Mays, Daniel Matthews, Welcome backto the program. Oh it's good to
be back, Mischief. People wereasking, They're like, are you not
a member? I was like,no much a member. We're not.
(01:08):
We're not letting off the hook thateasy, No way Harry, good to
see you. Great to be here. Moose. We got uh, we've
got esteemed guest tonight to tell usall about the champions that they are over
at the Lulu Country Club. Areturn guest. We love, we love
return guests. That's right. Wewelcome back John Russ, general manager over
(01:30):
at Lulu, and John, let'slet's start with that. What we know
about Lulu is you don't really needan excuse for a reason to party there.
But when there is, what isthat like? We evolve our golf
around our partying. You know, some people put their golf and their party.
Now our parties. It starts tonow we figure out what we're gonna
golf around that. Uh, it'sit's a great place. It's way back
(01:55):
atmosphere. You know. Hopefully weget Danielle's child to be a member one
day, you know, bring momhear him. I don't know. So
it's it is a spot to beWe've been very fortunate in the last I
don't know, five six, sevenyears between the fire and COVID. You
know, we love we love agood good disaster here. It's been the
best thing for golf. It's beenthe best thing for the club with those
(02:17):
things, and we've been rocking androlling ever since. Where we love it.
I do have to admit just seeingthe celebrations from from your club from
Lulu. I was talking to meabout it the other day because I said,
oh, we got rust coming onthe podcast. I said, and
he's like, yeah, they justwon the gap. I go, I
know, they just went. Isaid, you think I didn't see other
celebrations. That's the best part iswatching Lulu celebrates after a win. And
(02:39):
he mentioned something about a cow bellwe have. We've got cow bells,
we've got lobster calls, we've gotchampionship belts. We had an m VP
chain this year. We've got letwe have belts. Whatever you can think
of we've got. We had agood time. I don't remember much after
seven o'clock at night. Now Igot put in Uber and get sent them,
(03:00):
so that's kind of after seven o'clock. I don't know what happened after
that. That's what That's what I'mgoing with. Now, you won what
four of the six divisions and theoverall for the second time in club history,
right correct? So yeah, forus, it's it's yeah, it's
cool to win. Me overall. But you know, more partly the gap
for the club is more about wehave six men's teams and we also have
(03:21):
a women's team. We treat allof the same. We want every everybody
to compete and win. But moreimportantly it's about you know, when I
was growing up, it was aboutplaying the golf. But then you go
in afterwards, you have a nicelunch, have seven to ten years and
you call it a Sunday afternoon. That's kind of what we got back.
Yeah, that's that's kind of ourphilosophy and kind of what we're bringing back.
(03:43):
We get a little bit frowned uponwith our party, seeing atmosphere a
little bit, but that's what wedo and we're comfortable with it. That's
what I grew up with. Andlike I said, it's awesome to win
the championship overall, the Double Athat's that's where you want to be.
But we won four out of sixdivisions. Our ladies went from the tenth
Cup or the twelfth Cup to theday Super Jumped to the eighth Cup.
That's just as important to us,the women's go off and the other divisions
(04:05):
as that is winning the Double Achampionship. So we were excited. You
know, the guys are hurting fora few days, and the girls actually
are rowdier than the boys, tobe honest with you. There's some security
footage of what they were doing whichwe can't talk about, but they got
a little rowdy with it as women. John, we're working with ah Ivy
(04:25):
Ivy hydration therapy place called Hydro LUCKXand Hatt and Field. They do do
they do mobile They will come outfor the day number one client. Yes,
I can tell you we definitely,we definitely need them for our member
guests in September, So I shootme that email. I will, I
will. We're gonna try to getright there parking lot the day two of
a member guest or a member member. I mean, it takes everything you
(04:47):
got to get back. It's ahome run. Those things are the best.
I mean they're not they're not.You know, you play like a
hundred box or something. But it'swell worth because you get right back on
the saddle. It gets you backto neutral, gets you right back to
neutral. They'll actually be out atour our golf outing out of the Legacy
Club on the fifteenth. But John, talk about that, how about you
had actually two teams in the topfour in Double A. How cool is
(05:08):
that? It is? Like we'vegot a club where you know, we
started in two thousand and fifteen,we had one hundred and fifty members.
You know, it's I don't wantto say it's a cheap membership, but
look, it's very affordable culture athousand, five thousand dollars for the club
that you're getting. So people atother clubs once they you can either age
out of a junior membership at anotherclub or they hit forty at another club,
(05:30):
they don't have ten to fifteen twentythousand dollars as fat So where are
they gonna go? They're gonna cometo us. You know, we've got
five hundred fifty members at a veryfull price, and that's kind of our
business point. So you know, people have bost Our chops a little bit.
We got all the best players.Well why because it's a thousand to
five thousand dollars club. People. You know, I didn't have ten thousand
dollars when I was twenty five.I don't have ten thousand dollars now I'm
(05:53):
forty five. You know, Igot a wife and three kids and a
mortgage. Everybody knows where that moneygoes, and there's empty shelves behind you.
I mean, yeah, I'm goingto get ripped on about these shows.
It's like this is how I mean, you got to save the money
for the wife and kids. Guys, we'll put the address and then go
fund me out to get some boxesthe cereal. But yeah, you should
(06:14):
see what my TV's on. It'sso embarrassing. But like we're the we're
the you know, the average ofthe club's forty two. The average age
of the PubL in Philadelphia is fiftyeight years old, so we're very young.
We're very aggressive. We've been calledthe loudest hollers in the room.
We just we like to have agood time. We like to golf,
we like to compete. But wewanted to be an affordable price too.
(06:36):
I don't want to be a clubthat some guys scraping and calling at ten
fifteen thousand dollars and this. Look, if you want that atmosphere, that's
fine, Like there's a lot ofgreat clubs that do that. There just
is that's not who we are. That's not the program we built, that's
not the you know, that's notour clientele. So that's kind of what
we do. You know, wemake it very affordable for the average guy,
(06:57):
and we hoot and holler and wehave a good time. Well still,
oh go ahead, go ahead.Well, aside from the hooting and
hollering and the partying, what haveyou done over there to develop this culture
of winning on the golf course?Like I said, it comes down to,
you know, these guys what's calledaging out at other clubs. They
don't they don't have the ten tofifteen thousand dollars, so they want to
(07:17):
still compete. And yeah, it'sit's yeah, our gap team is very
good. But at the end ofthe day, you go over there on
a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday night, these guys get done working. Like
tonight there's David Kim Wills, Montgomery, PJ. Those guys are all rolling
in there at five, six o'clockat night and they're gonna go play nine
holes. You know, to usthe players that we have, we've got
(07:39):
a lot of good players, butit's more about the game. Like the
Thursday night game of the Saturday morninggame, if the guys show up,
you know, the Sunday game. It's more about the game than it is
about the the winning a championship orsomething like that. Like, like I
said, that's all cool, butit's they come out every night, these
kids. I'm on a group text. These guys are texting right now.
(07:59):
Where are you at. I'm gonnatake a picture, set it to you
guys. So that's who's making funof you on the shelves when I sent
them a picture. So yeah,to us, it's about the game men
and women. Like I said, the women of ever really been starting to
build a women's program. You know, women women is a is a big
part of of the golf right now. You know, it's growing at like
five six percent more even more thanthe men. So we really focused on
(08:24):
the women. You guys are actuallyleting them drive the golf carts now too.
