Fat It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live at five
to eleven in Hamburg celebrating the Army's two hundred and
fiftieth birthday.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
We have had a great time here. Ryan deadlifted two forty.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
We have opened up a cut the cake for the
two hundred and fiftieth birth to house a cake.

Speaker 4 (01:17):
You already made a mess of it.

Speaker 5 (01:19):
It's really good.

Speaker 6 (01:19):
I had to replenish all the nutrients I lost deadlifting
all that enormous amount of weight.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
You think it's a lot of nutrients in that.

Speaker 5 (01:25):
Yeah, uh huh, yeah, it looks good.

Speaker 4 (01:27):
We say that.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
Hey, by the way, if you join the Army, you
get here's some benefit. Shit at full college tuition coverage
that's great, scholarships, trade training, full medical, dental, vision and
life insurance even for family members, and a ton of
skills you can learn. We were talking about some of
the jobs that you could do. And you know, even
if that's not for you, it's take a time, take

(01:48):
a second this weekend to celebrate the Army two hundred
and fifty years. Probably every single person listening to this
has someone in their family or a friend who's been
in the arm Force and who's been in the Army,
and this is a good time to think about it.
Today on the two hundred and fiftieth anniversary tomorrow.

Speaker 6 (02:06):
I wann give a shout out eighteen year old Jacob
Browning back there. I coached him when he was a
little guy in football, signed up, joined the Army. He's
here to help celebrate.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
Here at eighteen.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Now, that's a thirty five year old mustache man. Army
will put hair on your face. Man, seriously, that congratulations.
Congratulations on doing that. If I'm nine two eighth twenty
two eighty seven. Before we go back to phones, let's
go over there's a bunch of a bunch of sporting
events this weekend. We'll talk about here in the second hour,

(02:36):
but let's start with the one that I think is
the most ridiculous shading in Cincinnati tomorrow night, the Savannah
Bananas are playing at Great American Ballpark, and they are
It's sold out. I've had more people say to me, Matt,
you go in the Savannah Bananas.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
I'm not.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
I sold my tickets that I was able to buy,
got some good money for the Savannah Bananas tickets.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
Would you go?

Speaker 7 (03:02):
Absolutely, I've always wanted to go, but you have to
win a lottery just to be able to buy tickets.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
We season ticket holders.

Speaker 7 (03:09):
Oh yeah, well, us peasants have to win a lottery
to be able to get tickets to it, but I've
always wanted to go. It's kind of like the Harlem
Globe Trotters of baseball looks like a lot of fun.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
Is like it's a perfect example of how things will
go viral and be here. I mean, they are getting
insane crowds this summer. I don't know how long that
will be able to continue, but it's wild the crowds
they're getting.

Speaker 6 (03:29):
They went from selling out minor league stadiums to now
selling out major league baseball stadiums.

Speaker 5 (03:34):
Were Louisville last year, They're sold.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
Out football stadium. That's crazy they sell They showed out
sold out Charlotte Speedway twice back to back nights. That's
crazy to me.

Speaker 7 (03:48):
And they just make it so much fun for the fans.
If the fan catches a foul ball, the players out,
so they play their own form of baseball. But inn
a ball, they call it?

Speaker 4 (03:58):
Is that right?

Speaker 5 (03:58):
The fan catches it is? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (04:00):
Yeah, So if there's a foul ball and you catch it,
the guys out.

Speaker 4 (04:04):
I just here's the only thing I don't like about it.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
I don't like their stupid dancing umpire because like if
you watch the game, somebody said, ah, if you watch
the game, just all of a sudden they'll be playing,
and then all of a sudden he just gets up
in dances and everybody goes crazy. And I for some
reason that annoys me, and I don't know why. They
also have a shot a clock. It only goes two hours.
Uh the game ends after two hours, no matter what
it is.

Speaker 6 (04:26):
I watched the documentary they had on them and fell
in love with him, and I've always wanted to see him.
So yeah, next time you get tickets off from DeShannon
me first where you go sell.

Speaker 7 (04:32):
Them and making all that money. Always play the Party Animals.
I think it's the team. They always win.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
A few teams the Party Animals, like the butt Monsters
or something like that.

Speaker 7 (04:42):
That's a team.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
There's like three or four teams they play. But anyway,
and by the way, the games are real, like they
don't win.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
Everybody was gonna ask you.

Speaker 7 (04:49):
I was gonna ask you that, Like you know, the
Washington General is only one like once or twice. I
think the other.

Speaker 5 (04:53):
Teams will win.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
YESI I think Savannahs better, but the other teams will
uh uh will win. All right, So we went, we
talked about the board UK announced another thing yesterday, which
is they're putting They asked the university for one hundred
and thirty one million.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
Dollars for athletic projects.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
The board granted seventy one and they put I think
fifty under review. I thought it was kind of interesting
Ryan about the seventy one since that was what they
had to detail. Forty one is going or excuse me,
forty is going to football renovations, which includes some new suites,
an updated sound system thankfully, and Wi Fi.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
They're gonna have Wi Fi.

Speaker 7 (05:34):
I alway been asking for that for years.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
I don't know if they'll have it this fall, but
hopefully for the next one.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
So Wi Fi. So those are those are that's good.
They're gonna do soccer and softball renovation. So it was football, soccer, softball.
What was interesting to me about that is we've talked
about sports that I could have seen getting cut. I
kind of wondered if soccer might be one of them,
because a lot of the SEC teams do not play soccer.
Looks like, no, they're putting an investment in it. The

(05:58):
other one is they took a thirty one one million
dollar loan for balancing the budget. But in the con
and it was interesting in the conversation about approving it,
they made a point that I do think in today's world,
Mitch Barnhart again needs to be saluted for this will
be the first time that Kentucky's ever had to take

(06:18):
a loan for its its expenses, they said. Mitch Barnhart said,
we expect to pay it back in like three years.

