what's next. Comcast Business Powering Possibilities. It's just gotta get out there and

(00:25):
swing and ding it. Yeah, you know, just this is gonna go
out there and trying to swing itand dang it. All right, Hello
and welcome to swing it and dingit. You are looking live Harry May's
and Danielle the Country Club of Scranton. We are here for the NIPA invitation
of the third Annual. It's incredibleto see cause we were here two years

(00:46):
ago. We couldn't make it lastyear, and just to see what this
is turning into is absolutely incredible. We had a chance to play the course
earlier. Just an incredible place, incredible golf course. But Harry challenging green,
thanks, just talk about it.Oh, it's it's too much golf
course for me. Moose. Icame to the grips today and I told

(01:06):
you on the thirteenth tea box thatI'm man enough to know that This is
too much golf course for me.I need to be in Florida. I
need to be on the coast ofSouth Carolina with flat golf. I can't.
This up and down is just toomuch for me. But what a
beautiful and fantastic venue this is.I mean, Walter Travis props to you,
my mam. Yeah, I meanthis is incredible. So, Danielle,

(01:27):
talk about everything going on this wholeweekend up here. Absolutely. So
this year is our third annual event, as you already said, and we
are a Play Yellow event, whichis a Barbara and Jack Nicholas Play Yellow
which is a program of Children's MiracleNetwork. So our beneficiary is a Janet

(01:48):
Weiss Children's hospital in our In ourgural year, we've raised fifty thousand dollars
and donated fifty thousand. We doublethat in the second year to one hundred
thousand dollars, and this year we'relooking to double again and raise two hundred
thousand dollars. So, as yousaid, the growth of this tournament from
its inception has been absolutely tremendous. The support we've had from sponsors in the

(02:08):
community and everything together. Now beinga Play Yellow event, it's just been
incredible to watch it all about usand at the end of the day,
we have some really good golfers playingthis course over two days, and we
are fortunately fortunate enough to have withus last year's winner of the NEEP Invitational,
Chris Wider, Welcome to Swinging Dinging. Thanks for having me, Thanks

(02:28):
for having me. It's great tobe back at Scranton. Yeah, and
this is this is not only Chris'ssecond year, this is his third year.
He's been a supporter from Brandon's visionfrom the beginning. One of our
great friends from back home, andBrandon said, hey, Whitney pros come
up here, and this is histhird year. So thanks for that,
Chris. We really appreciate it.I wouldn't miss it. I wouldn't miss
it. Brandon as a close friend, and you know, when he had

(02:49):
this idea a few years ago,it was exciting for all of us.
And just to be a part ofit and watch it grow has been has
been awesome. And to win lastyear was, you know, really really
cool. And this golf course isnot it's a rare test. You know,
you don't get to see places likethis too often, particularly in this
condition. I would say it's youknow, aside from maybe the rough,

(03:10):
it's every bit as challenging as likea major championship venue. Wow, look
at that little dragonfly. What theheck? It was beautiful. But yeah,
it's it's awesome to be back atcountry Clubs Grant and I'll always support
this event. It's got such agreat mission and the members have become very

(03:32):
close friends. I think these typesof events are so special and and this
should be used as a template formore events like this throughout the country because
it's a win win for everybody. The players that come have a great time,
the members that play have a greattime, and the charity benefits a
ton. So yeah, it's awesometo be a part of it. We'll
tell us about last years of vanI understand went to a playoff. It

(03:54):
did, yeah, chance it wasyeah last year. Well, the you
know, the conditions here are ina normal event where you're contending, you
know, you might be in anaggressive mindset to be trying to make a
lot of birdies and that just isn'treally the case here. For me last
year, it was it was justtrying to get myself a birdie put on
the green, I mean, thecourse is really really difficult. So last

(04:15):
year I think I've finished three underpar or four underpar maybe, And you
know, that was just like parpar par par, trying not to make
bogies because if you get aggressive outhere, yeah you can make some birdies,
but that's just gonna kind of turnaround and bite you, and you're
gonna make some bogies. So youreally I was tamed by this golf course
last year, and I kind ofhad a different mindset because my partner was

(04:38):
struggling and I figured that we didn'treally have a chance for the team event.
So I was like, Okay,I'm going to carry the whole load
here at different style. I'm notreally gonna go at pins. I'm just
gonna kind of get it on thegreen and hit the greens on the part
three's, and you know, Iwas hitting it awesome and fortunate to get
into the playoff, and you know, Brad and I had a nice little
battle. I felt bad for himbecause he had to play the first the

(04:59):
team playoff and then turn around andmeet me on eighteen t like, hey,
I'm ready for the second playoff.I was like, yeah, let's
go. So it was a lotof fun and it's great to relive those
memories. Can I ask for theteam here for Moose, Stan Yell and
me, how do you play thetenth hole? I putted from thirty yards
short of the green and putted itoff the green, So I think there's

(05:23):
It depends where the pin is.You know. First, the first key
to that hole is that you hitthe fairway. Yeah, and then if
it's a front pin, you wantto bounce it in there from short.
If it's a backpin, you wantto land it, you know, middle
of the green tops because if youland anything towards the back over that hill,
it's gone. Yeah. I learnedthat the hard way the first year
I played it. You know,I think I got abused by this course

(05:44):
the first year that I played andlearned some hard lessons quickly. So it
was it was nice to turn aroundlast year and rectify that. So all
three of used by the question. It's a beast and if you're not mentally
prepared for it, you're just like, oh my god, what did I
get The guy with your skill levelreact when shot. When that happens and
you're like, oh my god, that you just went off the green,
you try to do I mean, you're just doing the best you can on

