time after the show, I wassitting here like a good school child waiting.

(01:45):
But you took too long. Butanyway, we do have a special
guest in the building, very veryspecial guest. So if you listen to
the radio station, if you're listeningto a billion liase in the morning,
you know you hear me talking aboutthis power of recovery, which is uh,
you know, and I tell Italked about my my addiction as well.
You know, I'm open about it. And uh power of recovery is

(02:05):
uh, it's a recovery treatment center, treatment, you know, outpatient.
They don't have an impatient though impatient, no, impatient. That's the voice
of Maddie Powers. He's the ceMaddie. Maddie, you know you said,
Michael from Manhattan. I had Mikein my house and you were right
about move up to the microphone,Maddie. So, Maddie Powers is the
CEO of Power of Recovery and hecame in to record a commercial with me.

(02:30):
Updated commercial. Welcome, thank you, thank you. How are you
feeling I'm feeling great, feeling good. I'm feeling good, always feeling good.
You give me Ronnie Vibes from JerseyShore, if he had if he
yeah, he does. He's gotsome issues, Ronnie. Ronnie. Well,
Ronnie's got some current issues that youdon't have. Yeah, you know,

(02:52):
but no, I do get thatvibe. It's not a bad No,
it's not a bad thing. Everyonethought. Everyone think he's hot.
This is one thing you have toknow about whinning. Every compliment is a
backhanded complimented. Okay, I gotRonnie Vibes. Okay, but I'm excited
to have you here because I hearlike all the good work that you guys
do. So CEO. I know, ce you know what that stands for.

(03:15):
They'll have executive officer. Now,what's a COO chief operating officer,
and that would be Damon. Damon. Who's his partner? What's the CFO?
Oh? Chief fucking Oh? Igot it? Financial? Financial?

(03:38):
We don't have any money. Therewe go, there we go. So
Maddie explain to the people Power ofRecovery. Power of Recovery is a p
hp IOP program. Okay, whatis that? It is an outpatient program.
It's like intensive therapy. We havegroups day to day. You get
one on one therapy. We havelife clinicians, stuff like that. It's

(04:01):
to help you along in your earlyrecovery. That's right. It just it
caught. It caught on, youknow. But you started in sober sober
living, sober houses. How manyof those? I've been in a lot.
I grew up in Chelsea's House soberliving. We started that around twelve,
twelve and a half years ago.We started with six people. Yep,

(04:26):
we get over two hundred and thirtynow, wow, and clients that
live in those houses. How manyhouses do you have? Men and women?
Oh? Twelve? Wow? Sowhen I got clean, there was
a guy who had an old timerwho had been cleaned for a long time.
His name was Chelsea Bob and hewas from Chelsea, and so he
was obviously a mentor to Maddie becauseMaddie's from Chelsea and that's what the house

(04:46):
is named after. You. Yes, sir, he died with twenty six
years clean from a secondary illness.Well that's great because you can't ask how
long you've been clean. Thirteen anda half years and then you're fifteen.
I am, yeah, fifteen,brag. He's you'll get there, You'll
get there. That's sorry. Mywife has six months over me. I
love I love how it's like inthe cleans, in the clean road.

(05:09):
It's like I have twelve years andI have fort Well, you got to
be proud, yeah, but itreally is one day at a time.
But you know, sometimes you gotto flex it, you know, every
once in a while, every oncein a while. I've learned so much
through well, I I think we'veall had people that have been touched by
addiction. One of my cousins passedaway from a heroin addiction. And learning
from addressing and seeing how you guyshave really come, your friends and Jen

(05:30):
and you, and and then youhave so many other friends come in that
have been through addiction. It's likethese programs literally are life saving, like
and every and people try, likemy cousin went ten times to rehab and
just it does. It's just sohard. It took me eleven years to
get thirty days clean. Yeah,so it's that's why you can never say

(05:53):
he's not going to get it,she's not going to get it. You
never know. You never know.Day is your day. Yeah, keep
trying well in power of recovery issuper important too, because even if somebody,
even if you got you can't helpthe person or the person's loved one,
you can. They can direct tosomebody who can't, right, you
know what I mean. So eitherway that they're to help, that's I
love. That's outpatient because I thinkpeople think I can't go away for thirty

(06:15):
I can't afford it. You know, you can go to June nine to
five and or whatever and still gettreatment. Oh yeah, definitely, we
have nighttime. We open back upfrom five thirty to eight thirty. You
know, it's funny. The mentorsof mine when I got clean, who
I mean, there's still my mentors, but or really important early on in
my recovery. Are the counselors atthat power of recovery? Wow, that's

(06:36):
awesome. Yeah, it's it's prettycool. I'm out here doing this stuff
and I'm over here at work, and and like my sponsor works there,
so I know now my people aregetting the same exact treatment I get.
So, do you guys have sponsorsfor life? If you're smart? If
you're smart, yeah, if you'reI've had my entire time, the entire

