Speaker 2 (10:19):
You good thanks for, Coming in thank you for having.
Me so tell the LISTENERS and i a little bit
About The. Norton museum it's been around for a.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
While, NOW yes i went on field trips back as
a kid Living In. Broward county it is the largest
art Museum. In florida we have tons of wonderful things
in our, permanent collection but we are constantly adding in.
Current exhibitions some of our current Ones Are virtual vice
(10:48):
And the Art Of. Social commentary that one is more
cartoon sketches and no vice is left out Left, for
florido which Is how florida is known as the land.
Of flowers there's Plenty of chinese paintings that are. Celebrating
Flowers Blur obscure distort which is about photography and how
(11:10):
distortions were often seen as accidents but how it can
make for a beautiful picture and tell its whole. Other
story and we Also Have Eastern standard Time By Laddie,
john dill which is a. Sand installation it takes up
the whole room and argone tubes that light up and
just create a beautiful landscape that create a wonderful experience for.
(11:31):
The viewer and of course we also Have our tier
one exhibition which is artist jewelry and that Is The diane.
Vine collection and Her Husband, bernard vinet wrapped a piece
of wire around her finger as an engagement ring and
then went on to create these giant sculptures that are.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
Like that But.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
Also picasso dabbled, in jewelry and how you see the
similarities between his jewelry and his painting and all of
the artwork around it is reflective of the jewelry pieces
that she has collected from her friends that were all
artists by. Knowing them and it's a wonderful exhibition and it's. Very,
Elegant well i'm fascinating to. See that how long is
(12:18):
that jewelry exhibition.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Going to be.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
On display it'll be going through the End, of october
that is our, big one and Then come october we
have of course new ones. Coming in so the museum
is not something that you go to and you check
it off. Your box it's always something new to see
when you come Visit.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
THE norton, i agree every SINGLE time, i, come there's like,
you said the, mainstay collection which even that gets rotated
and refreshed because you have so many pieces that you
can't display them all. At.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
ONCE absolutely i just met with the registrar the. Other
day she said ninety percent of the collection is.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
In.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
Storage, Amazing okay so, that way like, you, said though
it's always something cool and something, new absolutely, like listen,
something old, something new maybe some blue how that? Game Goes,
Why no i've come in. THE past i Love the chinese.
Jade collection it's always fascinated by the artist's detail and all.
The work and it's, so old so they like they
(13:13):
didn't have all the modern tools that we have now
to create stuff. Like that and it's, so, beautiful yes and.
So detailed and then there was the movie several years
ago where they were talking about like rescuing the paintings
from war zones and stuff. Like that and you have
one of those paintings hanging At the norton so people
can come.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
See it. It's.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
Amazing yes and of course one of the big things
you've been working On is Art. After, dark yes what's
Happening for Art? After DARK because i know every It's, every, friday.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
Right fifty two fridays. A.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Year yes so how much does? It cost how does?
Speaker 3 (13:45):
It?
Speaker 2 (13:45):
Work.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
Absolutely so admission is, ten dollars so a reduced price.
For everyone it runs from five pm to. Ten pm
teachers actually get in. For free and then we typically
have a performance every, single night and that performance very oftentimes.
It's music then occasionally it's, dance theater b, you disco
(14:06):
which is, quite popular and we try to keep that
rotation going so that you never see the same. Thing
twice we do have performers that we love and our,
members love and you'll see those familiar, faces around but
we do try to keep a lot of exciting new
activities all.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
SAME here i have different guests commit all, the time
but a people to, come back Like the norton because
people like want to know what's, going on and that's
my show, is fortune so to all let people know it's. Going,
on Yes so, i'm EXCITED so. I know the, first
generally the first art after dark every month Is the, Jazz.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
One yes and that is by far the most. Popular
night the next one we have Coming Is Trenton klaz
he's an amazing jazz artist bas Out. Of miami but
then the other days of the week we have that's
where it gets related to our exhibitions that are. Going
on so, For instance july, twenty fifth We Have Sea
(15:02):
change collective coming to do a theater piece in our
auditorium based on their experience With The laddie john, dellx
swhibition so they devise this theatrical production. For us and
then later that night we'll have a music Performance By
simon benegez who's, a guitarist and we'll have open studio
(15:23):
that's also relating to light.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
In Space what i'd like when you come to the
open studio because like the people coming get to do
the different art and try Things and i'm done.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
With, you yeah need, some PRACTICE.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
But i had a great time with my friends. Doing
it and of course There's like naussey bites and drinks
and stuff available. As well, right.
Speaker 3 (15:43):
Absolutely our bar and our restaurant is more than happy to.
