Speaker 1 (00:01):
What up, Y'allice DJ and Van's I am Gia Casey
and this is another edition of the Casey Crew. Welcome, Hello, Hello, Hello,
beautiful people. Yes, and today we're talking about a city
that we just love to visit, love to spend time in,
and love to bring out kids and family. It's the
city of Houston. All right. We're gonna talk about Houston,

(00:22):
some of the things we love to do in Houston
as a family, and sometimes where we just like some
grown up time right now. This episode is sponsored by
American Express. Now, the city of Houston and music, the
art and history is something that can't be ignored, especially
the Houston hip hop scene and introducing greats that propelled
the industry to new directions. I'm gonna take you on

(00:42):
a journey through the sites and sounds, and of course
the food, because Gia loves food. It's the truth. But
now we got to first talk why we like Houston
so much. First and foremost, it's a quick trip from
New York or New Jersey. It's only about two forty
maybe three if the wind, if the weather's a little nasty.
But it's really a fast trip and it's NonStop, so

(01:04):
it makes it very very easy. And I know I
love the skyscrapers of New York City, but sometimes I
just need that soul, that good country soul food that
Houston has. Now, my wife, she probably likes Houston because
she probably likes to shop. Am I right? Am? I right? Am?
I line a little all right, Well, let's break it down.
When we go to Houston. One of our favorite places

(01:26):
to stay is the Houstonian Hotel, Club and Spa. All right, Now,
not only is it a beautiful hotel, but sometimes we
can go downstairs and get the massage that we like,
the ninety minute or the two hour massage the hot stone.
That feels so good because then after we can go
upstairs and get some some alone time, some cuttle time,
some cuttle time. So that's the reason. That's the hotel

(01:50):
we usually enjoy. I mean, the hotel is beautiful, the
room service is great. But when we want to step out,
one of the places that we like to go sometimes
it's Turkel a cut, Yes, now, shout to lend Turkey
Lake Cut is a restaurant that, of course by the name,
they really specialize in turkeys, yes, and putting all types
of stuff on the turkeys. Yes, shrimp sauce. I mean

(02:13):
they put everything on top of that turkey besides the
kitchen sink. I mean like they have rice on top
of the turkey. They put steak on top of the turkey.
I mean the menu is so lengthy and expansive. When
we sit down, it could just be the two of
us and we might order four or five on tres Yeah. No, lie.
And if you're a hookah person, they have hooka, they

(02:35):
have alcohol. It's but it's not dressing where you have
to dress up and have a shirt and tie. Very
very casual. Yes, you can go there relaxed as a
DJ that plays there. It's a vibe, It's it's definitely
is definitely a vibe, but you might need a wheelchair
to roll you out of there because by the time
that you're done eating, you are so stuffed and almost comatose.

(02:58):
Absolutely is that non't know, it is that good? I
don't know. I don't know. If you remember when we
had Madison, Madison had her boyfriend with her and we
went to Turkey Leg on a Thursday. Madison's our door
if you're yeah, Madison's outdoor and her boyfriend and I
just remember Madison taking so much back to the hotel
that she did not want to leave for two days
because she had enough food for two days. Just close

(03:19):
the blind just close the blinds and she was good money. Absolutely.
Now another place we like to go is Bar fifty
fifteen right now, that's a place. I don't know if
you remember that. I DJ that place, me and DJ
Louis v. That's what had the outside vibe sexy. We
was playing the R and B so that has an
outdoor indoor in that place, and the food was just great,

(03:39):
like we really really really really enjoyed it. Again, very viby,
very vibe. That's one thing I would say about Houston.
It's viby. It feels good. It doesn't feel like sometimes
when you're New York City it feels like very fast paced, yes,
very rushed. Yes, Houston is more like take your time,
relax and chill. You know what I like about Houston?
What's that? The fact that there's so many things to

(04:01):
do that it's hard to pick just one. Correct. You know,
you go out to eat, and then there's so many
things to do after the restaurant, Like what club, what bar?
What experience do I want to have tonight? But you
can't really lose, right, Absolutely, And you know what I
love to the people? Yes, every time that Yes, every
time that you come back from Houston and I say hey,

(04:24):
how is your trip, you always say you know what
I love most about Houston the people. Absolutely. You know,
it's just it's just a feeling. It's energy that you
get in Houston that you know. We love New York.
We're from New York, right, but you always say Houston
is different. It is, Yeah, it is. And then my
daughter and my wife like to go shopping. One of
the spots is Gallery a Mall. Yes, now, Gallery a

(04:46):
Mall is It has a little bit of everything from
high end to your regular degular type of stuff to
stuff that sometimes just a little cheap. I just might
need a little T shirt to get me by, or
my son loves sneakers, sneakerhead. There's a lot of spots
there that you can get exclusive sneakers. Yes, right now,
if you're feel in a little booze, you could pull
up an take a valley, park your car or they

(05:07):
have more than enough parking. And the reason I'm saying
that is because when you park, when you're walking from
your parking spot, to the mall, you pass the Webster.
I love the Webster. That's actually my favorite shopping experience.
Now for people that don't know what the Webster is,
what is the Webster. It's a very unique boutique style

(05:28):
shopping experience where they have accounts from a lot of
the different high end designers like Chanel and your, etc.
But it's not a mall experience. It's a smaller type
of setup where you get very personalized boutique style experience
right where if I'm looking for something that may not

(05:50):
be carried at, for instance, Channel in the mall, the
Webster might have it because they have buyers that choose
things that are a little bit more exclusive and that
the bigger buyers may not choose. So when I'm looking
for something a little bit more off the beaten path,
a little bit more, you know, something that you're not
going to find mainstream, I look at the Webster. That's right,

