Speaker 1 (00:00):
To night. Michael Brown joins me here, the former FEMA
director of talk show host Michael Brown.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Brownie, no, Brownie, You're doing a heck of a job.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
The weekend with Michael Brown broadcasting life from Denver, Colorado.
It's the weekend of Michael Brown. Glad to have you
joining the program today. Rules of engagement pretty easy. If
you want to tell me anything, ask me anything, do
that through the text line. The text line number on
your message app is three three one zero three, keyword
Michael Michael three three one zero three, follow me on

(00:27):
X at Michael Brown USA. And then if you like
what we do on the weekend, I think you'd like
what we do during the weekday. And if you'd like
to listen to me during the weekday, it's real easy
to do. I broadcast from nine to noon Mountain time
nine to noon mountain time. So on your iHeart app
you can still search for the situation with Michael Brown,

(00:48):
the Situation with Michael Brown, or you can look for
this station KOWA that's at eight fifty AM, eight five
zero am or ninety four to one FM eight fifth
ninety four point one FM KOA. So listen to me
during the weekday too, and we'll have fun during the weekday. Also,

(01:10):
so the Marxists that are running Chicago. But that matter.
By extension, I suppose Illinois are really hostile to the
rest of the country because they emphasize siding with criminal
foreign invaders against federal law enforcement. There was a I
don't have these details in front of me right now,

(01:33):
but walking the dogs this morning, there's a story about
and I think it was in Texas, but I may
be wrong. It doesn't matter where it is. But they
had arrested dozens of child predators. These are people who
have molested sexually molested children and they're in the country illegally,

(01:58):
so I and I forget what the number was, eighteen
or thirty eight, but it was some. It was whatever
the number is. It was too big, and there were
crowds cheering and screaming and hooting and hollering and rioting
and protesting to get them released. What is wrong with us?

(02:19):
What is wrong? Now? I get that we all screamed
and hollered that we wanted deportations, so now we're getting deportations. Well,
sometimes that's ugly, just as you know, if if you
I don't know, is this is the show cop still

(02:40):
on TV. I don't know, but you know there are
always these reality TV programs about uh, there was the
there was the guy on on NBC. I think for
a while that would they would they would attract some
predator to a teenage girl's home and then this guy
would walk out and he would confront the person, the

(03:04):
adult male who was there to hook up with some
teenage girl, some underage teenage girl. Not always pretty, pretty ugly.
Then you'd have the cops shows where they would arrest
a drunk driver, they might be chasing somebody with a
felony want for murder or rape or something, and the
cops have to tackle them and take them down. Or
they might be a shootout by result of a taxpayer

(03:27):
relief shop because somebody shot back at the cops. It's
not always a law enforcement is not always pretty. So
when we ask for deportations, we should have known it
wasn't always going to be pretty. But really, you're going
to cheer on the release for child molesters, you're really sick.

(03:47):
I know it's not you, but the people that were
doing it on the story I was listening to this
morning are really sick. And I know that when you're
doing Look, pick your number. I really don't give an
asked what number you pick? Are there ten million illegal
aliens in this country? Are there? Twenty million? Are there
thirty million? Are there forty million? I don't know, and

(04:11):
I'm telling you you don't know either. Whatever number you pick,
I can find a countervailing number. But the number's huge.
And if they've come into the country once, that's a misdemeanor.
If you've gone out and come back again, that's a felony.
That's that's under the Immigration and Naturalization Act. So these

(04:31):
are criminals and they need to be deported. And if
you're doing a sweep, if you've identified an apartment complex,
you've identified a home depot, parking lot, you've identified you know,
a restaurant, whatever it is, a landscaping company, pick what,
I just don't care. Pick whatever you want to pick,

(04:54):
and you go in and sweep. It's like if they're
going to do a raid on a business or raid
on a home, there may be innocent people there, but
the cops don't know who the the people are that
are subject to arrest versus those that they don't know
are subject to arrest until they finish the sweep, they