Accommodate everything and then we have a bar closer to
the performance just to keep.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
Everyone refreshed and so usually there's a docent led tour
as well as part of the events for.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
The, night yes so twice throughout the night we have two,
different tours so four tours. In total one will bring
you through the highlights of, the collection so if you've
never been, here before it's a great time to see
what's in our, permanent collection and then one focuses on the,
main exhibition Which Is. Artist story oh.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
Very nice and OF course i recently saw all over
social media that you've started a really. Cool thing speaking
of the. Jazz lovers On, select Sundays, not friday But,
select sundays they'll be jazz and it's happening in. The,
restaurant yes so it is a.
Speaker 3 (16:31):
Jazz brunch sixty dollars for all you can eat kids
under thirteen or thirty five and then kids under four.
Are free so with that cost is your admission for.
The museum and it's been so popular there was a
wait a, line before so we definitely suggest that you
make your reservation ahead of. Time online, but yes our
(16:55):
next Performer Is. Res spiegel he is a jazz musician
that everyone has seen it art after. Our before everyone.
Loves him but he will be performing while you enjoy this.
Decadent brunch you can add on some endless Mimosas Or.
Bloody mary's and following that we've actually paired it nicely
to where once the jazz brunch. Wraps up right, after
(17:17):
that we started a film series that also highlights. Artist's
jewelry It's Called. Hollywood gems our next jazz Brunch is,
july twentieth and that Same Afternoon Is She Done? Him
wrong from nineteen thirty Three with Maywest And. Kerry grant so.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
Very cool so you sign up for the jazz brunch
and includes your admission to the museum and they can
go enjoy the. Movie, Afterwork, correct yes. All included so
what's the website for them to go and sign up
for THIS because i know they want to sign.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
Up.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
Today yeah so you can go To the norton dot
org and go to the restaurant tab for the reservation
For The, jazz brunch and then if you want to
see all the other programs we have, going on family
studio art around, the world, community days all of that
art after dark even will list be listed in the.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
Programs, tab oh, very COOL because I know i look
at the programs tab all, the time but this brunch.
SOUNDS lovely i.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
Like it it's been.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
Quite successful and of course right across the street from
the museum is the.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
Parking, lot yes the parking Lot on dixie is going
to be Your best, well, YEAH no i tell, People,
carpool yes please car pool park, over there come across
or take.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
An owhere you get even closer right in the. Parking
loop that's even. More, convenient yes especially if you. Live,
downtown yes speaking of living downtown. The community you guys
are doing a really cool thing summer At the norton
where people who Live In Palm beach county can Come
every saturday, for free, Right.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
Correct, every Saturday. One saturday we just want to thank
our year round residence and encourage them to come into.
The museum it's free For All Palm beach, county residents
and during, the year it's free For All West palm,
beach residents But For Palm, beach county we just want
(19:03):
to encourage everyone who hasn't maybe. Stopped in, oh.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
Yeah you, haven't been or you haven't been in, a while.
STOP in i always tell people it's a great place.
To go meet up with, a friend do a coffee
and the, little restaurant, walk around check, things out or
walk around things check, things out then have, brunch there
or go down the street to the tea house wherever
you want to go and just meet up with, your
friends do the little antiqurove. Shopping afterward it's a fun place.
(19:29):
To go it's a little, hot outside so it's nice
and cool in our. Air conditioning great rainy day thing
with the kiddos and my friends are like it's raining
we're run to the North and, i'm, like okay par.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
See there our air conditioning. Is brilliant it is, OUR theory,
i mean.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
And, it's fun. You KNOW but i think it's so
cool that you're doing all these. Awesome things and of
course right Now through november, twenty third you have the
after school program that happens throughout, the year and now
all the kids' artwork is actually, hanging up so they're
being exhibited in a world.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
Class, museum absolutely it takes up the whole wing that surrounds,
the classrooms and it's centering around the theme. Of home
so throughout the year that museum educators go out to
these after school outreach locations and work, on projects and
so they have now pieced together. Those projects so if
(20:21):
they made a panel of, a sheet it is now
hanging as one big tapestry or another ONE that i
love is a, cyano type so the sun casts down
on their hands and makes the white shadows and the rest,
turns blue and so all their hands are around it
(20:41):
and it is now draped as a, little home like a.
Little house so it's a wonderful exhibition and the kids
were so happy to see their art next to You Know, degaz.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
Well, OF course i mean it's great seeing on the,
frigid home but this is just next level, for them
and they can, honestly say, you, know hey my art
hung on, a museum, you know and to, Be honest
i've come and checked. It out they are. SO talented,
i mean these little these kids are The next Picasso.