(06:06):
every shot, and as long asyou're committed to every shot, then you
know, you try not to getupset when you get bad bound. I
mean, they got elephants buried inthe middle of the green here. If
I happen to land on the backside of one and it shoots over,
then that's just a bad break. You know, those are going to even
out over the course of time. That's what Teddy told me. Brandon sad
the first time I ever came up. You're like ten years ago. He's
like, you look at He's likeon eighteen green, there's an elephant buried

(06:29):
under there. He's like that undulation. I'm like, really, He's like,
no, I think it's a woolymam. Effectually not sure, Yeah,
it's not. And when those greencomplexes were designed, you know,
green's rolled at like six or sevenon a centimeter. You know, when
you crank them up to thirteen,it's like, oh, we got a
different test. So and then yougot people like Brandon setting the whole location.
But it makes it plays into creativity, you know, it plays into

(06:54):
like evil. You know, youcan't just land the ball next to the
hole and expect it to stay there. You need to like figure out where
to land and where to leave it. And you know that that's that's a
challenge that I really enjoyed. Wedon't get to do very often. So
Chris talk us we we we callit your golf Journey on this show.
Talked to us about you know, how you started, where you started playing,
where you were from originally, andnow what you're doing now. So

(07:15):
yeah, I grew up in Woodbury, Connecticut, which is a small town
about a two hours from here, straight east on eighty four, and that
was three. I grew up playinga lot of sports. I was a
three sport athlete through high school, played hockey and soccer, and you know,
started taking golf a bit more seriouslywhen I was probably like fifty fourteen

(07:40):
fifteen and got a scholarship to goto Yukon, which was you know growing
up. I was like, okay, I want to play college golf.
I'm gonna go somewhere down south. So it was very funny how it ended
up that I was going to storesConnecticut to you know, freeze my ass
off all nighter. But that wasa blessing and that that was an amazing
for years there, and that's whereI met Brandon. Brandon was playing at

(08:01):
Temple when I was at Yukon, and so I think it was my sophomore
year. We got paired together ina thirty sixth ohold event and we always
you know, saw each other atconference and stuff, and anyways, I
played at Yukon and I got done. I wanted to, you know,
give the pro golf thing a shot, and felt like I, you know,
because I had played three sports growingup, felt like I had some

(08:24):
more to prove and felt like I, you know, certainly wasn't as good
as I was gonna. So Imoved to Jupiter back when it was cheap
to move to Jupiter, and Ithink cheaper at least. And I've been
there seven years. I've been playingtours, mini tours, I've been playing

(08:46):
you know, all over the world, really Latin America for three years.
That's Brandon and I were traveling ona bunch together a few years ago.
We had a lot of good memoriesdown there. This year has been mostly
I missed at Que last year,so this year has been I did not
go back to Latin. I've beendoing mostly you know, stayed opens and
different Monday qualifiers and really everything. You know, I've been traveling a bunch,

(09:09):
so I'm getting ready now to goback to both Q schools starting in
France next week and then or thefollowing week, and then uh and West
Texas at the end of the monthin October. So yeah, that's where
I'm at. I mean, it'sa it's a total grind, obviously,
but you you learn to kind ofyou can't compare yourself. It's easy to

(09:35):
compare yourself to your friends and lookaround and be like, I'm you know,
guys are like thirties the magic age, right, So you get to
thirty and you're like, okay, where I'm supposed to be here. If
I'm not there, then I needto stop. But I didn't really feel
that way. I've I've always kindof just compared myself to myself and feel
like I you know, as longas I feel like I'm getting better,
you know, that's kind of whereI want to go with it. Talk

(09:56):
about that Monday qualifier life, man'slike, oh, that's tough. I
mean, especially corn Ferry because talentthe corn ferry, there's no preques,
so there's three hundred guys for fourspots. Wow wow. So that can
be daunting because you're basically like,Okay, I just need to beat everybody

(10:18):
to get into the tournament. Ilost in a playoff in the first Monday
of the year for Panama, whichwas a two spot qualifier, and that
was just like, you know,it's it sucks, but like at the
end of the day, you needto be like, Okay, I went
out and played a great round.Like you just keep doing that, good
stuff will happen. So the guyswho like keep the faith and do the

(10:41):
Monday qualifying stuff. I don't dothat every week, but the guys who
do, like I, God blesshim because that's just the I mean,
the thought of like doing twelve Mondaysin a row without I kind of sprinkle
in like events where I feel likeI can make some money because if you
know, if you if you missa Monday, you're just out money for
the week, like you're there's nothingreally, So I kind of structure it

(11:01):
differently where I'll do like three Mondaysand then I'll do three straight straight opens
where I can you know, padmy wallet a little bit and make and
make some money to keep going, you know, Wow. Yeah, it's
incredible journey always. But as wesaid, Chris, great friend of us
and supporter of this uh the NITAInvitational year after year. Not only did
Chris come up this year, healso got one of his really close friends,

(11:26):
Denny McCarthy, to donate some items. Chris, tell us what items
Denny setting you up here with?Yeah, to help raise some money and
hooks up the NIPA Invitational. Let'sgive some I think he okay, So
there's I know, there's a whitecircle t head cover signed on the bottom,
on the bottom because that you know, if people want to use it

(11:48):
then it can still look good onyour bag. But there is a signature
under there. Then there's a signedwedge, assigned glove and assigned ball.
Incredible all to help contribute to themain reason that we're here this weekend,
raising money for the jan Ways Children'sHospital. So thank you, Dennis.
Next, thanks for your support yearafter year. Is Danny the new boss
of the Moss on tour. He'sthe boss of all the Moss. He

(12:13):
rolls the rock, he rolls therock. Yeah, he can definitely put
I mean I've played putt putt withhim and he's just as good there as
he is. Paying three. Firsttime I ever saw him shoot threes,
he went around the world twice withoutmissing. I was like, dude,
what is going on here? Imean, he's just got a freak hand
eye thing where ping pong darts doesn'tmatter what it is, He's an absolute

(12:35):
freak at it. It's it's quick. We got to ask him the juggle
facts. Does he does juggle?Of course he does, because someone was
like, can you juggle? Andhe was like no, and then he
just youtubed it and like the nextday I was he's like on a wake
board. Damn bro and gravel.Chris, thank you so much for joining
us. Thanks again for year threecoming back supporting the new defending champ.

