Speaker 4 (00:36):

(00:58):
It has been a big weekend of sports. It has
been insanely hot. Shandon, You're the only one that was
in Louille. I think it was the hottest place. I
would say, pits of hell, my hobby desert Louisville this
weekend in terms of heat, yep.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
And for all those people back in January when it
was three degrees going, I can't wait for summer terror,
you got your wish.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
I saw a map that said that on Saturday, Louisville
was the second hottest major city in America. Really yeah,
I don't know if it's just because it was against
the water or what.

Speaker 5 (01:34):
Now.

Speaker 4 (01:35):
I was walking it. Dumb decision. I had fun. I
mean it was good for me, but dumb decision. I
walked sixteen miles.

Speaker 6 (01:43):
Oh my good heat this weekend.

Speaker 5 (01:46):
Saturday on purpose.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
Well, I'd planned it without looking at the weather, Like
I planned it like Monday. I knew I had the
day off, and I was like, I'm gonna do and
I even figured out what my route was going to be.
And then Friday, I saw like what the weather was,
and I thought, okay, we're suntan lotion.

Speaker 5 (02:04):
It's gonna be right.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
Start earlier in the morning, start at nine. Still almost
fell over, so I Shanton. Just I'll give you the route, okay,
all right, my house up to Douglas Loop, Okay, over
to like U of L, you know, past Bellerman, over
to U of Light, down to the waterfront, waterfront, all

(02:27):
the way out River Road, turn onto Frankfurt Avenue, Frankfort Avenue,
back to my house.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
What were you doing? What was going on that you
wanted to take sixteen?

Speaker 5 (02:37):
I just wanted to spend. I just wanted to I
was like, I'm gonna do it, Drew leisurely. Okay.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
So this wasn't for charity or anything. No, there was
no one cheering me on, right, was gonna be cha.
I was like, I'll go and then you know, I'll
stop it a high breakfast somewhere and then you know,
you'll get somewhere else and go to a bookstore and
then somewhere else for lunch, and then you know that
kind of thing. And it was all I was actually
kind of talking trash to myself, Ryan, like, see, people

(03:05):
think you can't do this heat. And then I got
on River Road. Shannon, you know there's no shade.

Speaker 5 (03:12):
On River Road.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
I'm aware, and it's.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
Down there next to the river. So that heat just
collapses on it, And there was a moment I said, well,
might have to call Neuber to get home from here,
but I made myself do it. The walk up Frankfort
Avenue was hard and then we got home. But I
was it was twenty seven thousand steps.

Speaker 6 (03:33):
They issue heat advisories for a reason.

Speaker 5 (03:36):
Yeah, I knew it was hot.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
They didn't even tell me you picked the hottest day
of the year to go on a second.

Speaker 4 (03:40):
That the advisor didn't bother me. I could tell what
it was like. Did you take proper steps? Did you
hydrate before t shirt? I did a pretty good job hydrating.

Speaker 6 (03:53):
I did along the way.

Speaker 5 (03:55):
Yeah, yeah, I.

Speaker 4 (03:56):
Would stop somewhere have a have a lemonade. I got
a cookie. Oh it's good.

Speaker 7 (04:02):
You just see marathon runners stop and get a cookie
to eliminade.

Speaker 6 (04:06):
But most of the countries under a heat advisory for
the next couple of days.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
For the next week. I didn't know.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
I get my mail yesterday, I was down. I only
did like seventeen hundred stuff. It was so much more.
It was much worse not doing anything day but to
the front end of the weekend.

Speaker 5 (04:21):
But I did enjoy it.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
The city of Louisville was in like it felt like
a very happy mood in terms of there was There
were like multiple festivals. They had the Pride Festival, they
had the Juneteenth Festival. There was like an art festival.
So everybody was out. But most people I don't think
stayed out as much as I did. Ryan, But there
were a lot of people out.

Speaker 6 (04:40):
They go out in the morning to their festival. Noon,
I'm back home. I'm going home. I'm not fighting this
heat anymore.

Speaker 5 (04:45):
Yeah, a lot of people.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
I think there was like like at the Pride Festival,
I think people had pride, but only enough until they
started floating shann and then they were like, that's plenty
of pride. Now it's time to go back inside an hour.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
Pride is probably enough on a day.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
Like that, you know, yes, But then I watch my
Reds collapse. Yes, Cardinals on Saturday, that was the worst.

Speaker 5 (05:06):
But Ellie Day La Cruz puked and then hit home run.

Speaker 6 (05:10):
Why not made well?

Speaker 5 (05:12):
He was in in that heat too. Yeah, they were
in Saint Louis.

Speaker 4 (05:15):
That baseball stadium can get very as you know, can
get very hot.

Speaker 6 (05:18):
Oh yeah, we were watching the game and those guys
I couldn't believe they were.

Speaker 5 (05:20):
Then it was.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
Wild and so he pukes and what do they call it?
Shannon puke and rally? Is that what it is? He
rallied and then hit a home run. I thought that
was pretty impressive.

Speaker 7 (05:33):
I noticed as they got exhausted, they would run over
the dugout for eliminading a cookie so they could get
back out there and get back to being athletes.

Speaker 5 (05:41):
Are you mocking the eliminade and a cookie? It's a choice.
I like it. No, it was fun.

Speaker 7 (05:44):
I kept up with your All series too. I don't
know if you all were doing it to one.

Speaker 5 (05:48):
Saturday was the bad one? Five two in the eighth
we blow it? You all win.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
I came back now. Of course the Yankees are this week. Yes,
sold my tickets for tonight, huge, huge money.

Speaker 6 (06:01):
So they'll probably have a big crowd even though they.