That's pretty cool. Yeah, well, don't get me started. Don't
get me starting. How women gettreated a golf course. And I think
it's pretty pretty bad. You know, women at our golf course we play,
you guys want to play seven o'clockin the morning. They come at
seven o'clock and tea off on aSaturday morning. A lot of courses don't
let that, you know, theyhave just just keep the pace to play
up ladies. Well they hit it. They pitdle, peddle down the middle,
(08:48):
you know. So same with thesenors. You know, we've got
the green teas. We let themgo. But yeah, we love having
our women out at the Loup. You know, they play. They don't
play at seven in the morning, but they're out there eight nine o'clock on
the weekend morning. Do they havegames there, like the games and gamble
and yeah they have. They havelike twelve women. They have like a
birdie tree. It's called I'm notsure what they do. To be honest
with me, I don't want tosay that, but like I'm a big
(09:09):
support of women's golf, the women'sGap. You know, I wish they
would play on the weekends more insteadof like they play on Tuesdays. I
have a problem with that, LikeI've I've made my voice known to the
Women's Gap. I think it's ridiculousthat they can't play on the weekends like
the men can watch. Well. So, I mean it's that's kind of
(09:31):
how they're treating talking here. Yeahyou're talking. Yeah, she's pregnant,
man, I've got the cop It'sit's it's a tough thing for me when
it has to like. I gota little daughter. I don't want to
tell her she can't play on aSaturday morning, and and that bothers me.
I've been down that road with them. They don't like my vocal opinion
on it. But I don't care. When women work nowadays, it's not
(09:52):
the nineteen fifty six, seventies eightieslike they're working. They they want to
play on Saturdays. They don't playthat. You know, it is what
it is. I don't care.I don't play well. They opportunity for
them to play at the Loop ifthey want to come out and play on
the weekends. We'll talk about it. Talk about Sully, I mean,
how about so still has it?Man sweeps his matches. I mean,
talk about it, Harry, Imean, that's your inside gollage after charade
(10:15):
man, that guy. I didn'tlike that guy growing up. Okay,
hated hate it. I can't.I don't know if I want to cuss
on that, but I hated thatdude. And then one day he rolls
up, he starts putting on thepunting green. Back when I was working,
I was like, yeah, youdon't even remember. You gotta beat
it. We became excellent friends.Uh, you know, I talked to
him pretty much every day now.We always benched him for the playoff.
(10:37):
His game was his game is inshambles, and do'll tell you he extends
right now, he drop kicks it, he shanks it, but we sent
him to his dude. The game'sa trade wreck. I played with him
in a team match. It's like, no, I wasn't playing any good,
but I'm not beting myself. Tobe honest, Coach is playing exactly.
(10:58):
I'm playing exactly. Coach is playinghis kid. So look, I
said, the bench him. Igot out voted Brownie and Glenning and PJ
they out voted me. They said, now we're setting the hunting valid.
He goes out. It's nine pointsand basically wins at him and Scott and
Kevin lyon to college kid. Theyall dominated, and then you get guys
like me and PJ who just hungon. And you know we take all
the credit for that. Absolutely.Talk about the golf course, you know,
(11:22):
it's a fantastic Donald Ross Classic, and it's being always in great shape.
And you've done some work on theirrigation system over the off season,
right, I think you're about finishedwith that, and then you're gonna start
a T box renovation at some pointthis year. Yeah. So the last
two years we've done about two pointseven in renovations. We've went a long
way from hanging out in the trailersand this, that and the other.
(11:43):
So the irrigation systems wrapped up,bunkers are wrapped up. Both turned out
awesome. Power Ray architect really helplesswith the bunkers. He came out,
excuse me, came out this falllast fall, and we started redoing some
fairway lines now that we have irrigation. So the first seven holes he brought
back the fairways that were kind oforiginal and would lead him into the buckers
(12:05):
the correct way. I tried doingthat one year. Absolute disaster. So
if you're looking at hiring somebody, hire an architect. Don't think you're smarter
than architects. You know. Thereason we hired him is because we build
a new tea box, like,oh, this looks great. First thing
he says, that's the dumbest thingI've ever seen. I said, you're
hired, Tyler. That's what youare. You're hired. Tyler is the
(12:28):
best. He is down earth guy, works hard. He's really taken off
the last five six years. Sohe'saw this redo our faaraway lines. He's
gonna help us reduce some tea boxeson this fall, or give us the
ideas and then mount and Golf willcome in, or Brian lay Golf will
come in and building force. Wetried building them ourselves again. That was
a nightmare. You know, I'velearned a lot in the last ten years
of hire people that are smarter thanyou and then know what they're doing.
(12:52):
Because people think that they can runa golf course, you can't. You
make dumb decisions. You you justthink you know what you're doing, but
you don't hire people that know whatthey're doing. Listen to good advice from
people. Everybody thinks that you're runningoff course. I played golf my entire
life. You amount a dumb thing. We built a puniering. It's a
piece of crap, my idea.We gotta gotta pay for that to get
(13:15):
that fixed. So hire people thatknow what they're doing, is what I
like to tell people when they're whenthey're booking at golf courses. You know,
makes sense, makes sense in moreareas than just golf. I've wasted
a few hundred thousand dollars on stupidcrap, you know, just thinking I
knew what I was doing and nowwe got to pay to fix it.
(13:35):
Yeah yeah, well, I meanlisten, being out there, you know,
in the past and different things we'vedone that the clubhouse is tremendous.
I mean, I think that's justadded so much and probably has made it
more of a twelve month, youknow kind of situation hanging out. The
simulator is multiple two right, havingthat kind of and the way it sets
up just as part of the barand lounge, you're so cool. You
(13:56):
don't feel like you're secluded somewhere, you know, very cool there. Yeah,
a lot of courses are calling us. I got a call later tonight
with an other golf courses are redoingit, always looking to get people.
But what we learned and give itto on today because a lot of courses
now they want to build that indooroutdoor thing. I know. Well,
of course right up the road fromit's just built something they kind of copied
us, which I think is awesome. So I'm glad we were kind of
(14:18):
the first kind of club too.But again we burned down so it was
easy for us it's not as easyas you know, a hunt Can Valley
that's had a clubhouse there for onehundred years and they've got to redo everything
or sorry, well start from scratchingand do it. So you know,
we walked out and and I'm alwayswelcome to help people that want help with
with ideas and stuff. Again, they weren't my ideas, thank god,
but I give them, you know, the blueprint if they need help with
(14:39):
stuff like that, very cool stuff. Well, I know you're very busy
between running uh Lulu and playing golfwhen you can and family stuff, but
do you still do you ever getto watch any PGA Tour golf because I'd
love to get your thoughts on thestate of the of get the game right
now, you know, I I'vetried to watch it, like I want
(15:01):
to see guys that I've that Iyou know, I got, I got
to the nation A lot was calledat the time corn Fair, I guess
it's called now. So I liketo watch those guys, but you know,
a lot of them want to livelike Bubba Watson want to live a
lot of them stinking at retire now. So it's hard for me. I
do watch the Majors, the wholething with with live and the PGA Tour.
