Worth the wait! Kevin Jonas shared with Ryan Seacrest the real story behind his first-ever solo track "Changing." The eldest Jonas Brother shared with Seacrest it was the right time and right song, but it still took a minute.

Kevin shared he reached out to producer Jason Evigani after he performed solo in their new holiday film A Very Jonas Christmas Movie, but he didn't initally hear back from the producer.

"I texted Jason Evigani and I said, 'Hey do you have any songs that you think might work for me?'  ... And he does not respond to me -- this is February -- until June and he responds with the song and says 'I think I found it.'"

Kevin continued that he then flew to LA almost immediately to start recording.

"Timing is eveything with these things."

So why did it take nearly 20 years to debut his own solo track?

Listen back for more from Kevin to find out and to hear why now was also the time to film a holiday movie. Plus, get deets on Nick and Joe's next moves!

Speaker 1 (00:00):
There it is Changing. That is the new track. You
just heard it this morning, Kevin Jonas just heard it
this morning right now on one of two point seven
to Kiss FM and just as if as always right
on time, perfect timing. Here is Kevin Jonas on the
backside of his solo single Changing. Hello Kevin Jonas.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Hey guys, I'm sorry the service is a little bad.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Hi.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Hi everyone, Hi, listen.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
If you want to complain about the service, don't tip.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Okay, yeah, no, I you know I am at a
hotel right now, but no, thank you.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
It's so good to see everyone. Hello.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Oh my gosh. You know, we were just reflecting on,
by the way, congratulations on the hands in the cement
yesterday in Hollywood on the.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Walk being a part of it. Thank you.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
That was That's incredible. You know, only friends can do
things like that for friends, and I appreciate you so much.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
I was thrilled to be asked and so excited to
see all you guys, and as we were talking about
it yesterday, but just thinking back for those who didn't
see this Jonas Brothers hands and cement, it's about time.
Right on the Walk of Fame there in Hollywood, and
we I think we had our first major interview, major
conversation on KISFM seventeen years ago. It was almost whiles ago.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Yeah, with the window and everything. I'll never forget. Yeah,
they're just talking about that.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
I drove up that morning. It was at the E
building at the time. Tany were you You were there, right, Yeah, Okay,
Tanya Ellen was there just before Cisini started in the
morning show, and there were more screaming fans than I've
ever seen before. And I thought, Wow, our show has
gotten finally popular.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
You got you, You have fans, Ryan, and it was
that you had a huge career. I'm pretty sure they
were there for you too.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
No, it was. It was really impressive and amazing to
see the fans that they had already had. Obviously you
know that the Jonas brothers were massive back then. But
listen to this conversation that we had about your wife,
Danielle was seventeen years ago. Listen to this Who's Danielle?

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Kevin a family friend from New Jersey, Like way back.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
How do all these girls I walk outside and they're like, God,
ask Kevin about Danielle? Who's you know?

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Do you have friends that are of the opposite sex.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Why can't we you know, I was, I was. I
was like shooting from the hip, just straight line about
friend of the opposite, But would you be also kissing her? Oh?

Speaker 1 (02:21):
I asked about that? I think, didn't I think you did?

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Wow? Look at that. That's right? No, yeah, wow, See
you really like that? That would have been.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
It was probably very trying on my relationship that I
responded that way, honestly, thinking back on it, I apologize, Danielle.
You know what we we we stood the test of time.
It's a it's okay, So there we go.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Well, it's great to have you guys and see all
the success over the years. We just played Changing, which
is the solo song that is out circuling in the world,
which we love.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Thank you everyone.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Our favorite moment debut right there. So just tell me
about the genesis of that and that song that we
just heard the lyrics to.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
Yeah, so I played it for the first time live
at Femiway Park, which was of course, you know, it's
really jumping into the deep end, just like the way
the Jonas Brothers do it. Classic you know, nothing bigger
than Fenway Park and saying, hey, let me do this
for the first time here but you know, a little
tequila and everything worked out. But before that we finished filming.
We finished filming a Christmas movie up in Toronto, and

(03:23):
I won't give anything away, but there may or may
not be a thing where I sing in that movie too,
And so I called Jason Evigan, actually texted him, and
was like, Hey, do you have any songs that you
might feel could work for me? Over the last twenty years,
I've worked on lots of music, wrote a bunch of songs,
recorded things, just never felt like it was like the
right thing. Now he does not respond to me. This