(06:56):
time. But you know, onetime I said, recently on the show,
see if you remember this, Isaid, uh, I said,
I what we were talking about it? I said, A friend of mine
once told me, if you stepin dog shit, you can be mad
you stepped in dog shit, orgrateful you had shoes on. It's about
perspective. Yeah, that's his sponsorthat said that. Okay, but you
guys have different sponsors, have differentsponsors. Yeah, but I had under

(07:17):
a year clean and I was ata meeting and his sponsor spoke and he
said that I almost fell off thechair. Wow. That No, that's
true. It is all. Well, that's I love about people that like
in the in in like the cleanworld, like you know, so recovery.
Sorry, I don't use the perspectiveis just like we all the time
we joke around and you're like,I'll be like, oh my god,
I'm so fucking mad about something withwhere I could be like, Winnie,

(07:39):
I've done time. I lived onthe streets with that. What did Heroin?
Like? This is fine? AndI'm like and I'm like, okay,
never mind, Like he made I'mlike, all right, you know
what I'm gonna Because you're a you'rea half glass empty pressure, everything's negative
to you. You actually use recovery, you can benefit could use recovery just
the perspective alone. But so Maddiehere, we're going to record a new

(08:01):
commercial because you know what's coming upwhen he I don't know what's coming up
in November? Yes, is thatwhen a lot of people Yeah, yeah,
that's the Triple Crown. So it'sthat's Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's
New Year's. Yeah. So we'regonna do a commercial on that because it's
a super important time right now andat a time when a lot of people
struggle. So we're going to readthe commercial and stuff in a minute.

(08:24):
But can I ask a question aboutthat? Is that because there's so much
temptation and from in those six weeksbetween parties. It could be that.
Yeah, or sometimes people's fam familiesare displaced. You know, it's a
time for family. But if you'rea fuck up and you're not cool with
your family, you're alone. That'sanother big thing. That was what it
was like for me. So I'mnot I won't share this in the commercial

(08:46):
because it's a little bit too agrandsom for the radio. I'll share it,
yeah, though, because this iswhere it should live. You know,
in our literature, recovery literature, wheny it talks about you know,
addiction brought us to animalistic levels, that's what it said, right. So
I remember I had a restraining orderon the house, my family house.
I wasn't allowed there. I wouldbe arrested. Right. So it was

(09:07):
winter, obviously November, and itwas cold, and I was sleeping outside.
So I went to my I calledmy grandfather and begged him, please,
could you just let me stay there? And he, without telling my
father or anybody else, he unlockedthe window in the basement for me to
sneak in late at night and sleep, right, So that's what I was
doing. And then on Thanksgiving,my entire family was upstairs eating and no

(09:30):
one knew that I was down there. I was down there by myself,
and my grandfather would sneak away witha plate of food and he would leave
it at the top of the stairsof the basement, and so then I
would walk up there and grab thefood like a fucking animal. Animal.
So when I read that in theliterature, I was like animalistic level,
and I thought about I was likean Anni, did you take a dog?

(09:50):
Yeah? Oh my god, it'scrazy. So, yeah, it's
an important time for helping out.He was a lifesaver man. Yeah,
he was a lifesaver. So sothat's why Maddie's here. We're going to
record a great well. I'm gladI caught you. Glad. It's it's
really amazing how nice she's being.I am nice. Oh my god,
I just figured it out. Ijust figured it. Oh my god,

(10:11):
she thinks you're hot. No,I don't think she's never nice. No,
I am always. It's just justinthat brings out this right. If
you want to admit I'm good, look, no way around it. Get
this. He is married. Yes, that's how the ring to a girl
to a girl that I got cleanwith. I was in a half white

(10:33):
house, my last half way housewith with his one. You find it's
easier to be romantically involved with peoplethat have gone through what you've gone through
and now been clean or does itjust suck as much as us regular people?
I mean yeah, I will saythough on that is I'm super grateful

(10:56):
for my wife obviously, but youknow, every marriage has its issue.
But I will say I have aclose friend of mine who had a long
time cleaning just relapsed, you know, for whatever reason. But his wife
is normal, and yeah, shedrinks what is normal And a big issue
was that is that he didn't drinkwhether when he used to, and so

(11:16):
eventually now he picked it up.And you know, it's not her fault,
it's his fault. But I thinkabout that and I'm like, man,
I said to him, don't youcome back to recovery? And he's
like, honestly, my wife wouldleave me if I do well, as
as somebody that I have been with, people that have had, you know,
some mental health or addiction issues.I don't indulge, but like I

(11:37):
could, and I was, Iwould just choose not to if that was
going to risk myth well normal,so she probably has her own addiction issues.
If she's gonna somebody that won't drinkwith her, that's its own issue.
It is she should go to Powerof Recovery. She should, she
should, very good, Winnie, all right, so we're gonna record this
commercial. We'll be back tomorrow.Do we have a meeting tomorrow? Yeah?

(11:58):
No, No, next week, next week, every other one.
Oh, I can't even play this, Whinnie, is just a ray of
sunshine today. Winnie, be happy, you are happy today. I feel
like you're crushing on Maddie recovery.Anyway, Yeah, both you say hi
to my sister Annie. She listensevery day. Hi you listen to the
