describe someone who you've known for along time and you have tremendous admiration,
respect and affection for them, andthe problem is you just don't know where

it goes. Giving back to ourlocal communities and those who live here has
been the total focus of Tanya Sarojiand her sister a Beer Alan for Well
for quite a number of years.Powering through COVID health issues, these extraordinary
women, through their family business events, have managed to raise over two hundred

and sixty thousand dollars for airy andnonprofits over the last ten years through their
wonderful events. Tanya, who bythe way, is a military veteran,
is with us today to talk aboutshe and sister a Beer who have left
a corporate job, established their businessknown and established their business. Excuse me
knowing as I candy. Equally importantis that you'll hear about an extraordinary event

coming up that I feel every womanout there should attend. Hi, honey,
Hello, Wow, what an introduction. It's true, you know,
I'm so I don't know anybody.I mean, I know some wonderful people
out there, but I don't knowanybody who really worked so hard for their
local community and so many different ways. So I gotta head you in here.
I'd have you in here every weekif I well, I feel the

same way about you. I watchyou and I listen to you, and
you laugh, So I do Ilaugh, you do? You do make
me laugh. But I'm so impressedby you and your kind of stores,
the people in this community. Sothank you. Here's the deal. The
thing that I am so impressed withis you and you put this on literature
that you do, and this isthe way I try to leave or live

my life. The reason you arethe way you are is because you have
core values to your business and whatyou do. Please talk about that.
Well, you know A beer andI. First of all, we're sisters,
we're business partners. Do you havea fight every single day? Oh?
I feel so much better every singleday. Yes, we fight every
single day, that's just the norm. But we a long time ago had

decided that we don't want to justleave a legacy. We wanted to live
a legacy. And for a beerand I we think every day what can
we do today to really live alegacy and really to live a legacy,
and also to be proactive and makingchange in our community. So those things
(02:37):
are really important to us, andso we try to live by our core
values. You know, making adifference is one of the family rule.
Family is our number one priority aboveall else, and really try to bring
professional excellence and everything we do andlisten, we mess up like everybody else,
yep, and then we say,okay, that was yesterday, how
(02:59):
do we make it better today?So we really try to have some professional
excellence and then also cultivating creativity.One of the reasons that we started events
by I Candy was simply we sawthings that were lacking in our community and
we thought, hey, what canwe do to in a creative way bring

awareness to different things in our communityand also give back. So that's why
some of our events like super Chef, the Conference on Clock for Community and
Scrambled all kind of came about.And then finally, this is our number
one integrity. I hate when peoplesay, oh, we're an ethical company,
but we try to live our liveswith integrity, you know, and
(03:42):
everything that we do and the ourday to day personally and both professionally.
So those are like really really importantto bear and I I totally agree with
yet, especially the part about integritydoing the right thing when nobody can see
or you know, when you couldjust diseasily do the wrong thing. Is
doing the right thing just for thewhole purpose of doing the right thing because

it's the right thing, And that'sthat makes it's tough. And not even
just doing the right thing, butasking yourself, is there something that I
have time, treasure, talent thatcan make a change in some one's life,
or in a business's life, orin anything around you's life. And
so when you live like that,it's very easy to see the good in

the world when everything else is kindof collapsing around you. Yeah, you're
right, You're right, yea.Let me ask you this. Will you
mentioned a couple of year events thatI hope we have time to talk about
by the big one coming up thatI'm so excited. I'm telling everybody about
this all and it's for women.But then you have a couple of gentlemen
there and we'll talk about that,and it's acutally tell me about that.
It's coming up at the Penn Harris. That's right. So it's coming up

at October twenty six at the PennHarris. It's an all day women's conference.
Both my sister and I left thecorporate world. She worked in banking,
I worked in engineering, and whenwe became entrepreneurs, one of the
things we found was we couldn't findconferences of stuff locally that could really help
educate us, both professionally and personally. So we did surveys to a lot

of women and said, hey,what is it you're missing, What is
it that you need both professionally andpersonally, And then we took the time
and found really spectacular speakers that couldaddress those topics. And that's how the
Conference Woman was created. And sothis is our ten year celebration. Isn't
that crazy? So so we likethere's different parts to the conference, so
obviously we have super dynamic speakers.But excuse me a second, let's start.

