Welcome to swing It and Digging Man. Thank you guys. I've listened to
your show. Happy to be onwith you guys and talk some local golf
and some national golf. We arehappy to have you on the show.

(01:32):
Obviously most recently. We'll start withthe most recent and then we'll go back
a little bit, but talk aboutthe US Senior Open. What that was
like, qualifying, getting into that, and then what that experience was like
in Newport. Yeah, it was, you know, not to be hyperbolic,
but it was kind of a bigmoment for me. Took a long

(01:53):
time to do something like that, and the qualifying day itself was long.
Teed off at seven in the morning, kind of collapsed at the end of
my round with the double bogey onsixteen Bogion eighteen. Then I sat in
my truck for seven or eight hourshoping to be in a playoff, which

(02:15):
I eventually got into. So itwas it was a tough day, not
much room left to build character becauseI just feel like this game just beats
the beats you down pretty good. But that was a character building day to
you know, end up getting throughat the end. So pretty fulfilling day.

(02:36):
And then the tournament itself was thegreatest week of my life as far
as golf is concerned. Wow.Wow, Yeah. Let's talk about those
eight hours in your truck though, because I feel like a lot of times,
you know, people see who makesit, they see the scores that
go up online, or they seethe coverage on TV, but they don't
know that backstory. Talk about whatyou did during those eight hours, your

(02:58):
thoughts, if you were practicing, what was going through your head? Take
us through that. Uh yeah.I mean sometimes when you're waiting for a
playoff, you might practice or grindor but I was in flight mode at
that point. After I doubled sixteenand bogie eighteen. I I didn't feel

(03:19):
good about my prospects, and youfeel like you're kind of waiting out.
You're waiting around to get the badnews. So it was one of those
afternoons. You know, I'm tryingto move around a little bit at times
just to stay loose, but uh, it was. It was a horrible
afternoon. Really. I didn't enjoythat at all. Oh, man.

(03:40):
Yeah, but it positively. Itended positively. I had some good shots
when I had to, my nerveswere maxed out, and you know,
I still managed to hit the ballforward, So I was pretty pleased.
Now you've got quite a resume, and we're going to detail a lot of
that later on in the show. But you said something a minute or two

(04:02):
ago there that you said that thisweek, that week up at Newport was
the greatest experience in your golfing life. What made it so significant for you?
It was really a combination of things. Up until that point. Playing
us Amateurs was kind of the thebiggest tournaments that I'd played in, and

(04:24):
they were. They are amazing formany reasons. Just the USGA events themselves
are special, and they pay veryclose attention to every detail, and the
golf courses are immaculate, and they'revery difficult, and they really do their
best to define the best players,so that itself is a treat. But

(04:46):
one thing I wasn't really expecting,or I didn't anticipate to the appropriate degree,
was the spectators. And that justadds an energy that you can't fully
anticipate, and it can it canhelp or hurt. I imagine I don't
have a ton of experience, butI fortunately got into a mode of almost

(05:12):
wanting to show off. You know, you can go one way or the
other, and I wanted to showthe people watching what I was capable of.
So I had a good attitude forthe week, for sure. It
really is so a term we usein the show a lot is the golf
journey, right, And you've hadquite an impressive one and an interesting one

(05:35):
professionally obviously the amateur ranks, buttalk to us about, you know,
how you got started and kind ofhow you found your way into the game
and have progressed through up till now. Yeah, thanks Moose. I really
was nurtured by my dad and mygrandfather in the game. So my grandfather

(05:56):
worked at a course in summer andthe fringes of Philadelphia called the Philadelphia Quartech
Club. It's a nine nine holepart three course, but he worked in
the pro shop, picked me upin the morning. I would hang out
while he worked, just keep goingaround the nine holes and we'd collect the
flags at the end of the night. And then my dad was taking me

(06:17):
to burr Home driving range and youknow, teaching me bad mechanics at an
early age that we eventually dug ourway out of. But yeah, it
was my dad and my grandpa, and neither of them were super dedicated to
the game themselves, but they reallygot me on a path that has led

(06:41):
to such a happy life. I'mso grateful. When did you When did
you realize that, like you weregoing to play this at at the level
you did? Like, what wasthere a moment where you're like, oh,
I could I could make this, like, you know, part a
huge part of my life. Itprobably didn't happen until pretty late. I
did play college golf, and Iplayed at a competitive division Division two school,

(07:02):
but I was pretty terrible in thegrand scheme of things. Uh I
up right? I up? Yeah? Yeah. So after college I was
kind of deciding what I wanted todo. There was no thought of turning
professional, but my dad said, why don't you take six months think about

(07:24):
it. I went down to Floridawith some friends, ran carts at a
golf course in the Orlando area, and just all of a sudden was surrounded
with good players and professional golf, mini tour golf primary primarily, but like,
I got pretty interested in things prettyquickly being in that environment. Was
there somebody like at that point thatyou kind of looked up to aside from

(07:47):
you know, your father and yourgrandfather in the game, that sort of
you was maybe aspired to be wellin a professional sense. Nick Faldo was
always somebody that I considered the model, from the way he handled himself to
the way he worked at the game. So you know, my my coach

(08:11):
in the Orlando area was part ofthe Ledbetter group. So like Nick Price
Faldo, those were two models thatI just constantly watched and tried to emulate.
Not a bad way to go.Yeah, two pretty good role models
there, for sure, But yeah, I was. I was down there

(08:35):
for a short while, and thenI was working at North Hills Country Club
up here for for the summers, and told some members what I planned to
do, which was play some amateurtournaments, get a playing resume together,
hopefully round up some sponsorship money, and a couple of members there with with

(08:56):
very little hesitation, said well, let's let's get start right away. So
one member in particular said, youknow, how much do you need?
Ten twenty thousand, and I hesitatedbecause I wasn't sure if she was seriously
offering me money. But I wenthome and talked to my dad and he

(09:16):
said, well, twenty thousands isnot going to do anything. He said,
ask for fifty. So you know, he was a little off the
cuff there. But there were agroup of very, very generous people at
Northhills Country Club that took a chancewhen I really didn't deserve one. I
hadn't done anything as far as playingis concerned, but I was enthusiastic and

