Jo Mario Lopez and Mariah Carey does not like overhead lighting.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
On with Mario Hollywood Buzz.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
So Mariah is living up to her diva reputation. She
is speaking out against overhead lighting. She calls it a
curse that we all live under. Whether it's in an elevator,
a gym, or an office, she wants them turned off.
I love me so Mariah. I always say she's incredibly talented,
just the biggest selling female performer in history. But I've
(00:56):
interviewed her a few times and she has to have
her own lighting. People come and I don't even I
can't even know the number of lights. It's like stadium lighting.
Oh my good, in front of her and I've never
looked so good with this lighting. Can I get this team?
Yeah exactly. It was really impressive. But then you get
there and she's really cool, but she knows what she wants.
Speaker 5 (01:17):
Happy Holidays from the entire on with Mario fam more
fest and.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Fun coming up Mario Courtney Lopez. Here, today's lesson in
music history takes us back to the late eighties when
Phil Collins tried to become a movie star. I'm gonna
reveal it next, Mario Courtney Lopez on this day in history,
thirty six years ago. In nineteen eighty eight, this became
the biggest song in the country.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Ruby kind of loves play More but we don't have time.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
Very slow it is, and you cannot talk about the
eighties without Phil Collins. He was a constant staple. That
song was from the soundtrack to the movie Buster, which
actually start Phil as a petty criminal who gets in
over his head. Ala Mario Corney Lopez. Christmas of course
around the corner. So time for mini pop quiz all
(02:16):
about Christmas. So let's get our hands on the buzzers.
Speaker 2 (02:19):

on the buzzers how many towns in America are named Christmas.
That's Mario.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
I'm gonna say there is seven.
Speaker 2 (02:37):

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Wow, Christmas Michigan, Christmas Indiana, and Christmas Florida.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
There's a Christmas Florida.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
There's not a Christmas Indiana. You're thinking of something from
a movie.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
And there must be like it must be like jingle
bells or Indiana. It's a holiday thing. So wow, there's more.
There's only two.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
You don't get a Christmas. Wait, what was the other one?
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Christmas Michigan, just win Florida, Christmas Michigan and Christmas Florida.
Christmas Florida is ironic.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Indiana has Santa Claus Indiana.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
That's what it was. I knew it was something like
so close.
Speaker 2 (03:11):

Dancing coming to Broadway. Schedule the debut late next year.
It's going to feature some of the iconic songs, of course,
but it's also promising to include new music. Meanwhile, Jennifer Gray,
of course from the original, says a Dirty Dancing sequel
is still a ways off. Lionsgate announced it back in
twenty twenty, but she says the script still isn't right yet,
(04:39):
so there's still hope. Mario Lopez here, we got a

(05:32):
I got some December fourth birthdays to celebrate morew Courtney
Lopez here. Fraser is gonna tell us who's celebrating. We're
gonna try to get the ages Jelly Roll. Jelly is
rolling a roll thirty fifth birthday. No, he's organic, he's
thirty two.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
He's forty.
Speaker 3 (05:48):

