at Draft Kings, and back onthe program are legal correspondent if you will,
Gerald Colton, sports agent, attorneyand host of the All Pro Philly
Show with Jarry Evans on Fox Sportsto Gambler. Welcome everybody. How are
we doing today? My head isspinning, so let's get right into it,

(01:14):
right, we have to talk aboutthe topic that needs to be discussed.
Of course, that's the rollback ofthe golf ball, right, Let's
spend the next forty minutes to anhour on that and really digging. I
mean, anything else in the worldof golf just disappeared yesterday, um when
in a strange way, And Jeff, I want to start with you because
the way that it just came out, right, it's the CNBC post.

(01:34):
And then people are like, isthis real? Is this? It was
fake? Right? Everyone kind ofdid checking in on one of my UM,
you know, one of the guysI one of my co workers UM
texted it to me and I forsure, I just thought he was texting
me a fake Adam chapter account becausethere's a million of them floating around.

(01:55):
So I woke up. It wasstill pretty early here. My kids were
like, I'm about to go offto school. I'm like, yeah,
a funny one, like whatever. And then I'm like, well, I
should probably check it. I'm justlike, you know, because I didn't
want to miss it if it ifit was real, so I go and
I checked the real Adam schafter andsure enough it's there and I'm like,
Okay, that's that's interesting, andI canceled my plans for the rest of

(02:15):
the day. Even after I hadverified chapter, I was like still skeptical.
Yeah, and then you started looking, You're like, oh my god,
this this actually just went down justlike that. Hey, so um
yeah, man, it was prettywild. Um. I had a bunch
of stuff to do yesterday morning andit just all got thrown out the window
pretty quick because I was just, you know, scrolling like everyone else.
I'm trying to get information as acamp. Yeah, I mean, just

(02:38):
insane. And Gerald, you know, you've seen a lot in the world
of sports, and you've been apart of a lot in the world of
sports. Have you ever seen anythinglike this where I mean it was so
one way and then completely turned onits on its head. I haven't,
Um, you know, I knowpeople are saying one eighties from really like
a five forties like back the otherway. It's outrageous. And as Jeff

(03:00):
described how he got the news withus, the way all five of us
got the news, but it's alsothe way everybody on the PG eight four
got the news as well, andthey got blinds. I didn't their livelihood,
their lives and they weren't even theywere not prepared for this whatsoever.
It's to me, it's the biggestsports business combination story maybe ever. Now
I'm the guy this is I onlyappear with you guys when something like major

(03:23):
business and that no one else reallycares about usually happened. But everyone cares
about this because this affects us allfrom various standpoints and love of the game,
our own sense of morality, andthen the reality that business trumps everything.
And it's just it's just a hugestory. And you know, Harry
said his head spinning today, butI don't know that any of us.
As we pay attention to the golfworld, we'll stop spinning anytime soon.

(03:46):
This is this is rock the Foundationabsolutely, and Danielle, I have to
ask you, like we're talking aboutit, we're speculating about how players feel,
how people found out. You're init. You're living it. You
were on the bag for Brandon lastweek, right, and so you're you
know, you're living and breathing thisstuff. What was going on in your
household? I mean, so Be'sin Toronto and I'm not with him,

(04:06):
but same thing. I mean,we saw that column more Kawa tweeted out,
I love finding this news out viaTwitter. Right, So these players
found out, you know, thesame way that we all did. Brandon
called me immediately, He's like, did you see that the PGA tour merged
with liv I was like, nochance. I was like yeah, good.
Joe, like it's not April first, like, tell me something else,

(04:29):
and he's like, no, it'sserious. So these guys found out
the same way. And then Jaysaid, hey, we're having a meeting.
Brandon's agent invites him now to go. He said, don't get caught
up in it right now, justyou know, practice focus on golf to
your thing. If you guys wantto go, go. Brandon didn't attend
the meeting. I know some guysdid, but literally, you know,
we'll get into it even more. But they're like, okay, like this

(04:53):
is how we found out, thisis what's happening. Our heads are spinning
just as much as the rest ofthe golf world. But they just kind
of are curious and want to knowwhat's going to happen. It just seems,
you know, like we just mentionedthat this was a business deal,
transactional and maybe not in the bestinterest for the players. Yeah, yeah,
Harry, what were your what areyour overall thoughts, you know,

(05:15):
your day in like had things changedin your mind or are things are There's
still questions you have, like whereare you at right now? Well,
I'm still trying to process all ofthis. Uh, you know, like
Gerald said, I think my head'sgoing to be spinning for quite a while.
But I was blown away by manythings and one of those was and
you guys touched on it. Uh. You know, we found out basically
when Tiger Rory and Greg Norman allfound out, when the network people,

(05:36):
you know, the partners of thePGA tour found out, when the you
know, the advertisers, they werejust as blindsided as we were. And
you start to realize, you knowagain, this is just you know more,
uh, you know, affirmation thatmoney is king. And you know,
you've got two power brokers here, you know, with the PIF Fund

(05:57):
and the PGA Tour, Jay Monahanand Jimmy Dunn, you know who has
a deep connection to the nine toeleven tragedy, which he ended up being
a guy that really helped facilitate this. We're finding out more and more and
we'll know more in the future. It's just it's really bizarre. Like,
you know, there there's a lotof people that are upset, you know,
from a moral standpoint on this.I think that's you know, that's

(06:19):
not gonna go away any anytime soon. I'm you know, I'm But then
I hear, you know, guyslike Jack Nicholas, the RNA, the
folks at the RNA, the folksdown at Augusta National saying that this is
a good day for golf, andI have to believe that too. But
there's you know, I think we'reall going to struggle with this, maybe
in our own individual ways. Yeah, yeah, no doubt any good.