(15:22):
I don't know, Like, Ijust want to watch golf. I
want to see Brooks Kopka there, like I like, I love Brooks cap
I hated d Chambeau until I don'tknow what happened this week. That guy
was awesome. You like him nowright? It was weird, like everybody
was rooting for the guy, andI'm like, so like, I don't
(15:43):
want. You know, I'm notgoing to watch the John Dear Classic,
but I certainly will turn in theMajors and this, that and the other.
Yeah, but golf is just weirdright now. I don't get it.
It's great for clubs, but thewhole live thing, but it's gonna
get solid. I was pretty antilabel when it started. I was like,
forget those guys, but somebody wantsto throw ten million dollars at me,
(16:07):
Like I said, I would havedone it, no questions asked.
You know, if I was twentyfive to twenty six, forty five,
I'll take five hundred dollars right now. But yeah, it's I don't know.
I think it's I think it's gettingbetter. Hopefully they saw it by
the end of this year. I'dlike to see some of those guys come
back. I don't need to seeGraham mcdal's I don't need to see you
know, we Westwood or some ofthese guys that are fifty pushing fifty Ian
(16:30):
Poulter. But I look, Iwas. I like Phil Megerson. I
liked watching him. He kind ofturned me off with stuff that he said.
But I do. I do misswatching and everybody competing together. It's
like as an average golf fan,I miss I miss seeing like I'm miss
seeing Brooks captain the chandel of tournaments. So hopefully they fix that, no
(16:52):
doubt. Well, hey, thanksfor hopping back on. Congratulations again to
you guys. Appreciate your generosity ofwhat you uh, what you told me
before show there. That's awesome supportingour Golf of Vet and on our charity
partner foundation. We'll raise some moneythere for sure. So much appreciated,
John, Thank you, brother,I appreciate it, appreciate all Let's take
a quick break, we'll be rightback, all right, welcome back to
(17:15):
Swing It and Ding. It alwaysgreat to talk to the great John rusk
over at Lulu lou Is fun Man. I gotta. I gotta get back
out there, just for like aregular round and a regular hang. I
feel like I'm out there, butit's always for something, you know,
Like I want to go out andjust spend the day. Yeah, Like
like I'm always doing the inside golfstuff over there, and it's like looking
good, I see you. Yeah. But next time I want to go
(17:36):
over there, I want to beable to play around and then maybe do
some inside golf. Yeah you gotthat. Funny part is the only time
I've ever been there. I dida commercial and a promo for them,
and he just had me like hittingshots on the bar three and putting.
But I've never actually played, soI don't know if I can party like
you guys. I might need theready recovery from what it sounds like and
(17:59):
from what I see how those guysparty. But definitely got to find our
way back out there, and theywere kind enough to host us last year
half for the Mike Tallarta All Dayto honor Towels with his family. Hopefully
we get to get back out there. Was a beautiful day. I think
it was all that was personalt thatday. Oh my god, what a
day. So always a good dayat the Loo. But how about that
(18:19):
Charles Swab challenge. I gotta behonest, I didn't watch a ton of
this this weekend. I just Iwas not I had an opportunity to.
And this is what's kind of freakingme out lately, Guys. I'm not
gonna lie. I need something tolike spark to get me, like,
listen, I'm into it. I'minto the majors. I watch a lot
of golf, but a tournament likethis, even though Scheffler was playing,
(18:41):
I'm just not Wow. But mostdo you think an element of it is
that in the Northeast the weather startingto improve a little bit, I know,
talking about it. Wee heay tomorrow, the next day, the next
day. So it's like the opportunityto play golf. It's not like you're
like, oh, it's seventy fivedegrees finally I'm gonna sit inside and watch.
Yeah, you know, so thatdefinitely could be a lot of it.
(19:03):
But you know, I think it'sjust the state of the professional game,
the guys on live, you know. But you know from from what
I did. But then again, you know, you have Scheffler you feel
like has a chance to make it, and you just want to watch that
guy. That's why, that's whyI want to watch, right, But
Davis Riley says, no, now, Scottie, not today, not this
weekend. Here's a guy he hasseven miscuts in his last fourteen, only
(19:26):
one top top twenty or top twentyfive. And it's like, but you
feel like his name's mentioned a lot, right, It's like people kind of
knew that he was hanging around. And what I do love about this tournament,
though, is the is what youget when you win, right,
the whole, the tar jacket, the car, the car is so sweet.
Yeah, Corvette, Corvette. It'sthe car is always that same color.
(19:52):
You know that light blue is justa cool blue. Yeah. Yeah.
And then obviously the news with GraysonMurray just just happened, you know,
comes out and then it's just aslike, man, like you just
feel like this awful, gut wrenchingfeeling about this. Whatever you think about
the guy, right, he wasa polarizing figure at times, and but
(20:15):
a thirty year old professional golfer whohas been through so much and has been
so vocal about it, you know, the story comes out and you're just
like, oh my god, Icannot believe this, you know, cannot
believe this is happening, And youknow that had to be tough, that'd
be it had to be a toughdecision to continue to have the tournament.
It had to be tough. Youknow, imagine the guys. You know,
(20:36):
you saw the emotions with Peter Monattiand know there's like guys that were
literally there with him the day beforeplaying golf. You know, to go
forward with that just had to bereally, really difficult. So I know
there's more information that's kind of beencoming out about about it, but just
just a crazy, crazy, sadscene and situation this weekend. Yeah,
it had to be tough, ButI never underestimated a prof sational athletes ability
(21:00):
to compartmentalize when it comes down to, you know, their business. And
you know, obviously it must nothave been easy for a lot of those
guys. Some of the guys youknow, knew him really well or friends
with him. You know, noteverybody was, but you know, either
way, you know, Malnati wasa wreck and he had played the two
days with him, and you knowI had heard over the weekend that Malnati.
(21:26):
I don't know if this is trueor not, but but I heard
that Malnaughty was so concerned about Graysonthat after the round went to somebody with
the tour and said, you gotto go check on that guy. Yeahs
yeah, And that's really that reallyhits home, you know, that's that's
alarming, And that's why I thoughtit was really odd that that Monahan was
(21:48):
there. The commissioner comes out forthis thing and makes a statement and comes
on CBS. That looked like straightc ya to me. And I don't
know what's gonna if anything develops, you know whatever, but that's the way
I looked at at Jay Monahan beingthere. Yeah. I mean, Grayson
was open about his struggles with hisalcoholism and his anxiety, and you know,
(22:11):
had become an advocate for mental healthawareness on the PGA tour, and
you know a lot of Jay's pressconferences and remarks were what they were building
to try to help. And Ieven asked Brandon, like, hey,
what is that support system like, because I know, working in the NBA
previous, you know how that wasfor young guys who maybe came from nothing
and all of a sudden, millionsof dollars and it's like these guys turn
(22:33):
to drugs, alcohol, partying, they have so much money they don't know
what to do with and Grayson havingsuch you know, early success at a
young age kind of was echoing thosesame sentiments at a lot of the you
know players in the NBA that Iheard did early on in my career.
It's like, all of a sudden, you have all this money and you
don't know what to do, andthen you start, you know, indulging
in different areas of partying. Andthen as you mentioned, Harry, like
(22:56):
obviously the stresses of it, andwe'll get into it later with talking about
Lexi Thompson, who was just talkingabout the stress of it. You know,
I hear players all the time talkingabout how lonely it is and when
you don't have your family traveling withyou, it's just it's really tough.
