Speaker 1 (00:00):
On with Mario a little bit. It's up on Mario
Lopez joining me now on Zoom the very talented Sarah
Michelle Geller, how are you welcome to the show. Thank
you for having me. It's a nice break from it's
a nice break from Zoom School. Oh God, Zoom schools
the worst. I was trying to help my kids this morning.
It's just they're not learning anything. Sarah. My daughter has
become so savvay. She's playing a video game at the

(00:22):
same time and has like a double screen the whole.
I'm ready for this nightmare to be over. I finally
come to the realization that there's a reason why teachers
have master's degrees and they have doctorates, and at the
end of the day, I can be responsible. They can
catch up on the school stuff. It's the social emotional learning.
So I'm going to focus on sc L right now
and I'll get back to new Math later. Excellent, you're right,

(00:44):
new Math that's a whole another thing with that common
I don't understand why they changed it, like it was fine.
What was the purpose? I agree? What was the purpose?
I have the answer because I asked, apparently, okay, so
we didn't have numerical comprehension. We did it by route,
we memory as we know this divided by this. So
now they do those boxes, they could understand why My

(01:05):
argument is we're all doing okay, yeah, exactly americle comprehension.
But I got the answer right. I don't know who
made that decision, but common core is trash. Anyway, Hi,
a great, Hi, A great thinking that touchet a nice
nice uh. And on social media, I see you've been
killing the jumpsuit game. I'm a big fan of jumpsuits.
Is this the fashion look for Well, you don't have

(01:27):
realized this. Jumpsuits are usually complicated only like when you're outside, right,
because it's hard to go to the bathroom and a
jumpsuit or whatever. One time I made the mistake of
wearing a jumpsuit on a flight to England. That was
not my best decision. But now you can wear the
jumpsuit game because you don't go anywhere. Yeah, exactly, very
It's all about the comfort here. And you know, I'm

(01:48):
not a great influencer, so I feel like a jumpsuit
influencing is now going to be my calling. Well, I'm
just going I'm going for it. Good for you. Good
for you. You're working to help Feed America, which is great.
Tell us about this partnership in what you're doing exactly.
It's amazing. I've always been aware of the super spread
the love. You know, you can't miss the commercials or understand,
but to really get in the weeds with a company

(02:09):
that walks the walk and that it's something that's so ingrained,
and their whole idea behind it is that what can
we do as a community, what can we do nationally?
How do we make a difference. And obviously, children, as
you know, are very close to my heart, and you
hear these statistics that one in four children may not
know where the next meal is coming from. That food
and security in our country right now is at such

(02:30):
a high point, and as a parent, I can't even
imagine what the emotional toll it takes to feel like
I can't feed my child. We have people visiting food
banks that have never visited a food bank before, and
last April, Subaru donated fifty million meals through Feeding America.
And now here we are a year later into this pandemic,
and it has not gotten better. Food and security is

(02:52):
now just skyrocketed and all type high as jobs aren't
coming back, and so they said, you know, what can
we do? I know, let's donate a hundred million meals
this time. And when you realize, I think so often
I get asked what can I do? As one person,
I'm barely making ends meet. Now when you work with
a program like Feeding America, one dollar puts ten meals

(03:12):
on a table. So if every person donated one dollar,
you realize what a difference you can make. But who
has the platform? And when you see a company like
super that has a platform to say, hey, guys, we
can do this, We're committing to this. Come join us,
be a part of spreading this kind of love. Like
for me, it's everything. I love that what can people
do to get involved? How can they? How can they

(03:34):
will give you? Well, I'll give you, guys, all the
lengths and um I'll have them on my channels to
so you can come to me and I'll show you
how easy it is to make such a difference. And
I just for me, as hard as this has been,
I always need perspective and I need the perspective that, yes,
this is difficult, and don't ever deny yourself how hard
this is. It's hard on you, it's hard on me.

(03:55):
It's hard on our spouses to live with us through
all of this. Um, but people are struggling even harder.
And as a you realize that when you make a
different someone else's life, it makes a difference in yours. Absolutely. Yeah,
it really puts things in perspective. And good for you.
That's awesome to hear that you're doing that. Um. I
wanted to talk about you being part of the new
Masters of the Universe series for not because I love

(04:17):
this cartoon When I was a kid. Uh, it was
he Man in the Masters of the Universe when I
was Is he Man no longer involved or is he
just a secondary character? Or what's the deal? Oh? He
Man is there every Okay, you're gonna freak. It is
so good. First of all, Kevin Smith is one of
the best directors I've ever had the opportunity. His notes

(04:37):
are just I love this man so much and he
has the same passion and when every time, like you'll
get through episodes and then another character will pop up
that you're like, wait, that character is back, Like every
great character is back. But the story is amazing. I'm
so excited. I honestly I haven't been as excited about
something get a long time. I love this. So we're
talking Heman, Ramman, skelet Tour, Tila. I remember these off

(05:02):
the top of my head. That's awesome. So much wood,
Sergeant at arms Tila. Yes, right, there was man in
arms right. Yes, that's my father, remember, yes, yes, yes,
it's coming back to be done. It's gonna be it's
gonna be so good. So much food. It's really moving

(05:24):
like I cried. Wow. And Kevin Smith, like the Kevin Smith.
He's on our Amunt Rushmore of the longest talkers here
are Interview an our interview. Keith Our turned into like
a NonStop. It was like a Philipbuster. He didn't want
to leave. Then we love it. But he has a
lot of fun when he comes in. He thought I
could talk. Oh, Kevin, he's definitely an Armount Rushmore. Right there. Um,

(05:49):
have you let the kids watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer yet?
I may have asked you this before? And okay, what
I have We started in Quarantine. The first four seasons
are fine. The later seasons I'm having to go through
and remember each episode because some of it's a little inappropriate.
My daughter is only eleven, but they they're loving it.
They get really who much Buffy tonight? Like it's so funny?