(06:44):
I mean, we just gotta LikeMonahan, it's just I'm just so flabbergasted,
Like he just he kind of,for lack of better worse, he
looks like a clown. He's backpedaled, like that clip that's been all over
Twitter with him like saying, haveyou ever had to apologize for being a
member of the Peace GA Tour? And then yesterday he's sitting right there next
to Affair like announcing a merger.Like it's just bind blowing that it's just

(07:06):
such a different I mean, youcompare those two releases the PGA Tour releases
that were sent out to the playerseight months apart, and it's just it's
just unreal. Yeah, And Iwish there was a live feed of Jaymon
Hand's house because I feel like theremight be a Brinks truck sitting in his
driveway, right, I think threetrucks. Yeah, So, Gerald,
I'm gonna go over to you ina second. By the way, your

(07:27):
tan looks fantastic. You're doing agreat job. It's already it's only early
June and you're in mid season tanform tremendous. But Jeff wants want to
go back to you real quick becauseobviously, when we planned to have you
on last week, we thought wewere gonna talk about betting on the game
and fantasy and odds. How muchof the of of in this topic,
though, um has been flipped onits head in your world where you know,
can you can you even bet onlive? Will you be able to

(07:49):
how the change lines and majors? Not knowing guys you know who have had
that much experience, But then aguy that keptca wins a major. So
how much of this is as rockedyour world and what you do day to
day? Yeah, you know itactually has taken like a it's been a
big kind of adjustment in a lotof ways. I mean by no means
am I like negatively necessarily affected bythis. But you know, having those

(08:13):
guys go out and start a newfresh tour and then having some of the
elite talent on the PGA tour gogo away, it's you know, you've
had too kind of as a betterlook at the fields a little bit differently.
Um, you know, guys arejust priced differently. So in my
opinion, it's kind of been anegative for the betting space. I think
this move actually is one of theplaces that will benefit the most is actually

(08:37):
sports betting and just you know, the daily fantasy realm because you know,
we're going to be getting these eliteplayers back all in one field, and
when you get that much talent atthe top, you know a lot of
times guys will just drop down intoranges where you know they potentially get overlooked.
So more chances for better is goingforward for sure. But um,
you know, just just looking atthis like big picture, I can see
the positives for golf going forward.I can see the posit from my industry

(09:00):
going forward. But the thing Ican't wrap my head around, as you're
mentioning, is just how this wasdelivered to the players and how they get
past that going forward. How theyhow can they mesh these these players who
all went off, use this leveragefrom the Saudi p F five fund and
then also make the players who theyall lie too happy and bring them all
back. That is what I cannotwrap my head around. I do not

(09:22):
know how they're going to accomplish that, and I'm really interested to see how
they do it. Yeah, Ithink with all this stuff going on,
I think Rory McIlory might be aheavy fade this week. His head has
got to be just like explain hemight withdraw. I mean, it sounds
like he's handled it better than Ithink a lot of people would have expected
him too. But at the sametime you're write, I mean, there's
so many questions. He's probably gettingbombarded by other players, by agents.

(09:46):
It's not a great great spot forsure. Yeah, yeah, And what
is it? What is the futureof golf? Like we really have no
idea what's gonna happen to the liftformatt Like how our big corporate companies gonna
react, Like is I've already hearda lot of people. I mean,
my phone has been blowing up,people like why I'm not watching golf anymore
and this and that. I meanthey're like it's similar to the bud light

(10:09):
thing, and I'm like, notexactly, but there's people already saying they're
boycotting golf because of this, andI mean, I think that'll settle down,
but it's just like, it's justwild. I want to see that.
Where is the future of golf going, Like is it going to be
you know, team based, teamformat? It's just and then you know
Rory too, same thing, Likethese guys who stayed loyal lost all this

(10:30):
money, are they going to becompensated? We know Jay's pockets are getting
fatter, likes Rory gonna get abonus? Like you know what's gonna happen.
It's can't lay all these tiger allthese people who didn't go over anything
happening to these guys. We'll compensation. There so much, so much too
left to be seen. Gerald,There's so much. I you know,
we might have to do a separateepisode just with just with you on the
on the legal side. So youget a tweet from Representative Murphy in Washington,

(10:56):
DC, saying so weird. PGAofficials were in my office just months
ago talking about how the Saudi's humanrights record should disqualify them from having a
stake in a major American sport.I guess maybe their concerns weren't really about
human rights. So they have atough road to hoe in Washington and Jared,
I don't know how much of whatthey are presenting can be affected or

(11:16):
not, So I want to getinto that part, and then I also
want to get into the part aboutthe players, like do you see the
players unionizing? Because you kind ofsee that when things like this happen.
Jeff, there are so many permutationsof this, and we everybody's got got
opinions, and everybody's making great points. Look, I believe they need Jay
Monahan's heads figuratively figuratively, and whenwe're dealing with Sawny sometimes it's real figuratively

(11:41):
because he's got to go. Hecannot be in charge of this group,
he cannot have the privilege of beingthe caretaker of really the sport of goth
and the PGA and whatever the newinvention is going to be when he has
literally literally zero credibility, zero integrity. I think we're all realistic that money

(12:03):
rules all the time, but don'tthen try it out that you are about
human rights and you will never everlet these guys come back from Live and
then doing about face literally less thana year later. You can't be in
charge anymore and you can't pull thewool over the play eyes like this and
do this under cloak and dagger andthat all of sudden say oh, by

