in a little bit and all accesswho those guys are spending some time over
in Ireland and Scotland around these golftournaments. So we'll talk about that a
little bit further. But uh,we're getting up there, guys, We're
creeping up on two hundred episodes. You know that. Yeah, it is,
it really is. I've taped InsideGolf today, which was a lot

(01:12):
of fun out at Lulu with thegreat Harry Donnayu and Sully and Ken Phillips
and Joe Logan and were it justcame up and I'm like, yeah,
it's we're this is one ninety fourso wow, oh way, yeah,
one hundred and ninety four so prettycrazy. That is crazy. Our listeners

(01:33):
need to let us know who weshould have for your for episode two hundred.
Uh huh, yeah we should,we should. So it's it's interesting.
I was thinking a lot watching theopening Open Championship about when Michael Brown
was on the show. And ifyou remember when I asked them, I
said, you know, what wouldyou suggest to someone who's looking to improve.
He said, you know, goto your course, find find a

(01:56):
couple of the best guys and followthem around and just see how unspect tacular
it is. Yeah, And itjust reminded me of Xander because like when
you think about him, like youdon't see him making these crazy miraculous shots,
Like he's always in a good position, he's always level, he just
kits all the right shots. Andyou know, remember when he couldn't close.
Remember we would talk about him likeI can't take him, like you

(02:20):
know, and you know, herehe is, he's thirty years old,
he wins his second major. Itjust just a remarkable win. He said
it was the best round he hadever played. Yeah, goes bogee free
on Sunday. And what I lovedis, you know, it's obviously the
coverage. It's like Shane Lowry,it's his to lose. That's like Billy

(02:40):
Horschel, it's his to lose. But there were too many people that were
too close. And that's what youwant to see on a Sunday, right,
Like that's that's what you want, especially in a major championship. Yeah,
it was really good. And youtalk about you know, unspectacular,
I mean he is spectacular in theunspectacular Scottie Chef. I mean they talked

(03:00):
about boring golf. You know, these guys kind of play boring golf because
they're not like Phil Mickelson in hisprime, you know, chipping in from
a bunker or you know, hittingsome miraculous short game shot that gets him
back in the hole. Like theydo everything right. And he was.
He was unbelievable because when you lookedat it and you talked about some of
those other names, Billy Horsewell shotsixty eight, I mean he was three

(03:23):
under. Okay, that's a greatround. Of golf. Justin Rowe sixty
seven, made a bogie on thetwelfth hole that really doomed him. You
know, Tristan Lawrence who we gotto know, shot sixty eight. Russell
Henley shot sixty nine. You mentionedShane Lowry. I mean, he was
in and out of it at justwhen he's three four shots out of it,
you think he's done, and boom, boom boom, here he comes.
He makes two three birdies in arow. He shot sixty eight.

(03:46):
The only two guys that really fellout of it, ironically was Scotti Scheffler
who shot seventy two, and thatguy Dan Brown who we got to know
on Thursday and Friday, he wasin the mix for the lead. He
shot seventy four. But other thanthat, all those other guys shot a
great round of golf. Nobody Scheffleron the ninth three putts from six and
a half feet. Yeah, that'sthat's when his round was sunk. That

(04:10):
was speed esque. That's what That'swhat we've seen Jordan Speed do that,
you know a handful of times inbig spots. But yeah, it was
amazing. I mean he shot thirtyone on the inward nine when the field
average was thirty eight on that night, seven under the field average on that
back nine. That was killing everybodyall week, regardless of the weather.
He shot final round sixty five nowin both of his major wins, So

(04:34):
you're right, moves he's he's acloser now you know that that narrative is
gone gone, you know, andit's his ninth win on the PGA Tour.
I mean it was. It wasreally awesome and I wanted to see
a playoff. I know you probablydid too. I would have loved to
see Billy Horsechel, Justin Rose andXander in a in a four hole aggregate

(04:55):
playoff. That would have been incredible. Yeah, but we didn't get it.
And Danielle, we're hoping it's talkedto Brad Paxxon soon with the Olympics
coming in. Now you have Xanderwho's a defending gold medalist, Like,
what a storyline that is going intothat now you know they're talking about the
Olympics. So did you guys seethe photos they had to submit. They
all look like like mug shots.I think Victor Hovlin's is the best.

(05:16):
He's like in a hoodie, likeit would have been funny if they just
used Scotty's actual mug shot. Yeah, but speaking of the Olympics, when
you just love to eject Wyndham Clarkand put Bryson in that spot, oh
my god, I mean, seriously, how fun would that be? It
would be incredible? Incredible? Now, who did you guys think? Like,

(05:38):
once I saw Billy Horswall in thatcard again, I knew he was
not winning. You didn't like thecardigan? I did, but you're not
winning in that cardigan. It's anice Arnold. I think that was a
text Arnold Arnold did he ain't Arnold. I just I thought Justin Rose,
you know, with that steely eyedlook that he gave at his shot,

