(01:55):
Chris Crawford, Drexel graduate, currentlyplaying PGA Tour in America and uh,
out there looking for a couple ofguys to fall off, if you will,
in Los Angeles? Is that correct, Chris? Do you guys not
remember the Nancy Kerrigan, Tanya Hardings. Yeah, I have I have some
resources out there. Yeah, there'sa couple of resources out there, but
(02:20):
um, Chris, let's start withyou. Um, first of all,
just you know, talk a littlebit about your your you know, your
golf journey if you will, fromthe Philadelphia area where you are now,
and kind of what your direction is, what you're looking to accomplish in the
next year two years. Okay,Yeah, that's a that's that's a big
question where a typically I mean,I'm from Ben Salem. Yeah, um,
(02:40):
I grew up you know, obviouslygrew up there. I live in
Sarasota, Florida now West Coast ofFlorida, playing PGA Tour Latin America,
like you mentioned. Um, now, I went to Holy Ghost, so
and Drexel, obviously stayed local, played for Mike here for my time at
Soul and then I don't know, the last couple of years, it's been
(03:02):
all right, um, you know, playing and it played and obviously got
into a couple opens before and yeah, then this year was a little bit
of a heartbreaks situation at Canoe Broketo come up a little bit short.
But you know, we've had agood week so far. This this week,
even if things end up you know, if you know, it doesn't
look too good about getting in thetournament. Some good practice here with these
(03:24):
two all week, and it's,uh, it's been pretty great. You
know, two more tournaments and yeah, and the other thing is there's two
more tournaments in the Latin schedule nextthe next two weeks. So I figured,
worst case scenario, I don't getin this week, it's still a
great week to practice for the lasttwo events to try and make something happen.
We talk about that, talk aboutthat qualifying process. I know you've
(03:46):
been in some opens and you've gottenthrough and so forth, but that's got
to be some of the most nerveracking golf that that you play year to
year. Tell us about that,Yeah, the local end, the sectional
one, because you know, I'vehad to play the local every year too.
It's it's not like I've had beenexem from that, so having to
get through that's never never super easy. This year, I barely got through
(04:08):
the local qualifier I played at RollingGreen back home, and then the sectional.
I mean if Yeah, of courseI am nervous, but I always
really look forward to that day alot. It's one of my favorite days
on the calendar golf wise, ofthe year, and I've managed to play
pretty well there last couple of times. Once I saw I was back at
Canoe Brook, I was pretty excitedabout that because it's been a few years
(04:30):
since it went there, and Idon't know, I've always liked the Sectional
day and I usually get pretty excitedfor it. I end up getting nervous
at the end if you're in contentiona little bit, but I honestly just
get really excited to go play thatday. Do you want to happen?
Man? My turn, Chris.Just talk about how you feel like your
(04:54):
game is progressing, you know, working with Steve, Any progress, any
changes you've been working on. Takeus through that. I've been working with
Steve now for almost two years, and I think it's you know, last
year, but I made a tonof progress. Um, you know,
playing professionally now, I definitely Ithink last year full time in Latin and
this year too. Um, thisyear has been even better than last year.
(05:16):
And it took probably a couple ofmonths as soon. I mean I
saw progress pretty immediately once once Istarted working with Steve. But it's been
consistently getting a little bit better andbetter. So I've been pretty encouraged the
whole way, and I feel goodabout moving forward. You know, regardless
of this week, I feel prettyconfident about things have been progressing in the
right direction. I just got tokeep hammering it, hammering it in with
(05:38):
the details, and keep sticking withit because it's on the right track being
in our house. Is it justtakes one good week? Right? Yeah?
Yeah, So you talked about workingwith Steve. Steve, I would
love to hear from you a littlebit on, you know, what you
see as your style of teaching andthen also like what's the difference when you're
working with a schmo like me andyou're in you're teaching compared to it a
(06:00):
guy like Chris. How does yourhow does your approach change or does it
in that situation. It always startswith the you know, the three fundamentals.
You know, you're you're always evaluatingor you know, screening someone when
they're hitting. I'm always looking atwhat's their contact, like how far do
they hit the ball? Can canthe golfer reach all the holes in regulation?
And then lastly, what the curveof the ball is doing. And
(06:20):
you know, this week or thehigh highest level, they all hit the
ball style, they'll there far. It's always about controlling the curve fundamental number
three, And that's always been thebiggest thing with Chris is making sure that
these balls aren't going too far tothe left. Um, you know,
that the face angles properly, allhe's aiming the way that he's doing some
stuff with his wrist and it's followed, or to make sure that the balls
(06:43):
don't go to the left and theygo higher. That's always kind of been
the main the main thing, Andwhen I'm at Woodcrest, it's kind of
a little bit I don't want tosay it's the opposite, but it's more
like making sure that they can hitthe ball solid and adding a little bit
of the of the curve and distance. But you really always kind of see
that, you know, at theclub level it's more about contact and a
(07:03):
little bit of direction, and atthe highest level it's mainly more about making
sure that's interesting or curving properly, hitting the fairway, getting it's given them
more opportunities to make birdies. Howmuch of the golf course have you guys
been able to play this week inpractice rounds or are you basically just doing
you know, doing your work onthe on the practice areas. Actually they
(07:27):
treat you great as an alternate. You basically have all this, You have
all the same privileges as being anice, normal guy in the field.
