Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm a hustle bit. Her name is Reggi Raja, Reggi Roja.
The previous gig was acting. She came out here, moved
to Los Angeles in twenty sixteen to try and pursue
her dream. A lot of people do that to be
an actor and actress. So she did that and it
didn't go well. She then did not have a place
to live. She met her husband, his name is Mel,

(00:22):
and she was navigating through depression and anxiety because they
could not afford therapy, and they created something called affirmation
cards and followed through with actions it would help uplift
them mentally and emotionally, and then she made it her business.
Love affirmation Darling, Good morning, Regi Roja. How are you?

Speaker 2 (00:43):
I am actually so good. Thank you for having me well.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Congratulations on being our hometown hustler.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Thank you so much. It is an honor and it's
a lot of pressure.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
No pressure. We're gonna make it easy. I do want
to talk about so many, including myself, moved to Los
Angeles to pursue a dream of being in the entertainment business.
Mine was broadcasting, yours was acting. Doesn't work out for everybody.
It didn't for you, but you pushed through it. Tell
me about pushing through that depression and that tough part

(01:17):
of your life.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Yeah. So, my husband and I and our little dogs,
we moved to la for acting in twenty sixteen. But
you know, California is really very affordable to live in.
Huh No, our quick our living situation just quickly like
fell apart, forcing us to live in our car for
two years. And during those two years we had to
navigate through depression and anxiety on our own. So just

(01:41):
put an afford a therapist or a life coach, so
to navigate our failing mental health. We would just declare
these customized affirmations and follow through with actions that would
just help boost ots aroductivity and also like have us
distracted from you know, quitting on life in general. And
so this helped us uplift us mentally and emotionally. And

(02:03):
then this positive mindset just coupled with faith is how
we were able to transition out of homelessness. And ever
since then, I've always wanted to use my story to
make a difference for the underserved, disadvantaged young adults facing
homelessness and mental health issues like us. So, yeah, in
twenty twenty after we were laid off due through COVID,
I launched Affirmation Darling and today we're in eight countries,

(02:27):
over seventy stocks and donated over eight hundred products and
nonprofits including Conent House.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Wow, Affirmation Darling dot com. To see these mental health
cards and positive stationary products, give me an example of
what's on a card.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Oh, the first one that I wrote was do not
worry or be anxious about things you cannot change or control.
And I wrote that first because we realized, my husband
and I that getting out of the situation was near
impossible at that moment. So how can we make this
work enough favor rather than against us? And that's this

(03:03):
is this forceful adaptation of this mindset is honestly what
helps us get out of it at the end.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
It's simple things like this that we do need to
reinforce and you almost need to reinforce it every single day.
Can be different ways of saying it, but you need
we as humans, you need this every single day because
you want to stay on track. Yeah, I think it's fantastic.
Just your whole story is what struck me and I
loved it. Reggi Raj of Affirmation Darling at Affirmation Darling

(03:30):
on Instagram, and mel was your angel to come into
your life. You could do this together with your husband.
So congratulations on being our hometown hustler.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Oh it totally is well. It was just a one
woman show, but I realized I needed to tap his
bank account to expand my product lines. I mean, so
I didn't want the.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Big hugs to you, REGGI thank you for coming on.