(05:58):
I just thought he was going todo it. He was so locked in
he was, and I know howbad he wanted that too. You know,
there was a whole narrative about theage thing, and you know,
I thought it was gonna be AdamScott in that age range. But here
comes Justin Rose. But you know, there were seven seven players on Sunday
that started out within what a shotof Horsechel. So if it ends up

(06:19):
obviously Xander t two, Rose andHorschel Lawrence at for Russell Henley. Ho
hum, you know five Lowry sixsoun Jay who's playing really good? At
seven. Then you had Rom thereappearance of John Scheffler and Adam Scott rounding
out the top ten, so notRory. We weren't expecting to see where

(06:42):
was Rory? I checked out whathappened to him to look. That's right,
that's right. He was gone onFriday. Yeah, I'm sorry,
but you know, we gotta marry. We wish you'd tell us how you
feel. I do every week. The player of the year is Scotty Scheffler
right now, still over over Shawfleyin my opinion, but in a different

(07:05):
that would change, that would changethings. But he has a major and
a and an almost major in theplayers and four other wins in elevated events.
I mean that that trumps to meTrump's two majors by a consecutive stretch
of Yeah, having that record, but Xander, I just looked at his
all his stats. One hundred andfifty seven cuts made in one hundred and

(07:29):
eighty tournaments, nine wins we mentioned, fourteen runner ups. He's finished third
nine times, forty four top fivesand sixty two top tens. That's he's
silly. Yeah, He's second instrokes gained total on the tour, which
is money total. I didn't Ididn't lose something. I saw it today.
Gott to be with that many toptens and tough, it's got to

(07:50):
be Crazy's raining strokes gained off thet He's twelve strokes gained approach. He's
fifth strokes gained around the greens, thirty four. But he was amazing chipping
at the at the British Open orthe Open Championship. Strokes game, putting
tenth, scrambling first, he's uhthree putt avoidance first, bogie avoidance first,

(08:13):
fifty two consecutive cuts made. That'sfirst on the tour. I mean
those guy's unbelievable. How about twentyeight point one million, twenty eight point
one wow? And then Xander's fifteenpoint nine. So when you're comparing the
two, so the only place thatthat Xander has Scottie beat is with major

(08:33):
Windsy has two versus one like thisseason, right, do you think there's
anything to the shorter player in thewind? You know you got Brian Harmon
and back are they? Is itbetter you don't sway in the wind?
Like a skyscraper when you're taking lowerto the ground. I don't know,
maybe, I mean, you know, what, what does Brandal Shamblee say

(08:54):
about that there's something he'd dive into. I do like all the the American
players that have wonted, I'm surethat that's driving some people crazy, the
Paul Lees of the world, right, all yeah, the American players,
they continue to win the Open Championship, but I mean the Open. And
we talked about this a lot higher, like for I think you and I
are in the same boat where andDanielle don't know where you stand on this,
but it's the Master's one and it'sthe Open Championship. For me is

(09:16):
too just because like the whole thing, the champion Golfer of the Year,
the Claret jug that everything about itjust ejected into me, you know,
like it rod the rotation of coursesare it's so it's so good, and
it's like I hate playing in rainand wine, but it's fun to watch
it, and it's fun to watchjust how how little those guys are bothered

(09:37):
by it. Like it drives menuts. I feel like I can't play
the same game. I feel likeI'm slipping like those. It does not
affect them at all, No,it really does. It's worked for the
caddies, man. I feel badfor those caddies. They gotta work triple
time. I caddied for Brandon Oneswhen back when it was Web with Savannah
Georgia the Landings Club and it wastorrential downpour, and that's when I had
attend the pin for the other players. Everything else, trying to hold an

(10:01):
umbrella over him who's taller than me, trying to keep the clubs dry,
trying to attend the like awful, awful. I don't know how the caddies
do it. It's got to bethe worst job in the rain. After
Yeah, it's tough. But weyou know, we talked about the randomness
of the Open Championship last week andthe early late tea times had the worst
end of the draw. Oh,those guys that played late on Friday got

(10:24):
hammered in that in that weather.I mean, you know, the guys
are shooting eighty eighty one, youknow, eight eighty four, you know,
really good players and going home asa result. I mean Hatton ended
up plus eight, Fleetwood plus nine, Ludwig plus nine, which shocked a
lot of people too. Bryson plusnine. Most of that was the first
day. Few got caught up init the second day plus ten, Hovelin

(10:46):
plus ten, Tom Kim plus eleven, Rory plus eleven and Cam Smith plus
twelve and Wyndham Clark you'r US Openchampion from a year ago plus sixteen.
It's incredible. Oh yeah, whatthat weather does to these guys. So,
I mean, that's the thing wherewhere when you're when you're trying to

(11:09):
make picks on this stuff, Dane, it's so hard. It's it's like
a toss of a coin because youcan you know when the guy's tea off,
but you don't know when the weatheris going to be the worst,
no idea when it's going to rollin, how it's going to affect them.
And all those guys you just rolledoff and the wind and those the
bunkers everything like, and that's wettrying to get out of that. Yeah,

(11:33):
well you saw a guy watching inthe morning. What's that right?
Like the guys that are watching inthe morning, and then you get to
the course and it's it's like playingit totally different in a different event.
Yea, completely Yeah, the conditionsare completely different. That was when I
got to watch most of it waswhen my child woke me up and i'd
be I was streaming that the earlytime of the open and then, like

