Welcome to our two Yucky Sports Radio present it by
Stockton Mortgage. Now Here's Matt Jones.

Speaker 4 (01:04):
Welcome back Tekey Sports Radio A nine two eight twenty
two eighty seven. Text machine seven seven two seven seven
four five two five four. Got some folks on the line.
I'm gonna get to you in just a second. One
person on the text machine, says Matt. After watching the
last two games, I think we can finish nine and three.
That's my text today right there, They're gonna take two
losses away just because of how good we're playing.

Speaker 5 (01:26):
That's pretty optimistic. I can't get there.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
Yeah, I like it. I like I say, keep the
keep the optimism. Couple things, all right, let me do
some quick scheduling. That's important. First of all, tomorrow morning,
we are in Louisville at beer knows that's in New Albany, correct,
Charlestown Road, is that right?

Speaker 6 (01:43):
Shannon will have to confirm that.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
What's the road number. I don't have address.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
We'll get it from Billy. He's the GM he's the
one's supposed to be keeping up with all this stuff.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
Yeah, there's an address on the little graphic.

Speaker 5 (01:53):
I think it's like Charlestown Crossing.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Charlestown Crossing, Yes, thirty three thousand and two, Charlestown Crossing.
This are usually our UK Louisville show. Usually it's on Friday.
This time it's on Tuesday. Usually it's like so packed.
If you don't get there at like a thirty, you
can't get in. Probably won't be like that this time
because it's on a Tuesday, so you can get in,
get there, great pizza. It's like this literally is the

(02:16):
anniversary of our first ever remote where Ryan was scared
and turned his back to the audience. Now we're here again,
great chance to come see us. Got some surprises coming
to that's tomorrow Tomorrow night for the louisvill game. If
you want to watch the game at ks Bar, we're
giving away those Makers Mark glasses.

Speaker 6 (02:33):
They're really cool.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
So if you order an al eight slushy, you get
free the ks Bar Makers Mark glass with the wax
on the bottom of it. So one time we let
you leave with the glass, you will get to leave
with the glass during the Louisville game. That's pretty good.
I think it starts they start doing that at five o'clock,
so you can come watch the Louisville game and get
the glass. That's I want them myself, but we have

(02:57):
enough just for tomorrow night, so plan on coming and
watch in the game. I host trivia on Wednesday. Keep
that in mind, and then Thursday they're.

Speaker 6 (03:04):
Doing karaoke first time ever at Chaos Bar.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
You're gonna go sing, aren't you go? Sing? Sylvia?

Speaker 2 (03:10):
People want us to you to keep singing Sylvia. You
were singing it during the commercial break before we came back.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
I like it, but I don't think everybody was wanting it,
but you could do. So That's that's the schedule of
the week, all right. I want to do a couple
quick things and then I'll go back to UK. I
want to give a shout out two and somebody can
remind me the name of the church. There's a church
in Somerset that I want. It's called Heritage. I already
know what you're gonna do. Hee, He'll something. But so

(03:37):
this woman on TikTok, Shannon, have you seen this? She
decided to call churches and ask them. She said, I
am out of baby formula. You all have an outreach
at your church that I see on your website? Can
you help me get baby formula?

Speaker 5 (03:52):
Heritage, Hope, Church of God and something.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
It calls twenty six churches around the country, only three
tell her they'll help her. One is a church like
I don't know where the other two are, but one
is this church called Heritage What Heritage Hope Church of God?
And Heritage Hope the Church of God in Somerset, and
the call she records all the calls. Her point was

(04:16):
to kind of I think she was probably trying to
trap some of these churches who act like they care
about the community show they aren't. But she calls the
Heritage Hope Church of God. And this man he's so kind,
it's like the sweetest, It's like the sweetest old man.
He was like, honey, I'm sorry to hear that. What
kind of flavor could I get you for the baby?
For me? Sweetest thing in the world. She posts the

(04:36):
video on TikTok. The church takes in one hundred thousand
dollars in donations in like two days. Amazing, this little
country church in Somerset. I saw somebody recorded his sermon
yesterday morning. And then it's one of the sweetest things
I've ever seen. This old man who looks like and

(04:57):
sounds like the mountain churches I use to go to
in Sneedville, Tennessee with my mom. Yeah, he's sitting there.
He's old, Like he's not even standing up. He's sitting,
probably because I don't know if he can stand up.
And he's talking about how he just did it because
he thought this woman needed formula and now all this

(05:18):
money had come in, and how he couldn't believe it,
and like the blessing, like it's one of the sweetest
things I've ever seen. It really is. And of all
these places around the country that had said no, this
little church in Somerset said yes and ended up with blessing.
He said they bring in twenty thousand dollars a month
in like offerings, and they got one hundred thousand dollars

(05:41):
in two days.