Speaker 4 (06:27):
But that noted.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
We're the only team in the SEC Ryan with a
balanced budget. We are the only SEC athletic program that
operates in the black. At other schools they have to
take money from tuition, the general fund, et cetera. UK
athletics operates as its own individual body and comes in

(06:49):
the black every year. I bet you there's only a
handful of schools in America that do that. I do
think Kentucky and especially Barnhart, deserves credit for that. To
I have successful programs and actually balance the budget is
pretty impressive.

Speaker 6 (07:05):
That's why he's so respected across the country as an
athletics director. It's not necessarily what his teams do, but
on the business side of it, and you just get
laid it up for us.

Speaker 5 (07:12):
That's amazing he's able to do that.

Speaker 6 (07:14):
You're in year out balance the budget for the athletics
budget that spends a lot of money.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
Finally, Jay Billis was on a podcast and said something
that I get asked about a lot. I got asked
yesterday at the house John Laura's house we were at yesterday,
which is, Matt is anything ever gonna be done about
the transfer portals, specifically you know how long people stay?
Jay Billis had an interesting point. Now, I don't know, Shannon,

(07:39):
if I agree with this. I'm not sure I think
he's gonna be right about this, but he's very smart
and very respected. He predicted that as part of starting
July first, as part of the new revenue sharing, that
schools are gonna make kids sign contracts and basically sign
two year deals to come to play at the school.
Say okay, you want us to pay you X amount

(08:01):
of money, you have to agree to play here for
two years. He says he thinks that will make it
to where next year's transfer portal has a third as
many people as Now. That's interesting to me. Now, I wonder, Shannon,
if players will just say no, if you want me.
I'm only signing for one year, yep. But then schools

(08:23):
could say, all right, what if I gave you one
hundred thousand dollars more and it's two years, you know,
one hundred thousand more a year.

Speaker 5 (08:30):
I don't know, but it'd be interesting to say.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
Billis thinks that schools are gonna do the two years
pretty consistently.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
Would you like that?

Speaker 3 (08:39):
But you'd also be locked in, by the way, Yeah,
if the kid doesn't work out, you gotta get him anyway.
It'll be licking the pros if he comes and he
said it doesn't work out, sorry, you're still paying him.

Speaker 5 (08:48):
For two years.

Speaker 7 (08:49):
Yeah, it's a gamble on both sides. It's all gonna
come down to, you know, negotiating skills per school and
per player. You know, there's so many players in the
transfer portal this year, like thousands that we're in there.
I think that this might give it a little bit
more stability if you signed players to two years. So
I think a lean I kind of like it a
little bit.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
I'm fine with it, but I tend to disagree with
Jay right. I think a lot of players are gonna go, hey, Kentucky,
you want me to sign for two years. Well, Yu
Khon only wants me to sign for one year, and
I got more freedom. I'm going to Yukon. I kind
of think the market is gonna make it hard for
schools to get guys to sign for two years.

Speaker 7 (09:27):
And then what if a guy signs for two years
and is eligible or you know, like let's say that
the draftft you still go there, okay, draft, I.

Speaker 4 (09:33):
Just couldn't transfer to another college.

Speaker 6 (09:35):
If you're a high end player of five star, maybe
in a four star, I wouldn't lock in for two years.
I didn't want to just lock in for one year.
You had that one good year maybe you can move
on or go pro.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
I think there would be players that would want to
do it, but they're probably not the best players.

Speaker 7 (09:48):
YEA, yeah, I think you're right about it.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
I think the best players would want to have the
freedom to do it every year.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
That's just that's just my guess. But that's kind of
how I feel.

Speaker 7 (09:57):
And then with the team necessarily what that type of
player to sign for two years. You know, like you said,
it may not work out for the team.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
It's an interesting wrinkle, and it's all the more reason
that the people you have in the position doing this
stuff need to be business people.

Speaker 4 (10:09):
Yep, you know. They don't need to be just Johnny, Joe, Bob.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
They need to be people who understand contracts, who understand
negotiation and business.

Speaker 7 (10:17):
You don't want to pay a player an extra one
hundred thousand dollars to come for a second year, then
it doesn't work out. Now you're paying that player all
that money to sit on the bench.

Speaker 5 (10:24):
I don't know how.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
It's gonna look starting July first, but I'm telling you,
and I'm I'm.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
Not people know his name.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
If you're really involved, I'm not gonna give it just
because I don't know if he wants that kind But
you and I both know right on the basketball side
of things, there's a dude that's been doing this for
Kentucky for the last three years in the collective sense
that everybody should give a thank you to.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
Because he negotiates these.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
Deals and he honestly is part not as much as Pope,
but he's partially why these guys end up here. Nobody
knows who he is because he's on the private side.
He does the club blue stuff, but he's been hugely important,
and it's because they found a dude who can relate
to people, who's really smart, who young people really like,

(11:15):
and knows how to deal.

Speaker 4 (11:15):
With their agents. I got to think Ryan, a lot
of schools don't have.

Speaker 5 (11:18):
A dude like that. No, and he's very valuable.

Speaker 6 (11:20):
And he's got a financial background, so that's what it
makes it even more valuable when he comes than negotiating
these quote unquote deals they're working out with them.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
And then he represents a lot of these guys when
they go to the NBA.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
So he represents bam Adebaio and Anthony Davis and a
lot of those guys. Kentucky's lucky to have that guy.
And I guarantee you most people don't know his name.
Shit do you even know?

Speaker 7 (11:39):
I don't know his name, But whoever you are, thank you.

Speaker 4 (11:41):
Yeah, well he knows who he is. He's probably listening
right now. Big salute. Who's up next? Bob is up next?

Speaker 3 (11:48):
Is this Bob and Jamestown? Because I have something to
say to him if he does.