(11:54):
you said, the afternoon much different. And how about the postage stamp hole.
I mean it's I know they focuseda lot on it, but man,
that to me is more fun towatch than the seventeenth at Sawgrass because
that thing's it's one hundred yards onehundred and twenty yards max. Maybe it
plays bunkers everywhere, and if thoseguys miss the green, you never I

(12:15):
mean you could put up a five. I mean we saw guys in those
bunkers couldn't even hit the ball tothe green. They had they had to
pitch it out the other way intothe rough and then come back to the
green. It's amazing real that littlehole. I love it. I love
it. And you know, aswe saw with Bryson, and we'll talk
a little bit about Bryson and theformer president, the par threes are the

(12:37):
par threes are the harder, evenon something like that like the par three's
are where you have to be incrediblyaccurate or you're in trouble, and especially
on a course like that. Butall in all, just a great Open
championship. The majors are done. It's unbelievable. That's sad for me.
I love seeing like x Twitter orwhatever Instagram. They already have the major

(12:58):
countdowns on how many days until nextseason's? Yeah, the Olympics though this
year, you know, yeah, and then you and then you get you
know, a President's Cup, whichwhich gives you a little something to fall.
But yeah, it's like eight monthsnow till the Masters. But before
we move on to something else, how about the difference from day to day,
from the bad weather day on Fridayto like a Saturday where guys are

(13:20):
hitting like three woods into these parfour. Some guys were hitting driver off
the decks, so they hit driverdriver and still didn't get to the green,
you know, and then the nextday they're hitting like a seven iron
or something. It's just you can'tpractice for that. Someone said on the
broadcast. They're like, if yougo out and those are the conditions,
you're not practicing, You're right,You're just it's a gets at that point.

(13:43):
But it makes it so cool tosee the creativity and see what those
guys do and come come up withbut yeah, yeah, very cool,
very cool always since since we wereon that side of the pond where a
tea is uh you know the thing. Let's let's spill some tea with d.
I mean we can start with whatyou were just saying, Bryson,
roll that right into him playing witha former president at the new course in

(14:07):
Bedminster. I mean it's an hourlong. I didn't watch the entire thing.
I you know, kind of scrubbedthrough it and watched a couple different
clips, a couple different holes. But did you guys get a chance to
watch, Oh, did you watchthe whole thing? Yeah? I watched
the whole thing this morning. Yeah, yeah, I mean it's an hour
you know, and it it goesfast, and I was just captivated by

(14:28):
it. I mean, these guysare making you know, birdies and eagles
practically in every hole. I thinkthey made par on what one or two
hole? One or two? Hold? They shot? They shot? They
shot fifty twenty two hundreds falls undergroundthe end. But what a cool game,
right, Like to go out playfrom the reds on the red and
you see what you can do likethat. That's cool. Yeah, I

(14:48):
think that you know, they gaveaway ten thousand dollars for every birdy twenty
thousand dollars for every eagle to theWounded Warrior Project. So they raised over
two hundred thousand dollars by my math. And plus they had a a thing
for you know, uh, subscribersand viewers that could donate, which was
up to like fifteen thousand. WhenI was watching it, there was one
point three million views last night. This morning, when I turned it on

(15:11):
to watch it, it was atthree point eight million views. Now I
don't know what it's at right now, but five million, four and five
million. Bryson is a genius. He is a marketing genius. Good,
and he's so fun to lot. He's so nerdy and like all about golf
and the numbers nothing else. Youknow. He's asking Donald questions and then

(15:33):
Donald's asking him. It was great. I thought it was more entertaining than
any of the stupid matches on TMTlike this. I love why people are
like, there's no way Trump wantall those club champonships. I think I
owned golf courses on like multiple continentshis age, rather like, hey,
you know his caddies four caddies willtake it and throw it back and bound

(15:54):
it. I think he uses afoot wedge every now and then. Yeah,
probably, And how cool was Neville? Like if you ever go to
Trump Deadminster, you gotta ask youfor Neville guy. That guy is going
to be in demand right out.His salary just increased a little bit.
He's going to be getting paid. But what I liked about it too,

(16:15):
like it just Bryson does a reallygood job with those with the camera work.
It's not overly produced. It's likeright behind the ball, great shots,
shot tracer, but it's not anyof this like crazy drone foot all
this. It just shows the golfshots. Yeah, you got to get
inside the cart where you have thembantering back and forth and Bryson man,
I mean her. We talked aboutit. Like the putting on that guy

(16:37):
he is a robot, right,He puts like a robot. But it's
unbelievable watching him hit the ball.Yeah, it really is. And I
know he's coming out with his ownset of clubs or at least a driver
maybe to start. I don't knowif he's going to do a whole set,
but I guarantee you I will haveone in my bag. I'm gonna
buy one and try it. He'sonly use a driver for like two weeks.
Yeah, because if he crushes theface, how about that? What

