Now here's Matt Jones.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
Well, welcome everyone.

Speaker 5 (00:37):
It is Kentucky Sports Radio, Monday, November the tenth.

Speaker 4 (00:41):
I'm Matt Jones here on a cold.

Speaker 5 (00:44):
Day in Lexington, Kentucky after a massive UK weekend. Five
and oh, the University of Kentucky goes in big games.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
Well pretty much every sport.

Speaker 5 (00:54):
Probably women's basketball was the only one that wasn't a
huge victory, but even they won big margin.

Speaker 4 (01:00):
You give us a shower on the Clarks Puppet Shop
phone nine eight.

Speaker 5 (01:02):
I'm nine two eighth twenty two eighty seven A Vision
Auto Glass text machine is seven seven to two seven
seven four five two five four In this dis responsored
by a TJ. Smith office called J TJ. He'll make
them pay, Ryan, I feel like I've been one continuous
radio show I've done. This is my seventh radio show
in seventy two hours.

Speaker 6 (01:21):
Oh my yes, wow.

Speaker 5 (01:23):
Uh well actually eighth from starting Friday morning to now
uh and now that this will be the last one
until tomorrow morning when we have a huge crowd in Louisville.

Speaker 6 (01:35):
But it does it go like a little faster when
they win for you, like I enjoy you sounded a
little excited Saturday night during the post game show.

Speaker 5 (01:46):
I was excited Saturday night for sure. Yeah, I'm excited
about all of them. Like it's a great it's it's fun.
It's just there's just a lot. And then you transfer
intoto NFL mode, which I feel like I'm the NFL.
I'm always really working because I don't really know much
about it, So, I mean that makes it a little different.
Like with Kentucky. You know, I can kind of do

(02:07):
that in my sleep, right, but when it comes to
the NFL, I'm working. I still don't know everybody's names.
That so Sundays do feel like work.

Speaker 7 (02:14):
Yeah, in the NFL agreement, I forgot about not having
a day off, so I'm doing the math on my
last day off. That's starting to stack up. But the
weekend was so fun. Care I can tough it out.

Speaker 5 (02:24):
Monday nights are kind of when I I've already told
the NFL I'm not watching Monday night football most of
the time.

Speaker 6 (02:30):
It's your me time.

Speaker 5 (02:31):
Yeah, it's it's the one time you have to not
do anything. But this is a great weekend. I mean,
just think about what Kentucky did. They went five to
zero and all impressive performances. I mean the basketball game
feels like a.

Speaker 6 (02:45):
Long time, It doesn't, but I.

Speaker 5 (02:46):
Mean that was a dominant basketball performance. You get to
see what happens when Kentucky has point guards on the
floor and they look great. Then you go in football,
we beat Florida, which I think is what we'll spend
a lot of the early part of the show talking about.
Then they won in women's basketball at Buffalo in a
game that I watched where Clara Strack is going to
be our next All American one day superstar. Maybe not

(03:08):
this year, but it's coming. Yeah, I mean she was excellent.
Then they won in men's soccer in the conference tournament.
I forgot we were in the Sun Belt. We won
in pks, we won in penalty kicks. We have a
British announcer. I gotta know who that guy. Who's our
British announcer.

Speaker 6 (03:23):
Uh, Cameron Mills. I don't know.

Speaker 5 (03:25):
It's not British. It's not British Cameron Mills. But we
have a there's a British guy who's the Kentucky announcer.
And I just want to know where they found that guy,
and why don't we use them on everything? First of all,
every I don't know why it is in soccer you
need a British announcer.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
It sounds better. Why does that?

Speaker 5 (03:42):
Why is that Shannon that it sounds better to have
a British announcer.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
I'm not sure, but I like a British accent, so.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
I did too. It's watching him.

Speaker 5 (03:48):
I was like, Oh, we're on the pitch, and even
though it's even though it's that same street on Alumni,
it felt like we were somewhere deep in the hills
of Ireland.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
Yeah they were wearing their kids. Yeah they had their.

Speaker 5 (03:59):
Kids, and I just all of a sudden was like
fish and Chips. I mean, one guy with a British
voice just changes everything. So whoever that guy is, I
like him. And then the volleyball team, of course one
you were there.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
That was awesome.

Speaker 5 (04:11):
Biggest biggest crowd for a volleyball game in Memorials since
nineteen eighty one.

Speaker 7 (04:16):
I think, yeah, that was wild. I got there. Match
started at five. I got there around three. Is had
to pop in El Mariachi next door. No, but I
mean the line was already down the block hour and
a half before the match. Because of general admission. People
went in good seats. People were in there so early.
Once I got in my seat, I was like, well,
I guess we got forty five minutes of looking at
each other. But it was it wasn't kind of packed.

(04:39):
All four corners of the top of Memorial were filled
and it was just fun energy throughout the whole thing.

Speaker 5 (04:45):
Yep, they won and you saw like Willis reed performance
from what what's her name? Eva Hudson. Yeah, she turned
her ankle and was like, I'm not coming out like
women's volleyball. Just for the record, women's volleyball is a
lot more of a g teel sport. I'll give you
two examples why we've always talked about it's the happiest sport. Yes,
they clap and they give each other high fives after

(05:07):
every play. No other sport is everybody just like yeah,
even if you lose, high five, high five.

Speaker 4 (05:14):
It is the It's the happiest sport.

Speaker 5 (05:16):
But the other thing is she got hurt in the
middle of a play and everybody just stopped the play
in the middle of it was like, all right, did
you notice that the point was going on? She turns
her ankle, they just stop it. Okay, hang on, let's
make sure she's all right. And then they just kept going.
They don't do that in any other stuff.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
There's no other.

Speaker 5 (05:35):
Sport where you're like, you're in the middle of the
play and everybody goes, hey, hey, stop, she's talking. It
was a big play too, Like it was like it
was a big play, like we were Tessy was on
kind of a roll and we got to stop, and then.

Speaker 4 (05:49):
She didn't even go out of the game. I just
thought that was a very genteel way to do it.