Speaker 4 (11:51):
No.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
Okay, by the way, Bob, hang out your second Bob.
This made me a little sad. Ladies of KSR, you
know I mentioned that Facebook pages.

Speaker 4 (12:02):
Yeah, they had like.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
Over one hundred people try to join the page, and
when you do, you have to ask questions. Some of
them I think were newer listeners. They didn't know they
answer the questions. So I told the woman that runs it,
make the questions easier. So they just made a question
of name your favorite KSR caller.

Speaker 4 (12:18):
No. Thirty five percent, said Bob and Jackson.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
Wow. Now I'm gonna argue it's because that's the only
one they know well, because otherwise I don't think women
would pick Bob and Jamestown.

Speaker 7 (12:30):
I think Bob and Jamestown created a bunch of Facebook accounts.
Women's account yes checks out?

Speaker 4 (12:37):
That might be right, A right, go ahead, Bob.

Speaker 8 (12:40):
This was old Bob.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
But I understand Bob.

Speaker 9 (12:43):
Mention people that have contributed to the professional from Kentucky.
One I think one one championships in the ABA, and
he played for championships in the NBA. Was Cliff Hagen.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
I mentioned him, Bob the next segment. The next segment
I mentioned.

Speaker 9 (13:04):
It, Okay, But anyway, he and Frank Ramsey were a
pair at Boston and with Arrow Box. That's the biggest
mistake he ever made was when he got really.

Speaker 4 (13:19):
Yeah, I appreciate the call, Bob yes, we mentioned him.
I did.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
I did forget him in the first round, But otherwise
I think we did a good job with our list.
It's all said and done with cow guys. What's gonna
be the final ranking of cow guys when it's all
said and done, when they're all retired?

Speaker 4 (13:34):
How are we gonna write in the pros cow guys
in the pros?

Speaker 5 (13:36):
In the pros like you laid out, Anthony Days gonna
be number one?

Speaker 4 (13:39):
You think SGA doesn't pass him.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
I mean there's a world where SGA could he could
MVP a couple of times.

Speaker 4 (13:46):
I mean, it's possible, but you STI would go David.

Speaker 6 (13:48):
Davis one, SHA two. Then it gets a little dicey.
Maybe call Anthony Towns is gonna be in the top five.
US Randall may end up in the top five, Booker, Booker.

Speaker 4 (13:58):
What do you think anybody any young guy? Bam?

Speaker 3 (14:03):
You know, BAM's easy to forget, but BAM's a I mean,
BAM's two time Olympic gold medal winner, won a title.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
I think he hasn't won a time.

Speaker 7 (14:11):
Still out there he won a title.

Speaker 3 (14:15):
Yeah, I don't know if he'll get it next year,
but if he stays in San Antonio long enough he
could Max. Yeah, it's so, just if you're gonna predict,
I'm gonna say. I'm gonna say Shayan's up number one,
Are you really? Because I think he's gonna be good
for another five years, and that team is set up
to be good for another five years.

Speaker 4 (14:32):
They're young. So I'm gonna go.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
Shay one, eighty two, Booker three, Carl four, MAXI five.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
I think that's how it ends up.

Speaker 5 (14:42):
You can't argue against it.

Speaker 6 (14:44):
Lest we know, you try to go on just on
titles if you win a title, and that's why, when
you know, maybe Jamal Murray may sneak up there pretty
close to the top five.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
Yeah, no, it's I mean he's gonna have. Here's another
way to look at how many Hall of Famers is
he gonna have. Shay's gonna be a Hall of Famer,
Anthony Davis gonna be all. The other one is seven,
book are gonna be a Hall of Famer. He's gonna
be close. He and car are gonna be close. Yeah,
but Anthony Davis and Shay, he'll at least have two

(15:12):
maybe yes, four, I mean it's plausible.

Speaker 4 (15:15):
We'll see they're close.

Speaker 5 (15:16):
They're very close.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
They're close. I don't know if they will be or not.
Tell me about Stockton Mortgage.

Speaker 5 (15:19):

You're on your way stock to Mortgage mls A two

(15:41):
five nine Equal Housing Lender.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
Ay five nine two eight twenty two eighty seven. We
will take a break and be right back here live
the Army's two hundred and fiftieth Birthdays ks R.

Speaker 4 (15:51):
Walk back.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live at five eleven
at Hamburg. Got a lot of Army tactical gear like
sort of you know, hunt teams, the manly stuff in there.
They want me to come and get some manly stuff
when it's over, I'm gonna look manly.

Speaker 7 (16:06):
I'm waiting to put yes, you are to put that
homet on.

Speaker 4 (16:10):
Oh for god, I need to do that here in
just a second.

Speaker 3 (16:13):
Uh text machine seven seven two seven four five two
five four what person rights?

Speaker 4 (16:17):
Matt.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
I enjoyed listening to your pot your show last night,
The Matt Jones Show with Billy. It was fun watching
Billy get educated about politics.

Speaker 4 (16:25):
Now he was.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
Billy was good last night. I was proud of him.
He edited out one line he didn't want to be
set over the radio because he was embarrassed. But beyond that,
he died. Put it all up there, Bill, I understood
you were you were right to do that. But but
but so check that out this weekend, just us talking
about stuff, and uh, I got a lot more.

Speaker 4 (16:46):
Positive feedback than I thought I would on it. So
thank you to all of you who listened.

Speaker 5 (16:50):
Yeah, you you you warned it. It's not a sports broadcast.

Speaker 3 (16:53):
It's not and it's you know, uh don't, I mean
I don't. I don't want to get into it, but
just uh just check it out if you want to
on there.

Speaker 4 (17:00):
One person is Matt.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
Why wouldn't schools sign a contract with the player and
allow an opt out for the school if the player
doesn't work out, Well.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
Why would you say that wouldn't happen.

Speaker 7 (17:12):
Because the player would.

