Speaker 1 (00:01):
Jewist.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
I'm a homegirl that knows a little bit about everything
and everybody.
Speaker 1 (00:06):
You know, if you don't lie.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
About that, right, La, Hey, y'all, what's up. It's Laura L.
Rosa and this is the Latest with Laura L. Rosa.
This is your daily dig on all things pop culture, entertainment,
news exclusives, and all of the conversations that shake the room. Now,
I'm a homegirl that knows a bit about everything and everybody.
So let's get on end too. The Latest, Now in
(00:28):
the Latest Today. First up, y'all know we've been talking
about Little Nights X everywhere at this point breaking news.
As I was walking into the studio today to record,
I received an email from the media department from the
La County DA's office who had released some information on
Little nis X. So they released info on his charges,
(00:49):
his bail amount. Because things are basically getting going and
from what it looks like at the time of me
recording this video, it is five pm Eastern Standard time
on August twenty fifth, twenty twenty five, Little Knights X'll
probably be bailed out in the next coming hours. According
to his family members who were outside of the courtroom
for his arrayment today. So Little knighte X, from what
(01:10):
I'm told from the La County Dier's office, not guilty
during his arrayment today in a Van NY's courthouse. Van
nis Is. It's a part of California. It's considered the
Valley California. Now he has a preliminary hearing, so he
does have to once he posts ball, he'll have to
come back to court for all of this stuff, for
all of the videos, all the newness, all the things,
and he'll be back in court on September fifteenth. His
(01:34):
bill is set at seventy five thousand dollars. And that
was all that they could tell me. Now, I asked
a few questions because in the beginning of this it
was told and reported and from everything that I received
from officials, Little Knights X was being held because of
the charge that he was facing. He was charged with
suspicion of battery on a police officer or a peace officer.
(01:55):
And because of this charge, it was an automatic appearance,
so he had to appear in front of a judge.
He was not allowed to be cited, so he spent
the weekend in jail. Now we talked about this on
the breakfast club as well. There're two. But again following
the report on the breakfast club. Now Little Knights X
has been to court. He has pled not guilty, and
he has been giving a bell that his family was
outside of the courthouse and they were very, you know,
(02:16):
adamant about the fact that Little Knights X will be
coming home today. His dad was actually outside of the
courthouse and gave these comments.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
Let's say, listen, God is good. I don't think I
said God is good. God has a plan. He talked
about what happened on Thursday. No, I think you all
know everything that you need to know about what happened.
Absolutely not. What can you tell? What can you tell
that'll be it? Thank y'all, y'all? Support are you offering
(02:46):
him at this stot?
Speaker 3 (02:48):
The family support?
Speaker 2 (02:49):
The family is gonna any message to the fans that
are concerned about him.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
Right now.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
He's in good spirit, he's all right. He's very remorseful
for what happened, you know, but it can happen in
any family. You know, He's going to get the help
that he needs. And just keep him in your prayers,
you know, give him the same grace and mercy that
God give everyone.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
How is he doing mentally.
Speaker 4 (03:14):
I know a lot of.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
People he's doing great mentally. He's doing great mentally. You're
doing great mentally. It's awesome, awesome, awesome. You know, we
shed tears, we sheared laughter. But he's in great spirit.
He's going to be great, you know. God. Like I said,
God is good. You know all the time and all
the time, God is good. You know, just keep him in,
(03:37):
just keep him in your prayers today, sir, absolutely, absolutely.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
What do you think is the first thing that he's
going to do when he comes.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Out, Well, he be get God all the glory, Your God,
all the glory. That's what he's gonna do when he
first get out, Your God, all the glory.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
And is there anything you can tell us about what
happened that night?
Speaker 4 (03:55):
Anything you can give us.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
I can't tell you nothing about that night.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
So I wanted to start that from the beginning. I
just want to I want to highlight one specific part
in the beginning that's playing here one more time from
the beginning.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
God is good. I don't think I said God is good.
God has a plan. As he talked about what happened
on Thursday. No, I think you all know everything that
you need to know about what happened. Third, absolutely not.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
All right, So one of some of the things I
want to point out here. So first of all, little
nized Ex's dad, you guys hear him talk about God
a lot in this interview. Little nized Excess talked a
lot about his dad being the influence on his music career,
his dad being a gospel music artist himself, all the things.
So it's very obvious that little nis X comes from
a praying, praying down family. Okay, they say, what he
(04:44):
gonna do. First thing when he get out, give God
all the glory because God is good all the time,
and all the time, God it is good. Amen. That's
my mom over there for y'all who don't know she's
in the building. Is her birthday she has been tagging along.