Speaker 7 (05:53):
That happened right in front of me. On my side,
I thought she was hurt bad I really did, and
then she stayed in. I even turned the next to me.
I was like, is it selfish when you have a
bum ankle to stay in if the buying person is,
you know, healthy. She immediately got to kill. I was like,
I'll shut up, never mind, she's back, She's all right.

Speaker 5 (06:09):
So uh so, congrats all that. But the big story
is football. Kentucky not only beats Florida, just beats him
down thirty eight to seven. As I said on the
postgame show, you do have to consider numbers here. Biggest
win over Florida since nineteen fifty okay.

Speaker 6 (06:24):
That matters, It does matter.

Speaker 5 (06:27):
Biggest win in an SEC game since nineteen ninety eight,
that matter, That matters. Biggest win over a team not
named Vandy in the SEC since nineteen seventy eight. Okay,
so take my entire lifetime if I throw out the
Dorks from Nashville. I have never seen US beat an
SEC team worse than that. Never, Nope, okay that's I

(06:52):
don't care who you are. You gotta celebrate, yes, and
guess what it could have been worse? Yeah, we could
have scored more.

Speaker 4 (06:57):
Bo Allen was in. Bo Allen was in.

Speaker 5 (06:59):
We didn't even put it in Garrett, get you money
right like we like we went We put bo Allen
in and it was awesome. It was fun to watch
the offense. Who's that guy calling place?

Speaker 6 (07:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (07:11):
Can we get him on a three year deal? Shitton?

Speaker 5 (07:14):
That guy not the guy we had the rest of
the time, who's that guy? Because we were creative, we
were fun, we were mixed it up. We ran about
the right him ount, we threw about the right amount.
It was awesome. We went for it. We were aggressive.
Who's that guy?

Speaker 4 (07:29):
That was insane? I felt good about beating Florida.

Speaker 7 (07:32):
I didn't think they were capable of winning a football
game like that, and it could have been much worse.
I think it should have been a shutout if you
don't have the muff punt. So just with the defense alone,
Florida I should have had zero how about this? And
the offense could have had a lot more.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
We could have shut out two straight games.

Speaker 5 (07:48):
You take away you could make a strong argument the
defense is giving up zero points because against Auburn that
was an interception and here it was a muff punt.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
We could have had back to back shutouts in the SEC.
If you can't skip Tennessee. That was bad.

Speaker 7 (08:02):
But if you throw in Texas, that was two punk
returns that set them up absolutely.

Speaker 5 (08:06):
I mean that's really true. You can't throw out Tennessee
because that was bad, but the unbelievable.

Speaker 6 (08:10):
Three of the last four games, the defense has been
lights out. I mean, that's an sec to use a phrase.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
Lots of guys hurt.

Speaker 6 (08:16):
That's true. Guys Afarian went left in like the first
play of the game. He's our best defensive player. He
didn't even play most of the game.

Speaker 4 (08:24):
You can't help but be thrilled by you have.

Speaker 5 (08:27):
I hope people take a second to enjoy that, because
there's a really good chance we'll go the rest.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
Of our lives and never see us beat Florida that bad.

Speaker 7 (08:34):
And they had never beaten I think it was never
beating Auburn and Florida same season, something like that, back
to back. Some you've never done this before. There was
a whole long list of first time evers for Kentuckyhandon.

Speaker 5 (08:43):
You were at the game, ye in, Bougie Shannon the
dude seats, What did you think?

Speaker 4 (08:48):
Atmosphere was unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Atmosphere was great.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
I mean, I was like, who is this team that
I'm watching right now. The offense looked unlike anything that
we've seen all season long. I don't know how you
can't be happy about that, But there's still a portion
of our face based it's like, oh, well, I guess
Mark Stoops just just took his hands off of the offense.
Like they didn't want to give They don't want to
give Stoops any credit for when we win, but all
the criticism when we lose.

Speaker 5 (09:09):
Yeah, there is there is a part of that, I think,
although I do think maybe he took the hands off.

Speaker 4 (09:15):
That was a different team. It was.

Speaker 5 (09:17):
I don't know who that guy was. I don't know
if that was Bush Hampden's brother, Cush.

Speaker 7 (09:22):
I don't know Cush Hampdens. Yeah, it seems like that
guy would slow it down, not go faster.

Speaker 4 (09:30):
Good good point.

Speaker 5 (09:31):
Well maybe it's a different strain, but either way, uh,
you gotta love it. So now Kentucky's four and five.
Let's assume they beat Tennessee Tech. I know they're ten
and oher, but let's assume we win. I mean, five
and five's pretty good.

Speaker 6 (09:48):
Five and five is really good when you play the
schedule they've played.

Speaker 5 (09:52):
Now, it's not how we thought it would happen. Five
and five is pretty good, yep. And now you get Vandy,
who I will note uh lost they won.

Speaker 4 (10:06):
Over time, and then Louisville who lost lost at Cow.
I mean, do you think we're gonna get one of those?

Speaker 7 (10:14):
If you go back to my season predictions, game by game,
I had us at five games going into the louis
game and winning, and that is still right in front of.

Speaker 4 (10:22):
Us, still there.

Speaker 5 (10:23):
You probably had this beating Bandy flipped Van in Auburn.

Speaker 7 (10:27):
I had him losing all the way through Auburn and
then getting hot, which is exactly what they're doing right
in front of us.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
What do you think you think we won one of
those games?

Speaker 6 (10:34):
I think the way that Mark Stoops his career has
been he always seems to rise to the challenge and
rise from the ashes, Like who is the your wrestler?
Guy that wrote under the Undertaker?

Speaker 4 (10:44):
I mean, he's not mine.

Speaker 6 (10:45):
I didn't, so I think Mark Stoops is the Undertaker.
I was more encouraged when I saw Vandy really struggle
to beat Auburn and then when Louisville lost the Cow.
Like man, they can get one of those.

Speaker 5 (10:55):
Channon, I want you to look for a piece of
video that will play in the second segment, which is
the Andy or the end of the Louisville game.