Speaker 5 (17:13):
Why the world would the player said? I mean, that's
the thing.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
Part of what has happened with all this is we've
given players something they used to.

Speaker 4 (17:20):
Not have, which is right.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
So why in the world is the player gonna sign
something where the school can get out of it and
they can't because you know what it's not and you
know what will happen is another school that's trying to
get him instead of us.

Speaker 4 (17:34):
We'll just say, all right, we'll sign the same deal,
but we won't make you put the oject.

Speaker 5 (17:37):
Absolutely.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
So, I mean, that's the thing is that you've heard
me say over the years when we've talked about this,
college sports has been the only entity in America that
does not has not operated as capitalism. Now it's capitalism.
You're gonna have to offer a better deal than your
competitor to get someone to come work for you. That's
what it's gonna be. And so Kentucky they Kentucky can, hey, hey,

(18:00):
we'll give you this. We can opt out at for
a year. You can't but if Tennessee wants to say
something different, Tennessee's gonna get them right, Like, that's gonna
be how it is.

Speaker 6 (18:08):
It's capitalism when you're negotiating these contracts can like insurance
and benefits and all that stuff get thrown into negotiations
as part of something.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
Well, no, I mean, part of the settlement is giving
those people insurance, Like, well, they've always had insurance, but
now they're gonna have workers comp you know, part of
what the NCAA did or not workers comp.

Speaker 4 (18:27):
But like if people get hurt, they'll part of what
the NCAA did is And this was good.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
They put a chunk of money from the major schools
away that goes to the small schools for when players
get serious injuries because there were small schools out there
that could not pay for that. Yeah, and now the
large schools, unbelievably to me, are actually agreeing to put
money so that if a kid plays for you know,

(18:52):
I don't know, Murray State and he gets hurt and
it's a long term life injury, there's money for him,
which is good.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
That's a positive think.

Speaker 7 (19:00):
This is right on on this. I mean, more and
more college has become closer to the NBA. So I
can see contracts being a part of the college game.

Speaker 4 (19:08):
Yeah, Cal cal Perry.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
Some reports that he's called and said to the Knicks,
I'm available.

Speaker 4 (19:18):
What do you make about that?

Speaker 5 (19:19):
Not shucked, same ol' call.

Speaker 6 (19:21):
Kind of throwing his name out there, trying to gill up,
drill up some exposure again for him, get his name
out there like he did when he was here. You know,
I'm flirting with UCLA. You know the seventy six ers.

Speaker 3 (19:32):
Well, I think well, when he flirted with UCLA and
with Cleveland and those, I think those schools actually wanted
him shit. And I don't know why the Knicks would
want no offense, but he's just seventy one to two
years old, and why would they want him now?

Speaker 7 (19:46):
That's a great question. And usually when you're the coach
and you're making the first move, that's not a good sign.

Speaker 5 (19:51):
You know.

Speaker 7 (19:51):
I think that they should come after him first if
they're interested.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
I do think it's clear that the Knicks fired their
coach without any plan. Yeah, because they they've gone to
like six different NBA coaches, and the coaches that their
teams have said no, you can't know.

Speaker 7 (20:05):
What serves them, right, though Tom Tilldo took them to
the the Eastern Conference Finals.

Speaker 3 (20:09):
But like Jason kidmu don'tku uh who else Quinn Snyder?
They might have been turned down by Billy Donovan. I mean, like,
I don't know, they really did not know what they
were who they were gonna get.

Speaker 6 (20:23):
Yeah, when they did it, I thought it was exactly
the opposite. I thought that he had a deal in
place with somebody, or why else will they let Thibbdeau
go like that?

Speaker 5 (20:29):
But obviously I was wrong.

Speaker 4 (20:30):
It looks like they did not. They just decided to
do it. Who's next? Danny is up next? Danny? Go ahead, Danny.

Speaker 10 (20:37):
Hey, guys, hey, I just want to he messed a
little bit of some flowers. That's that makes this show
so special to me, is you want to traveling around
the stay and doing these special remotes that you know,
just kill it when you do that. And I just
want to thank you for that. And then though that's

(20:58):
very kind of you, mad say, oh, he has a
better chance to win at Louisville. No, he has a
gier chance to win Low because.

Speaker 4 (21:07):
He's exactly right.

Speaker 3 (21:09):
That's that's that's that's actually a better way to put it.
I agree with that, sir. I appreciate the call. Yes,
Vince might win more at Louisville, but because it's easier there,
they're playing in the ACC. I mean again, Well, let's
do this. I'm gonna pull up Louisville's football schedule. Okay,
so let's you tell me who does Kentucky play in

(21:29):
the SEC next year?

Speaker 6 (21:31):
Florida, Tennessee, Texas, Georgia, Oh Miss, South Carolina.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
Yep, all right, Can I read you Louisville's conference schedule
for twenty twenty five? Okay, well, first it has to
come up, but twenty twenty five schedule. All right, So
here's Louisville. This is their conference scale. Well here, let
me just read you their whole schedule. Eastern Kentucky, James Madison,
Bowling Green. They're three and oh three and.

Speaker 4 (21:58):
Oh now here's their comp schedule.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
Pitt Virginia, Miami, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Cal, Clemson SMU.

Speaker 5 (22:08):
Good grief.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
So who do you who has a better chance of
uh of winning? So yeah, I like that. I need
to start using the word Shannon easier instead of better,
because it is easier.

Speaker 4 (22:19):
It just is.

Speaker 7 (22:20):
Yeah, I mean the ACC versus the SEC and football.
There is zero comparison to the two. I mean, you're
you know, you're playing against the top teams in America
when you're in the SEC and there's no Georgia, there's
no Tennessee even close.

Speaker 3 (22:33):
And I also remind you that last year when I
think Louisville went nine to three or whatever they were, they.