(12:24):
the way, we're now partners thoselive It is a travels day. And
then for the people like Roy mcgilroy, who was at the front of
it, but all the other playersgood Bible, PGA and lost out.
I mean, how do you evermake that up to them? And hopefully
there is some fun to do so, because I feel really barely for them.
But but there are so many permutations. It's interesting how Danielle said,
because that Brandon's agent said stay awayfrom the meeting. This is all juxtaposed

(12:46):
against the tournaments is going on andthen a major championship next week and the
players focused. And one of thegreatest things in Danielle, who's right there
and part of it. One ofthe greatest things about pro golfers is that
they can focus all the time, and you have this amazing easy distraction going
on at a critical time right herein mid June almost and I'm just blown
away. Jenny Monihan has no rightwhatsoever to be the head of the PGA,

(13:09):
And I went back to just checkhis credentials, as credentials are almost
a travesty for him to be inthis position in the first place. And
he's you know, he's appointed bythe PJA Polty Board, and that PJA
polty board who also had to bepart of all this stuff. You got
to question every one of those who'sseen on it right now, That's all.
I am not saying it's even thewrong decision. What I'm bothered by
the hypocrisy and the lives that wentalong with him. Yeah, no doubt.

(13:31):
I think yesterday might have been thethe golf's longest day. Tuesday might
have definitely over he goes you guysthought yesterday was golf's longest day, right.
But I always try to figure outthe motivation in situations like this,
and I look, I'm want toask our our legal expert here, Gerald,
you know, is there something good? What motivated the PGA tour to

(13:54):
do this and do this now?Is there something you know as far as
is the legal vulnerability? That's whatkeeps coming up right about you know,
going into discovery. That's you know, things would have come to light that
they didn't want to come to light. I mean yeah, because I think
about Yeah, number one is moneyand obviously boatloads of it, but I

(14:15):
mean of it makes me believe that'sillegal ramifications and a lot to do with
it. When you were going throughlawsuits and there's cross the suits and there's
even Department of Justice revolves and I'mnot going to tell you that right now.
The settlement of all this stuff getsrid of the Department of Justice,
it might really turn up at theirtechnicals on this whole thing, because like
to see where the money's actually goingand who's getting certain things that maybe affect

(14:37):
their certain whether sense of loyalty orjudgment. But the fact is, when
you're going through discovery and you haveto open up all your books and all
the other factors, I don't thinkanybody invopt here wanted to do that.
And it was in everybody's best interestprobably to get a settlement involved. But
you know, when people are comparedto other sports, and could this happen
in other leagues. This the Golticsunique in that it is an individual sport

(15:01):
with no real player representative. It'sthey're all independent contractors. There's no players
association. And I do believe Danielleyou're going to see a push to organize
the players and somewhat unionize them. It's been talked about in the past,
but they need a voice at thetable and they have none here. And
this is their whole life is beingcontrolled by a guy like Jay Monahan,

(15:22):
which is just not right. Andit's so they need to as a group
step up because right now all thepeople that were loyal to Jay Monahan's entity
now really got the bull pull outover their eyes and it's a really,
really unfair. So I think thenumber one motivation was money, but one
A was certainly the legal ratifications, and we'll see all the permutations from that

(15:43):
going forward. Yeah, and they'rethey're trying to the stands that Jay is
going to try to push to allthe players. And from what I've heard
from other players who did attend themeeting is that you know it was done
in the best interest of the playersbecause larger purses and they're going to make
more money. And that was kindof just like the gist of what,
you know, if the agenda thathe's pushing to try to make it okay.

(16:04):
But um, you know, aseer said on CFBC that you know,
we'll we'll hear more in the nextwhat four to six weeks, which
is crazy. The fact that theyannounced it so quickly before even having more
to say format wise, you know, I think somebody was going to break
it. I think I think that'sprobably what it was. They realized that

(16:25):
somebody said, hey, I meanCNBC had this. They're like, we're
gonna say this. It's like, all right, we gotta we gotta say
something because because it's the justification asto why it's better for the players's more
money. Yet all the players thatstood by the PGA gave up money in
money because you know, more moneyin the future is great. But you

(16:48):
know there's the players like one hundredand fifty to one in the ranking.
Um, they're also gonna have fortyeight more players to deal with competition,
So are those players even gonna getcompensation when some of them probably did turnound
offers. It's there's a lot ofquestions now, Jeff. Yeah. And
then it's also it's almost dividing thetour into like a varsity and JV team
because if they're gonna have more elevatedevents, Um, then it's like,

(17:10):
Okay, the guys are players lowers. Yeah, it's like it's who who
is this actually benefiting larger purses for, you know, the guys who are
coming back from Live. It's like, there needs to be something for the
guys that stayed loyal to the tour. In my opinion, yeah, I'm
rory, I'm can't lay, iam living, I just passed. Oh
my god, it's about Zala Torusright there, the list of people that

(17:33):
turned down hundreds of millions of dollars, Jeff, and it like, do
you think it was simply they couldn'tkeep up with the Saudi money. There's
billions of dollars be important to thegame and they're not taking a part of
it. And and finally, thebusiness people on and the Jimmy Dunn's of
the world are like, this iscrazy, this is unsustainable too. Yeah,
I think long term, like, and you know, this is where

(17:53):
this is where I almost give theJamon add A little bit of credit.
I think the longer the went on, the worst it would have gotten for
the PGA. And I think actuallygetting a deal done with them sooner rather
than later made a lot of sense. The PGA was gonna have to bleed
more money. They had already hada bunch of tournaments that they'd had to
juice the player pool for. Itwas probably unsustainable and they probably knew that.

