Speaker 1 (00:00):
Come on with Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Here we go. What's up.

Speaker 3 (00:04):
It's Courtney Lopez back in the studio and I'm flying
solo today because Mario had a cancel flight and a
bit of a travel nightmare. Anyway, lots of fun radio
we're going to get into as we continue our countdown
to Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Can you believe it?

Speaker 3 (00:19):
We got some holiday hacks to share in Courtney's corner.
We'll dig into the buzz to see what is trending.
And we're just a few songs away from a quick
musical trip into the past with our throwback soundtrack.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
So turn it up. You're on with me Courtney Lopez.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
Whoa and Fraser.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
And Fraser we don't care about him and knuckles.

Speaker 4 (00:39):
I don't get on the billboard.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
You're on with Courtney Lopez.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Music rolls on right after Fraser gives us a quick
look at some of the new stuff on TV and streaming.

Speaker 5 (00:49):
Season three of the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. It
picks up with the fallout from season two's cheating allegations
against Jesse and continues to explore the fracturing mom talk,
friend group, new babies, and marital issues.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
You know I watched that show maybe five episodes into
the first season.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Maybe I'm just maturing. I don't know, my taste is changing.

Speaker 5 (01:12):
We had Layla Taylor from that show on the other
day and she doesn't seem very Mormon to me. None
of them are, so it's very strange. My nightmare Stalker,
The Eva LaRue Story. It's on Paramount Plus limited series.
It's a two part doc about actress Eva Laruez twelve
year or deal with a stalker who sent her threatening

(01:32):
letters and made harrassing phone calls signed as Freddy Krueger.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
So this is terrifying because her and her daughter went
through this together and twelve years of torture like this, that's.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
I mean, psychologically, that's just crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
With that said, I will be watching this, yeah, of.

Speaker 5 (01:51):
Course, of course yes. And Tifnie Hattis goes Off. It's
a limited series on Peacock. It's a new docu series
that basically follows her and three childhood friends on month
long trip through Africa and discover a bunch of cultural
stuff across the content.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
I am there with you, Tiffany Hattish, take me with you.
You are on with Courtney Lopez reminding you that we
want you to celebrate the holiday season with Mariah Carey's
Christmas Time in Las Vegas.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
At Doby Live at Park MGM.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
We'll take care of everything, including dinner for you and
a friend before the show. All you gotta do is
just tap the contest tab when you are listening to
us on the free iHeartRadio app to entswer or get
your tickets now at ticketmaster dot com.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
So do the holidays make you feel nostalgic?

Speaker 3 (02:36):
You're on with Courtney Lopez, and I said that very softly,
because I feel like nostalgia comes with the softness.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
No doubt most of.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Us get a bit of nostalgic from time to time,
But a new survey says that eighty percent of us
admit today dreaming about the simpler times of Are you
every day when TV was just ten channels, face to
face interactions where the norm and music and movies were
on CD and va ess Some people even saying that
they missed chatting with a store clerk and writing and

(03:04):
receiving handwritten letters.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
What's the last time you got a handwritten letter?

Speaker 2 (03:09):
I don't not a thank you note.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Okay, because I was gonna say just me and my
daughter write thank you notes.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
It's been a minute. Yeah, since I've gotten a handwritten letter.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
Last time was when my brother was kidnapped.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Shut up, you're suscuting now.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
I often think of my childhood and things that happened
when I was young, and I know you do too.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
I see your pictures, You're always like.

Speaker 5 (03:34):
I get super nostalgic now because I feel like, I
don't know if everyone else did this, but my parents
took photos of everything throughout my childhood, and luckily there's
boxes and boxes of them, and every time I go
back home, I always like take photos of them or
scan them or whatever. And now it's like I have
hard drives just full of my childhood, which is amazing.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
And now you know, you are so fortunate and happy
that your parents did that. That's why my kids are like,
why are you taking all these pictures? Because well appreciate
it later they're older and they will appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
So don't stop doing that, parents.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
The countdown at Christmas continues in moments This is On
with Mario.

