Speaker 1 (00:00):
Happy Friday, everybody.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
We made it.
Speaker 1 (00:02):
That's right, it's Friday. I probably didn't need to tell
you that, just like I probably don't need to tell
you every day what day it is. It's just it's
part of what this is. I wonder if I could
go an entire four hours John without without letting people
know what day it is, what time it.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Is, that'd be an interesting little challenge. It's routine, yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
And it's technically what I'm encouraged to do by those who,
you know, put me in this position, But it's oftentimes
something I feel like, you know what, I don't am
I insulting these people. They know it's Friday, they feel it.
They could smell it when they got out of bed
this morning. Friday's here. So maybe I'll try to find
a way to tell you something you don't know. But again,
(00:42):
you already knew were fueled by Thorntons, didn't you liked?
I like telling you that, no matter how many times
I get to say it. So again, we are probably
fueled by Thornton's, and they've got what you need to
stay fueled for the day ahead. I know some folks
were probably going to be leaving work a little early
today to go tailgate.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Should be a good day to do it.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
We are going to get up to seventy degrees today
and that warm weather. It's been nice. We got some
real cold weather, even some snow to start the week,
but going to be warm today and of course this
weekend overall before the rain heads in next week. So
should be a good, good atmosphere for a football game tonight.
And we'll see if the crowd shows up the way
(01:18):
I think they will. I have no number to give
you as far as a specific increase of attendance based
off the basketball win for Louisville on Tuesday, but I
can I can check the pulse of this fan base
pretty well. And I can't speak for anybody but myself,
but I can check the fan the pulse of the
fan base and just get a feel for the energy
(01:39):
and the morale. And right now, I'd say if you
were if you were on the fence about going that
basketball went on Tuesday, probably only made you more encouraged
to get out there. And the college football is awesome,
But like, how are we already towards the end of
the season? John, Like?
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Where did it go? I'll tell you what I don't know.
I it's because of the close games has been in recently,
but it feels like the last few weeks have kind
of drug on and Indiana's on the precipice of being
undefeated for the first time ever going into the postseason.
So I'm ready to get to the end and move
forward with the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
I guess for you, it's more so, Hey, let's just
let's speed this up, because right now there's no blemish,
there's no loss, and you want to keep that, keep
that intact. So moving forward, who's the biggest challenge for Indiana?
Speaker 2 (02:25):
I mean, so, Indiana's got Wisconsin this this Saturday, coming
off of winn against the top twenty five team last
week in Washington. They'll have a bye week after that,
and then they'll end things with Purdue. So there's nobody
left on the regular season schedule that really scares you,
I feel like, and then as long as Ohio State
takes care of business, you'll have both Indiana and OSU
(02:45):
playing undefeated in the Big Ten championship game.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Yeah, it's still uh, it's still something that is crazy
to think about the traumatic change in Indiana football in
less than two full seasons time with Kurt Signetti, and
I think the moment they had last week where it
looked as if they were going to take their first
loss of the season, but yet they put together a
impressive drive to say the least, with which resulted in
(03:12):
maybe the best catch we've ever seen in college football.
And by the way, that drive started with a sack
that made it even more unlikely for them to drive
down and win the game, but they did exactly that,
And I feel like for me, not that it matters,
I'm not an Indiana fan, but that's now where I
don't think I'm going to think back to, wow, is
this real? Is Indiana actually good? Because they've shown it
with the results, And that was just such a gutsy,
(03:34):
gutsy drive to keep it alive, as if there was
never a doubt they were going to win that game.
I mean, the composure from Mendoza and just really impressive
and again one of the better finishes you've seen in
a college football game so far this season. So the
college football is great, but you only get twelve games,
and then you only get sometimes six to seven games
to like go to when your team plays. So if
(03:55):
you are on the fence about going tonight. There aren't
many left.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
That wasn't a six to seven joke? Was it?
Speaker 1 (04:00):
No that I do?
Speaker 3 (04:01):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Did I do it? And then you paused after you
did it? So I was like, did he just that's
why he heard me? You said six seven home games?