I heard those same rumors with PeterMalnatty going to the tour officials everything else.
(23:18):
It's just it's really tough. Iknow. Harry actually broke the news
via text to Moose and I andI literally was getting ready to leave the
house and I just completely shut down, as well as I believe the rest
of the golf world just being struckwith tragedy. Like that, knowing grace
and it really really tough, butI think it's a good time to take
a moment to address mental health forus. And if there is anyone who's
(23:41):
listening or struggling, there is theNational Suicide Crisis Lifeline in the United States.
You can just down nine eight eightor check in online nine eight eight
lifeline dot org or dm US.You know, you might not know us
very well, or you might bea listener of the pod, but if
you guys are struggling, reach outto us. And hopefully you know,
(24:03):
we heard Harry HIGs say it too, that this is kind of you know,
lets everybody be a little more understandingof their athletes, their people too,
and you know, just being kindto everybody, even outside of the
golf world. And Daniel, Imean he lived right near you guys right
now. I know he's affiliate. He was involved with the golfer cops.
Chary do you guys do some stuffwith right so, I know there were
a lot of connections and eventually itseems like that's actually there was a lot
(24:26):
of uncertainty about what happened after heleft the golf course on Friday, right
where did he go? But itlooks like he did return back to the
Florida area. Yeah, I justlearned that actually, right before we are
jumping on the podcast here. Ishared that in a group text because I
was just kind of doing some duediligence to make sure didn't miss any golf
news and I saw Palm Beach policewere investigating. He lived ten minutes from
(24:48):
us, and unfortunately, you know, his parents did reach out to the
tour and say, hey, wewant we want the tournament to keep going.
It's what Grayson would have wanted. But his his parents did share that
he did take his own life andthe Palm Beach police were called after nitrous
oxide alarms were going off. Hedid fly back to his home in Jupiter,
(25:12):
and yeah, he ended up initial, He ended up passing from carbon
monoxide poisoning. That's crazy. Ithought it was kind of strange that the
fiance, the girlfriend's name wasn't mentionedor any mention of her period or existence
(25:33):
in that statement from the family too. Yeah, Terry, A lot of
people were bringing that up and sayingthat I believe that they were scheduled to
get married in Pinehurst in April, and people were saying that that was canceled.
So you know, there was insix months time going from sony to
saying she's the greatest thing in thefamily, in the support system to this.
So you know, whether it's aweek, two weeks, and month
(25:56):
six months in this case, youcan just see how people have strung.
So. Uh, the reports comingout of Pond Beach Garden said fiance still
lived with him, but she wasn'tin town, I guess when he came
home, so you know, notup top to his family and you know,
everybody who knew and cared for himand anybody else who may be struggling.
(26:18):
Just really tough time in the inthe golf world, absolutely crazy.
Doesn't seem like it was that longago. We were talking about him hitting
that big putt to win to winthe Sony and playoff. Now he gave
the big fist pomp and yeah yeah, had those cranberry colored slacks on.
Yeah yeah, and people just talkingabout seeing him on the range and saying
(26:38):
how healthy and fit and everything else. But he looks so it's it's just
you know, another you know testamentthat you never know what people are going
through behind closed doors. So yeah, yeah, and then like you said,
Harry. Those guys have to justyou know, persevere and finish a
golf tournament and you know, andand hit their shots. And you know,
(27:00):
you have a guy in Davis Rileywho gets his second win, right,
So it's it's it's just nuts. And and like we said, Scotty
was making that charge. We talkedabout Keithan Bradley last week. He comes
in third, more Cowa who's beenhanging around around in fourth place Straka T
five. So you know, tome, it's like it's like who's tuning
(27:22):
up for the next major? Right? And I think we're seeing that now
with this week in Canada with sevenof the top thirty playing, but some
guys seeming to kind of pull backand do some work. But yeah,
talk about the finish of that tournament, Harry, because it's funny because he
shoots what even par, which isyou know normally you see a Sunday winner
(27:45):
that like goes off, right,he just had to hold off. Yeah.
I think the big star of theweekend was the golf course and the
redesign by Gil Hans. I meanthat's one thing that I will anxious to
watch and to see how much theywould show of what the golf course used
to be versus now, and Ithought CBS actually did a pretty good job
of that on Sunday at least, you know, they'd show the whole of
(28:08):
you know, last year, thegreen was over here and all this kind
of stuff, just to show everythingthat they did. And they did it
it in a year's time, whichis amazing to me. All the sod
and everything to bring in totally redothat golf course, and that was really
you know, the star Davis Riley, credit to him, because I wanted
to see Scotty make a run.In fact, I'm telling my wife,
(28:30):
I played Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but I came home on Sunday in
time to see Scotty because I'm thinking, I'm going to see another sixty five
or sixty four and he's going tocome from behind to win it and it's
going to be great. And heevery took my place as the number one
Scotty fan. Yeah, well,he kind of had nothing on Sunday.
He kind of ran out again. And he's been through a lot too over
(28:51):
the last couple of months. Wedetailed all of it, and maybe he's
just tired. Maybe he's just exhausted. I don't know, but he didn't
have much on Sunday and Davis Riley, to his credit, it didn't fall
apart. I mean he said heshut par but I mean, you know,
there's plenty of guys that you know, enter the lead after fifty four
holes and you know, put upa seventy five and lose the golf tournament.
He didn't do that exactly, soso credit to him. And you
(29:14):
know, he had won that teamevent last year, one where Brandon and
Sean O'Hair finished seven, right, they won that year. It was Nick
Hardy and it was pretty cool thathe hung out and he hung out and
waited for him. I thought thatwas pretty cool. You know. I
always like to see how the guyscelebrate at the end, you know,
so it was pretty cool. Man. It's you know, life changing,
(29:37):
and you know, it just goesto show you that these guys are that
good that they can just find it. Like you'll see guys go through these
stretches, miscut, miss cut, miscut, miss cut, all of a
sudden you're hurt. They find something, and all of a sudden they're you
know, they're in at the topof the leader board on the final day
and you're like, how that happened? That guy's been playing like crap.
Well, you think about it too, right, because for those guys,
(30:00):
it's a different course every week, right, So something can just suit your
game or fit your eye or justmakes sense for you one week that like
you might not even have your beststuff, but you could just you could
play well out there, or evenprobably more important, it's probably easier to
put behind you the failures of theprior weeks because you're not looking at the
same thing. It's like a wholenew thing, right, Like you know,
(30:21):
if you're a hockey player or something, it's that same sheet of ice
that you're going to have to gotake over. Right. For these golfers,
they can face some new challenges andhit some shots that maybe they're a
little bit better at because of theway the course sets up so so much
harrk. The course of course isof course the story a lot of times.