Speaker 4 (22:39):
Won almost every game on their last possession.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
But they also didn't play Clempson, right, and they didn't
play and uh there was somebody else good, but they
didn't play Clempson, the best team in the conference. So
it is worth noting that they have got they get
some breaks with the schedule.

Speaker 6 (22:54):
You got one team that even gonna probably flirt with
the playoffs, and that's Clemson. We got four teams coming
to our old A home games that are forting with
the playoffs next year.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
Yeah, I mean, well it's for Tennessee, Georgia, Texas, Florida
all go into the conference thinking they can make.

Speaker 5 (23:11):
The playoffs next year, probably don't Miss too and Old Miss.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
So we have five games of teams and Louisville thinks
they can make the playoffs. So you could argue half
our schedule against conference this year. Don't get me with well,
take a break very back. It's Kentucky Sports Radio quarterback
Turkey Sports Radio here live two hundred and fiftieth anniversary
of the US Army.

Speaker 4 (23:34):
You took a picture of me and the what do
you call the head piece? There? Is it like an
army combat helmet and a h uh?

Speaker 3 (23:42):
You took a picture and I do not look like
a military uh person.

Speaker 4 (23:47):
I think you'll get you didn't do a great job
of a framing that. Well.

Speaker 6 (23:51):
I think the ladies are gonna endure you as much
as they do in your cowboy hat when.

Speaker 4 (23:54):
I don't think they looked at him.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
I don't think that was exactly the same. But but
that's all right. Corn brand Ham though this weekend, if
you're trying to rest relax from this heat, Cornbredthip dot Com,
the Seltzers.

Speaker 4 (24:05):
What's your favorite? Seltzers?

Speaker 7 (24:07):
Salted watermelon is my absolute?

Speaker 3 (24:09):
Really?

Speaker 7 (24:09):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (24:10):
I like, yes, try it. It's a corn Brad Hemp
is the Good Life. They are a new title sponsor
of the Matt Jones Show on the BHAs and podcast.
Corn Brad Hemp used my co KSR thirty percent off
your first order corn Bred hemp and corpredhimp dot com.
There are a lot of sporting events this weekend. This
is another June weekend with a lot that you don't

(24:31):
think of. So I'm gonna run through them really quick.

Speaker 4 (24:33):
Let's go.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
I'm wearing an Edmonton Oilers hoodie last I know a
lot of y'all don't watch hockey, but this has been
like the best series maybe ever. I mean it's been
last night they won in overtime, or again five to four.
It's two games to two, uh in Edmonton. In Game five,
they are saying it could be one of the loudest
games in the history of hockey. W Edmonton. There are

(24:56):
already Edmonton people waiting in line for the game on
Saturday to get ready for it. Will you watch any
of it?

Speaker 6 (25:05):
I probably won't watch a second of it, but I
am paying attention more to it than probably I ever have,
just because it's been Every game has been like.

Speaker 3 (25:12):
The Florida players, Shannon are like you, they're little annoying gnats. Now,
I mean they try to fight. Yeah, let me tell
you what one of them did last night. All right,
So the goalie was out on the ice warming up, right,
So they're hitting they're hitting shots at him and he's
moving to get him and sliding. Yep, Florida's backup goalie

(25:33):
went right in his line of vision and was just
mocking whatever movement he made. No, I'm not kidding, as
he was like trying to he knew the goalie to
be looking at him and whatever. The backup goalie just
did the exact same thing he did. Rather than warming
up himself, he existed only to troll.

Speaker 4 (25:55):
Do you like that?

Speaker 7 (25:56):
I haven't watched any of the finals, but now I
know who my favorite team is, Florida, so I will
be watching.

Speaker 3 (26:02):
There was a guy Wayne Gretzky was on the post
game show. There's a guy's names like Biz or something.
He wears a mustache. He's kind of their Charles Barkley
and hockey. He they they He said, of the eight
most annoying players in the league, Ryan Florida has five
of them.

Speaker 7 (26:15):
Wow, So I mean ratio so.

Speaker 3 (26:18):
That's probably why they're noticed obs.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
He must be good.

Speaker 5 (26:22):
They won last year, trying to repeat again this year
in the finals.

Speaker 3 (26:24):
I'm for Edmonton. They care more right? NBA Finals, Uh,
same thing. Game four tonight in Indiana could be absolutely
wild In if they win, they could win the series.
Tickets are insane right now. If you go on the
secondary market, I know you're excited.

Speaker 6 (26:42):
I got my Pacers head on, man, I'm in sporting
in all the last couple of weeks.

Speaker 5 (26:45):
Pacers will not lose it home tonight.

Speaker 7 (26:48):
Win up three to one, will not lose.

Speaker 5 (26:50):
We can't lose it home tonight.

Speaker 7 (26:52):
I'm pulling for Indiana, but I picked okay see and six.
I'm gonna stick with that. Indiana, I don't think wins
another game.

Speaker 3 (26:59):
College World Series, first time in ever. Eight teams, seven
different conferences.

Speaker 11 (27:07):
Here.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
They said there'd be no parody, but eight teams, seven
different conferences.

Speaker 4 (27:11):
The SEC is the only one with two.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
You got, uh got LSU, You got Arkansas, U C
l A, Louisville, Oregon State, Coastal Carolina.

Speaker 4 (27:20):
Who am I missing?

Speaker 5 (27:21):
Murray?

Speaker 3 (27:24):
I'm an idiot, Murray State. There's still somebody else anyway.
Uh Miami, Miami?

Speaker 4 (27:29):
What do you think? No Miami lost? Never mind? Shut up, Matta.
Who are you gonna watch?

Speaker 5 (27:33):
It's crazy?

Speaker 6 (27:34):
Only two SEC teams and they're gonna play each other
in the first round and.

Speaker 4 (27:37):
They're probably the two best teams left in the tournament.

Speaker 5 (27:39):
But what's the only state that has two teams in
the College World Series Hockey.

