(01:53):
Sit back, relax, It's Crystal'sNightcap. Y'll check one flavor flavor in
the building for my girl, CrystalRosas you boys. Okay, starting off
the week last week, I'm tellingyou one of the craziest weeks of my
whole life because, like it is, fully, everything was crumbling down at

(02:15):
the same time my Aulitos and mymom are in to visit me from Lebe
area from California. They flew allthe way from San Francisco to New York
City, which was incredible. ButI also had such a heavy week because
I had Hella interviews. I justhad so much to do, and there
was a lot going on in theworld that we had to report on,

(02:37):
so I had to make sure thatI was on point for all that too.
Tuesday, I get an email fromone of our talent coaches here at
iHeartRadio and he goes, hey,Crystal, we haven't connected in a while.
Let's check in on your weekend shows. We're gonna have a demo check.
It's called an air check meeting whereyour managers they literally pull your talk
breaks from your shows, so everytime you talk, they all those they

(03:00):
compile it, and you sit downwith your managers and your bosses and you
go over them and you're like,Okay, this was good, this was
bad, this was good, thiswas bad. I have started doing air
checks since I started in radio, which was amazing. My BF Sena,
she lives in La now doing bigthings. She was the first one to
have me do an air check andshe was going over it, making sure,

(03:22):
Okay, this is you're talking toofast here, you need to enunciate
more, this that your contents, kind of lazy stuff like that. So
I've done a lot of air checkmeetings, especially in San Francisco. Maya
boss he was just so amazing andhe was always on top of it and
wanted to make sure that every weekor every two weeks we were doing air

(03:42):
checks so that I was getting betterand better and better. So by the
time that I was here in SanFrancisco, I was like, Okay,
confident about it. My boss herein San Francisco, he's hands off,
he trusts us, he's not micromanaging, He isn't texting me during my shift
saying this that. It's also veryvery nerve wracking when you're doing a shift

(04:03):
and they do your boss texts you, because now you're even more stressed about
making sure things are great. Butour bosses are really cool. I think
it maybe once or twice they have, but it wasn't even anything serious.
So I'm pretty confident in especially mylive shows, but on my weekend shows,
those are a lot of the timepre produced, so it just depends

(04:24):
on what I have going on iswhen I record them and get content together
and make sure that everything sounds goodon air. So I want to make
sure I have local content for allthose markets. I want to make sure
I'm hitting all the promotions like thegiveaways and whatever else they want us to
hit. And I want to makesure I have calls on so that it's
interactive with the local listeners. I'llread texts and things like that. But

(04:46):
the week and right before I gotthe email about having an air Trek meeting,
that was not my best work becausethe week prior was the week that
I have found out that exact weekI was going to be taking over my
afternoon shift all by myself, andI had to prepare for everything that my
family was going to be in town, and I was exhausted. So I
did a pretty bare minimum shift forme. It was just kind of quickly

(05:10):
talking in and out of songs.I didn't add too much bizzazz to it.
Not my best work. So whenI got this email that I was
going to have an error check meeting, I was like, oh my gosh.
Out of every single weekend possible inmy entire career, this was the
absolute worst air checks that any managerscould have pulled. So my heart immediately

(05:33):
sank to my stomach because honestly,I put a lot of work and effort
into everything I do, but especiallythe markets that I'm out of town because
I'm not physically there. I knowthat it's high stakes because when I'm doing
shows for markets that I don't livein, I want to put an extra
work to make it sound like I'mthere. I put an extra work to

(05:56):
keep those shifts, and I wantto make myself proud. I want to
make the company proud. I wantto make anyone that's hanging out with me
and listening for that shift happy. And so I just knew that because I
did a lot of the work atthe end of the week and I was
super exhausted. It was not atall my best work, and I was
so so frustrated and just like, dang out of every single week, are

(06:18):
you kidding me? Like they're gonnapull this air check? So he did
send the air check over. Hesent a five minute audio clip of a
show of mine, and I waslike, oh my god, oh my
god, oh my god, I'mfreaking out. This was right when I
went on air here live on Zeone hundred. So during commercials, I

(06:40):
run to the side studio and Istart playing it. I'm like, oh
my gosh, it's going to beso embarrassing. Like and not only that,
the talent coach also wanted my bosshere in New York to be on
it, and I was just like, bro, this is just he's usually
not on those meetings because it's likemy boss here in New York should be
worrying about my job here in NewYork instead of the other shifts that I
do. But for some reason, the talent coach wanted him on it as
well. I was like, dang, is this that bad that you want

(07:03):
my own boss on it too?Like, please pick any other shift other
than that weekend. Yes, thatweekend. It was just not it.
And I even knew while I wasdoing it that I was just really exhausted
because I wasn't prepared to take overmy afternoon show all week long. But
I did it and it was fine, and I went to the sites to