(12:58):
Here, guys, that's right, that's Chris. Thank you, Chris.
Tremendous great hearing. Uh, youknow, people at different levels, how
they're doing it, how you're gettingthere. Chris seems to have a pretty
good grasp one. Yeah, absolutely, And you know, I would say
that the man of the hour isHarry May's based off of that long drive
that evolved on number one and Iwere like, my god, no,

(13:20):
yeah, we gotta get you playingin this next week, but we'll have
be come join us, Brandon, come on over, get on the bike,
ask a few questions here. Andthis guy has so much time we
can probably keep him for like threehours. What do you think I love
how Daniel's directing traffic. Let's gocome on these live events or where she
just like really steps directs all thetraffic in our household. And I do

(13:50):
not say a word because your sentencethere. So Brandon, I want to
ask you what this means to you, But I don't want the golf channel.
I love giving back. Answer. You're from this area, you went
to Temple, You've made it tothe PGA Tour, and now this is
the third year. You're coming backhere and giving back to your community,

(14:11):
your friends, your family, peopleto coming out to support. Like,
what does this truly feel like toyou? Deep down? I mean,
listen, it shows how much Icare about the area, right yeah,
I mean I have wanted to dothis. I'm telling you my entire life
almost I've talked about it so manytimes, even you know, high school

(14:33):
college. I'm like, you know, one day I want to I want
to make something, bring people uphere, let them see what cool things
we have. Right, so tobe able to do it and kind of
see it come to life and now, I mean I never thought a couple
of years and this is pretty cooland it shows how amazing people have been
and the support that I've had isI mean, I really can't put it

(14:56):
into words how thankful I am toall these people who have contributed. And
I mean, thank you to mywife because it is our one year letting
anniversary on Sunday and she let usthat's that step On Jackson A beautiful the

(15:22):
spread we got. We had acrustables we have. You know, you
talk about like you know the supportyou have, and you know whenever you
play in this area, the peoplewere all thick for Team B. But
Shatht you know, wins. Yousee that support system he has. We
talked about, Harry and I talkedabout earlier. It's like, you know,
some people you could you wonder ifthat puts more pressure on, but
other people just feed off of thatand know that people are out there and

(15:45):
have your back. How important isthat when when you're when you're out there
and I think you know something likethis, obviously it's all friends and family,
but can you can you take thatenergy with you, of course.
I mean it's again I always Itell people all the time, I like,
don't deserve how many people support me. I mean it's it's it's been
amazing my entire life. And again, so thankful for it. Right,

(16:11):
people come out all the time, whenever you know, I'm within a fairly
easy drive of the area and theycome out in droves. It's it's to
be hard for us to find toomany people that have that kind of support
system. And for that is againbeyond words. How thankful I am.
It's it's crazy, and you know, I have a lot of great friends

(16:33):
and great family and great dog. He's the fourth host of the show.
But but yeah, it's it ispretty cool that again it shows what we're
able to make this tournament in threeyears. Right, that's without that support
system, this is just not happening. Yea. So now, Beat you

(16:56):
said, this is something you've talkedabout forever, which you have. I
mean year after year, he's like, we gotta do this, we gotta
do this. So it being inits third year, one of the things
that you wanted to do, otherthan support and give back to the community,
was showcase the country Club of Scriptand you've always raved about this being
one of the greatest courses in thearea of not the state. Talk about
the course, talk about Aaron, talk about what kind of test these guys

(17:18):
are going to see this weekend.Yeah, I mean, if anybody's an
architect, texture nut, it's nineteentwenty six Walter Travis that you know,
if anybody's played a bunch of otherWalter Travis golf courses, this is right
up at the top, if notclose. So at the end of the
day, it's every time people comeup here, you know, they cannot

(17:41):
believe that this property is instagram inprinciplina. You know, if you took
this and transplanted down to Philadelphia,in the mecca of all the golf courses,
right would that you know, allthe hypotheticals right where would that end
up making this golf course? Yeah? So, but to have this here
is so remarkable, and you know, a lot of people don't understand right

(18:06):
what we have here. So yougotta be excited for some of the guys
each year that come here for thefirst time, and we like showing off,
you know, your new car.So it is unanimous where everybody just
goes this is unbelievable, Like, how how is this here? How do
people not know about this? Imean our superintendent, Aaron Jared hno Is.

(18:27):
I mean, I don't know ifhe ever has slept in the last
since he got this job. Idon't know if he's gotten more than two
hours. The amount of time hespends on this property is absolutely insane.
I encourage the guy to take abouta three month vacation this winter because he
deserves it. For how much timehe's he's put onto this golf course and

(18:49):
the conditions day and day out. It's amazing how he does it because we
have a lot of play here rightduring you know, a regular day in
season. So, I mean,I played the greens this morning. I
think they were running somewhere around fourteen. You know, it's like, it's
insane, right, two times? Is that it? I had? I

(19:11):
had the over, I had theover. Yeah, number ten right here.
Yeah, it's it's pretty awesome.And that's that's the greatest thing about
this place, I think is yourability. And I think Chris was talking
about this right the whole locations thatwe set out. It's they're tough,
right, but if you know andunderstand golf well, how to use your

(19:36):
imagination. Right, we have areasand at every whole location. We strategically
did it so that if someone wantsto they can use their imagination to get
it close. If even if theydon't think they can get it close,
they can get it close. Soif someone doesn't have that imagination factor,
they're gonna have a tough time. But if you are able to kind of