(17:00):
about he's the same way. Hehas to carry a backup head in his
bag. And I've been with themwhere it's like, you know, but
the thing with the driver head isit's like I say, it's like a
haircut. It gets really good beforeit gets bad. So it's like your
hair. Your your hair looks reallygood and all of a sudden it's like,
all right, clean it out likesoftball bats or baseball literally like them

(17:21):
infe and all of a sudden done, face crashed. He was an extra
one in the bag. Yeah,I mean, that's a lot of tea,
right there, have that one story, Danielle, that's I mean,
we could keep talking about that too, but so a little bit more of
tea. Well, let's get intotiger Woods. He was seen without his

(17:42):
leg brace. Photos emerged of whatwas rumored previously to be should have been
amputeated leg. He was out watchinghis son at the US Junior m Uh,
did you guys see these photos? It did? It's nasty, yeah,
it did. It looks like aprosthetic plastic leg kind of and then
the stitches. I mean it's whatlike eighteen inches of the like from his

(18:03):
to his ankle or something. There'sno calf muscle like. Now, the
fact that that guy's walking around yeah, yeah, I mean it's not as
bad as Alex Smith's leg. Haveyou ever seen his? I mean that
thing looks like it's like out oflike a sci fi movie. I mean,
it's a wonder that that guy canstand. It's really a modern medical
marvel. But yeah, I'm notsurprised. I mean, you know that

(18:26):
atrophies, and it's so tough tobuild that back up, you know,
in his condition. So I'm kindof surprised he went around without it because
you know, he knows it's goingto get photographed. Right. But you
know what, Harry, maybe thatwas strategic because hey, I didn't play
so well. You know, whydo you think, hey, take a
look at this maybe yeah, andthen be quiet. Yeah, so let's

(18:49):
let's stick with Tiger for a second. Then you know, obviously cal Montgomery
comes out makes his statement Tigers, you know, makes a great statement back
when you win. But what doyou guys think? Do you think now
Tiger has always said when he feelslike he doesn't have it anymore, That's
when that's when he'll stop. I'mof the opinion that the guy he doesn't
have it anymore. That's the thing. That's the thing. Do you think

(19:11):
either do you think he should continueto keep playing or do you think he
will or what do you guys think? I think right now, I think
it's okay for him to say goodbye. You know, just seeing those photos
of his leg seeing him walk around, I think it would be okay for
him to say goodbye. But inthe same breath, I enjoy when his

(19:33):
name's you know, on the boardand you get to see him watch you
know, get to watch him hitsome shots, Like I still enjoy watching
him play. There's been obviously conversationsall over the internet saying, you know,
Tiger's when he was just asked lastweek, like hey, you think
you're gonna give it up soon? You're gonna hang it up? And he's
like, I'm gonna play as longas I feel like I can still win

(19:53):
an event. And they're like, well, has that changed since you know,
in the past year, and hesays no, real softly, but
it's like, how do I wantto remember his legacy? I wouldn't remember
it, as you know, Ithink he should have maybe hung it up
after he won the Masters back intwenty nineteen. Yeah, I mean,
he's eight hundred and seventy fourth inthe world. He's almost fifty years old,

(20:15):
but he's exempt into the Masters inPGA Championship for life, so maybe
he just and the British Open untilhe's sixty. Yeah, So mean,
you know, you know, I'mtorn. Well, I'm fine with him
playing in those three because he's earnedthe right to play in those three and
if he feels he can get giveit a go, and then give it
a go. I don't like seeinghim make bogies. That doesn't do anything

(20:37):
for me. I hate seeing himstruggle, yeah, because you know,
mentally, like when he misses aputt that he knows he would have made
nine times out of ten, youknow, five ten years ago. It
frustrates the hell out of him,and it frustrates me as a viewer because
I want to see him make it. I want to see him make the
cut. I'd love to see him. In contention, I don't think it's
ever going to happen again, butI have no problem with him playing any

(21:00):
event that he feels like playing inbecause you know, he's he's the greatest,
and uh he's exempt. You know, I know, the US Open
gave him an exemption this past yearto play because he's not exempt into that
one. You know, if I'mhim, screwed the US Open anyway.
I mean, seriously, that played. That's no fun to begin with.

(21:21):
But the other three I want tosee him teeing up and especially the Master,
especially the Masters and the Open Championship. If he feels like flying across
the pond and teeing it up andold guys can win that all. I
mean, Tom Watson almost won itat my age fifty nine. It's still
possible. So you know, Ihave no issue with it. I really
don't. Colin Montgomery gave an opinion. I respect him forgiven opinion that I

(21:42):
disrespect him because he blamed it onbeing like, what do he say out
of context or something? I don'tlike? That's he said it. It
was an opinion. You just stickby it. You're gonna get criticized.
Who cares? Yeah? Now ifhe did decide to hang it up and
say goodbye, yeah, I meannobody would be How could you be upset

(22:03):
with him. I mean, youknow, and I said, I said
it on Inside Golf today, Isaid it on the X Like, even
if Tiger got a lot of hisgame back, I don't think it has
anything to do with Tiger's game atthis point. I think he's inspired a
generation of incredibly good golfers, andthe competition level now I think is so
good that he would have to beeven better that it would be almost impossible

(22:26):
to get back to the level whereyou're playing against some of these guys that
are just so good because of him. Right, But I would like to
see him going to the Torch PGAto Champions play a couple, play two
events. I think he's just wellso that could keep him fresh and sharp
for the three majors that he's exemptedto for the rest of his life.