And degaw they have that that germ of talent that's
(21:17):
now being nurtured through. Your.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
PROGRAMS absolutely i actually had a or a guest come
up to Me at Art after dark, and SAY can
i buy one? Of THESE and, i said is? That possible?
Their children and, she, said well children can may have,
lemonade stands they can, sell things AND so i reached
out to the school and, sure enough they're beautiful painting.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
Was sold. That's fantastic so that's. So, cool yeah just
even more validation that they're dark sunt and they're, going
SOMEWHERE which i think. Is fantastic and speaking of going
somewhere for folks who want to Come to Art after Dark,
in august, you Said like august first is going to
Be The Trenton Class, jazz, trio which Of course robot
(22:02):
who else is Coming. In august, august eighth we're doing something.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
Very exciting we have a, wellness night so we will
have our classical guitarist Performing In stiller auditorium just as
a nice way to round out the night with some relaxing.
Classical music but a little, before that we're going to
have all. Different workshops are going to, have Breathworks tai
chi soundbath In The Laddie john, dill installation so that
(22:31):
whole exhibition will just come to life with those. Sound
bows and in open studio you'll be able to make
crystal bracelets that. Are woven so you'll pick your crystal
with whatever intention it has, and carries and you'll be
able to weave the rest. Of it so that will.
Be wonderful august, Twenty, NINTH.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
Well i was, Gonna say i'm putting Hang one second'm
gona pint that. My, calendar okay put that my calendar
in my phone. Right, NOW no i don't want to miss.
That one it'll be. All amazing but, That one, I'm,
like oh, my friends we love like the sound Bath thing,
i've done where they've done the like the button. Sound
bowls it is. So amazing if you've never, done it
it's like and you like feel it in. Your body it's, really.
Speaker 3 (23:12):
Neat absolutely and with to put it With The eastern
Standard Time Laddie, john dill which is already a spiritual
experience to be in that room with, that artwork but
to put the sound bowls, in there there was a
moment of will the sand? Be okay because those vibrations.
Are intense but we know that it'll be a. Wonderful
(23:35):
experience so if that's your First stone, bath experience you
might never. Go back.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
Always.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
Go back you'll always, go, back, repeat REPEAT guest i.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
Love it And then august, twenty ninth that's our end of,
summer celebration so we're going to have.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
An.
Speaker 3 (23:51):
Open studio you're going to be painting boxes of dominoes
so little it take home game to always have that
goes well with on. Our lawn we're going to have
some big, oversized games so Like giant jenga And, giant
checkers things of. That nature And Then jeremy belotte will
be the performer. That night he's a dear friend, of
(24:14):
mine but he was recently On the voice and he
was on. The top, you know he was a finalist
on the Voice Team snoop dog.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
That's, cool, yes WELL and i love you get this.
Amazing talent so people come for obviously for the art,
after darks and then you also do like u fun
things where you go out and work in collaboration with
other people in. The community so you guys are doing
the thing with the art With The Armory Art Center
jewelry making Thing which, august, Ninth, right.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
Yes so the morning starts at ten am with a
thirty minute tour and each workshop has centered around one.
Specific artist so the next one coming up will be
On A niche kapoor and you will have a tour
Studying A Niche coppour's jwely that's, on display and then
you drive over To the armory and have a jewelry
making workshop to emulate and sort of Honor any.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
Skopoor's, ART oh i think it's. So cool now people
do need to sign up. For, that again, limited seating
so register. Right away it's one hundred dollars a person
unless you're a member of. The museum so if you're a,
museum member it's, ninety dollars so get a little bit of.
A discount always pays to. BE member i. Like that
and then of course you always do the really Fun.
(25:25):
Community days so next one COMING up i See is,
august sixteenth and this one is what art Around. The,
world yes So.
Speaker 3 (25:33):
For community, days again admission, Is free so admission free On.
This saturday parking will also be free On. That saturday
and it used To be games Around, the world and
so we would play different games and tell the history about.
Those games but now we really want to use that
around the world traveling experience with our galleries as we
(25:54):
have art from around. The world so you will be
given a passport with a a self guided experience to
go around the museum and collect stamps on, your passport
and these galleries will just come. To life we will
have different activities within. The galleries our docins will be
stationed in the galleries to guide meet you where, you're
(26:16):
at and we will have musicians that will be playing
music from the specific countries that these galleries. Are highlighting
oh that's, so cool like a true like global experience.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
For, FOLKS yes. I like also if people would like
to become, a DOCENT because i know you guys always loll,
for volunteers is it possible for them to sign up
now and get training to.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
Be. DOCENT absolutely i believe our next one is starting
within a, few weeks so it'll be important to check out. The,
website absolutely, and yes our docins are just the most
important part of the museum for our members and for
our visitors to learn what. It is you can look