(07:24):
do I started listening to my aircheck and I was like, Yo,
this air check isn't even from thisweekend. This is like the weekend before,
or maybe even two weekends ago,and this show is awesome. Like
Christal, if I heard this,if I heard any of this content and
this radio jock on air, I'dbe like, cute, this sounds great,
exactly what my heart should be soundinglike on any station. So I

(07:46):
was so relieved. I don't knowhow or why or like Yoo is always
looking after me, God is alwayson my side, but I'm gonna have
that meaning this week, and I'mjust like, oh, thank goodness.
I mean, there's always stuff towork on, Like I am not perfect
to anything, and there's especially inradio, things are always evolving. We
get data data back from listeners thatthey want different things that they wanted just

(08:09):
even a year ago. So it'snot like I've been in this industry for
ten years and now my air checksare going to be perfect. Absolutely not.
There's always something to work on.There's always things to get better at
when it comes to our job.But I feel like I was prepared really
well. In San Francisco. Ihad one of the best and still have
one of the best directors over there, and now flipping over here to ZEE

(08:31):
one hundred in New York City,I have such a great creative boss that
whatever I need ideas for stuff hecan help us with that, and he
has such a repertort in his brainof the history of radio and things that
he's heard for over years that haveworked back in the day two that he
can pull from archives. So Ifeel like excited about this upcoming meeting because

(08:52):
I know that I feel like itwas a good show, but they're going
to hear stuff to make it evenbetter for me on my next shows.
So we definitely dodged a bullet. You know, everyone isn't always going to
have their best foot forward. Iwas thinking about that of what if they
did pool my last weekend air check, and I was going to try to
start off saying a whole bunch ofexcuses and all this and that. But

(09:13):
we're humans and you're not going tobe perfect every single time. That's what
living is about. I'm not goingto always have my best foot forward,
but I really do try because Ilove my job, I love being here.
I always want to be the bestthat I could be. But I
do have to give myself grace aswell, knowing like, hey, you're
gonna have those weeks where you're exhausted. You're gonna have those weeks where you're

(09:35):
just gonna kind of give your bareminimum, and honestly, like, I'm
sure if I even did pull thoseair checks and my bare minimum would still
be okay. I mean, itwouldn't be the worst. It's not like
I wasn't trying or putting zero effort. I was just doing my like base
efforts. So thank the Lord.I'm excited for this air check meeting this
week, probably tomorrow the day after. I'll keep you posted on it.

(09:56):
But yeah, I was like reallypetrified about that, but it's gonna be
all good. Now, what's goingon at home, because it's been me,
my mom, Sandramas that are stayingwith me, and my little cat
Frappi. Well it's actually Frappy's apartment, but yes, five of us are
staying in my mydroom apartment. I'mvery lucky that I have enough room for

(10:18):
them my living room. I havea pool out couch so we can have
two people there. Two people fiton my bed. My cat Frappi is
also on my bed, and ifwe need extra room ever, we have
a blow up mattress. So weare all set. Now. I make
sure that my door people tell mewhen they see my aulos and my mom

(10:39):
coming in from the taxi. Irun downstairs, I hide in the corner
and I scare my mom and it'samazing. She like literally almost went to
the bathroom on herself because oh Ilove scaring her. And there ain't no
way to bring her to New YorkCity then to scare her right off the
gate. So we do that.We walk up and I have I made
like little chocolate covered strawberries for them. I got flowers for them, so

(11:03):
it's all set up there. Ihad pizza New York Pizza, hot and
ready for them right when they goton the door, and I started playing
the Frank Sinatra New York, NewYork song. My I would us.
I've never been to New York.My mom has been here a few times,
but I was just so excited tomake sure that they are going to
have the best two weeks here possible. So they pull up and I'm so
happy to see them. We're kindof all settling in. I'm giving them

(11:26):
a tour of the apartment. They'rehanging out with Frappy for a little bit,
and then the next morning upon wantsto take a little dip in our
pool. I'm so lucky that Ihave a pool in my apartment. It's
an indoor pool, and I don'treally go in it too often. It's
like a little chlorine e for me. My eyes are really sensitive to chlorine,
and so sometimes I get a littleweird in there. But yeah,

(11:48):
so a ba goes into the pooland take a little dip. And I
bought. And I'm in my boyseventy seven, I's eighty one. And
they don't have the best knees. They don't have the best hit am.
I has arthurritis and scoliosisi lovers somuch. Yeah, I'm as like frailing
away and I buys. Knee haslike no liquid and arogel or something.

(12:11):
His knee is just be a tripled. He they are both walking around
in kanes, but I buy.Nonetheless, it wants to get into the
pool. It gets into the pool. This man is getting stuck in the
pool. He is up and stuckin the pool and cannot get out because
his knee isn't strong enough to getup the ladder. So what do we
do? We get him in thelittle ya heithel chair. He gets into

(12:33):
the little chair that's on the pool. Thing. Goodness, they have one
of those electric chairs and actually thisis not even electric. This is a
crank pool chair that he swims into. We kind of have to hoist him
up and then like crank it allthe way up. It is huh,
Larry years And I'm not like ageshaming here. I'm not elderly shaming.

