Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, Gianna, plug those headphones in. Are you ready
to go? There? Kid? All right, welcome to the After
Show podcast. I'm justin And typically this would have been
a solo podcast, but a couple of things going on
now now Gianna with the after Show obviously, you know,
there's been through many changes and all that stuff, and
then it was just me, right, and so I didn't
know where to keep it going or whatever, and people
(00:21):
were like, no, keep it going, yeah, because we've built
this army, this after show army, and they said, you know,
you can do the show yourself or have guests. So
that's what I've been doing. And I'm the solo ones.
What I do is I just try to like spit game.
I guess, you know, things that I've gone through are
things that are happening in my relationship or fatherhood or life. Yeah,
(00:41):
and people seem to like it. Yes, son, I was
gonna do that today, but I'm not feeling that well.
I feel okay, it's just my voice, it's your voice. Yeah.
So I literally opened the door and I go, Gihanna,
let's go. I need I need you to help me
out a little bit.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Here.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
I got you, I got you.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
How are things going good?
Speaker 3 (00:56):
Really good? I am having the best time. I told
you I'm a crier. I almost cried today actually on
the air.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Off on the air, what.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
You played a talk back from somebody so nice and
she just said, like Gianna said my name correctly. Yeah,
you're doing such a good job. Your energy is contagious.
And I was like, it just made me want to cry.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
Oh yeah, that's listener Shannon. She's very, very very nice, Shannon.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
And I love you, thank you. Yeah, it's been great again,
I've said a million times. I was very anxious to
fill in for Lisa, just because of the current climate
of the radio station. I knew people were going to
be a little crazy. People still are a little crazy
on social They're like, what the fuck are you doing there?
Get Lisa back. I'm like, she's coming, don't worry. Tomorrow's
my last day on the show and she'll be back
(01:41):
and it's fine. But I'm just glad everyone trusts me
to yep.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
Yeah, well that's what you do. Yeah, yep, yep. You
could do what I do is be petty and just
block all the people that say negative things.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
I've thought about that, but like.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Yeah, hold on, hold on, this is funny. So one
of the I had said to Gianna last week, I said,
you have to pare yourself for negative comments and stuff
because they had been coming. And then, you know, I
think a video posted on Monday, and you know, I
happen to look. I didn't see any comments or maybe
like a couple of good ones. And so then Gianna
I said, oh, doing pretty good here, and you go, wow,
there's like four or five on the video. I go,
(02:16):
know they weren't Seeah, they were, And I realized I
had blocked those people. Yeah you did, so I didn't
see them.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Oh I saw everything.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
My thing is I block people if it's really bad,
if they're like harassing me, they're being creepy. But when
it's just like oh they're just talking to talk or
commenting just because they have no life, I'm like, you're
helping my engagement. Yeah, I mean my social skyrocketed just
from being on the Morning show this week. It's crazy.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Yeah, I don't. I try not to block people. I
try to do the same. I try it to block
people that are just stating their opinion, like they're hurt
that there were changes. Yeah, when he was laid off,
like they heard about that course, but they still listen
to the show and they're gonna give it a shot,
you know. And even if they give it a shot
and they're like, listen, it's not from me, that's okay.
It's the ones that just like super mean.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
You know, people are so fucking mean.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Yeah, I'm mean, you must get it a lot too,
because well, not a lot, but as a female, you know,
not a ton.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
I will say, I'm very thankful that I haven't gotten
that much hate over the years. It's been like a
select few. My most recent little mishap was with a listener. Actually,
she's always DM me like I love you, I love
the show, I love my god, you're amazing. Da da da.
And then she did the thing where she meant to
send a message to somebody else about me, but she
(03:34):
sent it to me, and I was like, oh, it
took everything in me not to be like you bleep
bleep bleep.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
And it was talking shit. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
She was just like, oh, Like, it was right after
my my surgery, my breast augmentation, and so I was
already feeling like you would think i'd be like I'm
on top of the world. Da da da, But I
was like, oh, I'm still not comfortable. I'm numb, I'm
in pain. I don't know what looks good on me.
