Welcome to Hour two of Kentucky Sports Radio, present it
by Stockton Mortgage.

Speaker 4 (01:04):
Now here's Matt Jones welcome back.

Speaker 5 (01:06):
I remember two Tucky Sports Radio eighty two eighty seven.
Text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five
two five four Matt, Ryan and Shannon. People writing in
for Ask Anything Wednesday. One person says, Matt, don't you
think the stoop spiral started with the pony up comment?
That was a big one. I don't think it was

(01:27):
the biggest, but it was. It was a big thing
added to it, didn't it was big for me. I'll
be honest with you. I thought that was a pretty
pretty poor remark. That was like three years ago, though,
I mean it's it's been a little while since he
did it. One person writes, Matt, I ask you this
every Ask Anything Wednesday. You've never answered. I'm gonna keep
asking it until you do. Who's smarter, Ryan Lemon or

(01:49):
Donald Trump?

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Pretty close race? Pretty close race.

Speaker 5 (01:59):
Okay, So I I have to like take away the
question of like marketing ability, because I do think Donald
Trump is one of the best marketers of all time,
going back to the eighties. He marketed his name as
a luxury like he markets his name right and has

(02:19):
done an amazing job. And the reason he is president
is he is a very good market marketer.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
He's far more consistent than Ryan, consistently inconsistent.

Speaker 5 (02:31):
So if you include marketing, then I'm I'm saying Trump
because he does that one thing better than anything Ryan.
That's true, Yes, But if you take out marketing and
just did a who knows more.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
Info like an IQ test, Well, I.

Speaker 6 (02:49):
Don't know what IQ test measure.

Speaker 5 (02:51):
I've never taken one, but like if you just did
a facts test, yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 6 (02:58):
I think it would be pretty close. Shannon, who you got?

Speaker 3 (03:01):
Well, I mean if Ran is smarter than our president,
then that means Ryan could be president.

Speaker 6 (03:05):
So oh, I could definitely president, no doubt you. Oh,
come on, I mean.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
Trump smarter than than Ryan. Come on, I mean he's
smarter than me.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
I have not gone bank.

Speaker 6 (03:17):
First of all, I don't, Shane, and I would.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
He's smarter than I am for sure believe that.

Speaker 5 (03:23):
Well, I don't. Again, we're talking about like as a
communicator and as a marketer. But if you're just talking facts, yes,
I wouldn't necessarily say that.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (03:37):
You have way too high view of his intelligence. Do
you ever like listen to him speak?

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (03:43):
But and then they're reading teleprompters.

Speaker 6 (03:45):
No, not him. You get the unfiltered with him.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
Oh he's unfilm He's like Cutler, He's unfiltered.

Speaker 6 (03:51):
That's exactly right, which is why I worry you're gonna
leave me for him.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
So I don't know. I mean, I'm going to say
current events. I'll take Trump because he lives it. Yes, History,
I'll take Ryan.

Speaker 6 (04:08):
That's what I would say.

Speaker 5 (04:09):
Economics Trump, yes, uh, Sports you okay.

Speaker 6 (04:17):
Culture, neither of you would do great.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Yeah, national geography.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
National do you know a lot about him?

Speaker 5 (04:31):
Kind of questioning national geography. He's probably been to more
places than you. Yeah, So I would say him.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Golf game him because he cheats.

Speaker 6 (04:41):
He's better than you, though you're awful.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
I've played twice this year, though I'm coming around.

Speaker 6 (04:45):
Yeah, well, I think it'd be close. I've actually love it.

Speaker 5 (04:50):
We had a debate, not a debate, because he's a
better talk like he'd be better.

Speaker 6 (04:55):
Well, I don't know, I don't know, I don't.

Speaker 4 (04:57):
Know, cannot debate Trump. Trump would slaughter him in a debate.

Speaker 5 (05:02):
But Trump doesn't know anything either.

Speaker 6 (05:04):
Ryan knows less.

Speaker 5 (05:05):
Like he would beat you in a debate because he
would just call you names and you would get under
the table.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Fair point.

Speaker 6 (05:12):
No, I mean that would happen.

Speaker 5 (05:15):
Trump would be very hard to debate because Shane Gillis
does a whole bit about this about when he debated
ram Paul, because ram Paul would get up and go,
you know, was the economy does this in the free
market and brubber blah blah blah, and then Trump.

Speaker 6 (05:28):
Would just go, your hair is terrible.

Speaker 5 (05:32):
Shane Gillis does a whole debate like, what are you
supposed to say to that? When would you come back
when you have like all these serious points, and then
he goes, your hair is terrible.

Speaker 4 (05:39):
Most likable. I mean, that's why a lot of people
like him because he totally agree.

Speaker 6 (05:43):
But that's not smart.

Speaker 5 (05:45):
That's that's like impossible in some ways, it's impossible to
debate if you just go. If I go, Shannon, I
believe that the downfall of the Soviet Union began because
they spent way too much money on their a military,
and you just go, your pooperhead.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
Gotcha burned.