(05:17):
get everybody gathered. Now, I wouldn't want to be one
of these. Don't get me wrong, I don't. I'm not
asking for this to happen to me, and I don't
want it to happen to you. But in the real world,
this is what happens. They raid a drug dealer's house,
and the drug dealers, you know, he's a pimp, and
he's got all of his girls there, and some of

(05:39):
the girls are completely innocent, never done anything, and they
get swept up in the raid, and so they get
handcuff they get put back in the back of a
patrol car there and they're temporarily detained. They may even
be taken to the police station until they can affirmively
identify them. Oh, you're not a suspect that we want,
so now you're free to go. That might be thirty minutes,

(05:59):
it might be three hours, it might be twenty four hours.
But that's what happens. That's why you shouldn't hang around
with criminals because you might get swept up in it.
So now we're seeing that and people are screaming and protesting,
and in addition to screaming and protesting, the cabal steps
in and they amplify it, and they amplify it so

(06:22):
that you think it's absolutely horrific. We're sweeping innocent people
up and people are being held and oh my gosh,
we got to stop this. Wait a minute, this is
what we wanted. Raise your hand. This is what I
voted for. This is exactly what I voted for. And
I knew that when it started to occur there would
be backlash. People would be like, oh, well, wait a minute,

(06:43):
you know you mean people are actually gonna get arrested. Well,
what did you think was going to happen? They're criminals,
they violated federal law, and yes, if you're going to
deport them, you have to detain them, arrest them and
haul them off somewhere to detain, to put them in
a detention center and tell you you can sort everybody
out and then start deporting them, start the deportation proceedings.

(07:04):
And many already have deportation orders and those should be
subject to immediate deportation. But oh, we're afraid to do that.
I mean, it's just insane what we're doing. Back to Chicago.
The Mayor of Chicago, Brandon Johnson, This again south of
Ald Marxist. He makes his allegiance more obvious than ever

(07:27):
because he pleas with America's globalist adversaries in the United
Nations to take action against us. When you start going,
remember the United Nations is nothing more than it's on
the East River in Manhattan, in Lower Manhattan. What it is.

(07:49):
You've seen. It's an iconic building in Manhattan. You go inside,
you stepped into the barroom scene from the original Star Wars.
That's what it is is, that's what it looks like.
And it's made up predominantly of countries that hate us.
And they put the countries that hate us, they're the

(08:09):
worst human rights violators on the Human Rights Commission, and
then they attack us. And then people like Brandon Johnson,
who really doesn't like America. I really don't believe that
he likes the United States, particularly as a constitutional republic.
He'd rather see us as some sort of socialist utopia
or a Marxist utopia. He runs to the United Nations

(08:32):
and he calls on them to intervene into this country.
You can't make this stuff up. In fact, I'll prove
my point next this weekend with Michael Brown. If you
want to follow me, on X It's at Michael Brown USA.
Text lines always open three three one zero three, be
right back. Welcome back to the Weekend with Michael Brown.

(09:02):
Glad to have you with me. Don't forget to subscribe
to our podcast. On your podcast app, search for the
Situation with Michael Brown, The Situation with Michael Brown. Once
you find that, hit that subscribe button, leave a five
star review to help us with the algorithm, and then
you'll get all five days of the weekday program plus
the weekend program and follow me on X that Michael
Brown USA. So, yes, here's Brandon Johnson before the United

(09:25):
Nations Human Rights Council. Yes, the Star Wars bar scene.
I call on this Council to hold the federal government
of the United States to the same standards of accountability
you apply elsewhere in the world. No country should be
above international law. Human rights are universal or they are meaningless.

(09:47):
Chicago has long been part of this struggle. Is that
what's going on in the South side Chicago is that
is are human rights being protected by all the sh
shootings on the South Side. They'm just asking, he says,
I invite the United Nations independent experts to visit Chicago

(10:09):
to witness both our challenges and our progress firsthand, and
I urge the Human Rights Counsel to consider additional measures
of accountability, including a special session to examine the worsening
human rights crisis in the United States. Talk about window
dressing bull crap. Wait a minute, So you call on
the United Nations Human Rights Commission to visit Chicago. Can

(10:35):
I interpret that for you? Thank you? I invite the
Human Rights Commission to come to Chicago so I can
have a photo op. I invite you to come to
Chicago so we can hold a press conference together. I
invite you to come to Chicago, so maybe you know,
I can have a fancy dinner, take you all out
to a fancy dinner, and have the taxpayers pay for it,
and then you can go back home and we'll issue

(10:57):
some press releases and then we'll put that into a
campaign commercial when I run from a or again, that's
what it really means. And then I urge the Human
Rights Council to consider additional measures of accountability, including a
special session to examine the worsening Human Rights Council in
the United State human rights crisis in the United States.