(22:48):
Three days but yeah, you canuse a card if you want to.
Three days and he'd he'd win. He'd win a couple events there, Yeah,
no doubt. I think it'd begreat. It would give an injection
of something into that tour which needsit so badly, which I thought Phil
Mickelson was going to do when heflirted. He won a couple of events
he played in like two or threeand won them and then all of a

(23:11):
sudden, you know, everything wentsouth with him. But that tour needs
something and man, you know, nothing gives you know, attention more than
Tiger words. Maybe Bryson too,Shambo right now, that's right, former
president? Yeah, yeah, right, So anymore t d oh yeah,
so let's oh yeah. So NickDunlop who won the Barrack Couter Championship the

(23:37):
Cooter. Yeah, did you guyswatch any of that? I did,
not a second. No, Idid, No, I did too.
Actually, that was my favorite stoplast year. I had Patrick Rogers I
was watching, but Nick Nick Dunlapmoved from ninety five to sixty four in
the FedEx Cup. But he becamethe first player to win on the tour

(24:00):
as an amateur, which was theAmerican Express and as a pro the Baracuta
Championship in the same season. Butwhen he won on tour as an amateur,
he didn't collect FEDEXX Cup points andthat's wrong. I think you change
your status because thankfully, I mean, if he didn't just win last week,
he wouldn't be in the playoffs.Thankfully, since he did, he's

(24:22):
up to number sixty four, sohe's he's in for at least the first
of the three r if not,Yeah, I think if you, like
you said Danielle, if you changedyour status in the same season and become
a pro, it should be retrowhatever FedEx Cup points you earned, you
know, but didn't get you shouldbe applied to you. I just think
that's a stupid rule that needs tobe changed. I think so too,

(24:45):
because because I think there was likea T two at the AMX and then
those FedEx Cup points to it splitto those guys, right, yeah,
yeah, good young player he is. Yeah, absolutely so. Yeah.
So this upcoming week then we havethere's the three M obviously, but there's
two events from Maine, the threeM being the first of the two for

(25:08):
Twali five for FedEx Cup playoffs,So this set you have to be in
the top seventy on the season longrace. So after the Windhow Championship,
that'll be the first of the threeleg playoffs. So there's quite a few
guys they call him the fives, that are sitting on the top seventy trying
to or trying to break into thetop seventy. Pardon me, Michael too,

(25:33):
we've seen oh yeah, Joel Damon, like, I love he's way
Oh yeah, Harry Hall, whowe saw win from Uh, he's yeah,
a win on the season, buthe's still eighty one. Keith Mitchell
and then Lee Hodges. Yeah,he's defending this week too. Yeah,
and he's number seventy two right now, so he needs he needs a week.

(25:55):
Lucis Claber is seventy one. He'swon twice last The crazy thing is
is that you can win like DavisRiley won the Colonial earlier this year,
right, I think it came withfive hundred FedEx Cup points. He's he's
number sixty nine and he's won atournament. Wow, think about wow?
Yeah? Yeah, And I knowHarry Halls was the alternate tournament. Yeah

(26:19):
yeah, but he's eighty one, right, so what did he do?
Three? Did he get three hundredpoints for that tournament? Thinks? So
yeah, and his wife just hada baby and he goes, Nope,
I got to go back out becauseI need that seventy and you know,
hit playoffs and keep the card fornext year. Yeah, and the one
twenty five it retains full status fornext year. So this is this is
crunch time. Yeah. It reallyis such a grind. That's what a

(26:41):
lot of people don't realize. Butit's like, you know you're about to
lose your job. Put your performanceup like that. Your performance review is
coming up in the next two weeks. And I know, you know Ricky
Fowler is you know, has stillhas an exemption because of that win last
year. But he's ninety eighth inthe FedEx Company's not playing this week.
Don't you find that a little odd? It's bizarre? Yeah, I mean,

(27:03):
does he just do not care aboutthe playoffs this year? Is he
expected to win the wind him nextweek? I mean, I didn't even
think about that. He's not inthe field. He's not in the field?
Wow? Yeah, interesting, bizarre? Interesting? All right? Well,
good stuff? Yeah, good stuff? Her. How's the golf game?