Speaker 6 (06:02):
There's nothing I can do at that point.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
You know, Well, why we're talking about politics? I guess
tonight's the big softball game. Who Republicans versus Democrats like
their softball game. Yeah, who you got? What's over I
don't know if they.

Speaker 6 (06:15):
I mean, I don't know. I don't know who's good.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
It's Draft Kings doesn't have a U overrunner.

Speaker 5 (06:19):
I would love for Draft Kicks to bet on that
minus one thirty five.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
I say it on television playing each other in softball.

Speaker 6 (06:27):
Oh yeah, but one of those things that happens. Okay.

Speaker 5 (06:30):
True A little behind the scenes stories. In twenty sixteen,
when I was considering run for the house and I
went up there and I met with all the Democrats,
I met with this guy whose last name I think
was Jefferson. It's like an African American guy from Louisiana, Okay,
And as he sat down, he was like, listen, got
a question for you.

Speaker 6 (06:48):
This is my only question for you. Are you good
at baseball?

Speaker 5 (06:54):
Because back then it was a baseball game, it was okay,
is it not a baseball game now?

Speaker 6 (06:58):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
I thought it was softball.

Speaker 5 (07:00):
Well, back then I think it was a baseball He goes,
are you good at baseball? And I was like, eh,
because if you're good at baseball, I want you to run.
We need a couple of ringers. So if you're not
good don't don't run, And that was the conversation because
he was the captain of the baseball team and Democrats, Well.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
You're a big, tall guy.

Speaker 6 (07:16):
He thought you were first was the sports radio guys.

Speaker 5 (07:18):
Yeah, it's like, well, of course you're good at baseball,
but I never really played baseball.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
Did you tell a pitcher one time and gave up
a home run to Ryan Lemon?

Speaker 5 (07:25):
That's true, wool Adam, go ahead, Adham and.

Speaker 7 (07:31):
Matt, you were talking about rule changes coming to college basketball,
and I wanted to give you the scenario and how
would you fix it. So Kentucky basketball, they have a
a they're in transition. They have a layup that is
a clear goaltending, but the officials missed the call. The
opponent gets the ball, comes down and hits up three.

(07:52):
They go back to the monitor at the next break,
they say it was a goaltend. So they give Kentucky
two points, but the result of the whole transaction was
minus one for Kentucky. How do you fix that?

Speaker 5 (08:04):
I do think you can. I think so I'm going
to talk about the new rules in a little bit.
Let me save that part of it, because the new
rules I do think are important but I don't know
how you fix it the goaltend allowing them to go
back and fin it and fix goaltending way after it happens.

Speaker 6 (08:17):
I think it's a mistake.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
It is a mistake.

Speaker 6 (08:19):
I g it's a mistake.

Speaker 5 (08:21):
I think you uh, I just it leads to terrible results.
And when they would call goaltending when it wasn't and
then like, had you not called it, we'd have had
a layup, but instead it's a jump ball.

Speaker 6 (08:35):
I hate it. I hate that stuff. They decide.

Speaker 5 (08:38):
The decision to go back on goaltending was a mistake
in my opinion, because of what the callers called. It's
the flow of the game. You screw it up. My
mom picks you by the way and says, when it
comes to decency and being a good person.

Speaker 6 (08:51):
Ryan is the best.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
That Trump's Trump.

Speaker 6 (08:54):
That doesn't necessarily mean Shannon, she thinks he would win. Yeah,
that doesn't have anything decent And.

Speaker 5 (09:02):
I got this person, Oh sorry, she thought you would
be better at the that too. Really, Look, my mom
is your biggest fight. We're tight, No, No, I mean
my mom gets very mad when I.

Speaker 6 (09:14):
Give you more time.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
It's on fun, mama, I.

Speaker 6 (09:17):
Mean mostly, but some of it is awesome.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
It's a daily occurrence.

Speaker 6 (09:22):
Yes, Mark Anthony, go ahead, and Mark.

Speaker 8 (09:23):
Anthy hey, Matt Ryan Shannon, Hey, you know, man, there's
a difference between disappointment and heartbreak, and had events gone
to most anywhere else, had been a disappointment, but he
has broke my heart by going a little I just
it's it's hard to get over. And my question is
do you have any idea why it is that Ohio

(09:46):
was taken from him as his recruiting terricory.

Speaker 6 (09:49):
Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 5 (09:50):
First of all, I mean, the only person that has
said that that I have heard, as I appreciate the call,
is your boy, Michael Bennett is the only person I've
heard say.

Speaker 4 (09:59):
That he has sought to him. So I don't know if.

Speaker 5 (10:03):
That's Michael Bennett's also said some things that ended up. Yeah,
he also said he was dead and then he was
back to life, which I'm not mocking, but that does
give you a little hurt to your credibility a little bit.

Speaker 6 (10:18):
But yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 5 (10:21):
I don't know if they did that, that's a huge
surprise because that would be the thing he was the
strongest at, right, But again, I think we're guessing at
this point, we have to wait to see what Mark
and Vince saying. They might say two completely different things, right.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
If they're gonna, yeah, will they be honest about something
like that, you know, going back to curtain and getting
into the weeds about that kind of thing.