(18:15):
And now they've taken out the competition, they've gotten an influx of money.
But you know, um saying that, like obviously it was done in
the completely wrong way. You can'tgo and say things that he said and
take the high moral ground and thendo the complete one eighty um without without
informing your players. So yeah,I think that you know, to back
to your your your question. Yes, I think that the money was just

(18:37):
you know, they looked at it, it was going to be too much.
And I also think that the legalramifications had a big thing to do
with this. I don't think thatyou know, from a contractor and employer
standpoint, that they were going tonecessarily going to be able to shut out
live forever. Um. You can'tnecessarily just you know, make make things
like that without the without the clausesin place and stuff. So I think

(18:57):
they were losing everywhere term and Ithink that they knew that, and I
think that's why eventually they did justrealize that this probably just better to get
it done once the once the avenueopened up. So Gerald, if you
take off your attorney hat and youput on your agent hat, right,
you know, here's here's someone atGerald who's repped everyone from Boomers, Yasin
to Jerry Evans, that everyone. You know, if you have a professional

(19:18):
golfer, that you are several thatyou represent. What are you telling them?
Like what they're the I'm sure they'regoing to their agents, just like
Brandon did for advice. You know, how do you weather this storm with
a client in a situation like thisRight now, I'm having talks with you.
Danielle's point from the start was interestingto me. When Brandon's agents said,
don't go to that meeting because Iwant my players involved. However,

(19:41):
brand is playing in a golf tournamenttomorrow and get distracted, and I understand
that there'll be a time for thisand let other people worry about right now
where you are in your career.Just focused on the golf, and I
get that, but I'm telling themwe have to join together so that this
doesn't happen. It's our game, not there game. Take our game back
and control. It was a littlebit of a voice because they've been sort

(20:03):
of pawns right now in this wholegame, and that would bother me like
crazy as a player, as someonerepresenting players and looking out really for what
I believe is the best interests ofthe game. Now, you know,
you think that the powers of bwould look out for the best interests of
the game, but they really don't, and they don't in any sport.
In the commissioner of the NFL,Roger Goodell, who has drawn a lot

(20:23):
of, you know, public criticismat the times he looks out for the
thirty two owners of NFL teams.Well, we need somebody looking out for
the gophers themselves and the sport itselfhere, So there's at least a voice
at the table. Like I said, so, I would really want to
focus on pulling together, uniting becauseright now it's just too fractious and allows
the guys, you know, Mickelsonand Dustin Johnson and d J. M.

(20:47):
Brown and kept gunning Smith. Theymay have been scores, but they
all got an excess of one hundredmillion dollars to take this step, and
now they're coming back in and competingwith us again. That would bother me
so much. I can't even tellyou. Plus whatever I left on the
table if I were the Rory mcilroys. So I think there really has to
be a point together of the playersthemselves to take back their games. We
cannot have in charge a guy likeJay Monahan who can lie to and literally

(21:11):
try to under this whole disguise ofhuman rights tomorrow rights and now get in
bed with them while he's having thesediscussions without anyone even knowing about it.
How wrong it is. I can'teven explain to you. Yeah, Davis
Love would be a perfect choice tome to be the commissioner or the players
union rep whatever, or to replaceMonahan. He'd be perfect at it.

(21:34):
Yeah, Yeah, we're gonna seewhat happens with that. Gerald. Appreciate
some of your time. We knowyou're busy. We want to have you
hop off and we're gonna continue withJeff for a couple of minutes. But
I love your perspective on this becauseI think from both sides from the attorney
side and the agent side. It'sso relevant to what's going on right now.
So we always appreciate your insights. Here we're seeing go Brandon Matthews.

(21:55):
Thanks Gerald Taker. All right,So Jeff, you know we still have
we still have money to make, right, we still have tournaments to bed
on. Um, I don't knowhow you handicap this now with what's going
on. To Harry's point, it'slike, is Rory you know he's he's
where past six hundred? How isthat line not dropped by now? Um?
What are you seeing for this weekend? How are you How did you

(22:17):
have a plan in place like Earllike Monday and then did you have to
tear it up? I mean Ihaven't torn it up necessarily because I mean,
you know you can certainly. Ithink there's two ways that you can
play this event. I mean, you look at the last couple of seasons
where the Canadian Open has been infront of the US Open, and we've
actually had really elite leaderboards like this. This field isn't super deep at the

(22:37):
top, but you know Rory feenow justin Thomas one two three last year,
even the year where they played atHamilton it was Rory web Simpson,
a bunch of other like pretty solidplayers, and so you know, I
don't mind back a couple of guysat the top. I have my eye
on Cameron Young, who I think. I know he's coming off a couple
of miscuts, but yeah, um, you know, he's handled. He's
a very good wedge player. Ifyou look at his stats and just look

(22:59):
at he's also played well, it'sit's not the greatest betting number in the
world, but again, I wantto take someone at the top of the
board. I think the plus sixteenhundred where he's fallen on DraftKings is actually
fine. And then also Tommy Fleetwoodand you know, you you mentioned like
how do you handle this? Leewoodwas one of the guys that didn't go
to the meeting. Yeah, hewalked right by by it, and I
mean I just liked I think that, you know, if I was picking

(23:21):
someone to handle this situation really wellout of this field, my first thought
was Tommy's gonna handle was fine. He's got beautiful hair, hair, beautiful
hair, yeah, exactly, hedoesn't have too much to worry about.
But he's very even leveled person. He's I mean every time I've heard him
speak, he's just you know,he's He's someone who I think will consider
both sides, will get a reallyemotional about it, and not that it's