Speaker 4 (11:03):
We played it on Cover zero last night. We had
some audio problems for Cover zero.

Speaker 5 (11:06):
By the way, I think it was one of our
best episodes, which is a shame that we had audio problems.
But if you can get through the audio problems, it's
a good episode. I don't think there's anything we can
do about it. But at the end of the Louisville game,
something great happened.

Speaker 4 (11:17):
Shannon.

Speaker 5 (11:17):
Hopefully you will find the audio cal Louisville kicks in
overtime to take a three point lead. Then it's Cow's turn. Okay,
they score a touchdown and Cow's running on the field celebrating,
and the referee comes on the microphone and goes, the
game is not over. The game is not over. Please
return to the sidelines. The game is not over. But

(11:40):
people are losing their minds, and he just keeps going
the game is not over. The game is not over.
And then there's a pause and he goes, the game
is over. You need to hear that. It's great. The
announcer is screaming, the players are screaming and he's trying
to like somehow. I have no idea what the referee
was thinking there at.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
The the game not over.

Speaker 4 (12:00):
Yeah, this process was.

Speaker 6 (12:03):
I think he's got to kick the extra point.

Speaker 5 (12:04):
I think that must have been what he thought, because
he's literally yelling at the players stop celebrating. The game
is not over. And then there's a posit. I guess
somebody gets in his ear and he's like, the game
is over. You need to if you'll find it, it's online.
It was one of my favorite videos. But Louisville losing,
they don't look so unbeatable, do they?

Speaker 6 (12:25):
Year don't?

Speaker 5 (12:25):
No, So do we all agree that if they win
one of these games, Mark Steup's the coach next year.

Speaker 4 (12:33):
Absolutely.

Speaker 6 (12:35):
I don't think it's even a debate anymore.

Speaker 4 (12:37):
All right, now, you lose the game. Let's say you
lose them.

Speaker 6 (12:40):
Both and he's five and seven.

Speaker 5 (12:42):
It's that purgatory we've talked about since last summer. Yep,
Where do you think the fans are today? Remember I
did a poll two weeks ago. Ninety seven percent of
a packed house at Whiskey Thief said they wanted to change. Yes,
there was two people that raise their hands. Now, I

(13:04):
don't think that would be the same.

Speaker 6 (13:05):
I don't either.

Speaker 4 (13:06):
What do you think it would be now?

Speaker 6 (13:09):
I think probably Still there's more on the anti anti Stoops.
I'd say maybe sixty.

Speaker 5 (13:15):
Let's do the thing, let's do the math text machine
seven seven two seven seven four five two five for
here's what I want you to vote on. You don't
know the results of Vandy and Louisville. Let's say you
had to vote today, Mark Stoops the coach next year
Mark Stoops not so? Yes, you'd want to keep him? No,

(13:36):
you wouldn't. I want to see what the where the fan?
We know where it was two weeks ago?

Speaker 6 (13:40):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (13:41):
Where is it today? Just yes or no?

Speaker 5 (13:44):
Seven seven two seven seven four five two five for
I want to see where it is because I don't
know what the answer is going to be.

Speaker 6 (13:50):
And you know, we all saw a lot of pushback
on our social media after the win on Saturday, people
like I still want him fired, he still got to go.
I'm still not in Stoops fan. There's still that sentiment
out there, I think for a lot of people.

Speaker 5 (14:00):
Seven seven to two seven seven four five two five
four Yes or no. I will tell you whatever the
future is big. This is a big round of applause
for Mark, for Bush, for Cutter, Bowli, for the whole team.
When you beat Florida like that, you need to take
a minute to celebrate it, because it doesn't happen, doesn't.

(14:22):
We lost what twenty nine straight times or something? Maybe
more was it thirty one?

Speaker 4 (14:28):
Whatever it was, it.

Speaker 5 (14:29):
Was insane to beat them like that. We've got to
enjoy it, yes, or No. Eight five' nine two eight
twenty two eighty seven, And I'm looking forward to I
want you to hear the reference that was the best
moment of the weekend that nobody heard. We'll be right back. KSR,
welcome back. Take you Sports radio, all right, take you
a guess. What do you think the answer is gonna be?
I just quickly counted the last one hundred votes that

(14:49):
showed up on the machine that they're probably been over
one thousand votes since I put it out there. What
would you guess? What would you guess? The numbers are?
How many people percentage would like.

Speaker 4 (14:59):
To keep me keep him? I'll say thirty.

Speaker 6 (15:03):
Ish, I think forty. I think it's probably around sixty forty.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
I like thirty ish as well.

Speaker 5 (15:09):
I think right now again this is the text machine,
So this is listeners of the show. I'm not saying
this represents the entire fan base, but this represents a
KSR listener fan base.

Speaker 4 (15:20):
Sixty five percent. Yes, keep it?

Speaker 6 (15:22):
Oh wow wow.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
I mean it shows you what a difference two weeks
can make.

Speaker 5 (15:29):
I think about that for a second. Think about we
saw in person at Whiskey Thief the Friday before they
are Friday before the Auburn game, and now two weeks later,
three percent approval to sixty five percent.

Speaker 4 (15:46):
Here's what that tells me.

Speaker 5 (15:48):
First of all, it tells me people's opinions are in
flux and could still go the other way if they
got crushed at Vandy and Louisville.

Speaker 4 (15:54):
Would you agree with that?

Speaker 6 (15:55):
Yep?

Speaker 5 (15:56):
I think that's I mean, anybody's opinion flatly changes in
two weeks. It's like it's like in a presidential race.
If your opinion changes four weeks before the election, it
could still change again before election day. You know what
I mean? Oh yeah, because you're you're flip. You're a flipper,
which is not necessarily a bad thing. It just means
your opinions more flexible. Or if you're Ryan, you drove

(16:16):
by a new yard with an exactly So what it
says tells me. But two it also says to me
people want to like Mark Stoops. Do you know what
I mean? They want to like him. They almost want
him to give them a reason to support.

