Speaker 5 (00:55):
You called TJ. He'll make them pay?
Speaker 4 (00:57):
Uh, Ryan, we got it's We're here at Ksbar, where
we'll be open for lunch and eleven. There's already folks here.
We got a couple of people here who won a
raffle from Louisville to be here, which is very exciting.
We've got who's from Carlisle. Somebody was from Carlisle. Shelbyville,
we have Shelbyville.
Speaker 5 (01:15):
Who were you, count Adare County, Indiana, Mount Sterley.
Speaker 6 (01:20):
Look at that?
Speaker 4 (01:21):
Look at that. It's America, right, Hodgepodge of America. Glad
to have him.
Speaker 5 (01:26):
They were telling me they played golf at the Louisville Cardinal.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
Club and they all wear UK gear the whole time
they play.
Speaker 6 (01:33):
I like that. We used to do that.
Speaker 5 (01:35):
And then they told us does not come back anymore.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
But I bet that would change now maybe they would,
maybe they have a different administration.
Speaker 6 (01:40):
Well, you know, I think if you would show up
in your UKKSR stuff, you might get some strange Do
you remember that one dude?
Speaker 5 (01:45):
What was it?
Speaker 6 (01:46):
Who was he?
Speaker 4 (01:46):
There was a guy he ran that golf course. I
think I could be wrong about this, but I think
it was that course. Remember he hated you and I.
They don't remember. I believe it anyone that there was
a guy on Twitter who he was? I think he
was a golf cardinal club. If he was not, might
be golf proed a different place up there. But he
was the angriest Louisville fan. And that's saying something because
I yesterday heard from a lot of them.
Speaker 6 (02:09):
She did pop back up, Yes did.
Speaker 7 (02:12):
Yeah, we'll talk.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
I want to talk about that in a minute. But
first of all, two very important things have happened, right,
I want you to know. Number One, yesterday, I'm fade this.
We had a great episode. You should listen to it.
You can learn a lot about me and Drew in it.
But in the conversation I learned something about Drew. I
felt like, after all these years, I knew everything there
was to know about Drew.
Speaker 6 (02:32):
Oh there's more to him, really. Yes.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
First of all, did you know he moisturizes multiple times
a day.
Speaker 8 (02:39):
I don't know about multiple times a day, but I
wear a moisturizing he I was.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
Talking about how I have this female friend of mine
who said you have to start moisturizing, and I was like,
it's something I hadn't even considered. So she so like,
I went and got I got what she said, and
then I'm like putting this stuff on my face, and
I'm just full of moisture.
Speaker 5 (02:58):
Drew says, he moisturreedries every day.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
Okay, no problem, but then he sets up that blew
my mind more than this, more than moisturize. He says
that every single day when he gets up, every day,
he puts on suntan lotion, sunscreen.
Speaker 7 (03:14):
Right now, bronzer would you like to.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
See I don't think it's Bronzer, but he puts on
He puts on sunscreen every.
Speaker 6 (03:22):
Time he walks out of the house, even winter.
Speaker 9 (03:25):
Yeh.
Speaker 7 (03:25):
I mean, I'm not perfect.
Speaker 8 (03:26):
There are days arem a hurry, I forget, but I'd
say about five days a week I usually leave the
house with the sunscreen on.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
You know, the sun still does come out in the winter.
Speaker 5 (03:34):
No, I understand, But Shannon, do you do this?
Speaker 9 (03:37):
Not?
Speaker 4 (03:39):
No? I mean I don't know anyone. I mean, I'm
not criticizing it. I just don't know anyone that does that.
And you're the first person I've ever heard say that
you put on sunscreen, like even when you're coming here
to do a radio.
Speaker 8 (03:53):
I've had several fai this listeners send me their brands.
I've had a lot of people. You have not had
multiple people see I can read off them.
Speaker 5 (04:00):
No, No, I mean it's fine.
Speaker 7 (04:01):
I believe Doms. He wears a perfect world s PF.
Speaker 5 (04:05):
There's not a guy named Dog. There's no Dom that
wears sunscreen.
Speaker 7 (04:09):
Every day, white tea in it. Mine doesn't have white tea.
Might change brands.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
Because of are you a banana boat guy? Or what
brand are we going with? This is an endorsement opportunity.
Speaker 8 (04:20):
Actually, I will say I am still searching for my
home brand. Every time I get anew one, I'm patted up.
I think today is a super goop? Is the brand
that's Lisa?
Speaker 6 (04:29):
Not Lisa.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
What's what's their name that does Goop? No, she's like
Gwyneth Paltrow. That's her thing.
Speaker 6 (04:36):
Okay, see, I know what you know your goop.
Speaker 8 (04:40):
You're well versed by opening to new brands. If anyone
like Dom has a suggestion, got to take care of you. No,
this is my temple. I have to take care of it.
You don't have to take care of so hair.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
I thought I was shot and doing a big step
by moisturizing, and this dude is out here doing sunscreen
every day.
Speaker 6 (04:59):
So that was the first thing.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
Second thing, Shannon, uh, you know he had me recut
the Local Taco commercial. Oh yeah, I didn't use the
word best correctly or at all. Yeah, So Shannon has
now recut the ad. Have you already played this, Shannon.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
Yeah, but we're going to play it again.
Speaker 6 (05:19):
Don't worry, right, don't worry.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
He is already I haven't heard this, So he has
already cut this ad with best in.