Okay, so you're at the conference, you get there at seven thirty
breakfast, you have your breakfast,Well, Okay, this year, because
it's our ten year, we normallygive away one grant sponsorship at lunch,
but we've been so fortunate this yearto have two great sponsors who are We're

going to have two grants grant giveaways, so a thousand dollars each. So
in the morning, right during breakfast, we're gonna have Giant Corporation is going
to be giving away the first sponsorshipor sorry, scholarship grant, and then
at lunchtime Members for Us will begiving away the second grant. So those
are going to go to two differentnonprofits. We do not pick the nonprofits.
Nonprofits can write us and fill outRFP. We then take that and

give it to our sponsors and theyget the opportunity to pick though, Oh
it's the sponsors. The sponsors pick. Yeah. Yeah, So we just
opened it up because we like to, you know, we're always like,
hey, is there a nonprofit thatcould use an extra thousand dollars. I'm
sure there is, So we havethem fill out, like I said,
an RFP, and then the sponsorpicks it out. How do you decide
(06:41):
on your speakers? Every years?It's what's relevant in this day and age,
Like what are our women in thelocal area asking about wanting to know
and you know, we really likewe really take the time to say is
this relevant? Number one and numbertwo? Has us already been talked about
this year? There's a lot ofgreat speakers all over the place that speak
(07:02):
all in central Pennsylvania at different conferencesand different things. But we're like,
one, have they spoken in ourarea? Yes? Or no too?
What is the topic they're speaking about? And then we kind of go from
there. Okay, so you havefour or five speakers, and then at
the extra luncheons when you have yourkeynote speaker, can we talk a little
bit about the So we normally haveYeah, So we normally have six speakers.

In the morning, you get topick. There's two there's three going
on at the same time, soyou get to pick who you want to
speak. So if there's a topicthat resonates with you, you get to
pick up and you get to seethem. The keynote speaker, we try
to find somebody who the topic issomething that everybody can relate to, because
at lunchtime, during our ward ceremonies, it's both men and women who attend

the luncheon, So this year,our keynote speaker is going to be talking
about business and AI. Wow,so pros cons and all these different things
with AI. So we're hoping thatthat that it touches you in a way
where you can go back, becausewe ask all our speakers, hey,
make sure that when you're when you'respeaking to our audience and to those attendees,

that they're walking away with something tangiblethat they could take back to both
their personal and professional life. Sowe've been very successful the past ten years
having those speakers do that, sowe're hoping that's the same again this year.
That's a that's an excellent choice becausethat's a future Oh yeah, it's
a president and the future. Yeah. And for somebody like me who's technologically
challenged, I mean I'm scared ofit. I mean I feel the same
(08:39):
way, and I have some alittle I'm a little bit tech savvy,
like I would say, like atwelve percent tech savvy, but it would
be nice to know what it's capableof, what I can do with it.
Is this going to help my business? Is going to hurt my business?
As you know, or even inyour private life or anything anything So
like that that's the key. Whatis AI Obviously it's the future. It's

it's the same thing like when whenthe Internet first happened and we were very
scared of it, and now whereare we without the internet? You know,
I have to use my GPS onthe daily about it or before I
used to use an atlas in amap. So so those are the things
we you know, we're trying tobe forward thinkers and seeing what like what
(09:22):
does our area need and how canwe provide that service to our community.
You do have a gentleman speaker.We do, yes, Oh he's awesome.
Okay, So he is coming fromNew Jersey. His name is Phil
Hess and it's asked Me Anything.And the reason we love him so much
is because he talks about ask anythingin business. He has a book that's
(09:46):
come out and it talks about everythingfrom starting out in the job world too,
if you're transitioning, too, ifyou've already been established, but you
want to know more about negotiating,whatever the topic is in business. He
is such a great resource to getto hear. And now, so we
(10:07):
have a lot, like I said, we have a lot of great topics.
We have a topic talking about theneuroscience and getting the facts, factual
stuff about the neuroscience of manifesting thingsin your life that not ex because manifesting
is not the right word. Theneuroscience behind the limitations, limiting beliefs that
you have of yourself. Okay,so how your brain at that? Absolutely?
(10:35):
Yeah, yes, oh that works. It's great for somebody. Yeah,
not just low selfs. I mean, honestly, I think any person,
anyone listening could really benefit from thespeaker because honestly, whether we like
it or not, no matter howconfidence you are, there are days that
we are our own worst enemy andour limiting beliefs are stop us from moving
(11:00):
forward in life. Oh absolutely,yeah. Oh my gosh. So this
is going to be like really toolson how to navigate that and just kind
of excuse me. One of thepeople that are going to be there is
like the philanthropist is extraordinary Linda Johnson. Yes, so, Linda Johnson.
If for those of you who don'tknow owns Renewal by Anderson, and if