(23:41):
bad to get emotional about it,but um, I think that from betting.
He's definitely someone who's been playing wellthis year too, so I already
had my eye on him. Sothose are two players at the top that
I've looked at. I don't youknow again, I can't sit there.
I'm not in the room. Ican't I don't know what Cameron Young's feeling.
I know that Cameron Young is oneof the guys who turned down a
bunch of money and his head isprobably spinning right now. But at the

(24:02):
same time that can also be usedas fire and motivation. And he's a
player who's been so close and uhand sometimes on shorter golf courses. So
I think that both guys at thetop or those are kind of the two
names I've been gravitating towards right now. Love it, Love I got.
I got two longer shots that Iwanted to run by you before we're done
here, But I wanted to justI got lots of longer shots in play
too, So okay, yeah,I think it's a good week to kind

(24:26):
of pepper down the board as well. I totally agree with you, but
I wanted to figure out from you, like, how do you handicap the
fact that this tournament changes venues somuch and this is a new venue from
what I understand, you know,it's kind of like, you know,
seeing a golf course for the firsttime. How do you factor that into
your handicapping? Yeah? Absolutely,I think it definitely gives um, you

(24:47):
know, some players down the fielda little bit of an advantage. It's
greens that no one's ever seen before. So you know, players who coming
in maybe not necessarily striking it sowell with the with the flatstick, I
think have a better chance of turningit. But at the same time,
you look at the profile this course, it's actually pretty similar to what we
saw last year. It's the samedesigner, it's a shorter course. I'm
not overly worried about it for anyonereally, but I think that, you

(25:10):
know, the biggest thing is justlooking at the profile. It's more of
a technical course. I think itwill bring players down the field in That's
the one thing I always the firstthing I always consider with the course's it
gonna shut out half the field? Is it gonna be play like you know,
like okill at the PGA, wherethere's like ten people who have the
distance to compete, or is itjust going to be a shorter technical track
where irons can a guy who getshot with his irons and putter can win.

(25:33):
And this week is definitely the secondthere's definitely players further down the board,
so it's kind of out of viewingthe course this week. Not too
worried about the fact no one's playedit, but more just the profile.
Tremendous, great stuff. Jeff, thank you for joining us. Make sure
you're following at the Fantasy Grind. We will have you back on when times
are a little bit easier and wecan really dig into a tournament. Harry
Well, no way, I wouldn'tgive him these names. Eric Cole and

(25:56):
Harry Hall. What do you thinkabout those two players this week? Yeah?
No, Look in terms of profileEric eric Cole, I mean he's
been all over courses like this HondaClassic, PG National playing well, and
I kind of like the Harry Hallcall just a little bit more. I
mean, that's a guy who canreally roll it. We just saw him
play well at Colonial another shorter youknow, part seventy there obviously part seventy

(26:18):
two, but only three part fives. And Harry hall As is kind of
the skill set that I like tolook at that distance off the tea.
But he's someone who's putter any weekI think can kind of win him an
event like this. So absolutely bothguys certainly should have a shot this week.
Yeah, Like I like Cole anda couple of matchups too. Yeah.
I like taking away some of theboard and just having him match somebody
out of nowhere too. It's it'sa good story, past guest. Get

(26:42):
ready for some instant success, Jeff. That's what happens when you come on
there, you go, You're gonnaget six more weeks a summer up there
on coming on this show. Itake that that's all he wants. I'm
sure that's all he really wants.Jeff ul Rick, thank you again.
At the Fantasy Grind, King's sportsbook content specialists and analysts and as we

(27:03):
are presented by Drafting sports Books,it's always connect with members of the family
if you will, so uh,continued success in what you're doing, and
we will will check back with yousoon. Absolutely. Thanks a lot,
guys, Thanks Jeff, thanks forgoing on. All right, guys,
let's take a quick break. Willbe right back, all right, and
welcome back to Swing It and DingIt. That was. I mean,
I hated like having to cut cutit off, but I know that,

(27:26):
you know, you only have acertain amount of time in a podcast where
people will tune in, and likeI could have talked to both of those
guys individually, probably for forty fiveminutes because they have insights when you And
it's funny because Jeff Ulwark actually hasa law degree too. He doesn't problem.
He has a law degree, sookay, um, you know,
but Gerald's points man, because hewas fired up right. He's he is
a player's rep. That's it.He as an agent and an attorney.

(27:48):
That is his side of the equation. And you know, when you have
one side or the other, youare passionate. And you could feel it
coming through like he's feeling for someof these guys as if they were hurt
his clients. Man. That was. That was really cool to hear his
perspective. But this will be uhforever and ever. Right. Tiger Woods
eight hundred million dollars turned down,Rory and Ram estimated four hundred million,

(28:11):
turned down, Matsiyama who flew homeon Spirit Airlines three hundred million dollars.
And then you have guys like Morikala'sal tourist that we're in the hundreds.
How do you rectify that? Howdo you how do you move forward and
play next to these guys now innext year when something's completely different hair Yeah,
and even the guys that did go, like, how is their money

(28:32):
affected? Because now they're full partnerswith the PGA Tour. So I just
have so many questions. It's like, are there going to be separate live
events? Are they going to absorbsome of the team concept? The team
concept seems like it's staying. That'sI think the Excellency does not want that
to go to way, so that'snot gonna go away. I am curious
with this though, with maybe thelive players where they don't make X amount