(19:59):
think through it with a little bitout of the box thinking, you can
actually play this place incredibly well, even with the heart dispense. Wow,
I was very much in the box. Yeah, we've got to work on
our imagination. Yeah, it's amazing. So we talk about what's next for

(20:21):
you, right, Obviously this isa huge part. This is something you
look forward to, the timing ofit, with the tour starting back up
with the fall season. You're outin Apple last week. Talk to us
about where you are and you knowyour plans for the next couple of months.
Yeah, I mean, listen,I obviously have had a pretty tough
last year or so. I reallyhaven't played that much great golf unfortunately a

(20:42):
couple obviously, little injury stuff.I don't know, I'm gonna get my
back taken care of. I think, I think this winner where I finally
am going to be out of painfor God for good and it's you know,
going to be an easy solution too. So other than that, went
through a couple of different and kindof swing change things that didn't work,

(21:03):
didn't take. So a lot ofsearching, right, And I talk about
it a lot where it's professional golfis ninety percent searching for anybody that plays
right and ten percent let's take advantageof my good golf. Wow. Right,
So even if you see some guysyou know, at the top of

(21:27):
the leader board often write some ofthe best players in the world, they
still might be searching that week, you know, and you see them grinding
on certain things in the range, right yeah, yeah, but in but
they're looking to find that. Again, everybody's always looking to find that and
that doesn't last long, right,Padrick Harrington, I did a panel with

(21:47):
him earlier this year and he saidit gread. He goes, I think,
you know, per year, ifsomebody has three to four weeks so
they're at their best, that's alot, right. It's crazy too if
you think about the sport other sports, it's like you have you know,
a singular focus. It's like there'sso many aspects of the game. You
could be driving the crap out ofthe ball but not putting. You could
be putting but you're not chipping. You could be chipping but not hitting your

(22:10):
long iron. It's like to geteverything together in the same week, it
just takes. It takes that perfectstorm of things just coming together, I
would imagine, and the hard workthat goes into it. But one little
thing and then you're you know, you're you're back to working on mode.
Yeah, and realistically, every timeevery time you win, I mean,
at least for me, I've Ifelt like I didn't do everything and I

(22:30):
could. You know, there's acouple times where I've won when Okay,
I'm like that was a great week, right right, you know, like
in the Dominican Republic, I wonby like five or six and shot twenty
whatever and they're almost got to thirtyunder. So it's like, okay,
that week and you know, Ikind of I kind of had it.
But other than that, you know, in Bogata, I didn't necessarily drive

(22:52):
it amazing the entire week. Ididn't quite chip it amazing during the entire
week, but I managed myself reallywell when I one putted really well,
but I still had stretches where Imissed some pots. Right, So again
taking an account, managing your expectations, understanding that things are going to happen,
but understanding what's good enough, andgetting back to that point of searching

(23:15):
always like for what your best canbe. Let's just try to make sure
we get to the point where wecan compete. Right. So that's where
I'm I feel like I'm trending towardsright now. I've been doing a lot
of you know, digging it outof their kind of kind of thing lately,
and I feel like it's it's alot closer than it's been in a

(23:37):
long time. So I'm really excitedfor the last five events, So Jackson,
Mississippi, where we spent our ourhoneymoon honey but yeah, and I
will not be going back to Ya, but of their Vegas. And then

(24:00):
a couple of weeks off before thelast three weeks stretch of the season,
which is uh Cobbo, Bermuda andRSM at Sea Island. So a lot
of great events left, a coupleof golf courses that are gonna be really,
really good for me, and I'mexcited. I mean, listen,
if you told me a couple ofyears ago that five events on the PGA
tour to you know, do whatI need to do, I would definitely

(24:22):
take it. Yeah, oh yeah, I mean during those these upcoming events,
how much do you think you canpush it? Like, are you
gonna push it or is it?Yeah? I mean, that's just not
in my nature to not push it, right right, I'm just not going
to happen. But you know,I've I've I have a I have a
great doctor, that is, I'vebeen speaking with a lot, and you

(24:47):
know, at the end of theday, if I can tolerate the pain,
it's not gonna change what he's gonnabe able to fix, right.
So it's just even the pain.I feel like I can tolerate a lot
of pain. It's the fact thatsometimes doesn't work right, So and I
but I feel again, it wasinteresting in NAPA. I didn't really know
exactly how it was going to reactunder you know, days of walking and

(25:14):
playing and back to competition and thatkind of thing. And it was interesting
that the more the week progressed andthe more I pushed it and actually kind
of got better, which was interesting. Maybe it was the wine out there,
I'm not totally sure, but Ifelt like I actually played some pretty

(25:37):
decent I thought I played actually reallynice. On the second day, a
couple bad drives that really kind ofgot me out of out of position,
and then you know, three orfour lipouts and that kind of thing.
Just a couple weird things happened, but I felt like my game was really
really close to going. Okay, that's like a sixty five situation here coming

(26:00):
around the corner. So I'm reallythrilled to have seen that out in Apple
where I'm like, Okay, Ican actually push this. I can I
can do this. It's not asituation where for me, I don't feel
like I can compete. I feelI feel like I can compete with where
I'm at, even though you know, pain's pain, right, Yeah,
awesome. Well, listen, weknow as the host you're getting pulled in

(26:21):
a million directions. We appreciate someof your time and incredibly proud of what
you're doing here. It's great tobe a little bit of a little part
of it and excited to see howthis continues to grow year in, year
out. So congratulations on what you'veaccomplished so far. Thank you. What
you're going to continue to do,thank you, and I appreciate you guys
for coming up here and supporting likeyou do. And it's been pretty amazing.
I hope you continue to be apart of it. Absolutely. Let's