Speaker 6 (05:25):
It three different.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Yesterday. Here's take one.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
Hey, it's Matt Jones for the Local Taco. It's not
your average taco. Local taco used locally sourced produce, certified
Angus beef and has voted Lexington's Best Taco.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
There you go, So there's one.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
There's one, okay, local talk option. Oh it's not your
average taco. Local taco used locally sourced produce, certified Angus
beef and has voted Lexington's Best. That's a hardcore one.
Now I know you've left the Duffin Schmirtz one from
one is by far the best one.
Speaker 6 (05:59):
This one probably the.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
One that's gonna get Jones for the Local Taco. It's
not your average taco. Local Taco used locally sourced produce,
certified Angus beef and has voted Lexington's Best.
Speaker 6 (06:14):
You're not.
Speaker 4 (06:16):
You're not running that ship.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Well, hey, I think we should send it to Local Taco.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
Let them make the decision.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
Is their spot, all right, Local Taco, you want it
one more, one more time, come on, come on.
Speaker 4 (06:29):
Certified Angus Beef and is voted Lexington's Best three. That's
just not nice, all right. So if you hear that commercial,
I think Local Tacos getting their money's worth on the endorsement.
Speaker 6 (06:43):
At least that's what you want this your commercial to
stand out. They run that last one, people are going
to remember.
Speaker 4 (06:48):
I think Local Tacos well, uh, if it is a
good taco, all right. So so those are the two leadoffs. Second,
University of a little the photograph. I had a lot
of fun with that yesterday, But little did I know
that my favorite photograph that maybe has taken been taken
(07:08):
in the history of the time outside of Ryan creeping
up behind Joe Biden, which which objectively is the best
photograph that has ever been taken.
Speaker 5 (07:18):
Besides that one, the I think it was the Louisville
team photo.
Speaker 4 (07:22):
Well, major drama ensued yesterday after so the guy who.
Speaker 5 (07:26):
Took it, I guess his name is Matt mcgavick. Mcgavick,
I'm not sure. I don't know. I don't know. I
don't know him. Do you know him?
Speaker 4 (07:35):
He has now blocked me on social media, blocked Drew,
blocked everyone associated with KSR except Billy, which which now
hurts Billy's feelings. Like Billy's feelings are hurt because he
blocked me, Ryan, Shannon, and Mario and Drew, but he
didn't drop Billy. And I think Billy's feelings are really
hurt that he didn't get blocked, but he blocked all
(07:56):
of us, and uh, because he because he had put
that picture. Now, when I first saw it, I didn't
even know it was from him, like it was from him. Later,
I when I good when I searched it, then his
came up, so I retweeted it. But that photo got
sent to me by some random person. So apparently here's
the story, kay. Apparently they were lining up for the
team photo and he took that photo before the team photo,
(08:21):
and then he sent it out and said, here are
your cardinals, which made everyone think it was the team photo,
but it actually wasn't yet the team photo. So I
put that out. Of course all of us laugh, we
do the segment on the show. It's all in good fun.
Then Louisville fans start coming at him, sort of saying
he made the team look bad.
Speaker 5 (08:41):
That'd be fair to that kid. I'm sure he didn't
do that on purpose.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
It's a hilarious photo, and I don't understand why people
don't just laugh, right, But he's now mad. He then
deletes the photo and blocks me and says we're rude.
Oh I did was retweet his photo and say Louisville
might want to retake this, okay. Then Louisville releases an
altered version of the photo as the official photo. Now,
(09:09):
and people said, Matt, shut up, this was the real photo. Now,
I'm gonna argue the photo the kid took is more
real than the photoshop photo because if you look at
their photoshop photo, two things happened. First of all, they
put a different jersey on that one kid. Yep, that
is photoshop. There's no scenario where they went and told
(09:33):
that kid to put the other jersey on.
Speaker 5 (09:35):
Secondly, they changed his number.
Speaker 4 (09:38):
Yeah, they changed his number from one to fifty five.
That was altered, okay, so clear. I actually would argue
the one kid's was more real.
Speaker 5 (09:49):
Than now.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
AI Louisville. That's out there with the smiles. But I've
never seen something so minor become so huge. Last night,
all right, Mario put on TikTok that video on our KSR,
the show TikTok. It has four hundred and fifty thousand
views of us talking about it, three hundred and fifty
(10:14):
thousand more than anything we've put out. Wow, and it's
because everyone's sharing, going look at this photo and look
at these comments.
Speaker 5 (10:21):
I thought it was funny. I still think it's funny.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
Apparently on the radio shows in Louisville yesterday that was
the topic. Is everybody first of all ripping me. Let
me be clear, Shannon, I didn't take the photo.
Speaker 6 (10:35):
No, I didn't.
Speaker 4 (10:36):
All I did was retweet it and say Louisville should
do this again. And then we of course laughed at it.
But we were their top topic yesterday. Apparently on the shows.
It's unbelievable to me photo gained. But the thing is,
this is a perfect example something I've talked about on
this show a lot.
Speaker 5 (10:52):
What are the two most important impressions you make in life?
Speaker 6 (10:55):
First and last?
Speaker 4 (10:55):
Your first and last, your first day of it, your
first day of work and your last.
Speaker 6 (11:00):
Day of work.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
I was thinking about this about people that have worked
with me or for me. I remember their first day,
I remember their last day. This was the first impression
for a lot of people of the Louisville basketball team.
Was that blurry or you know, was that not blurry?
But the photo with their eyes closed? And that's gonna
be how most people remember it, if we're honest.
Speaker 6 (11:20):
I believe that's how the story unfolded. I want I
have my own version. What's your verse? After they heard
your rent on the radio, they quickly sent a group
of text out, get your jerseys back on. We have
to take another picture today.
Speaker 8 (11:32):
Oh so that's what you think, Yeah, retake data.
