Speaker 1 (00:01):
So the Oscars are Sunday, and you'll see a little
promo during the Oscars for the American Idol preview, which
will happen after the Oscars. And it's just to me,
it's so exciting this year because there's a clip of
like me saying, Carrie Underwood is the next She's the winner,
not the next, Carry under The winner.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Is Carrie Underwood.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
And then you see Carry Underwood at the table as
a judge on American Idol. There's just something that gives
me chills about that.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
I love that full circle. Yeah, it's really crazy.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
If I was never associated with the show, it's still
that is just a really unbelievable thing. Twenty years later,
she's a judge on the panel with Lionel Richie and
Luke Bryant. Another thing that has struck me about now
season twenty three of the show is that it's become
a little more international. The contestants from all over the
world are auditioning. A lot from Nashville, a lot from

(00:49):
different small towns around the country. Sure, but then they
are a handful that come from all over the world.
I brought one in. Now today you're gonna see who
is one of those contests and Sunny Tennant is all Sonny,
how are you, buddy?

Speaker 3 (01:01):
I'm all good, Ryan, It's nice to say you again.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
How's good to see you. All right, it's going on.
Let me see if they can guess where you're from?

Speaker 2 (01:09):
This is my accent and guess yeah, UK for sure? Yes,
what part of the UK? London or outside of London.
Let's speak again, Liverpool.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
So my name is Sonny Tennants and I'm from the UK. Yes,
you're right, but I've got a bit of an accent,
so I'm trying.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
To give you Wales Manchester, go ahead, what's the correct answer?

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Off with Manchester?

Speaker 3 (01:32):
So it's actually Newcastle, which is very like the most
northern point of the UK, you.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Know Sharan's hometown and pub are you where? Do you
just tell us that.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
That's what we know?

Speaker 3 (01:42):
It's the other side of the country.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
So where is ed Sheeran from? And then tell us
where you're from?

Speaker 1 (01:49):
So Sonny, just curious, like how did you end up
coming to America to audition for America?

Speaker 2 (01:54):
And I don't have this story evolved for you.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
I mean I've been a fan for years of all
of the talent shows. Really obviously I'm a singer myself,
so I'm always watching and watching the talent, and basically
I got approached this year and I was I was
really happy about it, and I actually took a bit
of contemplation whether I was going to go for it
or not because I had a few things lined up
which you have to cancel and stuff. But honestly, like,
I'm so glad I was a part of this season,

(02:17):
like everyone from the producers behind the scene to all
the contestants, like, it was such an amazing experience. I'm
still on a bit of a come down now from
it all because I just loved it all man, And
it was great to meet you as all.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
You were so polite. You know that you were so polite.
You were so gracious and polite with everything that happened. How,
I know you can't say too much, but how did
the experience feel to you? How are your nerves like,
how do you look back at it?

Speaker 3 (02:44):
I have to say I didn't know what to expect
going in, but the nerves were real. Man. It's like
it's like, yeah, there's a lot of waiting around and
obviously performing for the Carrie Luke in Lionel, who are
legends and it's just the anxiety. I definitely felt the nerves,
but it's just about control in your voice through the nerves.
And yeah, I think I did Okay. I think people
are gonna be happy with the audition and stuff.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
So Sonny comes in and sings a light essentially a
Linel song for his audition, which takes you.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
Know why, Honestly that was like nerve rock and stuff,
but honestly honest. Even the judges, everyone's just so nice.
I can't say good things. I know I'm like sounding
very polite right now, but I can't lie. Everyone was
just amazing, you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (03:24):
And here it is. Listen to this. It's why easy.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
No, I'm easy, like Sunday morning, right great?

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Easy right there? Or we can't wait to watch it.
You're gonna love watching Sonny's story on American Idol Sunny Tenant.
There a special preview of Idol Sunday after the Oscars
and the whole season comes up.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
That's March to night, ABC streaming on Hulu.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Sonny, we really love having you on this show and
I can't wait to see somebody.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
Thank you so much, Ryan, all the best, Thank you.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Okay, take care, The nicest guy ever, truly, the nicest
guy ever.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