Speaker 6 (10:40):
Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
Come students to see if he wants to come on
the show.

Speaker 6 (10:47):
Yeah, I mean, but like, well, first of all, he
needs to do that.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Yeah, but he won't do it till there's an official
announcement made.

Speaker 6 (10:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (10:54):
I don't think he can. I mean, like he hasn't
resigned yet.

Speaker 6 (10:57):
So what's Vince? What's smart gonna say right now? Technical?

Speaker 2 (11:00):
He still works, it still works for UK, should be
out recruiting today.

Speaker 5 (11:04):
Yeah, I don't know. I have a feeling. I have
a feeling it will kill a little nasty. I mean,
neither of those two are known to not throw jabs.

Speaker 6 (11:14):
Yeah, we'll see.

Speaker 5 (11:18):
Yeah, But so far, no one's made a public statement
except except Vince replying to Nick Rausch.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
Is this just a sign of respect? They don't want
to come out of a statement against the.

Speaker 6 (11:31):
This is what I keep saying.

Speaker 5 (11:33):
This is what I used to say to col not
talking is not an option because y'all are gonna have
to do press conferences like you're gonna get asked about
this stuff. The question is just when do you want
to answer it? You want to answer it now or
do you want to answer it a month from now
and then in that.

Speaker 6 (11:49):
Month have people filling the void with their opinions.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
So we'll get a statement Friday at twelve o five
after our show on Friday.

Speaker 5 (11:55):
I mean, I didn't realize Mark Stoops did a radio
interview yesterday morning.

Speaker 6 (11:59):
Oh he did, and a the host didn't ask him
about this?

Speaker 4 (12:03):
What did they talking about?

Speaker 5 (12:05):
I mean, how do you bring Mark Stoops on the
morning after it was serious on SEC radio? How do
you bring Mark Stoops on the day after Vince leaves
and not ask.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
You think they told the guy you can't ask Stoops
about Well.

Speaker 5 (12:19):
Then you say I'm not bringing you on. I've done that.
I've done that multiple times with Cal and Stoops. I
asked them to come on. They said I can't talk
about this right now, and I said, well then I
can't have you on.

Speaker 6 (12:33):
You can't bring somebody on and not ask them.

Speaker 5 (12:35):
That question, especially not yesterday, right. So I mean, but anyway,
I guess one of the things Mark said is I
don't want to make any headlines. I mean, once you
start saying that, Mark, what do you you don't want
to make any.

Speaker 6 (12:48):
You're the coach at Kentucky. You don't have a choice
but to make headlines.

Speaker 5 (12:53):
The Herald Leader right now is only food, restaurant stories
and UK sports.

Speaker 6 (12:58):
That's it.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
He Coach Dukes has said several times he doesn't want
to make headlines. He doesn't want to say something.

Speaker 5 (13:04):
Are we gonna make headlines? And when you go Stoops's
best quality, it's just his sort of swash buckler bring.

Speaker 6 (13:11):
It here we go guy?

Speaker 9 (13:13):
Right.

Speaker 5 (13:13):
Yeah, if you take that away and try to be
a robot, you take away what is the person's That's
what I hate when politicians do that. They have these
big personalities and then they get on there and they
go back to Trump. That's what he's good at. He's
always himself. Bernie's good at that, He's always himself.

Speaker 6 (13:34):
Be yourself.

Speaker 5 (13:35):
Stoops needs to be himself and the idea of I
don't want to make headlines is a terrible way to be,
isn't it.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
Yeah, when he comes on here, he's usually himself. More
so than that he's standing behind a podium in a
news conference situation.

Speaker 5 (13:47):
Yeah, but he wasn't as much the last time he
was here. He wasn't because he's like, I don't want.

Speaker 6 (13:51):
To make a headline. Yeah, make a headline. That's what
you're here for.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
You're a leader. We kind of need that right now.

Speaker 6 (13:57):
Terry, go ahead, Terry.

Speaker 9 (14:00):
The Cadus be gone by July first, Just bear with it,
be gone by July first. Hey, hey, world series bet,
World series. Bet you can make uh gettle of money.
Coastal Carolina kind of my upset special there. And as
far as Mint, my parents always taught me, if you
can't say anything good about somebody, don't say anything, but
don't say nhing at all. He's the greatest popcorn eater

(14:23):
I've ever seen.

Speaker 5 (14:25):
It's true. And Fredo's he was great. Appreciate the call.
I'm not getting too excited. Well, I'll save this because
I want to get a little bit excited. Tell me
about stocktable, doctor mortgage.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
You know, it's that time of you where people maybe
the summer vacation hits like a man I wish I

Speaker 4 (15:10):
Who's this pink pink? Dear mister President, you don't remember
this one? No, that wasn't a big hit.

Speaker 5 (15:19):
Why yeah, see why one bears Rid's Matt you're such
a hater. I try to look past your lib comments.
Sometimes they make me mad. Of course Trump is smarter
than rhyme. Well, I think you're a Ryan hater. Yeah,
come on, that's a that's a put down Ryan.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
Is that from my mom?