Speaker 6 (11:36):
You think they retook the whole thing. Well, that's what
I want to believe. I want to believe they had
to say, okay, we have to take a new picture
in an hour.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
So a UK, what they do is at UK they
take the official picture before they let the media take
the picture. That way, the official picture is out there
before the media comes and gets theirs. Louisville screwed it
up because Louiville let these other guys take it with
their iPhones before they could get it out.
Speaker 8 (12:03):
That's just that's just poor organization and it's not a
huge deal. But we saw how wrinkled those jerseys were. Yeah,
they showed up wearing clothes that looked like they had
been in a suitcase.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
So that's in Ryan's point of view, like you're saying, see,
I thought they photo shopped the wrinkles out.
Speaker 7 (12:21):
No, I think they did.
Speaker 8 (12:22):
I'm just saying, Okay, sure you you had to glow up,
you use some apps and make it look good, but
you still showed up to photo day looking like.
Speaker 4 (12:29):
They put their version of Dom's sunscreen on the thing. Yes,
so that we didn't have the white tea to get
the wrinkles out. I just want to be I wish
I was in the room where they were like, Okay,
we have to fix this.
Speaker 6 (12:43):
We have to fix it right now.
Speaker 4 (12:45):
We have to fix Can we put you know, can
we put ahead of uh of Russ Smith in the
back row or something to sort of make it work.
Speaker 8 (12:55):
Did they use one of those filters that makes you smile,
because everyone's smiles, everyone's except.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
What isn't the one guy?
Speaker 4 (13:02):
The one guy has that there's one dude that they
forgot the photo shop the guy sitting right next to Kelsey.
The guy sitting right next to Kelsey. The official picture
still looks like he doesn't want.
Speaker 6 (13:12):
To be there.
Speaker 7 (13:12):
He's likely sitting next to Kelsey.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
They must never have a picture of that kid smiling
because they're like, we're not using him, so anyway.
Speaker 6 (13:20):
Made for great show content last two days.
Speaker 4 (13:21):
To Matt mcgavick or mcgavick, whatever it is, this was
not about you.
Speaker 5 (13:26):
It was not personal.
Speaker 4 (13:28):
This is what the rivalry is for people that are young,
that are just getting into the media. Y'all don't know
what it was like ten years ago in the trenches, right,
y'all don't know what it was like in Louisville, Me
and Drew versus Captain Sun Tan, right, and those guys
like that's that was a war. If this is getting
(13:48):
you this worked up, this whole rivalry thing might not
be for you.
Speaker 6 (13:51):
Man.
Speaker 4 (13:52):
The sheriff and son Tan versus Matt and Drew, Now
that was a rivalry. You can't get all upset about.
Speaker 6 (13:59):
Wrinkled.
Speaker 7 (14:00):
I'm hurt that I'm blocked first, uh I heard of it,
be blocked.
Speaker 8 (14:04):
I love the getting blocked by someone you don't follow, interact.
Speaker 7 (14:07):
With or no, but they like block you. They block you.
Speaker 5 (14:10):
Because he said you were adding too much stress.
Speaker 6 (14:12):
To his life.
Speaker 5 (14:13):
I'm sorry, Matt So eight five nine two eight oh
twenty two eighty seven.
Speaker 6 (14:17):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (14:17):
The text machine is seven seven two seven seven four
five two five four.
Speaker 5 (14:21):
We will take a break, be right back talk from
UK this CHASO.
Speaker 4 (14:27):
Welcome back Techy Sports Radio eight five nine two eight
oh twenty two eighty seven. Text machine seven seven two
seven four five two five four. We got a lot
of uh moisturizer users on here.
Speaker 8 (14:38):
I got a lot of recommendations. I have to look
through all these, a lot of brands. I've never heard
of a.
Speaker 4 (14:43):
Lot of people telling me. More people than I would
have thought, say they use sps. What person writes my
dermatologist said to wear sunscreen every day. I have a
prescription one. I didn't even know they had prescription sunscreens.
Speaker 7 (14:55):
Yeah, that's that's that's next level. I'm trying to get
to that point.
Speaker 6 (14:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (14:58):
What person writes tell childre calldera plus lab is the
best moisturizer slash.
Speaker 6 (15:07):
Who you know? I like this question.
Speaker 4 (15:09):
Why were you all talking about moisturizer on a football
game picking podcast?
Speaker 6 (15:14):
No reason?
Speaker 7 (15:15):
Tell me you don't listen to Fade this.
Speaker 6 (15:17):
It was.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
It was leading into the organ Purdue pick for on
Friday night.
Speaker 6 (15:21):
Well it makes perfect sense now, Yes, it's got a.
Speaker 7 (15:23):
Good review on Fade This this morning.
Speaker 8 (15:25):
Uh, friend Daniel said, Fade this is like taking a
religion one on one class with three professors who are
aware they don't know a ton about religion.
Speaker 4 (15:31):
Yeah, that's true.
Speaker 5 (15:33):
Well I was talking about it.
Speaker 4 (15:34):
I went to eat. I won't spoil it, but I
went to eat at Sahara and I saw an Amish
woman on a date with a non Amish person and
I just.
Speaker 5 (15:43):
Didn't know, Like, I didn't know that was a thing.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
And then we learned that they let Amish teenagers have
one week where they just go to the city and
get to party.
Speaker 6 (15:52):
Did you know this? No?
Speaker 5 (15:53):
I didn't either.
Speaker 7 (15:54):
Billy explained it.
Speaker 4 (15:55):
Yeah, well Billy, Billy knew a lot about it. You
could should listen to it on face. I had no
idea that was a thing.