(27:23):
I got to tell you something.I'm getting ready to go on my
crazy stretch of golf. I havenot played since our outing, Is that
right? Yeah? Well, I'veonly played once since the auting, and
that was up in Connecticut at StoningtonCountry Club, a private place up near
where my sister lives. And Iwent with two friends of hers who are
both members there, and my wifeand I went. We had a tremendous

(27:45):
day and uh I actually played decent. I uh neil for never seeing the
golf course. You know, Idon't have any expectations when I go to
a place that I don't know right, but you know, hit it pretty
good and made a bunch of barsand you know, I had a lot
of fun. I mean, mymy thing right now is Bob Rotella has
one of one of his mantras isdon't play for a score. Play to

(28:08):
have fun, because if you're havingfun, chances are you're going to be
playing better and the score will follow. But people like get up on the
score. Yeah, you know, you make a bow, you're a double
here or whatever you can ruin, you know, just lead you right into
the abyss and then you're not havingany fun and then you're just gonna play
worse. So the goal right now, when things aren't when there's no money

(28:30):
on the line, is to justgo out with the goal of having fun.
And I would take a drink rightwell, no, I mean I
didn't even drink after the round.I had a beer after the round.
I'm excited for huh, I said, aud you shoot eighty six. There
you go, awesome for a newcourse. Yeah, I'm really looking for

(28:51):
I'm playing Galloy on Friday. I'venever played it, and I'm really excited
to play to play it. Lookingforward to that round for sure. That's
great. Yeah, yeah, Ican't wait. And then I leave for
Pebble Beach Sunday morning. So andlook the weather looks incredible, low fifty
five highest sixty four, sunny, you know, not real windy. I
am so pumped. I can't wait. Wait is it sure You've you've been
out there before, right, neverto play golf. I went on my

(29:11):
honeymoon just for like brunch to PebbleBeach, but that was it and I
didn't play. So yeah, playany of the courses while you're out there.
Yeah, Spils Pebble and the Hayon Monday, and then Spyglass on
Tuesday. Hey' is the par three? The Tiger's fine? Right? Yeah,
yeah, yeah, that'll be fun. But that's awesome. But yeah,
that'll be a lot of fun.Big. iHeart big, iHeart client

(29:33):
trip. So wow, it's allall on iHeart. We have a country
act one night on the beach performing, and yeah it's gonna be uh,
it's gonna be a blast. ButI need to I want to. I
don't want to. I want toplay, like okay, right, like
I want to, Yeah, Iwant to play. Told you how you
just gotta Do you have caddies atPrebble Beach? Yeah? Yeah, nice.

(29:55):
Yeah, looking forward to that forsure, hopefully for you there all
greens there, nineteen twelve club sizescreen yep, yep. And then then
we'll be rolling right into the Olympics. So I'm excited to see to see
that. I know, I didn'treally dig in yet. I saw a
couple of the articles about you know, formats, times all that stuff.

(30:15):
I can't wait to see that. But it'll be it'll be interesting this year.
I think you know, when Xanderwon it, it was kind of
a strange time, right, itwas newish COVID. So now it's going
to be you know, galleries andall that. So really excited to see
to see how it all plays out. Yeah, I think it would be
a shock to me if two ofthe Americans do not medal. I mean,

(30:41):
Scheffler and Schaeffler are the two bestplayers clearly in on the planet.
Yeah, and they don't perform andmetal I'm gonna be I'm gonna be pretty
shocked by that. Yeah. Ithink it was that Holland who did not
allow their golf team. I thinkthey qualified by the Olympic standards, but
the slouting or whatever, like you'renot going, you're not good enough to

(31:03):
represent us. Then he tried tosue. I guess he tried to sue
and it didn't. It didn't work. I think they did that with some
of their other sports too. Itwasn't just like can you imagine you meet
the criteria and it's like, hey, now you're not good enough to represent
America. It's like what Yeah, that's when you start going through your geneology
andalogy, you know, your genecountry. I have another country here that

(31:26):
I can play for. Absolutely.I'm Dutch too. My grandfather's from Rotterdam,
like we're from like you know,my grandfather came over on a boat
from Netherlands when he was like twentytwo. And I'm like, wait,
yes, Glori Sabatini. He's SouthAfrican, but he plays for some Eastern
Bloc European nation because his wife isfrom that country. I think right right,

(31:47):
yeah, he represented I don't know, was it Serbia or something somewhere
over there, somewhere in that areabecause i was looking at the list of
golfers. I'm like, wait, how are they playing the Olympics And you're
like, oh, okay, andthen you look and see who they're playing
for, right, yeah, yeah, but it was wild. I didn't
know in Netherlands is like, nah, you're not good enough to represent us,
not gonna make it. All right, I'll tell well, let's take
a quick break and then we'll comeback and give a little preview for the

(32:07):
three m Open. All right, welcome back to Swing and think we're just
talking about the Kleslowski who did ratemy drive. Courtesy Business has been sending
out the videos and they're awesome. It's fantastic. I just found it in
my email and looked at it beforethe show. It was seven minutes long.
This guy, I mean, it'sbasically a lesser than thirty golfers.