Speaker 7 (16:32):
Yeah, even the people that have been ready for ten
for a while. I don't think they wanted to get
too nasty because we can't act like it the good times.

Speaker 4 (16:39):
When do you think these two wins have made it
to where it's not nasty? It will help.

Speaker 7 (16:44):
I think the Governor's cup will really lose.

Speaker 5 (16:47):
The Governor's Cup, And I don't think it necessarily means
it's nasty, but Tennessee Tech maybe that would be That
would be it.

Speaker 7 (16:54):
But I also wonder how many fans wanting Stoops back
are just attaching Cutter Bowley to that well. But that's important, Yeah,
because you know Bowie likes it here. I think then
I would be good. I have no idea what's between
his ears. I'm not trying to create controversy, but the
a lot of the excitement is Cutter Bowley and the
shiny new toys on offense. And if Stoops came back

(17:16):
and they didn't, I wonder what that do.

Speaker 4 (17:17):
We have that guy?

Speaker 5 (17:18):
I mean, I was saying on the postgame show. If
you look at my lifetime and you could even go
back to the quarterback when I was a kid, was
it was Derek Ramsey from here? No, okay take that away,
then take that away my lifetime of watching the games,
I would say the four best quarterbacks in some order
are Couch, Woodson, Lorenz, and Levis. You could also maybe

(17:42):
throw in Dusty Bonner. But would you agree that that's
kind of the group in your lifetime?

Speaker 6 (17:45):
In my lifetime, yeah, well, Freddy Magan maybe honorable mention.

Speaker 4 (17:48):
Okay, Freddy would also fit into what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (17:51):
Yeah, all those guys really except Levis from Kentucky.

Speaker 6 (17:55):
From Kentucky.

Speaker 5 (17:56):
There's something about having the guy from Kentucky that's good.
I think Cutter being good and from Kentucky fans are
like ready for that.

Speaker 6 (18:05):
I agree with that one, and I think whatever happens,
I think Cutter is probably going to be involved in
the process. I think Mitch Barnhart would have to consult
Cutting should do. Yes, I do he should. I think
he did. Like Drew said, man, he's he's the guy
that's got more people excited than anything about this football program,
not the coaches, It's Cutter Bowl.

Speaker 4 (18:21):
Would you consult him as well, Shannon.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
Yeah, but I don't think you can base everything entirely
off of what he thinks.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
But I think you take his opinion. You do take
you do take his opinion.

Speaker 4 (18:32):
Yes, And now, like, could you keep Bush Hamden?

Speaker 5 (18:37):
I mean that seemed unthinkable two weeks ago, but I'll
tell you, especially that Bush Hampden Saturday, I wont I
don't know where he's been part of me.

Speaker 4 (18:47):
Thinks they were just like, you know what, we gotta
just go for it.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
Have at it, throw it off the wall and see that.

Speaker 8 (18:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (18:54):
Maybe, and maybe Bush was like, Okay, here we go.
I will even go.

Speaker 6 (18:59):
It's the second time. Going by the Texas game. I
thought he called a really great game of the Texas
game too, except for those first and goal from this
totally agree.

Speaker 4 (19:06):
But that could have been a Mark Stoop saying run
it up to me.

Speaker 6 (19:08):
I think it probably was.

Speaker 5 (19:10):
I'd also know he called a good game in the
Tennessee game. Our defense stunk, but we scored at thirty games.

Speaker 7 (19:16):
You know, since switching the Cutter, it's been obvious they
need a little bit of tempo, and they've done a
little bit gradually, but the Florida games the first time,
they just said go. I think they had four scoring
drives that were like three minutes or maybe four minutes.

Speaker 4 (19:29):
That may be a lot of plays. It goes against
what Mark needs likes. He hates tempo.

Speaker 7 (19:33):
That's what I wonder if maybe he was like, all right,
this does look like it's working a little bit.

Speaker 5 (19:37):
Like the tempo seemed good. All right, I want you
to listen to this. So this is after col beats Louisville.
By the way, hey Louisville. I love watching them lose
to some random former the field on their home field
with seventeen people there.

Speaker 4 (19:52):
But go ahead, play.

Speaker 9 (19:53):
This SONGA takes a stop, look to the end zone,
fires touchdown, shoe and it's a walk off.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
Win for cow not over time, a career.

Speaker 10 (20:12):
Game from their receiver, a career game from their freshman quarterback,
and one a win for the Bears so far from
home and they come to Louisville and stun.

Speaker 4 (20:29):
The game is not over. Please return to your bitch.
The game is not over. The game is over. That
was great. I would I do wonder what was in
his mind during his ear, like, hey man, the game's
really over.

Speaker 6 (20:42):
Do they have to replay it?

Speaker 5 (20:44):
But there used to be a rule that you had
to do the extra point, and that may even I
don't think it's a rule anymore in the NFL, but
there was a time that was a rule, and then
people are like, this is stupid, why do we do this?

Speaker 4 (20:57):
And I guess maybe he thought that was the rule,
but it was great. Maybe his kid was the kicker
and he wanted it to come out and get the
extra point.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
Maybe had a different spread on the game.

Speaker 6 (21:06):
That's true.

Speaker 5 (21:06):
The little fans are very kind of kind of like
a little turning on Brom, like can't win these I've
seen it.

Speaker 4 (21:12):
It is so funny. Now, that's that's crazy to me,
because Brom's done a wonderful Josh.

Speaker 6 (21:16):
When his name is popped up for these other jobs.

Speaker 4 (21:18):
Yeah, well keep going, Louisville, run him off. That'll be
really great for you all.

Speaker 7 (21:23):
I try to ignore them, but sometimes I have to
search a little bit and see what they're saying on Twitter.
And I was doing that Saturday night, and it was
a lot of fun. I saw one might have even
been our boy in law enforcement. It was compared him
to James. It was like, James Franklin can't win the
big one, but brom sometimes wins the little one, and
you can't have either of those. I was like, yeah,

(21:43):
can't lose the little one. I don't know what comparison
you're making there, but yeah, I did get confirmation they
live in Santa claus Land.