Speaker 6 (16:00):
All right.
Speaker 4 (16:03):
UK plays Florida on Saturday. We've kind of because of
Big Blue Man, and it's no things not talked about
a lot, huge game. I mean, it is hard to
figure out how Kentucky finishes the season positively and doesn't
win this one.
Speaker 5 (16:20):
We opened as a two and a half point underdog.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
We're now the favorite, which means most of the money
has come on Kentucky, so a lot of people are
believing in us. I have no idea how to feel.
I really don't. I have no idea what's gonna happen.
I mean, they're playing a backup quarterback, so who knows
backup running back? But then they played Tennessee really well
(16:44):
and Knoxville maybe even should have won. We're ahead with
just a couple of minutes to go. What do you
think is gonna happen?
Speaker 6 (16:51):
I'm in the boat where even though it's a huge
game for Kentucky, it's a bigger game for Florida. So
I think it's gonna be a battle. I mean, I
think it's gonna be a tough, art fought game. But
it won't surprise me if you if Kentucky go over
there and play as well. They've played well down there
the last couple of years. They usually play well after
they throw in a stinker. I mean, after they stuck
it up against South Carolina. They came out and played
Georgia the next week, pretty well. I expect Kentucky to
(17:12):
come out and really have a lot of fight and
play really really well.
Speaker 8 (17:16):
Yes, okay, all right, what about you? I already bet
the money line. I'm feeling pretty confident for three reasons. One,
they're not at home. I really think there's something to
being on the road.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
Why do you think this team is not good at home? Like,
we give them the atmosphere, we give them everything they ask.
Speaker 7 (17:33):
Well, it's two things.
Speaker 8 (17:34):
I've always thought they're good on the road because there's
something about soups just get them fired up on the road.
That was even before this two and ten whatever it is.
But now you're throwing in that they're so bad at home.
I just really think stoops can't find the answer. So
nobody knows the answer. But there's something going on with
this team playing in front of their home fans. ELI
Hawks this week wondered if maybe we're just too loose
and free and comfortable because we have.
Speaker 4 (17:53):
Maybe people shouldn't go, Maybe we just all get real
quiet or the home team.
Speaker 5 (17:58):
Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 8 (17:59):
I mean, you're right, so check that playing on the road,
they almost always respond well. Every time we're ready to
throw Kentucky football, They say this team, isn't it. The
very next week they go and look good and we
start wondering, you know, what the heck's up with them?
So I expect them to play well. And then they've
really had Florida's number. I mean, Napier hasn't been He
could go zero and three against Kentucky. They just a
(18:21):
lot of these same players already have a winning Gainesville.
So you add those three up, and even Lagway, he
was a five star quarterback. But I mean it's a
getting his well second start. I think he started against Stanford,
but a new quarterback against Kentucky's defense, I oddly feel
pretty confident.
Speaker 5 (18:35):
Yeah, I just I have no idea.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
Literally, like when we make the pick tomorrow, I don't
even know what I'm gonna say.
Speaker 5 (18:42):
I have no idea. I could see that game going anyway.
Speaker 4 (18:45):
I could see everything from US winning by fourteen to
them winning by fourteen. I just have no idea what
to expect. But I think it's huge. I mean, I think,
you know, there's a world where the wheels fall off
if you don't if you don't win this game, and
it makes me, it makes me nervous, you know.
Speaker 5 (19:03):
I want us to make a bowl.
Speaker 4 (19:05):
I think if you lose this game, I mean, if
you lose this game, to make a bowl, you're gonna
have to sweep Auburn. I mean, we're gonna beat Murray.
Apparently Murray is just the worst team in football. But
and then you got Louisville, right, and you got you'll
have to win all those games just even make a bowl.
By the way, there's an there's a proposal in front
of the NCAA about bowls.
Speaker 6 (19:24):
I want to ask you about real quick. Okay, what
do you think about this.
Speaker 4 (19:26):
There's a big worry that with the playoff, the other
bowls are gonna be like extra meaningless, like because with
so many teams making the playoff, there's gonna be a
sense that if you didn't make the playoff, you screwed up,
especially for those teams that are like thirteen to twenty five.
So they're having they're having serious talks about a proposal
(19:50):
that I've decided I like, which is at the end
of the thing, when they assign the bowls, the bowl
game will actually be played.
Speaker 5 (19:59):
As Week one of the regular season of the next year. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (20:05):
Interesting.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
So if you made a bowl like last year, Kentucky
played Clemson in the Belt Bowl, it would instead be
your first game of the year.
Speaker 5 (20:15):
Is Kentucky Clempson in Charlotte at the Belt Bowl.
Speaker 4 (20:18):
The bowl games like the idea because the bowl games
say this will make people care. The theory is Kentucky
and Clemson will get a bigger crowd in week one
than they would get in a bowl game because both
teams would be coming into a new season and excited.
I actually think it's a brilliant idea. And then the
idea would be the two teams that played for the
(20:38):
national championship would repeat against each other to start the season.
The two teams that lost in the semifinals would play
each other to start the season, and then it.
Speaker 6 (20:47):
Would go like that. I love it. I mean it.
Guess it something all summer to look forward to and
talk about. If it's a huge game against Clemson to
start the season.
Speaker 4 (20:54):
And everybody would start the season all the good teams
on a neutral field, so everybody could have the last
week of August as a travel game since a lot
of schools are not even in session yet, so you
didn't have to worry about not having students on campus.
Speaker 3 (21:09):
So then all the seniors that played hard to get
to that bowl game.