(12:54):
I'm gonna be there one day too. It was just hellifunny to see.
And luckily he made it out alive, so I thought made it out of
the pool alive, hallelujah. Nowwhen we get towards a bedtime, it's
really fun because everyone's trying to figureout like they're routine, they're night routine,
right, And I'm trying to offeri'm Anapa my grandparents my bed because

(13:18):
obviously it's more comfortable than the poolout bed. But my bed is elevated.
It's it's a high bed, soI'm trying to see if i'm I
can reach the bed. We're tryingto get her up there, and she
cannot, and not only that, she's more afraid that she's gonna fall off
the bed, so I cannot reachand sleep on my bed. She and
Upa are gonna have to sleep onthe pool out. But the pullouts even
it's comfortable, so it's fine.So that's happening with that. Ama is

(13:43):
trying to find a place where shecan keep her teeth. Appa has his
own little nighttime routine as well. It's just like everyone's figuring out where their
towels are, where we're gonna hangthem, and then I'm I scared of
my cat Frappy. My mom alsohas nerves when it comes to my cat
Frappie. They're both afraid that Fraby'sgoing to attack them. Fraby's not going

(14:03):
to attack nobody. It's it's justan interesting situation, but we are making
it do. And then we wakeup and we all do breakfast together.
I make my smoothies. Even thoughlike we're not struggling. My grandparents come
from very humble beginnings. They cameto America, hustled so so much to

(14:26):
send my mom to private school inOakland, California, and my mom and
my dad have been able to makea really great life for me and my
family. So we are doing fine. We are doing fine, but they
still about amile. We're born aroundthe little after the Great Depression era,
so they still have their penny pinchinghabits. That doesn't really make sense to
me. For example, I liketo order cheeseburgers, Like what night we

(14:48):
were going to order cheeseburgers from downstairs. There's a burger place down where I
live. And pan them are like, no, no, we don't want
to add tomatoes and onions, Likewe have onions and tomatoes here. We
don't have to add it on thecheeseburgers. We can just add it here
when the food comes up. I'mlike, it's literally fifty cents. It's
okay, Like we can add lettuce, tomatoes and onions. We don't have

(15:09):
to grill them up here. Weare good. But they do things how
they like to do things. Theyare afraid to order food. They don't
want to eat out too much.I'm like, you, guys, we
are fine, Like we're not struggling. We got it, we got it,
got it. Okay, maybe we'restruggling back in the day, but
we are good and we are doingit, so it is all good.

(15:33):
Order what you want to order. You know, you don't have to squeeze
a lemon in water and make lemonadehere at home, like we can order
a lemonade' It's just interesting and they'renot used to that, but we're trying
to spoil them and make sure thatthey're living the best life they can here
in New York City because it's lookinglike they're probably never going to visit again.

(15:54):
They are super super old. Theycannot walk. They're not super super
old, but it's hard for themto walk around. Their minds are at
a thousand, but their bodies likeare fragile, you know, Like I
said, Emma has our three thieesand scoliosis up as knee. He's wobbling.
They are in canes like. Itis tough, but we are doing
what we got to do and we'regonna get them up and out in all

(16:15):
around town. So during the weekI couldn't do too much with them because
I'm usually up and out for workeight am to like seven eight pm.
But on the weekend I was ableto spend a Saturday and Sunday with them.
We got the passes to do thebig bus tours. My mom and
I have done different bus tours. We did like the big red bus,

(16:37):
but this time I got the topview bus and they're pretty similar. We
wanted to do the buses all aroundthe city, and then we also wanted
to do the Statue of Liberty tour, and Saturday, we got up extra
early, wobbled them to the busand we got on I'm on if I
were able to get all the wayup the stairs, and then we hit

(16:57):
downtown to the Statue of Liberty. We got on that amazing videos, amazing
photos of my Audita Ama. Imean, she's just so glam, so
cute, so everything. So wedid that, and then after the Statue
of Liberty we went to the Brooklyntour. We did like the night tour.
We went to Times Square. Wesaw all the kids that were doing

(17:18):
like drill dances in the middle ofTimes Square. I'm I was like,
whoa, this is crazy. Thatwas so fun. And instead of like
going out to eat, they wantedto pack lunches. So we were eating
like sandwiches and snacks. I'm like, you guys, we can have lunch
like we are fine. But thatwas Saturday. And then yesterday, which
was Sunday, we got up andwent to church. We went to Mass,

(17:42):
and of course I was leading hospitalityagain, which was a hit this
weekend. Let me say it's beenfluctuating like sometimes for hospitality, which is
tea, coffee, and snacks. After church, it will be like four
or five, six, seven people. This time they were like ten to
fifteen people. I'm telling you,we had three pots of coffee. It

(18:03):
was iconic. So more and morepeople are showing up. Abanama loved it
and they got to meet my littlechurch fam and it was all good vibes.
But obviously that my mom she wasfeeling super super sick, like cold
vibes. She said that her throatwas hurting and she was feeling really like
drowsy. So I told her torun to the emergency room next door.