Speaker 6 (21:51):
I'm Santa Claus Christmas Lake Village, the sheriff. Okay, yeah
he does live there.

Speaker 4 (21:56):
I'd be happy all the time if all.

Speaker 6 (22:00):
You have friends that live in Christmas.

Speaker 5 (22:01):
Lake Village, Christmas Like Village, you would have friends that
live in Christmas Like Village. I just joy us all
the time. I wanted Louisville to lose because I didn't.
They're not good, so I didn't want them to be
in the playoff. That was just the only thing to me,
Like I listen on there. I used to root for
them to lose every single game. I'm not really like

(22:21):
that anymore, just because they're not it just doesn't enter
the radar. But I didn't want them to make the playoffs, right,
and so now it's they're very likely have the playoff,
and that that's what they got.

Speaker 6 (22:31):
Clemson coming in on this Friday.

Speaker 4 (22:32):
They got Clemson coming in. It's Friday. Yeah, is that
in Louisville?

Speaker 6 (22:37):
Yes, it is.

Speaker 5 (22:37):
That actually would be kind of a fun game to go. Well,
we got a basketball game Friday.

Speaker 4 (22:40):
Yea our.

Speaker 5 (22:41):
By the way, speaking of this, are you, how are
you feeling about the basketball game against Louisville Tuesday?

Speaker 4 (22:46):
Bring it?

Speaker 6 (22:46):
Nobody beating that team we saw in the first half
Friday night?

Speaker 5 (22:49):
Nobody, Nobody, Nobody in college, in the country, in the
former country singer Sylvia nobody, nobody. All right, Shannon now
knows what song to play for Ryan. We'll be right back.
Ko's heart.

Speaker 4 (23:03):
T J Smith, personal injury attorney, called TJ. He'll make
them pay.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio percent.

Speaker 4 (23:13):
Nobody, Here we go.

Speaker 6 (23:15):
You nobody called today she hung.

Speaker 5 (23:20):
Up with a turn name and I wonder, Okay, remember
we don't have the music on the podcast.

Speaker 2 (23:28):
I can't wait to hear that isolated audio.

Speaker 4 (23:31):
So I have to tell you I like that song,
Guilty Pleasure.

Speaker 5 (23:37):
It's a I didn't That's one of those songs I
did not know until Prime Country on serious M.

Speaker 4 (23:43):
I didn't hear that as a kid. Okay, did you
know it?

Speaker 10 (23:45):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (23:45):
Yeah, and for some reason when it comes on you,
what you just heard is what's happening in my car?
So I do uh, I do like that song. If
I get your man back, that's right. Big news for
our listeners in North Carolina. Corn brad hemp is available
at retail locations across the state. I don't know how
many listeners were having in North Carolina, but if we do,

(24:07):
go to Low's Foods and you have it, you could
pick up Kentucky's finest infused wellness products right in your neighborhood. Sores,
the seltzers, sleep gummies. It's all in North Carolina. Come
on and raise up. No artificials, no synthetics, cornbredhemp dot com,
cornbred hemp. This is the good life. And we'll talk
about later in the week. Mitch McConnell's trying to ban

(24:29):
after Mitch McConnell kind of set it up to where
hemp could be legal to help the farmers in Kentucky,
and it has now because the bourbon industry's mad. He
is trying to get it taken away up from Kentucky.
And let me say big shout out to Ram Paul
who's fighting it. This should be something everybody votes on,
but it's like being done in committees. But ram Paul

(24:50):
is against Mitch McConnell, who's leaving on his way out,
wants to do something stupid and shout out to Rampaul
and the people trying to fight it, which includ a
lot of the Democrats and some other Republicans.

Speaker 4 (25:02):
But we'll see what happens. So I just wanted to
throw that out.

Speaker 6 (25:05):
Big flipper, flopper, flapper, he's flipping, flopping.

Speaker 5 (25:08):
He's definitely flapping. Eight five, nine, two eighth, twenty two
eighty seven. Let's go in here. Let's start with Joshua.
Go ahead, Joshua, Joshua. All right, no, Joshua, Adam, go
ahead of Adam.

Speaker 11 (25:26):
Hey, what's going on?

Speaker 4 (25:27):
Goes?

Speaker 11 (25:28):
So I was definitely on the uh, you know, I
of Tennessee, on the the thought that we needed to change,
but because things had gotten so stale and I.

Speaker 12 (25:38):
Didn't see how we can bring it back. It doesn't
seem stale anymore. You beat Auburn at Auburn, and you
blow out Florida and now with' you know, car Bowley
and the offense looking like it is, it's not stale anymore.
So you know, SUS makes a bowl game if they
can get to six and six or you know, maybe
even one out, get to seven and five, bring him
back and let's let's see what this young team can do.

Speaker 4 (26:02):
Appreciate the call.

Speaker 5 (26:03):
What I mean, what if we had won the Texas game,
which they should.

Speaker 4 (26:06):
Have, and they're now in the top ten. Yeah, I mean, by.

Speaker 5 (26:10):
The way, two of the teams we played could very
well end up in the playoffs. Yeah, Texas and Georgia.

Speaker 6 (26:16):
Ole Miss was knocking on the door for a long time.

Speaker 7 (26:18):
What if Bullie was the quarterback in the Old Miss
r Now Ole Miss isn't out of it?

Speaker 4 (26:21):
Are they?

Speaker 6 (26:21):
I don't know where they are right now?

Speaker 4 (26:22):
They've only got one loss.

Speaker 6 (26:24):
Now there's three teams.

Speaker 7 (26:25):
What if we have three teams that were on our schedule?
Make the play and you were beating Old Miss. We
were beating old and we played we didn't play cut
if we played cutter And that's what I mean exactly
had a point lead in the first half against Old Miss.

Speaker 4 (26:38):
But against Texas that we were better. Punch it in,
we were better. That is frustrating.

