Speaker 1 (00:00):
On Lopez's Up Mario Lopez joining me now on Zoom
the UFO from the Mass Singer, My girl, Olivia Koppo, Welcome.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
To the show.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
How you doing, Olivia good?

Speaker 1 (00:13):
How are you?

Speaker 2 (00:14):
I'm doing great.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
You look amazing as always, So I was so surprised.
First of all, I have so many questions. Were you
a fan of the Mass Singer prior to wanting to
do the show?

Speaker 2 (00:25):
I know so my parents are obsessed with the Mass Singer.
I'm really Nicole Scherzinger. I have a lot of friends
who have been on the show before, so there were
a lot of random connections.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
And I know you play the cello correct at a
very high level and uh and you sing apparently too,
so that that must have been an easy transition.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
Well kind of.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
It was definitely unlike anything I'd ever done before, but
growing up playing the cello from the time I was six, like,
I've always just loved music, and I did musical theater
and you know, chorus and all those things. So I
felt like music has always just been such a huge
part of my But the reason why I wanted to
do The Mass Singer is because it just looked fun,
like it's there's not that many things that you can

(01:05):
do in life. It's like, having fun is the number
one criteria. Like, it's not even about sounding good on
the mass singer, it's just are you having fun?

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Just having a good time? You're exactly right, nice, family friendly,
fun too. How'd you feel about your costume? Did you
pick the UFO or was that just one of the
options that was given.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
They actually picked it for me, so I was Space night,
so that fell in line with that theme. And then
they have all these amazing costume designers. They put it
together in like a day, and I was just like, cool,
this looks great, I'll take it.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Was it comfortable?

Speaker 4 (01:39):
No, It's so heavy. The head was like a fish bowl.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
The whole outfit, like the skirt part of it is
battery operated. It lights up, so it was like tons
of batteries, wires lighting. It was so heavy under that skirt,
and that it was held up by these suspenders that
were just like paving it on my neck and back
and shoulder.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
That's funny. That's funny, And who actually knew?

Speaker 1 (02:03):
Who did?

Speaker 3 (02:03):
Were you good about keeping the secret?

Speaker 4 (02:05):
I tried to keep it a secret.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
I really tried to keep it a secret because my
family has such a big mouth, so not that many
people knew. Even when my team came on set, they
had to be completely covered head to toe. It's very
top secret, and they take it very seriously they do.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
It's funny how serious they take it. And your song
choices included some cold Play, Elton John Caigo does that
Does that music reflect your your personality? Like who you
listen to?

Speaker 4 (02:33):
Well, every night had a different theme.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
So the first night was space, and then I mean,
who doesn't love Amy Winehouse?

Speaker 4 (02:40):
It was yes, the best ye Amy wine.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
House jazz singer too.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
Yeah, she's so good.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
So yeah, I guess it is just people I really admire,
and the producers and vocal coaches on the bass singer,
they're like very heavily involved in making sure that you
feel really comfortable. And I was just referring to them
as far as what they thought I should sing, and
I just kind of went through the motions.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
And tried to do got it the best I could.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
I was just shocked I made it past the first night.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Roll with a note.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
Good for you.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
That's awesome. People get to see your personality and stuff.
By the way, do you still keep up playing the cello.
I don't know I did this like a flute. It
would be like this, I imagine I went like a flute.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
Yeah I do.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
I'm actually playing performing this week with my mom and
my brother for Best Buddies.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
We do it every year.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Best Buddies has this Mother's Day brunch and I'm performing
with them. And I have a quartet in La that
I play with and I practice a lot well, you know,
honestly when I can't. The thing about the cello is
like I have to make sure that my nails are
really really short. So sometimes if I have a photo shoot,
I had need long nails or whatever. It's struggle, man,
the struggle.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
The struggle is real right there. That's awesome though that
you keep it up. Saw you went to Gchella. Saw
the outfits outstanding as usual? You trying to You had
the tool belt look right.

Speaker 4 (04:02):
Yeah, tony twol belt two bell Tony.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
That was is that?

Speaker 4 (04:06):
And how was it this year? It was fun? It
was really fun.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
It was you know, I don't know, it's always it's
always equal parts super exciting and kind of petrifying because
you're like, oh my god, am I going to be
stuck in the middle of a field or no desert
deserted area, so it can be kind of scary.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Not A concerned with the restroom situation, like I would
have to be a you know what I mean, like
there's have to be access nearby. I don't want to
get stuck. And then it's a whole situation.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
I know.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Am I allowed to see this on the record. I
might be aging out, I might be eating out of it.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
It's not funny, and you're young, you're super Oh my god,
that's funny.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
It's different partying in your twenties.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Thirties.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
But anyway, it was. It was really honestly, it was
so fun.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
I love seeing the fashion, I love hearing the artists,
so many talented people.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
But I don't know I'm getting I'm getting Yeah, No,
I get you.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
I get you. It's like Hollywood Bowls coming up. That's
a nice You get in, you get out, you're still outside.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
Yeah, you know right, My mornings are more no dust
and dirt. You're stuck, by the way.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
I'm sorry I should have even led with this. Congratulations
on your engagement. I saw that you posted about it.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
Very cool.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
Is it is it too soon to start planning the
wedding or are just going to enjoy that phase and
then later on.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
I know, I feel like I've always wanted a long engagement,
but I feel the pressure to get going. So I'm
I'm already planning and I'm hoping to have a wedding
soon or rather than later.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
So you're going to a blowout or just more intimate.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
I don't know yet.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
It's tough to I'm still in the early stages of deciding,
but we'll see.

Speaker 4 (05:48):
It's leaning more towards maybe something bigger. But then I'm like, oh,
maybe you're just a lope.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
There's so many moving parts, and statistically they say that
couples that elope are happier playing there.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
So I'm on the fen.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
I'm either at a lope or do like a blowout.
There's really nothing in between.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Wow, okay, all right, well, good luck with the and
and what about the Colpo sisters. I got to finally
meet your lovely sisters not not too long ago. They're very,
very sweet. Do you know if you're going to continue
to work on that or yeah, we have.

the fire. I guess you could say a lot of
moving parts. A lot of things are changing on a
daily basis, so I can't really give any concrete updates yet,