Speaker 4 (27:43):
I don't count Louisville. We have one team in the Okay,
I'm kidding.

Speaker 7 (27:47):
I like the city, but I'll be watching all the
games against Louisville. Of course, of course.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
Got room against Louisville. The US Open is taking place
in the first two rounds. It's the second hardest course
they've ever had in the US Open. A guy this
morning shot fifty one on the front, which is really, really,
really really bad. The leaderboard kind of stinks, though the
good huh, you can do that. That's exactly right. The

(28:13):
leaderboard kind of stinks. Do you like watching the US
Open because the golfers all struggle?

Speaker 4 (28:17):
Do you enjoy that?

Speaker 6 (28:18):
Because they do struggle, and they do struggle, and I
do enjoy that, But I don't watch it.

Speaker 4 (28:22):
All right, so you're out on the US Open, I
might watch a little bit of it.

Speaker 7 (28:24):
It does make it more relatable for somebody like myself,
who is terrible at golf, to watch professionals be terrible
at golf.

Speaker 4 (28:30):
You need to watch.

Speaker 3 (28:30):
There's a shot Jordan Speith hit yesterday that he hit
it like a foot he was trying to hit a
full shot and it literally went afoot.

Speaker 4 (28:38):
So there is something about that that's good.

Speaker 7 (28:39):
I also liked the story about Scotti Scheffler's Venmo being public.
Somebody got a hold of it. Now people are sending
them tips when they win bets or maybe if they
didn't win.

Speaker 4 (28:49):
Yeah, and then finally, Ryan, you can answer this.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
The high school baseball and softball tournament feels like it
goes on for two to three months.

Speaker 4 (28:58):
It is still going on this weekend.

Speaker 3 (29:01):
The boys, I think it's like Trinity Boyd County, I
can't PRP and somebody else, and then the girls is
like assumption, and so you tell us you know better
than anybody who's winning.

Speaker 6 (29:12):
Well, you know, they used to do it all the
sweet sixteen and one weekend, but then it got to
the championship game and teams were having to throw like
a JV kid that only threw, like didn't throw one
varsity game all year in the state championship game. So
they got a Final four, gave him another week so
their best pitchers can pitch this weekend.

Speaker 5 (29:27):
In the final four. That's what we did for baseball.

Speaker 6 (29:29):
PRP and Trinity are in opposite brackets. I think it's
gonna be an all Louisville final PRP.

Speaker 4 (29:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (29:34):
I know people don't like necessarily always cheering for Louisville schools,
but on Saturday, if you have nothing to do and
it ends up being PRP and Trinity, that might be
one of the better high school finals they've had in years.

Speaker 4 (29:45):
Here. Those are two really, really good teams PRP.

Speaker 3 (29:49):
By the way, you know, I hadn't won anything in
a long time, so I'm kind of pulling for PRP.

Speaker 4 (29:52):
What about you.

Speaker 7 (29:54):
I think I'm going for PRP as well. Now, you
talked about the pitching side of this for softball, though
softball players.

Speaker 5 (30:00):
They could throw every game, right.

Speaker 4 (30:02):
Yeah, those girls can pitch like every game.

Speaker 7 (30:04):
I never understood, like exactly why that is a different motion,
different motion.

Speaker 5 (30:07):
It doesn't hurt your arm as much.

Speaker 6 (30:09):
But I guess you're trying to consider not putting risk.
So he spread it out over two weeks.

Speaker 3 (30:13):
Yeah, the girls in the College World Series is pitch
and pitch and pitch.

Speaker 4 (30:16):
Who's up next? Jared is up next? Jared, go ahead, Jared.
Hey man.

Speaker 11 (30:24):
I just am very disappointed in the UK fans that
are wishing fence Merrill success or happiness at u of L.
I mean my dad for instance, I mean died in
twenty thirteen. Great friends played football at flage A High
School with Howard Schnollenberger. Never ever heard him wish him

(30:46):
success at u of L when he he always felt
that he betrayed. You know, UK and him remain friends.
I mean, Howard kate to my dad's funeral, but he
never wished him well at you of well when they
when they played, and uh, it's just it's disappointing. I mean,
in fact, take my dad when when U of L

(31:07):
used to playing basketball the USSR Soviet Union team, we
would all gather around and cheer for the Soviet Union team.

Speaker 4 (31:16):
For you, that's a great.

Speaker 3 (31:18):
Yeah, fair enough, I get it. Uh, I appreciate call.
I generally agree with you. I can't cheer for Louisville.
I did have a guy write me on the text machine.
I don't have it pulled up or I would read
exactly what he said. But he said something like, Matt,
if you only listen to KSR, you would think that
the state that are Kentucky fans all hate Louisville. He's like,

(31:38):
but in my experience, over half of Kentucky fans still
cheer for Louisville when Kentucky's not playing. I think that's nonsense,
but I also live in my KSR world. Do you
think there's any chance that's true their rivals. I don't
think you want your rival to win, ever, But do
you know people who also cheer for Louisville.

Speaker 5 (31:59):
Maybe your dad might be the only one.

Speaker 7 (32:01):
He's a Loill fan.

Speaker 5 (32:02):
Yeah, yeah, I don't.

Speaker 3 (32:05):
Before I got imagine cheering for Kentucky and Louisville, Hillary
Clinton is the only person I could see cheering for
both teams, because like, you have to have principles. You
have to have principles, Like I'm still mad at Andy
cheer for that Louisville half, and I know he's the
governor of Kentucky and I get it, But like principles.

Speaker 7 (32:25):
Yeah, I don't know anybody in real life that pulls
for both.

Speaker 3 (32:29):
I could not cheer for Louisville or Tennessee in any
game unless they were playing with each other or playing
against each other. I'd pick the one I hated the
least in it. But otherwise other teams, there's a world.
There's even a world. I can see myself cheering for Duke.
I cheer for the football team. Sometimes there's no world.