Speaker 5 (26:48):
But put that aside. I know now the counter to
that is Auburn and Florida aren't good. But I did
go on a rant, A good rant, Shannon, you might
at some point want to listen to this rant. Chair
negative Jerry, And I like Jerry. He's a good caller.
He calls sometimes when there's not a lot going on,
so I appreciate Jerry. But Jerry came on there and
he's like, any good, we'll go good. And I'm like,

(27:16):
was that his call.

Speaker 4 (27:18):
To play?

Speaker 5 (27:18):
That It wasn't his most articulate call because he just
kept going right.

Speaker 4 (27:23):
So I'm looking.

Speaker 5 (27:25):
But I said to him, why is it that every
time we beat somebody, our natural reaction is we have
to say they stink?

Speaker 6 (27:32):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (27:33):
Why do we.

Speaker 5 (27:33):
Always do that? We need ourselves no credit. It's like
the person who like goes out with somebody attractive and goes, well,
they must be ugly because they want to go out
with me. What is the groucho marks line. I don't
want to be a part of any club that invites
me to be a member.

Speaker 2 (27:50):
That's our fan base, that's our fan.

Speaker 4 (27:53):
We can't be a good win.

Speaker 6 (27:55):
We won, You're right about Jerry Man. Jerry called in
and trying to downplay our big win we just had
against Florida back to back a SEC win.

Speaker 4 (28:03):
Let me just give the numbers again. Florida.

Speaker 5 (28:06):
Florida just played Georgia last week and was competitive the
entire game and led, I believe in the fourth quarter.
Now a week later we beat them by thirty and
then you go, they don't have anything to play for it, Well,
they had, they'll played well against Georgia Amen, okay. And
then Auburn. I know, Auburn fired to coach.

Speaker 4 (28:26):
I get it.

Speaker 5 (28:27):
But Auburn played Oklahoma, Georgia and Uhandy like they took
all these teams that have playoff beliefs, took them all
to the final play. You couldn't make an argument they
could have won all those games. Auburn's old schedule, they've
had close games and.

Speaker 4 (28:47):
We beat them.

Speaker 5 (28:50):
Credit and so then you go, well, you beat Auburn
with their old coach. Okay, But then when we beat Florida,
they go, we beat Florida their new coach.

Speaker 4 (29:01):
Want which one do.

Speaker 5 (29:03):
We get to count? Which one do we get to celebrate?
You know, we don't get to celebrate anything. I just
don't like that.

Speaker 6 (29:10):
It's just people that are so anti Stoops right now.
They just can't see the forest of the trees.

Speaker 4 (29:15):
Yes.

Speaker 5 (29:16):
By the way, Brian Kelly rejected all attempts at LSU
buy out, says he wants all fifty four million dollars.
He seems like a great guy. Not a lot of
people enough to tell you how good Brian Kelly. Brian
Kelly goes Scarett, will you go ahead and count it off?
I had a lot of texts after the game going Garrett,

(29:36):
get your money. I think that's gonna end up being
a phrase that stays with this Kentucky fan base.

Speaker 4 (29:40):
Don't you.

Speaker 7 (29:41):
I saw posters, I saw people walking around with actually
like fake cash in their hands to throw around. Heck,
I was singing, got a whole lot of money, Garrett
counting for me. It's just now part of it's it's
part of our football street. I mean, Darrynka said it
on the studio.

Speaker 4 (29:58):
Noka saying it on the studio broadcast killed me. First
of all.

Speaker 5 (30:02):
Tom Martin did a lot of UK reference. It talks
about you getting thrown through the table.

Speaker 6 (30:07):
Can I tell you what Tom Hart did during the game. Yeah,
he called me during the game when the game was on.
It was a If you go back and listen, there's
a long dead period. You don't hear anything on winners.
There's a kickoff.

Speaker 5 (30:18):
Well, then you don't have to say he called you
during the game, during the day.

Speaker 4 (30:24):
A reaction you called it a commercial break. No, that
you a commercial break during a commercial commercial.

Speaker 6 (30:35):
This will have to be a lot of dead air
on a kickoff.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
He was processing what you told him. It's okay, And
do you know what he wanted?

Speaker 6 (30:41):
What he wanted me to venmo him ten dollars for
the mention of me getting slammed through the table by
cash Daniel.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
Seemed like a text would have done in that situation.

Speaker 5 (30:50):
But you know what, that was funny because you did
and then he acted like you were giving he did.

Speaker 4 (30:54):
The cash aft thing.

Speaker 5 (30:56):
And then darry Noka being able to not just say
it but work it into the highlight because it was
Garrett Nussmeyer. It wasn't even like he literally he didn't
force it. He was like, Garrett Nussmeyer, Garrett gets your
money right.

Speaker 6 (31:09):
Well, come on, all the players, I think they've kind
of leaned into it. They were all doing this and
they did the thing. Yeah, O kicker did it, our kicker.
He mane by the way, unbelievable the Garrett gets your
money right. And it's also people have kind of turned
on Garrett. Yes, yes they have.

Speaker 4 (31:29):
I am people. I am in that group.

Speaker 5 (31:31):
It seems like Calzada has now not considered quite as bad.
It's like Calzada, the best thing that happened to Calzada
was Garrett.

Speaker 4 (31:39):
Calling this show.

Speaker 5 (31:40):
Yeah, because my video, our video with Garrett has hundreds
of thousands of views on TikTok and Instagram. I mean
his phone call from the phone call that we put
a video at, its went megaviral on both Instagram and TikTok.

Speaker 7 (31:54):
Outside of the CEO at the coldplay thing, Garrett's worst
pr move of the year calling in and just on himself,
he had unanimous approval. People thought that Calzada was the jerk.
I mean he's admitted to just constantly messaging him and
then screen recording. I think it flipped a lot.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
Of people exactly. Everybody was like, you know what, the
Garrett guy is kind of a jerk.

Speaker 6 (32:12):
Put you know, Garrett needs to get his money right right,
like the comedy made we said, you know he did
it when he was a quarterback said I kind of
let it go for a while and then I decided
to go back at him again, like, why are you
going at him again? He's on the sideline, he's got
a clipboard, and he still.