Speaker 5 (06:04):
Yeah, tonight, it'll be huge. Aaron Judge ate at Jeff
Rubies last night. Team that's the whole team.

Speaker 4 (06:09):
Aaron Judge took the whole Yankees team to Jeff Rubies
on him. Jeff, being the subtle guy that he is,
did put it out on Twitter.

Speaker 5 (06:18):
No jets, he doesn't like the publicity.

Speaker 4 (06:19):
No Aaron Judge brings the Yankees and he doesn't want camera.

Speaker 5 (06:25):
It was interesting he ended up in the picture. That
was weird to me too.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
I would like to bend the server because you imagine
those tips.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
I think about what that tip would be. First of all,
how much do you think it cost to take the
whole team Yankees?

Speaker 5 (06:38):
Ruby? I see twenty eight man roster.

Speaker 4 (06:41):
They said Aaron Boom pay for the coaching staff, so
he just had to pay for the twenty eight players
on the team.

Speaker 5 (06:47):
How much is that meal? Are they?

Speaker 4 (06:49):
Are they drinking? Probably not drinking, Probably not a lot.
They played it, Hey, so you think thousand dollars? Yeah,
you're still about two hundred ahead. I would think at
least drink hundred ahead. So you think only like five
to seven thousand dollars? Yeah, paying Shannon, I'm getting I'm
getting extra shrip.

Speaker 6 (07:08):
Yeah they got wagou though that pile it on that
mac and cheese with the lobster in it, that costs
like thirty dollars. I'm getting that.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
So sold today and good thank you to whoever paid
for him. You just got me a nice little trip
then to tomorrow. I was gonna sell, but the other
if you look at the last ten years of UH
or at least five years of Reds Baseball, Ellie was

(07:36):
the number one. But the number two is this pitcher
pitching Tuesday Night making his debut.

Speaker 5 (07:41):
Oh really, Chase Burns.

Speaker 4 (07:43):
Okay, he's the He's probably the biggest pitching prospect they've
had since Hudner Green. He debuts against so I think
about that they dare debut him against the Yankees.

Speaker 5 (07:55):
Hey, kid, glad to have you up here. Good luck.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
I feel like you got to be I was there
for Ali's first night, McLean's first night.

Speaker 5 (08:04):
I feel like I got to be there for Chase
Burn's first night. Yeah, you gotta go see one of
the Yankees games.

Speaker 7 (08:08):
I get making a little bit of profit on on
the first one, but catch one of them, certainly if
it's got one of your your future talents.

Speaker 5 (08:15):
If you were a manager, though, would you throw him
in his first game?

Speaker 3 (08:19):
Yankees strategy?

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Because if you can go out there as a you know,
a rookie and not be intimidated by pitching against the Yankees,
then you can go against anybody.

Speaker 5 (08:27):
Yeah, I think.

Speaker 4 (08:28):
That's probably fair, but it's a that's a that's a
quite a stage to go put him on.

Speaker 6 (08:34):
I think a lot of managers would do the tiptoe method.
We're gonna throw you against the Diamondbacks on a Wednesday night,
you know, with the Rockies team.

Speaker 4 (08:44):
Maybe you went up and said, give me the Yanks,
give me the Yankees. Hey, Aaron Judge, you want this
gotta start against somebody. Why not go out with the Banks?
You start off with the Yankees.

Speaker 6 (08:52):
He should go and say, at least you saw Aaron
Judge play at least one time. That's kind of cool.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
No, I just I think you meantime, it's exciting when
there's a dude I've been hearing about, like, well, they
drafted him, like he was the second pick in the
draft two years ago.

Speaker 5 (09:04):
You've been hearing about him for two years.

Speaker 4 (09:06):
He Burns Burns Burns, Yes, Chase Burns second picking the draft.

Speaker 5 (09:11):
So you gotta go give him.

Speaker 6 (09:13):
A shot shot he does against the Yankees lining b.

Speaker 5 (09:16):
Second, like with Paul Skeins in him, was it really?
I think?

Speaker 4 (09:19):
So being such a big game with his debut and
then it being the Yankees. What kind of book do
you pull out for that?

Speaker 6 (09:23):
One?

Speaker 5 (09:24):
Is that this may be a Sands book.

Speaker 4 (09:27):
No book, no book, now I might still take a bag,
might still take a New Yorker, just just in between innings.

Speaker 5 (09:37):
There's a lot of downs.

Speaker 6 (09:38):
Does your seat generally have shade?

Speaker 4 (09:40):
No, Well, I mean it'll be nightgame during the day,
like I went on June teenth, brutal wo right in
the sun. Not you don't even get an inning of break.
It is right in the sun. You know. Over the years,
I've told you about the two bald brothers, twins.

Speaker 5 (09:56):
That sit to the right of me. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (09:59):
Shit, And I I didn't bring it up because I
was a little worried. I hadn't seen them in a
game all year, and I thought, either they haven't renewed
their tickets or I mean they're at.

Speaker 5 (10:08):
The age and you're like, well, I hope it's okay.
Life happens.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
You do not remember they were born together, they die together.

Speaker 5 (10:16):
Well, the thing is, I've had tickets for five years.
They've been there.

Speaker 4 (10:21):
We've never spoken. Remember they sit directly to my right,
one row in front. Never spoken, But I feel like
they're part.