So we got here Sunday I playedeighteen holes. Yes, today afternoon we
played nine holes this afternoon, mostlyjust practicing on the range, putting everything
in the morning, which game justYeah, I've been hanging out there pretty
much all day the last couple ofnuts. Do you feel anything any comparisons
(07:48):
that you could draw to any coursesback in our area at all? Well,
George Thomas, I played White MarshValley on Yeah, Okay, that's
about But to be honest with yeah, it's hard to tell much of the
similarities between the two. It's yeah, it's actually permuta rough, which is
also a little usual, especially forUS Open greens are bent Ben. Yeah,
(08:13):
well, outside of the course, talk about the atmosphere and how that
motivates you if you possibly don't getin this week, just for your game
moving forward, being out there aroundyou know, all the tour players at
a major. Yeah, today todayespecially really felt like yesterday was a little
quieter. We played in the afternoon, but today it was a lot of
the you know, played the wholeback nund yesterday with nobody there. Yeah,
(08:37):
time was that course for ourselves really, that's wild. We went off
one around like two, so okay, thirty five to seven o'clock. You
know, you guys are still inthe East Coast time. Yeah, yeah,
a little bit. Yeah, butuh no it Yeah, being here
obviously with all the all the tourplayers and all the you know, the
(08:58):
big games and everything. Thing isand obviously a lot of people being around
is a little bit of an adjustment. Ever, get big crowds in South
America that often sometimes but not obviouslynothing like that. So well, talking
about the Latin Tour, so thisis the last actual year of the Latin
Tour. They've merged with McKenzie andit's now PG eight for America's Is that
(09:20):
correct? That's right? Yeah. What are your thoughts on that merging do
you think? And just kind ofall the changes to golf in general lately?
What are your thoughts and its changesthe golf? What happened miss,
Yeah, we've had nothing to talkabout lately. I think the American Store
is probably a good thing. Ithink it makes a lot of sense to
submerge, submerge two tours. Ithink they're going to do it. You
(09:43):
know, it's gonna be mostly aCanadian North American tour in six events in
South America and then ten in theUS and Canada, so that part of
the schedule probably makes things a littlebit easier. Obviously to travel down America
to be a little challenging. Yeah, sometimes a little dicey, but also
sometimes pretty cool. Yeah, now, where didn't to go? I had
a question for him and I didtoo. Well. Wait, actually I
(10:05):
can wait. Let me ask onebook before he comes back. Let me
ask him how many shots does havingDinda on the bag cost you? I
want to hear that hold on costyour help? Actually, I want to
hear this. Well, we talkedabout this for the sectional. I was
like, if it helps one shot, that's that can mean everything. I
committed. He's one of the bestGreen readers you're ever you're ever gonna see.
(10:28):
Yeah, legend, he's a legend, no doubt. I saw you
guys doing some main point stuff.I think it was on the fourteenth Green
you guys put out a video, but it was pretty cool, and of
course you nailed the put Chris.Oh, yes, I don't know.
It was yesterday. On yesterday.Yeah, yeah, there was a couple
Instagram willis something yesterday I was losingtrack of. I think that was before
(10:50):
Dinda ran through the hedge to thePlayboy mansion on the fourteenth tea. So,
mikey, you can see the monkhe's from Yea from that. Yeah.
There was a story that Hefner hadtried to get in there, trying
to be a member for years andyears and years and they never they never
let him in. They never lethim. On the first day today,
one of the starter told me thestory of Hugh and he wrote a letter
(11:13):
saying, Hey, I want tobuy some property for you to build a
hell of hat and he I wantto be a member and they said nope,
nope, double nope. So,Mike, last time we talked to
you, was that another major right? And and there were comparisons being drawn
like this is setting up like aUS Open. Now when you see that
from last time to an actual USOpen, do you still feel those comparisons
(11:37):
are are grant? Are you know, warranted at this point? Parisons in
what way? Um? So theywere saying that that, you know,
the PGA Championship was setting up asdifficult as the US Open, But they're
they're almost saying to LA Country Club, the fairways are a little bit wider.
Do you feel like challenge wise PGAChampionship set up to US Open set
up this year? What do youthink is the more daunting task for these
(12:01):
guys? I mean, I thoughtOak Hill was more like an Open,
and I feel like La is morelike a PGA. Interesting, Yeah,
And the fact there's Bermuda grass makesit more PGA ish, right, and
all the fans on what the USAwants to do with the Greens in their
firmness and their speed. Right now, it's fine, but I had them
stidding twelve twelve point two today. But if it gets any firmer and any
(12:26):
faster, I hope they don't loseit. Okay, Well, staying on
the topic of the course, inthe setup and everything else, you guys
played nine and then you said youplayed a full eighteen as well. What
is the what is your favorite home? What do you think is going to
be the most challenging hole this week? Out? There a lot of talk
about the long part threes right,Yeah, is a tough question. What's
(12:48):
the toughest soul It's got to be, it's gotta right before that you have
their hole. We've renamed it thirteenthirteen. Okay, yeah, because there's
the ball. It's it's a prettywide fairway, but it's you know,
it's like five ten from the backtea, but the fairway is wide,
(13:09):
but you can catch a slope runall the way down the hill to the
right, and the roughs really nasty. You don't have much of a chance.
To me, it's real spotty. The rough on the golf course in
general, I'd say it's pretty spotty. You can it's it's really not that
bad in some spots, honestly, and I think because it's the Bermuda,
it's like a little whispier and youcan you can get some good lives.
(13:30):
I think for sure. It's it'snot the worst. You can get some
poor lives. But yeah, ifthat driver is not going straight though.
