Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
I had to call in reinforcements for the after show
today because my voice is a little messed up.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
Welcome everybody.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
I have mister Bill Costa and Gianna who's sitting in
for Lisa this week.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Thank you both. Thank you. Are you guys feeling okay
better than me? I would assume I'm feeling great.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Gee, your three shows in three morning shows in is
it hitting you yet?

Speaker 4 (00:19):
Yes? I am tired.

Speaker 5 (00:21):
I don't want this is no complaining at all, but
you know, I have to stay for the v Bros.
So I don't leave here until six o'clock or after.
So it's like thirteen fourteen hours in the building every
single day.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Just hold on, hold on, Just look at me when
you talk, because Billy does that every day.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
So I feel for you. Billy doesn't feel bad.

Speaker 5 (00:41):
Yeah okay, but I done my way to TV. Yeah yeah, yeah,
don't feel bad for me. It's just an adjustment. I
don't do this, ye, but it's great.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
So the v BRO started two so this show ends
like tennish the morning show, So then you just hang around.
You know, there's a couch over the corner.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
You could take a nap. That is true.

Speaker 5 (01:02):
I laid on it yesterday. Yeah, but we have other
meetings that I attend, the.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Music meetings, we have music.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
You should have blown those off. You're doing the morning show.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
The label meetings, Oh good.

Speaker 5 (01:14):
We have an air check today for the VI Bros.
And then there's the promotion meeting, the promo meeting.

Speaker 4 (01:20):
So I hang out in those meetings and then.

Speaker 5 (01:22):
I show prep for the v Bros and do a
little more production stuff for the v Bros.

Speaker 4 (01:27):
Till yeah too, to keep me busy.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Well, it went not allowed in the in the label meetings. Yeah,
I now we got banned for a reason.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Do you know why? The candid micropole I like, you.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Never heard these before. It's like for the first it's
like it's like a whole new world for me.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
No one ever knows when he's talking into the candid microphole.
I would pay one thousand dollars for a label guy
to come and get in my girl. What label guy
is going to complain to me? I'll fly to in
New York, labet it. I'll go there now, wait outside
the door.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
And never again.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
What was my complaint? I don't remember because the label
guy when they come backstage at Jingle ball or something
right away. They run over to Justin and say, yeah,
make sure Billy knows we can't talk about this. We
can't talk about that. How about you not come backstage
and just leave us alone.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Yeah that is true, but that particular one, I know
what it was about. So Billy has this thing, Okay,
when a song's coming out and it's top sea and
that we can't play it or talk about it for
the next twelve hours. And his thing is like, well
everyone else will have it, the internet has it, and
I'm always like the label said no, And then he
goes on a rank.

Speaker 5 (02:41):
Yeah, I understand that, though I understand that it couldn't
be fresh.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
It's like even like concerts that are being announced, it's say,
you're right away from the front office, will come down.
You can't talk about this until okay, so we can't
talk about it until everybody else announces it.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Yeah, this is why we don't tell Billy things.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
They keep me out of everything.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
Yeah, oh I got that's funny. But I'm in those meetings. Yeah,
I'm in those label good luck.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Thank you, good luck. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
So three days in filling in for Lisa this week,
first time in mornings here, what are your thoughts, honest thoughts.

Speaker 5 (03:10):
Well, I was telling you justin I had mega anxiety
filling in for Lisa just you know, the pushback if
there was going to be any online just being like,
what the fuck is Gianna doing here?

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Well, because when he was laid off and then not
even a month later your hair filling in, Like yeah
the hell.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
But people have been great.

Speaker 5 (03:28):
People have been I can't believe how warm of a
welcome I've had from not only you guys, but the talkbackers.
It's been great, and I'm having so much fun and like,
not to be cheesy, but I mean, this is a
show that I've listened to since birth. So to be
sitting next to the Billy Costa, and not only that,
filling in for the Lisa Donovan, I'm like, I go

(03:49):
home and I'm like, is this a life that's interesting?

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Because I got a lot of what the fuck?

Speaker 1 (03:57):
Only he doesn't check the DM comment.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Yeah, but when you when you were born, Billy had
been in the air for half a century, you know,
okay og right here?

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Yeah right, probably going to.

Speaker 5 (04:11):
School literally in a car seat, in the back seat
of my mom's car.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Yeah. I used to listen in jail. That's what I
used to listen to, Billy in Jail, That's Maddie show.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
And I used to study the way the clock was
because I was really into radio, so I knew when
Billy's Knews was top of the hour, but I knew
the entertainment reports and I knew all that stuff. And
then I would listen to the way the sound was
played and I'd be like, oh, how they do that?
And then when I came, I learned it all.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
You'd do it better than anyone has ever done it.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Yeah, I'm a little obsessive about it.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
Well, iHeart should fly you around the country to teach
people how to do what you do. And I really
am being honest about that.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Funny you say that I did find out.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
This is one hundred percent and I am proud about this,
is that they do take our show.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
Two things they do.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
One with me is they play our show to other
shows to teach them how to use talkbacks.