(09:41):
I was trying to, you know, help members when I could, so
I think they were returning the favorand that got me pushed in a direction
that just I'm in love with absolutely. So what do you see as the
biggest difference? Right? You know, you're playing rounds here, amateur rounds,

(10:01):
whatever it is at Lulu, right, and then you're playing in these
massive events like the US and europeplane, what is the biggest striking difference in
the players that you see that goesinto what they do. It's funny one
minute you're watching guys and you say, I hit the ball better than that,

(10:22):
and then they do it fifty consecutivetimes and you say, oh,
that's that's the difference. Six ofmine are over there to the right.
So it's really just the consistency. And I don't mean to make that sound
like it's a small matter, becausemost people, myself included, can dedicate

(10:45):
their entire lives to it and can'tget consistent at that level. I'm very
consistent, but I can't break throughto that level that they are. I
haven't been able to yet, SoI would say the difference is it's small,
but it's it's really hard to breakthrough with that level of confidence that's

(11:11):
necessary to play in those conditions. How would you describe your your style of
play more in the conservative style. You said you're a big Faldo guy.
He was very conservative. Yeah.John Rusk at Lulu calls me us g
a mike because I've I've never shotat a pin. I only hit to
the center of the green. SoI think I've been conditioned by amateur golf

(11:33):
to play conservatively because it's really atthat level, the guy that makes the
fewest mistakes can win, and youcan't really do that at a professional level.
You have to you have to takechances, and you have to execute
those those chances too. But I'mtrying to expand my thought process that way

(11:58):
and pick better spots to be aggressiveand but at the same time, as
I get older, the game getsa little tougher. And I don't know
how to describe it. It justtends to get a little tougher. Well,
when you said you were trying tokind of show off for the crowd,
you were feeding off that energy. Is that when you feel like you

(12:20):
might have been a little more aggressivenot so much USGA Mike. Yeah,
for sure. I was swinging hardoff the t and I was hitting the
ball well, so you know,I was giving myself tons of chances to
make birdie, but I just Icould not make enough berties that particular week.

(12:41):
But yeah, I was. Iwas feeling at my best that week
mentally. Yeah. Sure, Soyou've obviously had a lot of accolades Player
of the Year. After a yearlike this where you get to to where
you did, you seem like agoal setting type of person to me,
Have you have you reset goals?Do you have new goals for this season

(13:03):
and next season to just kind ofcontinue to grow in any anyway? Yeah,
It's I'm not a concrete goal setter, but I I'm always trying to
be prepared for the big moment andI'm hoping they come and and that week
at Newport was one of those weeks. So most of the time, and

(13:30):
Danielle, your husband probably knows thiswell, Brandon, that you're practicing,
and there there might not be.There are stretches where there are no immediate
reasons why you're practicing. You're justtrying to climb that mountain, and you
just get into the routine of doingthe work. But you know you're preparing
for something big. And and that'skind of how I view each day.

(13:54):
Speaking of practice, I mean, how much time do you spend on any
given week, you know, awork on the game. I try to
do three hours a day, youknow, playing golf. A casual round
of golf takes takes a while, and you're not getting a ton of reps
in. So I actually don't playa ton of casual golf because I'd prefer

(14:18):
to just get more reps in.But yeah, i'd say I aim for
three hours a day. And asdo you break that up, as some
of it short game focus, someof it dialing in your yardage, pulling
out the makefield, and rolling someputts, how do you break up those
three hours each day? Yeah,I would say I definitely divide it up.

(14:41):
I would say two out of thethree hours are one hundred yards and
in and then the other hour mightbe one hundred and fifty yards and some
drivers. I can't hit a tonof balls like I used to, but
yeah, it's mostly short game.Yeah. Now, like I said,

(15:01):
the Makefield, we see the sweatshirton there. We have to ask one
about Makefield, but two about MikeDinda and your best Mike Dinda story that
you have because we know, weknow you'll have something good. Make our
listeners live. This does air onradio. To just say right, get
ready to mark the times. I'llkeep it clean. Uh. Mike Dinda

(15:24):
is as an absolute sweetheart and he'she's helped me tremendously with with my game
with short games specifically, we've workeda lot on putting and and he was
with me up at Newport as afriend and as a teacher. But I
guess the most recent Miked Inda storyis that while I was in Newport with

(15:48):
my family after missing the cut.You know, we're we're in downtown Newport
hanging out at the restaurants, doingsome shopping, and some girl grabs me
by the arm. I was wearinga Makefield sweattert and and she she said,
uh, where's Mike? And Isaid, who's Mike? I said,
I'm Mike. Who are you talkingabout? She said, uh,

(16:11):
the other Mike, the bald Mic. Where is he? And he was
he was trying to pick me uplast night. So, you know,
just a random girl who saw theMakefield shirt. You're like, Mike's not
wearing my sweatshirt when you're doing thesethings. Branding, branding is good.
He's probably driving to the bar inthe van with the with the Makefield all

(16:32):
over the side. Yes, thatthat logo, especially when he's behind the
wheel, gets gets a lot ofexplosion. I love. I know.
We get a laugh for a goodstory. That's that's yeah, thanks for
sharing. He's the best, thebest, the Usually when we have him
on he's like on the course oreven at the convention, like the Wi

(16:53):
Fi is going out, Like Idon't think have we ever had him where
he's just like stationary. Maybe not, but like, yeah, he's always
on the move, which is reallyfunny. He's a fan of the crisis.
Yeah, he thrives in that situation. I remember Meetium in Tampa the
one year and his daughter was thereand we were watching birds Bucks game,

(17:14):
and so like, I drove overthere to see it and everything else,
and he's like, oh, comeover and you're gonna make some apps whatever.
You went to met guacamole and henearly cut the tip of his finger
off. Oh no, Michael, that's my best in distry. But let's
get back on track. Yeah,So I have a question for you.
Right, you obviously see a lotof golf. You see it at many

(17:34):
different levels. If there were oneor a couple quick pieces of advice,
right, if you had that fifteenthat was trying to get to a ten,
the ten that was trying to getto the five, Like, what
are a thing or two that yousee that you see more consistently can kind
of help people improve opposed to whatwe see, which is people just going