Speaker 5 (32:27):
Does explain why he had twenty thousand dollars in cash.
Somebody reminded me, you can't go to the bank and
just get twenty thousand.

Speaker 4 (32:36):
You have to make an appointment for more than ten thousands.
She had an appointment, like, I'll show him somebody.

Speaker 7 (32:45):
One of our regular photoshoppers, Kevin Miller, one of those guys.
Did you see they took the UKFCU add and changed
it to the Garrett account, earning four percent Garrett get
your money APR four percent.

Speaker 4 (32:55):
I didn't see that.

Speaker 5 (32:56):
I like that well anyway, it made it a lot
more fun the fact that they won that game.

Speaker 6 (33:03):
It puts bow Allen in at the end of the
game insteady.

Speaker 5 (33:05):
And that was clearly a punishment. That was clearly a punishment. Yeah,
which I guess is fair.

Speaker 7 (33:10):
I do think the players doing the money den shows
a lot about that locker room though. I mean it's
a good sign, agreed, whatever you think. The cal is
out of video. Those guys don't have turmoil.

Speaker 5 (33:19):
And it also shows that stoops may have been upset,
but like it wasn't I'm gonna kick you off the
team upset or else they wouldn't have done because Stoops
is right there. Yeah, sof I'm nine twenty two eighty seven,
We'll take a break.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
Be right back. It's KASR.

Speaker 5 (33:35):
There's a bowl projection with Kentucky and the Liberty Bowl. Yep,
facts I would go.

Speaker 6 (33:41):
I saw it.

Speaker 4 (33:41):
After this year, I'll go to the Liberty Huh.

Speaker 5 (33:44):
That's I was playing TCU in the Liberty Brocu.

Speaker 7 (33:49):
Seeing several projections, not just one, like three or four
that have Kentucky.

Speaker 4 (33:53):
They have beating this or beating it? Who we have
beating it? Is it Bandy or Louisville?

Speaker 6 (33:58):
So many times that Louisville game the better team does
not win. I mean it happened like O.

Speaker 4 (34:02):
Wait, I don't think it's crazy we could beat many.

Speaker 6 (34:04):
No, it's not not.

Speaker 4 (34:05):
I don't think I'm not picking it.

Speaker 6 (34:07):
It's senior day for Pavia down there though.

Speaker 2 (34:10):
Yeah, you're beating him. No, why not that on Senior night?

Speaker 4 (34:13):
In what are you talking about?

Speaker 13 (34:15):
Tell?

Speaker 4 (34:16):
On Senior night?

Speaker 3 (34:17):
Did you go Paby It's gonna throw over about four
hundred yards and five touchdowns?

Speaker 4 (34:21):
Wait?

Speaker 5 (34:21):
Wait till you win, and you're gonna get a phone
call from me saying gets your money right.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
That would knock him out of the football playoff contention
for sure.

Speaker 4 (34:29):
Yeah, they're gonna be out anyway. They're not gonna make it.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
If they beat Tennessee, they may not be they.

Speaker 5 (34:34):
Beat Tennessee, they'd be close. But there's there's just so
many teams kind of ahead of them in the SEC
pecking order. But those teams can lose too, So yeah,
those teams can uh can lose as well. Eight five nine, oh, uh,
twenty two eighty seven. I the guy who is the uh,
I said British, he's actually Irish.

Speaker 4 (34:49):
Our announcers Irish. Uh. He is gonna call in Wednesday
before their next game. Nice.

Speaker 5 (34:56):
His name is His name is Gavin. Oh, it is Gavitt.
We have a His name is Gavin Colton. He's Irish
in America and he's a writer. He writes for The
Honest Ulsterman, Hippo Campus and the Appalachian Review.

Speaker 6 (35:10):
There we go, the Appalachian Review. An Irishman.

Speaker 4 (35:13):
Yeah, he's an Irishman and he does what's hip? What
do you think? Hippo Campus is hippo campus. I've never
heard of that, haven't either, but I think they should
use him on more things. Uh quickly, basketball, It's fun.
Wasn't Like I said?

Speaker 6 (35:27):
That first half was unbelievable. They did everything right, And
like you said, it just makes a difference when you've
got a true strong point guard out.

Speaker 5 (35:34):
There, sim between point guard, not a point Yep, that's it.
You saw the Aberdeen was great and then Lowe was great. Yep,
both of them. And then they make everybody else good.
The handler looks more comfortable. Oh wait, looks more comfortable Moreno,
was excellent.

Speaker 6 (35:46):
But they had like twenty six assists and six turnover
something like that. It was amazing.

Speaker 5 (35:50):
And uh, does everybody get a hint of why I
like Jaylen Lowso?

Speaker 4 (35:54):
Yes, definitely. I really wish we weren't playing Louisville next.

Speaker 5 (35:58):
I wish we were playing the Champions Class Tuesday, don't
you like I'd like that. This seems like the time
to go play on the neutral court. See what you got.
But one of the things about playing at Louisville, except
for the rivalry aspect, it's probably the most no lose
game of our non conference schedule because you're on the
other team's home floor.

Speaker 4 (36:16):
They're supposed to win.

Speaker 7 (36:18):
It's a true road game, the only one in the
non conference sleep I it was supposed to be all
about Jay Low in that offense, but I can't get
over how good the defense is this early, defending for
entire possessions with the other teams like twenty seven percent
from the field. It's you know, throughout the Georgetown exhibition,
which doesn'tcount anyway, and they've defended well in all of
these games too. And then I thought we'd be talking

(36:39):
about Lo Lo Lo, but Marino, like, the defense is
so much farther along than it should be in week
one of the season.

Speaker 4 (36:45):
He really is.

Speaker 5 (36:46):
They were great, and you know, our schedule looks a
lot harder after one week than it did before. You know,
Michigan State beats Arkansas. Did you think did you think
the Arkansas player hit him in the face and hit
the fan in the face and intentionally.

Speaker 4 (37:00):
Yes, of course he did. Changing you think that was intentional?

Speaker 2 (37:03):
He knew what he was doing. That was a long
towel pros o the head of that fan.

