Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ed Ceran on Kiss FM. It's seacrests with you. Thanks
for listening to us. Every time I see red wine
on a menu, I think of Ed Sharon because they't
mean I think it might have been off air. We're
just talking about red wine. Yeah, exactly. And he specifically
liked California. You like cabs, Yeah, California cabs. Every time
I see one, I think of Ed Sharon. Yeah, all right,

(00:21):
that's nice, Ryan. But let's get to what's important, and
that is the Hometown Hustler segment from books. Yeah, let's
go Noegmar there.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
And hit it.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
I'm this is just a moment where we can celebrate
local businesses and people in your community, in our community
that have started a pursuit out of passion and they're
making it work as their hustle. And I love it.
And it's a it's a like a path to happiness
in terms of well being and living well, right, because
if you're doing something that you love, it's no longer work,

(00:51):
and that seems to be the goal. And if you've
always thought about doing something but never taken the leap
of faith, maybe this kind of thing will inspire you.
So let me bring in Lulu and Lacey right now,
Lulu Chang and Lacey Bernard, two extremely creative, talented moms
with a shared passion for educating. So you were teachers

(01:13):
at LAUSD. Yes, good morning, Good morning Lulu and Lacey.
This is such a cool story. So tell me, Lulu,
what happens since you stopped teaching at LAUSD and how
you got into these Chinese bi lingual books.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
Well, I stopped teaching because I had a baby girl
and she's nine now, but at that time, I really
wanted my children to connect with their grandparents in Taiwan,
and it was really important that they could be able
to speak and have a cultural connection when they visited.

(01:54):
And that was how it began.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
And it's called Biddie Boo Eaval. You want to see
it bidibal dot com. And these are books that teach
English and are in teaching Chinese as well. And I'm
sally looking one of the covers called Foody Detectives and
I'm dying to know what that's about.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
If Food Detectives is a really fun book. It's a
question and answer book. Lul and I were both elementary
school teachers and we love chop pulling our books filled
with education in addition to learning language. So we made
this bilingual book as a question answer riddle book, so
families will read with their children, you know what has eyes,

(02:37):
what has skills, and what has a tail? And then
the kids turn to page and they see the food
cooking the steamer, which for this one would be it's
a steamed fish. And then we have other fun you know,
foods like chicken feed and pearl meatballs and various other
Asian cuisines that are fun to eat for kids.

Speaker 4 (02:56):
That's so cool, and it teaches kids about other cultures
as well.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
It does Bitty Boo our hometown hustlers here, Lacy and Lulu.
Now it was interesting to me because we lived with
Patti Rodriguez for so many years as she was launching
Lil Libros, which was also a bilingual book company. Did
you hear about that too along the way.

Speaker 4 (03:18):
Yes, we love her so much. When we started this,
we actually reached out to them too, like, hey, we're
two moms and like we really want to go on
this pass. Is there any insight you can share with us?
And we had a connection with each other, So that

(03:39):
was a really nice connection to have with her and Arianna.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Two former teachers doing some very cool bitty bow check
it out bilingual Chinese English book publishing company. All kinds
of great stuff there, our hometown hustlers of the day.
Thank you very much for coming on and continued happiness
and success.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Yeah, I need so much.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
Oh go guys, borrow on Saturday, be at Barnes Park
in Mortnery Park if anyone wants to come visit us.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
Very cool to say exactly where you're going to be
if people are listening.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
Oh, be at Monory Park at Barnes Park from ten
am to five pm.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Okay, bring a lot of those foody detective books. It's
hot pot time looks good too. All right, bye guys,
thank you so much, Bye bye. All right, so I
let's play the game, Tanya. If you're a hometown hustler
in a year, what would you what would your segment be?

Speaker 3 (04:30):
I'd be doing like speaking engagements, like modern woman.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
Workshops, cisy. I think I would have like a boutique
slash flower shop. I would have a hot dog cart,
just a cart, olive oil, kombucha, eggs. Can I sell
my hot dogs? Which are? It would be big. I'm
telling you, listen, that's why we need some space, guys.

(04:56):
We can create all these in some space somewhere. We
could be like a little market, right. We got Disneyland tickets.
Hang tight, It's kiss on Friday morning.