(17:56):
and just whacking balls and a rangefor hours on end. Yeah, if
I were giving advice to a fifteenhandicap, I might say, at your
local club, find the top threeor four players and watch them play around
and watch them shoot seventy two orseventy five or seventy whatever it is,

(18:17):
and watch how unspectacular it is,because that's what that's what it looks like
when I'm out there too. It'sjust a matter of avoiding ridiculous situations,
not trying to do too much. And then of course short game is important.
But it if I'm out there witha fifteen handicap and I give him

(18:40):
instructions on what to do, he'sgoing to play a good round for him,
in my opinion. So it reallyis just I've watched fifteen handicap play
and they just make they create damagethat is unnecessary. Yeah, all about
that. They're talking to some damageexperts right here. Aside from my game,

(19:06):
I don't mean to minimize it.It's really it's a really tough game.
Aside from Lulu what what are someof your favorite places to play?
Well, all the big names arebig names for good reason. Marion is
just perfectly designed. In my opinion, It's it's difficult in spite of its
length because the trouble is positioned soperfectly. You know, Pine Valley,

(19:32):
I'm lucky to play the crump Cupthere, and that's the same thing.
It's just subtly designed perfectly, andif it's firm and fast, it just
punishes you. And and it's it'sa puzzle, so it's fun to play
courses where you really have to makedecisions and also control the golf ball.

(19:56):
So those are two of my favoritesin Philly. You know, Cricket's fantastic
and and I have grown to loveLulu. Not not making it sound like
it was a long journey to comethere, but the more I'm there,
the more I appreciate Donald Ross. And Donald Ross has become my favorite after

(20:18):
you know, a number of yearsin Philadelphia. There's just so many great
Donald Ross courses here and elsewhere. But I love being a member at Lulu.
It's a ton of fun, itis. It's a It's a great
place for sure. Yeah. Andspeaking of Lulu, I got a question
sending here by a listener. Hesays, ask you, is it weird

(20:41):
to be one of the best playersin the Philly area but not even top
three at your own club behind Rusk, PJ and Joe C. I wonder
who sent that in. I don'tknow so well, that's PGS here.
Now that's John Ruskin. I'm assumingthat's Joe cal Jerry. He's a stone
cold chopper. I don't know howhe got thrown on that list. But

(21:06):
he's also my brother's boss. SoI'd like to also say I'm a huge
fan of Joe. Now he's agood dude. But yeah, Lulu has
you know, forty forty guys onour scratch game. It's it's an absolute
blast to play against these guys regularlyand there. It's a good reason why

(21:27):
we're all competitive is because we're justkilling each other each week. And you
know, I'm just I love itthere. I'm happy to be there.
It was a kind of happenstance thatI ended up there, and John has
taken such good care of me,care of me and the and the members

(21:48):
themselves are really supportive of of thetournament. Off that a bunch of us
play. So what's on your radarcoming up? Do you have any Champions
Tour qualifiers? What's next for youyou? I just got back yesterday from
the US site for British Open qualifyingfor the seniors. I went out to

(22:08):
the fire Stone for that. Therewere five spots. I came up short.
It was four under was the number. I shot two under. So
as there are six open events lefton the Champions Tour, so I'm tossing

(22:29):
around the idea of chasing those lastsix, but at the same time,
I'm really enjoying amateur golf and I'myou know, one day, I'm I'm
gonna chase the Champions Tour and thenext day I'm gonna play. Well,
I'm actually going to play the fatherSon with my dad at Heidelberg next week,

(22:51):
so I'm really looking forward to that. Yeah, that's special, Yeah
for sure. Yeah, well weNo, I just curious about the Champions
Store because you played on the MackenzieLatino America euro Challenge and the Corn Faery
Tours and maybe some others that I'mleaving out. But the camaraderie I understand
is so different and so cool onthe Champions Tour. Did you get a

(23:14):
taste of that while you were upat Newport? I did. Yeah,
the I played professionally from nineteen ninetyeight to two thousand and five on those
tours that you mentioned and at thatage, and I'm guessing it's even more
this way now. But because ofyour youth and the fact that everybody is

(23:41):
fighting for their lives, it canbe a cold place and you may have
three or four guys that you latchonto that are really your home while you're
traveling. So it was obvious whenI was around these guys over fifty that
they're mellowed out and they're solid intheir positions and they're enjoying the friendships that

(24:03):
they have, and then when theyget on the golf course, they're they're
all business. From what I cansell, Yeah, egos are checked a
little bit. It's funny how thatis, because on you know, the
Latin Tour or PG Americas. Now, if you will everyone, you know,
you have those friendships, you allstay together because you can't afford your
own place, so it's yet youhave that. Then you get on corn
Ferry, it's, you know,a happy medium. PGA Tour every man

(24:26):
for themselves, and it seems likeChampions Tour. It's like egos are checked
a little bit. Everyone's a littlenicer and kind of comes full circle.
Yeah, it sure seems that way. And to your point, the guys
that I traveled with when I wasyoung, none of us ended up making
it, and I'm still friends withthem because you're kind of in the trenches

(24:47):
together and you know, you justbuild some really strong bonds that way.
Yeah. Yeah, Well we'll getyou out of here with this one.
But we touched on it briefly. But want to give you a chance to
talk about Makefield putters, talk aboutyour partnership association, and you know what
your connection is with Makefield. Thankyou. Yeah. I came on with
Makefield a couple of years ago myfriend and sponsor when I was playing professionally.

(25:11):
His name is Everett far He's amember at look Away, but he's
helped me more than probably anybody withmy goth and this is one more example.
He gave me a job that givesme the flexibility to play. But
the putter itself is something that atfirst was handed to me and said use

(25:34):
this. So it took me alittle while to get comfortable. But honestly,
I would probably feel uncomfortable using anythingelse, not because it's familiar,
but this putter just feels more solidthan most A lot of putters I pick
up now I feel like toys.So this one, besides the technology that

(25:57):
it offers, just feels like areally well put together piece of equipment.
Awesome, good stuff. Well, listen, we appreciate you coming on continued
success. It was great to finallytalk. You know, we've been We've
wanted to do this for for quitesome time, so we always like to
take it back to Philly and andand talk about things going on here.

