Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're waking up with fifth in the morning time. Kiss,
let us have one? Am I a rich girl? Am
I gonna be rich? After this?
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Hi?
Speaker 3 (00:08):
I want to welcome everyone from Instagram Live who is
joining us from our kiss one oh seven page. Maybe
you already got a chance to see these Rolex watches
on my page as well. If you're a visual person,
you could check out either one. I stumbled across some
rolelexes when I was cleaning my dad's house out over
Labor Day weekend.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
You remember this.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
He's still alive, but I was helping him downsize and whatnot.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
And I found these watches.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
I said, are these worth anything? And then we're gonna
find out live today as we authenticate them on the
show this morning. David Cooper is the vice president of
Genesis Diamonds and a big sponsor of my show, and
I said to him, I said, David, I walked in
that store, I said, can you come on the air
and tell me that I'm rich?
Speaker 1 (00:52):
David, Good morning, Good morning.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
Genesis Diamonds on Montgomery Road, super easy to navigate, and
I knew going in there that you guys don't have
sales commissioned experts.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
So I was like I think this will be.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
I'm comfortable with going in this store, and so thank
you for bringing that same comfortable energy onto the show
this morning.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
My pleasure. I'm excited to be here and help you
out to find out if you are in fact going
to be a millionaire?
Speaker 1 (01:16):
Am I a rich? Scal on?
Speaker 3 (01:18):
Shortly, let's start off with the first watch, So for
those that are following live on Instagram, go ahead and
pick one that you want to start with.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
So, okay, this.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Is definitely special.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
I have not seen this model before in person. Okay,
off the bat, I'm going to tell you there's a
few things that pique my interest immediately.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
So firstly, on the top of the dial here where
it kind of is inset with the crystal of the crown.
Here the plating is wearing off, okay, okay, which is
an immediate tell tale sign for me.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Then when I look at the bracelet, the construction of
the brain, so it's nice, but it's a little inconsistent
in terms of the actual linkage on the bracelet, the
tension of the boat, the screws throughout it, and the
locking mechanism. Okay, So this is definitely a very unique piece.
I'm excited to see it, but unfortunately I cannot authenticate
(02:20):
this watch as being a real Rolex.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
Okay, so no rolling, no money on watch number one,
so farwards, oh for one. Now, when you do watches,
do you have people that come in quite a bit
and they say, hey, I found this similar to me,
I found this watch in my dad's house.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
Does this happen a lot?
Speaker 2 (02:39):
It happens more often than you would think. And okay,
I also want to say that there's a difference between
how people look at value and price and what something
is worth. Not everything has to be worth money. There's
sentimental value, you know, So it's you know, for us,
it's always a difficult position. If this is a family heirloom,
it's an heirloom, whether it's an authentic watch or not. Okay,
(03:01):
So it's always very touching and we like to be
very sensitive to that because it's important to everyone.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Right, you're still beautiful on the inside.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
Exactly exactly, and you know, for us, it's we're we're
an unbiased opinion. I'm just looking exactly what's in front
of me, So we have to take that into account.
But it does happen weekly okay. And one thing that's
really unique about, you know, time pieces in general, is
they all have a story, and much like diamonds and
much like jewelry, they have a story, a story attached
to them, and that emotional attachment makes this exchange and
(03:31):
connection really beautiful for us. That being said, though, there
is the actuality and the fact of what we're looking at.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
And I have no money and watch number one, okay,
watch number two, Well, I pay off my college student loans.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
Here we go.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
He's on the size of your loans.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Okay, what do you think about this one?
Speaker 2 (03:46):
So this too is a very special piece. I really
love the patina. I don't know if you can pick
that up on Instagram on the dial there, which is
kind of a fade on the inside, which I believe
is from moisture. So the locking mechanism is definitely peculiar,
not identifiably Rolex. There's no insignia crown, but that could
(04:11):
fall off with where Okay, okay, again, the links are
inconsistent and not polished to the degree of a traditional
Rolex watch. Uh, I'm sorry to say that I cannot
authenticate this watch either.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
So coming up with the l on both rolelexes. So no,
no money for me, no, but the value is in
having them right right the family heirlines beautiful still watches
I do?
Speaker 1 (04:40):
I do? I can tell the time correct.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Curious though for anyone that's listening that does come across
jewelry at their parents house or their grandparents' house, and
you know what, like, what are some things that you
look out for that I should look out for?
Speaker 2 (04:56):
Well, first, you always obviously that if that individual is
still alive, ask questions about it. Ask ask the provenance
where it was bought. You know, is there a story
behind it? Is there any paperwork, is there any boxes?
What does it mean to them?
Speaker 1 (05:08):
Sure?
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Be sure that if there's any contents along with it,
that you keep that all together. It's always important, regardless
of what you find, to be sure it's intact and
that it's secure and that things won't fall out or break.
But it's really give it the respect that deserves. Take
it to someone you.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
Trust, which for me was you. Immediately I appreciate that.
If I'm coming in.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
I like to say that if you don't know diamonds,
know your jeweler.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
Ah.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
So it's just like me when I have a tooth problem.
I don't go to.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
Google, right a dentist, you don't go to web md.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
No, I don't because then everything's a rare and curable problem.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
Okay, so you the box, The role X box is
a big deal.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Role X boxes and packaging are a huge deal there.
They're often you know, faked as well. But on the
flip side, you can have authentic packaging and not an
authentic time piece. Okay, Rolex uses specific Pantone colors, there's
specific crowns, there's different size boxes for different watches, so
it's all really specific.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
Okay, So you recommend if you do come across some
of this jewelry in your parents' house, definitely, if they're
still alive, get the facts on it. But I felt
super comfortable coming into Genesis and being like, hey, I
have all these watches.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
I have no idea what's going on.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
I've never even been into a jewelry store, and I
felt right at home there. So thank you so much
for being not just a sponsor of the show, but
for making me personally feel very comfortable.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
Well, it's our pleasure. The thing is that even if
you count to Genesis and you're not there to purchase something,
is that you're going to leave with something more valuable,
which can be knowledge. We love educating our consumers about
not just what they're buying, but all the background behind it,
so that even if you leave, you're a much more
dangerous customer for somebody else because you have a good background.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
Heck, yeah, I feel ready to go.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
Someone said, if I ever in my life decided to
do it trivia night and they say what am I
looking for with a Rolex, I'm going to say the
box in the papers.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
The papers, especially the papers themselves, are significantly more important
than the box because the papers will be serialized to
the serial number on the watch, as well as the
model number, show where it was purchased and the date.
The boxes do not have any serialization on them.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
Okay, quickly, there's a big market for scamming, et cetera
these days. Before I buy anything, Am I okay to
come into Genesis and be like, oh I think I
want to buy this?
Speaker 1 (07:26):
Like what are your thoughts?
Speaker 2 (07:27):
Or we'd be happy to go over all that with you.
And we have a massive selection of luxury pre and
rolllexes too, So the odds are we already have it
there for you. Where you're going to be able to
skip those massive waiting lists and have that watch on
your hands that day.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
And this weekend is a big weekend for you guys
with Rolllexes Montgomery Road.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
Tell me a little bit about the event happening.

Speaker 3 (08:16):

sponsor me for the rest of my life because I
picked up no money from those watches.