Facts sent me a video of theleft of eight right there, and I'd
probably get six or seven shots tryingto get out of that if I could
even find my ball. If youcheck my Instagram today, I did in
the golf I had dropped two ballson sexually threw them in the rough and
(13:50):
they were this far apart. Onesat up like a cherry on a Sunday
and one went south of the border. Wow. Wow, like that analogy
like a cherry on the Sunday.Steve, question for you, Um,
you know you are a teacher ofthe game, a coach. How does
that change? Right, Let's sayall things go well, Chris gets in
right during the tournament, whether it'sactually during the round at night when you
(14:13):
guys get back, how does thatchange once you're live in action compared to
the week leading up to the tournament, lost your audio, can you hear
now? Yeah? Our biggest thingwould just be, you know, um,
making sure that everything is organized.Um. You know the ball continues
(14:37):
to keep going, you know whereit's where it should be going, and
that the thoughts are right and itultimate at that time when I you know,
if he when he gets in,I'm gone. He knows what to
do. It really just comes downand making sure he has no questions.
Um. And obviously I'll you know, because of how good the pens you
can check and see what's going on. I mean, tell you where the
ball's going on shot by shot, and you know it's it's really just keeping
(15:01):
the lines of communication open. Andthat's with the what we've really been doing
over the last yeah year and ahalf or so. I mean, that's
really what we've been doing the wholeLatin tour. He sends me some pictures
or as a question what the ballis doing, I'll see a photo.
Okay, you need to do thisbetter or think about this piece. I
mean, because we've talked so much, you know that we're on the same
page really, but with everything thatwe're looking at very cool. What do
(15:22):
you got in the bag this week? Chris? Tell us about what what
kind of irons and everything everything thatyou got for the US Open, Makefield
putter, because it is the Makefieldput it in the bag only honestly,
(15:43):
like two weeks ago. But it'sbeen uh, it's been great honestly so
far. So that's that's in thebag putting wise, I otherwise, I'm
I have all titles of stuff,so like one hundred irons with my man
MBS in the short irons, BogiesSMNI and two wedges. Um. Yeah,
And is there anything you you're liketo Harry's point, like kind of
(16:03):
had to change the bag set upwise can because of the way the course
is laying out with either with somefresh groups. Oh, it's gonna say
talk about going to the truck. So going out there, I mean that's
part of it, right, youhad to have stepped into the truck and
got something. I had a sixthiron that had a chip in it from
hitting a rock somewhere in our teneror somewhere I got any six iron.
Then the fresh groups and the wedgesare probably the biggest thing, especially with
(16:26):
the greens getting firm that was overdue. Um, we were thinking about maybe
asking about driver or three wood, but or a driver trying to get more
in the tent. Maybe maybe morethe truck will ask about that, but
yeah, no doubt. And howmany are you out now? Just for
our listeners, Um, what areyou three or four out? I think
(16:47):
four? Yeah, I think fouris a safe thing to say. Is
that I don't really think they know. We don't know like who's coming,
who's on site, who's not onsite? Right, apparently there's only two
alternate side or on site? Okay, but he didn't know that two others
were coming, So it's I thinkfour is a safe number problem. I
(17:08):
think there's only been two alternates thathave been here practicing playing Wow, wasn't
Brandon the fourth alternate at Maryon Backin twenty thirteen, Daniel first alternate,
and he actually, yeah, sohe was able to go what's that?
Remember he wasn't not allowed to playback. I was just getting into that.
Yeah, so he wasn't allowed Youknow, you were just saying,
(17:30):
Chris, how great they were treatingyou as a as an alternate. He
didn't have playing privileges. He wasonly allowed to hit balls and um,
you know, be on the puttinggreen. But it was pretty cool because
you know, he's like eighteen andTiger came walking up and I was like,
what is happening? So he hadto go over to teas to warm
up to hit some balls. Exactly. That's right, nice concha hacking reference
(17:53):
there. Yeah, a little bQ did well. First and foremost,
make sure you're following Steve Iraqi atSiaki Golf s I E R A c
k I Golf. It's it's incrediblebecause what I love is, you know,
people are trying to improve at alldifferent levels. So you hey,
here's a guy like Steve and guyslike Mike who teach that are helping people
(18:15):
at the highest level and people thatare just starting out. At the game.
And what I would tell anyone orI tell anyone is just get lessons
from someone who knows what they're doingright, And even if it's not as
frequent as you possibly want to,just having that baseline knowledge is so important.
And Steve se you're working over thereconstantly. I know you're not going
to get into all the major celebritiesand everything you teach, but you're doing
a great job. Man. Sohey moose, hey moos, let me
(18:37):
shime in here. Yeah, heis not as quite as shy as Chris,
and he won't brag, but youknow me, I don't give a
about anything. Philadelphia PGA Coach ofthe Year. I don't think any help
a player like Christopher, but hecan help the local club player who can't
break a thousand maybe enjoy the gamea little bit more. As a former
(18:59):
PGA Teacher of the Year before Stevewas born, I enjoy helping from beginners
to winners. So I was veryproud three years ago to introduce Steve and
Chris as like Steve or Chris,I can't get you any better. Go
see my friends, Steve. Whatother PGA pro would do that? Right?
(19:21):
It's really good at golf. Ilove it. He's very good.
When he can't figure out somebody's funny, he says them to me. There
you go. That's a great team. He's my swing coach. I'm his
pudding coach. Yeah, not onlydo we need Chris on the PGA Tour
in the near future, but weneed Dinda as one of the PGA Tour
caddies. I mean, he wouldjust add to that that colorful group.
Get Oh, you gotta get thecaddy in the first and then get on
(19:45):
the mic. I think that's theway it works. Kip Henley has been
trying forever. You get on thatmic. And I just saw a video
you won the Senior Tennessee Open orsomething. Oh yeah, Chris, let's
talk about you know real quick andwe'll let you guys go shortly. But
uh, you know, just thecollege golf scene in Philadelphia, right obviously
(20:08):
b Q started on this podcast asthe coach a Temple. That's where Brandon
played, Right, you have beenand the great team at Drexel. Talk
about your your Drexel, your timeat Drexel playing golf. Yeah, it
was great. I mean I waslucky that that Drexel and Mike, and
that gave me a chance to youknow, play there and and develop.