(28:56):
until you know that bonus that theygot for coming over is done because all
the PGA Tour brookies, the PGATour so nicely decided to give all the
rookies a five hundred thousand dollars bonusin Q four. It looked nice on
paper, this is a bonus. However, it ended up being in Q
four where they ended up paying morethan half of the back of taxes and
they don't make a penny until thatfive hundred thousand dollars is earned back in

(29:18):
earnings. Really, so yeah, yeah, that five hundred thousand dollars bonus
looks like an advance. It's clearlyan advanced I said it was given in
Q four. They didn't have theoption to say, hey, we don't
want this. So all these guyswho had great corn ferry years, you
know, and earned their card asa rookie got this bonus, and then
they had all their sponsorships and putthem in a high tax bracket where they

(29:41):
ended up paying half of it backand now they're making zero dollars until they
surpassed that five hundred thousand dollars.Z. Yeah, yeah, things they're
not always what they seem. Andthat very nice thing done by Jay Monahan
and but yeah, what a guy. Huh, But he really does have
to go. I mean, Ihad zero credible that he's completely untrus already

(30:02):
talking about it. The guys arelike, I mean, there's no chance
he can say, now, doyou think he knew that though? Do
you think he I mean, he'snot a dumb guy, right, No.
But but when you when you havethat much power, though, sometimes
you are blinded by it and youthink that I'm just gonna do this and
it's gonna work, and you don'tthink about the ramifications. I am curious
because money power if this his excellencyin the Crown Prince one Jay involved,

(30:25):
Jay's involves Let's face it, theycontrol the purse strings now, nothing else
matters, and Greg Norman could beout, oh yeah, not much with
him yesterday. Now he was whatI called what I consider him in all
this. He was the battering ramyou know when when the swat team comes
and the first guy has that washim banging his head against the guy at
that door, slamming it in.Once he was through, go ahead,

(30:47):
go back. We'll take it fromhere, back in the swat vehicle.
We got it. Yeah, man, I'll tell you such a big week
in golf too, hair right,we'll talk about everything with Rosang with you
know, the US Open qualifying andit just is completely overshadowed by all this.
Yeah, literally everything, every singlething. And we also had a
twenty five year old Victor Hovlin getshis fourth PGA Tour win in an incredible

(31:11):
playoff over our friend Denny McCarthy.I mean, I've never met him,
but I think he's our friend becausehe's Danielle's friends friend of your friend,
our friend after after taking over socialmedia during the week of just draining three
pointers in a gym in Ohio againstsome other PGA Tour players, which was
awesome to see, and you reallythought he was gonna get done. When
you talk about a game of inchesin a game of feat, you think

(31:33):
about that drive on eighteen that justkicked into the rough and he couldn't get
you know, the club under itthe way he wanted to. But you
know, you have Hovlin who goestwo under seventy three point six million dollars,
Denny walks away with two point eightmillion, and then you have Scheffler
who shoots a Sunday sixty seven forsolo third, which comes out of nowhere.
So very very interesting tournament for sure. Yeah, it really was interesting,

(31:56):
and I was really rooting for DannyMcCarthy. Nothing against Victor Hovlin,
but I wanted to see Denny gethis first one. But the thing that
jumped out at me was all thebig numbers that were being posted by some
of the very quality players. Imean, he started looking at some of
these Sounjay shot seventy nine on Sunday, Coucher eighty four, um HOGI and

(32:16):
eighty five. I mean, can'tlay shot seventy eight on Sunday, Johnny
John rom seventy four, seventy fourover the weekend, really a non factor
the entire week, which just youknow, more Cowo withdraws. Maybe he
knew what was coming this week.Maybe he was the guy that was going
to break the story. He justwithdrew on Sunday. But that's the thing

(32:36):
that just jumped out at me.These guys, you know, just putting
up bogies and doubles, and itwas it was mayhem, Yeah, it
really was. Luckily I was onthis one for you know, sold our
Draft Kings contest, but also onthe show, gave out Hovlin, which
is not a you know, somecrazy revelation, but also Seewu, who
played really well, you know, some of the matchups. It just was,

(33:00):
you know, to your point hardlike some of the guys just fell
so far off that it was wildto see. I mean, to set
up Jack's course was showed its teeth. The weather held up, but you
know it was it was tough forthese guys out there. You could tell
they were they were struggling through thatthing. Yeah, props to you for
winning the Fantasy contest. It wasn'teven like it wasn't even close. I
think I finished seventh, like onehundred points behind step Straka. That last

(33:22):
pick, I think he got likeT sixteen. But that last guy keeps
you in it, man, that'stell you. That's right. I mean
I might have been like dfl Ibefore we started, I like Wednesday night
or whatever it was. I wasquick adding something and I totally forgot to
go back in and adjust my lineup. And I was like, oh,
all right, You're like, whycan't I pick Scheffler more than once?

(33:42):
Come on, let me pick themthree times. I won three of the
five matchups I put out there,Bazood and Hohot Top forty, McCarthy Top
thirty, Shank top thirty and forty, and Ricky Fowler another top ten.
He's coming, here comes rick He'scoming here, he comes. He cups.
But yeah, we talked about youknow a little bit about Rosang.

(34:04):
Just an incredible win. I mean, everyone you know knew it was going
to happen. I tried to haveAlex McGann from Ceview hop on real quick,
but he's so busy with setting upfor the LPGA because I probably just
know like how things changed since sincethat. But great, just I mean
looking like she is setting up tobe one of the all time greats.
Yeah, no doubt about it.I mean, you know, wins in
her LPGA debut at Liberty National overJennifer cup Show in a playoff. It

(34:30):
goes with her twelve wins at standfor two national championships, the Augustine National
Women's Amateur, the US Girls Junior, and the US Women's am That's all
she's done in her young career.I mean, we are looking at an
all time great in my view, barring injury. And that was about a
six and a half hour round orsomething too. It was getting dark.

