Speaker 1 (00:01):
Jordan.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
Morning's Dirty on the thirty, Shannon.
Speaker 3 (00:03):
While we start off the dirty this morning, we have
a very special guest here with.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Us this morning.
Speaker 3 (00:09):
This man is the senior vice president of business Operations
for the Detroit Tigers. His name is Bobby Hoakstra. Yeah,
and Bobby, if you can get us heaters. Well look
at you, man, you're Are you a former player or
what's the story?
Speaker 4 (00:24):
Oh wish I keep I keep telling them I'm ready,
but they haven't.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
They haven't put me on the field game.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Will you play on my JCC Men's League team? For
guys sakes, we need a center. What's happening? You got
a spot? Let's do it?
Speaker 2 (00:35):
So?
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Hey, tell us how excited are you for the opening
day game today?
Speaker 2 (00:39):
But also the just the start of the season. Thrilled?
Speaker 4 (00:42):
You know, this is a huge milestone for us every
year and something we're working towards all off season. So
you know, when you're in the winter, everything's dark and cold.
We finally made it. It's summer, it's baseball, Tigers are back.
So it's a great day.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
What what does a job like yours entail like? Are
you dealing with all the fans in the stands dealing
with the players and contracts.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
What do you do?
Speaker 4 (01:04):
What's your job? Yeah, it's it's anything and everything. So
you know, I oversee our finance side too, but that's
every dollar in and out we're analyzing. But then just
business strategy, we want to you know, bring in as
much money as we can on the business side and
then we're going to go spend that all on our
baseball team and make sure we're making smart decisions.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
About how we do that.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
All right, all right, I like this, and you've got
a lot of players that are literally up up and
coming and they're on first year or first contracts and
stuff like that. So you got your work cut out
for you, especially after the way that that team came
on at the end of last season too.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
Absolutely, it's you know, it's getting exciting on the field. Obviously,
we have our young core and so many guys that
we're excited about that are going to be here for
a long time. And then we're also going to work
supplementing that. So you know, as you can see, whether
it's with Flarity, cob Taurus, all these guys, like we
spent some money this offseason, We're gonna keep doing that.
We just gotta. We just got to keep finding it
and we'll go We'll go find something to spend it on.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
It's interesting, you know, I followed baseball a lot Kevin,
and Kev's a huge NBA guy, so he follows the
NBA a lot and also a lot. I know a
lot of our listeners are fantasy people too. But it's
wild because I really there was a couple of free
agents I thought we were going to get, and then
I started reading some of the stories about like Bregman
and stuff where they said we were very close to
(02:17):
getting him. Sometimes I feel like the ones you miss
out on are actually good for you that you miss
out on them, and then the ones that you end
up getting, like the Flairty one getting him back, the
fact that you guys were able to trade him, get
a bunch of, you know, good prospects, and then bring
him back. He obviously likes it here enough to be
able to resign with you guys.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
Yeah, I mean that one worked out about as good
as any deadline trade. Can. You know? We got awesome players,
we love Sweeney and Lorenzo Jackets to go win a
World Series and then come back home to us, So
that one's great, and then you know, even just the offseason,
you never know what's going to happen, what deals are
going to come to fruition or not. That's what makes
our jobs stressful but also very fun because you literally
(02:55):
don't know what's going to be available, and you got
to be agile and quick when you see the right
opportunities real quick.
Speaker 5 (03:00):
Twenty five years we're celebrating this year being the head
of BO. No that's not it saysn't sound of sexyes
business operations.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
But I'm a short guy.
Speaker 6 (03:09):
BO.
Speaker 5 (03:10):
Give me some sneak peaks, man, some some surprises that
we can expect from you.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Guys this season.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
Yeah, so you know we've got a lot on deck
to help celebrate our our twenty fifth season here. You know,
we've amplified our theme weekends. We have one specifically tied
to our twenty fifth anniversary celebration. So there's gonna be
a lot of you know, vintage look backs and things
that people have loved about this park the entire time here.
But you know, we've got the full promotional calendar this year.
There's stuff to get excited about all summer, whether that's
(03:36):
our giveaways, more of our theme weekend. So we've got
Strikeout Cancer Weekend, we have Black and Baseball Weekend, we
have vs. T T Grays. You know, all of our
different theme nights throughout on single games too, So there's
something for everybody. There's a ton of reasons to get
to America Park this year. We're gonna have a lot
of fun.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
I want that jacket. Look at this night. No that
is like that? Looks like you do they have that
in the the team store here.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
Oh yeah, these are in the store.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Buddy, Bobby Hoastrow, where's your office around there? Where you are?
Speaker 3 (04:06):
Are you up in one of these offices up there? Yeah,
we're over there. Where's where's Chris at? Where's where's mister Elichad?
Is he right around here?
Speaker 4 (04:14):
He's got a sweet up there? All right, he'll be
at the park today.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
I love it here. Yeah, tell him that. Tell him that.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Mojo and Shannon and Kevin said, thank you for having
us out. We really appreciate it, buddy.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
Absolutely love to have you guys.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
All right.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
I love it, love this team. I love the Tigers.
I'm going to tell you this. I mean, obviously you
look at what we got right here. Okay, we just
saw that their season gave us so much excitement. This
team gave us so much excitement until you know, going
into the football season. It's cool to see winning going
on in Detroit again. It's a great sports town. Oh yeah,
it's obviously. We we love you know, everyone coming alive
(04:46):
for what we're doing. Our two playoff games last year
with forty five thousand people here, we'll have forty five
thousand again today. It's awesome to see the city come
alive and not just for us, you know, seeing you know,
the Wings are on it up for trajectory, but also
what the pistons and lines and there. Amazing time to
be in Detroit as a sports fan.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
And great job with Jason Bennetti last year too. I
love it.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
I love that.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
That was a great move.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
Yeah, he's He's been so awesome for our broadcast and
he I could listen to him talk all day, like
the references, the stories like he is a shark.
Speaker 7 (05:15):
And also just as a human being a really great guy.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
Yeah, came on with us and has been good to
so I appreciate you so much. Come on again with us.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
Hey, I'm here when you need me, Basketball Radio, whatever
you need.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
I'm a double X. I'll talk to you in a second.
Speaker 4 (05:32):
Jackets too. We'll work at a right.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
Thanks. I appreciate you so much, man Shannon, what's up
in the show?
Speaker 7 (05:38):
Up as its dirty degrees warmer than it was by
the way an hour ago.
Speaker 3 (05:42):
You want to know what players to sign? This guy
right here, this is our boss, Tony Travado here. I
heard that it was Sonny, so I wanted to come out.
Speaker 7 (05:48):
Yeah, right now, right now, all right, let's get into
the dirty. This Michigan couple that's been in a Mexican
prison for the past month over a time share dispute. Finally,
yesterday it came back home to Michigan. Christy and Paula
Keo had been behind bars in a maximum security prison
in Cancun after being accused of defrauding Palace resorts out
(06:12):
of more than one hundred and sixteen thousand dollars. So
yesterday they were on a private jet with Michigan Representative
Tom Barrett coming home.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
President's Tom Barrett and Paul here with Paul and Christi
a Ko.
Speaker 4 (06:24):
We are on our way back.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
To the United States. Thank you so much for your help,
your investment in this cause, and your team and everything
you did to help them get loose and get free
and come back to America. Wanted to thank you so
much for all your health.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
Thank you so much, President Trump. We appreciate it more than.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
You even know.
Speaker 7 (06:42):
By the way, that the reason that they're profusely thanking
President Trump is because just about a week ago, the
President got word of this reached out to Hayes hostage
team to resolve this immediately. So drama isn't folding in
the Beckham family as in David and Victoria Beckham. Two
of the boys are not speaking to each other, and
this all has to do with a woman. Brooklyn and
(07:05):
Romeo Beckham are not on speaking terms at the moment,
and a woman named Kim Turnbull is at the center
of this. So Kim hooked up with Brooklyn several years ago.
He's now married to Nicola Pelts, but his brother Romeo
is now hooking up with Kim.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
Right, you know what they need? So they shared there,
they shared a woman.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
What they need to keep them together is what Bruce
Willis and Demi Moore's kids.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
Do they need to bathe together?
Speaker 3 (07:33):
Okay you said, Okay, they need to all that's how
they keep a family together when you're dating the same person.
Speaker 7 (07:40):
Well, here's the thing. This is now gotten to the
point where Brooklyn and Romeo will not even be in
the same place at the same time if Kim is there.
So Brooklyn and his wife absent from David's big fiftieth
birthday party because Romeo and Kim were there. Brooklyn and
Nicola skipped Victoria Beckham's fashion show last month because Kim
(08:03):
was there. So this is not good. And Leslie Lowa
back lower back tattoos, also known as tramp stamps are
becoming popular again, you guys. Tattoo artists are saying they've
seen upticks in request for tramp stamps, and it's a
lot of younger people who want these, and it's females
(08:27):
specifically wanting to reclaim negative stereotypes which were once used
to kind of, you know, like trash them because everybody
thought that a tramp stamp was trashy.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Well no longer.
Speaker 7 (08:38):
The tramp stamp is now a form of empowerment and
a lot of people are realizing that the lower back
is the perfect spot for a decorative piece of body art.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
So it's coming back.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
Get in a second life, you know what, no, I
was gonna say.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
I will never forget the contest we did for kid
Rock tickets when we did a gramp stamp and we
had a grandma and grandpa go.
Speaker 6 (09:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
It was a great contest. You want the top five
songs in the country, I do. Let's go top five songs.
Number come on, Drake, number five in the country. Your
favorite paint Pony Club, shopple Wrong, you love this?
Speaker 2 (09:17):