Speaker 4 (21:12):
They don't go then. But I mean their thought is
it's those seniors that are not playing in the bowl
game anyway, most of them, right, because they're going to
the draft or they're doing whatever to get enter in
the portal. So the idea is just Kentucky Clempson is
gonna matter more to start the season than to end
the season in the new world.
Speaker 6 (21:32):
Do you like it?
Speaker 8 (21:34):
It's all right if they did it, I wouldn't be
against it. I'd still rather have the team I'm watching
that year that went nine and whatever won ten games.
I'd want them to see it through and them get
to play Clemson rather than just have a whole new game.
Speaker 4 (21:45):
Will you feel that way if ten of our guys
are fifteen of our guys opt out of the game
this year.
Speaker 8 (21:50):
Well, I was gonna say, they're gonna have to put
some incentives in this game. I mean, it was cool
seeing the guys get their backpacks in their PlayStation for
showing up to Music City Bowl. But I figure you
have to put some some prize money in these to get.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
But there's also the transfer portal issue, right, Like these
guys enter the transfer portal, and the portal comes before
the bowl game for some of them, right, So I'm
a fan of the idea. I think if we had
all summer to look forward to Kentucky and Clemson in
the Belt Bowl, or even remember when Kentucky played Iowan
in to the Music City Ball and none of us
(22:21):
care if we were starting the season in Nashville the
next year against Iowa, wouldn't that be more exciting and
be huge?
Speaker 6 (22:28):
I think all the all the fan base would really
like it. I think it all goes down to the
teams and the players, and like Channon said, these guys
that played for four years their last bowl game, maybe
it would be a big bowl game, and maybe against
Clemson and they're off of them.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
But the good thing for Kentucky is at least towns
as our schedule is now, the last game is Louisville,
which is a pretty big game. It's not like we're
ending with just a dudge. You're ending with this huge
game too.
Speaker 7 (22:49):
Make a Louisville like a championship for the team.
Speaker 5 (22:51):
So I like it. I don't know if it'll happen,
but I think it's a good idea.
Speaker 4 (22:55):
We'll take your calls right after this A five nine
two eight twenty two eighty seven KSR.
Speaker 3 (22:59):
Tjsmon personal injury attorney called TJ.
Speaker 5 (23:02):
He'll make them pay.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio present it by Stockton Mortgage.
Speaker 3 (23:07):
Here's Matt Jones.
Speaker 4 (23:08):
Water back Tucky Sports Radio eight five nine two twenty
two eighty seven. I'm gonna go to the phone, but
I have this to read. One person writes, Matt. I'm
enjoying Shannon putting up the music after the shows now
because we can't hear the music on the podcast, I
actually cue up the music and listen to it when
you come in.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
That's cool, that's nice.
Speaker 4 (23:26):
Yeah here with Another person says Matt. Barstool did something yesterday.
I want to hear you all do. What are your
favorite songs of all time to have a person's name
in the title. Oh gosh, okay, favorite songs of all
time to have a person's name in the title. Now,
I'm cheating a little bit because I'm looking at their list,
(23:47):
so I'm gonna read you on their list.
Speaker 5 (23:49):
Some that's sweet. That stand out to me?
Speaker 4 (23:52):
Sweet Caroline? Yes, okay, Amy, Amy, what you want to do?
Speaker 6 (24:00):
Who? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (24:03):
Why are you looking at me like that. You don't
know that song? That was the Doobie Brothers.
Speaker 6 (24:06):
Who is that? No?
Speaker 4 (24:08):
Yeah, yeah, something like that. And then I got one
Brandy You're a fine girl.
Speaker 6 (24:14):
Yeah, that's a good one.
Speaker 5 (24:15):
Who sings that? Shannon?
Speaker 3 (24:17):
Oh gosh, I can't think of the name off the
top of my head.
Speaker 5 (24:20):
Do you have one?
Speaker 6 (24:22):
One of my favorite songs that probably nobody knows is
Jackie Brown by John Cougar Mellencamp. I love it and
he played it at the concert in Louisville and went
with Shannon and Sarah. That's my my favorite.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
But then that you're skipping like his most famous one though, right?
A little diddy about Jack and Diane.
Speaker 6 (24:36):
Yeah there's another great one, okay, Drew.
Speaker 8 (24:41):
Uh one you all probably haven't heard of. Zach Bryant
has a song called Jake's Piano. I like that one
a lot. Jay Z and Beyonce have three Bonnie and Clyde,
which is.
Speaker 5 (24:50):
A great one. I know that one.
Speaker 4 (24:51):
Yeah, Well, you all are picking obscure ones like b
sides on John Mellencam.
Speaker 5 (24:57):
Looking my favorite, Mario, what do you have, Mario? Give
me one with the name on.
Speaker 6 (25:00):
It from Fleetwood Macrehanna, I like that song.
Speaker 4 (25:04):
Yeah, Billy Jean, Okay, that's a great one. Billy Jean,
all right, Shada, what about you?
Speaker 3 (25:11):
Hey, Jude Beatles, Hey.
Speaker 6 (25:13):
J Yeah, none the good one.
Speaker 3 (25:14):
There you go, Larry Jane's Last Dance.
Speaker 4 (25:17):
Tom, that's a really good one too, all right, But anyway,
I just those were some of the ones they had.
Speaker 5 (25:23):
Here were their top ten. Number one was Jack and Diane.
Speaker 4 (25:27):
Number two Stan Eminem, Yes, run around, Sue.
Speaker 6 (25:32):
Good one who picked that? Stacy's mom. I like that
song a lot, Layla y, Johnny b Good Yeah.
Speaker 5 (25:42):
Come on, Eileen.