A Very Jonas Christmas, which hits Disney. Plus tomorrow you
are on with Courtney Lopez. Mario is output the festive
show must go on? Who cares that he's not here?

(04:36):
Celebrity birthdays coming up shortly, lots more music as well
in the meantime, any obscure holidays to celebrate.

Speaker 4 (04:42):
Frazier World Kindness Day.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
Why is this an obscure holiday?

Speaker 4 (04:46):
Well, because it's not a mainstream holiday.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
But why is it obscure? Like it should just.

Speaker 5 (04:51):
Be because most people don't know about it. That's why
we're telling them.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Shouldn't we just be kind?

Speaker 4 (04:55):
Were trying to make it less obscure?

Speaker 5 (04:56):
Okay, because you should be kind every day. But if
you're not than today, you definitely have to be you're not.
I'm the kindest person I know.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
All right.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
Time for today's birthday, shout outs Courtney Lopez. Here, as always,
Fraser is going to tell us who is turning a
year older?

Speaker 2 (05:14):
And I will try and guess the ages alone.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
Yes, Mario does this all the time. When you're not here.
Gerard Butler from three hundred White House Down or one
of those.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Girard is fifty five fifty six, Ah, so close.

Speaker 4 (05:31):
Steve's on for Rescue Don.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
If Steve's on is on Rescue Don.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
He was also in the first season White Lotus. Steve
is fifty six fifty seven one off again. Jimmy Kimmel
Late night host.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
Jimmy is Jimmy Kimmel. Lots of m's in his name.

Speaker 6 (05:52):
He's fifty four sixty two, really sixty two and from
the v and an amazing movie from like nineteen eighty
eight or ninety two or something called Theodore Rex.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
Whoopee Goldberg.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
Whoopye is whopping seventy one seventy.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Happy holidays to you and yours. This is On with
Mario Lopez.

Speaker 6 (06:22):
We'll be right back.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
You are on with Courtney Lopez. No Mario today, who cares.
He had some time by himself. He's having some travel drama,
so he'll be very happy when he gets back.

Speaker 4 (06:35):
I'm sure that was sarcastic.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
But Fraser is here with me so we can make
a quick digital pit stop at Onwithmarrio dot Com to
see what is trending.

Speaker 4 (06:43):
Kristin Cavalari explains why she would never date an actor.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
Kind of shocked by that, considering she's dated a lot
of people.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
I think famous people and some actors.

Speaker 5 (06:52):
I think Lady Gaga stops mid performance to help out
a distress fan in her crowd.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
Why is this happening more and more often?

Speaker 5 (06:59):
It seems like almost every week there's some concert where
someone's like passing out or something and the artist is
like stopping to help. The Jonas brothers break down. How
a healthy amount of bullying keep them close.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
I think they're.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
Probably like any other siblings, where they just like go
after each other and have fun.

Speaker 5 (07:14):
It's the same way that my brother and sister used
to terrify me with Freddy Krueger' stuff when I was
a child, exactly. And you can see Benson Boone's hilarious
response to being snubbed by the Grammys.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
More details and on with Mario dot Com. Happy Holidays
from the entire on with Mario fam More fest and
fun coming up.

Speaker 3 (07:30):

tunes before you know it, But first we are digging
into our mentions to see what's on your mind. You're
on with Courtney Lopez and we're back to the music
before you know it, but first digging into our mentions
to see what's on your mind. So Frasier find anything good.

Speaker 5 (08:44):
This is from at Lacy long Legs since Mario's out
and he can't get defensive. What is the most memorable
Christmas gift Mario has ever given you.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
You can't get diffensive.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
Um, No, you know that's not true, honey.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
Honestly, I think the very first memorable Christmas gift he
gave me was the first Christmas we spent together when
I lived in la at the house that we lived
in together.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
It was this.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
Beautiful bracelet that I wear now only on special occasions.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
I'll wear it.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
I think I wore to the Emmys a couple of
weeks ago. Okay, but that's probably the because it's the
first like not big, not gift that he gave.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
Me, but first leg meaningful. Yeah, we were with his
fig You're getting serious.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
His family was there opening presents with us, so I.