(06:10):
And they have a Webster in Florida, and they have
one here as well, and they have everything that you need.
So if you want to go out you forgot something
you want to dope jack some dope shoes or and
they have men and women, so you can go there
for anything that you need. It feels very luxury. It
definitely feel very luxury. Now it's beautiful. It's a beautiful
set up, very beautiful. Makes you feel at home when

(06:30):
you walk in. Yes, yes, Now when I say shopping
at the gallery, it's not just high end. If you
need to go get that quick shirt from Zaro, or
you need some dope kicks from Night, they have that
as well. They have a Macy's in so many different
stories that you can go high end or regular size
right now also, which we really really enjoy. So we're
from New York, New Jersey, of course, and we don't

(06:52):
see things that people see in Houston sometimes like horses,
right are you laughing for? We don't like that. So
the rodeo comes to town. I believe it's twice a
year and they're there for about ten days, and oh
my goodness, the kids love the rod Yes. So besides
the animals, the goats and the sheep and the horses

(07:14):
and the buffalo and all the things. And the cowboys,
because everybody dresses up with the cowboy hats and the cowboy.
One year we gotta go with cowboy. I know you
like to match all the time, we gotta go with
matching cowboy hats and mountain all cow shoes will have
matching cowboy hats and cowboy boots. I have to learn
what to say is a yeeha or yahoo? I can
never remember yeah yeah, so yes, I can go go yeeha.

(07:35):
So that's part of the reason. Like we like the rodeo,
and if you've never been to the rodeo, it's like
I said, seven to ten days of all types of
events and performances. But also they have a carnival outside. Yes,
and the kids love the wheels, space painting, pirate ships, arrisels,
things of that nature. But you know what I love
the most besides the horses, and it is a unique experience.

(07:56):
I love the fact that it's a unique experience. But
it's all of the food, Oh the fool And there's
food competition, so all of your best local foods they
compete and you get to taste. I mean, it's it's amazing.
When I think Houston, I have to be honest with you.
I think food absolutely, know what I mean. New York
is known for having the highest end food experiences, but

(08:19):
Houston gives New York a run for its money. Absolutely,
and it's it's like you said, it's mom and pop style.
So there's so many different things. They have the Glizzies.
You like the Lizzie that's the hot do just they
you have to come up with the name for everything, right. Yeah.
They got the funnel cake, they got the burgers, they

(08:41):
have top goals, the barbecue, the barbecue and the barbecue.
It's so many different you know, so many different stations
you go to. The only thing about Houston is when
you come back, you're gonna have a couple of pounds
on you. Yeah, because you have to hit the gym.
They're definitely gonna have to hit the gym. Yes, when
I know I'm going to Houston, I work out before
I go so I can lose the pounds because I
know I'm just going to get it right back. You
know something, you actually do do that? Yeah, I actually

(09:03):
do do that. Absolutely. I gotta go to the gym
because we're going to Houston, us. I'm getting comfort of food.
I know what it's going to gonna lose, but i
know I'm about to put on so when I come back,
I'm regular that. It's the truth. I mean, Houston is
the only place where you eat, then you go to
the bar and eat, then you go to the Gentleman's
Club and eat. Did you go to Rodeo and eat?
You always eating? And if you're in a good hotel

(09:24):
like you know, the one that we're suggesting, like you said,
um it's the Houstonian Hotel Club is right, yea? Or
the c Baldwin. Yeah, you're gonna get amazing service. Absolutely,
so we get back to the hotel and then it's
room service right absolutely. Now. Also, if you want to
do something education or not not that you know, the
Gentleman's Club and some of those other parts are not education,

(09:45):
not educational. They have very clear they are be educated
on the female anatomy. There you go. You also have
the Houston Museum District, which has over nineteen museums with
hundreds of exhibits for the whole family. So there's so
many different things that you can do with the family.
Kids love that, yes, our littles love that. Yes they

(10:06):
I mean they just enjoy the Houstons and our kids
are starting to, uh, I want to say, expand their
palette that I say that right, yes, So there's no
more there's no more chicken fingers. And French fries they
want file mcnonte really think, okay, you people are like, goodness, gracious,
maybe you need to go to those museums and yes, now,

(10:30):
but our kids are starting to expand their palettes, so
they're starting to try different foods, different coaches in different places,
and it's just one of those places that we really,
really truly enjoy. So if you ever get an opportunity,
definitely check out some of those places that we recommend
it and I'll just give you a quick update just
in case you forgot. Of course, it's Bar fifty fifteen,
which has amazing food, amazing atmosphere, amazing music, especially when

(10:53):
I'm DJ, and it's probably one of the best one
I'm DJ just by the way. Second your second that
thank you Turkey leg Hud if you want something fast
and a lot of food and also a vibe music
and things like that. That has an outdoor indoor which
is also amazing. And then of course the museum district
if you want some education, if you want some you know,
teach the kids some things about Houston and all that

(11:13):
other stuntories, some culture. Absolutely, and if you get an opportunity,
I would try to book it. Around the Houston Rodeo.
I know, the Houston Rodeo travels to too many different markets,
but in Houston it's so big. They take over that
that big NRG Stadium and it's so huge, and there's
a lot there's a lot of performances, yes, but a
lot of celebrities come through. I know that cardib came

(11:35):
through one year. Um, just all different types of Yeah,
Bunby does it each year. I think this year he
had over seventy thousand people watching him performing. He brought
the whole Houston out. Yeah, so definitely definitely check that
out right now. These experience are nothing without a plan
