Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm Sabrina Carpenter rolling up on eight thirty this morning,

(00:03):
one of two point seven kiss if M Los Angeles,
Live with you one eight hundred and five one two
seven if you want to check in. Uh, you know,
everybody I know has either been evacuated or is taking
in friends who have been into their homes with their kids,
who are just uncertain about what's going to happen, where
they're going to go through all of this. Let's go
back to Ginger Chan for a second. Ginger, thanks for

(00:23):
all the incredible coverage, both on the radio and on TV.
We appreciate that it seems like most people are listening
to what officials are saying and staying off the roads
where they can when they can.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Yeah, but you know, I have to say, and I'm
in my other ear Ryan, I'm also listening to the
press conference, and as I'm talking to you, Lacit Fire
Captain Kristin Crawley just said that we are under we're
still under an extreme fire behavior pattern, and so when
we talk about that, it really gives us a great
indication of why people were kind of off the roads, because,

(00:55):
I mean, it is so bad with those swirling winds,
I mean some of them clocked it like ninety miles
per hour and areas of Burbang, we've never seen anything
like that before, right, and it was just impossible to see.
And then we're talking about power outages, and you know,
really COVID helped some people be able to work from home,
and I think they were able to utilize that, and
even working from home, without the power, they couldn't do

(01:16):
any work anyway. So I think that that's maybe part
of why we are seeing, you know, better conditions on
the roads. But we're really not out of the woods yet.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
And so what is any major issues this morning?

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Yeah, you know, we had people who were kind of
blowing through the intersections where the signals weren't working. You know,
you got to treat it as a four way stop,
and so you see the barricade, you see everything's blocked off.
You see that the flashing lights, and then people were
still blowing through them and that's dangerous. I wish you
could see my notes.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
I have like four papers of just you started your
notes at one am.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
I did them.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
I have yes, and from one am yesterday as well.
But I just want to let you know that you know,
we're kind of like in this lull right in terms
of the winds, you probably already know this, but maybe
like around two this afternoon, and for a lot of
people that's close to like school pickup time, some of
those winds are going to start to strengthen. And then
get this, I just checked with our weather department. I mean,

(02:14):
they could guss as much as fifteen miles per I'm
talking about today Santa Clarita, Ventura, parts of Malibu, possibly
as much as sixty five miles per hour, Santa Monica,
the Santa Monica Mountains, and you know these are gusting.
Of course they're not sustained winds, but there's still enough
that puts us in that high wind watch zone, not
high wind warning, but just in the watches. And that's why,

(02:36):
you know, I quote Kristin Crawley, the LACD fire chief,
that you know, we're not out of it because of
these winds that are expected.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Ginger chan with is a KTLA. All right, go back
to TV. We'll talk to you in a few minutes.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Thanks so much for apiate you.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
All right, She's great, But that's what in the morning,
to get all this stuff.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
For it, I know, she gets up so early. But
that's what helped us last night is that the winds
weren't as intense as they were the night before when
it was burning in the Palisades and they weren't able
to have helicopters to drop the water.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Yeah. The air assets are so important. Yeah, and that's
what really helped last night. With the Hollywood Hills fires. Siciny,
we're all thinking about you Studio City. That house started
to catch fire, and there was so much warried that
that would be the next fire that would have spot
fires and then jump and spread. Firefighters got on it
quickly and really managed it well considering how spread the

(03:25):
resources are. But you had to evacuate.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Yeah, and we didn't have to evacuate, to be honest,
But it was just so scary because when the Hollywood
Hills won erupted that that forced us to start packing
because that was getting close to us.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
And then when.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
Studio City happened, I mean that was literally I mean
not to give you exactly the location where I live,
but it was a handful of streets over from my house,
right and you know, you just don't The winds were
still so unpredictable and who knows how far an ember
could go.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
So you went through that moment of Okay, what do
we take, what do we not take? Let's pack up
the car.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
And it was so sad and so scary to make
the decisions of what you're gonna leave behind.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
Here's some video. It's sound of the video. You can't
see the video on the radio, but here's sound of it.
Let me play box.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
We're not bringing it, actually going.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Through a box to decide whether or not to take it.
What was in the box.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
It was love letters from Michael from our entire relationship, pictures.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Just like, how did he feel about you saying we're
not taking it?

Speaker 3 (04:29):
He told me we can't take it. Michael was very
He's like I was trying. I was getting my scrap
books from like senior year of high school.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
I was just grabbing like.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
What I could, and he's and he's just like, we
need to leave some of this stuffy hand.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
You bring those in here, Tany and I would do
a reading a week from that box if you want
sure exactly.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
But you know, we had a pack up, three kids
and three dogs in our car, and we did the
best we could. But we were lucky. Our my brother
in law and his wife lived not too far from us,
and we were able to sleep with them last night.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
And for peace of mind, well, let me just give
you quickly the updates here. Palisades fires over seventeen thousand
acres rolling up on eight thirty this morning. The Eating
Fire and the Alta Dina over ten thousand acres no containment.
No containment of Palisades as well. The Hearst fire and
silm are now ten percent contained at about eight hundred
and fifty acres. Lots of schools close today, as you know,
LAUSD and a whole list of schools closed today. Universal

(05:21):
Studios Hollywood closed again. Is a boil water notice issued
for Palisades, the Palisades area and the adjacent areas, So
don't use the water there, make sure you boil it
if you do. And the red flag warning is an
effect until six o'clock tomorrow for most of the area.
We're going to take a quick break, we'll come back here.
It's one of two point seven kiss