So yes, that is one of the things that I
wanted to point out first. Right, Another big thing here,
Little knas Ex's dad makes a very big statement. They
asked about drugs because if you guys remember when we
(05:08):
first began to report the story, police believe that Little
knas X was potentially oding or suffering some sort of
something from drugs, but the report was a possible od
so he was taken to a hospital. Before he was
taken to any jail or any type of any other place.
(05:29):
He was taken to a hospital. Now, the reason why
I wanted to point that out is because that changes
the whole story now, right, So if it's not a
possible OD, there's no drugs involved whatsoever, according to his dad,
which his dad just said on the record. I then
start thinking, Okay, what is little Kna's ex's team, legal team.
Where are they about to lean when it comes to
(05:49):
what his defense is? Because I said in the beginning
of this little Knight's excess plant not guilty, and the
charges that he's looking at right now, it's not that misdemeanor.
He is now charged with three counts, a felony battery
with injury on a police officer and one felony account
of resisting an executive officer. Right, But they're pleading not
guilty and they're saying drugs we're not involved. So what
(06:10):
I'm assuming and I am predicting here is that they'll
probably lean into something about a mental state of some sort.
That's one prediction. The other prediction that I think we
could potentially see here that I hope we do not
see here is that Little X will have to come
out and say this was all a prank and that
(06:33):
when the police recalled things went too far, and he's
thinking he can explain that. He will then be able
to show why there was no resisting two police officers
and maybe there was an exchange of some sort, which
we I mean, even with that, there was nothing recorded
by pedestrians, right, And I don't know if these officers
are required body cam or not. To me, I think
(06:55):
it's very it's a huge telltale sign. At number one,
they're pleading not guilty everything, and number two, his data
is saying on record drugs we're not involved. When typically
in a situation like this, if it is a mental
breakdown of sorts, if drugs are involved, you don't come
out and you know, separate yourself from that because that
can help when you know people are thinking about what
(07:17):
the consequence should be here. Now, there are reports that
Little Nize is looking at jail time based on these charges,
but normally when things are reported that way, it's kind
of extreme. It's a bit sensationalized only because I mean,
if you're talking about facts, right, these charges do carry
up to something and typically it's up to jail time.
(07:37):
But when you look at yeah, when you're talking about allegations,
right mom, Yes.
Speaker 4 (07:42):
Now we're talking about allegations.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Yes, well he's been The fact is.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
That he has the answer to the calling of the
police out there. But that's it so far.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Yeah, but here. But the thing is is that so
what I'm trying to get to is all of their
defenses that would help soften this a bit, right, because
in the beginning police said that it was a potential
od so that he might have been on some substance
of some sort, which is why we saw him gallivant
and mine. You ain't see the video, they hait littl
naz X, which is running around La four Am and
panties and the pennies and tidy whities and white boots
(08:16):
and then he strips neked at one point and then
police detain him. But what their a leegend is is
that when they went to detain him he shoved. At
first it was one officer. Now the story has changed
in their a legend that there were multiple officers who
were allegedly in a physical exchange of some sort with
Little nized X, resulting in these new charges I'm basically
saying here, because you can still have a mental episode
(08:38):
of sorts without drugs being involved. So they're either going
to lean into that or mom to explain it to
you and to everyone else who may not know. A
lot of people believe that this is a publicity stunt
by Little nized X because he is a music artist
that is known for doing so right, so I believe
that it could be the mental episode conversation. And you know,
hopefully because his dad did say this clip as well,
(09:00):
he's doing good mentally, so hopefully he's doing good mentally.
Another point that his dad brings up here too is
that his dad says he's going to get all of
the help he needs. So that's what made me think,
I don't think it's going to be the publicity stun thing.
His dad said he's going to get all the help
he needs, meaning that there is something here that they're saying. Okay,
(09:21):
he's not guilty of what the cops are alleging, right,
that's what the Little nas X's legal team is saying.
But at the same time, something happened here where they're
talking about him receiving help of some sort rehabilitation or
something of some sort, but they won't go into what
it is, so they are just clues, context clues. And
I'm picking up from that interview with Little knas Ex's father,
(09:42):
and I was reporting this on the Breakfast Club for
the Latest Who along the roadsa there. I was like,
you know, this makes no sense to me because if
it's a misdemeanor, even if it is, you know, there
was like a bit of resisting or whatever with this
peace officer police officer, right, why is he being held
with no bail? In the beginning, he was being held
with no bail, and then we found out the reason
why he was held was because the type of charge,
(10:03):
and because the charge was what it was, he had
to go see a judge, as you mentioned. But now
it's elevated from a misdemeanor to felony charges. So there's
information here in the middle that we are not privy
to that we I'm trying to figure it out.
