Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're on with Mario A little bits everyone, Maril Courtney
Lopezz joining us now on Zoom from the Real Housewives
of New York City. Brin Whitfield, Welcome to the show, Bren.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
How are you hello? Thank you for having me, Thanks
for taking the time. This is your second season on
the show. How are you feeling about having the cameras
in your face constantly? And are you approaching it different
this season?
Speaker 3 (00:23):
She's a natural.
Speaker 4 (00:25):
Well, I just got a new dog at her name Sugar,
and she's and she's wild.
Speaker 5 (00:31):
Having the cameras in your face. It's like you get
more used to it. It's funny.
Speaker 4 (00:35):
The first last year, like the very first time that
ever started filming, you literally think the first twenty minutes,
I mean, you know this, you're a pro at this.
For me, it was like this is never gonna work right. Like,
you notice them, you're very aware of them, You're very
self conscious. You're like adjusting yourself about twenty thirty minutes in.
The problem actually is is that you don't notice them
(00:56):
anymore and you forget that they're there, you know. So
it's uh, yeah, it's a it's a wild ride, but
it's it's very it's been fun.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Yeah, you get a little too comfortable sometimes, yeah, well
a little.
Speaker 5 (01:07):
A little too comfortable for sure? For sure?
Speaker 4 (01:09):
Can I just say I also wait time out. I'm
like been dying all day. I texted like thirteen of
my middle school friends. Can I take a picture really quick?
Speaker 1 (01:18):
You got it?
Speaker 5 (01:19):
I know this really drives you nuts. I've only been
like kind of people know me for like two days.
I'm Gonnada, but.
Speaker 4 (01:28):
There's a million like my high school like group chat
right now is like when I say freaking out, freaking out,
I'm like the biggest fan.
Speaker 5 (01:37):
Oh, thank you so much, like actually nervous.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
Oh that's sweet. Well tell everybody I said, Hi, do.
Speaker 5 (01:43):
You get that all the time?
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Once in a while, all the time.
Speaker 5 (01:47):
Okay, you meet your ding mass all the time. That's nice.
You can go on.
Speaker 4 (01:52):
Well, I'm like, no legend. I'm like gonna go to
my high school reunions. It's picture and me like I
made it and then I'm least.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
So this is the second season for you, and I
love the new cast. You guys are awesome, very very happy.
The last episode, you were seen facetiming with your ex fiance. Yeah,
is he still in the picture, what's going on with that?
Speaker 4 (02:16):
You know, There's there's one question I get all the time, like,
I mean maybe you know, look, I'm trying to do
my part of bringing there's.
Speaker 5 (02:23):
All you know in our group.
Speaker 4 (02:25):
I love our group, but you know a lot of
you know, the in the friend group, they don't necessarily
want to share their partners, you know, and I try
to always. I remember Bravo con fan saying like, just
please share everything, the good and the bad, share everything
and show everything. So I was like, Okay, I will
bring ex boyfriends out of the woodwork for you guys.
Speaker 5 (02:43):
I'm flying my brother in Brisil and I'm calling ex
boy friend's ex fiancees.
Speaker 4 (02:48):
No, but Gideon is great. He's absolutely lovely, and he's
not in a relationship. So I feel like, after look
when you're with someone for seven years old, I'm older,
he's older. I feel like at this point in our lives,
so I guess maybe in a way, you don't even
have the luxury anymore, being like I can just stack
up xs like X, Y and Z, like after you
(03:08):
spend so much time in families, know each other and whatnot,
It's like if we can both have a healthy friendship
or whatnot. I think I think it's a good thing.
So I A, he's a very very amazing ex I
have a few exes that aren't married that are just
really really incredible men. And I think after dating in
New York, for as long as I have, I will
(03:29):
hold on to any of the good.
Speaker 5 (03:31):
Ones if they're willing to stick around.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
What is a dating life like in New York? You
said at one time it was sad and pathetic.
Speaker 5 (03:38):
How long do you have that?
Speaker 1 (03:41):
It's interesting to hear that.
Speaker 5 (03:42):
I go back and.
Speaker 4 (03:43):
Forth, like somebody, did you see about the study that
came out about dating in New York?
Speaker 5 (03:48):
It was ranked the worst place to date. That's surprising here.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
I was just gonna say, first of all, it's good
that you're friends with your exes. That says a lot
about your if you're still friendly with them. But we
met in New York, and I found New York, as
opposed to LA, to be the best place to be single,
because you're constantly in contact with people, and there's so
many people obviously, but you're you're here in LA. You're
kind of stuck in your car and you just got
to go to your little bubble in your eyes. But
(04:11):
there you're always meeting people. There's something going on literally
every day, So that's surprising to hear.
Speaker 5 (04:17):
Yeah, it's okay.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
So I've dated in both LA and New York, and
I do prefer New York for exactly what you're explaining.
Like dating in New York it's almost it's impossible. You
literally run into people constantly. You run into people you know,
you run into people you don't know, you bump into them,
and it's like there's it feels like there's much more
of a pool, just because you're.
Speaker 5 (04:35):
Constantly surrounded with people, by around people.
Speaker 4 (04:38):
When I dated in Los Angeles, I remember I dated
the guy we're dating, I mean stuff at his house,
met his parents, you know, maybe a couple times drunk
in the moments, slipped the L word and like like
my rus six months in.
