No, you shouldn't. But it is family friendly. It is
something that you could binge over the holidays, so it
works during that timeframe. But there's nothing Christmasy.
Speaker 5 (00:49):
About it except when they celebrate Christmas in the movies.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
Yes, you know what I'm gonna watch.

not all of them should be, but one or two

for it.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
Yes, that's her real name, Dana Dana Latifa. No, I
think it's like Dana Jones.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
Oh, okay, yes.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Mario Courtney Lopez here, let's put a spotlight on my
wife and get Courtney's random thought. What you got, honey.
Speaker 4 (03:44):
I don't know why I thought about this, but people
don't moon each other.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
The way they used to moon. You mean flash?
Speaker 3 (03:51):
Yeah, but yeah, that was a very fifties thing, or
at least it appeared that way because of the movie Grease.
Speaker 5 (03:57):
That was a go to move.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
How's a go to move back in the day.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
You're right, I do this a lot.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
What oh like Girls Gone Wild?
Speaker 2 (04:04):
You just flash?
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Is that your move?
Speaker 4 (04:05):
I did it to your mom.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
Let's keep it to like my mom my sister. That
is I did.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
This is random. You're right.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Moon used to be the way to go. I'm trying
to think the last time. I don't think I've ever
mooned anybody. And it used to be prominent in films, Yes,
Porky's Grease, it was in films that move.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Do we bring it back? What's up?
Speaker 4 (04:26):
I think you just need to not.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
I need to chill, you need to not. I don't
care what other people do. Okay, and Courtney Lopez and
pickleball come into.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
Streaming Mario Lopez Hollywood.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
But so pickleball has become the fastest growing sport in
the country. And I mentioned the other day that over
three hundred and fifty million dollars are spent on pickleball injuries,
which is which is wild because it's not a contact sport.
But that hurky jerky movement, Yeah, does a number on knees,
(04:59):
ankles and hips one now oh sorry, it hankled and
knees and tis well. Now it's coming to Roku and
tub called the Wager.
Speaker 4 (05:07):
Host Jason Kennedy and his pickleball partner take on celebrities
like Taylor Lautner, Access Daily's own Kit Hoover and Colton Underwood.
The teams make bets before each match, including charitable donations
or embarrassing social media posts.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Yeah, this has really become a big deal over America
for sure. I don't know how if it's impacted the
world as much. Ironically, I'm about to announce soon something
in the pickleball space. And I don't even really play pickleball,
or at least I never have, sober, but stay tuned.
Speaker 4 (05:41):

