Speaker 1 (00:09):
Characters DJ Triple in the mix there on one O
two point seven Kiss FM. That's what we like to
do on a Friday mixing. I'm just gia a little
vibe there exactly to get your vp ms in the
right place for a weekend. Mm hmm. You know, I
when I look at two athletes, I know, I'm like,

(00:31):
when you see me, do you see an athlete? Can
you look at me?

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Actually, I see a very fit man that loves the gym.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
Okay, yeah, that's I'm my ceiling is the gym. I
can't break past the gym.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
When you do enjoy the gym, So that's athletic.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
Look at these two. These are real yeah, us A
athletes down. Oh we are on our knees. If I
could get on my knees but hurt right now, I would.
Tara Davis Woodall and Hunter Woodall, it's great to have
you with us and well, first of all, congratulations Tara

(01:06):
on the gold the right win they do. Where is it?

Speaker 3 (01:13):
It's in the track. I can go get it, but
I definitely have it on deck with me.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
Thank you so much. It's a pleasure speaking with you.
Thank you for having us well.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Of course, so you you grew up here, right, a
Gora high Yeah, I did.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
I grew up in a Girl Hills. I went to
a girl high school. I went to a right middle school. Yeah,
a local legend.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
How do you like? What's the key ingredient to winning
the gold in the long jump? Like, what did you
in your mind? I know you have to obviously work
hard to get there, but what is the mentality of
winning a gold?

Speaker 3 (01:47):
Uh? Confidence? Ex confidence and dude, honestly, it's just the game.
It's a game.

Speaker 4 (01:57):
You know, you got you gotta you gotta beat the system.
So that confidence definitely grew me into the lead for sure.
And just knowing my position in this place.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
And Hunter is with us. Now, Hunter, what all you
are you're getting ready for?

Speaker 5 (02:12):
Right?

Speaker 1 (02:12):
The Paralympics now coming up?

Speaker 5 (02:14):
Yeah? I leave on Sunday, so a few more to
sharp some things up and head out.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
So tell me about what you're looking forward to this weekend.

Speaker 5 (02:23):
I'm looking forward to competing. I love racing. I haven't
race since since the qualifying meet for the game. So
just going out there and we've worked so hard, We've
done so much, been so diligant, So now I get
to put that on on on display, go have fun,
represent the United States?

Speaker 1 (02:38):
And what is your event?

Speaker 5 (02:40):
I'm gonna run the one hundred, four hundred and the relay.
So I got a pretty full scheduled racing out there.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Sell wow, I mean the Paralympics back to back, you
know they turn it around right after the Olympics there
in Paris as well. And what is the train like?
I mean, at least running we can all sort of
relate to long jumping, not as much. I mean sometimes
I jump over a puddle, yeah, but that's out.

Speaker 5 (03:03):
You never know, un tell you try.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
But we can all picture ourselves out there. I mean
I remember after watching some of the was the five
what was the men's five thous what was the long one?
The five thousands? You know what, I'm many to get
out there and do twenty minutes on the treadmill at
three point one incline and give it mine all. I mean, yeah,
it excited me. What is the training like for these
sprints in these runs?

Speaker 5 (03:24):
For you, hunter man, it's it's a pretty strenuous training schedule.
I mean it changes throughout the year, but essentially we're
on the track five six days a week, and then
we're in the weight room three days a week, so
we'll probably have anywhere from eight to nine sessions a week,
and then what happens off the track is just as important.
So we're focusing on our nutrition. We cook I would

(03:46):
say eighty ninety percent of our meals at home together.
We are focused on recovery, so a lot of our
day is spent, you know, doing recovery things. Hyberk Chambers.
We're doing all sorts of things to help our bodies
recover and be able to do it in the next day.
So we're training a lot.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
Do you notice, I said, and if you just got
here Tara Davis Woodhall and Hunter wood Hall. So they couple.
How did you guys meet and how did you become
the wood.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
Hall We met in high school at a track of meet.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
Both of us went to Idaho, Hunters from Utah from California.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
So I saw him and I was like, oh my gosh,
that guy is kind of cute.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
He's cute. You guys are both adorable.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
And then he was racing and they were just like
announcing his name and I never put a name to
his space. I didn't know who was and I saw
him racing, I was like, wow, Like that's incredible, and
I stepped up onto the track, which I was definitely
not allowed to be on, and was like, I don't
know why I have to.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
Do this, but I have to give you a hug
and I love that.

Speaker 5 (04:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
I gave him a hug and he was pretty taken back.
I mean, it's pretty random with some random girls.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
Random girl like tar Davis has been that girl from
the gets. Even in high school she was she was
one of the best athletes in the country national record hold.
I knew exactly who she likes and getting me a hug,
it was pretty special. Yeah. I spent the remainder of
the meet like walking around hoping to randomly run into

(05:20):
her and sparkling to the conversation. So it was really fun.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Yeah, from from that meeting until you got married. How
long was it?

Speaker 5 (05:29):
Uh? Oh man? I mean we didn't even start dating
until the summer going into college. We're friends for a
long time, and then we got married in October of
twenty twenty two, so we're coming up on two years.
So that would have been five years of dating and
then yeah, we're on almost two years of being married.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
Team USA and Happy Couple.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
I gotta say you made me cry when when you
won the gold Tarrow Okay, and then you went and
you hugged Hunter and it was what Hunter, how you
reacted to her, and you're just.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Like, you got the goal.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
You got the goal, and it was like you could
just see that pure like commitment of like all the
sweat and tears I'm sure it took to get to
that moment, and he knew exactly how hard you worked
for it, and it was really beautiful to watch here
back at home.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
That means a lot.

Speaker 5 (06:17):
Yeah, it was so special to be in that moment.
It's crazy, so surreal.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