Speaker 3 (05:59):
Fifty one. Tyra Banks is fifty two.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
Tyra Banks is fifty one. Ah, jay Z.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
Jay Z is fifty four, fifty five.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Fifty five is correct?
Speaker 3 (06:12):
Oh my god, I'm due for two.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
And she's gonna make a terrible, terrible bridge joke with
this one. Jeff bridges from Big Lebowski, so many amazing projects.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
He's bridging the gap from fifty nine to sixty is
now sixty nine.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
Because you say that you don't deserve.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Hold on the way, say he's bridging the gap from
fifty nine to sixty, he's sixty nine.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
Yes, that was my math.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
Okay, go ahead.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
Sorry, Jeff is seventy.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
One seventy five.
Speaker 3 (06:42):
Wow, he looks good.
Speaker 5 (06:44):
Happy holidays to you and yours. This is on with
Mario Lopez.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
We'll be right back.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
It's twenty one days until Christmas, Mario and Courtney Lopez here.
But the good news is there something to celebrate every day?
What's today's obscure, Hoby, It's National Cookie Day. You know
your mom made cookies the other day. And here's the
thing I realize about fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. I
don't like them fresh out of the oven. I know
(07:10):
a lot of people like them warm and gooey. Yeah,
I like them. I like them to get a little
bit like kind of hard and stale. No, not stale,
but just a little crunchy. And there's a crunch thing
I like about him.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
You like things burnt.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
Yeah, I think that's what it is. Mario Lopez here
has some quick buzz for you. CBS has given us
a special dou Alipa concert for the holiday season. It's
gonna feature a fifty three piece orchestra, a fourteen member choir,
and even Sir Elton John. Wow, that's quite the production.
She filmed the show earlier this month in London. It's
(07:43):
called An Evening with Dua Lipa and it airs on
December fifteenth, Bravo. Hopefully she won't have one of her
disgusting drinks that she likes right before that, Omar Courney
Lopez time to dish out some common sense justice. All
Ross Courtney's Court is now session. This comes from at
Steelheart seventy three. They say, I invited my in laws
(08:05):
to dinner, and my husband's brother wants to bring a date,
but she has dietary restrictions. I feel like that's rude
to inconvenience your host. He should just come by himself.
But my husband says, I'm being too sensitive. Who's right.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
If it's somebody he's serious with, that's one thing. If
it's just somebody he's on a date with. No, I'm
not going to be making special things for Sabrina, who
I'm never going to see again, Sabrina. Or if I
were Sabrina, I.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
Would just come.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
Eat beforehand, eat beforehand, eat what I can, and not
say I have these dietary restrictions.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
I don't think that's fair one time.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
How crazy are the restrictions.
Speaker 4 (08:47):
Yeah, I just don't think it's right, especially your first
time coming there. Like you, you just deal with it.
We had a birthday party years ago and we invited
someone and they had RSVP and said, my son is allergic.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
To blah blah blah blah blah.
Speaker 4 (09:04):
So I went ahead and got special desserts specifically for
him because the parent told me they didn't show up.
I will never do that again.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
No, Yeah, that is. I ate those cupcakes and they
were still delicious.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
Let us know what you think on Twitter and on
with Mario.
Speaker 5 (09:22):
Happy holidays from the entire on with Mario, fam more
fest and fun coming up Mario.

TV and we'll find out all about it after a
few more songs.

from the new Roku project, The Charlie Pooth Show Grammy
nominated artist, mister Charlie Pooth, Welcome to the show man.
Speaker 7 (10:03):