(18:26):
That I've talked about this before, how I wish the Bay had these.
New York City has these emergency clinicsall around everywhere. Think of it like
many kaisers where you just walk inand can get prescription or get checked out
or whatever you need. So theyhave tons of these around the city.
They have one right next to thechurch. So I told her, I

(18:47):
was like, Mom, go rightnext door and give them your information and
they're going to give you medication prettymuch right away. So she was doing
that while we were doing hospitality atchurch, and then by the time that
we were out then she was alreadydone and got her prescription, so we
ran up to another tour because ourtour was like a two day tour,
so then we got to do theone uptown and we went all around Central

(19:08):
Park. I've never even been tothe top of Central Park before, which
is like one street, so itwas kind of cool seeing Central Park and
taking out of Amapa so they couldsee it too. Again, they can't
really walk much, so the bustours were really great because instead of them
walking around the city, they wereable to just see it from above and

(19:29):
sit down the whole time, sothat was great. And then it dropped
us off and I planned a littletea party for us, a really like
bougie fancy tea party at the BuccaraHotel. I saw it on Instagram.
I was like, this would beperfect for like a mom birthday because it
was my mom's birthday on Friday anda fun little like mother's pretty mother's day
vibe. So my am and Igot all dressed up. We had our

(19:52):
little French hats on and a littlepair of hats and me Apa and my
mom went to little tea party, which is so cute, little finger sandwiches
and caviare and lobster rolls and tea. It was such a vibe. It
was super super expensive. I wouldnot recommend, Like the bill was ridiculous.

(20:15):
I really only did it because myfamily was in town and I want
to celebrate. I'm on my mom'sbirthday and stuff. But even though it
was good, like the food itwas okay, you are still hungry,
Like it's if you are one ofthose like only for the Graham flexers,
I would say, sure, maybesplurge, but crazy expensive. I mean,

(20:41):
the vibe is cute, super supercute. The drinks are fifty dollars,
Like I'm telling you, the drinksare fifty dollars and I did not
get a drink. I just gotwe got like the prefixed little tea time
menu, but for what I payfor what we paid, like it was
just way too much money. SoI, like I said, would say,

(21:07):
if you are trying to flex forthe Graham, go and take a
lot of money, like yeah, make sure that you are funded. But
other than that, like you knowwhat I would even do. I would
go and just like take a look, ask for a sea, and just
get coffee because coffee alone is goingto be like thirty books. So but
it's so cute, Like the vibeis everything super hoti hoity, super fancy

(21:30):
schmancy, super bougie ougie, likeyou are dead ass in France, but
it's just super expensive for us,so I do. Yeah, just be
warned, be warned. I saw, like I said, I saw it
on Instagram. I saw the littlevip lists vadis do it, but once
in a lifetime never again. Cutethough, Like the sandwiches were good and

(21:52):
cute, but just not for whatI paid. Anyways, after that,
we took cute little pictures, littlevideos, and then we went back home
because I'm on walking, Like, even though they weren't walking around too much
going up and down those stairs ofthe buses and the little that we did
walked, they are tired and justexhausted. So we went back to the
house and I got a little workoutin and yeah, we called it a

(22:14):
night. So that was the weekwith the family, A little shriek at
work. And now I'm going toget into how the heck I interviewed Jalo.
Why don't we do this inside ofa crystals cave? Hello, who's
in here? It's so dark? You? What's dripping? Step on?
Something. You're now inside crystals.I touched Jlo. That's all I have

(22:42):
to say. No for all. This was crazy because it was a year
and a month ago that I foundout that I was going to be covering
the red carpet for the Netflix documentarycalled Halftime. It's pretty much Jalo's Netflix
documentary, And when I found thatout, I was like, Oh my
gosh, I'm gonna be in thesame room as Jlo. This is crazy.
So we went off and we gotthe little mimic jlo versaw. She

(23:04):
iconic green glow cut dress that mymother literally scolded me for. But it
was everything, and it was sofun and it was so amazing. Even
though I didn't even get to talkto Jalo on the red carpet because there
were just so many people, Idid see her and I did wave to
her, and she did look atme in the eyes because I screamed at
Jalo, I love you. Andwhen I did that, I was always

(23:26):
like, you know, maybe oneday, maybe one day, I will
interview Jalo, And that day freakinghappened last week. It was It was
so insane. So I found outthe beginning of the week, I got
a call from my sales director andhe's like, Crystal, I might need
your help. It has to dowith Jlo and you interviewing her. What
are you thinking? And I'm like, yes, So Jalo has a new

(23:48):
movie out Mother's Day Weekend this weekend. It's called The Mother and they wanted
I Heart Talent to interview her forso I was not first choice, all
right, for one hundred, Iwas not first choice. Danielle Minaro,
who is mic number two on ElvisDurana the ZE one hundred morning show.
Here on ZE one hundred, shewas first choice. And I actually didn't

