Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, let's get to the birthday prank call. Peggy

(00:02):
asked me to prank her daughter in law, Charlene. Charlene
has agreed to host Thanksgiving dinner this year, but she's
not that great of a cook. So Peggy told Charlene
that she knows a chef who could possibly help her out.
I'm calling as that chef.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Hey, let's get this phone party starting.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
We had enough of your pranks.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
This ends now and.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Action.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Hello.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Hello, I am looking for Charlene.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
This is she.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Hello.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
My name is Jean Luke, Chef Jean Luke. I'm calling
as a favorite to Peggy. Peggy tells me you might
need some assistance in cooking Thanksgiving dinner.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Oh okay, yeah, that actually that would be really great.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Well, I am a trained chef with the masta's degree
in z Culinary Arts, and I'm here to help you.
Why don't we start? Do you have a minute?

Speaker 3 (01:00):
I have plenty of time yet.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Let's start with Z appetizer. Let me recommend, and this
is very easy. Let me recommend the celery boats with
the pimento cheese filler. You simply cut up Z celery
into two to three inch pieces and zin fill them
with the pimento cheese. Do you have any questions?

Speaker 3 (01:22):
I don't think so.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
Okay, well let's talk about turkey. Do you have any questions?

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Yes, I absolutely have questions. I'm not sure. I mean,
how how big do I buy? How long does it
take to defrost? How long is it going to take
me to cook?

Speaker 1 (01:39):
There is no need to put ze frosting on the turkey.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Za frosting is for the dessert.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
I think you misunderstood me. I just I just need
to know how long it takes to defrost.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Oh, okay, defrosting turkey is not necessary. When you put
the turkey into the the heat will defrost the turkey.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
I mean, I I don't really cook a whole lot,
but I'm pretty sure that. Are you sure about that?

Speaker 2 (02:12):
You must trust Chef Jean Luke.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Now, to prepare the turkey, I would recommend placing the
bird on a roasting pan and then cover the turkey
with the salt, black pepper, garlic, powder, paprika, and just
a hint of zipimento cheese. And then you will add
half cup of the chicken breast broth. The chicken broth

(02:36):
okay for the stuffing of the turkey. I recommend the
popcorn stuffing. You simply take all the insides of the
turkey out and then you place popping kernels of corn
inside the butt cavity of the turkey with just a
hint of the pimento cheese.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
It is so wonderful as the flavor is divine.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Hey, I'm kind of I would like to go more traditional.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
Oh okay, Chef Jean Luke can go to a traditional
if you would like. I will email you my famous
recipe for it, the green bean and pimento cheese casserole,
of course, made with green beans and z pimento cheese.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
Okay, you see really hung up on this pimento cheese.
Where exactly are you a chef at? I don't I'm
not sure we're on the same lines here. Where do
you work at?

Speaker 1 (03:27):
I'm a chef and it's a very famous restaurant called
is a waffle house?

Speaker 3 (03:32):
Oh my god, are you kidding what? I don't. I
really don't have time for this. I really got to
figure this stuff out.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Charlene, Charlene, actually your mother in law, Peggy, set you up.
This is Moe, Sally and Curtis calling from Cool one
oh five to five. This is the birthday prank call,
and we're just calling to say happy birthday. Oh my god,
and I have prepared birthday cake for you with pimento cheese.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
Right right, Oh my god. I'm not gonna lie. She
got me on this one. I think she was really
playing the fact that she knows I'm not not very
good in the kitchen and I'm totally stressing this Thanksgiving.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
You'll be fine, You'll be just fine. Just don't take
any of my advice.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