(11:18):
May I interpret that for you? Again? Thank you. I'd
like for you get to hold a session in New
York because I'd like to fly at my Chicago tax
payer expense. I'd like a week trip to New York
so I could attend. You know, we could have well,
we could have a special session, we could have a
breakout session. We could have some special sessions. We could

(11:40):
have some committee meetings, and we can have some press conferences.
We could have some television appearances. Maybe I could go
in one of the morning news shows. I could go
on the cable shows. It'd be great for me. So
let's have a special session. Can we do that too?
What a what a load of craft this is? Now?
You know that the Democrats, i e. The Marxists, You

(12:03):
know they can count on the United Nations support in
their efforts because they want to displace the American population
with vast hordes of invaders from the Third World. Oh,
you don't believe me. Beyond the operation of liberal non
government organizations, the United Nations has been one of the

(12:24):
most prominent forces behind propaganda and funding for migrant caravans
seeking to invade the United States. UN agencies like the
International Organization for Migration and the UN Refugee agency provide
humanitarian aid, including cash assistance, debit cards, shelter, food, and

(12:49):
transportation assistance to migrants in countries from South America to
the US border. Yeah, and this is who you're calling
upon to investigate our efforts to get those very same
people out of the country. Listen along with all twelve

(13:12):
of the MSNBC viewers as Chicago's Black Lives Matter mayor
proclaims that he is defending humanity. Well, I'll let you
figure out from whom.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
Be very clear about what's at stake, and in order
for our country to be a place of promise and
hope and opportunity for people around the globe who have
called the city of Chicago their home. It's why we're
so committed to ensuring that we're protecting our democracy and
defending humanity. What this president has instigated and what he

(13:46):
has escalated is absolutely an egregious attempt to have complete
control over all of our cities.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
Wow, Trump wants complete control over all of our cities.
How do you go from you want to simply enforce
federal immigration law, which is not a part of the
jurisdiction of any municipality in this state. And you're a

(14:15):
sanctuary city and a sanctuary state Chicago, Illinois, and you
are defying federal law. So now you want the United
Nations to come in and start to stop the federal
government from enforcing the very laws that you and I
voted for. I just want to make sure you understand
that it's crazy. It's total crazy. Moving on. The wife

(14:41):
of our historic first half black, half white president will
never forgive white people for handing her fame and fortune
on an affirmative action basis. Michelle Obama still festers with hostility,
even accusing Caucasians of oppressing her hair. Yes, we are

(15:05):
oppressing Michelle Obama's hair. Can't make this up. According to
the Daily Caller, Michelle Obama said she felt obligated to
keep her hair straight during her tenure in the White House.
In a conversation she had with actress Tracy Ellis Ross,
she blamed white people for the exhausting beauty standards that

(15:29):
she felt she had to upkeep while she was in
the spotlight.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
Um.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
I don't think anybody forced you to do your hair
one way or another, but you need to be educated,
she said, Let me explain something to white people. Wow,
that's pretty degrading. That's pretty racist, isn't it. Let me
explain something to white people, says the black woman. Okay,
well I'm listening. Quote. Air comes out of our head

(16:01):
naturally in a curly pattern. So when we're straightening it
to follow your beauty standards, we are trapped by the
straightness when we're straightening it to follow your beauty standards. Well,
has she ever looked at ebony? Has she ever looked
at any movie or series streaming on TELEVI I don't

(16:24):
see anybody, and I don't where's the beauty cops? Where
the beauty cops? Oh? And because of white's, blacks apparently
can't swim or go to the gym. Really, and we
run away from the water. This is Michelle Obama. We
run away from the water. People won't go to the