Speaker 5 (04:55):
And I don't know it was a work function, ar
what it was.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
And I was like, yes, this is my boyfriend and
he was like babe, like you know, like we're not
like you mean, your parents, like your house, like the
level of you can do all the relationship things, but
you still don't have the title.
Speaker 5 (05:10):
You know, it's like LA. Dating in LA is definitely,
that was tough.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
We were you posting about each other? Were you guys
in each other's social.
Speaker 4 (05:21):
No, oh, I haven't done that in years. I'm not crazy.
I haven't done that in years.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
You know, it's real when you when you start posting
on each other, that's when that's when you know, it's like, that's.
Speaker 5 (05:30):
That's when that's funny. That's even the best.
Speaker 4 (05:32):
Don't you love that with Frenza? When then they take
it down or disappear, you haven't such on someone and
you look back and you see a lot of the
pictures that were gone and it's just them and you're
they're just dating that you know that person. But yeah,
I learned a long time ago, no more soft launches,
because then you have to you put it out there,
but then you have to answer for it.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Yeah, huh interesting.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
Interesting, Well, the feud with uber inside it did not
seem to get resolved. Excuse me in my throat, losing
my voice. Is there a chance of a reconciliation or
has that ship sailed?
Speaker 4 (06:06):
Yeah? I feel like, look, I I it's it's like
anything else, right, friends, family, there's always that hope there.
I think that any one that would say no absolutely
not adoors close to something forever is is not doing
them or themselves justice or doesn't really have hope in
like the human condition and people and growth. I think,
you know, in this process, things happen. You you watch
(06:29):
it back and you were like, that's that was missing
or they didn't you know, did that conversation. There was
more to that conversation, and there's a whole lot of
context of that, and that person's recollection is far different
brand that two am conversation from mine, you know, and
so you're like, we remember things differently and things happened differently.
So it's been hard watching it back. I really struggled
(06:51):
the first few weeks of filming, and now watching it
back is even harder seeing that it's just very much
different from recollection.
Speaker 5 (07:02):
Last week I.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
Posted a few things on Instagram because there are some
things like saying, oh, I just I didn't respond to
someone I for everything. I have receipts, you know, and
I just posted, yes I did, I after being screamed
at in public. I didn't do disrespectful thing. I did
a self respecting thing. And I just you know, waited
till Monday. You know, we did forty hours to take
a breather and then sent a very lovely message back
(07:23):
like so there's just a lot of that. We're watching
it back and I'm like seeing something playing on TV
and then I look at my phone and have the
exact opposite proof and I'm like, Okay, I guess that's
what reunions are for.
Speaker 5 (07:33):
You know. So those receipts.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
A little later this month, and.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
I think it is like a members like Kinkos, Like,
what's the thing nowadays? I don't even I don't even
know printer. I need to get like a printer. I'm
going to get a three D printer. I'll be the
first housewife that brings three D print off of receipts.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
That's good. You're gonna be spending the night on the
streets to raise money for youth homelessness.
Speaker 5 (07:56):
Wow, yeah, what's that? Yeah? It's incredible.
Speaker 4 (08:00):
So Covenant has an amazing organization that I worked with
with some time, and it's something that's just near and
dear to me. There's so many youth that they help,
so almost nearly sixty thousand a year or they help
youth that face home homelessness and home and security, and
Covenant House is just amazing. There's locations, you know, all
across the world, and they're here, you know, open twenty
(08:20):
for seven so twenty four hours a day, seven days
a week. Teens can come in, youth can come in
for for any reason, and they can provide you know,
in addition to a warm bed and a meal, but
also education, mental health services, legal services. So for me
giving up my bed for one night, you know, it's
not to oh, let's experience homelessness or something like that.
It's it's just in solidarity with them. And I can
(08:42):
do that for one night and you know, sleep outside
and help to raise awareness and funds and whatever.
Speaker 5 (08:47):
It's it's completely worth it. I just I love them.
Speaker 4 (08:49):
I've had the opportunity to volunteer and spend so much
time with the kids at the campus here in New York,
and they're just they're freaking fantastic.
Speaker 5 (08:57):
So good for you that I love that.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
Well, you recently moved to a new apartment. What neghborhood
are you in? Now? I love it.
Speaker 5 (09:05):
We're Sugar with Shugs.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
Do you guys know of any really like chic like
dog trainers because we're on number three or four with
Sugar and it's wow.
Speaker 5 (09:16):
Getting a little salty sugar.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (09:21):
Yeah, so yeah, we.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
Don't what kind of dog, by the way, what kind
of dog?
Speaker 5 (09:28):
English Springer Spaniel?
Speaker 4 (09:30):
Wow?
Speaker 5 (09:30):
Yeah? Yeah, do you have a dog?
Speaker 1 (09:32):
We got three?
Speaker 5 (09:33):
So yeah, three? What are their names?
Speaker 1 (09:36):
We've got Salvador, Oscar, and Mookie.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
Mooky's got a lot of attitude and I think I'm
already in love with Oscar.
Speaker 5 (09:45):
That's so cute, funny.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
Mooky does have a lot of these. He gets the
time out a lot, exactly. He's the one we need
to work on, right there. You always been are you
from New York?
Speaker 5 (09:54):
Have you always been in New York? I grew up
in Indiana.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
I grew up in Indiana and then work and spent
time in Los Angeles and then also.
Speaker 5 (10:02):
In New York.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
Okay, but that's home now.
Speaker 5 (10:05):
Yeah, yeah, New York's been home. Nice.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