Speaker 5 (10:29):
Of my family.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
They're the only people that I see there all the time,
two brothers. They don't speak to each other. They sit
in dead silence, watch the game together. They look exactly
alike and they never speak, but I feel like it's
almost drew some comfort that they're there. We go through
the first month and a half the season, I haven't

(10:52):
seen them, and I was sitting there thinking, you know,
if they're dead, I wouldn't even know, and it would
make me sad. Game week last week, there they were,
and I wanted to give them a hug. And then
I realized, Shannon, they don't know me, and so they
don't feel the same connection to me that I feel.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
To this I feel like you should at least go
up and speak to them now that you know they're
still alive.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
He glad to see you're still here with us.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
You know, it's great to have you back here after
I thought maybe you were gone.

Speaker 7 (11:23):
No, they were just tired of the rents. The summer
of Elie was done for them for a while.

Speaker 6 (11:26):
Back waited till the heat advisory, like, now let's go
to the game.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
Maybe there are those tickets, you know, making some money
like you did last thing.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
I also was in this weekend or this more of
a social mood, you know, normally we're we're so busy
during the week, and we talked so much like on weekends,
I don't I kind of specific Ta's not playing like
I don't really want it interact, but I decided if
I was gonna walk, I was gonna do all this.
We interact with people, right, So if I saw you

(11:53):
in Louisville and you had a Kentucky shirt or hat on,
I would make conversation.

Speaker 6 (12:01):
Okay, it's give him a go cats. Would you talk
to him?

Speaker 4 (12:03):
I might just say, you know, yeah, I might say
go Cats, or then just start a conversation if they
wanted to, then we did whatever. A couple of times
they knew who I was. Sometimes they didn't. Here was
the universal thing. I probably talked to twenty people over
the course of the weekend. Twenty and oh on opinions

(12:27):
number one, everyone thinks we're like winning the national championship
this year. I don't know if Mark Pope realizes, but
he has created an atmosphere of we're gonna be really
good this year, Drew, the optimism for basketball is through
the roof.

Speaker 5 (12:45):
With my twenty random Kentucky fans.

Speaker 7 (12:48):
Yeah, I think that kind of speaks for the whole
fan base, even though we're only getting tiny snippets of
these summer workouts. People are so fired up right now.
They've done the couple of the satellite camps and even
just watching them, you know, basically do nothing at those, cancling,
interact with kids. It's getting the fans that are going
to those so fired up.

Speaker 4 (13:03):
I didn't take his picture, but I saw the diversity
of UK fans when I walked by the Pride thing
and there was a guy wearing the rainbow eest of
short shorts and a T shirt that said Pope is Dope.
That's how I knew that they were. But then the
second thing, they all thought, everyone thinks we're going oh

(13:25):
to twelve and foot Now, I mean not like, oh,
are we gonna be good? I'm worried about football a
we stink? Ryan the two viewpoints, I've never seen it
this maybe since what Joker and col you know that

(13:49):
was first year or two of Cow and then Joker.
I've never seen it. Everybody was just like, we are
gonna be awful, and out of the twenty people, two
of the twenty can't the season ticket.

Speaker 6 (14:01):
Oh you know, it is kind of like a complete
polar opps. It's all the great optimism and now the
pessimism about football. I almost wish if the seasons were
flipped we had football. Second, honey, you have a great
basketball season to ease to worry of a bad football
season coming up.

Speaker 5 (14:15):
Finish on the bummer.

Speaker 6 (14:17):
Yeah, at least we have the you know, a great
basketball season. It's well a football struggling like, eh, none matter.
We still want to.

Speaker 5 (14:22):
I don't want that. I don't want that. I don't
want to end with a bummer. But I mean, it's
not a scientific study.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
It's twenty people I ran into at random cookie places
or restaurants or you know, coffee places. But the Kentucky
optimism for basketball through the roof pessimism for football down
the floor.

Speaker 7 (14:43):
It does feel like the old days. Stoops did a
great job of breaking out of this. But you know, Jared,
we complaining about all the time, like when madness hits,
the excitement already flips.

Speaker 5 (14:51):
We can already feel.

Speaker 4 (14:52):
It coming months months, way ahead of before you even
get to that point eight five nine, twenty two eighty seven.
Text machine is seven seven two seven seven before five
two five four? Do you share those two pieces of
optimism and pessimism and more including Ryan's pacers are out?
It's KSR you know, it didn't make me have more
respect for you shared it. I don't I couldn't do fifty.

(15:13):
Was it hot when you did it? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (15:14):
It was August. Yeah, but we couldn't did start at night,
so that you started at night. Yeah, it was almost
tougher because like the last ten fifteen miles was so hot.

Speaker 5 (15:25):
It was we did the show, it was very hot.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
We've already walked thirty five miles in this ninety degrees.

Speaker 4 (15:32):
Yeah, I have a lot of respect for you doing that.
Like I don't know how it started as a goofy
challenge and you did.

Speaker 5 (15:38):
It, and you you crushed it.

Speaker 4 (15:40):
So U text machine is seven seven two seven seventy
four five two five four one person? Right's mat? I
saw you walking downtown. I was going to say something,
but then I didn't. But way to go. You look
like you're in shape, better shape than it was, but not.

Speaker 6 (16:00):
Pretty impressive and never walked sixteen miles in that heat?

Speaker 5 (16:02):
Yeah, you know, you know, wow, whoa Okay, what was
that about?

Speaker 6 (16:10):
Just that's impressive age, It was impressive most men your age.

Speaker 5 (16:15):
Did you see Mario's face when you said that? He
knew that was rude? You could you could just see
what he what he did it.

Speaker 4 (16:22):
You know, over the years, I got it sheding a
funny message a woman I haven't talked to since we
dated in law school two thousand and two at Duke Wow.
She sent me a message on Facebook that said, my
best friend at work son is coming to play sports

(16:43):
at Kentucky. If you happen to meet him, please be
nice to him. His name is Jayalen Love. Okay, it's
coming to play sports sports at Kentucky. And I said,
I wrote her back, said, I bet I'll run into
him at some point.