Yeah, well, sticking on thecourse of course, Harry, like
you said, Gilhan's Philly guy likeprobably the busiest guy in architecture right now,
(30:48):
I'm like, what project does thisguy not touch it? But another
successful project you said they did agreat job of coverage. But I think
it was also well received by theplayers. A lot of them were saying,
like, I did not hear onenegative comment. They were all saying
like they loved all the changes theRennos like modern nized golf. I thought
they, you know, were allshowcased really well. So I think that
the course Renner was a success. And then just on the same topic of
(31:11):
Davis Riley, well, we'll sumit up with this. This was a
decent quote. I thought. Hesaid, you got the number one player
in the world breathing down your neck. Not really any shot lead is too
comfortable, he said. I knewat some point he was going to make
a push and I expected that, and he goes, Honestly, he just
tried to treat the day as ifthey both started tied, and I just
tried to win the day. Sothat was his philosophy on going forward on
(31:36):
Sunday, and it worked. Therewas that one, one little time where
Scotty got what within a win threeshots I think, and then uh,
you know, Riley Birdie number fourand then five shot lead just kind of
got away with it. Yeah, yeah, it was. It was so
comfortable. I actually tuned out fora little while. I did. I
(31:56):
did resort to my phone for alittle bit and was like, okay,
I went to the hockey game.Okay. And then on the corn Ferry
Tour. How about Eagles fan andfuture guest of Swinging and Dinging Harry Higgs
gets another w. I mean, you know, think about where he was
right contending on the PGA Tour righthis yep, and he and he gets
(32:22):
a back to back win. Impressive, impressive stuff for the big fellow with
the with the plunging v. Igot some teas in my bag with the
birds logo on it on the topof the tea that he uses from Harry,
it's pretty great. And he moveda second in the points list,
now behind Sweden's Tim Widing. It'shis third Corn Ferry Tour win of his
(32:44):
career, second straight, as youmentioned, moves both in playoffs, by
the way you Knoxville and then theweek before the Advent Health Championship, which
is near his home. He's fromKansas City area and uh and that's that's
a Kansas City event. So hesaid, two great ones. But those
two wins were preceded by three straightmissed cuts. You know, crazy find
(33:07):
it again looking at that time, and when you're hot, you're hot.
And if you guys forgot or anylisteners forgot, the Battlefield promotion is still
in play. So three wins ina season auto puts you up to the
PGA Tour. So Harry needs justone more. Wow. Wow, that's
cool. That's really cool. Imaginethat getting that third one. Yeah,
(33:29):
but just imagine how like I wasenjoying. I mean, Harry's just a
character, so it was so fun. So not not even this week.
Obviously we had some changes with theGrayson news, but the week before,
like the corn Fairy had him doingSeinfeld Seinfeld skit, they had him doing
the Cranberry Juice. They are doingeverything, and he's just such a character.
(33:51):
It was so fun and just seeinghis personality showcase. And then to
come back and win back to backin playoffs, like both of them were
with an eagle too, right,I believe, Yeah, the second hole
this week was with an eagle.I mean, it's just so cool.
So I would love to see aBattlefield promotion. I don't know if there
actually has been one, or ifthere has one the last time, that
would be Awesome'd be so cool.Yeah, that would be cool. And
(34:15):
then there was a major, believeit or not, on the PGA Tour
champions I don't know if he sawthis, but one of your clicks,
guys the Live Golf click remember RichardBland. There's and he takes the final
round sixty three, which included aneagle at the par five fifteenth, to
(34:35):
win by by three shots the SeniorPGA Championship. And I looked on the
PGA Tour website and there's no pictureof him, there's no article about him,
there's no nothing. The only mentioneddon't blame is in the leader board
at the far right on the onthe far right column, his name at
(34:57):
the top minus seventeen. That's it, man, How petty is that?
Serious? Wins one of your majorsand then they don't give them the exemption.
Normally, if you that major, you get an exemption into the tour.
They're not giving it to them. Not getting shafted. Wow, no
clicks, no clicks allowed. Unbelievable, no cleek zone. No, they
(35:20):
are not happy about it. Daniel, you have some tea to spill for
us, and have some tea.I actually need a red. We've been
we've been very thirsty the past coupleof weeks. We've had no tea.
Oh and there was such good weeksfor tea. But Harry and you both
did a great job with covering it. Yeah, you had clips last year
last week. Yeah, but let'sget into it. Lexi Thompson, eleven
(35:40):
time LPGA Tour winner, major champion, two time Olympian, sixth time USO
Home Cup team member and most likelyone of the most recognizable faces in golf,
has announced her retirement this week atthe US Women's Open. This will
be her last year competing on theLPGA Tour as she plans to retire from
professional golf off at the conclusion ofthe season. Did you guys see that
(36:02):
news. It just broke at age. What was she thirty's twenty nine part
of me? Yeah, and thiswill be her eighteenth US Open. Think
about this wild I think her firstone was when she's twelve years old.
And she mentioned she she has acontemplated semi retirement for the last few years,
(36:24):
and again, you know, bringingin mental health. She said mental
health is one of the factors thatcontributed to her decision. And Harry,
you were talking about the decompartmentalization andtrying to like focus on the next shot.
It's easy for us, you know, being behind the TV, I
have a little bit of a different, you know, view to it.
But it's easy for us to say, come on, how do you miss
(36:44):
that five foot or this or that. But I think one of the things
that Lexi pointed out was you losemore than you went out here, and
it is really tough to deal withlosing week after week. So she said,
we all have her struggles, especiallyout here, and unfortunately in golf,
you lose more than you win.So it's an ongoing battle to continue
to put yourself out there in frontof the cameras and continuing to work hard
(37:07):
and not seeing the results you wantand getting criticized for it. She's like,
it's so hard. She went onto say, yes, it's lonely,
and she doesn't want pity. Shedoesn't want people to feel bad for
her because she is a professional athlete, but just kind of humanizing that golf
again that I think sometimes it's easyfor us to be like, ah,
this guy stinks, or you know, like how do you miss that?
(37:27):
Or you know, how do youhit that shot? But end of the
day. You know, LEXI,wow, incredible career and announcing that,
you know, I was going tosay hanging up the cleats, but I
don't know if that's the exact phrasethat we're looking for. But yeah,
announced her retirement. So I waskind of shocked at first until I thought
back to it and as Harry andI just said, you know, started
(37:49):
playing our first US Open at twelveyears old, Like that's wild. Yeah
you didn't. She hasn't had atime to be a human, to be
an adult, to do the youknow, regular life. So good luck
to her. Incredible career. Idid that one major and was part of
six Solheim Cup teams, a twotime Olympian, and she was the seventh
(38:09):
woman to play in a PGA Tourevent. Remember last year she played in
the Shriners and almost made the cutif I remember, she was winning a
shot or two. I believe witha cut. She's had runner ups in
the Women's PGA, the avy onthe US Women's Open and then finished t
eight was her best appearance over inthe Women's British Open, but nineteen top
(38:30):
tens in majors in her career togo with the one win, all of
famer. Yeah for sure. Yeah, so we can take that and we
can lead that right into the USWomen's Open. That's where Alexi broke the
rule, broke the rules, brokethe news of her retirement. We saw
(38:52):
some coverage just on the US Openoutlets on social media, Gabby Ruffles,
who just finished t third and thirdin her last two starts. They were
kind of a showcasing her swing, doing a walk down the fairway with her.
We also know that Nelly quarters inthe field. We have Rose,
we have Charlie or Harry's girl,Charlie holes in the field. Yeah,
(39:12):
smoking heaters, she burned heaters,an autographed smoking darts. I love her
even more, unbelievable, terrific.Where A Right, she's at the lou
getting ready for Lancaster, you know, an hour or so away. Oh
yeah, right right up the street. Yeah ye Are you guys going to
(39:36):
make some time to head up thatway or we're considering possibly going on Friday.