Speaker 6 (37:07):
Yeah, he didn't run.

Speaker 5 (37:08):
Upside the head and then he seemed mad. The guy
wanted the towel feels like the towel should have been
the least.

Speaker 4 (37:13):
Of his works.

Speaker 8 (37:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (37:13):
Really, you better worry about the way cow really good
shot cart management at the end of that game. Oh,
he's been getting killed on Twitter this weekend.

Speaker 5 (37:19):
Oh my goodness, did you see those? The Fox College
Basketball account did a post just about how bad Arkansas
shots were at the end of the game.

Speaker 6 (37:30):
Duh, didn't what they expect. They're not watch him at
Kentucky last couple of year.

Speaker 4 (37:34):
They were awful though.

Speaker 5 (37:34):
He had guys shooting fade away thirty footers out of
the inbounds.

Speaker 7 (37:38):
You know, sometimes Twitter will hatch on and something, And
I saw a bunch of like kids dribbling the ball
real hard. It is like Col's offense. It's just like dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble.

Speaker 5 (37:47):
It was so awful. Yeah, but but so Michigan State
wins that game. That's good. Indiana pounds Marquette. Yeah, North
Carolina beat Kansas, right, Saint John's lost, But that Saint
John's Alabama game was a great college basketball game.

Speaker 4 (38:03):
Did you see any of it?

Speaker 6 (38:04):
Now?

Speaker 5 (38:04):
You came on bragging about it for the first I mean,
that is one of the better non cop. It reminded
me of Kentucky, North Carolina in Vegas that year in
terms shot shot after big shot in a great environment.
They had like twenty thousand people in Madison Square Garden
on a Saturday in November to watch, and it was Alabama.
Alabama's good. I thought they were taking a big step back,

(38:26):
but Filon is the man. Yeah, file On's SEC player
of the year. To me, I don't know who else
it would be.

Speaker 6 (38:32):
What was your stat you said about their shooting.

Speaker 5 (38:34):
Chart chart was shot Alabama shot sixty nine shots and
only two Shannon were not threes er layups.

Speaker 2 (38:45):
That's the type of offense they run.

Speaker 4 (38:47):
And by the way, there were two for two on
the shots that were not threes in layups. It was
even more in the eighties.

Speaker 7 (38:51):
I think it was eighty one shots and two. Their
shot chart. One of the two I don't even think
could be called mid range. There's only one dot that's
not in the paint or three point line.

Speaker 5 (39:00):
Yeah, they're good. They're good, and Saint Johns is good.
Saint Johns is good too. Bryce Hopkins did he play well?
How's he still in school? I feel like Bryce Hopkins
played here in the mid eighties.

Speaker 4 (39:14):
Here. But but he's playing as well. Let's go to Randy.
What's up Randy?

Speaker 8 (39:20):
Hey, I say keep him, that's what that's the topic
he's calling about there a while ago. Why is that
a good coach? Well, they're a good football team. Hell
at this guy. If you take this guy in his life,
I mean, his whole family, that's all he do is football, man.
I mean, who're you gonna go get? I mean, this
guy is a football man. Yeah, tough, He's got everything

(39:44):
you need except you know, when you're in the SEC
and you're trying to get talent, man, it's tough. I
mean it's tough. And to be where he's at right
now with the talent that he's had, and you know
he had to switch quarterbacks and get this team to
come together. I don't know if he'll lose another game.
I mean, how do you if I don't know that
it's sad. If you guys look real quick, how many
points do they give up a game?

Speaker 5 (40:05):
Yeah, I'm not sure, but it's not it's not a
time and especially outside of the Tennessee game, it's.

Speaker 8 (40:11):
Not a lot. I mean, you know, he holds teams,
he's a good football man period.

Speaker 5 (40:17):
I appreciate the call and a defense I might acknowledge
it has multiple injuries, Yes, multiple injured.

Speaker 6 (40:24):
There's three starters out by halftime.

Speaker 5 (40:26):
And again there was somebody who called the show AND's like,
Florida's injured, what about us? We had five defensive starters out,
but Florida's anger. Well, you know, stop Joseph, go ahead, Joseph.

Speaker 13 (40:40):
Kind of team me up a little bit. You know,
people were complaining an about us, Well, Board is not
very good football team. Well, last I checked. When you
play a bad football team, what are you supposed to do?

Speaker 4 (40:52):
Win?

Speaker 13 (40:53):
Supposed to Yeah, and not only when we ran trained.
I mean it was a complete and utter domination on Florida.
That's what you do. So I actually think we're starting
to peak at the right time. It wouldn't shock me
if we went eight and five.

Speaker 4 (41:11):
Yeah, that's doesn't it.

Speaker 2 (41:15):
Come two weeks ago? Get into the students passing. Now
we got eight and five. Well maybe they will.

Speaker 4 (41:20):
I hope they do.

Speaker 2 (41:21):
Hope you're right, But it's funny.

Speaker 4 (41:23):
Trigger and extension. Wouldn't that be something.

Speaker 7 (41:26):
Sometimes I haven't seen that in writing, but someone told
me that does. I think eight someone said, get ready
for him to win a bowl game.

Speaker 4 (41:33):
You got.

Speaker 5 (41:35):
I love you, Mark, but you got to turn that down.
You cannot.

Speaker 7 (41:41):
It's on the table. I don't think it'll happen. But
if they were to win a bowl game.

Speaker 5 (41:44):
But if I told you before the season that you
went seven and five and went to bow everybody would
take Everybody.

Speaker 6 (41:50):
Would say give him a raise.

Speaker 5 (41:52):
Everybody that none of us any more money. He's still
paid extremely well.

Speaker 6 (41:59):
Even our most optimistic sales, nobody had us even close
to winning seven games.

Speaker 7 (42:04):
I think I think most fans in March would have
been very happy if you said they go six and
six and go to the bowl games.

Speaker 5 (42:12):
But in that moment that I totally agree with that. Right,
we'll take a break, talk some more about this. I
got a couple other things as well.

Speaker 4 (42:17):

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