But yeah, obviously Brandon has hada ton of success. Temple was always
(20:32):
a great program. Um, soplaying against those guys a couple of times
a year was always great. Andthen all honestly, all the other program
it seems like I'm not you know, I'm not as locked in maybe as
I used to do when I wasthere, But um, it seems like
it's only gotten better the last coupleof years. Oh yeah, I know.
Drexel, I obviously, you know, with with Benn and with the
last few years has been great andit seems like the whole scene just keeps
(20:55):
keeps getting better and better. Soobviously for any sport having you know,
we're lucky in Philly. We havesix schools that are you know, have
great athletic programs, and so anychance to play against each other is uh,
it's awesome and I love it.I love playing a Drexel And we
also obviously have getting no doubt, incredible golf courses. Yeah. Do you
(21:15):
get the kind of confused look sometimeswhen you tell me you played in you
know, Philadelphia where it's not warmyou around. Is that something that when
you say you played at Drexel, people will always go right away to like,
you know, Mary and Cricket Club. Yeah, I play. You
know, it's like wow, youguys really and obviously playing in GAP events
growing up, we get to playthose courses all the time because they so
(21:37):
that party. It is tremendous.Gap is great. Yeah. All right,
So we'll close with this, guys, and it says I need this
from from Steve and Mike. I'mplaying in the Green Valley member guests this
week all right, boy, andmy game has been a little bit off.
Anything about any knowledge I know youguys work with Burdas like anything,
any little nugget you can give methat could that could help me excel and
(22:00):
the member guests at that Green Valleythis weekend. First off, Moose Philadelphia.
Any answer will be stay below thehole. Okay, I'm not I'm
thinking notes. So Green Valley isa playing course like Rolling Green, Uh,
stay below the hole? Ye.Secondly it would be the stay below
the hole yet fast. My thirdthought would be stay below the hole okay.
(22:22):
Hole thought was Steve was gonna probablyget into his hit the center of
the club base. Hm hmm.Trying to put the ball the fairy?
Is there anything? Is there anythingelse I could do? I honestly enjoy
the Halfway House, no doubt. What what's the order at the halfway House?
(22:45):
Well, there's there's so much thereanyway for the whole tournament. There's
so much food that they put outfor that thing. It's like they got
to roll you out of there afterwards. It's Coop cooping his team do a
great job over there. I justlearned about the elves a peanut butter and
jelly with bacon. Well that's attwelve club. Now that's the signature that
yeah, yeah, I had it, Yeah I was yeah, still that
(23:11):
you still have the peanut butter Philippretzels at nineteen twelve. Yes, and
the tetos and the tetos flows, and the tetos flows some of my golf
bag too, no doubt. Chris, good luck, man, we're rooting
for you. Shoot me a coupleof guys names, if you know where
they're staying. We could Yeah,I'm not saying yeah we got crazy.
Maybe just a stub toe. Maybea stubbed toe or two. There's three
(23:33):
of us, you know, wecan each be a man you know,
so we're first off in it.Oh, there we go, Steve Seraki,
finally on with us. We wantedto get you on for a while.
We'll get you on again. Um. Now, will we see Steve
on the grounds at our outing? Will he be out there that day?
(23:55):
Do you think we're in negotiations rightnow? Okay, okay, yeah,
yeah, I'm signed. I'm speakingto the family. There's some family obligations,
so we have to work out her. Yeah, connect me with his
wife. Mondays are usually an offday for Steve. He works hard enough
on the weekend. So I gotyou. Gentlemen, Thank you again,
Chris. Good luck man. We'rerooting for you, and we'll talk touch
(24:15):
base with all you guys soon.Yeah, good luck, Thank you,
Gods go birds. All right, guys, let's pause real quickly, right
back, all right, welcome backto swing It and ding It. Got
a little advice out of the guyson the way out right. I gotta
try everything I can, But Imean, I don't know how I would
feel. I'm you're sitting there onyour couch. You're you're either going to
(24:37):
play in the US Open or not. Right, It's man, it's got
to be a pretty pretty surreal experienceout there. It's gotta be cool though
for him, you know, outthere because the atmosphere is different, you
know, a major atmosphere. It'sjust wild. So being there and if
even if he doesn't get in,just you know, kind of taking that
little memory tucking in the back ofhis mind and using that as motivation to
(24:59):
further what Yeah, And I meanhe's played it, he's played it before
Ponds, you know, and it'sthe missed the cut. But I mean,
like I think it's like his thing. He's sort of like taking this
week as you know, he's spendinga week with his coach one on one.
It's not over zoom or over youknow, sending pictures back and forth.
I think there's a there's a lotto learn this week, even if
(25:19):
he doesn't get in, and youknow, plus being on the range and
the short game area with all thesegreat players. I mean, you know,
I know, you know, whenI get you know, when Josh
Ryan from Liberty University's on the range, I'm watching him. I'm watching him
on the short game area. I'mtrying to glean any kind of little thing
that I can and I think Ican imagine he's he's a sponge too.