(06:10):
Oh nice, nicee. My kids, the last thing we want
to do is watch me. My mom even tries to
good and like they're they're they're over it. Don't feel
bad that my kids just discovered Saved by the Bell too,
So it's good. Oh good, Okay, Well, at least they'll
give it a shot. They watched a marathon this weekend.
Oh nice nice. Hopefully they'll give the new one a shot.
Speaking of reboots, by the way, I'm sure you've gotten

(06:32):
approached a lot about Buffy type of reimagining or reboot.
Is it something you would consider or or what are
your thoughts? We bit, how do they say long in
the tooth for that? You know? I think what worked
for Buffy was that, you know, the monsters represented they
were the metaphors the horrors of adolescence, and I do
think that story lends itself. They'd be interesting to see

(06:52):
how it chosen one would deal with that. I don't
I think it's me. I don't think I think be
the one doing it. And I'm also way too tired
to put in that kind of work again, But I
love that the story holds up and that people are
calling for that. Yeah. Yeah, I had great spin off too,
so no, very cool. Um. I saw your dogs on
I g what kind of breed is that their keytes?

(07:14):
Oh a key does? Oh with the little tail? That's right,
that's right. Good dogs, smart dogs. They are amazing. They
are a lot of work. They're twins, Piper. You know,
they're okay in the mornings. They have a lot of energy,
and they love to wrestle. I mean they're like having
a brother and sister. I means literally the same. It's
my son and my daughter, just now in a dog form. Yeah,

(07:34):
I got it. Um, this is a fun fact. One
of your first gigs was exactly forty years ago, a
Burger King commercial. Do you remember anything about that day? Yes,
I remember that I did a whole bunch of the
Burger King commercials, and I remember two very distinct things.
I remember that I wore these overalls in every commercial
and my mom would like carry them on the airplane.

(07:56):
And I remember doing the first commercial and all I
wanted was a hamburger and your methods, right, I thought
that they would spray paint and shelack and glue each
seed on the burger to to do this, and all
I wanted, We're going to hit herm the ovens off
in the burger king because they make too much noise.
And so I couldn't get a burger too for lunch

(08:18):
because they didn't existen. So I'm like staring at all
these burgers from five years old. And there was no
Postmates or ober Eats in those days, so I was
just out of luck. Oh that's funny, that's great. Um, Sarah,
Before I let you go and put you on the spot,
quick questions, quick answers. Okay, what are you watching on
streaming right now? What do you suggest the new Punky
Brewster starting on Peacock? Ah, that's right, Freddy Uh, Freddy's

(08:41):
starring in that right, that's a fun cast. That's a
nice cast right there. I'm glad looking forward to checking
that out song. You know all the words too, baby
got back? My kids are just listening to it. Is
that your go to karaoke jam? No? What's your go
to karaoke jam? Hey? Are you the last night karaoke?
Could you imagine like all of everybody touching that mic

(09:03):
right now? I mean in those enclosed rooms, like I'm
gonna have like PTSD of that stuff. No, I don't
do the public karaoke thing. I go to Korea Town
and you go to the private rooms with like friends,
so much fun because I just last time I went
to one of those was with Seth Green and Maculleague
Culkin that I'll leave it at that. That's a good
tease right there. I like that celebrity crush growing up

(09:26):
John Kennedy Jr. And River Phoenix. I'm so old. Those
are those are good ones? Like I could I could
dig that, like I I see that now, it's just
Angela Bassett. It's just Angela. Okay, that's it's diverse. You
cast a white neck. It's right when Friday and I
share the same one, right right? Go to late night snack? Goodness,

(09:47):
what does my go to late night snack? I mean anything?
I can fine chocolate, dark chocolate. I'm a dark chocolate
person too. I can't go back now on that. And
and last question, who do you cast to play you
in the Sarah Michelle Gellar's story. My daughter Charlotte. Have
you seen her? She's like my mini mate. Keep it
in the family. I like it. I like it. I
got a couple of mini means myself. It's a trip.
You're like arguing with small versions of yourself. It's uh,

(10:09):
it's funny. Don't forget smaller, smarter versions. Yeah, no, you're right,
you're right. So nice to see you and nice catching up.
Please give my best to Freddie and uh hopefully we'll
we'll see you in person soon. Allmary dot com for
all the info about feeding America. H Sarah, thanks for
checking in, Thanks for having me, all right, take on
with Mario a little pett
