Speaker 1 (00:05):
John Jaye Rich Stephanie.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Hi, how are you?
Speaker 1 (00:09):
Hey? Are you calling? Because you're listening to the podcast?
You text us what are you calling about? Exactly?
Speaker 2 (00:13):
So, I have a surgical souvenir, but it also ended
up and I should be dead.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
Okay, let's hear it.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
So when I was twenty five years old, my treading
of my tire in the back ripped open and I
slammed into a brick wall in the freeway, going a
little faster than I should have. I wasn't wearing my
seatbelt and I should have flown through the windshields, but
I did not. But my foot was on the brake
(00:42):
when I slammed into the wall, and so it shattered
most of the bones in my leg, and then I
also had brain damage from it. I slammed my head
on the dashboard along with others. You know, I bruised
my ribs, I did a lot of other things. But
over the past trying to heal from it, I've had
(01:02):
eleven ankle surgeries. I've had five spinal surgeries. I've had
four implants in my spine for pain. Because I of
course won the lottery of bad luck and I got
a rare nerve disorder that only two hundred and fifty
thousand people in the world have, and they have to
(01:24):
replace the batteries after so long. So I got to
keep my battery with the wires that went into my spine. Yeah.
I also got to keep my ankle screws that were
in my ankle because I had to have it fused. Eventually,
You're like a robocopy yep, and I have kidavers. So
(01:45):
I tell my kids I'm part zombie, part robot.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
How do you feel now, Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Just overall, so I still live with pain every day,
and it didn't I'm still alive, So it was a
happy ending. But I am to say, well, now I
can't work anymore, but I get to stay at home
with my kids, which I've always wanted to be able
to do.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
So well, thank you for sharing that story with Stephanie.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
No problems for a great rest two days you too.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Hey, are you calling about the pod thing that Peyton
went into?
Speaker 3 (02:17):
Actually no, I was calling to share with you my
serence with your podcast.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
Oh okay, I can't wait to hear it, but I
just want to take it on it it's his Valerie
on the phone and that it just said, pods saved life,
and I thought, pod wish what the thing Peyton did yesterday?
But everyone calls podcasts pod and if I read the
whole sentences John Jay and Rich pod So okay, so
what happened? How did our podcast save your life?
Speaker 3 (02:44):
It was It's a little different than that. So what
I was wanted to share with you all is how
much I appreciate the show and the podcast. So recently,
I had Lasik surgery and I was told that I
couldn't watch TV. Day of the surgery. I couldn't watch TV,
I couldn't read anything. I essentially just had to sit
(03:06):
there and figure out something to do until my surgery time,
which was ten o'clock. And you know you're nervous. I
got up early because I was nervous and like, what
do I do? And so I turned on the podcast
and I kept myself busy. And here I am laughing
and joking if I was in this really good mood
as I go into surgery. And then after surgery they
(03:27):
want you to go straight to sleep and let your
eyes heal and just give your eyes a break from
you know, having them open and stuff. And so I
went back to bed and put the podcast on, and
I fell asleep laughing to the podcast, and I just
really thought it was funny because I'm like, what am
I gonna do? I'm like, oh, listen, John Daye Rich.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
How inspiring that we put her right to sleep, is
what she said. I kept her company with nothing else.
Nothing would put me to sleep until I listen to
you guys talking about stuff.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
I was afraid you were going to think that I
was fine to be very susic of how it. No,
it was very comforting because it was, like, you know,
especially afterward. You know, I'm still all kind of worked
up in anxious from the procedure, which went well, and
I'm loving my results, but I wanted to show that
with you. But I also wanted to say that I
(04:24):
wanted to give a shout out to my Hugby. Today
is our twenty sixth wedding anniversary.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Oh thank you.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
Yeah, we're going to celebrate. We're going on a trip soon.
But let me tell you that man has saved me
in more ways than one, and he's just by everything.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
Well, don't let him compete with our podcast. We saved
Youruly first. I will remind him for the next We
gave you the gift of sight. Remember that now that
you can see, we would like you to watch our
audio podcast only every day. Just stare at it.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
I can be better now than ever.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
I have a great day, Valerie, thank you so much
for listening. Happy anniversary.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