Speaker 5 (15:36):
Then they go as far to say. You always say
people aren't smart. Why don't you give me conservatives you
think are smart? Or do you not have it?

Speaker 6 (15:44):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (15:44):
They are conservatives, they are smart. Ben Shapiro is smart.
Ted Cruz is smart. Elon Musk is smart, insane but smart.
Who else Marco Rubio is smart?

Speaker 2 (15:58):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (15:58):
Yeah, there's smart people. They're also dumb people. And by
the way, our side has dumb people too. I mean,
are dumb people.

Speaker 6 (16:05):
Smart people everywhere our side's got. It's like they are
good people. They are Republicans and they are bad people.
They are good people.

Speaker 5 (16:11):
They are Democrats and they are bad people. And they're
smart and not smart. The question was Trump and Ryan.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
Yeah, what a battle battle of the wits championship belt
at stake.

Speaker 6 (16:23):
I would pay to watch that on television.

Speaker 5 (16:25):
I would say, I'm not saying the Reds are the
best teams.

Speaker 2 (16:29):
Oh, here we go. In baseball, you just said the
other day you've given up on them.

Speaker 5 (16:35):
That was last week, but they're back now. They're gonna
lose today. If you want to make a DraftKings, bet
they're gonna they play at one o'clock. They're gonna lose today.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
Is at a bullpen game or something.

Speaker 6 (16:45):
Well, No, it's just I you know, sometime sometimes I
feel it.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
Huh.

Speaker 5 (16:48):
They've won five in a row. Can I give you
two stats that are impressive.

Speaker 4 (16:52):
Shannon, Oh, I love to hear a red stack.

Speaker 5 (16:54):
They've won, They've won three. They've won five in a
row three times this year. The Reds, the Reds, and
there are only three teams in baseball who haven't been
swept in a series.

Speaker 6 (17:03):
Yet this year Shannon against.

Speaker 5 (17:05):
Oh, the Dodgers es team in baseball, the Yankees.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
I'm guessing the Reds and the red They've never been swept.

Speaker 6 (17:12):
Haven't been swept yet.

Speaker 4 (17:13):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
They've swept a few teams, but never been swept.

Speaker 6 (17:16):
Haven't been swept.

Speaker 5 (17:17):
So they won the Ohio Cup for the first time
since twenty nineteen, which Shannon, I didn't know was a thing.

Speaker 6 (17:24):
There was an Ohio Cup. No where they played Cleveland
and whoever wins gets a cup.

Speaker 3 (17:28):
Wow, that has to be a recent thing. For the
longest time, they didn't do interleague pull.

Speaker 5 (17:31):
Attack, they didn't play so but it starts starting to
get excited, like Terry Francona starting to play the right lineups.
Andrew Abbitt threw one hundred and ten pitches last night,
complete game shutout.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
That never happens anymore.

Speaker 5 (17:42):
Never what you think you guys appreciate big good plays.
What about that Freiley catch, Dude, that's one of the
best catches I've ever seen.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
Awesome, awesome. He was the pregame interview guy to talk
about his daughter that has cancer. You can't help, but
like the guy. Then he goes out and makes this
great play.

Speaker 6 (17:56):
Lift cat, Shannon, I did. Yes, that's a heck of
a cat.

Speaker 3 (17:59):
That is great catch. Not the best catch this year
at the Oakland Athletics catch I had.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
So when did the Red start playing the Yankees and
these tough series.

Speaker 5 (18:09):
It's well, they played the Tigers this weekend and they're
the best team in baseball huh, which people don't realize,
but the Tigers. So they played him this weekend. This
week they play the Yankees in about ten days. I'm
selling my tickets they play uh, San Diego. If they
start playing.

Speaker 2 (18:22):
Good teams, good team's coming though.

Speaker 5 (18:24):
Well Cleveland was decent, but we beating them five street.
Now next week they might be going again.

Speaker 2 (18:31):
But right now, for today, you're back on board.

Speaker 6 (18:34):
Free bird, go ahead, free bird.

Speaker 10 (18:37):
Hey, guys, what was up at your studio was yesterday. Man,
you all got a very very nice setup there. Uh
Larrio and Rachel got got me a security clearance, and
I like Ryan's conspiracy theory, and I got another one
for you. Uh Stoops has gone after this year and
he's going to go to Louisville to be the defensive coordinator.

Speaker 5 (19:00):
That would be the wow. I appreciate it. I appreciate
the call. I think if Stoops, when Stoops leaves here,
I think he will retire. I mean he's gonna have
enough money to do whatever he wants.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
And he's got a very successful bourbon business going right now.
He can retire and still live a very very comfortable life.

Speaker 6 (19:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (19:18):
If if I made you bet is he the coach
next year or not? Year after this? Made you bet
yes or no, what would you say?

Speaker 2 (19:28):
I'd probably say no.

Speaker 6 (19:29):
You would say no, Yeah, you put your money on no.

Speaker 2 (19:32):
I would you know the fact that he was sniffing
with Texas A and M just two years ago. The
bad year last year. I think they're gonna have a
bad year this year. I would say, man, I get fired.
I think he may step away voluntarily. But just I
say no, don't be the.