(25:40):
Yeah, you know, so alot a lot to learn, yeah,
for sure. So you know, there was a lot that that went on
last week. Obviously, I don'tknow if we have any more answers to
really to any of these questions atthis point, but what what did happened
was a pretty damn good tournament wentoff in the RBC Canadian Open, and
you have Nick Taylor, who drainsa seventy two foot eagle, longest ever
put in a four whole playoff, first Canadian to win in nearly seventy years
(26:04):
to win the RBC Canadian Open orthe Canadian Open um you know, posted
a six under sixty six, justa tremendous win. I mean, you
couldn't write a script better than thatfor Canada. And then Adam getting killed,
I mean, you know that kindof stole. The thunder of the
whole thing is Adam had when gettingtrucked by a security guard with a bottle
(26:26):
of champagne. And it was unbelievable. You know, I gotta be honest,
I was rooting for Tommy Fleetwood tofinally knock down a win on the
PGA Tour. I gotta be honest, crazy, he doesn't have a win
yet. I'm not the biggest Canadafan, Okay, I'll be honest.
I was rooting for Tommy Fleetwood andDarnett does Nick Daylor knock in the seventy
two foot unbelievable put and Nance hada great call. And I know Moose
(26:51):
you put that out there. Youknow he had that scripted. He's a
genius. He's a genius at it. And you know, good for Taylor.
It's his third win. He wonthe Sanderson Farms years ago, he
won a Pebble Beach. Now he'sgot the Canadian Open. He's a Canadian,
he's a he's a national hero.Think about that. Yeah, and
how about he starts with starts witha seventy five, right, yeah,
(27:15):
but then Saturday ties the course recordwith a nine hunder sixty three. Insane
golf from day yep, exactly.Tommy Fleetwood to your point, Harry,
no wins but six wins on theEuropean Tour, and uh, you know
I had Hatton, I had pickedhim. Ten birdies on Sunday comes in
eight under. And how about EricCole. Yeah, then I mean talk
about the year he's hit me,Eric Coleah, Yeah, but I mean,
(27:42):
you know, there's so many takeaways. But I mean I certain times
you see things and you're like,oh, this is gonna explode. And
the Adam Hadwin thing was John Memeafter Meme at Angles, it was Brewder
films breaking down who It was justunbelievable. Yeah, and he took it
in stride to healk with a greatsense of humor. You apologized, which
(28:03):
his wife said is a true Canadianform. I mean tweeting about it,
Shenah. Did you guys see theBob Metory one of the oh yeah,
oh yeah, great. Well he'sfunny in general, just like replaying everything.
But that yeah, that audio ispretty good on that one. So
hard. Not too much other successfor you last week, is that right?
(28:26):
This was a little tough for you. Yeah, it was. It
was a rough week. Yeah.I mean, I I'm trying to figure
out I highlight this stuff. EricCole Top twenty. That's the only thing
I had that hit at all forthe entire week. Yeah, I had
him and I had him in amatchup, but uh, I had Hatton,
But you know, I should havetaken him in the top the top
five which we'll get a little mightbe a play this week. Yeah,
(28:48):
I think I might have him circledon here. He's trending as they say,
yeah, you're playing good goal.Yeah, but how about you know
we're dealing with Canada's smoke on thepost while they're nice, crisp, clean
air playing golf up there. Thatwas ironic, wasn't I know? We
had as yeah, brutal, yeah, absolutely brutal air quality, But now
(29:10):
you know it's all cleared out.I managed to get down to the Union
League National played with Harry Donoghue, friend of the show. We had a
blast. That golf course is absolutelyunbelievable. We had a rain delay,
we had a lightning delay, butit you know, I didn't get to
the range to prepare. I gotdown there an hour and a half early
to prepare at the short game areathe range, and it was and they
(29:32):
blew the horn as soon as Idrove into the parking lot. That's my
luck. So I didn't get onthere. You are, I'm telling you,
that's why I will not go toScotland. My wife's like, I
want to go to Scotland. You'llgo without me because I will bring the
rain. Oh my goodness. Playedat Lulu last week. The place is
fabulous. We had a rain delaythere too, about the twelfth hole.
(29:56):
We we got called off the golfcourse. Unbelievable, Oh my goodness.
Yeah. You have the Philadelphia Airportlast night because we had to lay because
of rain. I think I mighthave caused that collapse in some weird way.
Gee, I mean, it's awful. It's crazy conspiracy theorist saying that
it was like set up. Comeon, guys. Yeah, and now
(30:18):
they have to they have to knockdown the southbound side now and it's completely
rebuild. So is that right?Yeah, it's if we if we know
how Philly construction is, that'll bedone in what like four years, twenty
twenty nine. Maybe China would bedone by that. You ever see the
videos of like China, it's likethree days it's back to normal. Someone's
like, somebody get China here tofix. Just get the Amish on the
(30:40):
raise a barn in forty five minutes. Yeah yeah, turn a little butter
while they're at it. Be allyou go. So, uh, you
know I mentioned I have the BigGreen Valley h member guests something I circle
on the calendar every year. SoGreeny and I will be be out there
now. Our buddy Factor who heis, He is a sponsor and are
outing with clear view financially. He'sactually he's bringing in a cigar roller for
(31:00):
us that night, which is tremendous. But his guest is the plus two
Philadelphi Eagle kicker Jake Elliott. Right, so we were just with him this
past weekend. Greeney gets me.In fact, there gets Jake Elliott.
Wow, we know where we're gamblingon this event. Yeah. He plays
a lot of golf, Yeah, but really too for a bit Yep,
(31:23):
he plays in Gap Pats because hewas telling us, oh yeah right,
oh yeah, yeah, yeah,he was in qualifiers, no doubt about
it. Yeah, looking forward toto seeing him play for sure. We
have our Draft Kings contest live. There's a couple more spots whenever there's a
major obviously there's a lot of interestin that. Uh. And we are
probably in the next two weeks we'regonna do a full recap of our of
the golf outing. There is somuch going on. We're getting so excited.
