Kiss FM. L A, we have EJ on the line here,
one of the singing voices of Hundricks and got her
own music.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
We'll talk about to EJ. Nice to see you again.
Speaker 3 (00:13):
Hi, it's nice to see you again too.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Do you remember when we met? Yes?
Speaker 1 (00:17):
Absolutely, backstage. I was so curious about songwriting and what
you write about. Remember, I was like, what do you
write about?
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Would you tell me so? Personal stuff exactly? But that's
the best stuff, isn't it.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Writing is like therapy for me.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
So now, EJ, it's been a whirlwind since h K
pop Demon Hunters. This is a fascinating story to me
that you came up with the idea for Golden on
the way to the dentist.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Yes, I did, and the yeah, I actually came back
from the dentist today, So I hope everyone hits today.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
What song did you come up with today?
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Unfortunately, nothing came up today, but that having a gold filling?
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Sorry, does it happen that fast for you for Golden?
Speaker 3 (01:03):
Yeah, it happened pretty quickly, the melody specifically, But yeah,
it's just like the track was so good, so sometimes
like you know, We're lucky it comes out and that's
how Golden was born.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
I mean, when I'm on my way to the dentist,
I'm thinking about lying about how much I'm flossing, and
all of the questions they.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Ask, right when they ask you, are you in pain?
It was like, no, everything's fine, can we finish? Are
we good? Is it time to go?
Speaker 1 (01:27):
I know it was a special day and you're single.
In Another World coming out tomorrow. Tickets to go see
EJ in the singing voices of hun Tricks from K
pop demon Hunters at our jingle Ball Present of my
Capitol One are on sale at KSFM dot com slash
jingle Ball.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
So know that, but tell us about in another World?
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Yeah, so that's another song I wrote around two three
years ago during a session and yeah, same thing. It
was during a personal time that and it helped me
kind of get through a really hard time. Sorry, half
of my mouth is actually numb, but yeah, anyway, So yeah,
(02:06):
it's just about like, you know, kind of during that time,
I was going through an intentional break and it was
a healthy one. We were really good, but I wanted
an intentional break just to like reassess everything and if
we if we chose to part ways. It was kind
of a way to kind of cope with that idea
(02:29):
and I and I realized that when I kind of
accepted that maybe in this lifetime, because of all the
baggage or trauma that we both went through and the
resentments that was caused by that, you know, it's kind
of you know that in this world we might not
be good, but maybe in another world we would we
would have been perfect. And that kind of mindset kind
(02:50):
of helped me let go accepting that, and it kind
of helped have an ego death moment, and so weirdly
that was like freeing that, like there's infinite versions of
us and infinite possibility.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Is that Like that's amazing that sophistication of wisdom when
handling a crisis in our personal life.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
But that also kind of related to me, not just
like relationships, also like me with my relationship with my
parents or with my dreams. You know, as a kid,
I had a dream of becoming a K pop idol,
and I had to let that go. So to cope
with that, like I had to just accept that like
maybe in this lifetime, you know, I wasn't ready. I
wasn't mentally prepared and it's okay.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
You know, so this is EJ.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
You've heard EJ's voice from K pop demon Hunters, and
you're going to hear her voice on her single when
that comes out. We talked briefly about what it has
been like being a voice of a fictional group that
is so crazy around the world, but yet you are
also are a solo artist who writes their own music.
What's that dynamic been like to see happen from your view?
Speaker 3 (03:51):
It's just crazy? Sorry, it's crazy.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
You sounds great yea, yeah, you sound like that in
our mouths or not.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Numb, because, like, I never thought I'd be an artist,
so it's actually quite odd. It just happened so organically.
I never really viewed myself as an artist. It was
always as a songwriter, and that's how Hunterricks happened too.
I came in as a songwriter. So given the opportunity
from fans who've just been so supportive of me and
(04:21):
just like my singing, that just kind of allowed me
to explore what artistry meant to me. And I guess,
you know, songwriting is a form of art, so naturally,
I think that's kind of my artistry.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Super excited for all that's happening and can't wait to
see you again in December. Go rest your mouth. Everything
will come back to normal feelings soon. I appreciate your
dental hygiene. Thank you for that too as well. Her
song in and of the World out tomorrow. Tickets to
our jingle Wall get those two EJ talk soon.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Thank you, Thank you, Ryan Bye bye bye.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
So nice, so kind, so cool to meet her backstage.
And what a trooper to come on and do this interview,
get the early dental appointment and then come on like
moments afterwards with a numb mouth. We wouldn't do that, Yeah,
we would. I don't know, well, I think we have
to be here during the time that.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
They would do that. Wow, right, can you make how
to make work?
Speaker 1 (05:15):
We could come do the night show afterwards coming back
here one an't two point seven at Kiss FM.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
We're gonna play password for jingle Ball tickets