Speaker 5 (09:39):
Would say that, And now is Christmas one of your holidays?
I forget you only get two?

Speaker 3 (09:44):
No, So actually that was the last gift I got,
and that was two thousand and nine.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
So memorable and only Mario Lopez will be right back.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
You are on with Courtney Lopez quickly saying congrats again
to all of our five thousand dollars win and iheartradios,
Thank a teacher and of course powered by Donors Shoes.
There's still time for you to nominate a public school
teacher making a difference, and maybe give them a gift
of being one of our next winners a five grand
to make over their classroom.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
That's amazing.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
Help us say thank you to the educators shaping our future.

dot com slash teachers. All right, keeping all this great
music coming your way as we get ready for a

Hack or two.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
Courtney Lopez here and Cordo's Corner is.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
Coming up next.

Speaker 4 (10:37):
Don't move.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
It's Courtney Lopez here and time for some Thanksgiving life hacks.
Turkey Day is just fifteen days away. And if you're
looking for ways to keep all of your guests entertained,
here's a few ideas.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Frazier, whatch you.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
Get set up a kids table?

Speaker 5 (10:53):
You can designate a separate space for kids with activities
to keep them entertained, like coloring and stuff like that.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
Hopefully they don't take the crayon to your walls, though
that's true.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
I usually do this, but in a neighbor's house.

Speaker 5 (11:05):
Yeah no, it's a good idea. Put them in the
neighbor's backyard. Organize a Thanksgiving bingo or scavenger hunt. You
can create bingo cards with Thanksgiving related words or set
up a pumpkin scavenger hunt to engage guests of all ages.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
Wouldn't mind doing this at a house that I go to?

Speaker 5 (11:20):
Yeah, Like, if it's not your house, you participate, Just
not set it up.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
I don't want to do it.

Speaker 5 (11:25):
And start a family history session. Ask older family members
to share stories about how they celebrated in the past.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
This can be a meaningful way to connect.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
You know what. I love this.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
My kids are always asking to hear stories from my childhood,
my mom's childhood.

Speaker 5 (11:41):
I will tell you now too, as someone who who
has lost both of their parents already ask questions and
gets stories now, because when they're gone, you will find
yourself wanting to know so many things.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
And write it down, and write it all down so
you don't.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
Forget so many things.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
Videotape them telling the stories exactly.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
I've been told some of the same stories over and over,
and I don't know why I can't like it doesn't.

Speaker 4 (12:02):
It doesn't Stickick doesn't stick.

Speaker 5 (12:04):
And create a fun playlist you make confestive playlists to
keep the mood light and control the music. So if
you go to Mario's house, so this is gonna be yacht.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
Rock, yacht rock with a little twinkle twinkle underlying it. Yeah,
twinkle twinkle not even a Christmas song.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
No, forget it, it works.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
The countdown at Christmas continues in moments. This is on
with Mario Lopez.

Why did the turkey get detention? Why for using foul
language and back to the music we go.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
I don't get it.

Speaker 4 (13:21):
It's a bird.

Speaker 5 (13:22):
Turkey's a foul like chickens, turkeys and all their fowl
they call them fowl.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
Oh you know that well this is also a lesson.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
All right, Time for random question. Courtney Lopez here, what
do you got, Fraser?

Speaker 5 (13:38):
Would you rather eat leftovers for an entire month or
eat only Thanksgiving food for the rest of your life?

Speaker 3 (13:44):
Leftovers for a month, okay, because I hardly eat it.

Speaker 5 (13:48):
It's only a month and it's only in the rest
of your life could be decades, although I can.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
I mean it is.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
Good sweet potato yams every day.

Speaker 4 (13:55):
Wouldn't you get tired of it eventually?

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