(03:43):
is February. He doesn't respond to me until June. He
responds with the song and says, I think I found it.
So timing is everything with this stuff. And the first
time I heard the song, I was just like, oh
my god, this is it. This is the one that's
the one I've been waiting for. And I flew to
la almost like immediately within a week and a half,
and I cut it and that was it.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
I've had it since then.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
But like fifteen years, you've been working on things, thinking
about things, you know, almost as long as I've known you. Guys,
if it were me trying to do something in that time,
I'd push, like, I don't know that I'd have the
patience and discipline to wait for the right moment. How'd
you do that?

Speaker 2 (04:17):
I think it's all self self, you know, inflicted.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
You know, I think when you stand next to two
of the greatest vocalists that you know, and it can
be a little intimidating, to be completely honest with you,
but I just also felt like I didn't have the
right song. I felt like it was like one was
trying to say the wrong things, one was trying too hard.
Did that really sound like something I'd want to release, Well,
this one did, and that's when.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Yeah, fan, I played it. I played it for Tanya.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
I played it for Tanya at the show in LA
before it came out, and so I've had it for
quite some time.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
The crowd when he performs it live during these shows,
it's like you've never heard screams like this before, Like
everybody's been waiting for this, and like everybody's just so
happy and excited for you.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
It's like so cool to see thank you so much.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
Well, you know, it's it's been a long time coming,
but I'm just happy that people are responding to it,
and you know there's more, just got to figure out
what to do with it and when as long as
it's not another twenty years, then I'm doing better.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Than I Yeah, no doubt. I mean it is. It's
so great that you guys have all done your solo
things now and you can also balance the franchise that
people expect and want. It seems like that's like the
perfect balance is getting together as brothers and then also
being able to be creative and do your thing.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
I think that that's what's so unique about our our
band and our as you know, who we are.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
It's not just the one lane that we stay in.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
I think you know, Nick just introduced in Debut that
he's you know, launching a new album, the coming out
February sixth.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
Then you know, it's incredible.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
He played a bunch of stuff at this thing he
did in Las Vegas and it's it. And then Joe's
got stuffy he's doing now he might be doing some
more DNC stuff, like there's just no stopping like the
solo thing.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
And then we come back together for the Mothership and
it's great.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
There's only one group of people that could bring peace
on earth, and I think it is the Jonas b.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
I have. I have yet to be asked to go
to the un so we'll see it. Well.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
I'm just thinking like, if you think about the Love
and Joy and the beautiful movie, the Christmas movie that
you put out to on Disney plus that made our season, if.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
You will, I cannot believe the response to this film.
You know, it's a bit a bucket list of item
of ours to do a Christmas film forever. Like when
we were kids back in the Disney days, we were like, yes,
let's what you know. We met with the team and
they're like, what do you guys want to do? And
we had the TV show in the camp Rock at
the time. They're like, we want to do a Christmas
film and obviously it like a holiday film and it
didn't work out then, but it kind of worked out
perfectly now. I think it's so much better now with

(06:37):
our families and just where we are in our lives
and the response is incredible And if you haven't watched
it yet, it's perfect time now to check it out.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
So make sure and make sure.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
You do it now. What will happen Christmas Day? Will
everybody be apart what you guys do.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
So I'm we built a new house this year, so
me and Danielle are going to be at home with
the girls and like her side of the family for
the most part, at our home. There the guys, we
literally wrapped the tour on the twenty second and then
we'll get a ship. We have shows at the hard
Rock in Miami, of course in you know, on New
Year's which is gonna be great. But but we wrap
on the twenty second. So we've seen each other like

(07:10):
every day the way.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
So I'm I think we're all gonna like kind of
do our own thing.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
I think Nick and Joe we're gonna go upstate a
little bit and try to see some snow even though
it's snow and my kids had a snow day yes,
like two days ago.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
It's crazy. Yeah, in Miami, California, in La awesome to
see Kevin Jonas new solo debut right here in kisipe
here it again is just a little bit and we'll
see what somebody. Thanks a lot less you. Bye bye
Disneyland tickets. Speaking of Disney Plus coming up next,

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