I got some other people going upon Friday, but some feet on
ground swinging at Harry Mays takes toLancaster Country Club for the It's Lancaster.
Now. This is one of mypet peeves because this is I'm going to
have to deal with all these golfnude nicks all week long, mispronounced the
(39:59):
name Lancaster. They're gonna go langCaster and all these other I call Lancaster.
The ways of saying it's it's Lancaster, Lancaster, Lancaster. Do you
say water or water, Harry,I say water water. Yeah, you're
getting some Italian water ice. Yeah, water ice, correct, not water
(40:20):
ice? Yeah, but yeah,no plus three fifty to win. That's
like Scottie Scheffler numbers right. Thenext closest favorite is Rose. You mentioned
Rose zang d plus eighteen hundred. How about that drop off from from top
to second. Brook Henderson's she waswearing though, if you saw that on
(40:40):
social she had like these aviator clearframe zone roast. Yeah, she always
wears those. Yeah they're badass.Actually I like those. Character brook Henderson
plus two twenty five and a topten looks pretty juicy. But a knock
of food away from Japan is somebodyI might put aew few dollars on attention
(41:04):
on her. Uh yeah, Ican get it. And the weather looks
like it's gonna be great here,It's gonna be right, so Finally,
finally, you're not you're not kidding. We got so I played in them.
Well, we'll get into that after. Let's let Daniel Rappert t you.
We'll talk about our own challenges inthe golf course. Yeah, well,
we'll just get into one other littleelement of tea and then we can
wrap it from there. We youknow, we asked for us what he
(41:27):
thought about the state of golf andthis and that, and he was kind
of talking about older players and youknow, mentioning some Champion Tour guys,
talking about the live guys, sayinghow he he missed Brooks and you know,
and Bryson. But let's talk aboutthe next generation of golf PGA Tour
you so we will be seeing thisthis year. The first team, so,
by virtue of finishing number one,Michael Thromjornsen, never easy to say,
(41:52):
earned his yeah from Stanford, earnedhis uh PGA Tour membership for the
remainder of the twenty twenty four seasonand twenty twenty five season by finishing number
one. So for first team playerswho finished number two through five in the
final PG Tour you ranking earn fullyexempt corn Ferry Tour membership for the remainder
(42:12):
of twenty twenty four season as wellas exemption to final stage of twenty twenty
four PGA Tours Q School, andthen they also have the ability to accept
unlimited PGA Tour sponsor exemptions for theremainder of twenty four and twenty five.
So those players are as I said, Michael thorpe Jornsen, Christo Lamprich,
(42:35):
Austin Greaser, Matthew Rydell, andNicholas Gabrielik. And then second team I
won't list them, but second inthe final PGA Tour you ranking, they
earn conditional corn Ferry Tour membership fortwenty twenty four, fully exempt for the
PGA Tour of Americas, and thenthey also get exemption to second stage of
(42:55):
PGA Tour School. So kind ofcool to see what changes they're doing.
I think it's pretty cool for golf. At first, I was like,
I don't know how I like this, seeing the grind of other guys going
through Latin and web slash, Cornberryand everything else and seeing how they get
there. But then when I themore I talk to guys about it,
it's like, look, you getdrafted for the NBA, you get drafted
(43:16):
for MLB, you get you know, you get drafted for every other major
sport. So I feel like PGAtour You is kind of a draft in
a sense, or in a way, if you will. So I'm warming
up more and more to it,and I'm kind of excited to see this
next wave of young bucks come through. Yeah, and I think it's also
a way to keep them from goingto live. I mean, you know,
(43:38):
this came came about right at thesame time, or pretty close to
it. They want to they wantto maintain that young talent in the college
ranks and not have them because acouple of the guys have gone over to
live from college. Yeah yeah,oh yeah, yeah, yeah. But
the plus forty five hundred for GabbyRuffle Okay, okay, all right,
(44:00):
we'll keep an eye on that.It is. It is I put out
on social media earlier. We probablyhave room for maybe two more foursomes in
our outing right now. I sawthat. Yeah. I mean, if
you're if you're listening and you wantedto get in, you're you got to
get in, all right. Well, if I have my baby in the
next week, will you make anexemption? You get an automatic exemption and
(44:23):
you know that you can still tellthat story. He's like, she committed
to playing in the swing and outingwhen it was two weeks after our due
date. Let's let's keep an openmind here priorities. Yeah, yeah,
no doubt about it, and uhyeah we will. We'll be back next
week with a with our DraftKings contest. Took a little week off after a
(44:45):
major. You know, always alwaysa bit of a letdown for a couple
of weeks leading into this. Butuh, I do want to talk about
our friends at all acts because Iknow people. I've talked to a lot
of people. It's funny you sawthat video of the golf bags being launched
by the Delta. Wonderful folks atDelta. I just purchased one of those
things you stick in the bag thatprotects your clubs for my trip to Pebble
(45:06):
Beach. I'm like, I'm notdealing with this phone tap to take take
one of your towels and wrap it. Take your golf yeah and everything else
for some extra padded protection, andtake your take your driver head off,
bring your tool and take your driverhead off, because that's or just get
a hard case like me, andyou don't have to worry about any of
this crap or talk to our friendsat All Access and now make sure your

be ready to go. She'll beready to go. We had North Harry
Evan Seiler's lost a tough one.The Dallas Stars, that's all they care
(46:13):
about in that part of the country. But the RBC Canadian Open. Uh,
if you're sponsored by RBC, you'replaying in the golf outing. You
have seven of the top thirty, including two time Canadian Open winner, your
boy Rory McIlory. Uh, who'smaking some headlines Danielle. Yeah, we
got to get to you. Ithought I thought that tea was headed there
(46:35):
and the tea did not go there. I mean we could circle back.
Yeah, we definitely have to circleback on. Yeah, I see,
I feel like that was last weektoo, so I was we didn't touch
it. You know, it's runningback. It wasn't because it wasn't confirmed
at that point, not that it'sconfirmed now, but it's out there now.
With with Amanda Ballionis, who seriouslyhas no pictures of her husband.
(46:58):
Uh, the source hasn't worn aring. And how long you have Rory
holding puppies at her events? Imean, you know, hey, I
just want to see people happy. That's all that matter. There's news that
I mean, it's it's all overTwitter ex if you will and if you
go on there. There was there'sa guy who's giving inside information. His
(47:20):
sister works at a restaurant. Startthere wasn't a Starbucks in her neighborhood in
San Diego, and Rory came into pick up her order. And an
all cap pulled down over his head, but he was recognized. I think
that's where this all came from.I didn't see a Starbucks for a professional
golfer to hide in the cap, right. I see him at the door
down here all the time, soI would have been harder. The inside
(47:45):
info that I saw that was likescreenshot of the d MS and stuff online
said it was a restaurant where hecame in. The order was under her
name, but he paid cash,so there was no trail. He was
also out there a couple of daysearly, ahead of when he should have
been. Obviously the other's day.Mention of his mom, no mention of
his wife, and he flies backto Florida, files for divorce, YadA,
(48:05):
YadA, YadA. Yeah. Soyeah. There also was some news
that Greg Norman offered the two ofthem a substantial amount of money to come
over together. Yeah, so that'salso circulating. So the tea is hot
and that's the news we have.Wouldn't surprise me from Lancaster too, by
(48:30):
the way, really, yes, wow, I didn't know that. Oh
yeah, oh yeah, she's okay. In addition to to Rory, we
have Saheath, we have Fleetwood, cam Young, cam Byurns back to the
golf and Sam Burns is Sam Burnsstill playing golf? Yeah right, brighter
(48:53):
copper right, yeah, I swearto god, I wrote his name down
and I'm like, man, like, what is the worst he's been?