Speaker 4 (25:44):
Then they had Hay, Jude, Brandy, and then Benny and
the Jets.
Speaker 6 (25:49):
So just you know, some choice looking.
Speaker 3 (25:53):
By the way, looking Glass.
Speaker 6 (25:55):
Looking Glass wasn't Stacy's mom? Also Jesse's girl, and her
number was eight six seven. You make that joke every
single time.
Speaker 4 (26:02):
It's yet to hit once, and you make it every
single time.
Speaker 6 (26:07):
We do it.
Speaker 4 (26:07):
Who's up now, Chris, Chris, go.
Speaker 5 (26:09):
Ahead, Chris, No one's laughed ever, Chris, go ahead.
Speaker 10 (26:13):
Hey there, Chris and Jacksonville just calling about going to
the game this weekend.
Speaker 4 (26:18):
Yes.
Speaker 10 (26:19):
My story to it though, is that my wife and
I will be going with my son's girlfriends and her
parents that their there Gator season ticket holders, so that
would be interesting.
Speaker 5 (26:34):
So have you met your son's girlfriend's parents.
Speaker 10 (26:38):
No, and he thinks that she's the one. So you
got to be careful with them.
Speaker 5 (26:42):
Because they might be part of your family forever.
Speaker 6 (26:44):
Yeah, exactly. Wait, hang on, does your.
Speaker 4 (26:47):
Son know that you're coming on the radio saying that
he thinks she's the one?
Speaker 10 (26:53):
Oh, he won't care?
Speaker 6 (26:54):
Okay, well, they must be real.
Speaker 10 (26:56):
He does, He does not know, but he won't care.
He'll be with it.
Speaker 6 (27:00):
Okay.
Speaker 10 (27:01):
So the story though, is this came up. He's not
going to be able to go, he's out of town.
But this came up a couple of weeks ago where
at lunch he was going to be going. He can't go,
and I just said, well I could go. Within minutes,
she texted her dad. Her dad texts me, Hey, the
tickets are yours? Whatever?
Speaker 5 (27:19):
So you're in Florida season tickets.
Speaker 4 (27:23):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (27:23):
Yeah, you wear YOUK gear the assumption, that's your question.
Speaker 6 (27:27):
You wear UK gear.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
You don't have to be obnoxious about it, but you
you can't even if you're in Florida season tickets.
Speaker 6 (27:33):
You wear you ca gear.
Speaker 10 (27:35):
Yeah, that's that's not the question. But it sent my
wife down this chain of Oh, I need to get
a new Kentucky shirt because she's from an Auburn family.
So she starts looking up Kentucky shirts. She comes across
I still hate Laightner shirt shows that to me and
my son. We both kind of laugh. The girlfriend, Okay,
(27:57):
but where are we going with this?
Speaker 5 (27:58):
What's what's your question?
Speaker 6 (28:00):
Let me let me there's no question.
Speaker 10 (28:02):
I'm just telling the story. She has this crazy look
on her face of what is that about? Everybody in
Big Blue Nation would have been so proud of my son,
who's twenty two, not even alive. During that game, he
told the story of that game with Lightner and that
shot and him stepping on Timberlake and all that stuff.
Speaker 5 (28:25):
Well, you have to know if you don't know that story, Yeah.
Speaker 10 (28:29):
I kick I kicked back and just watched him like
he hit all.
Speaker 6 (28:32):
The points, was right on.
Speaker 5 (28:34):
Yeah, well, I appreciate the call. You have to know
the louder story.
Speaker 4 (28:37):
But shit, Mario, do you know the Lightner story?
Speaker 6 (28:39):
Do you do?
Speaker 4 (28:41):
You know Christian Lightner Duke? What like what happened? He
stepped on somebody?
Speaker 9 (28:47):
All right?
Speaker 4 (28:48):
Well you got you got at least that much. Yes,
every that's I feel like you there's certain Kentucky What
are the Kentucky basketball things you have to know regardless
of age? The John Wall dance, Okay, but that's where
he Yeah, I feel like you have to know the
years we won the national champions Yes, okay. So like
if you're a Kentucky fan, you have to be able
to say forty eight, forty nine, fifty one, fifty eight,
(29:12):
seventy eight, ninety six, ninety eight, twenty twelve.
Speaker 6 (29:15):
Do you need to know Jack Gibbons had forty one?
Speaker 5 (29:17):
I think you need to know Jack Gibbons had forty one.
Speaker 4 (29:19):
I think you need to know two that Anthony Davis
took the fourth most shots.
Speaker 6 (29:25):
How far back you got to go? Do you should
you know?
Speaker 2 (29:27):
Who?
Speaker 6 (29:27):
You should know?
Speaker 10 (29:27):
All?
Speaker 4 (29:28):
Okay, so you should know. I think you should at
least know there was a group called RUPs runs bonus points.
If you know that there's a fiddle and five, all right,
then I think you need to know that Danisel played there.
Speaker 6 (29:42):
Yes, I agree, you.
Speaker 4 (29:44):
Need to know Jack Gibbons. You need to know Kenny
Walker probably some Rex Chapman probably. I think they probably
do know Rex, but I throw Rex. You need to
know Jamal Mashburn. You need to know that the ninety
six team was the greatest team to ever play. You
need to know that the ninety eight team revenged against Duke, right,
(30:08):
you need to know. It's a little bonus points if
you know how good that three team was and that Bogans,
if he hadn't turned his ankle, we win the national championship,
and then you get to the cal Aeron most people
know what else would you add to that?
Speaker 6 (30:21):
Do you know you need to know who Jody Meek
scored fifty three points against the.