(26:17):
So we appreciate you hopping on.Yeah, thank you so much, appreciate
it. Thanks so much. AllRight, let's take a quick break and
we will be right back. Allright, welcome back to Swing It and
Ding It. Great to talk toMichael Brown. Quite a player. Yeah,
I mean all you see, likeyou know the Gap news, I

(26:40):
was like, oh, Michael Brownwins. Michael Brown wins. Yeah,
you know, this was something thatI found in my research. He's the
only person that has ever held thePennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey state
amateur championships at the same time.Damn think about that. I mean he's
won I think he've won the Jerseywith the like four times. I don't

(27:03):
know what year, but yeah, all three of them at the same simultaneously.
You know. I mean. It'samazing good stretch of golf right there.
That really is. Yeah, itis. It is? All right?
Well now, no, no,As we move on to the to
the John Deere with the great HarryMays and Vienna's mom, h we talk
about Davis Thompson his first PGA Tourwins. He twenty five years old.

(27:30):
His second year. He had therunner up last week, so he's obviously
been been playing. Any good fourshot win gets a spot in the next
three majors. With the lowest seventytwo hole score in John Deere Classic history
obviously starts down on Sunday with thatforty five foot Bertie Putt. You're like,
oh, here we go go,seven under sixty four, and I
think where he is now. Heall has but locked up signature events for

(27:51):
next year too, So talk aboutsetting yourself up for the next couple of
years. I mean he did itright there, Yeah, no doubt about
it. And credit to Sean bridAce picked him in the one and done
and he continues to lead, stretchingout his lead. My wife had him
though, too, so I wasrooting for Davis. He becomes the eleventh
Georgia Bulldog who played for coach ChrisHack, friend of the program, to

(28:14):
win on the PGA Tour. Howabout that the eleventh And how about that
that house that they all rent atPosting and Straka and him and they,
you know, you got to getin that house. You got if you
want to win, you got torent, you know, get a room
in that house. Yeah, yougotta tell Brandon he gets in. Yeah.
Yeah, I was like putting tenup in the backyard whatever exactly.

(28:40):
They say like didn't didn't go thisyear because he stayed with his wife and
six month old. So that's howDavis got in and that that's just wild
producing that. But Harry here,I want to ask you with just a

(29:00):
little quiz. So with this win, with David Thompson winning, there are
now four PGA Tour university alumni whohave won on the PGA Tour in the
last nine months. Do you knowthe other three? Well, Bert,
you can, you can yep,you can ask Moose, you can Pap
done Lap Nope, from Bama Nope. So you have we have David Thompson

(29:26):
in love big yeah. Another guywe've had on the show before. Oh
yeah, and we have one moreand he was not on the show.
This was not tell me what schoolhe went to, No, Chris got
her up. Oh well he wentto Rutgers and then Oklahoma. Yeah.

(29:47):
Yeah, so that's pretty wild.Won the beach, he won Myrtle Beach,
I think, yeah, yeah, but FORGA Tour in the last nine
months. Yeah, And I'll tellyou with the way this kid from Florida
State is playing this Luke Clanton,You're going to be another one, right,
Yeah. And then we have DavidThompson breaking Michael Kim's scoring record for

(30:10):
the event under yeah I got.And then that that last round under that
kind of pressure. I mean, yeah, pretty good stuff. It made
it an interesting watch. The ratingswere up big time. Yeah, I
didn't think it would be. Ireally liked watching it because I was really
into all these young players, likeyou had him, you had Thorbjornsen,
who's a stone cold stud. Yeah, and Clinton. I mean Clinton is

(30:33):
the first amateur since nineteen fifty eightto have back to back top tens on
the PGA Tour. Wow. Ohyeah, I believe they said on the
broadcast it was Billy Joe Patten whodid it in fifty eight. But like,
okay, what, yeah, Ithink about it's a lot of golf.
I was watching it too, andI'm like, wait again, like

(30:55):
placing this high, I was like, why do you not turn pro for
that money? But I was like, hey, when you're in college,
look at Livy Dunn going to yearfive at LSU LUSU. Yeah, you're
getting that money. You're getting paidto be in college now. It's like
and amateur golf is so rewarding.I mean, all the opportunities that you
have when you're playing that well,it's like just just stay where you're at,

(31:17):
rite it out. And then it'slike we forgot because it happened all
the way back on Thursday in roundone, Hayden Springer, who's a rookie
on the PGA Tour from the CornFaery Tour, shot fifty nine. Yeah.
Yeah, all that was it waslike it made the news on Thursday
night and Friday, and then bythe weekend with all these other young guys
tearing it up and everybody forgot aboutit. Yeah yeah. And then just

(31:38):
them touching back on you know howHayden Springer made it through Q school right
after the death of his three yearold child, and the trials and tribulations
that these some of these guys gothrough, and it's just like once they
get, you know, to thatnext mark, or they do something well,
it's you know, they'll they'll sharethat story and see that story again.
It's pretty tough. Yeah, ButHarry, you talked about news right

(32:00):
in the world of GoF got somenews this week that I don't not.
Not a single person saw this coming, saw a hint of this coming,
saw a rumor of this coming. But Keegan Bradley is named the Ryder Cup
captain for Team USA. In Bethpage, Harry, what did you think when
you saw that news? Well,I checked Twitter various people just to make

(32:25):
sure it wasn't like a fake story, because I was really it really caught
me by surprise. Yeah, Imean it was. It's an outside the
box hire. It's a total departurefrom what they have done, you know,
for years and years and years andyears, and it's once I absorbed
it, I'm like, you knowwhat, this just might work. I
mean, nobody, nobody is intothe Ryder Cup more than Keegan Bradley.