(32:50):
I can see myself cheering for Louisville.

Speaker 5 (32:52):
Now here's a KEYO. I just thought of it.

Speaker 6 (32:54):
I know some people who are Kentucky fans, but their
kid went to play for Louisville.

Speaker 3 (32:58):
If they we've talked about, Yeah, like if Josiah was
playing for Louisville football.

Speaker 4 (33:03):
You are allowed to cheer for Louisville football. I give
you permission.

Speaker 3 (33:07):
But then when the season is over, career's over. It's
over over, and you can't cheer for another sport. You
can't go cheer for their So you can cheer for
the team your son is a reed.

Speaker 4 (33:17):
That's it.

Speaker 7 (33:17):
That's the one free pass you get. There's always an exception.
That's it right there.

Speaker 4 (33:21):
Do you agree with that?

Speaker 9 (33:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (33:22):
I think so. I mean you would almost have to
here for your kid. Imagine you didn't cheer for your
kids if you go to the game. Actually I might
do that, you know, because it sounds like something I
would do if.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
Anybody was gonna do it. I see you doing. We
don't take a break.

Speaker 3 (33:37):
We are here at the Army's two hundred and fiftieth
Birthday final segment before the weekend.

Speaker 4 (33:41):
This is Kentucky Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (33:44):
Welcome Back, final segment Kentucky Sports Radio here live. Remember
the US Army Recruiting station is at one twelve Mount
Tabor Road in Lexington. Go see Sergeant Adams and all
of his folks and learn about your potential future with
the US Armed Forces.

Speaker 4 (33:58):
No Chelan the Farms.

Speaker 3 (33:59):
If you have a Father's Day gift, it's Sunday, so
you have to move quickly. But no Jaylenda Farms n
Occhelendafarms dot Com state delivered to your door. It's better
than anything you'll get at any restaurant in Lexington. Day
and in particular, Steve Grissom go above and beyond to
provide exceptional customer care. Order a Father's Day special box.

(34:20):
You could pick it up today or tomorrow for Father's Day,
or you know, you can give a late prison It's okay.
No Chaylenda Farms dot Com right here just outside of Lexington.
They'll accommodate you. They'll throw in some bacon beef for
you to sample.

Speaker 4 (34:34):
That's good.

Speaker 5 (34:35):
That's good from field to fork.

Speaker 4 (34:37):
No Chaylendafarms dot Com n O. C H. E.

Speaker 3 (34:41):
Linda Farms dot Com. You know we say facts are
optional here. I don't get everything right. I said PRP
hadn't won anything in a while. They did win the
state title last year, but besides that, they don't win
anything a lot. I am going to go this weekend
though out next to PRP. I've been told is like
a place with the best sandwiches in Lexington or in Louisville,

(35:05):
Gorilla Bob's Gorilla. I'm going there, get the cuban at
Gorilla Bob's. All right, So I'm gonna try. I don't know.
I'm not giving my endorsement. I've never been, but some
I had two different people this weekend say, Matt, if
you go when you know Louisville Gorilla Bob.

Speaker 4 (35:23):
So I'm gonna try Karila you've been there.

Speaker 7 (35:25):
I've never been there before, but it sounds good. If
Marshall likes it, I'm sure I would like it too.
So let me ask you, now that you know that
PRP just won last year, does that change who you
want to win this year?

Speaker 11 (35:34):
No?

Speaker 3 (35:34):
I still always pick a public school over a private school.
I'm always gonna pick PRP over But also I never
get to that part of town, Like you gotta want
to go out there, you know what I mean, Like
it's way out there and so on, But so I
will maybe i'll eat well.

Speaker 4 (35:48):
The game is in Lexington. I guess I won't go
to the game out there, but I will at least
go to Grilla.

Speaker 6 (35:52):
The fourth baseball team we missed was McCracken County McCracken Comy,
and the softball is actually playing right now in Henderson
County is leading Scott County eight to two.

Speaker 4 (36:00):
Look at you up, you're getting these on your phone.

Speaker 7 (36:04):
Yeah, you know, we could save ten thousand dollars at
ks bar and take down that tracker and just have
Ryan update us, you know, exact right.

Speaker 4 (36:13):
Who's next? Ben is up next? Ben? Go ahead?

Speaker 3 (36:17):
Ben?

Speaker 9 (36:19):
Hey? What's up, guys?

Speaker 12 (36:20):
How are y'all today?

Speaker 5 (36:22):
Good?

Speaker 4 (36:22):
What's going on?

Speaker 5 (36:24):
Hey?

Speaker 3 (36:25):
Man?

Speaker 12 (36:25):
I just I really thought that video of Jasper Johnson's
that I saw online was really funny of him juggling
three basketballs, and I was just wondering which one of
you guys would learn to juggle the quickest.

Speaker 4 (36:37):
I can't juggle. I don't need to learn.

Speaker 3 (36:39):
I can't juggle basketballs, but I can juggle tennis balls. Uh,
you've seen me doing. I'm not I'm not like great,
but I can do it. But basketballs, I guess I
could learn. If you can learn tennis balls, you can learn.
But have you seen that video Jason Johnson, He's.

Speaker 7 (36:55):
Like, I want to see you juggle. I'm gonna go
get these three chocolate chip cookies. I'll let you juggle though.

Speaker 3 (37:00):
Yeah, I'm still they have to everything has to be
the same, like it needs to be that in order
for me to do it.

Speaker 4 (37:05):
I'll juggle these knives.

Speaker 12 (37:06):
Here, Money's and Drew Drew could do it.

Speaker 4 (37:10):
We mean your money's hang up on being Who's next?
I actually can joke Money's on Drew. He's in New York.
Who's next? Mac is up next?

Speaker 3 (37:20):
Mac?

Speaker 4 (37:20):
Go ahead?