Speaker 4 (30:25):
Fifty four first, so I get the number right. It
was fifty four and it was against Tennessee. You should
know that's the all time scoring record.
Speaker 6 (30:32):
I think you should know that that.
Speaker 4 (30:34):
Do you think you need to know the three people
who've ever gotten a triple double?
Speaker 6 (30:37):
All that?
Speaker 7 (30:38):
And that's a little specific.
Speaker 6 (30:39):
Yeah, I don't know if I know all three of them.
We'll take again Isaiah Briscoe.
Speaker 4 (30:42):
That's which is crazy that he's one of them. Want
to ask, can you know the other time Chris Mills?
And who's the other.
Speaker 6 (30:47):
One that's the one I don't know.
Speaker 4 (30:49):
Same year as Isaiah Briscoe Daron dearon Fox.
Speaker 8 (30:53):
Briscoe tweeted about his yesterday, told a little story untild
before about he wanted to come out of the game
and Cal left him in to get a triple double.
Speaker 4 (30:59):
So what else you need to know? You need to
know that the all time leading scorer is thisl Yeah.
What do you need to know about the rough Air
because that's a long era?
Speaker 6 (31:09):
Well, yeah, I like a fact.
Speaker 4 (31:11):
You should know that the U the Kentucky basketball team
was the United States Olympic team one year. They just
took the team and took it to the Olympics and
they won a gold medal. You did You didn't know that,
Mario nineteen forty eight. They took the team and just
took it to the Olympics. They added a couple guys
from whatever, and they were the Olympic team.
Speaker 6 (31:33):
I think that's a good fact. And then all five
guys and then go to play in the NBA were
in it together together.
Speaker 5 (31:40):
Yeah, then that team then became a pro team.
Speaker 6 (31:42):
Yeah, what what else from the rough Air? Well, you
mentioned the Finland five. I think, oh, Cliff Hagen, I mean.
Speaker 4 (31:50):
It'd be nice if you knew Louis Dampier and Cliff
Hagen and maybe Cotton Nash just knew the names. I
think that's a pretty good stary pack though.
Speaker 6 (32:00):
I think it's you went down the list pretty good.
I mean, then you could get up ssecure stuff and you.
Speaker 4 (32:04):
Could get to that if John Wooden hadn't retired, we'd
have won the title in nineteen seventy five right before
the game. Yeah, I think that's you need to know
that we couldn't make a shot against Georgetown in nineteen
eighty four.
Speaker 6 (32:19):
Yes, that's another good one in the second half, huh. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (32:23):
And you also should know that we were like one,
we were like two made free throws from Nazi Muhammad
from being a three time champion, back to back to.
Speaker 6 (32:33):
Back throw Nai oh for six for six.
Speaker 8 (32:36):
You should know that Aaron Harrison has the greatest tournament
run by one person.
Speaker 4 (32:39):
I agree with that because there are gonna be people
coming up here very soon and don't remember the Harrison twins.
Speaker 7 (32:44):
Yeah, three game winners.
Speaker 6 (32:44):
You had that. Yeah that was ten years ago.
Speaker 4 (32:46):
There are gonna be people entering college soon, yes, who
do not remember the Harrison Wow, which is a nut,
which is nuts corbredheim dot com. If you need to
rest and relax and help yourself get some Halloween z's,

Speaker 4 (33:19):

We'll take a break right back to Kentucky Sports Radio.
Welcome back, takey Sports Radio. All right, so a lot
of people saying stuff I thought we were talking about
laterner that clearly included the unforgettables the ninety two team.
Speaker 5 (33:35):
To me is what is one of the most.
Speaker 6 (33:37):
Important things you have to know? Absolutely?
Speaker 5 (33:39):
Four guys from Kentucky. All right. Some other ones being suggested.
Speaker 4 (33:41):
I like this guy here right here, suggested Tayshaun Prince
five threes in a row.
Speaker 6 (33:45):
I think you should know that.
Speaker 5 (33:47):
I think that's a good one to know.
Speaker 7 (33:48):
I think if you're a Kentucky fan.
Speaker 8 (33:49):
You owe it to the next generations to sit them
down and show them that YouTube clips so they know.
Speaker 4 (33:53):
About Puppy set off the bust uh. One person writes,
who are some players Matt that you should know just
because of their connection to the program. Kyle Macy maybe
might be one that I would say that you definitely
pat Riley, because a lot of people don't know that
pat Riley went here. You know, they know him for
(34:14):
the Lakers in the Heat, but they don't necessarily know
he went to school at Kentucky.
Speaker 5 (34:18):
So I think that's a good one.
Speaker 6 (34:19):
Rex.
Speaker 5 (34:20):
Yeah, Rex is an example of that too.
Speaker 4 (34:22):
I think Rex an example of the guy you want
you want to say he went here. I like this question,
in fifty years, what will the new version of Matt
Jones say are the things to remember from the col era?
I would say the twenty twelve title, yes, twenty fifteen
going thirty eight to one, and then John wall and
(34:43):
DeMarcus Cousin.
Speaker 6 (34:44):
I'm Patrick Patterson.
Speaker 4 (34:45):
I think if you're putting a historical perspective on it,
those will be the three things that Pete and then
I think you'll know broadly that he put like fifty
dudes in the NBA, you're gonna know something like that.
I think that's probably can you think of su in
the cal Era that.
Speaker 6 (35:01):
Will be more. Wellrew Harrison's three.
Speaker 4 (35:03):
Well yeah, yeah, yeah no, and then the twenty fourteen
run that's those would be I think you're right, that's
got to be in there too.