(31:45):
Oh my god. So there's gonnabe three long drive holes with crazy
prizes and then a playoff for abigger prize at the end with hosted by
Wes Patterson. We're gonna have ahe doesn't hit it far? Does he?
No? No, no, nono no. We have our friends
from Pizza Hutt in South Jersey. We're doing a two person chip and put
after the outing while we're sitting upon the patio, we have all one
(32:07):
of four fives DJ Reid Streets onthe course. We have Q one of
two's DJ Nico OsO on the patioafter Tito's has confirmed that they're in with
a floating bar meaning Bloody Mary's inthe morning, Transfusion Store in the round,
and Espresso Martini's post round. WhenI got that text, I was
like espress. Our friends from levLane Agency are providing a speaker for everyone
(32:30):
that shows up for their for theirgolf cart, which is really cool.
I mean, there's just so somuch. You know, Malls Chevy's involved,
Harry, they have you know theSilverado that's going to be out there
now that whole I actually put itto about six feet. I was playing
with our buddy Bill Colarulo from LegalHands of the Face. Yeah, and
I actually got pretty close for thefirst time ever. Is there really tough
(32:51):
hole. But Mall Chevy will beout there supporting all to take some strokes
away from Moose how much he's beenout there at the see legacy, but
play with you any day you guyswant to come help me? Look,
come on over. For eight yearsin a row now, mal Chevrolet has
been South Jersey's number one Chevy dealer. Now. It could be because they
(33:14):
treat their customers just right. That'swhy they call. Mal Chevy was voted
number top one hundred dealer in thecountry for customer satisfaction. But I still
think it's because of their motto theysell Chevies for less. Find the perfect
drive at Maul Chevrolet is a MaulChevrolet on Haddonfield rolled in Cherry Hill,
right across from the Cherry Hill Mallor online Mall Chevy dot com. Find
(33:37):
your perfect drive at mal Chevrolet MallChevy dot Com. Let's go all right,
I'll tell you wow. Let's let'stake another quick break and we'll be
right back to preview the twenty twentythree US Open. All right, and
welcome back to swing it and dingit. As we are approaching the US
(34:00):
Open, LA Country Club hosting forthe first time and the first time in
seventy five years that LA is hostingthe US Open right there in Beverly Hills.
We'll have some primetime golf Father's Daygolf on Sunday. We talked a
little bit about the guys about avery interesting setup with three of the longest
part threes in US Open history overtwo hundred and eighty yards and also the
(34:20):
shortest on one of the holes, which is pretty interesting. Five part threes,
three part fives, and they're sayingit's a little bit wider than normal.
Everyone's talking about ball striking, chippingbeing very very paramount here and the
weather seems to be good. HarryMays will start with you, what are
you looking forward to the most herewith this this US Open. Yeah,
well, I'm just looking forward toseeing the golf course really, because you
(34:42):
know, we've we've never really seenit. I've been watching some Golf Channel
where they do some of the reviewsof the holes and the you know,
the drone flyovers are great. Fivepart threes, like you mentioned, moves
four, seven, nine, eleven, and fifteen eleven is the one that's
getting all the attention because it couldgo up to two hundred and ninety yards,
so they're gonna move these te's backand forth. I imagine, you
know, the part three fifteenth couldcould play like an eighty yard hole with
(35:07):
a bunker in the back and areal narrow sliver agreen to hit, which
I'm sure these pros are going tobe complaining about it when they try to
hit like a sixty degree wedge andit bounces right into the back bunker.
That's not going to please any ofthese guys, I can tell you that.
But three par five's, you knowthe first hole. George Thomas is
known for having sort of an easierfirst hole, you know, to his
(35:30):
golf courses. There, Riviera isa very easy par five. In fact,
when they come back there for theI think the PGA, the US
Open in the next couple of yearsgonna they're gonna make that a par four,
and they're gonna back the tea upon two and make it a par
five just to make it harder. But you know, an easy par five.
They get the fourteenth, which isright next to the Playboy Mansions,
(35:52):
another par five. But the routingof this golf course is just exquisite.
The bunkering is unbelievable. No water, But what is it called no water?
What are they called barancas? Barancascommon thing and the ditches and you
know you have that at Tory Pines, you have that at Riviera. It's
just sort of a common you know, uh landscape structure in California. But
(36:15):
it reminds you of sort of oneof the sand belt golf courses in Australia.
Maybe a little bit of Pinehurst,a little bit of Seminole. There's
all. I mean this, thisgolf course is exquisite and I just can't
wait to see it. Um.You know they there's gonna be blow up
holes and there's gonna be holes wherethese guys are gonna make eagle. You
(36:37):
know it's it's you know, you'regetting a rough around those bunkers. It
doesn't go back down in the sand. The sand is really soft. It's
not these firm bunkers that a lotof these guys are really used to.
So this is gonna be there.I think there's gonna be a lot of
complaining after they get done. Afterthey get done, was saying how beautiful
it is because it's right set inthe city, which is really unique,
(36:59):
uh and so super cool. SoI can't wait. You know, George
Thomas, you know White Marsh Valley. This is gonna be so cool.
I can't wait, no doubt.Danielle, you have some experience at some
US opens. What are you lookingforward to most for this one? I
mean, it's so hard for meto follow up Harry right there he checked
out the boxes. I mean,I found myself going down a rabbit hole
(37:20):
earlier today just you know, lookingat us open to tag on Instagram.
Then just seeing um, you know, all the spectators, what they're putting
up, you know, like Harrymentioned the Playboy mansion, all the monkeys
running around them, just Chi's housesout there too, exactly. I think,
yeah, yeah. And then likeHarry said, it's in the middle
of the city, like the firsttea you know, I told facts.