(32:28):
He gives you a little mini lessonon Yeah, yeah, it was great.
But he just post up on onetee and get everyone as they were
on the twelfth t which is oneof the hardest, the hardest hole in
the course. It's far four, and he records you on his phone.
He gets you to put your emaildown in order and then you go in
that order on the t so heknows who's who and he gives you a

(32:49):
seven minute you know, basically breakdownof your golf swing. It's fantastic.
Yeah, really cool, good additionthis year to the golf outing. So
yeah, very excited. How didyou guys find him? He's down in
Pinehurst. He's friends with John DeMarco, the pro at the Legacy class.
Okay, he's from He's from uphere right, moved down there. Those
guys are buddies. They play alot together and senior you know, pro

(33:14):
tournaments stuff. Yeah, he wasreally good. Yeah, a lot of
fun. I mean, the thethe accolades and the stories and stuff are
still pouring in from the golf outing, which is fun. Takes a little
while to hear all the tales ofthe day, so a lot of fun.
I still got a text for usand let him know. I mean,

(33:34):
that guy, he can never missit. The guy just he should
come with a shopping cart. Seriousulous, Seriously, when I saw that text,
I was I was like, babMoose just texted us. It's like
Russ cleaned up. I told Moose, I said, test them for h
exactly how about this, But hedidn't take them, he didn't take them
the belt though. No, hewasn't in he wasn't in the long drive.

(33:55):
Yeah, no, he must haveknow he wasn't in the top three.
But it's funny they put the pictureof like their foursome and then like
I shared it, and then allof a sudden, I get to think,
like, hey, actually we tookit down. Can you take it
down? One of the guys isplaying hooky. It's awesome, that's awesome.
So we talked about two events left. I can't believe it before the

(34:16):
FedEx Cup playoffs. But listen,we have fall go golf, we have
the Olympics. We have a lotgoing on. Still we're okay. Episode
coming out, that's right, that'sright. The three M open. You
got two of the top twenty.Obviously this falls off a little bit after
a major, which is but it'ssurprising, right, you know, the
mid level guys are there because, like we said, they're trying to get
inside that top seventy. They're tryingto stay with inside the top one twenty

(34:37):
five to keep full status. Sothose are the really cool stories when it
comes to this and what we've seenover the years is you feel like there'll
be five six guys that'll change spots, but really it's only like one or
two that seemed to make a move. Now that could change, right if
guys are a little bit more compressed. But let's talk about the course of
course TPC Twin Cities little wet hair, yeah, a little. What this

(35:00):
is like, I think I saidthis last year for this, This is
like you took a Florida golf courseand plopped it in the land of a
thousand, ten thousand lakes, becausethere are about ten thousand lakes on this
golf course TPC Twin City, seventyfour hundred and thirty one yards par seventy
one. It's designed by Arnold Palmerand got a little help from Tom Layman

(35:22):
as far as a player consultant,Minnesota native Tom Layman. And there's water
in play on fifteen of the eighteenholes and out of bounds on fourteen of
the eighteen holes because it goes intoyou know, there's houses all over the
place. It's kind of like playingmaybe I've never played it, but Bluebell,
they tell me, is like thatwith inside a housing development and out

(35:44):
of bounds everywhere, but then addfifteen water hazards. You know, the
final two holes are the only onesthat I'm really going to look at.
Here. The seventeenths of par three, two hundred and two yards all water
carry and a pretty flat green, one of the more flatter greens on the
golf course. It slopes back tofront, very burdiable. And then the
eighteenth is a par five. It'sone of the toughest par fives that they'll

(36:07):
play on the PGA Tour during theseason, believe it or not. Five
hundred and ninety six yards with waterall down the right side, a three
tiered green that's kind of shallow. And when the wind is up and I
think they're gonna get they're gonna getwin this week. The water is in
play. Like I said, I'mbasically fifteen of the eighteen holes, you're

(36:28):
gonna see a lot of a lotof big numbers and you're gonna see a
lot of birdies. So it's youknow, it's kind of a boom er
bust. You know, if youtake a guy that needs to needs to
make a good week, that needsto get inside the top seventy or stay
inside the top seventy for motivation. You know, maybe that's how to play
this thing. Yeah, no doubt. Let's talk about seeing the line with
our friends from DraftKings sports Book hittingthe links this weekend. The pros are

Champ won it in twenty one.Definitely like need good approach play on this
course. I actually took Sam burnsMan. What a Sunday he went from

(38:45):
T two to T thirty one.Yeah, the Open Championship eighty on Sundays.
Yeah, I'm thinking, I'm thinkingmaybe he'll have a little bit of
a bounce back. But and Horselsin the field at towards the top of
the field at twenty two hundred.Interesting to see how some of those guys.
I'm also curree you see how KeeganBradley plays, right, it's how
focused are you on your own gameright now? But I love seeing him.

(39:05):
When Xander won, he was oneof the first guys waiting there to
shake his hand, and that's whata captain should do. Hark. Yeah,
it was a good move by Keeg. And he just named Webb Simpson
as his first vice captain nice forthe Ryder Cup, which I think is
a pretty good move too. Yeah, I totally agree with it. Billy
Horsell, by the way, saidhe was going to be the first guy
on the driving range at TPC twinCities, coming back from Scotland Tuesday morning,

(39:30):
seven am. Billy Horsel's on thedriving range, first guy out there.
Wow. I don't know how longhe stayed, but he was there.
Yeah, he made sure, rightright, Yeah, but yeah,
I mean, you know, likeI said, I'm really curious why Ricky
Fowler isn't in this field. He'sninety eighth right now in the FedEx Cup
Points Race, and maybe he's gotsomething else to do during August, doesn't