Speaker 4 (10:17):
Well, the doctors just probably need to figure it out.
He needs to be tested and seeing what kind of drugs,
and as we know, everyday people, not only superstars, but
everyday people have to be careful about people sneaking drugs,
pills just fills.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Well, we don't know that anybody's snuck him anything.
Speaker 4 (10:41):
No, I'm saying, but.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
If it's behavior, oh you mean, well his dad just
said drugs weren't involved. That's what I'm saying. So that
changes the conversation now, because police were saying they thought
drugs were involved, and they thought he was potentially even with.
Speaker 4 (10:59):
The legend it, I think that the doctor that they
should get some tests done so that they can know
exactly because the guy may not even know what's going on.
It's something that he purposely did have maybe.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
Taken, gotcha, Yeah, yeah, I mean, but it's that the
same drugs were involved, so that would mean that there
would be nothing in his system.
Speaker 4 (11:21):
Yeah, but if the police find his accidents extraordinary, that
which should be a cause for the doctors.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
To still look to see yeah, at least a little Yeah.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
I mean, you know, we don't. I can't. We're in
a time of lazy workers and I know, no, no, no,
it's not. It's that's serious, especially when it comes to
else in welfare, and if there's any potential of something
being him being drugged. I mean, gods get drugged as
(11:55):
well as girls. You know, take out the test do
some and figure it out.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
Yeah, well, we'll have to just wait and see because
as of right now, we don't know anything. All we
know is what we just heard from his dad. All
we know is what just happened during his arraignment hearing.
I told you guys there will be another hearing on
September fifteenth, so we'll be on the lookout. I do
not believe that even if little Nasac doesn't whole sit
down tell all all the things, y'all still ain't gonna
(12:23):
believe him. Now. If he comes out and says, hey,
this was a pr stun and be like, okay, whatever
we knew it, y'all would move on. If he comes
out and says anything beyond that, y'all still are not
gonna believe this little boy at all, because I think
people have their minds made up because of antiics we've
seen from him in the past. And I will say,
because I told you guys via my ex account, make
(12:43):
sure you guys are following me there, Lauren la Rosa.
I break stories across social media, bring it here to
the podcast, take it to the breakfast Club as well.
But if you are following me on social you get
everything fast and first, right, I told you guys on
social that there would be no much shot the first visual,
And you guys will notice this that everyone is grabbing
and hanging on to, is that there's a there's a
(13:03):
zoom visual or video visual of him in court on
the arrangement. And the reason why people are gravitating toward
that is because people just wanted to see it. People
don't believe that this is real. They think that this
is a full stunt of publicity from new music. Now
if I'm little nas X, because y'all not gonna believe
me anyway, it doesn't matter what the real issue is here.
I'm grabbing that screenshot and I'm putting it on merch
(13:26):
Mantaro free Montario, onto Mytario free merch period. All right. Now,
we're gonna move on in the latest because I got
a chance to do Brilliant Idiots. Schultz was not there
when I When everybody I tell that I got that
I was on Brilliant Idiots. Literally everybody tell they be like,
oh my god, how did it go? Was like, I
(13:47):
think people were expecting me to have been there with
Charlemagne and Schultz, and Schultz just be his funny Steff
and me not being able to handle the jokes. But
first of all, I can handle a little Joki joke, Okay.
I think the dynamic on Brilliant Adia is a lot
more fun than Breakfast Club clause it's less people, so
you really get to like get in and you have
more time to Like when I'm doing the latest with
(14:08):
Laura Rosa on here the podcast on the Breakfast Club,
my time is so limited and I have four people
so in that lane. And I also learned a lot
too about playing your role from platform to platform. So
in the role on the Breakfast Club, I'm a lot
of times I'm moderator. Like there are certain times where
I'm you know, reporting or giving a take, but a
(14:31):
lot of times I'm moderating, like I'm throwing the oop
and Jess, Charlotte and Envy are coming in with their takes,
their opinions, and a lot of times my oops are
just you know, here's the fact, like my ALIU might
be the fact. It might be you know, the opening
line to get them into the segment. It might be
the throw to the audio. Brilliant Idiots was so different
because that was my first time in a setting. I
(14:51):
mean we did the This was like one of my
first This was the early episode and the latest with
long the roads of the podcast, so make sure you
guys go back and check this out. But I did
do a sit down interview when we launched the podcast
to celebrate the launch of the podcast with Charlomagne at
the iHeart offices here in New York. But this was
my first time being in a long form space with
(15:13):
Charlemagne and it was so fun. I knew it would
be fun though, because I watched Brilliant Idiots, so I
know that they liked the joke. They have a good time.