(26:44):
take a quick break and we'll beright back, all right, Welcome back
to Swinging and Ding. It alwaysgreat to talk to the host of the
NIPA Imitational, Brandon Matthews, andget some perspective on what's going on out
here. And you know that youcould you could feel through him the love
he has for this place and area, and I think that's what it's all
about over these next couple of days. So tremendous to see when we are
joined by another guest. This issecond year playing, I believe, Matt

(27:08):
Ryan. Welcome to Swing It andDing. It's playing on PGA Latino America
Tour. Correct. So I talkto us about the country club is scrant
and playing here last year. Whatyou what your impressions were when you first
got here. Yeah, I meanI had I know the Northeast is great
for golf, but I'm from outwest Los Angeles. I live in Charlotte

(27:29):
now, but it was I don'tknow, my second experience to the northeast
and was blown away. Then Iremember getting in, like I got in
at like eleven pm Friday. Iwent to bed show up Saturday morning and
all I was doing was taking pictures. Got to the range, had like
fifteen minutes hit balls. I wasjust it was awesome. I mean from
locker room to staff to the golfcourse. Yeah, it's incredible food.

(27:49):
We're gonna do a full episode aboutlocker rooms. We posted about it and
people were it was the most responsewe've ever gotten on anything. People like,
oh, you gotta see this place. You gotta see this place.
Yeah, I mean, locker roomsare funny in the golf Like everybody has
their favorite lock Oh yeah, what'syour favorite? My favorite would be Forest
Creek in Pinehurst, North Carolina. That's a good one, you got.

(28:10):
I mean, Surewood Country Club outin la is fantastic. I think I
think the locker room itself is probablyruns higher than the golf course. But
I mean the history here, Likeyou walk in the locker room and you
know it's old. I love thateverything about it, Like you walk in
and everything just feels like, Wow, I just went back in time,
like this is good golf history anda lot of a lot of good times

(28:33):
have happening there. So is thereanything out west that sort of compares to
this type of golf force? Notreally, I mean in terms of like
I mean like Riviera, like Label Air, like I've never I've been
to Rivera a hundred times watching layOpen, I've never played, but both
George Thomas designs, who's from Philadelphia. Oh is that right? Yeah?

(28:55):
There you go. I mean you'reyou're They're just so elite out there and
nobody's really quite as welcoming. Ifyou don't know someone that can plug you
in or you have deep deep pocketwith other people that plug in, you're
not gonna play at Right after college, I moved to Charlotte, So as
a professional, I think if Iwent back, i'd i'd be able to
get on Charlotte's great There. Thereis lake Side, Yeah, we've had,

(29:21):
we've had. I don't think he'sin Europe. Eric has been here
the past two years. Old.Yeah, yeah, Lakeside Golf Club in
Las is awesome. They call itlike the Club Stars, but that'd be
very similar like Bob Hope was therebeing Crosby and it's you can feel the
history in there. I think RayRomano might be Ray Romano. Any celebrity

(29:41):
unit there. Yeah, Yeah,Eric Flores and I knew each other from
California and he came to you see. Yeah, he came to Charlotte to
play an e golf event, anold tour that was there. Stayed with
me and was like, I'm moving, and he moved like six months later.
Yeah, well I haven't been homeand like to really I resulted these
guys got up so early this morningto drive from Philly up here. But

(30:04):
you might have had a little bitof a more intense travel schedule. Take
us through like your last three days. My last three days were leaving Stockholm,
Sweden at whatever time, delayed onthe runway, had to delay a
flight in Heathrow, and then landedin New York, stayed there for two
days instead of going back to Charlotte. And now I'm up here. What

(30:26):
were you doing in Sweden? Iwas playing DP first stage qualifying. I
missed by one, which is disappointing, but I mean I got second stage
of corn Ferry coming up, andI'll be ready for that. That's the
end of November, Valdosta, Georgia. Okay, yeah, so so this
is your warm up for Stage two. Yeah, that's right. Yeah,
yeah, I mean it's it's sucha funny time of year. There's not

(30:48):
much golf to be played. Ihave corn Ferry status, so I'm gonna
play some Monday's coming up. Butother than that, in terms of tournaments,
it's just a weird time of yearwhen the PGA Tour starts moving the
dual around for Corn Ferry PGA andthen all of a sudden, like every
year, these these like maybe likestayed opens, mini tour events don't even
know where to put tournaments this timeof year because you don't want to.

(31:10):
Those guys are running based on whoplays, so if you don't have enough
people and then you schedule tournament,it's like everyone's second stage or first stage.
You have no golf to play.So wow. Yeah, so,
Matt, this is a obviously atough course. Talk to us about your
approach this year having played it oncelast year, Yeah, how do you
attack this golf course? I wasone hundred percent to be here to play
a practice round last year was sofunny. I got on the course and

(31:33):
like there you know, visually youknow exactly where to hit it, but
every hole there's like places that you'dprefer to be, even when even if
like the pins on one side, you know you're almost better off, like
if the pins right being in theleft rough, then you are on the
right side of the fairway with likewhen the greens get firm and fast,
so I'm excited. Yeah they werelast year. I can't. I was

(31:53):
in Valdosta, Georgia last year secondstage qualify came straight up here and you
go from bermuted and like bent runningfourteen give me, give me that transfusion.
So that's tremendus. Well, I'msure you get has to play in
a ton of different charity events.Obviously a good friend of myself and Brandon,

(32:14):
what makes you want to come backand to support those calls and obviously
played this tournament year after year.Yeah, I mean I text Drew like
right after I left here last yearand I was like, I'm I'm one
hundred percent next year. I mean, I mean even even like a good
buddy of ours, Pat Nuke,I like he's like texting me last night,
He's I'm so pissed I can't makeit. He's playing in the corn
for event. I mean, it'sjust awesome. I'm like Brandon said,