(37:42):
I'm like, okay, give mea B and C, give me these
videos. This is what I wantto see. And he's like, look,
first hole, He's like, you'resitting on the tea box. You
literally are aiming right at the BeverlyHilton. He's like, where else are
you? Like, just in themiddle of a city. Just hey,
yeah, you want to aim rightthere. Usually it's like, hey,
between those two trees, it's likenope, bread at the Beverly Hill.
It's pretty wild, just the setup there. But I'm just excited to
(38:05):
see just greak off. I mean, there's something around major championships. It's
just so fun to watch, youknow. It just kind of feels a
little bit more like Christmas if youwill. Oh yeah, So how about
some of these stats that I tookthis from our buddy Jeff Ulrich, who
was on with US. Six ofthe past sixteen US Open winners had a
win the season before. Okay,Eleven of thirteen had at least four top
(38:30):
tens okay, and in the PGAChampionship before the last four winners were inside
the top ten. Right, Soa US Open is typically won by someone
who is trending and playing well. This is not necessarily a long shot type
of event. So you know whenwe see the line, something to keep
in mind for sure. Well onthat I was talking to be just about
(38:51):
it earlier before we jumped on,and he's like, it's just it's different.
And historically, like great athletes usuallywin the US Open because it's such
a gruel task. Not even likephysically but mentally as well. It just
takes so much out of you. It's like it's almost like an athletes major,
which is probably why Brooks plays themso well. Yep, yep,
I want to see that stat though. We should make that into a graphic
(39:13):
and put that out there for thefor the fans. Yeah, yeah,
no doubt about it. But weknow if we're going to see the line,
we do it with our friends fromDraftKings, the best place to go
to get into all the action thisweek and every week right now with us
new customers or receive an odds boostto add plus one thousand to any pre
tournament wager up to ten dollars onany golfer to win. Draft Kings is

But you know, download the Draftingsports Book app now, use promo

gamble responsibly. Harry May's I feellike we're going to be aligned on some
of these. You think I'm gonnastart with my one and done. I
(40:22):
had Scotti, I had Scotty onthe board, so it's the US Open.
I'm taking Scotti, right, Butwhat else are you like it?
In this one? I'm taking Kaepkaon the one and done because you know,
there's only one other time I canuse him. Yeah. Probably should
have used him, you know,at the PGA or the Masters, because
he finished second and first respectively inthose. So he's probably due to,
(40:44):
you know, hit a couple ofbad shots and missed the cut. But
I also like him. Plus twoforty and a top five ham Smith is
looking pretty good to me too. This is like an Australian golf course plus
twenty five hundred to win plus twotwo forty for a top ten hat and
as hot as hell. I'm gonnatake him at least in the top twenty
(41:06):
and in a matchup plus one fifteenin top twenty one DraftKings, and I'm
taking him over McElroy. He's plusmoney over McElroy in a matchup. I
can't wait to fade Rory McElroy.I mean when I see that, right,
just like jumping off the top ropewith an elbow drop right into the
throat. We're taking hat and plusone twenty five. I'm taking Fenwe over
(41:30):
Fleetwood. Fleet Fleetwood is just he'sgot to be just like I don't know
what he's thinking right now. Afterlast week, Scheffler is minus one forty
over John Ram. Think about that, minus one forty over John Ram,
the first player and the second player. That much difference is to stomp his
(41:52):
ass the Lions and I'm gonna takeRose minus one twenty over Bryson Deshambo and
matchups. I'll also take our buddyEric Cole plus two forty for a top
thirty like that. Love Love DanielleInjury Draft Kings Fantasy Uh Contest, I
will be I I saw the invite. I just haven't I have Yes,
(42:19):
I definitely have thoughts. Um.We talk about trending, and I tell
you guys all the time that's kindof just my approach with with my gambling
is you know, when you're playinggood golf, you're playing good golf.
So trending right now. Danny McCarthy, Um, we need to get him
on the show. As you guyssaid, UM, we've seen that video
circulating around him just draining threes.I don't know if you guys saw that.
Did you see him? Yea,yeah, yeah, oh yeah,
(42:43):
yeahstball. He's a heck of ahigh school player. He's an athlete.
He's an athlete. His entire familiesathletes, like his sister played lacrosse.
I think his entire families all liked one athletes. But just on the
topic of, you know, playinggood golf trending right now, I like
Danny. UM. I don't knowif I have him as the winner,
but I definitely have him, UMin my in my lineup this week.
(43:05):
And then we talked about ball striking. UM, so Scottie best ball striker,
as long as he can get someof those puts to drop. Um.
He was seen with a wider styleScottie this week. Um so it's
kind of interested to see how hisputting is. But Scottie and Denny will
definitely um be making my lineup.Tremendous, tremendous love at Harry, I'm
with you. And also some ofthose stats we talked about, right,
(43:25):
Xander has a T ten and augusta. Yeah, I think Xander could get
over the hump here um Cam SmithT nine into PGA right, um home.
It's funny. I bet Home onDecember no on February first, thinking,
oh, it's the same odds asthink you can get him now thirty
five, No dropped like I'm gettingin early. I got in early two
(43:49):
at the same number Moosey went downand now it's back up. Unbelievable.
That's I'm actually taking Patrick Read ina top five for very good around the
greens in which the game, andyeah, he might step up here.
I like to I know, Iknow, you know guys that are trending
to your point, Daniel Danielle. You have Hoplin Um Justin Rose in the
(44:12):
top top five at plus a fiftyand the two guys that have a ton
of explol. I don't know howmuch a ton Is, but uh that
that stood out as experience on playingthis golf course. Patrick Rogers and Justin
Sue they were the names that cameup as have played this course frequently.
