Speaker 1 (00:01):
Mario a little bit. Mario Lopez joining me out on Zoom. Actor, comedian,
my guy, Chris get Tam, Welcome to the show. How
are you, budd, I'm doing great, man, how are you?
I'm doing well. Always good to see a get a
big little smile on my face and and happy to
hear about your new movie. Congratulations. By the way, Famous
is the is the name of it. This one looks

(00:22):
pretty serious. So Chris, what's the premise, Well, it is
it's a it's a drama. So yeah, you know, I
play a film director that uh, you know is uh
it's about you know, actors, young kids becoming famous, you
know in the early nineties and what they have to
go through, you know, as as human beings and how

(00:43):
being famous affects them, you know. And uh, I play
this film director that is uh, you know, concerned about
one of the main actors, and uh, you know I was,
you know, I excited to do it because like, you know,
the director, this guy, Michael Leoni, is uh really great
and his vision for it was like really outstanding. You
know the fact that it was a play I don't

(01:06):
you know, but it wasn't it the crest Well, okay,
but you may know that areas in Santam it's on
Santa Marca in West Hollywood. It was playing at the
Stare that's really great, and it was running for a
long time, and so it's the same he shot it
in uh in the in the theater. So but it

(01:27):
looks like, you know, it looks like it wasn't a
shot in the theater. I can't explain it now. It
it's just like the way it's shot is just so
well done and and his vision for it was so
outstanding that it was like, oh, I love to be
part of this, and uh, you know, it's just it's
a rare kind of film that makes it very Uh

(01:48):
I don't know. I think it's really important for people
to see, uh, not just because of domestic but also uh,
the you know, just the approach that the actors had.
Uh there were so you know clicked and so ready
to go because they've been doing this played for so
long for a year at that long, but like you know,
imagine a movie having pre production for a year and

(02:09):
then they get up into actual production. So it was
really cool to be part of that, you know. So
that's what I want to get into it. This premise.
Um uh strikes a chord with me because early young
actors getting famous in the night. He's I'm like listening
to it, like wow, I'm I'm I gotta see this.
I gotta see how you've been. You've been around for

(02:32):
I mean, like I was the same end. You still
look exactly, You've never aged, God blessed, remarkable. Oh no,
that's so nice. But I was listening to early un
like what you told me. You're from, you know, from
last you just started last week. It would makes sense
because it looks so good all the time. Every time

(02:53):
I see I'm like, why is Mario always looks so
damn good? My man, my man, my favorite of all. No,
but seriously, I'm gonna check this out. Congratulations on that.
That's awesome. Thanks, Yeah, but that that. I'm excited about
another thing called Hey Catan, which I just launched or
we launched on YouTube. Everys watching YouTube, So just gonna

(03:16):
ask you about that again. Is that a sketch comedy show?
Is it's like digital videos like pretty much. I mean
they're shorts, and you know, I get the opportunity to
write them. I'm writing them and directing them, and that's
really cool and I have a great, great crew and uh,
you know, we're just we just launched it. And it's
called Hey Katan because you know that's because when everybody

(03:39):
sees me on the street or whatever, they always you
hey Catan. Whatever. We thought like, oh, that might be
a fun time Hatdan. So we call it hate Catana
and we launched. We have a different uh, we have
a different news short each week, so we just launched
the second short today. Actually, so every Tuesday there's a
new short. So if going to hate Cadan on YouTube,

(04:01):
you know, check it out, you know, see a new
short there. So that's fun. I really excited about that. Yeah,
you get a lot of creative liberty there. Congrats on that.
Yeah exactly. You know, it's great to have that. You
really want to find your place like where can I
let my creative energy go? You know, and that's uh,
I've got that place right now. And it's really cool,

(04:22):
especially after you know the pandemics like where do you go?
Where can I find my place of my outlet to
be creative? You know? Yeah, absolutely, Uh. You know, also
in the works the best Worst Christmas Ever? Fun title,
What what can you tell us about that? That's What's
Christmas ever? Oh? Is that the what the heck is that?

(04:45):
Wait a minute, getting my projects confused? Or there's a car?
Is that the cartoon? That's another? Might this could all
get edited easily? So okay, it doesn't matter, I mean,
but no, but I think there was dated Christmas movie
that I'm doing, an animated one, and that I think

(05:09):
that just came out. And there's also the best words
Christmas Ever. I think that is what it's titled. I
don't know. There's a few projects. Every time I think
I swear, I think I've done like ten Christmas movies
and I don't know why that happens. But now I'm
with you. I love that the Christmas movies? Oh, I'm here.

(05:29):
What Christmas ever? Okay? I love that you had to
google your you're ever doing that? Okay? What about actual
Chris What? That's another one? Yeah? That doesn't even look
I know that's me, but okay, I know where're checking
it either with your publicist assistant on the side. She

(05:50):
sounds awesome. What about actual Christmas? What are your plans?
You hanging out here? Are you traveling? I think I'm
going to go up north and see my mom and
my up that up in being up on bamber ground
and like they live up in Seattle right off and
sat on the peter down. Do you go up there?
It seems like you don't get a chance problem much.
Oh my god. On the contrary, I'm traveling way too often.

(06:12):
Oh you are, okay, I can't wait to just kind
of statically a tough for work. It's not it's not
necessarily for for pleasure. Are you from the Northwest? Is
that we were born and raised? I was, well, I
was there for high school. Yeah, but I mean originally
I was in I was born, you know, in shermmon
Oaks and moved up to a place called Mount Baldy.
You're right here, that's like ten minutes from us. Okay, yeah,

(06:35):
you're Native Angelino. Not too many of those, Yeah, that's right,
so because not too many. So I was. But then
I moved to Mount Baldy for a while. And that's
that's like I lived up in a cabin and uh
with my parents, and then we moved up to Seattle.
So I was like being kind of moving around a
lot kids, and you know, my parents were separated. So
I go from Sherman Oaks because my dad, who's in

(06:58):
the ground lanes. I don't know if you know the ground.
Oh wow, so it's in of course, Okay, so it's
in the face. Was one of the founders of the
Growlingly watching perform there, and that's where I got inspired
to do comedy. And uh, you know, I got to
see like Paul Ruben's great Petee Herman and Phil Artman
and all those so many grades came out of the grounding.
Oh that's a fun fact. Yeah. And then I got

(07:20):
to you know, I went through the classes and then
became a growling myself. And then that's where I met
Will and then you know, we went on to sl
and stuff like that. Anyway, but it started when I
was six. You know, my dad was my big inspiration. Uh,
that's what really inspired me to do comedy and just
get into the you know, get into the I get

(07:40):
show business, you call it, I don't know what you
call it. You got show business, entertainment, the entertainment businesses.
There we go. I don't call anything anymore. Yeah, that's true.
You don't want to offend anyone entertaining right, Speaking of
the entertainment business, I want to make sure that I
remind people to watch famous it is out now. It

(08:02):
sounds fascinating and I can't wait to personally check it out. Chris,

seen you of course, say great to see you, Mario