(32:50):
I mean he's Captain Keegan for sure, and he's going to pour himself into
this role, you can guarantee that, and you know much. And he's
also still going to try to makethe team. I mean he's like in
the twenties, mid twenties I thinkin the Ryder Cup rankings. But if
he gets a win or you know, a couple of good finishes, he
could work his way up there andto make himself a captain's pick opportunity and

(33:12):
you know who knows player captain who? That would be pretty cool. But
it's going to be business. It'snot going to be buddies, which I
like. He said live players arelive, and I like that because who
players could not pick bryceon de'shamba rightnow to be on the Ryder Cup team
unless you're a stone called idiot exactly. Of course I have a what has

(33:34):
there ever been a captain who wascaptain? I don't know that. I
don't need it's a good tiger declinedRyder Cup captain, you know, And
I was like, okay, SoI was talking to me about it,
and I'm like, wait, maybelike he's just he declined it because he
has the rest of his life tobe Ryder Cup captain. And maybe he's
like all right, I'm you know, I'm like fifty, but I put

(33:54):
all my focus on making the team. I didn't realize you could be both
a player and a captain. Yeah, Harry, I don't think since Reg
Dunlapp from the Charleston Chiefs has therebeen a player coach that I that I
remember a hockey movie reference. SoI love, Yeah, that's great,
but I mean, you know,if he says live players are live.

(34:15):
I know he's poison right now onthe PGA tour. But an assistant captain
of Phil Micholson, I mean theirbest buddies. They played on the same
team as partners. Why not Theybrought him up and he said, he
said, I don't see that happeningright now. I think Phil is a
future captain, but you know theyhave some time, right and we'll we'll
see, We'll see captain of theUSA. Ryder Well, he would have

(34:37):
been the captain this year for BethPage. If this whole thing, this
lived thing didn't happen. That washis job. Oh yeah, absolutely,
well, I mean with he canget in the not like he went to
set John's Norton played Beth Page. You know, with him as captain,
I think does make sense. Asyou said, Harry, when don't you

(34:59):
think about it, You're like okay, yeah, Like and with him getting
you know, kind of shunned toplay on ryder Cup last year for the
Netflix series if you will, well, I feel like he's gonna want to
come back and prove something. Yeah, and you brought up the Netflix series.
Then we've talked about this with otherstuff in the Rory stuff, you
know, leaving in a huff afterthey losing the US Open could have been

(35:22):
sort of a hey, this wouldbe a great episode for Netflix. Well
what about this you got? Youhad him taking the phone call, getting
the know that he didn't make theteam from Zach Johnson. Now you're going
to get an episode with Zack Johnsoncalling him and saying, hey, you're
the captain. Like this, thiswhole thing seems like it's scripted for the
damn TV show. Really, hewoke his wife up and it was like,

(35:44):
get ready, they're coming over. We're getting a phone call. I'm
like this, poor guy, thiswhole family's like ready, Like you know,
I'm making the rider Gus like justkidding. That was awful, But
I mean, why not just gowhy not go a different direction? Right?
Why not just shake it up?And this is the year to do
it right? You know, you'reback on home soil. Everyone thought it

(36:06):
was gonna be Tiger. But ifTiger said you didn't want to do it,
I mean, I I you gottayou gotta kind of believe that's that's
what happens. He's got a lotof other stuff going on. I just
don't know why it took this. You you saved Tiger for the away game,
right, yeah, well why didit take Tiger so long to say
no, you know what I mean? Maybe it was Alady or whatever.

(36:28):
Well they said this happened de German, Yeah yeah, and they kept it
quiet. Yeah, how about that. It's gonna be now now. I
mean, just think how interesting thecaptain's picts are going to be come out
of this, right the if youif you still have a JT or a
Speef that are that are there anda Fouler goes on a run like,
there's gonna be so much talk aboutthis now. And I love it too,

(36:52):
me too. So yeah, thatwas pretty cool. Nothing going on
in the world of golf, I'lltell you. It seems like every week
there's some huge Yeah. Well wewere talking about Netflix and you you mentioned
Rory too, So he finally openedup about as open, saying, I
know, I know. We gota lot of backlash on Twitter for Harry
saying like, hey, you oweto the media, come out, you

(37:15):
know, talk to him whatever,And then we had a lot of people
saying, hey, like he's humanand he has emotions or whatever. But
he came out saying, you know, it was a great day until it
wasn't. And then later on kindof just talked about saying like he feels
like the luckiest guy in the worldand talks about you know, being seven
years old and this being his dreamand you know, kind of put it
back into perspective. But he saidlike each day it got easier for him

(37:37):
to process. So we'll appiece somefans with some updates. Defender of Harry
as he should be, right, that's Harry Diamond, not me. Yep,
yeah, no, I'm not goingto heahed you, he bashed exactly.
I just said that that he wentto New York City afterwards and just
like walked around for a couple ofdays. Man with his head. I

(37:59):
can just see him sunglasses, ballcap, hoodie and the and the little
ear earbuds in They're just waltzing aroundCentral Park processing the walls. It's so
funny because it makes news down here, Like I'm like, somebody's probably following
them, but I think it waslike Juno Beach like diner or whatever like
it down here, and they themedia, our local media caught him out

(38:22):
with his wife and daughter Poppy andthey're like Rory and formally estranged wife and
daughter out to eat breakfast. It'slike, you know some of these guys
though they do they live in agolden cage they I mean Tiger Camp.
Yeah, he can't go. Yeah, have mob scene. Let's talk about
our golf. I have breaking news. I just pulled up the door for

(38:44):
Friday Forry and I are supposed toplay Toursdale League Tarsdale. Yeah of the
great Sean Palmer and I did notsee any more rain in the forecast for
Friday. It's it's it's crazy.Like when you were texting, You and
I were texting Monday, Tuesday, whatever it was, it didn't look so
good and I said, you know, it's total bs because it usually is

(39:05):
like by the time you get tothe day, all of a sudden,
that storm is gone. You're like, well, what happened to it?
But anyway, hopefully it does holdoff and we get we get to play
it, and uh, thanks somuch to Sean Palmer and the great people
at the Union League. You know, super Coop is going to join us.
Yeah, so I'm gonna be undera lot of pressure. Well,
you're gonna have to establish in thebeginning, like is he there to like