(24:10):
even know that her and Jaela wentto high school together, like they are
homies, like they are, theyknow each other, they're cool. So
she was the first choice, butshe had a conflicting schedule so she couldn't
really do it, and so theyhad asked me to do it, and
then it turned out that she wasable to do it, so then they
were going to and boot me out. But then because Danielle is just like

(24:33):
seriously, this is a thing aboutDanielle Monaro and a lot of women in
the industry. She is just sosweet and on multiple occasions there have been
situations where people wanted Danielle and thenshe couldn't do it, and then they
said me, and then she wasable to do it. But then she
was like, no, I'm nottaking opportunities away from Crystel, and I'm
not going to take opportunity away fromanyone else. Danielle is always doing this,

(24:57):
which is just the most selfless, nicest, sweetest thing, Like she
does not owe me anything, shedoesn't owe anyone else anything, but because
she is just such a nice andsharing person, she really is one of
these people in the industry that isconstantly bringing other people and other women up.
When you think of people there arejust class acts and just want everyone

(25:21):
else to win and will put theirown needs aside for others. Like that
is literally Danielle. And I knowI know these things, not because she
tells me. Other people tell melike, oh yeah, I was in
the meeting in Danielle specifically said,if I'm going to take an opportunity away
from Crystal, I don't want todo it. She could totally do it,

(25:41):
and this is one of those andit was just so sweet of her
to sprinkle me some love because I'dnever had any of your Dayala before obviously,
and I thought this was going tobe a huge opportunity, and I
was going to be doing this withtwo other amazing women in the industry,
one being Katie Use Mornings Godardie nowBermudez, and also we have Billy and

(26:03):
Lisa in the Morning in Boston. She was flying down to do this interview
as well. It was like alittle roundtable situation with Jalo. So that's
what was happening and so cool.So we interviewed the director of the movie,
we interviewed the mail lead, andthen at the end we interviewed Jalo.
So I was freaking out. Iwas so so excited. I couldn't
believe it. Again, my hairmateand make up, everything ready for myself

(26:26):
and I pull up to the hoteland I'm not nervous, like I feel
like I've done a lot of thesebefore. I feel like I'm with two
other amazing women that we can justall bounce questions off of each other and
we're going to be fine. Weonly have fifteen minutes with Jalo. We're
not allowed to ask any ben Affleckquestions, which is like a but no,
Yeah, they want to keep itto the movie. That's what the

(26:47):
point of this interview is and Idon't have to touch on that too.
A lot of the times when wedo interviews and the interviews get posted,
sometimes we get the fans commenting saying, oh my gosh, ah, you
guys ask are the same questions? These questions are so boring. We want
to know this is that why areyou always asking the same questions. There

(27:07):
are a lot of the times wherewe cannot ask certain questions or we have
to get questions pre approved, sojuicy questions we do want to ask get
X from these interviews. So justknow that if you see there are interviewers
that kind of are asking vanilla orjust being a little too nice or whatever,

(27:29):
is because we can't always ask whatwe want to and we have to
get a lot of these questions preapproved. But there was no preapproval for
here. But we did know thatit was all about the movie. I
didn't I couldn't ask questions about ourfamily, couldn't ask questions about other projects.
It was just strictly about the movie. And also the talent knows that
too, So if they see thatwe're trying to fish other stuff or talk

(27:52):
about other things, they're going toquickly shut it down. And a lot
of the times these interviews are pretaped, they're not live, so if
the talent doesn't like something that weasked or want something cut out, they
will. In this case, likeI said, we knew we had to
keep it to the movie. We'rejust gonna talk about that. And we
only had a certain amount of time, so I wanted to make sure that

(28:17):
we shared time equally, that wegot what we needed in there. And
there has been rumors in the pastabout Jlo, some people maybe have not
said the nicest things about hers.All. Was got of nervous about how
it was gonna come through, becausewhen I saw her on the red carpet
for her halftime documentary premiere here inNew York, she was great, but

(28:37):
I could definitely see why people sometimescould say something. So Jlo came down
right, and I'm gonna say weweren't too too nervous. Karina has worked
with Jalo before, this is Lisa'sfirst time working with Jlo, but she
was completely professional. I mean, she's been an industry for a while as
well. And I didn't feel tootoo nervous either. Maybe a little bit.

(29:00):
You could even kind of tell inmy questions and stuff that you know,
I was just making sure that Iwas on top of it. But
what she comes in right, weall are getting miked up with the black
mics and they get they go clippedto our outfits and the guy's clipping up
j Loo's clip and she goes,oh, no, not for me.

