Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're waking up with fifth in the morning, hun kiss one.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Good morning. If you've been consuming non stop Olympics at
your house and you've thought to yourself, you know what,
if given the proper training time and equipment, or if
my parents put me into this thing at three or
four years old, I might have been able to show
up at the Paris Games in twenty twenty four. You
know what, You're gonna be able to put your skills
to the test this weekend. Joining me this morning is Andrea,
(00:26):
who's the fitness coordinator of the Family Place also known
as Silver Lake in northern Kentucky, is hosting something called
the Splash and Dash this Saturday. Good morning, Andrea, good morning.
You couldn't have picked up the better time to put
together an event, because after two weeks worth of the Olympics,
as we gear up for the Pair Olympics as well,
(00:46):
this is the perfect time to put a little bit
of those skills to the tests. So Saturday morning at
eight am, it's called the Splash and Dash. Two hundred
and fifty meters in the pool, which is how many laps.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
It's gonna be five laps.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
In the you which is manageable. I see the five
labs in the Olympic sized pool is manageable.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
I guess out at about twenty five meters and then
I got a hold of wall.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Or something and the like where's the life jacket pretty much,
and then followed by the two hundred and fifty you'll
jump out of the pool and do a five K.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
That's right, So three point one miles for your five k,
just around the Erlanger community that we've got for you.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Okay, Like I said, this is happening Saturday at eight am.
All of the proceeds, of course, go to the Bridge
Adaptive program, which you are telling me is like, this
is really cool and provides families with so many things.
It's a great example of that.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
So the Bridge Adaptive they help those who have abilities
but they're needing some adaptive equipment. They help them find
their sport, They help to loan out the adaptive equipment
that they may need, and then they provide education, support
and development for that sport so that they don't have
to worry about these different barriers keeping them from participating
(02:04):
in either competitive or leisure activities.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
I like the fact that they want to help you
navigate your sport So what do you want to do?
You want to do something in the pool, do you
want to do something with basketball? You want to do
some tests like what do you want to do? And
then they also help the equipment so you don't have
to go and find.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
All this stuff right, yes, and then even just they'll
bring in some national experts as well to help provide training,
so you can go in with absolutely zero experience. But
as long as you just want to try the sport out,
go for it.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
So you if this doesn't affect someone in your own home,
it might affect someone in your inner circle. So if
your ears are perking up, great, I'm glad I caught you.
So this is the Splash and Dash. It's happening this Saturday.
If you have been non stop consuming Olympic content and
you want to put your skills to the test eight
am at Silver Lake, which is the family place in
(02:54):
northern Kentucky, you can come. You do two hundred and
fifty meters in the pool, followed by a five k
and all the proceeds go to that adaptive program. So
I think this will be a good time.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Oh, it's gonna be a great time. And then if
you're a little bit nervous about either the swim or
the five k. That's okay. You can choose to do
just one or the other.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Okay, Okay, okay. I you know, maybe I've watched too
many Olympics games and I'm like, I can do this.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
If they can do what I can do it. I've
been telling so many of my clients like, when I
watch the Olympics, I get this false sense that I
can do everything that they're doing. It's true.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Well that's Andrea, who's the fitness coordinator at silver Lake
the Family Place. I'll mention it one more time, just
in case you're catching the tail end of this. The
Splash and Dash is this Saturday at eight am. You
can run and swim or do either either or whatever
you want. It's up to you. It's happening at eight
o'clock this coming Saturday. Thank you, Andrea.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Yes, and then if I can just add up to
sign up, if you just go to our website Silverlakefamily

find the registration leak fifty dollars before race day or

Speaker 2 (04:08):