(34:51):
Yeah. And then also you knowwe had the US Open qualifying with some
you know, some big names youhave in Hillcrest out in LA. You
have Charlie Hoffman, No Dylan Blockby the way, you know, we're
all looking for Michael blocks Soun toqualify. Right. I actually watched The
Pine Tree, the playoff of CarlosOtis. I was tremendous watching those guy's
battle. Our guy, Sebastian Muniosgets in in Maryland, and then where

(35:14):
Danielle was, and I'd love tohear from her about that experience at Canoe
Brook. How about Chris Crawford getsbeaten out by Andrews Foboda in a playoff
and then Eric Cole, Right,we talked about already in Ohio he gets
through with with Stu Sink. Soa lot going on during that day.
Yeah, Chris Crawford, Ben Salem, Drexel Alum nearly nearly got in.

(35:35):
And Nicholas Gross too. Don't forgetabout him. He's going to Alabama on
a golf scholarship out of Downingtown. He just missed. He had a tremendous
first round and fell off a littlebit in the second round and just missed
out. But he's a teenager thatwe're gonna hear a lot from the near
future. Oh yeah, Danielle,I'm not sure sure if you're able to
hop back on. Just wanted tohear from you what that was like.

(35:57):
On the bag for a couple ofdays. But if you can't, you
hot back on, we will,we will continue with that. But um,
you know, listen, tremendous, tremendous day, great great coverage of
course, as always from the GolfChannel to to make sure you're seeing all
this. But it must be fun. I'm sure for some of those guys.
It's Some of those guys probably seeit as fun as a competition,
as getting back to like having toqualify for stuff, right, And some
guys are probably like, oh,I wish I didn't have to do this.

(36:20):
Well, how about Victor Hoblind caddyingthe next day for his former college
teammate. His name is Zach Boshuand he missed that. You didn't make
it, But I mean think aboutthat. You just make three point six
mill or whatever it was, andthe next day you're humping a bag.
Let's tell you what I'm gonna I'mgonna pay someone to caddy for you.
I'll be there as your coach, but i'll pay someone to caddy for you.
I'm not carrying his bag to betwenty four, right, there are

(36:44):
twenty five, like like Victor Hoblind, where that stuff doesn't matter, so
good for Victor getting out there.Um, we have closed out our golf
outing Harry the Fox Sports the Gamblers, swing It and ding it open,
benefiting the Magical Meal Foundation. Wehave some more great sponsors. Comcast Business
has added on. We have somuch going on. I think what we're

(37:04):
gonna do is, I think we'reactually gonna have three long drive holes and
then a top three playoff after thetournament. So it's gonna it's gonna be
something like like you haven't played inthere's closest to the pins holand ones.
Our friends from mall Chevy, ofcourse they'll be the twenty twenty three Silverado
for a hole in one up there. But you know, thank all of
our all of our sponsors support, but mall Chevy in particular Harry. They're

(37:28):
helping us out big time. Absolutely, and for eight years in a row
now, mal Chevrolet has been SouthJersey's number one Chevy dealer. It could
be because they treat their customers right. That's why mal Chevy was voted top
one hundred dealer in the country forcustomer satisfaction. But I still think it's
just because of their motto we sellChevies for less. Find your perfect drive

(37:50):
at mal Chevrolet is at mal Chevroleton Haddonfield Road in Cherry Hill, right
across from the Cherry Hill Mall,or online at mal Chevy dot com.
Find your perfect drive at mal Chevroletand mal Chevy dot com. When you
say sell Chevy's for less, allI hear is Joe Perry. If the
mal Chevy's guy over there, there'sthe sales manager who does the incredible commercials.
That's tremendous. We gotta get Joelon on the program. I gotta

(38:13):
get him out on the golf coursetoo. I'm sure here's a lot of
fun out there. But let's takeanother quick break and then we will we
will look ahead to h oh Canadais a Canada episode, right, Jeff
Ulrich was up in Edmonton. Wegot the RBC right, We'll be right
back, all right, Welcome backto swing and ding it as we take
a look at the RBC Canadian Open, where we have ten of the top

(38:35):
fifty in the field, two timedefending champ Rory McElroy, whose head is
in a blender right now. OakdaleGolf and Country Club in Toronto, Canada.
Harry Mays he talked about this tournamenta little bit with Jeff Ulrich about
the fact that it changes venues fromtime to time. You're excited for this
one, or you think it's gonnabe more about press conferences than golf.
Yeah, I think it's gonna bemore about press conferences. I'll of course

(38:57):
watch some of the golf on theweekend, a couple of names that I'm
interested in, But I'm onto theUS Open now. I mean, with
all this live stuff and the mergerand and the US Open, you know
next week it's this Unfortunately for thistournament, it's really gonna get just get
squeezed out. Yeah. Yeah, there's no doubt about it. There's no
doubt about it. But how wouldyou like to be Chad Mum, Oh

(39:17):
my god, another friend of theshow. Can you imagine? I mean,
this guy jack Pot, It's unbelievableand their cam was rerolling. You
could I if this was a scriptedtelevision show, you couldn't write it better.
You couldn't write storylines that would bemore engaging to people than the reality
of our situation. Good for Chad. Hopefully we'll get them back on the
program soon to talk about it.But uh yeah, it's going to be