Speaker 1 (04:07):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, No it was. But see,
my mind isn't there, my wife says, and it's starting
to it's starting to annoy me. It's like she finds
ways to sneak that in, like she's twelve years old,
and uh, and I'll hear it's kind of adorable. But
I'm like, what are we doing here? I don't want
to make this a thing.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
I hate that I hear people will use They'll say
six or seven in casual conversation now and they're not
using it as a joke. But I just hear it
no matter who says it and in what context. I
hear it as the meme now, so I can't hear it.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
That surprises me because you're not exposed to it a lot, right,
You're not. You're not running around with people that are
constantly referencing a.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Couple of times a week, usually Wednesdays and Sundays. I'm
with middle schoolers on church, So I do hear it
from those people, and that's probably the root of where
it comes from.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
For me.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
I feel like I've bet teachers here more than anybody, right, Oh,
absolutely yeah. And to me it's just so stupid because
it just say to to be up front that it
doesn't have any meaning. Yet it's just said so often.
Is that not the definition of a stupid trend?
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Yeah? I'd like to see a collection over the last
ten to fifteen years how many memes we've had that
mean absolutely nothing.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
Yeah, I mean, look, the internet is is is nothing
but nonsense a lot of the time, and how things
take off is fascinating to me, just with how we
consume things these days and how things spread, like you remember,
just give you an example, like things that are stupid
that nobody can really tell you why it became a
worldwide known joke or a meme or a video like
(05:40):
remember the hawk to a girl? Yeah, like hot like
something like that. And again I guess there's there's some
there's some context there that that of the sexual nature
that would make it pick up. It's just with certain
with with with with men. But like she for about
forty eight hours was the most talked about human in
the world. It seemed, didn't like when you tried to
(06:00):
explain somebody from a previous world like why and how
that happened, they wouldn't believe you. So what on the
street she said, what and that it will happen? What
like it makes no sense. Maybe the Internet, social media
is it is turning our brain to mush, isn't it.
Everybody's worried about AI. I think it's just social media
culture in general. Anyways, quick break, we'll come back on
(06:22):
the other side. Keep this thing rolling along. Rodeo and
Neil said to join us coming up around eight thirty five,
So stick around for that right here at News Radio
eight forty WHS. So, I will admit I thought the
Disney YouTube TV fight would end pretty quickly, and we're
now looking at our third weekend where you will be
without it if you want to watch ESPN channels and
other channels within the Disney within the Disney family. And
(06:45):
I think the update was encouraging that we talked about yesterday,
but didn't result in much momentum as far as this
thing coming to an end. So when you hear that
they're at least essentially at the table to discuss getting
through their issues in service back to those paying for it.
That to me showed at least a sign of realizing,
(07:07):
all right, we're all suffering here. We got to find
a way out. This is getting bad, But it seems
to get worse because you now have Disney CFO Hugh
Johnson telling people, the investors in the company that they're
going to let this drag on as long as it
has to in order for them to get what they're
asking for. So there's no signal to compromise anytime soon.
(07:30):
So fourteen days is what it's now exceeded. So Disney
of course owns ESPN. I think a lot of people
know that. If not, that's why Disney keeps coming up
in this. But a lot of this is an example
of people don't pay attention to that stuff because they
don't care. They don't really need to know that, right.
They know that they pay for YouTube TV it's got ESPN.
They may know or just never think about it, or
(07:52):
may not know at all that it's actually owned by Disney.
So if you're wondering, well, how can a company like
Disney reportedly be able to vibe losing five million dollars
a day. Well, it's because it's Disney. ESPN is just
one of one of their ventures. And that's why I've
always argued ESPN as a as an entity would benefit
from being sold to somewhere else that would that would
(08:14):
that would make it it make it its sole existence, right.
I think Disney's culture and just brand has has injected
its way into ESPN at times, and that's just not
been good for the sports fan that wants to just
you know, watch sports. But that's a conversation for a
different day. But right now, if you have YouTube TV
(08:36):
and you're just waiting it out, you may be waiting
a long time, and that that's it's it's tough because
you have no control over it. You didn't do anything wrong.