I love the way the show is set up where
like they cover topics, they cover everything on there from
like politics to you. We was going to talk about
meatball from Philly, just everything, so it would be a
(15:33):
good time. But I didn't think. I don't think I
knew how well the banter would go because again it
was my first time doing it. But we had a
good time. Take a listen to this.
Speaker 5 (15:47):
This looked to my guy Lad TV man. I know
if last since two thousand and three, Glad, you used
to put me on his mixtapes because you know, the
internet that just started back then, so we used to
I used to put.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
It said, just started insane. I did not know I
know somebody who was there when they start. I'm gonna
tell my niece that she gonna think. I'm all. So
we had fun because I think even in moments like that,
the best thing about the Brilliant Idiots experience was I
(16:19):
feel like their audience got to learn person like my
personality because again, I'm not having to throw any oops.
I'm literally just there. I did realize in the beginning
of it when we were talking about Liana's X, I'm like, yo,
I went straight into no, because here's the detail and
they said this and this is what police said or whatever,
and then I was like, la, you just naturally do that,
(16:41):
like sit back and relax, have a good time, and
then you know, get into the gist of the things.
So we were able to do that. So that was fun.
And I always loved picking on Charlemage and all his
many different face colors. But we did get into we
got into a couple of conversations. So one of the
conversations we got into was start from Kelly Rowland, and
(17:02):
y'all were really really mad at me because I said
this the.
Speaker 3 (17:06):
First time I had a little both friend, his grandmother
compared me to the color of a paper bag and
said that I was too chocolate.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
I literally was like.
Speaker 2 (17:17):
What does that mean?
Speaker 3 (17:19):
And I came home and I talked to my mama
Tea about it, and she said, it's a definition of colorism, and.
Speaker 5 (17:25):
I was like, I'm not exact opposite. Sometimes, man, I'm
laying there and I look at my wife and all
that melon, and I'm like, why would you ever bring
a beige pitbull into this house?
Speaker 2 (17:34):
Why you gotta do all this that. I think it's
fired at me and Jess are on Breakfast Club because
me too. I told her this one time. I'm like, Yo,
when have you ever seen two brown skin like real
black girls in mainstream media? Breakfast Club is mainstream media.
Speaker 5 (17:47):
I said that all it feels so good to have
all this motherfucking melon and in this room.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
And then you call it NB a waffle color negro.
Speaker 5 (17:54):
Well, listen, I believe in colorism, but I believe in
it the other way because of the fact that dark
skinned people have been getting shipped for so long. So yes,
we need to give it back to some of the
waffle colored people. And you know what, just like white people,
as soon as you start the experience what you've given
people for so long, now you want to stop now.
When the rabbit got the gun, it's like whoa.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
Whoa, whoa, whoa whoa whoa, whoa whoa my chin.
Speaker 5 (18:17):
When Nino Brown stabbed that pretty motherfucker from the bank,
Christopher Williams in the hand on New Jack City, he
stabbed him in the hand. He choked him, and he said,
I never liked you anyway. You're pretty motherfucker.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
Y'all was so mad. So first of all, my mom
is super super light skinned. She is freckle faced beauty,
about five.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
Five representation of the international world wide race.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
Well, the reason why I said that is because people
got upset at me because I said, I think it's
fired at me and Jess two Brown's too dark skin,
or I said, said brown skin a dark skin. But
y'all know what I meant. Women mainstream are on mainstream media,
and real black girls like it's fire because we're real
black girls. Child. All the light skinned girls came out swinging.
(19:09):
I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa whoa, Hold on, baby,
I wasn't even that wasn't a shot at y'all, And
which is so weird because it's like, the minute a
dark skinned woman refers to herself as a real black girl,
light skinned women or lighter skinned women instantly take that
as a ditch. And I'm like, we got so much
(19:33):
like we're so at like odds, and there's so much
you know, turmoil in the midst of the two that
so many people miss what I said. It went over
their heads.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
Yeah, again, it went over their.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
Heads because my mom is a light skinned woman, and Mom,
did dad offend you what I said?
Speaker 4 (19:50):
No, because I already know.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
I'm just simply simply trying to make the point I
was trying to get to when I said real black girls.
That wasn't saying that because because we are dark skin
we are only the only people consider real black girls.
