Speaker 1 (00:00):
On with Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
It's up.

Speaker 3 (00:04):
You're on, Mario Lopez. Join me right now on Zoom.
Actress Judy Greerra Are you Judy?

Speaker 4 (00:09):
Oh me? I'm so good.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
How are you well?

Speaker 1 (00:12):
Thank you and congrats on your new Christmas comedy called
the Best Christmas Pageant Ever.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
It looks pretty funny. What's going on in this one?

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Well, it is about a small town Christmas pageant that
has been directed by the same woman for many, many,
many years, and she she can't do it because of
an injury. And I reluctantly volunteer to direct the pageant,
and everyone's worried about it. And it turns out that

(00:42):
like the naughty kids in town, like the kids from
the other side of the tracks, all volunteer to play
all the lead roles, and the town is in an uproar.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
And then of.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Course it's aptly named because it turns into the best
Christmas Pageant ever. And I think, sort of like bigger
picture seems, you know, which I'm always interested in when
I'm working, is like about like you know, it's about
like hypocrisy, it's about welcoming in the other it's about
like opening your heart to something that like you're not
familiar with. It's about like like loving everybody, and.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
I think we achieved it. I think that because people
are getting out of it.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
Yeah, and I heard it's also got a cool nostalgic,
old school classic Christmas movie vibe to it.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Yeah, Winnipeg we shot. It's like kind of a like
a local joke about how every Christmas movie is shot
in Winnipeg.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
But it's true and they're ready for it. They have
lots of decorations.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
We shot our Christmas movie on like a lot of
other Christmas movies during actual Christmas time, so nice. It
was already cold. We didn't have to pretend we were
freezing our asses off. I'm sorry for knowledge to say that.
And yeah, all of our coats were real and.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
They were needed. They were required for sure.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
That's fantastic. Congrats on that. And you're also in the
upcoming movie The Long Walk.

Speaker 4 (02:10):
Yeah, very different vibe.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
I like it diverse. What is that about?

Speaker 4 (02:17):
That's so sad?

Speaker 2 (02:18):
I mean I haven't been the movie yet, but the
script and the book are so sad. It was written
by Stephen King in nineteen seventy nine in retaliation to
the Vietnam War.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
It is a.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
It's a book about and the movie is about these
boys who basically you walk until you collapse, and the
last kids standing is the winner, and he wins money
and he wins.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
One wish to be granted.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
And it's sort of this utopian or I don't know, dystope.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
It's not utopian. It's dystopian. Sorry, I went to acting school.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
It's dystopian in the sense that, like, you know, it's
neither in the past or the future.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
It is really dark. It's really sad. It's really.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
You know, there's like some elevated technology and other times
there's not technology. And it's so dark and it's so
weird that I was back like shooting that in the
heat and humidity of the.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
Summer in Winnipeg. Again.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
I can't get enough of Winnipeg. And yeah, I just
can't get enough. I actually really love Winnipeg. And I've
told people, like I should like speak to people about
how great it is to shoot in Winnipeg because everyone
needs to know that it is exciting. The only thing
that stinks about being in Winnipeg is there's no direct
flight from Los Angeles.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
Actually that's hard.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
That's the only hard thing is and you must know this,
like when you're working out of town and you're traveling
so much, to just like not be able to get
home easily and quickly, or to not be able to
have like ear sweetheart coming get to you for a
quick weekend or something. Is that's the only drag about.
I think cities like that are a little harder to
get to.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
I can totally relate a sympathize.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, And this project also sounds pretty cool.
Rambler and the Birdie Machine, which with Owen Wilson and
Mark Maren. I know that's Apple TV. You play his
ex wife right in this one.

Speaker 4 (04:23):
Yes I am.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
I'm getting really good at playing people's ex wives, although
I've never been an ex wife. Knock on wood and Yes,
Owen Wilson plays Price. He is a retired pro golfer
who had a breakdown and quit golfing and is trying

(04:47):
to put the pieces of his life back together. Mark
Mirren plays his best friend, and I think, coach, do
you think that he was his caddie? But and then
he and sort of like in this like everything's coming
to a head when we meet Owen's character, he's been

(05:10):
told by me his ex wife that he has to
move out of their shared house so that she can
sell it. He he's having financial issues. Just all these
things are you know, he's just really not like dealing
with the trauma that he experienced. And so he sees
this young kid, and he sees him hitting some golf
balls sort of like secretly hitting golf balls at a

(05:32):
country club, and he's incredible, and so he's like, please,
let me take you under my wing, let me take
you on tours. Let's like, let's get you out there.
And this is feeling like a real redemption story. And
I had always wanted to work with Owen Wilson, like
I love Owen Wilson, and now I can say that

(05:53):
I love Owen Wilson as a person. But I was
such a huge fan of his for I mean yours,
like as long as everyone has been. I loved Bottle
Rockets so much. I was like, who are these boys?

Speaker 4 (06:06):
Like, who are these.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
People like him? His brother Wes Anderson. I'm like, oh,
this is why I want to do what I do.
I still want to work with LEAs Anderson so badly,
but like definitely bucket list to work with Owen.

Speaker 4 (06:18):
He was so great.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
My my co star and the best Christmas pageant ever.
Pete Holmes tells me, I talk too much and interviews,
so you can tell me to shut up and ask
me more questions.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
You never stopped talking.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
Well, I just have I just have one that I
do like Owen Wilson West Anderson.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
I love Rushmore. It's one of my favorite movies. We
do right, isn't it so good? You've been in so many.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Different TV shows and movies over the years. What set
was the wildest, most fun that you worked on. I
don't want to say the best is what was the funniest?

Speaker 4 (06:52):
Fair fair? Not the best, but the funniest.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
You know.

Speaker 4 (06:57):
I did a TV show for TWOCA on FX called Married.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Lash Maybe that was like ten years ago, Like I
don't even remember it was.

Speaker 4 (07:09):
It was so fun. It was so wild. It was
like we were shooting in Valley Village. Mostly we were
in the.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Valley and we were on FX, but it felt like
we were shooting an independent movie like we were. So
we were just like struggling to make our days. We
were working so hard. We were shooting like three episodes
at once. Everyone thought they were going crazy. And then
there used to be this bar I don't so. The

(07:37):
Sportsman's Lodge is now like a whole different vibe, right,
But before they turned it into a shopping mall, it
was like an old timey hotel and there was a
bar there called the River Rock.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
And I am not kidding.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
I think we drank there every single night after work,
like we were all so stressed out and we were
having so much fun. But every night our base camp
was at the old Sportsman's Lodge parking lot. We would
go there in the morning, get ready, and then they
would drive us in vans deep into the valley to
shoot all day long. We would never go back to
our trailers except to change at the end of the night,
and then we would drink a River Rock. I think

(08:12):
that's what it was called. Anyway, it was so fun.
We had so much fun. That show was wild, and
I don't know, I really I remember that as being
like a crazy sect.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
Remember it vividly, that's awesome.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
Yeah, I remember a lot of it until we got
to the bar. Vividly.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
That car Well, Judy, congratulations on everything, and hope to
get to see in person soon. Meanwhile, listen if you're