really creative.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
Hey, I like it man. Congratulations. Well, first off, before that,
congrats on the wedding.
Speaker 7 (10:13):
Oh yeah, thank you. Yeah, it's flying by. I can't
believe it was already like a couple of weeks ago.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
So I'm assuming you haven't had a chance to honeymoon yet.
Speaker 8 (10:23):
No, we did. We did it.
Speaker 7 (10:25):
We tried to go under the radar for as long
as we could. I didn't want the world to find
out about the wedding, but we released it early since
I think my own neighbors tried to like leaked it
to Desmois.
Speaker 8 (10:37):
Or something that is what I heard, so why not
share it early?
Speaker 3 (10:41):
Yeah? Well, congratulations man, that's great. And you and your
wife knew each other for a long time, right.
Speaker 7 (10:47):
Yeah, so her father and mother are actually best friends
with my mom and dad.
Speaker 8 (10:52):
They've known each other since they were ten years.
Speaker 7 (10:55):
Old, so it's almost it's on paper looks like an
arranged marriage, but isn't.
Speaker 8 (11:00):
It's it's a match made in heaven.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
Your parents must be so happy. That's so cool.
Speaker 8 (11:05):
Yeah, they really, We're all we're all just related right now.
Speaker 5 (11:09):
I vet.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
Oh, that's awesome, brother, congratulations, welcome to the club. It's wonderful. Well,
I want to talk about your new TV show, but
first play some music. You're all Mario Lopez. My guest
today is Charlie Pooth and coming to Roku Charlie Pooh Show.
What's it about?
Speaker 7 (11:24):
It's about it's kind of an exaggerated take on my life,
and it makes me realize how long I've been in
the music industry and the entertainment industry. And there are
episodes about executives telling me what something should look like,
what something should sound like. But it's it's it's the
(11:47):
truth is stressed just a little bit. But that actually
happens in my career.
Speaker 5 (11:51):
There.
Speaker 7 (11:52):
I got signed and there were a lot of people
who told me what they wanted me to sound like.
Speaker 8 (11:57):
But you always know what's best for you.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
So I like it. I'm getting the impression it's a
little Kurby Your Enthusiasm esque.
Speaker 8 (12:06):
Yeah, that's the obvious, that's the obvious nod.
Speaker 7 (12:08):
But it's really awesome. Have you ever seen Naked Gun before?
L Lauren Nelson?
Speaker 2 (12:13):
Wait, wait, that's real.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
Over the top though.
Speaker 7 (12:15):
It's I like over the top though, and there's some
realness in this show. But obviously I'm not I've never
cosplayed as a country singer.
Speaker 8 (12:26):
I've collaborated with country singers.
Speaker 7 (12:28):
One episode, i decide to take on country music, but
I'm not actually wearing the cowboy hat.
Speaker 8 (12:34):
It's that's that's the easiest way to describe it.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
Got it well? Hold on, Charlie got to take a
break away to talk some.
Speaker 5 (12:39):
More more details It On with Mario, touch on holidays
from the entire On with Mario, fam more Fest.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
And fun coming up, Mario Lopez. Hearing and I have
with Charlie Pooth and your TV show on Roku. Are
you doing a lot of performing on the show? An
you're singing not?
Speaker 8 (12:54):
I mean, there's but like comedy.
Speaker 7 (12:58):
It's really I wanted to separate it from the album
that I'm literally working on right over here, and I
really wanted to have one day this album come out
and then have something like this, which is almost downright
theater like, and have them both play off each other
even though they're two completely separate things.
Speaker 3 (13:19):
It's great, man, We'll good for you. Watch the Charlie
Pooh Show on roco. Let's play more music, Mario Lopez here,
I got Charlie Pooth on Zoom with me and speaking
to music late at Single Hero. What inspired in this
particular song.
Speaker 7 (13:32):
It's just that was just of something that I had
to get out at the time because one of the
biggest artists in the entire world said that I should
be a bigger artist, which I took as a big compliment. Yeah,
and I was like, you know what, this isn't this
song isn't tied to any album or anything, but I
(13:53):
even done one. I I just put it out just
to hold everybody over so I can get everybody ready
for like what's really really common there?
Speaker 8 (14:02):
This has been a crazy, crazy part of the year.
It's really it's really amazing.
Speaker 3 (14:09):
You're all, Mario Lopez hanging out here with Charlie Pooth
and we're a few months away from the tenth anniversary
of your breakthrough single Marvin Gay.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
Did things just totally changed for you after that song
came out? Was it dramatic or was it like a build?
Speaker 7 (14:23):
Yeah? I think one of my first interviews was with yourself,
Mario for that song.
Speaker 8 (14:29):
Yeah, that's right. I can't believe it's been Wow. Has
it really been ten years?
Speaker 1 (14:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (14:35):
Huh, that's a trip, man.
Speaker 7 (14:37):
I feel like I just got signed to my record
deal yesterday.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
And how is the industry change? Would you say in
those ten years? In your opinion?
Speaker 7 (14:47):
I think it's kind of and I do touch on
this point in the show too.
Speaker 8 (14:51):
It's kind of like the overall theme of it.
Speaker 7 (14:54):
You have to not just be a musician nowadays. I mean,
we're any Any artist is inherently an artist, but it's
important to have aspirations to do other things that can
kind of aid in your music making process, Like, for
me making a TV show. I remember seeing an interview
(15:15):
with Billy Joel and a lot of other artists when
they had to start making music videos, and Billy.
Speaker 8 (15:21):
Joel was happy to do it.
Speaker 7 (15:23):
But there are some other artists that were like, we
gotta be actors now and we got to make music videos.
We should just make the music. I always thought that
was the I mean, I wasn't alive, but always thought
that was like the wrong approach.
Speaker 8 (15:34):
It's like, you should want to make a visual component
to music.
Speaker 7 (15:38):
That you're right so, but yeah, I think artists have
to spend a lot of plates nowadays, but not in
like a super thirsty way.
Speaker 8 (15:46):
They should want to be able to do it well.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
Again, congrats on everything and listen be sure to watch
Charlie Poos show now on Roku. Charlie, thanks for hanging man.
Well to see you in person.
Speaker 8 (15:57):
Absolutely, thank you, Mariot, thank you for always.
Speaker 5 (16:00):

content about platonic relationships. The trend's even bigger than a
year ago, when the same study found about fifty to
fifty split on explicit entertainment. Well, as a father to
a teenage daughter, this is fantastic news. I don't know

so much in this music Stevie made over fifty years ago.

Still, that's a clip from the Wonder of Stevie series.
And as you know, he released five albums over a
five year period, from nineteen seventy one's Music of My
Mind to the nineteen seventy six is Songs in the.

good deed. Lopezy of the Week. You're Mario Courtney Lopez.
Every week we shine a spotline on someone who's done
a good deed. Who are we honoring today, honey?
Speaker 4 (19:16):
Raheem Cooper. He is a ups driver in Georgia and
he was recently making deliveries when he noticed a bunch
of grocery scattered across the driveway of a home, so
he went to check it out and found a woman
sprawled out in the pavement. She had fallen and her
head was bleeding. Oh Rahiem called the paramedics and the
woman spent a few days in the ICU. Doctor says
(19:38):
she would have died if nobody helped her. Now Raheem
visits her weekly and they've become fresh.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
Oh Raheem's a good dude. Good things are going to
happen to Raheem. He put out that kind of energy.