(16:44):
gym because we're trying to keep our hair straight. For y'all,
it is exhausting, and it's so expensive, and it takes
up so much time. And then she went on to
suggest there was in the best interest of white people
to allow black women to abandon these alleged beauty expectations. Okay,
well guess what. You have my permission, Michelle, you can
go do whatever you want with your hair. I'm not

(17:05):
going to stop you. No, you can do whatever you
want to and that's fine. Oh hang on.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
Worry about it.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
Let me explain something to white people.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
Our hair comes out of our head naturally in a
curly pattern. So when we're straightening it to follow your
beauty standards, we are.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
Trapped by the straightness.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
That's why so many of us.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
Can you what's interesting or hair straight in this video.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
Can't swim and we run away from the water. People
won't go to the gym because.

Speaker 3 (17:41):
We're trying to keep our hair straight for y'all.

Speaker 1 (17:45):
Well, thank you, frankly, Frankly, my dear, I don't give
a damn. I'll be right back tonight. Michael Brown joins
me here former FEMA director, talk show host Michael Brown. Brownie, no, Brownie,
You're doing a heck of a job The Weekend with

(18:06):
Michael Brown. Welcome back to the Weekend with Michael Brown.
Glad to have you with me. I appreciate you tuning in.
Text line is always open three three ones zero three

on except Michael Brown USA, and don't forget subscribe to
the podcast on your podcast app. Search for the situation

(18:27):
when you find it. The Situation with Michael Brown, get subscribed,
neave a five star review. You'd help us with the algorithm,
and then you'll have all five days of the weekday
program plus the weekend program. Now, I'm not a coffee drinker.
Love the aroma of coffee, but I've just never been
a big coffee drinker. So I don't know a lot
about Starbucks, you know, Bronde Vente, I don't. I don't know.

(18:49):
I'm I'm culturally ignorant of Starbucks, except I do know
that Starbucks has gone way out of its way to
position themselves as a woke company. They lobby very, very
strenuously for DOCTA, for the Dreamers program. They promised at

(19:14):
one time to hire ten thousand refugees. They pledged one
hundred million dollars to the Black Lives Matter cause, and
of course they pushed LGBT themed usable cups. They pay
for sex change procedures for their employees, and they help
their employees to get abortions, and it just goes on
and on and on. Starbucks branding often emphasizes ethical sourcing, sustainability, inclusivity,

(19:43):
and of course that resonates with liberal consumers and it
reinforces their image as a progressive corporation. So when you
do all of that, don't you expect that the progressive
Marxists that consume your coffee would be all for you
and they would look at all of that good and say, oh,
what a wonderful place. No, you see what happens. No

(20:08):
matter how much virtue signaling you do, whether it's real
or perceived, or it's fake or imaginary, whatever, doesn't make
any difference. The reward is bestowed upon Starbucks by the
new face of leftism or Marxism in this country is
exactly what history has taught us to expect. Zoefram or

(20:32):
maybe zoloft. Mom Donnie says he's boycotting Starbucks until they
pay their employees more. Now ask a socialist Minshevik what
happens to the leftist leftist who don't quite manage to
keep up with the extremism of the vanguard. Oh wait,
you can't because the Bolsheviks shot them all. So I

(20:54):
don't know. Maybe mom Donnie's going to create communist coffee
shops to go with his communist grocery stores. It's insane,
utterly insane. And by the way, it's he's not getting backlash. No,
it seems that instead Governor Kathy Hokeel, the Democrat of

(21:15):
New York, is now considering a massive tax increase on
New York corporations. Why now because she used to pay
for the far left socialist agenda of Zofrawm. So, following
Mom Donnie's victory in the New York Cities, may Or
Erase Holcal pledge not to raise taxes on the state's
high earners. But now she's considering a hike in the

(21:41):
state corporate income tax instead. Now you know, we know
that corporations don't pay the state corporate income tax. When
a corporation based in New York realizes that they're tax rate,
just pick a number out of your butt. I don't
care is going to go from ten percent to fifteen percent,