What I was talking about is normally in mainstream media
right when it comes to fashion runways, commercials, you know, brands,
(20:13):
even across social media now, radio, television, when you think
about what black women in those spaces, and I mean
dominating in those spaces, so like top shows, you know,
making the real bucks on commercial and stuff like that,
you're not seeing girls that everything's very androgynous. It's like, Okay,
(20:34):
she's a black girl, but like in order for you
to be a dark skin or brown skin black woman,
you know, and a lot of these like what people
would consider these high end, high paid whatever, you know,
places as visual representation of black right. So when you
look at some of the couture ads, runways and all
the things, these women are typically not girls from around
(20:57):
the way. We have Sherry Shepherd on televis, we got
Timron Hall, we have Jennifer Hudson on TV. But for
a while, the only person relatively close to me on
television black woman in that space was Wendy Williams. But
for the most part, and for a long time, in
mainstream media, you did not get that. You were told
(21:19):
to turn it down even hair what you're talking about
getting on a platform with hair color, No, not at all.
That wasn't especially if you were a black girl. It
just wasn't something that you were seeing.
Speaker 4 (21:31):
Their lost Because now when you see all of these
different hairstyles, it's like, wow.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
It is but people still go it's still like a thing. Right,
Like there was a time where all of the journalists
girls who were wearing braids while they were reporting on
local news, were going viral. And the reason why that
is like cause for us, it's like, okay, homegirl got braids.
It's probably hot outside, right, or she about to go
on vacation, or she just want to protect her hair
because she working hard every single day. But it was
(22:00):
going viral because we as black women, were so excited
to see it because in those spaces, you're not seeing
that your hair should be. There's an elitism thing when
it comes to hair, when it comes to look, when
it comes to skin color, like just all these things. Right.
My whole point in all of this was to say
that the comment that I made was more about a
(22:23):
classism thing and you know, getting away from the whole
elitism and honestly erasing those barriers like whether you consider
yourself race, yeah, whether you consider yourself one of those
people who isn't around the way girl or not. Black
women are black women, And for me, I love the
fact that because also too, we have a lot of
conversations about this. I say words, I say them, I'm
(22:46):
learning on air in real time a lot of time.
I remember during the Diddy trial, I did an interview
with the Shade Room and I said something about did
their big one. Everybody in the comms was like, Lauren
should not be talking like that, she is a journalist.
And I'm like, but that's how I talk, Like what
do you want me to do? That is how I talk?
Speaker 5 (23:04):
Now?
Speaker 2 (23:04):
Yeah, I agree certain things for certain places, but I
mean there's some things that you just when you get
when you when you bring me into it, you're going
to get certain things and I can't get away from that.
And what I love about the breakfast club. What I
love about the breakfast club is at the breakfast Club,
they don't run from that, nor do they make us
run from it. I've worked in places where, you know,
(23:26):
the biggest thing in my mind was don't become that
token black girl. So I didn't want to say certain stuff.
I didn't want to talk about certain things. I didn't
want to do certain things because then I would become
the black girl who's the punchline, or the black girl
who has to explained everything I'm saying, or you know,
all the things right even getting your hair done, going
into certain places, you think about, Okay, what questions am
I going to get? What am I going to have
(23:48):
to deal with today? Because I don't went and got
my hair done last night. I don't have to do
that at the breakfast Club. I mean, breakfast Club is black,
but also it's mainstream. All types of people watch the
Breakfast Club and learn from the Breakfast Club and tune
in and all. It's just a it's refreshing to see
and you don't see it. You just don't see it.
(24:10):
So when I made the comment, I was being very
genuine about how I felt and I stanned on that.
But some of y'all got so offended, and I'm like,
but why though, Like, let's have a real conversation about
what I'm actually talking about here. That's it, all right, y'all.
So this has been another episode of the Latest with
Laura le Rosa. I got my mom in the building, y'all,
(24:31):
and hear her look all all episode. Mom, say bye
to the listeners, the low Riders.
Speaker 4 (24:37):
Yes, I'm loving it, Lowrider loving that.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Yes, we got five million people listening.
Speaker 3 (24:45):
Mom.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
Oh that's good. That's good. You wouldn't expect that yesterday
like you do today. But then again, who wants to
live a life without some great impregation and low writing?
You're the greatest and them expectations like people of color,
(25:08):
you're the gravest. The people of different hair, you're the greatest,
because I mean, life would be so worrying without these
great expectations that I'd be loving everywhere I see it.
Speaker 2 (25:25):
Well, guys, I tell y'all at the end of every
episode there is always a lot to talk about at
the end of the day, and you guys could be
with anybody anywhere talking about it, but y'all chose to
be right here with me, and I appreciate you guys
for that. My little riders, it's Lorna Rosa. This is
the latest with Lorna Rosa and I will catch you
guys at my next episode.