(32:36):
I mean, and everyone knows thathe's so passionate about where he's from and
his friends. I mean, youyou become good friends with Brandon. You're
like a friend for life, andlike we might go months without talking and
every time I see him, wejust have a great time catching up.
I mean, Danielle, I becomeI mean, I can you play in
Latin America? Yeah? So yeah, it's just like the passion guys have

(32:57):
and the encouragement for other golfers whenyou see them. And I mean that
everyone that's here at Scranton hosts everyoneelse. So well, the pros are
just like treated like gold. Soyeah, I love it. Well,
we appreciate you coming back and supportingagain. Yeah, test of luck than
I got. I got one storyhere for it. Brandon mentioned, Dominican
Republic. Now you almost got tothirty under just beat the doors off everybody,

(33:20):
right, So, my my bagslugge didn't come in. I landed
on like Monday morning, and Iended up wearing Brandon gave me a pair
of underwear that I wore Monday thatI wore Tuesday, and then I wore
a Wednesday bags. Show up Wednesdayat midnight, go out Thursday. I
shoot like Bowden free seventy. Nextday shoot sixty two and I'm like maybe
two shots behind Brandon or three shots. So I just assumed like, oh

(33:44):
sweet, like must be Brandon's underwearwarm warm Saturday didn't work. I got
shot seventy four or five, sowe get. The secret is you have
to wash them out of the fifth. Yeah, yeah, you get,
you get, you get Brandon's underwear. It doesn't mean you're gonna shoot thirty
under I wasn't incredible. I juststarted getting DMS asking for Brandon's fannies.

(34:06):
Yeah, thanks again for having me. Yeah, good luck out there,
man, play Well that's the luckhere the rest of the way. Thanks
for hopping off. Thanks awesome, appreciate it. Very cool. You know
you can you can tell you knowpeople that, like he said he was
here last year and I'm coming backthis year. Right, It's like that's
that kind of place for sure.He even said he was messaging me,
He's like, hey, do youneed more people? Like, I'll get
some more guys. So not evensupporting himself, but also helping pull additional

(34:30):
talent in and try to put himto the ring. Yeah, it's cool.
How close I mean even us I'veknown her forever, but just meeting
each other and how the game ofgolf just together and forms friendships. Pretty
sweet, no doubt about it.Now. We talked about briefly Sahi the
Galla, winning the footing that Championship, his first BJA Tour win with a
great amount of supporters, gets intothe century and the Masters. Harry Mays

(34:53):
is all over it, you know, I mean, he was all over
It's a new year. And Danielle, I mean I was awful last year
with you with the one and done, so it couldn't have been worse.
But it's a new year. Weturned to you know, turned the calendar,
Eric Cole top ten, bang plusthree twenty to hit the Gala plus

(35:13):
sixteen hundred for the win, Bangto kill to Gala, minus one twenty
five over Yeager in the matchup,Bang we hit three for three. Wow,
let's go. When Sanderson farms,I'm ready to go. I'm going
to Jackson. If we saw theline out on the country club is granting
like you saw the line last weekwe scored a little bit, it would
have been ridiculous. I still don'tknow where the line. I don't know

(35:34):
where the line is. Answer theline can russe. Yeah. Well,
the funny part is these guys outof here talking about their imagination and how
they're shaping shots. I'm like,I'm dreaming of the day where I could
where my shot goes, where Iintend. I'm nodding my head. Oh
yeah, I'm just trying to hitit, hit it straight. Oh my
god, you know, just useyour imagination. Landed in the little undulation.
So guys, you know, withthe Ryder Cup coming up, obviously

(35:55):
a ton of talk about Justin Thomasand he winds up with a fifth fifth
place finish your pretty solid start forhim. I think something that he needed
to build on right now must havebeen the pool noodles. It must have
been think so I mean, yeah, I mean it's encouraging. I told
you, I know the guy thatinvented them today, I know that's right,
that's funny. Yeah, my wife'sfriend or father invented the pool moodle.

(36:16):
He doesn't have any money, believeYeah, no, they got a
patent on it. Someone slightly changedthe color and yeah, exactly. So
the other big story as we arewaiting for the Ryder Cup to come,
we are in Solheim Cup right inthe middle of it. We are,
if you're listening to us right now, we are on day one. We
know that Team USA jumped out toa four o lead. I liked them.

(36:37):
I didn't get to take them intime. I don't know what happened,
but they were plus money plus onetwenty five. Team Europe is minus
one twenty which is the exact oppositeof the Ryder Cup, which is interesting.
But you know, they have alot of experience on that team.
But I think some of the USplayers are just firing right now, so
curious to see how this finish isout. Yeah, that that came on
TV I think at like two amtoday and we DVR did of course,

(37:02):
No, I didn't wake up.How do you say the name of that
course here? I don't even knowthinks in Spain, think Cortessen or if
they say it's the top one ofthe top courses in all of Europe,
as every southern coast of Spain. They say, it's like, you know,
in the top three of all ofEurope. Yeah, I'm sure it's
it's awesome. I didn't get tosee any of it, but I knew

(37:22):
that the US team cut out toa four oh lead. And uh,
you know, hey, I didn'tbet this. I bet Europe in the
Ryder Cup. I was on I'mown record for that. I took Europe
and the Rider took the plus money. Yeah, I took the plus money.
But man, you know I'm actualpatriot. He is Daniel. We're

(37:42):
over here like bleeding, red, white and blue. Harry's like, yeah,
I want my money. I listenedto Sean brace On on Fox Sports
The Gambler. He's all about themoney. Okay, we go after the
money. It's right, we gotthe money. We got two Patriots,
you know. Personal so Harry,I have. I've had an incredible run
the basketball week's playing this course.I played a great round at Tavistock with

(38:06):
the Salgalate from my club, whichis tremendous, and then I played our
friend John Clark, the Great.John Clark invited me out to the Kidney
Foundation outing at Union League Liberty Hill. I had yet to play that course.
I was dying to play it.Awesome, tremendous golf course, completely
different than anything else in our area. It would be a bear to play
that, like on the if thatwas your course on the daily basis.