you've had the opportunity to meet her, she's a dynamic woman. And you
know, you see the you've seenthe commercials. I'm sure you've seen the
commercials zillion times. But what youdon't know is really the story behind her,
what makes her tick, why shedoes what she does for the community.
She for those of you who don'tfollow her or don't know her,
she has used her business and herexperience to really give back to this community
(11:46):
and make a huge difference. Notjust give back like financially, because she
does give back financially quite a bit, but her time, her talent,
her network. She uses the thingsand who that have, the people who
have spanned her career to really makeyou know, we call those like change
(12:07):
makers. They really oh, youuse their resources, whether it's financial,
time, talent, to really makechange. And what I like too about
her is her employees really rally aroundher. The lady's doing a lot,
right. Yeah. Well, youknow when you when you see someone and
you see the things that they're doingin our community, you just want to
(12:30):
be a cheerleader. You want in, You want in. You're like,
how do I how do I geta part of this? Like how do
I how can I help? Likewhat can I do? You know,
right before school started, she wascollecting school supplies and all kinds of stuff,
and I remember saying, I havea couple of things, and she's
like, every little bit helps,So oh yeah, she's she's fantastic.

Let's move along to the awards.Absolutely. So the awards are something that
are really important to A Beer andI. And it's not just because they're
an award showing somebody who's dynamic intheir field. But what we've found over
the last nine years is that theseawards, not I'll go through them quickly,
have really highlighted people who have beenkind of like hidden gems people.
(13:18):
You know, yes, thank god, I Bear and I have a great
network of people, but these arepeople sometimes I've never even heard of.
And I a bear and I getto read every single submission, which is
amazing. When people get nominated,we get to read every single submission.
Then those submissions get turned into theboard uh for them to pick the winners,
and then they inform us who wonthe award. But I remember,
(13:41):
I mean, this happens to meevery year. I start reading and I'm
just like, wow, Wow,this is just amazing. What when do
they have time to sleep? Whendo they have time? But seriously,
like, so goodwill ambassador. Youknow that's one of the awards, and
that's really recipient of this award isa woman who's focused on community outreach,
(14:03):
business, personal philanthropy. Leadership andDiversity is another award that we have and
that's for our business leader who excelsin the pursuit of cultural diversity and inclusion.
Care to share this is a reallygreat one because you're the mentor,
so this is a recipient. Therecipient of this award is a woman who
shares her expertise to help others developand grow. So really sharing your knowledge
(14:26):
as a woman to help raise somebodyelse to the level that you were at
with all the experience that you had. Lifetime Achievement Award. This award is
for a woman who builds long termbusiness success with strong community involvement and is
adaptable in changing business environments. She'sinnovative in her business strategy and recognize as
a business leader. So that one'sa great award as well. Business of
(14:50):
the Year same thing businesses who focuswho use their business to grow the community
via sponsorship, volunteerism, community involvement. And this last award is one of
my favorite awards because for years asa woman in business, I've always heard
about as women we don't get supportedby men. But that's just not the
case here in Central Pennsylvania. Sowe create award called the Aga Award,

and the stone is a stone ofstrength and courage. And so this award
is for men who support women inbusiness, who've demonstrated exceptional effort in helping
advance women in their careers. That'swonder Thank you, Oh, I think
that's great. I would like tomention other than the hundreds of thousands of
dollars you have raise and focus onissues in our community with let me give