I don't want to be too showy. I was like
in my head about the surgery and it was like
the first outfit I had worn after the surgery. I
(04:03):
posted a mirror selfie and she's like, god, that whatever.
She said that skirt looks awful on her, and I
was like, okay, hey, it's me, and she was like, oh,
I didn't mean it at all. You know, I love you.
And then she sent me a message this week and
she was like, I love listening to you in the morning,
and I just I didn't answer, but I didn't block
her because I'm like, you keep messaging me, you keep
liking my shit. Yeah, you can stay, you can stay.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
It's petty. It's petty to block people, and I know that. Yeah.
I actually did reverse a bunch of blocks because oh
you did me. Yeah. I initially I was getting talkbacks
from people that and I felt so bad. They go, look,
you blocked me. I really don't know why, but like,
I love following you, and I love able and Gema
and I love following your life. Yeah, I understand that
people were just upset. I get it.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
I get it too. But on the same hand, you
got to just think like a human and you have
to humanize us as people, like we were obviously going
through it when everything happened, Like what do we have
to do with any right? Like, and then you have
people I was pulled into the Reddit shit being like, oh,
I can't believe they didn't get rid of Gianna instead
(05:08):
I hate her, and like that really hurt me. That
really really hurt me, because like I'm just a people pleaser.
I want to please everybody. My thing in life that
I hate the most is making other people upset, whether
I did it like by accident or whatever. So it's
like that really like hurt my feelings. So that's like,
so to protect our own brains, the block is the
(05:31):
best route sometimes, and I hope people can understand that.
But it's nice that you unblock them, and it's nice
that they like kind of apologize, Yeah I.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
Did, I did, And I do understand. I don't approve
of writing negative shits online, but I get that we're
a part of people's lives. They listen every day. We're
like family. We talk, we talk like we're family, and
when there's a change so abrupt like that, you get angry.
I understand completely, but I've explained this before not to
keep beating a dead horse. This is what happens in
(06:01):
media in general.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
Sucks.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
It sucks, happens on TV, it happens in radio. People
at TV shows, you know what I mean, They just
like it's a corporate thing. There's like, these are the
changes we're making. Move on.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
Yeah, And also, like I don't think people understand that
when the layoffs happen, because they've happened multiple times over
the last few years, we sit here and like shit
ourselves because it could be us. It's like, way, wait, wait,
Like you know, the word, the word spreads like wildfire,
and then it's like, okay, wait, it is it coming
this way? Like who, God, I could be fucking next.
(06:34):
God only knows that. God truly only knows, and it
comes out of nowhere. So it's like we're so blindsided
by ever. It's just it's crazy. It's crazy.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
Do you want to hear my thoughts on that. I
get my attitude towards that because I think about that too,
and this is how you should think too. Okay, I'm
gonna spit a little game at you. Okay, if that
ever does happen, Okay, don't look at as a negative, right,
So if it ever were to happened, I myself would
be sad and I would be upset, of course, of course.
(07:03):
But at the end of the day, we won, yeah, right,
because we grew up here in this city. It's not
like we're working in radio in a different city. We
grew up listening to this radio station and look where.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
We made it, Like, oh my god, I did it.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
They can never take that away from us never, you know.
So at the end of the day, it will be sad,
but it is a victory exactly that we even made
it here.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
Yeah, you know, it is it really, It's very true.
It's like I never even thought I'd be here a
b even if I did think someday I'll be on
kiss one A wait, I'm like, oh, probably won't happen
until I'm in my thirties forties. I'm gonna have to
work my ass off for years and years, probably start
in the middle of nowhere in Kansas until I get
to that point. It's like, wait, I'm already here, Like,
(07:44):
like you said, God, forbid. Of course it's going to
be easier said than done if that ever happened to
oh to be like, oh I did it, Like that's amazing,
Like of course we're gonna grieve and again, God forbid.
But sometimes I don't even like to talk about it
because I'm like, what if I'm accidentally manifesting.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Now? The only thing that we can do is just
keep showing up, keep working hard, keep giving our best.