Speaker 5 (17:03):
I'm pretty familiar with it. Yeah, he's probably gonna be
pretty good coming to play sports. It is a small
world situation. I'm smart.

Speaker 4 (17:10):
She's she works in Houston, Texas, works with her mom.
Haven't taught to her since two thousand and two. And
that's the conversation with Maybe this's this what brings you
all back together.

Speaker 5 (17:21):
She's married.

Speaker 6 (17:21):
I can't wait to watch.

Speaker 5 (17:24):
Hey if I'm nine to eight twenty twenty seven, are
you said about the Pacers?

Speaker 6 (17:28):
I mean, really, the best team won. OKAC was the
best team all year, but the Pacers, the run they
went on got everybody excited, especially for Pacers fans. Yeah,
Pacers fan, man, that was awesome. They were' supposed to
be Cleveland. The weren't supposed to be the nick they
were't spposed to compete against. Okayse he took it to
Game seven, and then your superstar gets hurt in the
first quarter. I mean, I was proud of the Pacers.

Speaker 4 (17:46):
When Haliburton makes that move and then they show it
and it's clearing tours Achilles. I'm not I don't even
I'm not even a Haliburton fan, but I felt bad
for it. It's a terrible way to go. It's not
just a terrible way to go, because I think Casey
was team. They were gonna win the series. I think
they were gonna win last night. But now he's probably
out next year, right, and so now you had all

(18:07):
this thing where probably the fans could have been so
excited going to the offseason either way, probably were the
favorites in the East next year, and then he's out
for the year.

Speaker 5 (18:15):
That stinks.

Speaker 7 (18:16):
Yeah, I was a neutral observer of that hurt watching
him go down in that slow mod replay, you could
even see it snap.

Speaker 5 (18:22):
I mean, we all knew what happened. You knew immediately. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (18:24):
Probably though, even though it was very in the game,
the way he started, I think he might have stolen
it from them in.

Speaker 4 (18:31):
Game seven, reach stop. See that's what they all get
to delude themselves. Oh, we would have won if you
weren't gonna win? Was better?

Speaker 2 (18:39):
Yea?

Speaker 5 (18:41):
The crowd to shut up?

Speaker 4 (18:42):
Yeah, and he also used some language that you should
not be using in a public zone. But okay, see
was gonna win. What about our guys, sga yep, okay
didn't start at cour besides Quad agree.

Speaker 6 (18:58):
Came here's a backup.

Speaker 4 (18:59):
And because only the fourth player in history to win
the MVP, win the scoring title, and win the championship
in the same year. The other ones, uh Wilt Kareem Abdulchabar,
Shaquille O'Neal, Michael Jordan and him, that's pretty good company.
Couldn't start over Kwade Green when you first got here.

Speaker 6 (19:19):
It's amazing. The year he had will go down one
of the best ever in NBA history. He just he
did everything and this short they're such a young team.
He's the old guy on the team. He drugged them
to the victory.

Speaker 4 (19:29):
And in case Wallace, who John Caliperry would not make
the point guard because we had Severe Wheeler on the team.
Starts is the fifth or sixth man for a championship team.
I mean, think about those two guys, what their careers
were when they started here, and now they're the two.

Speaker 5 (19:49):
That have a title.

Speaker 4 (19:50):
I'm not gonna say Shannon, that makes me frustrated and
Senior Caliperi, but it is also a testament to those guys.

Speaker 7 (19:57):
There are two big examples of the downside of the
one and done era where we just got a little
example of him at Kentucky and then they went on
to do greater things. Wallace had a great game last night,
had ten points off the bench. When they were pulling away,
he had his own little five oh run.

Speaker 6 (20:10):
Yep.

Speaker 7 (20:10):
Even though I'm pretty neutral in the NBA, I was
very excited both those guys got a ring. And now Shay,
I mean, he's he the best Kentucky player to ever
be in the NBA.

Speaker 5 (20:19):
We had this cup Sason last week.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
Right now, he's probably I just wanted to get to
but he it's like Isle Davis and him, that's like
the season that you can have. Yeah, he was unbelievable
and you know I did not. I think nobody saw
it coming what he's become. I didn't even really think
he'd be a star. So he's way exceeded my expectations.
I will say I was saying Ryan Casey Walsh has

(20:43):
been the point guard all year long. We'll look back
at that year and say they should have given the
ball to him, should have given the ball to him
because he he was always good, and he was always
that team's best player.

Speaker 6 (20:54):
And the a couple of times he got the playpoint
guard a Kentucky like when Severe was out, the.

Speaker 5 (20:58):
Nbury were good, really good, and then he went right back.

Speaker 4 (21:01):
And this isn't a criticism to Severe, but Cayson Wallas
is an NB, a really good player, and they just
wouldn't do it here.

Speaker 6 (21:09):
You know, he had some big steals. He's become a
good defender.

Speaker 5 (21:12):
He was a good defender here. That was the one
thing he could do was guard.

Speaker 3 (21:16):
So I think there's a good chance.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
We had the same conversation when Ree Shepperd wins a
championship with Houston, We're gonna get off.

Speaker 5 (21:24):
He couldn't. He couldn't even play. It's very frustrating. Jonathan,
go ahead, Jonathan.

Speaker 8 (21:32):
Hey man.

Speaker 5 (21:32):
Good, what's up?

Speaker 9 (21:35):
Hey?

Speaker 10 (21:35):
I have a conspiracy theory about Vince Marrow. I think
him and Mark are still good friends. And I think
what's gonna happen this year is, uh, he's gonna tank Louisville.
And I think at the uk U of L game,

(21:57):
they roll out a wooden horse at halftime and him
and Kenny Payton jump out, and I wish that was true.