Speaker 2 (35:10):
Then we'll look back and go, wait a minute, we
lost to Saint Peter's in Oakland.
Speaker 4 (35:14):
Well, I mean yeah, actually, honestly, Saint Peter's in Oakland
will probably be like number five on that is that
you'll go, wait a minute, that team lost to Saint
Peter's in Oakland.
Speaker 8 (35:24):
I think we need to get ready for years of
Reach Shepherd came off the bench because every time I'm
watching ESPN talk about the NBA, another.
Speaker 7 (35:32):
National person is bragging that's true. What Reed Shepherd's gonna be?
Speaker 4 (35:35):
Yeah, I mean I heard Bill Simmons say if they
did the draft again tomorrow, Reach Shepard be the number
one pick.
Speaker 7 (35:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (35:42):
So yeah, but I mean like the famous losses. I
mean not Kentucky was before my time, but they lost
to Middle Tennessee State in the tournament in like eighty two.
Maybe yes, something like that and then Saint Peter's in Oakland.
Speaker 6 (35:56):
Ryan are going to be right there. So are there
any positives and the last five years that they can
just remember fifty Oscar.
Speaker 8 (36:03):
Remember Oscar getting fifty rebounds and then going into the
crowd to take photos for two hours.
Speaker 4 (36:08):
Yeah. I think if you're trying, honestly, if you're saying,
what are people gonna remember from the next five years,
they're gonna remember us losing to Saint Peter's in Oakland,
and then they're gonna I think Oscar is probably the
one that that you I think beyond that, I mean,
I think Reed Shepherd and Rob Dillingham might be remembered
in the way pat Riley is that they're more remembered
for the fact they did something else, but that.
Speaker 6 (36:30):
They went here.
Speaker 5 (36:32):
And so because pat Riley was like the sixth man
on this team, wasn't he when he was here something.
Speaker 6 (36:36):
Like that, he may have started on the team. I
don't know what about Cali Perry walking his dog, that
whole drama.
Speaker 5 (36:42):
Well, Kentucky fans will remember that. I don't know if
fifty years from now there will be around for.
Speaker 6 (36:49):
Many years.
Speaker 5 (36:49):
Who's up next? Shannon, Rob, Rob Go ahead.
Speaker 9 (36:52):
Rob, Hey, just a couple of comments and a question
I was saying about what you said about the bowl
game for Yeah, I mean we have corporate people trying
to figure out how to make money on a bowl
deciding what's good for football.
Speaker 6 (37:09):
Well, guess what.
Speaker 9 (37:09):
And just.
Speaker 4 (37:11):
So you know, every decision that's made about what's good
for football is made from a money corporate perspective.
Speaker 9 (37:18):
It's not just the No, I understand. That's why we've
got a playoff system, which at least they're at least
they're saying that the at least they're admitting that the
new playoff system has rendered the bowls now completely useless,
that with no consequences, and nobody really cares anymore. But
the thought about the twelve team playoffs, and I know
(37:41):
we have it so no matter. But does anybody really
think that we're going to see the number twelve team
or the number ten team actually string together enough victories
to win a national time?
Speaker 5 (37:53):
But that doesn't make it when there's usually a ball out, But.
Speaker 4 (37:57):
That doesn't not make it good. When you watch the
NCAA tournament, do you really believe the sixteen seed is
gonna win the title?
Speaker 6 (38:04):
No?
Speaker 9 (38:05):
But you're still don't. Well, they might win a.
Speaker 4 (38:08):
Game, but but I mean, seriously, your joke is because
you don't think there should be a playoff. But the
premise that exists in your in your comment is the
same in the NCAA basketball tournament. When the NCAA Tournament starts,
there's twenty teams that have no chance to win it,
but we still enjoy it. And so in this twelve
team playoff, there's gonna be some teams in it that
don't have a chance to win, but it's still gonna
(38:30):
be entertaining.
Speaker 9 (38:32):
Well, I understand that. I'm just looking at it from
a football standpoint, that you don't have injured players every
game in a basketball team, and you're just grinding down
your better teams.
Speaker 4 (38:44):
Well, then you grind them down. I think they'll trade
it off. I appreciate the call for the chance to
win a championship. You know you can't sometimes And I'm
not saying this guy's like this. Sometimes people just like
to complain. To complain, you don't like the playoff because
it renders the bulls meaningless, but you don't like bowls
because they're meaningless.
Speaker 5 (39:02):
So I mean, what did you like?
Speaker 6 (39:04):
Nothing? Was that better?
Speaker 5 (39:07):
When bunch of dudes sit in a room and voted
on who the champion was.
Speaker 6 (39:10):
Was that better?
Speaker 8 (39:11):
I'm pretty fired up for the new format of me
too looking at the projection like you got and this
will change. But Tennessee playing Ohio State in the first round,
you got Boise State in there. I just think there's
gonna be some crazy games.
Speaker 6 (39:22):
So like that's I was gonna say. Let's say Boise
State was gonna play Baylor in a bowl game, I
probably wouldn't watch it. But if it's a playoff game,
I'm watching it.
Speaker 4 (39:29):
Come back against LSU thirty one point comeback. That might
be one that I think, Yeah, that I think people remember.
Speaker 6 (39:36):
I mean there's other, you know moments, like they're riding
the bus into the championship after the ninety six championship,
you know things.
Speaker 5 (39:41):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (39:43):
What about.
Speaker 6 (39:44):
It's one of my favorite memories I've been here.
Speaker 4 (39:46):
But I mean, how many people remember how we celebrated
the fifty eight title.
Speaker 6 (39:49):
No, we I'm talking about the ninety six title, Okay,
But my.