I mean, these are basic life things, and I'm not
saying that's going to prevent it from happening totally, but
at least if it does happen, you know that, Like
your side of the street is clean, Yeah, and you
did what you had to do. Yeah, that's what I do.
You know, I love working on this show. It's my life.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
You're fucking great at it. Oh, thank you very much,
Like fantastic. I'm not even trying to kiss your ass.
I the way I've watched you work the last four days,
I'm I knew you were a hard worker. I knew
everything you did being on the afternoon show, but I
didn't know the extent. I've never seen it, so to
see it, I'm just mind blown. You You do so much.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
You can come on the after show anytime. Just keep talking. Yeah, no,
I know, I just I don't know. Man. I think
that I've been through a lot of stuff in my life.
It's well documented and I think that I'm blessed because
I've seen the other side. So the fact that I'm
here motivates me even more, right because I'm like, look
(08:59):
where I made it. Keep this going. And like I said,
I never thought i'd be here either, just like you did.
Never thought you would be here. I never thought that. Yeah,
you know, I remember like being in jail listening to
the radio, not ever thinking that it could would happen,
or that I could happen. So it can happen for anybody.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
Wild.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
That's the biggest message too, that I give to people
when I go and share my story. Like adolescents, I
do a bunch of that stuff. Whatever. I don't need
to talk about it and brag about it, but I
want to make a point that I make that point
to them, especially if they have criminal records or they
have broken homes and they have no but no support,
Like it's never too late. As long as you're alive.
If you have a criminal record, doesn't matter. You can
(09:39):
do it. You can live your dream. Yeah, that's the
biggest message it is. You know what I mean, because
look at me. Yeah, I'm telling you.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
Prime example right there. But yeah, it's been a great
week and I appreciate you guys and the listeners. Fun, right,
it's so much fun. I'm honestly gonna be sad when
the show ends tomorrow. I'm gonna be really upset. I'm
not gonna lie like this is. I don't care about
the three am wake up. It's been worth every second.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
Yeah, truly. Well, it's kind of gonna be like like
the billion Mikey thing, you know where if Lisa needs
to be out, you can jump in like Mikey does
for Billy Gladly. The issue is who the fuck fills
in for me?
Speaker 3 (10:17):
I know, are you going anywhere? Justin any times?
Speaker 1 (10:20):
No? But I can't. I have to come in. I
always come in, no matter what I know. I don't
ever take any time off.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
That's right. That makes me sad because who would fill.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
In for you? Producer Riley would be the best bet
I think I.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
Was gonna say. She's probably the only one that knows
how to do what you do.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
I've trained her to kind of know the majority of it. Yep.
And she's doing a fantastic job on the board.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
Oh my god, unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
I mean you see what she's doing when she's running
back and forth answers.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
And then doing the traffic on top. I mean, you
guys are just it's such a well oiled machine.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
Yeah, we're hustling, you are, We're hustling. So one more day,
one day in the morning. We'll have some fun tomorrow.
So remind you can always leave a talk back for
the after show and I will play them. Actually, I
should get to one right now before we go, because
I keep forgetting I'm sorry. So okay, So the question
is oll, the thing is that people want me to
have guests, not just like guests like you, but also
other guests like.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
Okay, I know this is probably a super far fetched,
like I guess request, but one person I would love
to have on the podcast would be your wife, Jen,
which I know she works every day so is probably
not feasible at all, But if it ever was, I
feel like that would be so fun.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
So my wife, Yes, that would be fun.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
That'd be fun, and you could do it at home, Yeah,
record it at home. You have the technology right, and
that would be really fun.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
That is a good idea. We could tell our story
and she could tell like everybody about me. Yeah, and
what it's like to be married to me. Oh yeah,
it's not easy.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
We need to hear it.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
Trust me, it's not easy.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
You're self aware.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
Yeah, all right, so I'll work on that, but everybody
else leave a talk back. And tomorrow, no promise of
a podcast, cause it's John And tomorrow Friday, you're going
to see craziness. Fridays are super busy, I've heard, so
prepare yourself. I'm bucking up and after show Amy, we
will talk soon. Bye bye,