Speaker 4 (22:04):
I think he's all in. I watched the press conference.
I appreciate the call.

Speaker 5 (22:08):
He's all in. He's already calling us the school down
the road.

Speaker 4 (22:13):
He worked, He fixed his l too. He's mixed us
L said, I've been working on it. I keep getting
pictures of him at Jeff Ruby's. A man's eating there
every night. Listen, Vince there. There are other restaurants, like
louis was a good food city.

Speaker 6 (22:27):
Maybe you should take him out and show them some
different restaurants.

Speaker 4 (22:29):
Yeah, I'm sure I'll see him sometime, but I think
right now, I think the louisvilleople probably are like, hey,
just you don't need to be a pictured Matt anytime soon.
I thought it might have been on your walk with you. No,
I almost walked by Jeff Rubies almost was like, let's
go see if he's in there.

Speaker 6 (22:44):
He probably was. He's pretty high.

Speaker 5 (22:46):
He probably was. But no, he's he's all in on
them now.

Speaker 4 (22:49):
And we had the d commitment right, Yes, we had
our number one player who he had brought de committed.
You got to think he probably ends up over there.

Speaker 6 (22:56):
I think so.

Speaker 5 (22:57):
So that's the way it goes. We'll take a break.
Be right back KSR. TJ. Smith personal injury attorney called TJ.

(23:33):
have you seen? Speaking of all the heat, have you
seen the Europeans all melting here? Have you seen these videos?

Speaker 6 (23:40):
Europeans are melting well, I.

Speaker 4 (23:42):
Don't know, like completely but there's a there's a big
soccer tournament in America right now.

Speaker 5 (23:47):
The FIFA were a Club World Cup.

Speaker 4 (23:50):
Okay, so all the teams that won Shennon, all the
various leagues in the in the world are here playing
each other right now. Some of the games are in Cincinnati,
we're in Nashville, but everybody. But there's been a bunch
of upsets. The teams from South America have been beating
the teams from Europe, even though the teams from Europe

(24:11):
are better, and it's making the Europeans mad. But it's
because it's so hot, and it's the Europeans can't handle it.

Speaker 3 (24:20):
Does it not get hot in Europe?

Speaker 5 (24:22):
Been not like it does here?

Speaker 4 (24:23):
No, I mean it's a different level of hot here,
especially you know in Spain and Germany excuse Spain and Greece,
it can get pretty hot, but when you get to
England and Germany, it doesn't get as hot as it
does here. So there was a German team playing in
Cincinnati and they had their bench sit in the locker
room during the first half because they said it was
too hot shaded for them to sit on the bench.

Speaker 5 (24:45):
I'm not kidding. Look it up.

Speaker 4 (24:46):
This Dortmund team, they are in Cincinnati and they're if
you read the newspapers in Germany, they're complaining because they
play again in Cincinnati Wednesday, and they're like, I can't
do it?

Speaker 5 (24:58):
Can I do it? He may do a German accent.
Too hot, it was very good.

Speaker 2 (25:03):
A bunch of whimps is too hot, Yeah, and we don't.

Speaker 5 (25:08):
Didn't like it.

Speaker 2 (25:10):
They're good, They're lucky we didn't have it in Arizona
in trouble.

Speaker 4 (25:14):
And then like the English teams, they played somewhere and
it was eighty five degrees and they were complaining it
was intolerable at eighty five.

Speaker 6 (25:23):
The South American guys on their side last, and.

Speaker 4 (25:25):
The South American guys are playing great and they're beating
them because Drew they're not as hot as the Europeans.

Speaker 5 (25:31):
So they're like, what Cincinnati, come to Rio. It's a
little different.

Speaker 7 (25:35):
I saw a video of a fan. I think he
might have been down in Florida. He was somewhere in
America complaining about the heat. But he had the temperature
that they'll, you know, automatically put on a video and
it said like seventy eight.

Speaker 5 (25:44):
Yeah, he was going crazy. Ain't gonna make it.

Speaker 4 (25:47):
There's a game in Nashville where one of the British
teams was playing, and all these pale Bricks were like,
you know, and I think it's kind of funny why
them all be upset? But the German team stuck in Cincinnati,
they are so angry right now.

Speaker 6 (26:05):
What a bunch of whims. Go to the dugout, go
into the locker room for the half, don't even watch
your team because you're two hotson on the bench. What
a bunch of whims.

Speaker 4 (26:12):
The draft, by the way, is Wednesday. It's almost hyah.
Do you don't realize that the NBA Draft is Wednesday?

Speaker 6 (26:17):
Well they plugged it enough for the last couple of
days on the NBA playoffs.

Speaker 5 (26:19):
So yeah, So who's getting drafted? Kobe Brea, Yeah, I do.

Speaker 6 (26:23):
It looks like he's going to be.

Speaker 5 (26:24):
He looks like he's gonna get drafted.

Speaker 6 (26:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (26:25):
I would be surprised if he's not drafted.

Speaker 4 (26:27):
I think he's gonna get drafted. Jackson Robinson. J Bill says, yes,
most of the mock drafts don't have him in it.
But Jay Bill says, I guarantee if somebody picks.

Speaker 7 (26:36):
It the way he said, it was such confidence, like
he know me if he had talked maybe wonder if
he had talked to a team or heard more than
because he is, like you said, in most of the
mocks he's not mentioned, but Billis was all about it.