I know, running back like twelveepisodes and I said the same thing.
I'm like, wait he finished out, Yeah, he's right. Adam Hadwin
is having some speaking about airline troubles. His clubs are still in Denver.
(49:15):
They're not going to make it.I think his wife just posted that she
was on a tarmac for like threeand a half hours and did not get
on a plane. So the Hadwinsare having some issues. Getting back to
She's she's so funny. She's sucha good follow if you guys turn following
her, yeah yeah, yeah,But it's like at that point, I
mean it's like, hey, ifthey're still not getting here, like just
(49:35):
go to the trucks and I'm makinga new set. Yeah yeah, but
you might want to keep an eyeif you liked him for this, because
I could really throw a guy off. But let's say let's talk about the
course, of course, Harry May'sHamilton golf and Country Club in Ontario.
Yeah, this is the seventh timeit'll be hosting the Canadian Open. Last
time was in twenty nineteen, wonby Rory McElroy. Has gone through an
(49:57):
eight and a half million dollars restorationby mart An Ebert. But it's a
Harry Colt design, an original HarryColt, and that's that's classic stuff.
Way back in nineteen sixteen, parseventy shorter course about seventy one hundred yards,
you know, as far as thethe holes of note, they put
the hockey rink, which I knowis Moose's favorite hole in golf because it
(50:20):
combines his two favorite sports, hockeyand golf. With the hockey boards,
they have a zamboni right there.Get some gem in here, they'll be
slamming, you know, the fanswill be, you know, banging on
the tapping sticks as you do.But I think it's I think it's the
par three thirteenth hole. They callit the rink. This is the sixth
year they've been doing this and itis actually a pretty cool thing. Two
(50:40):
hundred and nine yards elevated, tundulating and angled green. It's an uphill
shot to a false front with oneof those deception bunkers that you know is
short of the green makes it looklike it's a lot closer. Old school
designed trade there and a bunker nearthe front left corner. The finishing hole
is par three sixteenth hole, onehundred and eighty yards uphill, shortest of
the of all the par threes.Several deep bunkers protect you cannot miss left.
(51:06):
One of the characteristics of this golfcourse. There's bunkers everywhere, and
they're deep. The par five seventeenthpole five hundred and eighty yards played as
the easiest hole back in twenty nineteen. Another elevated tea. I think I'd
like playing here because I love elevatedtees and this place seems to have a
lot of them. There's trees onboth sides of the fairway, three staggered
bunkers to the left and the rightof the first landing area, and then
(51:30):
from the second landing area to thegreen, there's six bunkers that loom all
over the place. The green slopesto the back and it's really tough for
rear pins. The par four eighteenthpole four hundred and sixty yards the toughest
hole back in twenty nineteen as itplayed another elevated tee. You got Ancaster
Creek, not Lancaster, but AncasterCreek that crosses the fairway about two hundred
(51:53):
and ninety five yards out, Sothat's a pretty good spot to catch a
pro's drive. Three hundred approach shots, climb one hundred and seventy five to
two hundred yards uphill to an amphitheatergreen, a great finishing hole. And
hopefully we'll have some more drama onSunday because we had none last week.
(52:14):
No, no, we did not. We did not putting, Harry,
you gotta putt here. Yes,eight of the top ten, eight of
the top ten winners at Hamilton werealso in the top ten strokes game putting,
which obviously right, but sometimes that'snot the case. But that is
(52:35):
absolutely the case here. Well, let's see the line with our friends from

I was looking at Aaron Rye asa top ten pick plus three thirty on
DraftKings. He was third in thistournament last year, but that doesn't really
apply because it was at a differentgolf course. But he's playing well.
He was fourth at the Byron Nelson, he was seventh at Houston a little
(54:30):
while back. Give me Aaron Rye. Top ten, Mackenzie Hughes. I
got to go with one of theseCanadians in a top twenty at plus one
seventy. He's been playing some prettygood golf this year too. Mark Hubbard
has been playing well of late.Top thirty at plus money plus one fifty
for a top thirty. Your boyevr. Eric van Ruyan in a top
(54:52):
thirty at plus one twenty. Hewas twentieth back in twenty nineteen when they
did play it at this golf course, so obviously he's had some decent success
on this very track. And I'mtaking I'm taking Shane Lowry in my one
and done. He was second inthis tournament when it was played here back
in nineteen nineteen to his boy RoryMcElroy. And I wondered why Taylor Pendrith
(55:15):
was getting so disrespected, not onlyin the draft Kings for Fantasy where he's
priced at seventy six hundred bucks. This guy won not too long ago,
right at the Byron at the ByronNelson. I believe he won. And
he's a Canadian, and you know, he's played half decent in this Canadian
Open in the past. He's madesix to thirteen cuts with four top tens,
(55:37):
including the win. And he's he'shis numbers are terrible, I thought,
And I'm wondering why. Well,he's playing with Rory McElroy in that
group, and I think there's gonnathere's gonna be such madness with that group
Canadians, including Penrith with Rory mightbe a little too much for him to
take according to the odds makers.Maybe that's why they got him price.
(56:00):
That's interesting. Yeah, I didn'teven think about the group pairing, Yeah
with that, but yeah, that'llthat'll definitely be a popular group people are
following, Yeah, I like thatlave replay. I actually I'm gonna go
with Fleetwood in the one and Done. I like him. He finished second
last year r Taylor hit that ploton him. His number short. He's
right behind Rory at sixteen hundred.I feel so, I was telling me
(56:22):
the other day, not last week, maybe a week or two ago.
I'm like, man, I justfeel At first I was kind of annoyed
by him. I'm like, he'spoudy. I feel like he's being a
baby, Like I don't like howhe is on the course. But now
I'm like, wow, Okay,I kind of feel bad for him,
like it's you know, I mean, look at his last like ten stars.
I don't have that, you know, those numbers in front of me.
But he's played pretty well, andhe's had a couple you know,
(56:43):
top ten, if not top five, And I'm like, something's going to
get for him soon. I kickedhim at the RBC Hero did you finish
like fortieth or something. The othername that we've heard a lot of that
I could see getting to win hereis is Alex Norn. He's got twenty
three or better t twelve at thePGA. All that being said, I
(57:06):
have a feeling this is going tobe a mid to bottom of the board
winner for this one. Right whenyou see all these guys, because even
you know Tom Kim, I don'tI like his number at thirty five hundred.
I just see this being someone downa little bit if it's not Rory,
right, If that makes any sense, I think like an Aaron,
all the news coming out about Rory, people are like, oh, he's
not going to play well, andhe's been fine, he's been playing well,
(57:29):
playing better. Yeah, two matchups. I'm going Canadian with the matchups.