you a small impact picture of whatthese ladies have done as far as meals
to the hungry. Over nineteen thousandmonths, Haven fed an additional four thousand
fresh food meals distributed in a capitalregion because of these girls. They've distributed
seventy two thousand dollars worth of lifesaving medical supply, twenty eight hundred dollars
(16:02):
towards breast cancer patients with medical billsprovided to colleague scholarships. And here's something
that I really really love about whatyou do. The money that you give
the non that you give out everyyear towards the nonprofits I love and I
love the fact that the nonprofit takesit and they're able to continue things that
they've done. The person I'm thinkingabout is Julie Walker. Yeah, talk
(16:26):
about her. She's so wonderful.So for those of you who don't know
Julie Walker, she runs the PeytonWalker Foundation, which provides all kinds of
health screenings for athletes, provides aeedsevents by I Candy was fortunate enough to
purchase an AD through because of thesupport of our events, and it was
actually, I believe, the firsta D in central Pennsylvania and it is

housed in Alison Hill at Saint FrancisSoup Kitchen between several nonprofits and our father
away from heart disease. And sowhen I first met Julie Gosh, I
don't even know, ten years ago, ten years ago, and she had
told me of the passing of herdaughter and how it could have been prevented
if you know, to simply buywell. She she died from this young
(17:12):
girl dyke from cardiac arrest. Andif you don't have a defibrillator there,
that's it. That's it. That'sit. And so it's really important to
not only do the health screenings tosee if you have the predisposition of getting
a heart attack or a cardiac arrest, but having the equipment there to help,
(17:34):
like it's like an AD. Sothat's one of the nonprofits that it's
just it's so meaningful to a Beerand I and we've tried to support her
through through different events of ours.But incredible nonprofit and and just just so
you know, the other day atSaint Francis that was taken out because somebody
had passed out and they had thoughthe had had a heart attack, and
one of the gentlemen that was therehad mentioned, hey, thank god we
(17:56):
had an AD there because just incase, we had one available and we
found especially helpful because Julie especially focuseson high school athletes because we hear all
the time every time a football season, whatever comes up, you find out
some kid passed out of football fieldor diner in football field because they had
something wrong their heart that wasn't detected. Yes, and the other thing too
(18:18):
that they've been going around is teachingCPR two different business organizations as well,
which is life saving. So notonly are they taking care of our kids
in high school at grade school,but they're also helping local businesses be aware
of Hey, if something happens.This is how you actually administer our CPR.
(18:38):
You know the compressions. And Iremember not that long ago. I
wouldn't say a month or two ago. I was trying to work the dummy.
I mean, I broke out ina sweat. Just I wasn't even
on there for a minute and brokeout in a sweat, But it was.
It's because of the Payton Walker Foundations. But now I have that education,
and there are a lot of peopleout there that because of you and
a beer, are able to continuetheir work. We didn't mention the shopping.

There's all kinds of vendors and ladies. There's all kinds of stuff there
also as time's running out, Ihate this that it's running out with you.
But there's a lot of them sponsorsif you want to talk about some
there's a lot of sponsors. Buthere's the thing. Is there still time
for more sponsors? And is therestill time for more vendors. There's always
more time for sponsors and vendors.We love vendors. So you mentioned the

shopping. We've all kinds of greatvendors. We also have a health and
wellness room that you can get pamperedin and it's just for you to be
taken care of, so health,there's health screenings in there, there's other
fun stuff that you can have tocome to find out what everything is.

sisterhood, trailblazers and leaders. Letit's talk about. So you'll have to
come and find out. Oh God, I will tell you. We have
four dynamic speakers and they're going tobe going through their journey of sisterhood.

They are trailblazers and their leaders,and it's something that you do not want
to miss. So that's going tobe our afternoon session. So normally we
have three sessions or three speakers inthe afternoon, but this is going to
be one not to miss. Wealso have the current Missus Pennsylvania America and
Susan Hewing and her topic is Tips, Tactics and Tiaras. Missus Pennsylvania America

spills the royalty for growing your personalbrands. So for those of you who
know Susan Ewing, she is adigital marketer. She has expertise beyond in
this particular topic, and she isthe current reigning Missus America, Pennsylvania,

who've had family members with addiction.So her father passed away from addiction as
well as her sister, and shebecame the guardian for her niece, who
I think now is fifteen or sixteenyears old. But she's just such a