Speaker 4 (26:46):
And then Amari Williams is kind of projected right at
the end. Yeah, I'm gonna say yes on Amari. You're
gonna say yes on Omar's going to the Knicks. So
Bray is everybody yes, yes, yes, Amari, You're gonna say yes, yes, Yes,
I say yes. I'm gonna say no. But it's because
I'm gonna say yes on Jackson Robinson because J Billis

(27:06):
is way.

Speaker 5 (27:06):
Too confident about it. What are you gonna say?

Speaker 6 (27:08):
I'm gonna say yes because I feel like if Jackson
Robinson hadn't gotten hurt, he would have gotten drafted. So
I think they're gonna draft him on that.

Speaker 5 (27:14):
I will fade J Billis and say no. So look
in the camera, tell him, Jay Billis, he's wrong, Jay Billis,
You're wrong, You're wrong. Often, Oh wow, that was hard, Shannon.
You going with your friend Jay Billis? Are you going
now on your own?

Speaker 9 (27:28):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (27:28):
My bff J Billis he knows his basketball. I'm gonna
say he's right, and Robinson does go, so I got
all three going, So.

Speaker 4 (27:35):
I say you get all three. The reason I bring
this up, let's say we get all three. Arkansas is
only good get one. Yeah, dude's gonna get drafted, sure,
which I count him as us. Anyway, we're getting four.

Speaker 5 (27:47):
They're getting zero, so really we're getting four.

Speaker 4 (27:49):
It would be I mean, it will be a height
of irony if Mark Pope gets more people drafted in
his first year than John cal Pierry. That is something
that no one on earth will have predicted. No one
would have predicted that.

Speaker 9 (28:02):
Men.

Speaker 7 (28:03):
Uh not that there was a ton of complaining about
Pope last year after that press conference in the excitement,
but one of the big negatives was like, well, the
NBA Draft won't matter anymore. We won't have guys to
fall in the NBA. Nobody will get picked. And here
we are with more Kentucky players to talking about that Arkansas.

Speaker 4 (28:17):
Could I have gotten on more Kentucky players get get
picked than Arkansas.

Speaker 6 (28:21):
That's when Arkansas had Boogie Flann going into the season.

Speaker 4 (28:24):
He will be playing, Uh the Trayvon Brazil guy. You
had Johnny Davis that he he said what he would
get him drafted a dude, big Z, Carter Knox.

Speaker 5 (28:35):
Carter Knox, d J Wattens.

Speaker 4 (28:39):
And they had eight potential guys to get drafted, and
he may end up with one, and we may end
up with three.

Speaker 6 (28:46):
And Brian may get drafted before a do even that
dude probably.

Speaker 5 (28:50):
Goes before him. But what if Braya gets drafted.

Speaker 4 (28:52):
Before It doing to be close that some of the
Knox right next to a dude at the beginning of
the second round.

Speaker 7 (29:01):
I mean, no one expected this. And heck next recruiting class,
Pope might end up with more five stars and high
rated players than Calen the in the twenty twenty sixth class.

Speaker 2 (29:09):
Who's doing well there gonna be the greatest of two things.

Speaker 4 (29:12):
The grandest Night one player. The person writes Matt that
German accent may be your best one. You should do
it more. It's hard to do that one.

Speaker 5 (29:20):
It does seem like it takes a lot of energy.
You got very red.

Speaker 6 (29:23):
You're a better Wukosh accent than.

Speaker 5 (29:26):
You know well.

Speaker 7 (29:27):
On the interrupted by Matt Jones show, a few weeks ago,
you debuted in Australian one.

Speaker 4 (29:31):
I had never heard of French one French. Very good,
Bob and Jamestown.

Speaker 9 (29:37):
Go ahead, Bob, there's a big weekend in Russell County.
My friend Pam and Terry Stevens, Kentucky Derby horse Chunk
of Gold came in play second in the Ohio Derby.
And then Mark Pope.

Speaker 5 (29:53):
Big weekend Russell County.

Speaker 9 (29:56):
Oh yeah, Mark Pope came down. I mean it was awesome.
He brought the team down, opened it up the gym
and uh Russell Springs there for everybody, all the fans,
the children, I mean, everybody had a ball.

Speaker 4 (30:12):
I saw a lot of those videos and I appreciate
the call, Bob. I saw a lot of videos of
the UK player. You know, they went to Russell County
and to London. They went to the two places most
hit by the tornado, and I had people write me
who went.

Speaker 5 (30:27):
I saw the videos. They ended up, they did the camp,
but then I think they just opened the doors and
let people come and get pictures and autographs. And I
heard universal praise, obviously from Mark, but also how good
the players were. Jade and Quainton's especially, I just had
people say seemed like the nicest kid in the world.
I have people all weekend on the text machine. We're

(30:48):
sending pictures of their kids with the various players. You know,
that's that's what you want. I mean, like, look, what
an awesome thing for them to do this weekend in
two places that I think it was really appreciated.

Speaker 6 (30:59):
Yeah, to reach out to these areas that needed a
little boost, a little something to make him feel good
about what's happened recently. So yeah, very good honor. And
this is the summers when you start hearing them about
some of the player's personality about this time, I feared
Kurk Crease is the guy that was everybody was talking about,
was very personable. So it's good hear about Jaden Quaytons
because I knew really nothing about him outside of his
basketball ability.

Speaker 7 (31:18):
A guy on Chaos Board was at the one in
Russell County and he was kind of doing updates throughout
and he was talking about how close the team is,
like they're all buddies and cutting up. Already looked very close.
But the thing that stood out, he said, this is
already Modiabouta's team. He said, when he speaks, everyone listens
and him and O Way, it's very clear they're already leading.

Speaker 5 (31:37):
Yeah, he was a leader in Alabama too, So.