Mario Lopez.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
We'll be right.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
Back, Mario Lopez. Here is some quick buzz for you.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
Actor Tom Holland is gonna have a very busy twenty
twenty five. Where it is he's gonna start alongside Matt
Damon in the next movie from Christopher Nolan. Apparently it's
a top secret project Universal, keeping the title and plot
under lock and key. Tom will also be filming Spider
Man four in the next Avenger sequel, so it sounds
like he's gonna have a pretty big year. Congrats to him.
(07:54):
All right, let's get back to the music. It's up
Mario Lopez joining me now on Zoom. From the new
NBC drama Brilliant Minds. Actress Zachary Quinta, Welcome to the.
Speaker 7 (08:15):
Show Man, Thank you, good to see you again.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
Nice to see you too. We recently saw each other
in New York. I believe the the show it was
for upfront, say when you were you were about to
present it and stuff, and I was with my with
my wife, who's very proud of you. We were just
talking about all the wonderful talent that comes out of Pittsburgh.
Speaker 8 (08:35):
Yeah, I've known each other since I was I think
I was eleven and she was probably nine or something. Yeah,
it's really it's a long road that brings us back around.
Speaker 7 (08:45):
So it's nice to be reconnected.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
She always said, You've always been very talented. That's cool
to see you.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
Keep killing it.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
Well, I want to talk to you about your new
show on NBC before us to play some more.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
Music you, Mario Lopez. I've got Zachary.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
Quinto on zoom with me from Brilliant Minds, and congrats.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
On the new show.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
By the way, this looks like a different take on
a medical drama, right, what's the premise.
Speaker 8 (09:08):
Well, it's based on a real life doctor called Oliver Sachs,
who was a world renowned, iconic and iconoclastic neurologist.
Speaker 7 (09:18):
He worked in primarily twentieth century. He died in twenty
fifteen at the.
Speaker 8 (09:23):
Age of eighty three, and so we used his life
and his writing as the springboard for this show. He
was considered by The New York Times the poet Laureate
of medicine because he wrote many, many books and case
studies about his patients. He was voraciously motivated by understanding
(09:46):
who his patients were, and helping them find and preserve
their dignity in the face of diseases and disorders and
injuries and conditions that present them with adversities that may
never result.
Speaker 7 (10:00):
So a lot of the cases on our show aren't fixable, right.
Speaker 8 (10:04):
These are cases that you know, people are never going
to necessarily return to the normal that they might have
been used to. And so I think a huge part
of our show is exploring the idea of adaptation and
evolution and how do you still find purpose and joy
and meaning in life when your circumstances are irrevocably changed
(10:30):
in a way that many people.
Speaker 7 (10:32):
Would see as insurmountable.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
That is a fascinating premise, And I unfortunately know a
couple of people in the predicament where they've had to
sort of adjust their lifestyle in general because there is
no quote care, it's just a matter of treating it,
adapting in the mindset. And they're very positive people too,
So I'm going to tell them to check this out.
Really minds Airs Monday's on NBC. Let's take a break
(10:57):
that I have more was Zachary Quinto.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Moments more Mario Lopez coming up.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
Mario Lopez here talking about the new NBC show Brilliant
Minds with actress Sachary Quinto, and I remember when we
spoke briefly last time too, you said the medical jargon
was quite challenging.
Speaker 8 (11:14):
Yeah, that's a lot of there's a lot of complex language.
Speaker 7 (11:18):
But I love that.
Speaker 8 (11:20):
That to me is something that I really and we
have a great team of advisors and consultants and doctors
and nurses who help us, you know, really lean into
the authenticity of those conversations and those scenarios on the show.
Speaker 7 (11:34):
So yes, it is uh, you know.
Speaker 8 (11:37):
When when playing a character for whom that kind of
language is second nature, and then it becomes important to
be able to have a relationship to it where it.
Speaker 7 (11:45):
Can just roll off the tongue. Yeah, but I have
that challenge.
Speaker 8 (11:47):
I love language, and I love I love connecting to language,
and this show and this role have given me the
opportunity to do that all the time.
Speaker 7 (11:58):
So it's great.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
Well really, Mine Airs mondays on NBC. Hold on, Zachary
got to play more music Mario Lopez here And I
was after Zachary Quinto from the new show Brilliant Minds,
and in the trailer, uh, it shows you diving into
the Hudson River. Did you really do that?
Speaker 7 (12:13):
I did not, thankfully.
Speaker 8 (12:17):
Through the magic of television and special effects, which I
guess so many people have asked me if I've actually
swam in the Hudson River.
Speaker 7 (12:23):
So I guess that's a you know, real kudos to
our special scene because they made it look pretty believable.
But no, that was a very warm pool in Toronto.
O nice. Good, go ahead.
Speaker 8 (12:35):
Worry about the pollution of the US for that matter.
But all of his sacks swam in the Hudson on
a regular basis, multiple times a week. He he he
lived on City Island in New York, and he would
go to the river and he would swim in there almost.
Speaker 7 (12:50):
Every morning of life.
Speaker 8 (12:51):
So you know, every aspect of the character that I
play is actually uh true of the real life person.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
Wow, very original, very original. I look forward to checking
it out. You can watch Brilliant Minds Mondays on NBCRI.
Let's play some more music. You're al Mario Lopez. My
guess is actor Zachary Quinto. Zach What about the Star
Trek universe? Were we going to see you spak again?
Speaker 7 (13:15):
I don't know.
Speaker 8 (13:16):
I don't think I'm the person to ask about that,
you know, I mean, it's interesting because it's been such
a powerful part of my experience freedidly, professionally and personally.
My relationship with Leonard Nimoy, you know, was so profound.
Leonard and I met in two thousand and seven. We
needed the first movie, and we developed a very powerful
(13:37):
bond and friendship for the last decade of his life.
And I got to become incredibly close with his wife,
Susan Nimoy. And in a full circle moment, Susan Nimoy
actually stars on one of the episodes of Brilliant Mind.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
Oh wow, that's cool.
Speaker 8 (13:52):
Brought it up to the show because she was an
actress like thirty five years ago. And then you know,
you know, Mary Leonard met Leonard and pursued many they're
incredible aspects of her life and acting kind of fell away.
And then after Leonard passed, she actually wrote and directed
and starred in a short film that was quite beautiful
and really bold and brave, and I watched it and
(14:15):
I thought, wow, like, you know, I learned this whole
other aspect.
Speaker 7 (14:19):
Of my friend who I'd known for so long.
Speaker 8 (14:21):
And then I saw how talented she was and when
I read this episode of the show, it was so
tied to the story of her short film.
Speaker 7 (14:30):
The characters were so similar, their experiences were so similar.