Okay, I'm gonna do McKenzie minusone twenty over Akha, this is
not anywhere near a palm tree orNo, that's right, and Corey Connors
minus one twenty over Cam Young.Wait what is It's not even Toronto,
is it? I did a postHamilton. I did a post for Brad
(57:51):
because he was up there. Hewas hosting an RBC like Q and A
with Corey Connors and Mackenzie Hughes. And I put the location down and you
know, I said Toronto and peoplewe were going nuts and they're like,
no, it's Hamilton nuts. Yeah, And I think that right, Mackenzie
(58:14):
Hughes from Hamilton. I believe,Yeah, yeah, I did. I
looked in on the location. ThenI was like, yeah, Toronto,
but you know, he flew intoToronto. He told me he was in
Toronto. Danielle, Harry and Ihave been sharing a little bit more about
our trials and tribulations on the golfcourse. For ourselves. We feel like
the folks relate to that, right, because we're all out there trying to
get better. I didn't get outas much as I wanted to, but
(58:37):
I don't interrupt you, but you'redaughter, what do you think, honey?
Can we go back to the pool? Was great? You couldn't have
scripted that any better, couldn't havecared less. But that was our Memorial
Day tournament. A lot of fun. Legacy Club always does it a great
job at tournaments. It sucks becausethe nasty storms rolled in, of course,
(58:59):
just when we get nice weather. Now we're just finished. We did
too, because we went out ateight because it wasn't a shotgun, it
was staggered, so they got theYou know, I actually think everyone finished.
They went back out after because everyonejust kind of hung out. Huh.
But a lot of fun, Alot of fun. And Harry,
we talked about it last time, about finishing our swing. When I concentrate
(59:19):
on doing it, things were startingto happen. Yeah, things were starting
to happen. There you go.How about I had that's your swing dot
right now, that's working for you. Just finish it. I just got
to finish. You just got toend up on the you know, not
all that. You know, Iblame it as a hockey player. I
blame it on Mark Reki. Rememberhow Mark Reky had that fall away snapshot.
(59:40):
That's what That's all I tried todo for years, and I think
I'm falling away out of so Iblame I blame I blame rex uh for
that. But yeah, I evenI think I even got a skin out
of it because I had a Iwas getting getting a stroke on a part
three and I birdied it net one. H. So yeah, how about
(01:00:00):
you, I know, I knowyou were working on a similar thing,
right yeah, with getting to yourleft side. Well yeah, and I
found out that, you know, perhaps the takeaway has a lot to do
with it. Taking the club alittle bit inside has helped me, uh
get it forward after impact because Idon't have to reroute the golf club by
(01:00:22):
taking it. I used to takeit a little bit outside, and when
you do that, I'd have toreroute it a touch and that would sometimes
hit me on my back side throughimpact. So taking it away a little
inside has helped. Played Friday atsix Pars and a birdie, had birdie
the eleventh hole and I actually almostdunked it with a pitching wedge. Driver
plashing driver, pitching wedge. Notbad. Remember that the gate hole,
(01:00:47):
that's the one that I that's theone that I go over. Well,
yeah, some people cut the cornerand try, you know, big hitters,
but I can't do that. ButI had a pitching wedge in you
could on a tough lie. Ohyeah, wear that for a shot goes
I've always play It's a crooked lie, no, no doubt about it.
But yeah, so a little bitbetter on Friday, Saturday or Sunday was
(01:01:08):
kind of back to a lot oftough breaks and did not did not play
as well. And then Monday playedin the tournament like your your tournament and
made a birdie on the number onehandicap hole, the fifth hole. So
yeah, two things are getting better. Yeah, I think I'm playing balat
this week again. Oh wow, early morning round one day I talk about
(01:01:30):
small greens and small targets. Yeah, that's a fun course to work on
your on your iron shots and yourbrine shots for sure. But yeah,
I mean my goal is, likewe said, Danielle, I want to,
yeah, do well in the GreenValley member guests coming up in two
weeks. I'm tuning up for that. And then when I go out to
Pebble Beach for the iHeart Trip,I just you know, I don't want
to embarrass myself out there in frontof clients. I want to. I
(01:01:52):
want to. I want to dowell. But you may be in coreparation
for that though most you know, coming off of you know, the Greatest
Threats of all time with Tom Brady, which is pretty funny. I watched
it just the other day. Ibroke it up into a couple of segments,
so good. Maybe we should uhtake you, Harry and my swing
and put it on our socials andhave people maybe not roast them, but
give us some tips and see whatthey say. And I'm sure it's for
(01:02:17):
the engagement. It's to build thesocial Harry. I mean, you remember
the old the old Moose bombs, and then when I had my health issues,
they disappeared. I just didn't havethe strengthen me to do it.
I got news coming back, uhcome back, because you guys see Adam
Sandler, he uh he did theHappy Gilmour he said first time. I
(01:02:39):
don't believe him, the first timeredoing it in how many years? But
you know he still got it alittle while ago. But they're posting it
now because they're announcing the new one. You know, I don't know how
I feel about remakes, though,I still will not touch the new Space
Jam. It's like, no,there's there's no there's no other space Chap.
Now what do you do it?What is space Jam? Harry May?
(01:03:04):
You're not I never, I never. I never saw a space Jam
And I gotta go you're not beingserious, are you? Yeah? I
am? Yeah. Wow, that'sa classic. Even like my nephew,
he's like, oh, I likebasketball. I was like, you sit
here and watch this movie club sinceCosta the Campo or are you done?
Now? You should? I needto get another round and if I can.
(01:03:27):
We actually were going to play onMonday, but are with our friend
Gabby and her fiance Dan, butshe had our cousins in town. So
we actually ended up going to DaveMatthews concert and said because we were like,
we don't want to just end.I mean, I'm just too competitive.
I'm like, I'm not just gonnabe like, hey, let's just
go get a two sums to joinus and we're going to finish like,
you know, sixty fifth. Iwas like, if I'm out here for
(01:03:49):
eighteen holes, eight months pregnant,I want to win. You can ask
Brandon's dad. I don't like, you know, falling anything under like tenth
place. So I would be miserableif I was a professional athlete. So
we didn't play, but I willbe. I'm gonna try to squeeze one
or two nice nice big week forus. I mean, you look at
that forecast. We gotta get outthere as much as possible. Tomorrow one
(01:04:12):
all right, beautiful, and wegot to get are the great Sean Palmer
from the Union Leaguer ended us anice offer to get out there, So
you and I need to figure thatout and take him up on that.
We'll figure out which one of theamazing Union League courses we want to go
to. But you can't go wrong, That's that's for sure. But I
would like to check out the landing, the little part three course, So
maybe it's a tourstale eighteen and thenthen a short course. We'll say fine
(01:04:33):
with you. Yeah, maybe wejust play all three, you know,
a Union League tour. Awesome guys, Thank you, Danielle, welcome back.
Yeah, it feels good to beback. Harry, go watch Space
Jam. Yeah, Harry gotta watchSpace Jam the original, not the remake
from Michael Jordan. Yeah, andthanks again to John Rush from Lulu,
(01:04:54):
and congrats again to the Lulu folks. The boys out there getting it done,
getting the dub. Good for them. We'll be back next week to
recap the RBC Canadian Open. Seewho gets it done? See you then,
yeah, but listen, swing itand ding it