Speaker 6 (31:39):
I told you that. Remember when you interviewed him, he
said he is the leader in the locker room. He's
the one everybody gravitates towards. He's the guy that's good.

Speaker 7 (31:46):
There was one negative though. I think this one happened
at North Laurels Camp. Brandon Garrison lost in knockout to
a nine year old.

Speaker 5 (31:52):
Oh no, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (31:55):
What that means in the future, but we can't be
losing a nine year.

Speaker 3 (31:58):
Old starting anymore.

Speaker 4 (32:00):
After hearing that story, it's not gonna start, all right, No, Cody,
go ahead, Cody.

Speaker 11 (32:07):
Hey, Matt, I had a basketball and a football question
for you. Okay, I'll start with basketball. I think a
lot of the fan base is at least optimistic in
US winning a championship and say the next five years,
we can at least agree it's possible. So what advice
would you have for Pope that he doesn't do what
Cal does and wins a championship early, but then goes

(32:27):
another decade without anything. And then my football question is
is it really all that bad if we kind of
fall apart this year, not fall apart, but have the
season we're expecting, and that forces Mitch to make a
higher because.

Speaker 5 (32:42):
The last that's a great ques.

Speaker 11 (32:43):
Three of his hires have been red hot.

Speaker 4 (32:45):
Both of their both of their questions are good. So
let's start with the basketball. Obviously, I want I appreciate
the call you can't titles don't grow on trees.

Speaker 5 (32:53):
Win it.

Speaker 4 (32:54):
You know, did it hurt Tubby? Did he want a
title in his first year and that was the expectation.

Speaker 5 (32:58):
Sure? But guess what he won a title?

Speaker 11 (33:00):
Right?

Speaker 4 (33:01):
Did it hurt cow that they were so good the
first few years? Maybe, but he fell apart with or without.

Speaker 5 (33:07):
Those early titles. Win if you have a chance.

Speaker 4 (33:10):
As I always hear people say in other sports, the
amount of time you have to win a title is small.

Speaker 5 (33:14):
When you get it, you gotta take advantage of it.

Speaker 4 (33:17):
Second thing is in football, I want this team to
win six games, seven, whatever, but six specifically, I want
to see a make a ball. I'd like to see
Mark Stoops work here. If it's not gonna work, If
the six wins are not gonna come and it's seven,
then I'd rather it be three or four. I want
it to be an easy. The worst scenario for Kentucky

(33:38):
is five and seven. Yeah, that's the worst scenario. That's
enough success to convince them to keep going. And I
know five and seven doesn't sound successful, but you probably
to do that. Have a good win, gotta beat somebody there,
they're gonna beat somebody good. If you've gone five and seven,
you improved from last year. You improved from last year.
But the fans will not be one over at five

(33:59):
and seven. So the worst record you can have is
five and seven. That's the worst. It's kind of like
cows last year. I didn't want us to lose to Oakland.
I wanted us to go to the Final four. But
what would have been worse would have been beating Oakland
and losing the n C State in the second game,
because you could have talked yourself into what NC statement

(34:20):
made the final four and we would have been right
back floating to where we were. By losing to Oakland,
it made it clear what needed to happen. That's how
I am this year. Number one. I want us to
win six. I want Mark to succeed. I want it
to crush it. But if that's not gonna happen, then
I'd rather it be three or four than five, because

(34:42):
five is no man's land.

Speaker 5 (34:44):
Do you agree? Oh yeah, just make it obvious. I
hope it goes well.

Speaker 7 (34:47):
Heck, you know, I have as many stoops frustrations as
everyone else. I fire off my own motivated jokes about
once a week, but I really want them to do well.
But if it's not gonna end well and you're not
gonna get to a Bowl game, just rip the band
aid off and make it ugly. So it's a clear decision.

Speaker 6 (35:02):
The whole buy out thing we talked about last week, though,
I think makes it a little more tougher decision for
Mitch than we realized. I didn't realize that's what it was.
It was laid out.

Speaker 4 (35:09):
Yeah, but there may come a point maybe you have
to that you you have to a five nine, two eight,
twenty two eighty seven. We're gonna pick our place that
were our next place to go in the game that
I've created. Okay, good, So I'll tell you about the
game and all of that, but we'll be right back
to Scissar.

Speaker 5 (35:28):
Good song choice, Shannon Lynn l e n Right.

Speaker 3 (35:32):
I'm surprised you know that one one wonder from the Nightties.

Speaker 4 (35:34):
I remember, I loved it. Steal my sunjiint Yeah, I
remember this is when I was in college. If I'm
nine two twenty two eighty seven. Speaking of places, it
was hot college World Series. Hot on the field, also
hot with the manager, Yes it was. Manager comes out, goes, hey, man,
what's happening over here? Next thing you know, he's kicked out.

(35:56):
One of his uh chubby friends falls over. Then the
first base coach gets kicked out. Then it's two game suspension.
Everybody loses their mind. First of all, shitt he had
gotten kicked out.

Speaker 6 (36:08):
I don't know what he said, But if he said
one of the magic words, that's that's why I show
what happened.

Speaker 5 (36:12):
Can't kick him out? Second game of World Series, the
first first inning. Can't kick him out?

Speaker 6 (36:16):
What if he says one of the magic words?

Speaker 5 (36:17):
I don't care how much times did he say it? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (36:19):
Yeah, First of all, I looked at his lips. I
didn't see a magic word. Okay, but let's say he did.

Speaker 5 (36:25):
You eat it? It's first inning.

Speaker 6 (36:27):
I read online that somebody thought it was he wanted
to get kicked out to motivate his team.