(39:29):
help you or is he there tohave fun? Because I think it's got
to be established. So he's gonnabe very critical if I do something bad.
I can tell you that. ButI'm looking forward to it, yeah,
so am I. And then thenI got Applebrook on Sunday, oh,
with my buddy Doc who's a memberover there, and uh and then
of course our event on Monday. And in between that, I'm gonna squeeze

(39:52):
in eighteen holes with the wife onSaturday. So it's gonna be a lot
of golf. I might actually Imight play with Wes on Sunday somewhere.
He's oh yeah, yeah yeah,so yeah, oh there goes Vienna.
Vienna joins the program. She's gettinga little bit so yeah, she's two
weeks today. Come on, Brandon, you got to be able to get

(40:13):
this under control. Yeah yeah, untouched. I can do Mom's touch,
you know what I mean. SoI think I think it's time to go
through pretty quickly, right, Butso much goes into our golf outing.
So many people make it happen. The great sponsors, clients obviously, the
Legacy Club that just rolls out thered car before us right, like,

(40:36):
it's amazing. I'm going over theretomorrow, Like what do you want to
do? What do you want this? Do you want this? Like nothing,
there's nothing I couldn't ask for itthat they will not do for us.
You have like a butler walking aroundwith you, like twenty four to
seven over there, right, it'sunbelievable. Now I did look, speaking
of forecast, it's gonna be hot, like I'm seeing ninety five right,
So we we might move some ofthe the podcast recording the shows into the

(41:00):
beautiful atrium they just built, sowe might do some of that. But
we did bump it up a littlebit earlier because we are we're close to
a full field, like two onevery hole. We're a couple off of
that just because I had to keepit that way, so we had enough
golf carts. So it is notgoing to be a fast round, we

(41:22):
know that, but it is goingto be a fun round. So yeah,
we are kicking it up earlier. We'll record the podcast right around ten,
you know, the range will open. We have incredible swag bags.
Our friends from groovett Brush have providedprovided something for that, which is awesome.
The Magical Meal Foundation will be thereselling some swag. And you know
how we roll high when you payto play in our event. We're not

(41:44):
gonna nickel on dime. Yea,there's not gonna be an arm link for
this or Mulligan Snow, everything's coveredand paid for. The Magical Meal Foundation
is selling merch, but everyone thatbuys something from them. I have three
Chevy Chase signed Caddy Shack posters thatwe're gonna raffle off right now, and
that that buys buys some merch. So yeah, that'll be a lot of
fun. That's pretty cool. Andthen obviously we have Yeah, they were

(42:07):
they were building one of the structuresthe last time I was. Is that
completed? And is that are wegonna be able? Is that where we're
going to We'll be recording the podcastin there? Yeah, there'll be in
the room. It looks it's beautiful, looks right out at the fourteenth.
Yeah, I think a lot ofstuff is gonna be going on it.
We might even do lunch and dinnerin there too, just because it's it's

(42:28):
gonna be so hot and it rollsout right into the patio, which is
which is beautiful. But obviously wetalked about Wes Patterson. He'll be there
on the range doing a little demo. Our friends from Brewerytown Chiropractic, how
about a little crack, have alittle crack before you get going. Our
friends from the Kibbutz Room, thelunch that people talked about for a long
time last year. Yeah yeah, yeah, And they're actually opening up a

(42:52):
place in pa Hair I think Whalessoon. So we're gonna keep We're gonna
keep an eye on that. We'llget out there and see them. Uh.
The Tito's Bar is at which everyonewas very very concerned. Uh,
the Daily to take it from FoxSports to Gambler will be live. Pizza
is still going to be out there. Oh yeah yeah, Angelo's yeah,

(43:13):
uh after the round, Andrew Factorfrom Clearview financially he has a hand rolled
cigars coming back out. We haveSanta Familia Tequila that's going to be doing
a tasting while DJ nico OsO fromQ on A two is playing. We
have donated beer from River Horse MillerLite Arnold Palmer Spike that's complimentary throughout the
day. Low supplies last, don'tforget about that. And so there's there's

(43:35):
multiple contests in playoffs, right,so we don't just do a long drive.
We do three long drives with aplayoff. You have whole number two,
which is sponsored by Ritaz. Numberten yeah, yep, sponsored by
groove It. And that's the LadiesLong Drive too, sponsored by Regency Furniture,
and Whole fifteen sponsored by the DowTeam Foursome's win as qualifiers country As

(44:00):
Granton Thanks Brandon UH, Union LeagueUH and then the Legacy Club for for
some there and then it goes intothe final five Closest to the Pins all
access giving away a hole in onefor a trip to Ireland. Galotti Brothers
on number five, UH tickets, the Kings of Leon and Eagles Cowboys tickets

(44:21):
for that one Ocean casino on numberseven, I called it you couldn't hit
the ocean if dot dot dot doyou like that? That? So tickets
and backstage passes as he shined downat Ocean in August and a force him
to see view it's a nice little, nice little short. If you would
have told me about that ocean thing, I would have thought powers came up

(44:43):
with that. Probably. I savehis brain power as much as I can,
you know, but there's there's someof his stuff coming up that.
I'll tell you about it, Alphaof Maple Shade. I have a hole
in one for for the for theAlpha, our buddy Tony from Taranova Restaurant.
There's a two hundred guess certificate toTaran Nova and tickets to see the
Killers at Freedom Mortgage for that closest. This is still loosely confirmed, but

(45:10):
a friend Mike, Mike Baldini fromParks Casino is supposed to be sending a
comedian over the Whole Number one todo a little backoff challenge, really to
give you a little business, uhin your backswing. It's not him,
is it. I hope he fancieshimself serious. I've seen his act.

