It falls under a genre or a category. So do

Okay. There's a new term floating around in Hollywood to
describe the hottest new sub category of TV. And it
is and it is prestigials.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
Huh, like a combo of prestige and prestige. Procedural.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Yeah, prosidurals say that with peros in your mouth. Her.
It's all thanks to the critical and commercial success of
HBO Smashed the Pit. I mean that did it?
Speaker 3 (00:36):
It like created this new subgenre. Yeah, it won five Emmys.
That's the thing.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Most procedural shows, like cop shows, you know, so many
of them are all the time, don't typically clean up
with the awards, but they do make a lot.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Of dough whatever us fans love them.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
HBO leaning into the prestigials. Their first two news shows
are cop show and a family drama How to Survive
Without Me It's called They're not expensive, a shoot, easy
to deliver annually, and they're being infused with peak TV storytelling.
So it's working.
Speaker 4 (01:06):
Yeah, sounds a lot less costly than shows with I
don't know, dragons or aliens things like that.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Yeah, so the Pit is on HBO until these other
prestidurals arrive.