Speaker 8 (37:21):
Mac Hey there? Yeah, just comment there. I am a
Kentucky fan, but I pull for all the Kentucky schools
and there where there's football, baseball, basketball when they're when
they're playing. But my passions are, uh in the college basketball.
When are they gonna go to six fouls and whenever
go to four quarters?

Speaker 5 (37:43):
Four quarters?

Speaker 3 (37:44):
Maybe this year, uh, certainly four quarters is gonna happen.
If it doesn't happen this year it will happen the
next year, but it's gonna happen.

Speaker 4 (37:51):
I wouldn't be shocked happens this year.

Speaker 3 (37:53):
Six fouls I think is unlikely, especially when they go
to four quarters. As far as uh cheering for a
little Well, all I can say, sir is you should
be ashamed. That's all I can say. But for the
rest of the teams in Kentucky, I'm with you. I
cheer for Murray moorehead uh Eastern Western Western most of
the time.

Speaker 4 (38:11):
All of the my I can't. I can't cheer for Louisville.

Speaker 8 (38:15):
Well, that's okay.

Speaker 4 (38:17):
For Bellerman like chair for Bellarmalding Trancy. I don't even
cheer for center, but can't cheer for Little.

Speaker 6 (38:25):
I guess we always had that debate Louisville and Cincinnati,
Louisville Tennessee at the concert, louis versus Tennessee or Louis
versus Duke.

Speaker 3 (38:32):
De pends on depends on the team, depends on the team,
Like it depends on do I like if like when
Kenny Payne. I think one year Kenny Payne maybe played
against Tennessee, and I cheered for Kenny Payne because Tessee
was good and Louisville was terrible, so I didn't want
Tennessee to win.

Speaker 4 (38:47):
So it depends on the circle when those two play.

Speaker 7 (38:50):
I don't know, though, Man Tennessee and Louisville. Can you
just hope that nobody wins.

Speaker 3 (38:54):
That's just in general, which hotball teams would end up
going to mars.

Speaker 4 (38:59):
Who's next?

Speaker 5 (39:00):
Adam is up next?

Speaker 4 (39:02):
Adam, go ahead at him.

Speaker 13 (39:05):
And Hew you guys. I just want to say Happy
birthday the United States Army. So finally what you all
do every day for us, and grateful that you all
do it. But Matt, I just want to ask a question.
Hooters and Bellot Hooters and since you hm and since
you've had your like, I guess you're toes in both

(39:26):
the restaurant business and the and the and the wrestling business.
I would just want to see what your what your
take was on that. And I appreciate you let me.

Speaker 3 (39:37):
I think that's a little bit the breast a restaurant,
a little bit different than they know.

Speaker 4 (39:42):
I appreciate the call the restaurant.

Speaker 3 (39:44):
I would say, I've been involved in with law and
a lot of different businesses, obviously with media on some
real estate.

Speaker 5 (39:54):
The two hardest businesses.

Speaker 3 (39:55):
I've ever been in to make money are restaurants and wrestling.
So if you're telling me you're trying to combine the two,
good luck.

Speaker 7 (40:03):
And mister spectacular bringing you a burger out.

Speaker 3 (40:05):
On States good luck man, tho the two hardest things
to make money on. You know, I think the problem
for Hooters is, like there's so many other options now.
When I was a kid, if you wanted wings, like
that was the one place. And now you got local
places like Chas Bar. You got people who like just
have little holes in the wall where they only do wings.

Speaker 4 (40:24):
You got wings stop.

Speaker 3 (40:25):
I think so, I I think that the uh, those
two things, I think it's gonna be hard. But uh
and plus you know, well we don't have to go
into detail, but I think Hooters makes it tough. Now
two people have more options Shanean even in that world
than they used to.

Speaker 4 (40:37):
So I just think it's hard.

Speaker 7 (40:39):
That's the one thing that's holding me back from investing
in Chee Cheese. You know, I could be a part
owner of Chea Cheese, but I'm afraid you know, Ellano
Paul's out there, it might ended up being better than
Chee Cheese would love.

Speaker 4 (40:48):
I think you. I would love for you to just
go all in on chee cheese.

Speaker 7 (40:51):
I feel like that is sure, doesn't seem very wise.

Speaker 3 (40:54):
That is your thing. One more real quick, who's next?
Matt is up next, Matt thirty seconds go.

Speaker 11 (41:01):
Okay, Hey guys, it's another beautiful day to meditate out
in the garden.

Speaker 8 (41:06):
And hymen.

Speaker 11 (41:08):
Wish Ryan Happy Father's Day weekend, and anybody else on
your stab Happy Father's Day.

Speaker 5 (41:17):

Speaker 10 (41:19):

Speaker 4 (41:21):
Yeah, they're great.

Speaker 11 (41:22):
They're phenomenal.

Speaker 4 (41:23):
And go for It's very nice of you. Thank you
for your call.

Speaker 3 (41:26):
By the way, I've been I've been referencing meditating in
the garden ever since then, and I appreciate it.

Speaker 4 (41:31):
A couple of things.

Speaker 3 (41:32):
First of all, Happy Father's Day to Larry eighty eight
years old. I hope to see them Sunday or Monday.
Happy Father's Day. Nobody nicer in the world than Larry Blondell.
Happy two hundred and fiftieth birthday to the United States
Army for having us out here.

Speaker 4 (41:47):
Everybody enjoy it.

Speaker 3 (41:49):
So you know, say a thank you if you to
an Army person if you see them over the course
of the next weekend. And guys, you too, Ryan, have
a happy Father's Day.

Speaker 5 (41:59):
Is we all have great father's Happy Father's Day to
all of our dads.

Speaker 6 (42:02):
And I hope they'll get to see him. Well, I'm
gonna sehim next weekend. I don't know if I can
get to see this weekend or not. We'll supposed to go
to on a pontoon boat with my kids for Father's Day.
But if it's storms and I think I'm gonna go