You pay, in fact, you are paying for the service,
and unless you go use a rebate yourself, meaning you
go through the process to get credit to your account
up to twenty bucks. If you don't do that yourself
and make time to do it, they're gonna still take
(08:56):
your money for something they're not giving you. So I've
left you, Well I guess I haven't left them. I've
signed up elsewhere. But credit to YouTube TV. They got me,
They had me invest money in watching the NFL this
season with NFL Red Zone, and I'm still going to
want to benefit from that service that I've already paid for,
so i won't be able to cancel them until the
(09:16):
NFL season comes to an end. So it's just part
of it, and I'm sure I'm not alone in that
in that spot. All right, Let's talk about my friends
over at Trick County Ford. They've got some great deals
going on right now, and it should incentivize you to
get your way out there to go Seemxit eighteen off
I seventy one in Oldham County. They got a beautiful dealership,
beautiful showroom. You can see it right there from I
(09:38):
seventy one. And the deals that you need to take
advantage of right now. You can get yourself a new
twenty twenty five Ford F one fifty for zero percent
financing sixty months. Yes, brand new twenty twenty five for
F one fifty zero percent for sixty month with no
payments for sixty days. You'd be silly enough to take
advantage of that if you're looking to find yourself new vehicle,
(10:00):
because there's nothing better than the Ford f one fifty
and that's a great deal. Again, we're talking zero percent
financing for sixty months with no payment for sixty days
on the brand new twenty twenty five Ford f one fifty.
Go see them, Tell them I sent you. You'll be happy
that you did. You're not going to face the pressure
that you expect to get when you go to a
dealership because that's not how they operate, and that's why
they've been able to establish such a great reputation. They
(10:22):
have folks who bought their car at Trick County thirty
years ago. Now their kids are buying their cars there.
That's just that's that's the kind of impact you can
make on somebody when they have such a good experience
going through you to put themselves in a in a
new vehicle. So again it's Track County Ford A X
eighteen off I seventy one. Tell them I sentship. All right,
we got a sports update coming your way. We've also
(10:43):
got Roy O'Neil set to join us coming up at
about eight thirty five. He's going to talk to us
about a lot of things, including younger women in this
country looking to leave this country. Studies show that it's
at an all time high as far as the younger
demograph of women wanting to not reside here in America
(11:03):
couldn't be me? Well, well, I'm not a woman, but
also who would want to be here? Not that we
don't have our issues, everybody does. But this place is great.
All right? Stick around right here and news ready to
eight forty whs? All right, just a couple of minutes
with us before we hand it off to the fellas.
Tony and Dwight. They're come and see alive from Southern
Comfort hot tub. Tony, are you? Are you enjoying a
(11:24):
hot tub right now? Are you in a hot tub
with Dwight Whitten as we speak? He might be Yeah,
he did. I can hear him in the background. I
don't hear any water splashing, but yeah, if you thought,
if you thought your Friday was off to a good start,
imagine being out at Southern Comfort hot tubs with these
two guys in a speedo, enjoying all the all the
(11:45):
great things that come with Southern Comfort hot tubs. I don't,
I can't. I shouldn't oversell because I don't know if
they're gonna treat you to that. But they will be
at Southern comfort hot tub, which uh I've I've never
owned a hot tub, but it's it's always been on
my list of things that if I ever just you know,
have some money lying around and uh, in fact, I
astu you, I don't know where I would put mine.
But a hot tub can be relaxing, and uh, it's
(12:08):
just it's just a it's it even if you don't
use it all the time, to know that you have one,
you know, it's fun to do there in the winter.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
Say, in the winter time. I've done this before. You
sit outside when the snow's falling, and you sit in
the hot tub and the heat steam from it. You
can see the snowflakes get to a certain point and
then they just melt and you're sitting there at oh wow,
one hundred degree water and yeah, yeah, it's it's awesome.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
Whenever we go on our trips to Gatlinburg, we try
to go every so often every couple of years or so,
we always make sure they have a hot tub, and
we usually, like we go in the winter whenever they've
got everything set up for Christmas. And yes, being outside
in the cold and enjoying the uh, the comfort of
us of of a hot tub. And again they're at
Southern Comfort hot Tub today. So you guys uh that
are there with them, you're the lucky ones.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
If you're on the nice list with somebody, this might
be something to put on that list, no doubt about it.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
Christmas is coming, all right, everybody, have a good weekend,
enjoy the rest of your Friday. We'll be back at
it on Monday morning and uh we will talk to
you then. Take care of everybody.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
Go eat town.