(29:22):
I'll use the boom mic. Andhe goes, and we don't have a
boom mic. The boom mic isthat big long stick that has like the
furry like pom pom at the end. And he goes, we don't have
boom mics. And she goes, you don't have boom mics and he goes
no, and then the camera persongoes the shots too wide for a boom
mic. Jlo goes, y'all havenever worked in movies before. I've worked

(29:44):
in movies. And when then, like we didn't know if she was like
actually mad or like kidding, butyou know me, I laugh at everything.
So I just kind of started giggling. And it did kind of break
the ice in the room a littlebit when I started giggling. And then
she starts talking to us, andshe just starts saying, you know,
it's just because when you're doing pressruns all day, when I have to
get up and get my makeup retouched, and I when I have to get

(30:06):
up and go to the bathroom,I have to unplug and replug, and
it just takes a lot more time. And so when I request boom mics,
it's because just to make it morebetter and faster for these press runs.
And we're just like, oh,yeah, that makes sense, it
makes sense. And then she wasshe was fine, like she wasn't rude.
I could just kind of see that, I could see why that would
be annoying, Like this is jLow, this is a Plus list actress,

(30:32):
and if on her rider it saysI need boom mics because it makes
my life easier. Get the womana dank boom mike. I don't see,
you know, I don't I don'tfind that Braddy or diva like.
I just think, yeah, that'spractical for someone like her that's done hundreds
of these, you know. Butthat was like the only the only thing
in the beginning. But after thatI started talking to her a little bit.

(30:55):
How I was on the red carpetfor her halftime, and she was
like, oh, oh great, nice to see you. And you recognize
Godlie and she's like, yes,I've worked with you before. And then
we introduced Lisa to her and itwas great. I mean, she was
a good sport. She was reallygreat with her answers. I mean she
could just talk and it's all good. She looked amazing, she was really
sweet. We were nervous if shewas gonna be okay with taking a picture

(31:18):
at the end, and she wastotally fine. She wasn't trying to press
us for time and run in andnow, I mean, I'm telling you,
this situation with Jalo was great.I know other people might have their
own stories and people have their daysand things like that, but I feel
like she was very present. Sheis very sweet, and she really was

(31:40):
there for it. It didn't seemlike she didn't want to do this.
It felt like she was really proudof her work. We did get to
see the movie ahead of time.Netflix gave us a code to watch the
movie, and she did really reallygood. You know, for her being
an industry for the time that shehas been, for her being a mom
of two, she's been working onmusic. She has a lot going on

(32:02):
for her to take time to promotethis with us like, thank you so
much, Jalo. So here isour interview with Jalo. This is a
snippet. I just mostly pulled myquestions from it and as you hear,
like, my questions are simple. In the beginning, I just want to
make sure that she's happy and howshe feels about the movie coming out,

(32:22):
and then I ask her about heraction scenes, because she has crazy action
scenes. And then I ask herabout her production team. Her production company
called New Yor Weekend Productions was theproduction company that put on the movie.
So here is our interview with Jalofrom ZE one hundred. Here in New
York City, I am at Crystalwill sas Jalo, how are you wait?

(32:42):
Where were you from? I'm forOakland, Oakland, Boston, New
York now right right, okay, yes, and we all saw The Mother
Mother's Day Weekend Netflix. Yes,finally here after filming. How are you
feeling? I feel good. Youknow, it was a it was a
very kind of taxing movie. Ihad to like learn how to fight,
and there was, uh, youknow, a bunch of sniper training.

(33:06):
She's a very kind of like youknow, combat veteran who's like the best
sniper and you know, so youhave to kind of have all those behaviors
down and be really convincing and anduh so I'm excited to kind of see
it all together, you know, and come together and how that character kind
of manifests herself into this world. We've seen him do action before, but

(33:29):
not like this. Yeah, youare doing nice scenes. Yeah, the
mobiles. I love the nice things. What was your nils are favorite part?
I don't want to ask what unexpectedlywas your favorite action scene to be
part of? You know, Ilove I liked a lot of the action
stuff, putting together the gun,all all the different things that they had

(33:49):
me to. Some stuff didn't evenwind up in the movie that I had
to learn. And but I reallylike that fight at the end with Um,
with Joe Fines character who plays Adrianin the movie and who's quite a
sinister character, you know, Umand the two of us kind of being,
like I said, combat veterans andhaving all of this experience and really

(34:09):
being good fighters and really being goodyou know, shooters. But now they're
just like up close and they haveto kind of like battle it out to
the death. And that was thefirst fight choreographically that I had to learn
and I was just like, ohmy god, what am I gotta put
you down? But look you over, I'm believe like crushes of neck in

(34:32):
my leg. It was like,I don't know if I could do that,
and they're like, you can doit, come on, you could
do it. I was like, yes, I can, I can do
it. But it was it waschallenging, but it was a lot of
fun too, and it was justmade me have to kind of again tap
into a different personality side. I'mnot a fighter. I'm not somebody who
even likes confrontation much, you know, so I had to But I like

(34:58):
being strong. I do like that, and I like being physical. I
fancy myself an athlete, you know, in a lot of ways, and
so I could use that part ofmy strength to kind of get to the
fighter side of me. I dowant to ask, lastly, how important
it was for you to have yourproduction team and Eurecon production be part of