Speaker 4 (19:44):
Coach, Shannan, I think he will be back at least
one more year.

Speaker 6 (19:48):
No, I mean after this one, that's right, Yeah, after
this year?

Speaker 3 (19:51):
Okay, so yeah, I'll say I'll say he's back for
another year.

Speaker 6 (19:54):
So you think it's at least I think?

Speaker 4 (19:56):
I think is there another two or three years?

Speaker 6 (19:58):
Okay?

Speaker 4 (19:58):
What do you think?

Speaker 6 (20:02):
You made me bad?

Speaker 5 (20:04):
I would say no, yeah. I think it's gonna be
a tough year. I think we're not going to do well,
and I think this fan base is gonna be hm rough.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
It was the water was starting to get hot last year.
After last season, you can't win an SEC game at home?

Speaker 6 (20:20):
Is that a phrase? The water was getting hot?

Speaker 2 (20:23):
You know, the boiling water.

Speaker 6 (20:24):
But isn't it the seat?

Speaker 2 (20:26):
Well, it could be water too.

Speaker 6 (20:29):
Hot? Do you I could be wrong, Shan. You ever
heard the phrase the water is getting hot?

Speaker 4 (20:35):
No, no, seats getting hot?

Speaker 2 (20:38):
Maybe we should start using it.

Speaker 6 (20:40):
I don't know if that's a phrase.

Speaker 4 (20:41):
Boiling water?

Speaker 6 (20:42):
It is today?

Speaker 5 (20:43):
So you have right now you have Mark Pope just
sitting into Mark excuse me, Mark Stoops sitting in a
tub of water and.

Speaker 2 (20:51):
The water it's hot. Yeah, the water's getting hot.

Speaker 6 (20:55):
But he's all, he's in the hall.

Speaker 4 (20:56):
Get out of the water to be cooked, is what
you're saying.

Speaker 5 (21:00):
Yeah, the skin is pruning. Yeah, okay, all right, David,
go ahead, David.

Speaker 11 (21:08):
Yes, just tuned into the second half of your show.
But how good would my how Holly would you rank
this incoming basketball? Incoming in this year? And then the
second question.

Speaker 5 (21:24):
Like a preseason basketball? Okay, yeah, go ahead? What' you're saying?

Speaker 9 (21:27):
All right?

Speaker 11 (21:27):
With the transfer in the second question, I know absolutely
nothing about law of politics, but with with Trump being
in this current office position, how is it not considered
some type of conflict of interest with all his business?

Speaker 6 (21:41):
And I don't like to get into I appreciate call.

Speaker 5 (21:44):
I don't want to get into the second one because
then it'll just become a political show. I talk about
some of that stuff on my Thursday Matt Jones Show
of Night and podcast. So I I'll put that one
off on the first one. I think Kentucky, if I'm
going to put them in a preseason poll, fifth, fourth, sixth,

(22:06):
something like that, I think you look at it produced
got more coming back Houston, maybe floor, but I think
you're you get in that next range of teams that
on paper look good and you just have to see
what happens. I think Kentucky's on that list. So if
I were again, I don't claim to know every team's

(22:28):
roster up and down, but I would say fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh,
that's where I would put Kentucky pre.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
Seas same top eight. I think they're definitely an elite
eight level type team coming in may play better than that,
but as of right now, preseason, I'm going, yeah, top eight.

Speaker 5 (22:43):
It's just so much is gonna come down to how
good is uh, how good.

Speaker 6 (22:50):
Is Jalen Lowe.

Speaker 5 (22:52):
Jalen Low's elite, then we got a shot at winning
the whole thing. If he's not, then I think it's
gonna be a team a little better than last year,
but a similar kind of inconsistency. But you give me
an elite Jalen Lowe and then bring on anybody.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
An elite Jalen Lowe, and if one of these guys
becomes a knockdown shooter.

Speaker 5 (23:13):
But I feel like amongst all these guys, we'll get
the other stuff. Yeah, I think so somebody will end
up good, yep, but Jalen Lowe kind of has to
be good.

Speaker 6 (23:23):
We'll be right back TJ. Smith, personal injury attorney, called TJ.
He'll make them pay.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio present it by Stockton Mortgage.

Speaker 4 (23:32):
Here's Matt Jones.

Speaker 6 (23:34):
So you're probably trying to say Ryan that he was
in hot water.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
Yes, hot water, the water's getting hot.

Speaker 5 (23:40):
Yeah, that's not exactly how you say it, but that's
probably where your mind was. We have some people on
the text machine who translate Ryan to.

Speaker 6 (23:47):
English pretty well.

Speaker 5 (23:49):
It's good like they hear a Ryan phrase and they're
able to tell me, I think this is what he means.

Speaker 4 (23:54):
That makes sense, he's in hot water. I've definitely heard that.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
One.

Speaker 5 (23:57):
One person writes, Matt, shut up about the Reds and
act like they're good. They're in fourth place in the
NL Central. Well, I think you're in fourth place in
the NLS, fourth out of five teams. I believe that's
okay though, because they don't in the NL Central. They
just have to get to the wildcard for three and
a half back from the wildcard and we're not even

(24:17):
halfway through the season.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
But you got the tough, tough series coming up.

