Speaker 1 (00:00):
There's something called task masking, right that everybody's not everybody,
but you know somebody's are talking about and apparently it's
a new workplace term. Yeah, so think about where you're
going to work this morning, where you work right now?
Do you know any of these people? What are they?

Speaker 2 (00:17):
They're task maskers?

Speaker 1 (00:18):
What does that mean?

Speaker 3 (00:19):
So it's basically when an employee spends a lot of
time and effort just trying to look like they're really
busy or trying to look like they're working really hard,
when in reality they're hardly doing anything at all.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Well, let me, that's tups. What are you doing over
there in your computer exactly right now? Like what are
you looking at? They tell me, don't don't change it,
you just change just closed your window. Oh, he's following
along the he's following along. What do you call that?
The digital levels of the show as it's being broadcast.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Nice masking.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Well, he's also sometimes on llobean dot com.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
What is that?

Speaker 1 (00:53):
That's where he buys his clothing, his hiking gear. Oh,
for he and his jiu jitsu girlfriend.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
So that's one of the things.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Really, it's being on your laptop or your computer and
typing a little bit loud, walking fast through the hallways
holding your laptop.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Just like you know, just like you're you're just you
can't be stopped.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
You're sing, You're you're on the go, you are calling friends,
but you're using like the business line or using business
handjesters when you're on the call.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
But it's really like you're just talking to your mom.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Have we ever done any of this here? I mean
here or anywhere else?

Speaker 3 (01:27):
There are days that I maybe make myself look busier
so that I'm not stopped or bothered.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
This is not even a temptation for me. I can't
get work done fast enough. I'm never going to take
my time to do something else while I'm working. Could
be done with it sooner.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Never, no temptation, exactly exactly.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
But I do have a tendency to walk through the
office very quickly and not really like stopping.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
But it's not all the rest. You're trying to get
people to think you're busy.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
No, it's not because I'm It's because I'm trying to
get my taxes. Do you have a hard footstep? We
can hear you coming. You know, I've always had that
ever since I was a kid. I don't know why.
I just walk hard and I my posture is bad too.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
I need to work on that.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Well, mine's the worst ever. I just I can't even
deal with it. Do you ever pretend to be on
the phone and you're not.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
No, but maybe I haven't, not at work, but I
feel like I have for whatever reasons.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Yeah, I've done that before that, I have done task masking.
Point them out today. If youve seen me at the office,
just go task masking.
