true crime podcast. I'm your host, Hunter and today's case
takes us into the unsolved disappearance of a California woman
who seemed to just vanish into thin air just days

before Christmas in nineteen ninety four, a woman whose final
days were shrouded in threat and mystery, and a woman
who knew she was in danger. This is the story
of mary Anne Johnson. Marianne was born on July twenty first,

nineteen thirty nine.

Fifty four years old when her life took a terrifying turn.
In the days leading up to her disappearance, she received
a visit from two men, men sent to do her harm.
They had been hired for one purpose, to break her
legs for a payout of eight hundred dollars, but instead

of following through, they issued her a warning instead. But
who had sent them and why was Maryanne targeting? They
never said why, but Marianne was left with a gut
wrenching fear that danger might be close by. On December nineteenth,
nineteen ninety four, Marianne left her job at Robinson's May

Department store in Los Angeles. She told coworkers she was
meeting her a strange husband, Andrew Johnson. The following day,
but when police questioned Andrew, his story didn't match up.
He claimed they had spoken that day but had no
plans to meet. Were they reconciling after their separation in

nineteen ninety three or was there something else lying beneath
the surface? The Johnsons weren't just former spouses. They were
business partners. They co owned Louisiana West, a restaurant in Vanuy's, California,
which had closed down just before Marianne disappeared. Was this

a connection? A week after she was last seen, a
disturbing discovery was made. Marianne's black nineteen eighty eight Chevrolet
Corvette was found abandoned in the restaurant's parking lot. Her
keys were still inside, the doors were locked, but Marianne

(03:23):
was nowhere in sight. More than three decades have passed
and still no witnesses, no name, suspects, and no answers.
Yet the eerie circumstances surrounding her disappearance still remain a mystery.
At the time she vanished, Marianne Johnson stood five feet

(03:44):
seven inches tall, weighing one hundred and fifty pounds. She
had reddish brown hair, brown eyes, and pierced ears. What
she was last seen wearing is unknown, along with any
X ray rects. Today, mary Anne would be eighty five