(38:29):
No, but talk about a clubhousewith a bar in there. I mean,
what the Union League is doing withgolf in our area is unbelieva.
They have three different courses. Theythey have the years. They have Union
League National, which is in StoneHarbor, Torsdale, Lafia Hill which is
Liberty Hill. Yeah, I meanI am supposed to play National, Harry

(38:53):
has I've played two or three.I'm supposed to play National next week.
We have a really sweet item. It's called the Philly Golf Experience and it
is the three Union League courses, really Rolling Green and Philly Cricket. What
really, Yes, sir, letme see where that you guys might have
to stay for dinner. I didbring my credit card. I hope they

(39:15):
take it. And it's for thechildren. I have a major bucket list
check. Next week I'm playing MaidstoneGina Logo, Bengo, this moose.
I tell you what you are,America's guests. You're like a jet center.
I gotta believable. This guy cansell water to a well. Gotta
get out there and see these courses. It's the only way to do it.

(39:37):
So, uh, you know,Maddie mentioned DP World Tour, there
is some golf to play this weekend. I haven't really dug in too deep
with everything else going on. TheKazoo Open the France. Is that what
we're talking But some of them, you know, you have Minwoodly playing,
Billy Horshel. Robert McIntyre is gettinga little tune up. I think he's
the only guy. I think he'sthe only one from the Tom Kim Ryan
Fox. So at least we'll havesome good golf to watch in between,

(39:57):
you know, because the hours arecrazy with the Sohim Cup, it will
be for this one as well. But yeah, I'm really curious to see
how the Solheim Cup finished. BillyHorshell going around the world chasing the dollar.
How about that? Right? Itell you what he really is.
He grew that beard and now he'sjust like I'm going to the Europe I'm
going to Europe. So you saidyou took your team Europe in the Ryder
Cup. Anything has changed in yourmind over the past cople weeks When you

(40:21):
start to think about getting a littlecloser seeing the guy's practice play the course.
You know it's crazy if you followis it Luke Luke Envy, I
forget his best name, Luke Helvy. Yeah yeah, yeah, he sounds
like it sounds like tracking. Itwas a broadcast, Yeah, he does
some broadca He broke down follow hisTwitter. He broke down about what home
field advantage means with course set up. They literally went through and found out

(40:45):
the top five players when Tiger andPhil were playing their percentage. Well,
first of all, how far theymissed the green and then they set the
boundaries wider, so this so thecrowd didn't trample down in the areas where
they tend to miss. Then theyset like landing areas because they knew that
they were like off by like astroke from a certain distance, so they

(41:06):
literally change the ties to get themto that distance. So this what goes
into it with the course set upis blew my mind when when they really
broke it down. You know whatthat reminds me of is literally Michael Jordan
and how the grove was completely setup so he had people come out following
his rounds for a year as heplayed Bears Club. Where does he land
his drives? Like? Where's hismiss? Same thing as kind of what

(41:28):
you're saying, make sure where thecrowds don't trample down, and you go
to the grove. There's nobody thatcan beat MJ. There. Then the
fairways go about fifty feet wider andwhen he would you know where his drive
would land. And then they comein, Oh, it's wild. They
have all the data and analytics. The guy Darren who works there always showing
me everything. When I went totour, it's the exact same approach.
I mean it's smart. Wow,that is incredible, I tell you,

(41:51):
you know, playing with Mooves today, of course he hits it like fifty
yards by me every side. Likeso if you were going to change a
golf course for where he hits itversus me, I mean you know,
it's fair different. Yeah, Andexactly what he was saying with the Ryder
Cup, they're going to switch itup to be uh, you know,
to benefit their players. But backto what Moves asked as your you knows

(42:12):
not even seeing JT in the middleand J Now, I saw twelve players
from Team Europe play really well,uh in that event the other week to
BMW and I think they're ready togo. It's to me it seems like
a completely different feeling than whistling straits. I feel like there wasn't much controversy,
that the guys at the top ofyou were just rolling, and this

(42:35):
year it's a little bit weird.It's a little bit, a little bit
controversy. A couple of guys youknow that that should have been in that
aren't in. Whatever the case maybe. You're going on the road and
Rory isn't even playing his best golfright now, and he's going a bachelor
party in Greece or something, right, but we imagine him at a bachelor
party. Gon do take a cab? All right? Someone who excels at

(42:59):
bachelor yeah, joining us now thegreat shows. I mean, there's no
one you want with you on abachelor party. Well, I know he
was there for a couple of months, just a couple of you know,
I just want I just want tostart this hit off by saying I appreciate
Phil Michelson coming out this week andsaying that he wasn't gonna wager on NFL
anymore this, you know, thisfootball season thinks we appreciate that maybe we

(43:22):
can get him out to scrant oneof these years. I'm in the middle
of a Billy Walter's book Hair.It is incredible. It might be the
most the best gambling book ever written. Really. If he goes through his
whole system in chapters about how hegambled and the money that Phil played is
just I mean, he has themoney to gamble, so like it wasn't
like he was. But it's justif anyone gets a chance read read that

(43:44):
book of Billy Walters. I forgetthe name of the book. Okay,
yeah, we'll look at up.Would you bring up Phil Mickelson. Wouldn't
you love to see him play thesegreen complexes with the chipping, you know,
the tight line chipping, with thatsixty four degree wedge that he's gone.
I forget what hole it was on, but I go like, what
would Rory do? Honestly, Likewhat would Rory do with this? Yeah?