this is gonna be my song today. The player did it.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
I bet he would get a lot of girls going
crazy coming in.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
Number four, wallin just in case.
Speaker 3 (09:33):

Billboard one hundred charts.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Let me hear that, Zach Crank. I want to hear
that song over the hed. Someone out on nine.
Speaker 3 (09:46):

Speaker 2 (09:48):

Speaker 4 (09:54):

Speaker 7 (10:00):

Speaker 5 (10:05):

Speaker 3 (10:11):
It's still on the chart.
Speaker 7 (10:13):
Boy, this is already playing at some tailgate somewhere around Comerica.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
Bark right now.
Speaker 6 (10:20):
Yeah, and then the tipsy number two songs in the Country,
Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars so Far, no Rake, no Kin Drink,
No Kendrick Surprising.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
All right, die with a smile.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
By the way, Jon said, Tony Travado comes out when
it's warmer and he thinks that all the complaining we
did all day was a bunch of bull crap.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
I'm fine now, aren't you? Actually? I know if it
was like this at five o'clock this morning, it would
all be good. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (10:57):
Some players out here stretching now too.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
And the number one song right now in the countryman.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
Almost seven days driving h.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Five if as.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
Well as mine not taking hand the means in front
of that, you should do something to that.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
Hit them strictly with the five.
Speaker 5 (11:17):
It's about video dance that had a lot chi fan.
