Is this smart or tacky? A couple named Chris and Tasha are going viral for sharing their wedding day move to secure funds for their honeymoon.

They've been together 14 years before they got married so they didn’t need traditional gifts at their wedding (like a blender or bath towels). So, instead, they asked for cash for their honeymoon.

They put a credit card reader right by the bar with a sign that said “Don’t be tight pay for our flight.” Putting it by the bar was key because the more people drank, the more generous they got.

The couple did not disclose how much they got, but they say the guests were very generous and some even tapped twice!

Would you do this? Or is this super tacky? Listen back to join the debate.

It's Seacrest, Sisany and Tanya in the back room.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Now listen to this. I have a clear view.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
A lot of people are up in arms on the
internet about it.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
It's a couple.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
It has to do with basically at your wedding asking
for people to pay for your honeymoon.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
So follow me to couple's Chris and Tasha.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Great couple been together fourteen years before they got married,
so they really didn't want traditional gifts at their wedding
because they'd already been together. Didn't want bath thousand blenders.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
And yeah, they've already have everything.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
So they wanted for their friends and their family to
pay for their honeymoon in Mexico.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Well, I've seen this like honey fun. Yeah, this is
very common.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
That's basically it. I mean, that's the whole story. Credit
card reader at the thing. The more people drank, the
more they contributed.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Whoa, whoa, whoa. What's that? A credit card reader? Well,
I don't know, I don't know how that works, but.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Normally they do it like on their wedding.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Yeah, like on the website.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Well, the method of payment I'm not so concerned with.
It's about do you think this is appropriate?

Speaker 2 (00:53):
And appropriate. Is it okay or not okay?

Speaker 3 (00:55):
No, that is the whole point having this.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
So people say it's tacky, some say it's you know,
it cheapens the whole vibe.

Speaker 4 (01:02):
My sister did this for my batch when we went
to Puerto Rico and she got like three thousand dollars.
She did like a digital like Venmo of the bride
buy her a drink and she raised like three grand.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
I think it's actually a great idea.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Not having it at the wedding. That to me is
taxic scanning, a QR coming on your website and people
can go at their leisure whenever.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
They feel comfortable.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
I'd rather contribute to your good time than a blender anyway.
You're on air with Ryan Seacrest.