(45:32):
Yeah, I kind of I kindof hope it is him, honestly for
Jackie to joke man when I wasParks one time. Yeah, and this
is this is a power special andWhole Number one his friends from Gearhard's Appliance.
There's going to be a closed dryerwith the lid open, and while
you're waiting, because you're gonna bewaiting, everyone's gonna get a chance to

(45:52):
chip into the dryer. Anyone whohits it, say four or five guys
chip in at the end, there'llbe a chip off for a Maytag washer
dryer combo. You're gonna gonna beable to win. Pretty cool. Yeah,
we talked about Angelo's and eleven businessright with your wife then, Yeah,
that's right. I was going tomy wife wants dryer, if she
wants a new washer and dryer tomake I was going to make it the

(46:14):
Ladies. I was going to makeit the ladies long drive fries. Wouldn't
that be funny? D Remember rememberlast year? Last year, as you're
like, would you be off likeI but I remember it was a pizza
and they were like, oh yougave that. I said they were out
of vacuum cleaners. You know,my wife's gonna kill me. Comcast Drive,

(46:35):
I don't know. Why can't wesee her? I can hear?
Sorry, I have the baby,So I just turned off my camera.
Yeah, uh, rate my drive. There's a pro that's gonna be out
there videoing just as you drive, and then the next day you're going to
get an email. It's going togive you a quick little two minute like
what he thinks about your setup andand a quick little lesson, which is
pretty cool. One of the legacypros it's actually a guy named He's a

(46:58):
friend of John DeMarco's who does this. He's a Philly guy who lives down
in Pinehurst. Now, oh okay, he posted up on the range there.
Yep. No, he's gonna beon a hole on a whole whole
twelve. Yep. We have Tito'sand Xfinity live taken over the putting green.
I heard rumors of yellow shots beingdriven around by the buckle bunnies from
PBR two. I don't know obviouslyit is. That's a tough hole.

(47:21):
That's the number one, number onehandicap. I think that works harder.
But twelve is well, twelve islike it's kind of a blind t shot.
You can't really see the fairway whereyou're trying to aim to and then
you got to go order. Yeah, it's pretty good. How you can
remember holes. I can remember thatwhole golf course and I played it one
that's my home course, and peoplelike will give a whole number and I'm

(47:43):
like, I have to like countlike before I'm like, you be will
remember of course he played like whenhe was like twelve years old. He's
like dog like left and he's likeor he'll be like, don't you remember,
And I'm like, I don't knowwhat I ate for breakfast. I've
had a lot. I don't knowwhat your issue. I've had a lot
of concussions, Daniel, I don'tknow what your problem is. But you
can't blame the baby. The baby'sout, yeah, the baby. Yeah,

(48:04):
oh no, even pre baby,I had no idea. There's like
three courses that I can remember ofthe first couple holes, and then after
that, I'm like, yeah,I don't really know. All right,
let me hit this preview. Restof this preview real quick. That's from
Dormy Workshop, right DJ read streetswill be out on the course whole sixteen
Brewerytown Chiropractic. We're going to callit the score adjustment. You like that
for marketing. So one player onthat hole can take one extra shot.

(48:28):
It's the only kind of mulligan thing, right, So one player at any
point in that hole can take anextra shot for you because score adjustment by
the chiropractor. Got it? Youknow how hard number eighteen is right here?
Yeah, So any team that birdiesthat hole gets free ivation IV hydration
therapy from hydro lux because you're gonnaneed it. If if you're able to

(48:49):
do that. The winning forsom isgoing to receive AGS twenty five membership under
Armoured gift cards and they're eligible forthe Iconic Candy Chip and Putt Playoff.
We did it last year the Chipand Putt on eighteen top five teams breaking
the two's. However, they wantone chips, one putts. Whoever wins
it both win a trip and iconictrip from icon of Candy to Cossa the

(49:10):

You know that long drive playoff,so that those three qualifying holes,
each guy gets two balls. Thewinner gets a custom suit from Rabini Bespoke.
The championship belt behind me goes onthem, that's right, and some

(49:31):
great prizes from the from the DormyWorkshop. You ready for this one hair
nice hat? Oh yeah, likehe just did a you got another picture
of that one. So the fiveclosest to the to the pin winners talked

yeah, that is a pretty valuableprice. A couple are kicking themselves in
the butt listening to all of thisthat aren't in this, Well, don't
tell them because I if one moreperson asked to get in and I have
to tell them no, I'm gonnafeel terrible. But yeah, so great

(50:36):
stuff. Excited for Excited for terrificwork out of you and the crew Moose
Yeah together, so much work toput it together. We appreciate you,
Moose, Yeah, I appreciate powershave been helping me with a lot of
the stuff. And he's got beerto pick up on Friday, so do
I. So we also worked. But let's head over to Scotland. The
Genesis Scottish Open, the co sanctionedevent top seventy five from each PGA and

(50:59):
DP World Tour. Obviously, Rorywas the winner last year at the heartbreaker
over the Scott Bobby mack No,Scottie Scotty Scheffler's taking a little bit off,
uh, But you know, let'sstart with the Renaissance Club, hackers.
This is a this is an incredible, incredible golf course. Yeah,
it really is. In a newergolf course. I mean, this is

(51:21):
what you know, A rich guywanted to just purchase the land and want
to build a golf course that couldhope championship, host championship events, and
that's what happened, and he signedTom Doak onto the project, who's one
of the biggest guys you know goingin the architecture game. It's a par
seventy for these guys, seventy threehundred yards. There's five par threes six,
nine, twelve, fourteen, andseventeen and only three par fives.

(51:45):
It's like the nineteen twelve Club, three, ten, and sixteen. So
it plays to a par seventy.Start with the par three twelfth hole.
It's two hundred and four yards andit's angled out towards the Firth of Fourth.
You're gonna hear that a lot thisweekend. The Firth of Four,
which is a body of water outthere in Scotland. It's the first of
three ocean side holes that were addedback in twenty thirteen. It's got an

(52:07):
infinity green with an old stone wallthat's you know, hundreds and hundreds of
years old that goes all down theright side, two pot bunkers short right
and a huge thumb print right inthe front center of the green. Then
you go up the side of thesea cliff for the par four thirteenth pole
four hundred and eighteen yards runs alongthe coastline. Doak calls it his showstopper.