So you can get some really goodvalue with Patrick Rogers at at plus four
thousand and the top five and Justinsame thing thirty five. Yeah, yeah,
(44:34):
he's good, he played at USCyep. So how about this?
How about this bet? How aboutthe top debutante? So their debut,
right, who's debuting Cam Young pluseighteen hundred as the top person debuting in
a US Open. And then howabout this top senior. Here's your choices,
Phil at one forty, Padrick Harringtonat one seventy five or Stu Sink
(44:58):
at two ten. I kind oflike Stu Sink the biggest number Harrington hits
it. Wait what are those membersagain? So Phil was plus one forty,
Harrington's plus one seventy five, andStu Sink is plus two ten.
Wow, I don't mind Stu there, yeah, young guy, Yes,
I think I think Harrington might hitit farther than any of those guys though.
(45:19):
Yep. And then on DraftKings youhave a top five parlay, so
you got Brooks and Scottie Scheffler atplus seven fifty if they're both in the
top five. I like that onetoo. Wow. Yeah, a lot
of great stuff. Checkout DraftKings sportsbook, use coding, awesome props and
uh and and take a shot atthis thing. That's awesome. Now.
I don't know if you saw myshirt. I've got this shirt. I've
(45:39):
found it like a couple of weeksago. It's the two thousand and two
Bethpage Black US logo. Yeah,yeah, it's it's it's a weird logo.
It's like it's a little caddy boy. All right. That was the
first US I ever went to.Okay, yeah, jam boy? What
(46:00):
have you guys? Never heard ofa jam boy? No heard a job
boy? Who's on Twitter? Youguys? You guys have to google.
I can google it to get theexact thing. But essentially, back in
the day a caddy, they wouldtake him and smear jam and jelly all
over him. Oh hang on,let's have a guest speaker real quick,
(46:23):
explain it for me. Wasn't itOkay? It wasn't In America? It
was okay, I believe what TheBritish Empire ruled in Asia bread and saying,
but let's google it to get theexact facts. The long story short
of what it was was they wouldsmear jam all over a caddy so it
(46:45):
would keep the bugs off of theplayer players, and if he did a
good job caddying at the end ofthe round, he could take it home
to his family to feed them.We should suggest that rude jam strawberry jam
all. Ever, let's just sendthem, send them in an anonymous jar
jam in the mail. Yeah, when the British gentry went to play golf,
(47:07):
they would have two men, thecaddie and a jam boy. The
jam boys sole purpose was to keepthe mosquitoes away. You know what?
We need that when you play downat like Sea View in the summer,
Yes, with the with the greenyflo Yeah. Wow. So anyway,
Harry, we went way off topic. Finished thoughts. No, but I
mean, like, like thirty sixthousand items per day will be sold merchandise
(47:28):
wise at the US Open. How'sthat feel? How's that share feel on
you? Right now? You play? It feels like a sweatshirt. It's
a cutter and buck and it's it'sliterally like it weighs like thirty pounds isn't
it amazing when you watch these guyslike even old things it filled like impleted
khaki, like a heavy shirt andlike bowling shoes and you're out there.
Oh it's hilarious. And now therewere joggers and hoodies right right. But
(47:51):
I mean you think about that. The merchandise pavilions are open for one hundred
and thirty three hours. That meansthree thousand items will be sold every hour.
Wow, that is how our moneyjack? Are you guys pro shop
junkies Like if I'm there, Imean, if I'm there, yeah,
moose, I think every pro shophas his American Express on file. Oh
(48:14):
wow, it's bad. Yeah,it's bad. We need a number for
you. Yes, I need help. I really do, I really really
do. All right, listen, guys, that was fun. It was
great talking to those guys out inLa Man. I'm I'm really rooting for
Chris. He seems like such anI hope he gets in right like yeah,
and great to hear from Din Diganand Steve Seraki and yeah, I
(48:36):
mean this is this is going tobe an interesting one. Obviously, all
the all the eyes in the sportsworld are on the game of golf.
These guys are sick of answering thequestions, but they're going to have to
answer the questions over and over andover again. Did you hear Brooks on
his way out of his press conferencetoday, No, let's see you next
week of Travelers. Oh wow,I walked off the stage. What Yeah,
(48:58):
really unbelievable, leaving people like whathe just wants to start? Yeah,
I love tremendous. Tremendous, Butwe will be back next week to
recap it. We'll have more informationabout the golf outing, which is completely
closed and sold out. By theway, we can't fit anyone else in
there. Sorry if you waited alittle bit too long, but you're out.
And I know. I was withJoe Clark last week and he's like,
(49:19):
wait, I heard it sold out. He's like, can you do
anything? And I'm like, Idon't know. So yeah, maybe they'll
be if we need to round outif someone's out, and it may need
to fill a foursome or out atwo or a one, and we might
post like the day or two beforein case anyone wants to get in.
But great sponsors, um you know, excited with with the Tito's and Exfinity
Live. I hear that Exfinity Liveis gonna have some of their buckle Bunnies
(49:40):
from pbr out on the Putting Greentwo to help some folks out. So
oh my, yeah, that shouldbe interesting putt golf instruction. That'll work.
Yeah, and I'll get I'll keepyou guys posted on the member guests
right, I'll keep it. Howmany slices of Corporate Lys Tomtepie I have,
like all the good stuff. Yeah, what I'm saying, that's going
to be fun. And one dayI'll tell the story about it, how
(50:00):
Harry almost got me killed by Joecorpolice. Just leave it there. We'll
roll that into the opening segment nextweek. That's right, all right,
everybody, we'll talk to you nextweek. Enjoy the US Open to listen,
swing it and ding it