Speaker 8 (14:33):
And I called our showuner, Michael Grassy, and I said, like,
I just want to put this out there. I don't
know if you'd be open to it, and I don't
know if she'd be open to it, but you know,
would you be interested in maybe considering Susan for this role?
Speaker 7 (14:45):
And then I called Susan and said.
Speaker 8 (14:47):
I don't know if you're into this or if you're
even looking for something like this, would you be interesting?
Speaker 7 (14:51):
You know? So yeah, so Star Trek comes back around.
Speaker 8 (14:54):
Even though let me do with Star Trek right, it's
still like influencing my life the ripples, and so I
have nothing.
Speaker 7 (15:00):
But gratitude for that experience.
Speaker 8 (15:02):
The creatively Spock is, you know, one of the most
iconic characters that I've played.
Speaker 7 (15:07):
And I would love to go back.
Speaker 8 (15:09):
You know, my friendship with Chris is Chris Pine is
something that existed before we did the movies and then only.
Speaker 7 (15:16):
Deepened and continues now. And I think all of us
would love to come back. But I don't know.
Speaker 8 (15:22):
I don't know if there's an appetite for it. I
don't know if there's a I don't know, but we'll see.
So so for me, it's like I would love it,
and I'm also entirely not attached to it, so I
hope so.
Speaker 7 (15:34):
But time will tell, time really tell.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
We'll put that out.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
That's a nice little least rigg that we get to
see on your show, though, Well, hold on, I got
to take a break. We're gonna wrap it up with
Zachary Quinto in just a moment.
Speaker 6 (15:43):
You're the full interview now on with Mario dot Com.
More Mario Lopez on the way.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
Mario Lopez, You're wrapping things up with today's guest, Zachary Quinto.
And last question, Zach, I saw a video on IG
of you playing the banjo. Yeah, is that a recent
thing or no.
Speaker 8 (15:57):
I've been playing the banjo for I started playing the
banjo twelve years ago.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
Twelve years so you and Steve Martin, Well.
Speaker 8 (16:05):
Steve Martin is a huge inspiration for me. I've always
been an enormous admirer of his work and felt some
kind of just connection to him.
Speaker 7 (16:16):
And I don't know. And the banjo, Yeah, I always
loved the sound of it.
Speaker 8 (16:20):
And you know, I was about to start the second
season of American Horse Story, and I thought, you know,
I need a hobby.
Speaker 7 (16:27):
I need something to do on set.
Speaker 8 (16:29):
You know, when you're on set, there's so many hours
of downtime, and I needed something that I could pick
up and put down. It's hard for me to kind
of immerse myself in something else on set, Like it's
difficult to.
Speaker 7 (16:39):
Read because right, yeah, so you know a lot.
Speaker 8 (16:43):
That's why I think a lot of people like knit
or do you know, crochet or crossword puzzles.
Speaker 7 (16:47):
There's something you can pick up and put down, right.
Speaker 8 (16:49):
And I'd always wanted to play an instrument, and I
thought like, well, everybody plays the guitar, right, and so
I just thought I'm gonna play the banjo. So I
started in twenty twelve, and it's been a really wonderful,
constant companion for me. It's very meditative. It's not about performing,
it's about, you know, like an outlet, like noodling around
(17:12):
and meditating.
Speaker 7 (17:13):
And yeah, it's really it's really been fun.
Speaker 3 (17:14):
I enjoyed talking to you, Matn. Congratulations on everything. I
hope I get to see you in person and listen.
Brilliant Minds Airs Mondays on NBC. Be sure to check
it out.
Speaker 7 (17:24):
Zach, thanks getting them after the voice.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
Yes, oh, that's the heck of a lead in leading.
Good leading right there.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
You're they have a lot of faith, then, my friend,
that's a good sign.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
You too, man, Take.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
Care what I'm Mario Courtney Lopez here in the City
of Brotherly Love is getting its ultimate sitcom crossover. Abbot
Elementary and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia are making a
special episode together.
Speaker 4 (17:49):
Oh wow, that's pretty cool. The actors say, this script
is so funny it should be illegal. No word yet
on exactly when it will air. They're just now filming it.
Speaker 3 (17:59):
That's interesting, bec because that's on ABC, and I believe
It's Always Sunny is on FX correctxx.
Speaker 5 (18:05):
Actually, now I believe two different networks is my point.
They're so different styles of comedy that I've never seen.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
A show do a crossover not on the same network.
Speaker 5 (18:13):
Both are funny, but it's weird, but there is no connection, right.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
Well not, I'm just saying.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
Normally, legally, they don't let you do anything on another work.
You get all those Law and Order or SDU crossovers
because they're on the same network, different networks. That's bizarre work.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
So that ABC.
Speaker 5 (18:29):
Is Disney, and Disney has a lot of FX stuff
on newdkaplus that maybe maybe that's the connection.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
Maybe that's a connection.
Speaker 2 (18:37):
There we go. You'a Mario Courtney Lopez, top of your comments.
What'd you find, honey?
Speaker 4 (18:43):
This is from at John Felix forty nine, and he said,
I spend twenty six years of my life sleeping and
the other fifty two years just being tired.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
John Felix forty nine is probably referring to a post
I made where I read the average person spends twenty
six years of their life sleeping, to which I said, best,
twenty six years of my life. Isn't that crazy if
you think about it.
Speaker 4 (19:07):
But it doesn't feel like I never feel anything.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
It never feels like it. But when they said I'll
rest when I'm dead, the irony is if you don't
get enough sleep, you will die. You'll meet that demise.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
Much quicker, Mario Lopez will be right back.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
Mario Courtney Lopez. Here was some quick buzz for you.
Netflix ending the nineties nostalgia. They are canceling that Nighty
Show after two seasons. Of course, that was a sequel
to the seventies show from the nineties.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
So okay, well.
Speaker 4 (19:34):
It may not be the end of the road just yet.
Actors kurtwood Smith and Deborah Joe Rupp says producers will
be looking for another network or streamer to pick it up,
so hopefully they will.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
We'll see Mario Lopez here, my wife, Courtney. We got
something new in our inbox. We love hearing from your
courtesy the talk back button on the iHeartRadio app. This
is all the way from Ohio and his Beanie absolutely
loved the station, love the mix of music, and I
like the fact that there's real DJs.
Speaker 7 (20:02):
Thank you so very much.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
We have very polite listeners.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
I agree, and I you know, it makes me happy
because we sit here in front of a microphone and
we don't really see the people on the other side,
so it's nice to hear that.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
It is nice to hear them. Thank you for the
message beinging.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
We appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (20:17):