(44:07):
And it was just an amazing likejust the way that the green was.
I've never heard the elephant buried before. Yeah, I've never heard that
before, So that was the firstfor me. But you know, and
then what they would do is hewould drive it into the fringe and then
check get it to check up,and then roll like it's just crazy how
crassy, crafty these professionals can be, because you have to be. That

(44:29):
course is unbelievable. Brandon, Brandonis a mean man. He's a mean
man. That course was hard tobut and you haven't even absolutely gorgeous though,
and this place is awesome. Andthis is our second time here,
Danielle, and thank you enough forthe invite again, and you know,
just a beautiful day to be outhere on the course number one. But

(44:50):
you guys are raising money for agreat foundation, and I know Brandon gives
back to the to the local community, and it's just awesome. As a
guy from scrant you know, it'svery cool. Very I said thank you
to Jehan Brace because our first yearhe held it down as our MC.
He helped us raise a tone ofmoney for our live auction the first year,
just coming out here supporting us andsaying, yeah, I'll do it.

(45:12):
I can't remember who hooked us up, but he was just saying he's
like we were throwing towels on him. He was like he was in a
boxing match. I don't know,I don't know if he I'm sorry.
He might not have had a voicefor like two months after because he was.
I just remember the members looking atme like who are you and where
did you come from? Let's go. I was like right next to actually

(45:32):
a picture you have to send youoff on the podium, and I'm just
like, we were a good teamthat night because you were running the like
the JumboTron for the pictures and wehad some funny one hitter the talking points
guys. Cal cuta experience and hopefullynot my last. It was a lot
of fun. Speaking of you, guys got a pretty big celebrity holding it
down tonight. Oh yeah, wegot Michael Collins in the building. That's

(45:53):
very cool, Kady. Yeah,I don't know. I think it show.
It should be like an eight.I would imagine right now. It's
funny because I yelled at the teahe yelled, I don't even acknowledge.
Yeah, well it was really likeI said, it was funny because we're
sitting there and I'm like, Ibet you that's my Collins, all of
them, respect I'm not, youknow, in the best shape of my

(46:14):
life, but you could pick themout. Yeah, that's it right there.
He's got a physic. Yea Eaglesfan. I'm ready to do an
Eagles chair let's go. But wait, what is all this? If we're
talking? I don't have a twith D. But I can give a
little a little social media clipp Haveyou guys seen all the Eagles fans the
one chick that was couldn't even spellyou and they're making it's the most billy

(46:38):
thing ever. And I don't thinkI've been tagged on Instagram and more things
in my life. All of myfriends are D I mean me and tagging
me in it the one the misspelling. I'm like, guys, I know
how to spell. So the nameof the book is Gambler Secrets from a
Life at Risk Billy. Yeah. So, Sean, talk about your playing
partners today. You went out withthe Great Slash obviously a big part of

(47:00):
the podcast, and also Mike Poweris another huge part of the podcast.
Talk about their game, what yousaw from those guys. Well, I
think Slash definitely played the best outof the threesome. He shout at ninety
four. He had a couple partsthis course start the back nine, and
it was just you know, lookhe had some bad breaks or else he
might even he might have like aninety ninety one, but played very well.

(47:22):
Powers improved. I gotta give itup the powers. He's blushing.
The improvement is there. I heardhe was in the sand a lot.
Yeah, that's true. He gotout. The wheels fell off at the
end, but I think they fellout for all of us. But yeah,
it was fun to be out there. It's easy to be in the

(47:42):
sand a lot at this golf course. I mean yeah, so honestly though
as not trying to like, yeah, I know what I'm talking about.
I didn't think the course itself isall that difficult, but the greens are
unbelievable. Yeah, you know, like the complexes and the undulations and the
and the punk arang. Yeah, yeah, I mean like everywhere you're at
you have a great shot everything, you know, except for the like you

(48:05):
said, the undulation, the uphill, but like the fairways and risk,
yes, wide open, wide open. So if you're in the fairway,
you're gonna be good. It's justyou gotta be able to make the ball
dance and if you can't, goodluck, good luck. Yeah. Ten
was ridiculous. Yeah, I comeup here. I hit a nice drive
six iron and the thing rolled allthe way through two hundred yards six iron,

(48:31):
what you know? So that doesn'thappen. Me and Moose went into
the bar and got a couple ofdrinks. We went took a shower.
We come back out and you guysare still in the middle of the fairway,
like, what's going on over here? She's like, I'm hitting nine.
Yeah, yes, I was wonderingwhat I was going to hit exactly.
That's good. What a day,What a day. Good luck tonight,

(48:51):
Daniel, good luck this weekend, and great job with what you guys
are doing. Can't think Brandon enough. Absolutely, hope, we hope be
a part of this for a fora long time. I love coming up
here. It's like circle it onthe counter. I was so I don't
know what happened last you. Iforget, but I was so upset I
couldn't be up here for this becauseit is one of my favorite days of
the year, just playing this courseearly in the morning, and you know

(49:12):
the views on this course. Theweather was perfect this morning when we got
out. This is fall golf mostit's the best. Absolutely, we gotta
get you as an AM next year. We'll get a sponsor. We'll have
you in there and not keep workingon my game. I don't want to
embarrass myself. But if we ifwe keep improving a little bit, seeing
my boy John the Marco at theLegacy Club will be okay. And if
you get a pro to play with, maybe you and Maddie Ryant, that
might be the I like it.It might be the mix I like it.

(49:35):
I like a lot. Well,we'll be back next week because we
have to preview the Ryder Cup,so alright, you know, we need
to break it down and see what'sgoing to happen out there. But great
day so far, Danielle. Congratulationson another successful year. Wish you guys
all the best. Hopefully the weathercooperates to some degree this weekend. It
doesn't look great, but you neverknow. Up here we're a little bit
farther away. The mountains might breakthings up. But great day, Harry

(50:00):
May's great playing with you to fantastictoday. I enjoyed it. Great time.