(39:39):
incredible to watch Harry and uh,you know, let's let's take a look.
Let's see the looker right with ourfriends from Draftking. We know it's
the best place to go to getin all the action is draft King sports
Book. This week new customers willsee an odds boost to add plus one
thousand to any pre tournament wager upto ten dollars on any golfer to win.
Make sure you download the Drafting sportsBook app, use promo ding d

(40:00):
I n G and boost your oddsduring this weekend's tournament that's coded ding only
on Draftking sports Book. Gambling problemcalled one eight hundred gambler. We talked
a little bit about some of theplays, Harry, but let's dig in
a little bit deeper for the RBCCanadian Open. Yeah, I brought up
a couple of names with Jeff Ulrichand I'm gonna stick with him. Eric
cole is plus six thousand to win. Throw a little sprinkle on that,

(40:22):
but plus two twenty for a toptwenty I think is gold. Also Harry
Hall plus nine thousand to win. Now, he you know he showed up
at the Colonial and you look backon his numbers. He's having a really
good year. He qualified for theUS Open this week, and he's in
a good headspace and he can putplus nine thousand to win plus three twenty
for a top twenty. I'll takethat. Ludvig Aberg making his debut out

(40:45):
of Texas Tech on the PGA Tourthis week, and these young guys just
seem to come in and they justthey don't know what they don't know,
but they have no fear. I'lltake a top twenty at plus two forty
for Ludvig. And Sam Burns ismy best player on the board for my
one and done, and I've beenawful this year, but he's four of

(41:07):
his last six starts he's been tsixteen or better and he was fourth at
this event last year. So I'lltake a flyer on Sam Burns for the
one and done. I love it. There's a lot of talk about Fitz
and Hatton because they're both playing prettywell. This course five, Part four
is under four hundred yards, soshort irons and wedge play are paramount.
That makes me like a guy likeShane Lowry at plus two thousand. As

(41:29):
far as the Fitz and Hattan thinggo, I'm leaning a little bit more
Hatton. He's got five top twenties, he's t twelve last week. I'm
actually taking him in my one anddone. Not a bad number at plus
eleven hundred. I mean, that'sprobably the shortest number you're gonna see for
him. A little bit further downmidway, I like Keith Mitchell at four
thousand. We talked about Eric Cole. I'm gonna take him in a matchup
minus one thirty over Hoguard, andthen again in a top ten at plus

(41:50):
four fifty. And then the longshot, too long shot Taylor Pendrith why
not right up in Canada plus seventhousand, and Grayson Sig top ten for
plus fourteen hundred. So a lot, a lot to look at, a
lot to see. I can't waitto see Rory's opening round. I am
so. I know the first holemight be like when they were at in
Northern Ireland at royal Port Rush, where you made a seven on the first

(42:12):
hole and basically took himself out ofthe tournament. But the matchups I forgot
Keith Mitchell over moronc at minus onetwenty, Harry Hall over Hodges and Cam
Young who I know Jeff Ulrich likesto win it minus one thirty over Corey
Connors. I am done with CoreyConnors, even in Canada. I'll dare
you out, How dare you? That is an outrage Corey Connors in Canada.

(42:37):
You have to like him up there. But we will see. I
guess I saw you got out andplayed a look golf with that Nick Kle
yesterday. Is that true? Idid. I was over at Lulu,
which was fantastic. That place isin great shape, firm and fast.
And of course we all know whatthey've done with that great clubhouse over there.
Maybe the most fun membership of anyany golf club. It's definitely up

(42:57):
there, There's no doubt about it. Um, you know, look forward
to getting out again. But yeah, I'll tell you John Rusk and the
crew over there have done a tremendousjob. And uh, you know,
we had we had a ball.We had a little bit of a rain
delay too, a storm blew in. This is great. We're on the
par three twelfth, which is adownhill par three, not excessively along,
It's kind of a mid mid rangePart three. Kale puts a beautiful shot

(43:22):
on the green about fifteen feet. The wind is howling, the torn it's
like a tornado coming at us.So I hit a chippy seven iron and
the wind blows it into the bunker, the right greenside bunker. I take
the bunker, shot, put itto four feet, made the par.
We both made par, and thenran into the clubhouse. Oh man,
that's great weather play out of you. But good bunker's over there, I'll

(43:45):
tell you. Oh yeah, that'skey. Good bunkers are key, that's
for sure. That's good to seeyou guys get out there. You know,
I saw you driving a golf guard. I know you don't let anyone
us drive. That's well, especiallynot Nick Kale. I mean he's he's
McGoo. He's mister McGoo on agolf course. He can't see. Okay,
all right, good to know. For the future rounds, I'll let
you drive. Uh maybe not.I don't know. Your bag usually winds

(44:07):
up on the left side, let'sface it. That's okay. Oh I
saw you tweet that Twitter feed andI laughed. You'd like to be in
control. That's okay. I'm agood driver on the golf cart, not
necessarily on the tea. Right, you find your perfect drive at mal Chevy

(44:28):
though, just say you know that'sright, that's right. Well, listen,
this was a fun episode. Welost Danielle. She was in transit.
She has to hop on a plane. She's been flying up and down
across the country, um with allof her obligations. But thank you to
Gerald Colton, thank you to JeffUlrik. That was a lot of fun.
Um. You know, we couldhave probably done another hour on that,
but I think we'll talk about itsome more, probably the next couple
of weeks. Yeah, I thinkwe might just do that. Yeah,

(44:51):
all right, Harry, we willtalk again next week. Everyone else's get
out there and swing it and dingit. Listen, swing it and dang it.