(35:20):
this incredible female led and directed movie. Yeah. I mean that's kind of
like our mission right is to kindof, you know, make sure that
we have women working on the productions. And this actually had a women director,
which I've had from my past fewfilms. And and that that that
that is a really important part ofit. And Neurecan Productions. You know,
this is probably our biggest action moviethat we've ever produced, and so

(35:43):
we're kind of into another one.Know, We've produced another one after that
called after That, which I justfinished called Atlas, and you know,
so it's it's it's growing, right, Like you have to kind of get
out of your comfort zone of yourlike musical movies and this and that and
romantic comedies into something that is biggerand more challenging and a little bit daunting

(36:04):
as well, right, and havingthat whole you know, Okay, this
is a huge budgeticus on your backand so well, what we like to
say is, yeah, but youknow that he was the thing. It's
like you're a I always think like, God, I should have gotten like
a lot of these roles with theseaction roles, because I just did two
action movies back to back, andI was like, I should have have

(36:28):
these roles when I was like inmy twenties. Now I'm not mad that
I'm getting them now. But it'sactually kind of really empowering and exciting to
be to be doing it, youknow, because it's not something that you
see every day, you know whatI mean, So that that part is
exciting. But I'm not gonna sayI didn't need to get like body work

(36:50):
done. Lopez, and we're goingto watch The Mother Mother's Day weekend.
Thank thank you so much. Thankyou guys, Thank you for everything you're
doing. Thank you or Latin usa woman everyone in the industry, and
we can't wait to share this beautifulway with everyone. Thank you so much.
I appreciate you guys. Thank youcrazy crazy. So you know,

(37:13):
those questions and answers, they're notgoing to be on like blogs and they're
not going to be pulled, youknow, into TMZ or whatever. But
again, this is just to promoteher movie. And the movie was really
good. I liked watching it.It's coming out this coming weekend, so
make sure you watch The Mother.Maybe one day I can have a sit
down with Jlo and it'll be justlike and we'll have to head conversation.

(37:37):
Maybe not, who knows. Butthat was my first interaction with Jalo.
It was amazing. She was reallysweet to us. So it was the
director her name is Nicky Carroll, and I also got to interview Amari Hardwick,
who is actually an actor on Power. If you've ever seen Power,
he is jalo sidekick in this movieThe Mother. He was amazing as well.

(37:58):
So all the good stuff, superexciting, like we are out here
doing things, and I am justso thankful to my heart and to Zee
one hundred, and to Danielle Manetaland to the other ladies Gardi, na
Bermudez, Lisa Donovan and of courseJlo and the entire team, like the
camera team, the mic crew, everyone. They were so great to work

(38:22):
with and super sweet on top ofit, and that was everything. So
after that we got to have lunchjust us, just the crew, and
then I got a text from myboss, ed ZE one hundred, asking
if I was at the station yetbecause the verdict for ed Shearon's trial was
coming out at any moment, andI Heeartradio wanted to come live to ZE

(38:42):
one hundred so that we could reportabout it. I was down the block
at the hotel, still having mylunch, enjoying myself. So I was
like, Okay, enough of this, gotta sprint, sprint my booty cheeks
to the studio. My boss islike, are you there yet? Are
you guys there yet? They're gonnago live to you. If not,
they're going to go live to LAAnd we're like, no, no,
we are here, We're gonna dothis. We got this. The trial

(39:05):
is here in New York City,so we should be the ones reporting about
it. Ed Sharon was in acopyright lawsuit by the family of Margan Gay
for their song Let's Get It Onbecause they think that Ed Sharon stoles the
song pretty much. And if EdSharon was found guilty, he had already
said he was going to quit music. So this is a big trial for

(39:27):
musicians and artists and one of thebiggest pop stars in the world, of
course. And it was local. So I sprinted my booty cheeks to the
studio and sure enough iHeartRadio went liveon every single iHeartRadio device to us,
to me and my partner, Sothat was pretty cool. That's never happened
to us before. That's never happenedto me before. I wasn't nervous because

(39:51):
I was just like, we're goingto keep it lighthearted. We are not
CNN, we're not reporting like hardnews. We're just gonna say what the
verdict said, and we're going togive our support to Ed Sharon because he
is a friend of all, nota homie, but we've worked with him
before, a familiar person to us. He gives a lot of love to
Zee one hundred and he's a greatmusician, so why flipp and not.
So we did that and it waskind of like, oh my god,

(40:13):
hectic, like one thing after anotherafter another after another, but ultimately it
went well. Our boss and ourCEO and everybody was listening because this was
huge for We've never done that withmy heart on my station, like especially
like me, like I've never beenin a situation where they're going to throw

(40:34):
the entire app listening commarderate to us. That's that's huge. So it all
went well, It all went smooth. We took some calls, we gave
some of our opinions. Like Isaid, we kept it lighthearted and not
too like serious because you know,we're a pop station and this shouldn't be
something like super serious or negative. This was good news because a trial went

(40:57):
in at Sharon's favor. That waswhile I mean, I felt like I
don't even know, I couldn't evenbelieve all that happened was happening. At
the same time, I was likegoing from interviewing j Loo and then rushing
to the studio to do some breakand new stuff for the entire iHeart Company.
It's just craziness. But that's justanother day, right. So then