Speaker 4 (20:22):

and Courtney Lopez.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
Time not for one last thing, we.
Speaker 3 (20:31):
Were talking about one hit wonders, so I thought we'd
break down our mount rushmore of one hit wonders. Now
we're doing all time, not by era, right, it's all times.
Speaker 2 (20:41):

Speaker 1 (20:43):
With Mario Lopez, that's rank.
Speaker 2 (20:46):

Speaker 3 (20:48):
Who do you got?
Speaker 4 (20:49):
Honey?
Speaker 3 (20:49):
In no particular order, just off the top of my head,
I've said it a bunch. You know, what I think
is the best one hit wonder the last twenty years
is got Someone I used to know? I mean, isn't
that a this to just an awesome, different, haunting song.
Speaker 4 (21:03):
They came out swinging and then he.
Speaker 5 (21:05):
Did just Thankfully he hasn't followed it up with any
of that.
Speaker 3 (21:07):
He hasn't, but man, that one is great. So I'm
gonna go that one in my amount rushmore. Then I'm
going to take it back a couple of decades and
I'm gonna go Tainted Love by Soft Cell That is
an eighties classic now that still gets a lot of
radio play till.
Speaker 5 (21:22):
This day, but also in the Coneheads movie.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
Yes, I feel like the eighties is the decade of
the one hit one.
Speaker 5 (21:28):
There are some amazing ones.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
He there are, for.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
Example, I could also say, come on Eileen by Dexi's
Midnight Run. They're all on your playlist exactly.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
So those so those are three?
Speaker 5 (21:39):
Those are three more?
Speaker 4 (21:41):
Oh man, those are And I feel like these songs
are not one hit wonders because they are so played
out on his playlist that.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
It is crazy to hear them so much.
Speaker 4 (21:50):
I hear them so much.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
I'm gonna have to go with something else that's on
my playlist, and it is more on the R and
B side.
Speaker 4 (21:58):
I'm too Sexy. You play all the time?
Speaker 3 (22:00):
Yeah, No, I do not play that all the time,
but I do play. We don't have to take a
close off to have a good time. Jermaine Stewart's jam
That was you know what? I piggybacked that on though another.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
One hit wonder.
Speaker 5 (22:17):
I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
Then I'm gonna take another one off.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
No, I'm gonna take off Comin Eileen, because I'm gonna
have two classic Rocks and two R and B. Just
got paid by Johnny Camp, just got paid Friday nine.
But his fun thing because again, all those songs still
get love to this day and are on my playlist.
I'm very happy with my mount.