(22:02):
eight percent, It doesn't make any difference what it is.
What do they do? They're going to correspondingly increase the
cost of the goods or the services that they provide
to cover their new tax rate. And so whoever engages
those services, buys those products in the price they pay

(22:25):
for that service or product will pay the new state
tax rate. So all of the consumers in New York
are the ones that are gonna pay it, including those
that she promised not to impose an income tax hikon
the state's high earners. They're gonna pay it anyway. So
all the muggety MUCKs in New York City that you

(22:46):
know went to pledge fealty to Zoefram and hate all
met with him, including Jamie Diamond from JP Morgan Chase.
They all met with him, you know, trying to get
you know. Oh, Kathy Hockel steps in and says, sex
to be you, doesn't it now. Notably, the corporate tax
increase under consideration would primarily serve as a means to

(23:09):
alleviate a more than four billion dollar budget deficit that
New York State is estimated to face in the coming
fiscal year four billion dollars. Now, Hucals administration believes the
hike could also be used as a pay for to
cover some of Mom Donnie's radical policy ideas, including the

(23:32):
aforementioned you know, city owned grocery stores, a rent freeze,
expansion of housing, free city buses, free childcare and all
of the other far left proposals. Now, her budget director
is insisting that the tax increases are well, that's the
last thing on her mind, and contends that the state
is in a good spot financially. Really, you have a

(23:55):
four billion dollar budget hole coming up, and you're in
a good spot financial. Hey, honey, how's the budget next year? Well,
you know, we've been living on about fifty grand and
we're only going to make about thirty five grand. But
we're we're in a good spot financially. How's that. How's that? Well,
we're just gonna imagine we got a credit card. Yeah,
well you've got a credit card. We got an American

(24:18):
Express Black card or a Platinum or whatever it is. Now,
we got an American Express card. There's no spending limits.
We're just going to use that. When you put in
those terms, it's pretty insane, isn't it. Those are the
rumblings that come from Albany, that you know, suggested New
York's top democrat. I think she's probably gonna reverse course.

(24:39):
In lighten mom Donnie's meteoric rise. Within the party. They're
all now sucking up to Zeu. Friend. This precarious fiscal
situation has been forecasted for the state for some time
now could prove too much for his socialist agenda. Kiss Already,
New York State has seen federal cuts enacted by the

(25:01):
Trump administration because the White House wants to slash government waste, fraud,
and spending. I'd say New York from my listeners in
New York. Sorry, sucks to be you, but yeah, they
had to do that. Look, don't don't get me wrong.
I'm not picking on you. They had to do it
to Colorado too. In fact, they had to do it
across the board, Red states or blue states, I don't

(25:22):
care anyway. In early October, the Trump administration cut about
eighteen billion dollars in infrastructure funding to New York City
over concerns that it was going to be that those
projects were going to be subjected to DEI constraints by
the city officials, and Trump's previously threatened to cut federal
funding to New York if Mandami were elected and citing

(25:46):
his far left policies, and then following Mamdanni's victory, Trump
remarked that he would speak with the oncoming ink with
the incoming mayor and will help him a little bit. Maybe,
mister President, stop it, just stop it. You're never going

(26:07):
to win New York City. I know it's your city.
I know you grew up there, I know you've developed there,
I know you've done. But you're not going to win
New York. Don't help them now. Uncle's facing up. I
think a pretty strong challenge from Congresswoman at least Stefani
in twenty twenty six. The current polling showing the two

(26:29):
neck and neck, which is not good for an incumbent.
Mom Donnie's term begins in January one, and we'll see
where it goes. But I just I don't see how
that they can continue to do what they're doing and
get by with it. Every time of state has a

(26:49):
budget hole, what do they do? They turn to the
Feds and they ask the Feds, hey, can you step
in Seatl's newly Octi Mayor Canny will if you think
that Mom Donnie was bad, take a listen.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
There is an awful lot that I want to accomplish
as mayor. I want everyone in this great city of
ours to have a roof over their head. I want
universal childcare, free K through eight, summer care.

Speaker 1 (27:20):
She went your kids twelve months out of the year. Yeah,
in government run facilities.