(52:30):
This hole is his show stopper.Dog Leg left with dunes on the
right, the sea cliff left allthe way up. Depending on the wind
direction can be really challenging. Tshot approach to a bunkerless green that's close
to the edge of the cliff andit actually tilts towards that hazard. So
it's a great hole. Par threefourteenth you're coming back down now towards twelve

(52:52):
one hundred and sixty five yards andit's usually into the fan to a diagonal
green that is really pretty shallow, with a large bunker on the front left
corner and the stone wall again onthe back side of it that divides twelve
and fourteen. Then the par fourto fifteenth pole four hundred and eighty eight
yards comes back up the opposite direction, all the way uphill to the most

(53:15):
heavily bunkered fairway on the property. He approaches uphill to a high point green
with bunkers on the right and leftfront corners. Then you turn back around
coming back towards the clubhouse. Nowthe par five sixteenth hole five hundred and
seventy six yards, coming back downthe hill some thirty feet it drops.
It's got a kind of a snakedfairway, and it's reachable for pretty much

(53:39):
everybody in the field. With alarge, wide open green that slopes front
to back with a devilish green sidepot bunker on the middle left, lots
of mounds and knobs all the waydown the fairway. You can hit one
that you think looks pretty do goodin the center of the fairway, it
hits a knob and all of asudden it's in the rough or in the
dunes. Then you go to thepar three seventeen hole two hundred and ten

(54:00):
yards that was situated on actually ahorse burial site. They found, you
know, remnants of dead horses fromlong ago, and they figured it was
probably an area where a barn wasand they've left a lot of that.
A lot of those contours from theoriginal, you know when they first found
it are still on this hole. It's got a large dune to the right

(54:22):
side of a large oval green separatedby a big ridge and a large bunker
on the front left. Then thefinishing holes a par four eighteenth hole.
This is where all the magic happenedlast year with Rory and Bobby McIntyre.
Four hundred and ninety yards uphill tshot to a heavily bunkered landing area.
You got a principal's nose bunker onthe right side, the principal's ear lobes

(54:43):
to the left. The approach isall into the fan to a long elevated
green with a hollow on the leftand two bunkers on the right. It's
a great great seaside architecture with bothclassic and modern character. If you haven't
watched this tournament yet, watch this. It's great preparation for the Open Championship
of the week after. Absolutely andwhen I see golf in Scotland, it

want me to go or not.Yeah, geg, I've taken Tom Kim
in my one and done. Heplayed what eight or nine weeks in a
row and finally ran out of gas, which I kind of figured he would
in Detroit, missed the cut,so he's had that weekend off and then

(58:46):
he took last week off. SoI think he's gonna arrive in Scotland refreshed.
He's really good at links golf. He's got a couple of good finishes
on this golf course. I'm takinghim in one and done. He's plus
twenty eight hundred to win Windham.Clark is a guy. I think we'll
have a nice week. Plus twoto ten in a top twenty. Corey
Conners does nothing but make cuts, and I think he's got plus two hundred

(59:09):
for a top twenty. Looks prettygood to me. And two matchups Pavon
minus one fifteen over Adam Scott andI'm taking JT minus won twenty five over
his buddy Jordan Speith with the badwrist. Speek's another guy. I mean
he's He's gonna be on the spifcoaster all week long. It should be

(59:30):
pretty fun to watch. And thenI told you about that crazy bet.
I followed. I tailed Saya Najadefrom sports Line with a five dollars bet
that will win me eleven thousand, seven hundred bucks if all three of these
guys win. Hatton in the liveevent which is at Valderrama, Oberg in

(59:51):
the Scottish Open, and thorpe Jornsenat the ISCO Championship in Kentucky. And
it's Funnycau, They're all going tofinish it at different times. Oh I
know. Well, see, I'mjust hoping that some of them are right.
You know, one guy. Let'ssay the first Ternam that the guy
wins, and then the next twothey're in the top ten, you can
cash there will be a cash outoption, and that's what I got to

(01:00:12):
keep an eye on. I likeit. I do like Fleetwood at twenty
two hundred. Okay, d Trieat six thousand and Hoygard a little bit
farther down at nine thousand. DTree. You've picked THEE tree a few
times this last year. Yeah,a nice year for you. Yeah.
And then we got we got abunch of other events to get a women's
major. They're over in they're overin France or I think is it France

(01:00:38):
or are they in Switzerland. It'sright on Lake Geneva. I think it's
in France. But beautiful golf course, the Evan. It's like built on
the side of a mountain. It'sa resort and it just overlooks Lake Geneva.
It's unbelievable. And Nellie Corda isback from her dog bite and she's
the favorite at plus eight point fiftya tie A Titikin is the second favorite

(01:01:00):
at plus twelve hundred. I'm takingher, and Lily Avou the American is
plus fourteen hundred. She's the thirdfavorite. But I'll be watching some of
this. It's a great tournament. And then the live is in Spain and
Ram gets this John Rahm's weekend. He's gonna be so distracted on Sunday because
Spain is playing in the Euro Finalsin soccer against England. I'm fading John

(01:01:25):
Rahm. Okay, okay, I'mgoing my man Tyrrell Hatton to win that,
to win that event, I likeit. And then you got the
Isco, the Isco with the favoritebeing an amateur Luke Clanton at plus what's
he plus one thousand, plus elevenhundred. Yeah, first record to be

(01:01:45):
a better favorite. I mean, think about that number. That's wild,
that's crazy. Thorpij Ornsen is thesecond favorite. I actually like him.
That guy's a stud man. Andthen we have the Olympic approaching, yeah,
not far away, at the Openin the Olympics looming looming. For

(01:02:07):
sure, I'll be watching field hockeyin the Olympics because we got I got
a guy from my club whose granddaughteris like one of the best field hockey
players in the country. She wentto North Carolina on a scholarship, and
UH is now going to Northwestern tofinish up. But she's on the Olympic
team, so I'll be watching someof that too. In addition, that's
really cool. Yeah, and somegolf that we probably won't see come to

(01:02:30):
fruition. Is the Trump challenge toBiden giving him tennis side? Yeah,
dude, that would that would beunbelievable. Box magints. Yeah, he's
like, he's like, possibly betterthan the Masters. What is going on.

watching this be because it was ohmy god. The two of them going
back and forth, were like, this is so incredible. They're talking about
our handicaps and then saying, hey, I'll give him tennis side and that's

(01:03:15):
a lot, and he's like,I'll offer you know, he offered to
donate one million to his uh hischarity of choice if he lost. But
well, he said that at arally. Well he said that, yeah,