Speaker 5 (24:21):
Yeah, but we're starting we're starting to hit, we're starting
to sluck.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
We'll see how you feel next week after Tigers.

Speaker 5 (24:27):
I still understand why Matt McLean's the worst player he
shouldn't be staying.

Speaker 6 (24:31):
Why is he the worst place he shouldn't be?

Speaker 5 (24:33):
He he was so good, yes, and he just he
hits like one eighty.

Speaker 2 (24:38):
Just not working for him this year for summer.

Speaker 5 (24:40):
Have you ever had a player in a sport that
objectively you know isn't good, but you still love because
the Reds have.

Speaker 6 (24:46):
One of those guys.

Speaker 5 (24:46):
For me, Will Benson stinks, but I still like him
and I root for him. I think I for something
about left handed baseball players.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
Your swing is awful, sweet, don't you think?

Speaker 6 (24:57):
Well, I don't know why it is, but left handed baseball.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
Players sweet swing. It's just something about I'm.

Speaker 5 (25:03):
Back to Griffy. Yeah, you know, there's just something about
the lefties. And so that's part of why I like Ellie.
I like Ellie from the left. Will Benson? Did you
ever have a guy like that, Shannon?

Speaker 6 (25:12):
That's not what?

Speaker 5 (25:13):
Has there been a Kentucky player like objectively wasn't very good,
but you liked him more than how good he was.

Speaker 3 (25:19):
Jered Prickett had a great freshman year, but after that
he was just frustrating one like Jared Prickett.

Speaker 6 (25:24):
Mine was Razor Ramone Harris.

Speaker 5 (25:27):
Yeah, not particularly good, but I would I'd go to
bat for Razor Ramone Harris.

Speaker 6 (25:32):
What about you? You got one?

Speaker 2 (25:34):
No, those are two really good ones.

Speaker 5 (25:36):
Just somebody that you know you liked them a lot
more than they were good. Text machine maybe you all
have one seven seven four five two five four. Have
you seen the videos of Deamarcus?

Speaker 2 (25:47):
Yes, I did, I did.

Speaker 4 (25:50):
WHOA, it's done for the season.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
Done the season?

Speaker 6 (25:54):
Where is he in Puerto Rico?

Speaker 2 (25:55):
Puerto Rico?

Speaker 5 (25:56):
Well, I will tell you this, that dude. So there's
two video. So there's one of him like being ejected
and being held on the ground. That's amazing they were
to hold him down. But the one I can't believe
is the other one where he confronts the guy in
the crowd, Shannon. I cannot believe that guy had the
audacity to think, I would you look at DeMarcus Cousins.

Speaker 6 (26:20):
And do what that guy did.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
No, he was right there in the front, I mean
right there.

Speaker 6 (26:24):
On the floor.

Speaker 5 (26:24):
Security may get him at some point, but you're gonna
get destroyed him before that. People have a lot of
gumption in this world to look at them. I don't
even care what he was saying to him. If DeMarcus
looked at me like DeMarcus looked at him, I'd run.

Speaker 2 (26:41):
Six eleven dudes staring you down while you're sitting there,
get out.

Speaker 5 (26:45):
DeMarcus one time said something to me on Twitter and
I was scared. Remember that he when cal left, he
said something to me on Twitter and I was like, Okay,
do I need security like DeMarcus DeMarcus. I was looking
around while I was reading my tweet.

Speaker 6 (27:01):
It's like, are you here.

Speaker 4 (27:02):
He's not a guy you want to mess with.

Speaker 12 (27:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (27:04):
I love the Marcus, but I would not want to mess.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
With especially when he's not mad, right yeah, yeah, no way.

Speaker 6 (27:13):
Well.

Speaker 5 (27:16):
For the year, I love that guy, and it's just
I feels like he's been like one step short of what.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
Do you feel like? His temper really hurt him.

Speaker 5 (27:26):
He's get other jobs, got a huge temper, I mean,
but he's got a good heart now, he does.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
He does have a good heart.

Speaker 5 (27:35):
Yeah, I've been in his wrath. I was in his
wrath when he was here once. There's that video, you
remember that picture of him grabbing me around the neck.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
Uh, huh.

Speaker 6 (27:43):
Remember that he did love but I also was a
little nervous. He gab me on my neck and goes,
don't you have these people call me Carl?

Speaker 2 (27:50):
Yeah, he was blaming you for that.

Speaker 5 (27:53):
Well he was right too. We were calling him Carl
and he had his hand around my neck. There's a
picture of it. Somebody took it from behind, and he
was like, I love you, bro, but if people start
calling me Carl. So I was walking around, don't coln Carr,
don't con Carl no Carl.

Speaker 13 (28:09):
So.

Speaker 6 (28:09):
Yeah, I wish him the best.

Speaker 5 (28:10):
He's I think he's a good dude, just got a temper,
which happens sometimes.

Speaker 6 (28:14):
Dan, go ahead, Dan.