Speaker 3 (27:27):
I want we're a class mass transit. I want great,
safe public spaces where kids can run around with abandon.
I want stable, affordable housing for renters. I want social housing.
I want what much more land social housing?

Speaker 1 (27:44):
Do you have social housing? What does that means? I
mean how you just come over and sleep in the
extra bedroom anytime I went to what the hell is?
Social housing?

Speaker 3 (27:53):
And wealth to be owned and sewarded by communities instead
of corporations.

Speaker 1 (27:58):
Expect that, well up, that's pretty good. Good.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
Wealth to be owned and stewarded by communities instead of corporations.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
I want wealth to be stewarded by communities instead of corporations.

Speaker 3 (28:08):
A robust economy with thriving small businesses, great living wage jobs,
and strong rights for workers. I want a city where
everyone has the basics of a dignified life, including healthy food,
access to healthcare, and supportive communities. I want a city
where your health and your life expectancy, and your children's
future doesn't depend on your zip code or your race.

(28:32):
I believe that I will be stepping into office with
a strong mandate to pursue this vision. I believe it
is notable that all of that money focused on attacking me,
but not my vision or platform. And that is because
this vision and platform are supported by an overwhelming majority
of Seattle residents, as demonstrated by the resounding victories of
the other progressive candidates running for office in Seattle this year.

Speaker 1 (28:55):
So I say go for it. I mean a very,
very sincerely, I say go for it. Sweethearter, you I
want you and Seattle. I look, I love Seattle. Seattle
is a beautiful place and I enjoy visiting. I've been
there a lot. I say, go for it. Prove to
us just how stupid these ideas are. I'll be right back. Hey,

(29:27):
welcome back to the Weekend with Michael Brown. Glad to
have you with me. I appreciate you tuning in. It's
always wonderful to come in on Saturday and do this
program because this is such a great audience, and I
appreciate everything you do in terms of the text line,
podcast listening, streaming, and listening to us during the weekday.
It really is great. And I want you to know
how much I appreciate you spending some time with me

(29:50):
on the weekend. So let's go back to Seattle for
a moment, because this is insanity. You understand just how
insane this is. Right, go through and listen again to
the litany of things that she wants to do. Now,
this is a woman who has no government experience. She

(30:12):
has no private sector experience. I think she painted boats
for a while or something. She went to Oxford but
dropped out. She lives based on income from her parents
at the age of forty, so she's the stereotypical leftist.
I can't even say that she's a college grad because
she dropped out of Oxford. I'm not sure she was

(30:34):
admitted to Oxford. I'm not really sure she ever actually went.
She has a Marxist professor for a father. I'm not
quite sure what her mother does. I honestly don't care.
And now she's the mayor of one of the city's
largest cities and she has no experience whatsoever in managing
or running anything. But I want you to listen to
this list of this litany, if you will, of things

(30:58):
that she wants to do, because it's all about redistribution
of wealth. That's what it all boils down to. But
I want you to put on somebody else's ears. I
want you to take your ears off, and I know
some of you might be hard to do. Take your
ears off and go back to the very beginning of
the program, and I gave you the polling numbers about

(31:20):
young people who have a what was it, forty four
percent I think favorable view of socialism. It was in
some cases it was upwards of fifty percent. I want
you to listen with their ears because you cannot tackle
this issue of this tyranny of socialism and Marxism that

(31:42):
is just enveloping this country unless you are able to
put yourself in the shoes of young kids who are
struggling to find a job meaning in life. They've not
been taught anything about how this country operates. They have
zero economics, zero economic understanding of how an economy works.

(32:05):
Why I forget what was on the news last night.
My wife and I were driving back from dinner and
she just out of nowhere. I wasn't really listening to
the news. I was thinking about something, and she said,
people are just ignorant about economics. And I looked at
her and said, yes, are you just now discovering this?
So I want you to listen to this again, but

(32:28):
from the point of view of somebody half your age,
five years younger. You know, I don't care, but somebody
who thinks like those people who look upon socialism or
Marxism as something wonderful and then explain it to me.