(39:52):
really doesn't really care about being inthe playoffs. But uh, to me,
you know, he'd be near thetop of the board. You got
to be accurate driver and drive itlong and accurate is going to put you
way ahead of the game on thisgolf course. So I don't know that
was a that's a that's a headscratcher, but you want to well,

(40:13):
I just I was like, let'sjust stu some digging. I went to
his key's instagram. Well, Ijust see that they did in April.
They said, we're excited to bea foursome later this summer. We are
kind of in the later end ofsummer. So maybe his baby past.
Oh oh okay, that would bethe only real reason that would make sense

(40:35):
if you're ninety six and trying toget into the playoffs. Yeah, okay,
I did not know that, Soyeah, that's that might be might
be what's going on. But I'mtaking a Milliano Grillo as my one and
done play. Moose, what areyou think about that? He's sixty sixth
right now in the FedEx Cup,needs a good week to stay in there.
I think he's going to be motivatinga great iron player. I mean,

(40:59):
you know, he had the sataface every time with his irons.
It's just a question of whether youcan put kind of like you could.
You can name fifty guys that fitthat description on the PGA Tour, but
he's one of them, and he'splayed well here. He's got like three
top tens I think in his lastfour starts. I like that play.
Yeah, I'm gonna go Grillo.Yeah. I a couple guys I like.

(41:19):
I like Matt McNeely five thousand,HOGI and Keith Mitchell both both at
three thousand, and I looked right, if four of the five were eight
thousand or more, I'm like, all right, who's over eight thousand?
And Taylor Moore is sitting at ninethousand, So if it's gonna be somebody
in that range, I like.I like Taylor more so. Yeah,
I like a Kidiyama and a toptwenty plus one seventy Keith Mitchell Kashmir Keith

(41:39):
top twenty plus one fifty. Yourguy Hogy top ten plus three hundred.
I like Tony Fena is a topten machine when he plays in events like
this one here. Yeah, yeah, and he's one here plus one thirty.
You're getting plus money for a topten? Why not? Now?
Sam Stevens and Pearson Coody are twoguys that I think that are down on

(41:59):
the board that are going to havegood weeks. Plus three point thirty for
Piercing Coudie in the top twenty andplus one ninety for Sam Stevens in a
top twenty. Guys had a goodyear. Yeah, yeah, Harry just
confirmed my suspicions. She's due Augustfourth, So that's got to be the
reason that that he's not in thefield. Probably, Yeah, you know,

(42:21):
you'll probably miss the playoffs too.He ain't playing to Windom then either,
No, no, nope. Uh. That's some good digging, Danielle.
Good work out of you women doubleas detectives, you guys. That
must be some Jupe text chain orsomething that she's on. No, literally,
just what I yeah, housewives ofJupe? Dan, When when are

(42:49):
you able to swing a golf clubhonestly. Brandon's dad, Teddy, he
yeut at me for calling him misterMatthews. She called me today do He's
like, you didn't do the podcast. I'm like, whoa for doing it
tonight. But he was supposed tofly in today. His flight got canceled.
Teddy, what a legend? Yeah, flying out Grant. I guess
the flight didn't he had a sixam play. I'm like, the first

(43:09):
flight out is usually always I know, what a disaster, no American.
But the flight didn't come in lastnight. So Teddy arrives tomorrow to meet
the baby and everything else, andBrett Brandon's thirtieth birthday this Saturday. So
yeah, I'm sure there's definitely goingto be a visit to the course for
sure. I'm technically not supposed todo anything until like four weeks, which

(43:31):
is today or six weeks, Iguess. But I'm sneaky, just starting
to work out a little bit myself, and I'm like, I don't know,
I could probably swing the club. We'll see, We'll see what we
can do. So with Teddy andTown, we'll probably do some some golf
this week over able to chip andputt. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
Well putting. That's yeah right, yeah, all right, and chipping is

(43:53):
just a putt with loft. Ifyou're a bum like me, I'm sure.
I mean, I don't know whyI wouldn't be able to swing a
drive. I mean I think Iplayed like you know, when we were
a constant apo true, like eightmonths. Yeah, the baby's out.
Yeah, yeah, good stuff.I'll be excited to uh to recap my

(44:14):
Pebble Beach trip. Yeah, nextweek, the talk about the Olympics and
everything, and uh looking forward toYeah, I'll definitely post some post some
stuff. I'll send you guys alink. Dude, there's a live live
stream on the first t Oh wow, you can watch me t off.
What time you got to tell usthe time? It'll be like it'll be
like noon here, like noon hereon Monday, okay, so nine am

(44:35):
Pacific time, yeah, like nineten something like that. As we Yeah,
that's cool. We got the SadieHawkins Tournament coming up at nineteen twelve
Club this Saturday after nice, Mywife, me, Bobby Taylor and Dan
Beavis are the team. Cool.Yeah, looking forward to that. We
all play your own ball. Ohnice, that's fun. That's cool when

(44:57):
it's like that good stuff. Allright, we we'll be back next week.
Get out there and swing it andding it. Listen, swing it
and ding it.