(41:17):
while that is happening, I amfilling in for a It's like a show
that I Heart pull puts every nighton every single pop station and top forty
station. We call it HR.There is a nightly show that is giving
you all the new music. It'scalled the New hit List. And the
person that usually does that was onvacation, so I was filling in for

(41:40):
them, and there were some technicaldifficulties. So while all of this is
happening, while Etcher and while Jlois happening, I'm on these urgent emails
where engineering needs to come in andfix any issues that's going on with this
show that I've been doing in recording. So it literally felt like everything was
burning at the exact same time, but these were issues that I couldn't control,

(42:01):
Like I couldn't control that the verdictwas happening right after I or at
the exact time that I was interviewingj Lo, and then these technical difficulties
with the I think it's like Ithink it's like the over three hundred stations
that I was on this weekend lastweek, it was a lot. It
was a lot, but we didit. We survived. That was a

(42:23):
good old Thursday night and Friday Iwas able to record all my weekend shows
that we were all good. Andthen by Friday evening I was exhausted and
wanted to do nothing, which iswhat I did. I went home and
then Saturday and Sunday was when Idid all this weekend stuff with my alred
Ethos. But yeah, it wasone of the most hectic weeks so far.

(42:43):
I feel like this keeps kind ofhappening, which is kind of cool.
Nothing that I can't deal with,Like that is the good news is
that I have become very well atacclimating to high intensity pressure. Because when
the whole Edgeharon verdict was happening,I was like, it's okay, Like

(43:04):
all we have to do is literallyread what the verdict says and then give
a few opinions on it and justsay cool, at Sharon, we love
you, here's your song. Andsam with Jalo, Like when I was
interviewing Jalo, I was like,I've interviewed so many times I'm ready for
this. You know, it doesn'thave to be that serious. It's all
about the movie, so there's nothingcrazy, just movie focused questions. All

(43:25):
good and yeah we did the thing. Like every single thing that I have
been faced with, I feel likeI've prepared for it. I am prepared
and I am good. So nothingbad, all good stuff. This next
week is going to be chill.I don't have too much going on.
And then yeah, the week afterZadi's coming through, so we have all

(43:47):
good stuff coming up. So yeah, that was my week. If you
want to check the whole interview withJLO, by the way, it's on
our Zoo one hundred YouTube. Justgo on YouTube, type in ZE one
hundred Jennifer Lopez. It'll pop upthere. About Yeah. When I was
watching, I was like, thislooks so legit, Like I legit look
like an interview? What has happenedto? Who? What is life?
I really need to take a deepbreath and like take all this in.

(44:10):
So crazy to me, like goingfrom just stalking her on the red carpet
just trying to get a wave toactually sitting down with her and sharing air
so crazy. So make sure thatyou throw that tease and video love on
socials If you haven't yet, again, we're at Crystal's nightcap. I'm at
lack Crystal Rosas. Thank you soso much. Let's let's end the show

(44:30):
with some positive inspirational words quotes, things like that, we've been doing that
for the past few weeks and youguys are really liking it. This one
was called better Possibilities? What doyou want for your life? For all
of life? How can you besure that there's not something much much better?
Can you be seeking some particular thingsso single mindedly that you fail to

(44:52):
see other more desirable possibilities. Mightyou be sabotaging your own fulfillment by envisioning
fulfillment in a far too limited way. It's all well and good to get
what you desire, but perhaps it'seven better sometimes when you don't get what
you desire, When your path tofulfillment is blocked, you're forced to consider
other paths. That's not such abad thing. Surely there are possibilities you're

(45:15):
not aware of. Be careful notto let your obsession with just a few
possibilities blind you to all the others. Clarify your intentions, set your goals,
and go for them, but neverlet that stop you from being open
to everything else that is possible.Oh that's great. I love that.
What are some goals that you havethat you're setting for yourself? How are
you working to achieve those goals? For real, it's the everyday things.

(45:37):
It's the little step by step bystep by step. Last week we had
a reading about joy and I wasfeeling like a little a little stagnant.
I'm not gonna lie to you.I've been having a tough time adjusting to
some differences here in the pod. We're not doing the weekly weekly dates anymore.
I am getting together with my girland how we can get it going
with her, but that's been alittle difficult. So it's just been an

(45:59):
adjust man for me. And Iknow the pod has been different recently,
So just bear with me as we'retrying to figure it all out. I
know we still have amazing things thatI get to share, but sometimes I
do feel like, Okay, what'shappening, where's everything going? Not just
my pod but just with everything. But yeah, just keep at it,
keep trying to set those goals. If there are any obstacles, think of

(46:21):
new different ways that you can goaround them, and I always like to
say a no isn't a no.A no means how else can I get
it done? So hopefully we canall get what we want to get done.
It's together one way or another.Well, I love you so so
much, Thank you so much forall the love, all the support.