Speaker 4 (36:31):
He clearly based on the comments after I don't know
where you saw that, they're not kicking you out in
the fire.

Speaker 5 (36:37):
Score was one to nothing. Yeah, shit, and he did
not do it on purpose.

Speaker 4 (36:41):
And then the one guy walks over there falls down, yeah,
and then get it and blames the first of all
that he fell in his own.

Speaker 3 (36:49):
He did absolutely completely fell in his own and then
game suspension.

Speaker 5 (36:53):
Gave me two games suspension because he said he bumped up.
That's on his own way that you cannot help that
chubby little ump can't keep his.

Speaker 2 (37:01):
Balance, his poor form on the umpires. You gotta have
some restraint. It's usually first inning championship.

Speaker 5 (37:09):
College World Series championship.

Speaker 3 (37:11):
As the umpire. You have to take it a little
bit there, you.

Speaker 4 (37:14):
Know, yes, And apparently he was only asking what was
the warning for. He wasn't even arguing. And then when
he was like he the manager was a little in
his post, came Prescott's.

Speaker 5 (37:27):
He's like, he looked at me and showed a grown man.

Speaker 4 (37:29):
You can't show a grown man, well, okay, slow down,
grown man like maybe he just didn't want to talk
to you anyway. You can't kick him out, can't keep
these the groups of people in society that have the
highest opinions of themselves versus least ability to hear a
different opinion.

Speaker 5 (37:50):
Are college coaches and referees and then you put them in.

Speaker 6 (37:54):
The same place recipe for disaster.

Speaker 5 (37:58):
It is just little man syndrome.

Speaker 4 (38:01):
And the question is who gets to be the littlest man,
And in this case, I think the umpire was a
littler man.

Speaker 5 (38:07):
Than the manager. The ump was by far the smallest man.

Speaker 4 (38:11):
I did enjoy the manager after the game saying I
can't be responsible for another grown man's athleticism.

Speaker 5 (38:17):
Talk about how it was funny. He's like, I didn't
bump him. It's problem he can't stand on his own
two feet.

Speaker 4 (38:23):
He goes, I always think you should take responsibility for
your actions, and I will, but I can't be responsible
for another grown man's athleticism.

Speaker 5 (38:32):
That was kind of fun.

Speaker 6 (38:33):
ESPN put it in slow motion. You see him fall
and fump, fumble and stumble around.

Speaker 3 (38:37):
The coach man like he did like a flip over backwards.

Speaker 5 (38:41):
Yeah, he was like fair flopping around on the ground. Yeah,
come on, man.

Speaker 7 (38:45):
The coach said it best with that, and he said
he was embarrassed because he fell down in front of
twenty five thousand people and he took it out on
me and that's what happened.

Speaker 5 (38:53):
That's exactly what happened. He was embarrassed.

Speaker 4 (38:56):
Plus there's a little bit of it's LSU and it's
Coastal care Carolina. Like I'm not saying help them, but
don't take away their manager right as soon as if
they're the Shanta clears.

Speaker 6 (39:09):
It was crazy that happened on right off the ball game.
That's why when it when it first happened, I saw
that online that he did that on purpose. He got
kicked out on purpose, no motivated.

Speaker 4 (39:16):
Team and it was only one to nothing like the
game had just started. There's no way that was on purpose.
That is these these umpires and referees, it is not
about you. The only person who makes themselves more about
something that's not about them is Stephen A. Smith at
the NBA Finals. But these reps these night, it's not

(39:37):
about you, man. It's about the teams and they insert
themselves and it's that's what happens. Greg, go ahead, Greg.

Speaker 12 (39:46):
M Hey, guess I want to be about to make
mystic as anybody about this basketball season. But I remember
in the spring, all the top was that we desperately
needed one more suitor and we lost down on a
few guys.

Speaker 10 (40:00):
Did we ever get a shooter?

Speaker 12 (40:01):
And if we didn't, how's that going to impact this season?

Speaker 4 (40:04):
Well, I mean they ended up. It depends on whether
or not you think Aberdeen is a shooter. Right, So
when they wanted that shooter, that person that is, to
use the phrase, a shooter, they didn't get. They lost
the kid from sam Houston State that Ryan guaranteed was coming,
but then they got Aberdeen. Now is he The question
is just how good a shooter will he be? Well
he's not Kobe Brea and he's probably not even the

(40:28):
kid from sam Houston State, but he's good. So the
question is between Aberdeen, Chandler, Noah, Cam Williams, you know,
and all that, do you have guys good enough to shoot?
And we'll just have to wait and see. So I
appreciate the call. There is no Kobe Breya coming in,
but I do think they have ten guys that can

(40:48):
make a three.

Speaker 7 (40:49):
And we all wanted a shooter. We wanted someone you
think of as a true sniper, like Kobe Brea. But
part of that was also Kentucky fans just want an
absolute perfect roster.

Speaker 5 (40:58):
Yeah, we want every play. Yeah, I mean we were
already pretty set even before Aberdeen.

Speaker 4 (41:01):
Yeah, but it's like, oh, one more thing again, let's
get a yeah that shoots forty five. You didn't get
exactly that, but Aberdeen can shoot it. And then of
course he has other things he brings buffet, like eighty
percent of the food would be fine, but you want
all of it.

Speaker 5 (41:15):
We want the best of the best. We want all
of it. Liam, go ahead.

Speaker 8 (41:17):
Liam got some points optimism about Kentucky's football shockingly Okay,
in Calzada, you beat Alabama. I mean that's a good start.
He was the first game All Southland Conference QB. You
else was first team All set Offland Conference. Cam Ward
at Barney World, is that Calzada the next cam Ward?

Speaker 5 (41:38):