Speaker 13 (28:16):
Yeah, Hey Natt, Dan from Rocky Mount. I got two
things real quick. Main thing in this world, Ryan's got
your moral standing. You got good moral standing. The other
guy's you're a ten, he's a minus ten. The second
thing is if we have a five hundred football team
this year and beat Louisville, well all this stuff about

(28:38):
Vance be forgotten.

Speaker 5 (28:39):
That's a great point. Yes, if he wins. I said
this on kol Kubrick Show this morning. Nice to hear
from you, Dan, appreciate the call. If we go six
and six, people will forget about Vince, especially if it's
six and six and beat Louisville.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
Yep, we'll just two seasons ago.

Speaker 6 (28:51):
That's exactly what happened.

Speaker 2 (28:53):
Five and six, going into the Louisville game. At Louisville
heavy underdog, seat was hot for Stoops, he was in
that hot water. They won the game, it all disappeared.
Same thing would happen this year.

Speaker 5 (29:03):
And we would get to laugh at Vance yep, which
I think fans would.

Speaker 6 (29:08):
Would enjoy.

Speaker 5 (29:09):
So, yeah, you're exactly right, it would be that would
make it fine. Pharrell, what's up farail or feral? Which one?

Speaker 6 (29:16):
Is it? Far? Far? Okay?

Speaker 14 (29:21):
Yes, I would also say friend of the Show.

Speaker 9 (29:25):
JD.

Speaker 14 (29:25):
Vance is also a smart Republican.

Speaker 6 (29:26):
Y're smart?

Speaker 5 (29:28):
Yeah, and I would former Friend of the Show. But yes,
definitely definitely a smart guy. That's true.

Speaker 14 (29:36):
That so maybe played Florida last year and beat them.
Miami's walking off to the visitors' locker room and they're
taunting the kind of recruits. They walked right by the
recruits and there's a lady kind of pushing them away.
She was the This might be a moot point now, obviously,
but she turned out to be the assistant athletic director

(29:59):
in charge of of recruiting. And I always thought that
would be perfect fit for Vince Marrow at the school
because he's well no.

Speaker 6 (30:07):
I thought that's where he would end up.

Speaker 5 (30:08):
I thought, yeah, I thought at some point he would
transition into that role. I did, so that's part of
why I was surprised he did this. My thought was
at some point he would just move into like an
ambassador slash recruiting role at UK and then I guess
he's taking a role like that with Louisville.

Speaker 14 (30:26):
Yeah. Yeah, it's a big disappointment it's not here because
I always wanted that for him, and that's it's a suck.

Speaker 5 (30:34):
He'll wish I appreciate the call. He'll wish he had,
He'll wish he had kept that. I really believe that
at some point, first couple of years may go great.
And I know he's friends with Jeff Brown. I think
that's a big part of it. They played together in
the XFL.

Speaker 6 (30:46):
Is that right? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (30:47):
I think so.

Speaker 5 (30:48):
For the Birmingham what sure, no idea renegade. The Barrens
was their minor league team. Yes, can anybody name Birmingham's
old XFL team where Jeff Brohm and Vince maryl.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
Vinny Gage is a good guess that was one of
the nicknames.

Speaker 3 (31:10):
Let's say, Vince, you sure wasn't the Orlando Rage. We're
talking about two thousand and one.

Speaker 6 (31:15):
Could have been the Orlando Rage.

Speaker 5 (31:17):
Yeah, I thought that, But Jeff Bron played in Birmingham
because he played, he was the MVP of the first
year of the XFL.

Speaker 4 (31:23):
Bron wasn't with the Rage at all.

Speaker 6 (31:24):
Ever, I hadn't kept up with the Rages roster over
the year.

Speaker 4 (31:29):
You weren't raging the way.

Speaker 6 (31:30):
It was possible that at some point he ended up
with the Rage. Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (31:35):
Vince also played for the Frankfurt Galaxy from ninety seven
to ninety eight.

Speaker 4 (31:38):
I don't even know what that is.

Speaker 6 (31:39):
That's in Germany.

Speaker 5 (31:40):
Yeah, yeah, that's the Europe Well, Vince played in Germany.

Speaker 3 (31:45):
So if there were teammates, that would have to be
Orlando because that's the only year that Vince played in
the XFL.

Speaker 6 (31:49):
Gotcha, Let's go to Nadia. How are you, Nadia.

Speaker 12 (31:54):
Good?

Speaker 6 (31:55):
Matt good? What's going on?

Speaker 5 (31:58):
Well?

Speaker 15 (31:59):
I was calling to make my case for you guys
to come to my house and do the show. But
are you not doing that segment right now?

Speaker 6 (32:05):
We aren't doing it today.

Speaker 5 (32:07):
No, I'll tell you what though, Ryan write down what
she says because we're gonna do it tomorrow and we'll
let you.

Speaker 6 (32:13):
Nadia have your case in the books.

Speaker 15 (32:15):
Okay, okay, all right, I have four points.

Speaker 12 (32:19):
Please hear me out.

Speaker 15 (32:19):

(32:41):
And finally, we just have a little humble apartment where
empty nesters. Our son is a stigment at UK.