Speaker 5 (04:57):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
And the other thing they do, and this is legendary,
they take Billy's Entertainment Report and they bring it around
the country and show other radio talent how to do it.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
It honestly doesn't surprise me.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Yeah, because that's one thing if you notice with Billy's Entertainment.
A lot of other shows which are great, is they'll
just read the story like the headline, maybe a sentence
or two. What's different about Billy is we break down
each story and give an opinion.

Speaker 5 (05:20):
Yeah, you know, yeah, I love it. It's been like
really cool to see you guys at work, you know
because even being in the building, I listen if I'm
up at that hour, and then by the time you
guys leave, I'm coming in and just to see the
way the show operates, I'm like mind boggled and I'm learning.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
I'm really taking everything.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
It's a crazy process. Yeah, behind the scenes, it really is.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Wait till Friday. Oh yeah, Oh Friday is insane because
we're doing multiple things. There's a lot in a guest
coming in. It's very fast paced.

Speaker 5 (05:50):
I bet, I bet Friday is going to be a
crazy day because remember when you guys did the match
game and you gave away a V Bros Night out.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
Oh rightday night, Thursday night, right, Friday, Friday night.

Speaker 5 (06:01):
About that dying like at my last day, full day
afternoon and then a Vbros Night Like I need to
probably apologize to the winner in advance.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Oh, you have to.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
It's a BILLI and I like Fridays. We don't schedule anything.
And there's a rule in my house, like we don't
talk to dad on Friday afternoons.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
Yeah, same thing, Michelle. We never make plans on Friday
Night's very rare because by the time Friday night comes,
it's like, really, who's coming over?

Speaker 1 (06:29):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (06:30):
Yeah, I'm looking forward to it, but I just feel
bad that I'm not going to be myself.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
We allowed to know what the night consists of.

Speaker 4 (06:37):
Yeah, I mean, nothing's confirmed.

Speaker 5 (06:40):
But the last time we did this, we ate at
mystique in encore with the winner.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
Mikey gets it free.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
Of course he learned from you. Oh god, we.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
Don't want to pay out of our own.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
He's got a short arm.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
Yeah, trust me, I know he does. He do this
thing with you not to forget what your spot was.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
I'm kidding my.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
Where he complained about that. He's broke.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
Mikey like that.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
He you know, he doesn't have a lot of money. Motherfucker.
We know how much money you have.

Speaker 5 (07:05):
No, it's more, it's more Frankie is They call him
frugal Frankie Show.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Frankie is more frugal than Mikey.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
Without a doubt in my mind.

Speaker 5 (07:14):
Frankie is like but it's he's so smart. It's like
smart frugality, and he's very strong. So I have no money,
like I spend. I don't care, even though I know
I don't have money. I was just telling you I
bought a three hundred dollars jacket this past weekend.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
Famous Frankie story. When I worked with him. I love
him to death, but this is one of my first
introductions to him.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
We took an uber.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
Okay, the uber was eleven dollars tell me, and he
had me venmo five to him.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
Oh don't repeat that.

Speaker 3 (07:43):
Oh my god, I won't repeat it.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
Really, Yeah, he still has his lunch money from Framingham, Yeah,
confirmation money.

Speaker 4 (07:51):
But again, smart guy.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
Yeah, it is very frugal. She's not Frankie v frugal, but.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
She is actually yeah, his wife Shell, Yeah, he's just smart.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
She hates waste, hates it.

Speaker 4 (08:04):
Yeah, I understand that.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
I'm sorry, go ahead, so you're going as.

Speaker 5 (08:07):
Mystique probably, And then we go to Memoir after all
the club and we wanted we wanted to go when
DJ Costa was DJing, but he's djaying Saturday. So it
was kind of like pick your poison. Do you want
to do the morning show, in the afternoon show all
week and then do the event on Saturday or Friday?

(08:27):
And I was just like, you know what, let's just
do the damn thing Friday.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Well, it's probably a good thing with with DJ Costa
because as small as you are and as small as
he is, he definitely wouldn't be able to see him.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Yeah. I mean if you wouldn't have to stay high
in the DJ booth, they wouldn't even know you were there.

Speaker 5 (08:42):
I've been in the DJ booth with Mikey before and
like all the videos, it's just my head, Bobby, who's that?

Speaker 1 (08:50):
Where?

Speaker 3 (08:50):
She said?

Speaker 1 (08:51):
John is here?

Speaker 5 (08:52):
From?

Speaker 3 (08:53):
Where is she?

Speaker 1 (08:56):
Jump?

Speaker 2 (08:58):
All right, So you have two days left, So thank
you for joining us this week. It's been great.

Speaker 4 (09:02):
Thank you. I'm like, I'm going to miss you guys.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
I'm gonna said, well at Lista might be off again,
Billy might be off again, and Mike you will sit in.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
That's how it works.

Speaker 4 (09:10):
Yeah, and thank you for trusting us to do it.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Yeah, that's what we do. One big family here. Kiss
want to wait. Yeah, we gotta go to a meeting
now and get yelled at.

Speaker 3 (09:20):

Speaker 1 (09:20):
Let me know what they say.

Speaker 4 (09:21):

few months.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