dynamic speaker, So we're really excitedabout having her as well as Johnson.
She's going to be talking about confidence, culture and connections. So we would
love for you to join us thatday and really get inspired and realize,
you know, you are extraordinary andthe way to become extraordinary is to really
take care of yourself. I've alwaysthought of you and your sister that way

from the day I met you.But but I gotta ask you, what
do you think all these years?What are the things that you learn that
you use every day that's stuck withyou. Well, one of the things
I don't know if I use it, but I remember, I'm not alone.
This is not a unique situation,and other people have gone through what
(23:14):
I've gone through, And who doI surround myself. Who's at my table
and who's my personal board of directorsthat I can go to and trust one
hundred percent and say, hey,I, has this ever happened to you?
How did you deal with it?And I it's the ass because before
I used to take on everything bymyself and let it all just fester,
(23:36):
and then what happens, you blowup. You know, you and I
were talking about this earlier too.We're the oldest child, we are,
and that carries a lot with ittoo. Now let me just say we
may be the oldest children, butwe are we look the youngest. So
what any thinking about that, sisterdear? But it's true, It's true.
You were the one that's known asthe responsible one. You're the one
(23:59):
that because you do it all thetime and take over because you've got the
wisdom. It's expected that you doeverything. And it's tough. That it
is tough, But the thing isyou have to remember to lean on people,
give yourself grace. I have heardthat so many times, especially over
the last three years. Give yourselfgrace and move on. And you know,
you do have to see who's aroundyou, who are your personal board
(24:22):
of directors? Who are your peoplethat you can say anything to? You
trust us not going to go anyfurther. And their advice is good advice
because with everything in life. Youknow, when my friends succeeds, I'm
happy for him. When I succeed, I'm happy for myself. When my
friends fail, I'm right there bythem. How can I lift them up?
And I can attest to that that'sexactly how you are. And when
(24:45):
I fail, my friends are aroundme saying how can I help her out?
So, so those are the Thisis what I talk about all the
times. I try to do thisin my daily where I try to remind
myself that I'm not alone to givemyself grace and perseverance and grit. I'm
I mean, you know, what'sthe point if you don't persevere through the
good times and the bad times toget to the top. Right, You're
(25:07):
right, we're all gonna but you'regonna apply all this stuff even if you're
a woman. I don't want toand forgive me, I don't want to
say even but if you're at homewith your children, Oh my gosh,
the hardest job. Are you kidding? That's right? I can't even like
I am not a mother. Icannot even imagine how some of these women
not only are they taking care oftheir children, they're taking care of their
(25:27):
entire household. So you know,being a mother is not a joke.
And we have had women who havenot been in business attend the conference just
for a day for themselves. Yeah, So it doesn't matter where you're at
in life, you know, justthis is a day for you. This
is a day for you. Youdeserve to be pampered, you deserve to
be educated. And when you decideyou want to and if you want to

re enter their worksporce, let usgive you the tools on how to do
it and meet your sisters there who'llstick by you, your board, yeah,
my personal board of directors. Theconference has been a great opportunity for
networking. There's a lot of yeah, there's a lot of who's who.
But one of the things I havefound is women are so excited to meet
other women and you know, andnetwork and really just chit chat and have

fun. And it is a dayof fun. I mean, well,
you know what I find out Theysay that we're there's a sisterhood and Holly
and Hollie, I'm never talking aboutthis not too long ago where we have
found maybe it's this business, butit's not that way for us. But
by attending your conference and there werea lot and knowing you, I have
found there are a lot of womenwho have gone through what you and I
have gone through, or women whostayed home with their children and need to
(26:42):
get out and the kids are grownup, or whatever the situation is.
And it's encouraging. It builds youup. It's it builds a foundation for
you. It gives you hope,it gives you direction. Yes, and
it may not be today that you'rethat you may need the resources that you
get at the conference that maybe ayear from now, right, But but
just know a lot of these womenand men who attend the conference do have
(27:06):
your back. If you reach outto them, I guarantee you that they
will. They will reach back outto you and get you back involved.
Because at the end of the day, we live in Central Pennsylvania. This
is our community and we need toreally really build up the community that we
live in. And you do it, and I thank you. I thank
you from the bottom of my heart. Both do you wint a beer?