Speaker 14 (32:47):
So there's my case.

Speaker 15 (32:49):
We would love to have you guys here.

Speaker 6 (32:52):
I promise you that's perfect.

Speaker 5 (32:54):
All right, Nadia, hang on, get Shan and get get
her number because we'll use her as contested one when
we do this tomorrow. All right, so hang on you
He'll get it. Bangladeshi food is good. You ever have
Bangladeshi food?

Speaker 2 (33:06):
I'm not, but anytime somebody's gonna feed me, I'm voting
for him.

Speaker 5 (33:09):

Who would you take Indiana?

Speaker 2 (35:24):
They're gonna win the game, let alone being a five
and a half point underdog.

Speaker 6 (35:27):
I'm gonna win the game under by thirteen.

Speaker 2 (35:30):
Oh no, wow, wow in Indianapolis.

Speaker 3 (35:32):
I think Indiana gets this one and then things get
really interesting. All the pressure then shifts on to Oklahoma
City thirteen.

Speaker 5 (35:41):
I'm gonna actually bet exactly that. Are you under by
under by thirteen?

Speaker 6 (35:46):
Zach?

Speaker 4 (35:46):
Get really good odds for that? Maybe if it's exactly
thirteen exactly.

Speaker 6 (35:50):
I know I'm betting it's going to be thirteen.

Speaker 2 (35:53):
You know, I've always wondered whether weren't more Pacer fans
in Kentucky. It's Indiana is the closest NBA team to Kentucky,
and yet we're still not a lot of patri fans here.

Speaker 6 (36:01):
We cheer.

Speaker 5 (36:01):
I cheer for the Knicks and wherever Kentucky guys are,
I can get that, and they're in Oklahoma City.

Speaker 2 (36:07):
Yeah, so we got Isaiah Jackson on the Pacers. Of course,
it is he hurt, he's hurt. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (36:13):
Did he play before he was hurt?

Speaker 2 (36:14):
He did earlier this year, but he's been hurt for
quite a while.

Speaker 5 (36:17):
Okay, thunder by thirteen boom? Did you write it down?

Speaker 6 (36:21):
Yep?

Speaker 4 (36:22):
If they went by thirteen wins a lot of money.

Speaker 5 (36:25):
By the way, I didn't get them. I didn't get
to college basketball rules. We'll talk about it tomorrow. Monday night,
I do want to tell this. I there was a
guy from my fellowship that was in from in from
Miami in Louisville for a conference. There was the National
Parking Conference, which sounds awful. Did you know Louisville hosted

(36:46):
the National Parking Conference?

Speaker 6 (36:48):
No?

Speaker 4 (36:48):
What is that?

Speaker 5 (36:49):
An entire four day conference for people to talk about parking?

Speaker 2 (36:54):
God, that sounds sounds awful.

Speaker 6 (36:57):
What about Louisville hosted it?

Speaker 5 (37:00):
Kentucky welcomed the world's parkers to Louisville. Anyway, we went
to dinner Monday night, and I wanted him to see
the neighborhood. So he went to the Eagle, which is
close to my house. We're eating. You know, I was
talking to him. I hadn't seen him, well, I mean,
I saw him in Amerstein, but I guess you know,
he never been in Kentucky, which I'm telling you about Kentucky.

Speaker 6 (37:18):
He's asked me all these questions.

Speaker 5 (37:19):
All of a sudden, he just looks at me, like
out of nowhere and goes, hey, could you drive me
back downtown because there's a parking reception tonight. I said sure,
so we're walking to my car. We just get up
and walked my car. And then I realized, as I'm
about to drop him off downtown, what I was gonna
say to him is Okay, when I'm in Miami, you pay, yeah.

Speaker 6 (37:41):
And as I'm saying that, I realized I hadn't paid.
Oh no, and neither had he. We had just walked
out of the restaurant. I don't you know.

Speaker 5 (37:53):
I was so engulfed, like he had just randomly said
let's go yeah, and I didn't think pay, and she
and I had walked out on this bill. And now
I'm starting to panic a little bit because I can
see the Facebook Matt Jones.

Speaker 6 (38:10):
Does Matt Jones think he is?

Speaker 5 (38:12):
Matt Jones walks out on the bill because the waiter
had already said like, hey, I'm a Louisville fan. Oh,
so I'm thinking like, I got to get back to
the Eagle, right, but it's about the time they close,
you know, so I like jump in the car, try
to call nobody answers. I'm like speeding through Louisville trying

(38:33):
to get there to pay my bill. I run in
and they go, well, we wondered if you were going
to come back, and I said, I am so sorry.
I didn't think about it. I got this and I
was like, gonna give him a big tip. I gave
him like a big tip. I was like, I'm really
so sorry, you know, I really apologize. I said, this

(38:56):
probably happens though all the time, right, And he said
worked here four years never So if it had been
twenty minutes later it had been.

Speaker 2 (39:10):
Closed, Wow, then it would have been posted on Facebook
that night.

Speaker 6 (39:14):
And I would have been mortified.

Speaker 2 (39:15):