Speaker 3 (32:46):
There is an awful lot that I want to accomplish
as mayor. I want everyone in this great city of
ours to have a roof over their head. I want,
you know stuff.

Speaker 1 (32:56):
I'd like for everybody to have a roof over their
head too. I don't like to see homeless be I like,
I don't like to see people who've lost their job
and they're sleeping in their car. I had a coworker
in that position one time. So it was gonna turn
really cold, and she was sleeping in her car and
she had her dog with her. So I so, you know,
I arranged to make sure she had a place to
stay for a couple of nights. I didn't do anything

(33:18):
other than just try to help for a couple of nights.
But I took that upon myself. I'm not bragging about it.
I'm just saying I think that's what we should all
be doing. But she wants everybody to have a roof
over their head. Well, yes, we all do. But sometimes
people don't want roofs over their roofs over their head.
Sometimes they don't want to be housed. Sometimes they want

(33:40):
they make a choice. And if if we're going to
provide a roof for everybody that wants one, who pays
for that?

Speaker 3 (33:50):
Universal childcare freaking universal childcare?

Speaker 1 (33:54):
Wow, regardless of your income, regardless of your station in life,
Universal childcare.

Speaker 3 (34:00):
Wait, summer care, summer care.

Speaker 1 (34:02):
Oh, you're round, You're round.

Speaker 3 (34:03):
I want word class mass transit, real.

Speaker 1 (34:07):
Real class man mass transit. Okay, we're world world class
mass transit. Have you seen some of the mass transit
in some places of the world, sweethear, because I don't
think you have.

Speaker 3 (34:20):
I want great, safe, public spaces where kids can run
around with abandon.

Speaker 1 (34:25):
So she's gonna eliminade crying, I guess I want some moment.
Or maybe she's gonna surround all these parks and open
spaces with cops. But I thought she was against the cops.
So we're just gonna live in.

Speaker 3 (34:34):
A utopia able affordable housing for renters. I want social housing.

Speaker 1 (34:40):
Cabrini Green, or we're gonna build another Chicago Cabrini Green.
Is that what we're going to do, or I forget
the one in Saint Louis, or was one in Saint
Louis too? Is that what it is?

Speaker 2 (34:51):
Just?

Speaker 1 (34:52):
Or maybe she's never been to the to Russia because
in Russia you can still see the old Soviet block
housing that was there, that built, you know, built for
all of the worker bees to live in. What a
load of crab.

Speaker 3 (35:06):
I want what much more land and wealth to be
owned and stewarded by communities instead of corporations.

Speaker 1 (35:12):
M elimination and private property that always goes over very well,
that's a pure malice point of view.

Speaker 3 (35:18):
I want a robust economy with.

Speaker 1 (35:20):
Threat I do too, And you're just everything you've just
said in the first what we'll be looking at in
the first thirty two seconds. Everything that you've just said
would destroy a robust economy.

Speaker 3 (35:29):
I having small businesses, great living wage jobs and strong
rights for workers.

Speaker 1 (35:34):
Yeah, make it more unprofitable to start a business.

Speaker 3 (35:38):
I want a city where everyone has the basics of
a dignified life.

Speaker 1 (35:43):
What's that? The basics of a dignified.

Speaker 3 (35:47):
Life including healthy food, access to healthcare, and supportive communities.

Speaker 1 (35:51):
Hmm, and much surprice tag. So far as you might
get a calculator going you make every what this is
going to cost so far.

Speaker 3 (35:58):
I want a city where your health and your life
expectancy and your children's future doesn't depend on your zip
code or your race.

Speaker 1 (36:07):
That's easy, just literally zip codes.

Speaker 3 (36:10):
I believe that I will be stepping into office with
a strong mandate to pursue this vision. I believe it
is notable that all of that money focused on attacking me,
but not my vision or platform.

Speaker 1 (36:22):
Do you understand now as you listen to that why
socialism has become so attractive for so many young people,
Because they are economic illiterate, and some might just say stupid. Yes,
thanks for tuning in. I appreciate you joining the Weekend
with Michael Brown. I'll see you next weekend.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