Speaker 6 (05:41):
Wow, that's power of God.

Speaker 7 (05:44):
Man.

Speaker 4 (05:44):
But isn't that also like that's what religion is supposed
to be. Amen, And a lot of people are like
criticizing the churches that didn't, and I get it, but
I'm actually more interested in the one that did and
seeing that as a positive. So I just wanted to
give that church a shout out. In Summerset. It looks
like a tiny church, weren't that many people there, but

(06:05):
I just thought it was he you saw. Yeah, I
got a little lump in my throat too.

Speaker 5 (06:08):
When first he says, we'll get it figured out, and
he could have ended it there, but he's like, now,
I'm gonna get a pen and paper and write this down.
And he says, I'm a great grandpa. I'm not good
with phone, so give me details in case I have
to do it myself. What's the brand, what's the flavor?
How much do you need? And he's write it down.
Then after that he says, now when she said it,
says this is I don't really need it. I'm just

(06:28):
seeing what you would say. He goes on this rant
about how hard it is. People in his church need him,
but everybody's afraid to speak up and ask for it.
So he's like, I actually appreciate when someone says help me,
because I want to help. But a lot of times
people keep that inside and you don't know they need it.
But he just he gives a sermon on the TikTok
and a lot of the others and the a lot
of the other churches were just like, we thought it
was a scam. Well, I mean, if you got scammed

(06:51):
for one bottle of baby formula, it wouldn't be the
worst thing in the world, would it. Right, But anyway,
just a big shout out to that place that was
that was really neat.

Speaker 4 (07:00):
Secondly, Shannon, this for you. The Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame is this week. Ye all right, the inductions.
Let's I'm gonna quickly go over who who got in,
because I don't think we did this when they got in,
but but I was a little surprised. Okay, so here's
who got in. Outcast, Sound Garden, Joe Cocker, Bad Company,

(07:22):
the White Stripes, Salt and Pepper, Warren Zevon, and Sydney Lauper.
Now a couple things. First of all, I couldn't believe
the White Stripes doesn't feel like they're that old that
they could like there was already time to put them.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
In, right, Yeah, late nineties, early two thousands bands, not
that long ago.

Speaker 8 (07:42):
It is yours. I don't know what the.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
Feel the same about Outcasts. And then one we just
playing them just last.

Speaker 4 (07:48):
Year, so they showed all the introductions for me personally.
One things to I'm a big warren Zevon got right
because David Letterman inducted them. I mean, you talk about
David letters my favorite person, like maybe my favorite person
ever in entertainment. He inducts him, and of course that
song is our theme and his introduction was great. It

(08:09):
was neat. Some people skipped it, though, this is what
I want to talk about. The lead singer of Bad
Company skips it. The woman from White Stripes, Meg White,
skips it. Both said they didn't want to be part
of it. How do you not want to be part
of it? How do you not want to be part
of being inducting? Rock and roll? Hahole fing? Like, how
do you not.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
Show up unless you've got a health issue? You show
up for something like that?

Speaker 4 (08:34):
Okay, but that's not the one that's the most crazy
to me. Yeah, chubby Checker, chubby Checker refuses to come.
Why now? First of all, no offense to chubby Checker, Shannon. Yeah,
but his chubby Checker ever done anything but the twist,
not that I'm aware of. All of his songs are
like the twist, twisting again. Here we twist, twist, we twist.

(08:58):
I'm over here twisting. Hey, everybuddy's still twisted? Like that's
too fast to twist? He has them all. All he
does is twist. And he refused to come, and when
asked why, he said, I would rather be on the
road performing for the fans than perform at the Rock
and Roll Hall of Fame. Now, I would argue, you

(09:20):
probably would get more fans at the Rock and holl
because it's on television.

Speaker 6 (09:24):
Fans would probably like to see that.

Speaker 8 (09:26):
And he was showing up to see Chubby Checker.

Speaker 4 (09:28):
Well, there's your question. So I was having this conversation
yesterday with the Turkey outter. He was at my house
watching football, and we were like, wonder where Chubby Checker
performed yesterday?

Speaker 6 (09:38):
It was so.

Speaker 4 (09:38):
Important, it was so important he skipped the Rock and
Roll Hall of Fame. The answer was, looks to me
to be nowhere.

Speaker 6 (09:45):
He didn't even have a show.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
Looking online, it looks to me he's performed once in
twenty twenty five and it was in La Plaine, Illinois.
Don't know where that is. I never heard of it,
never heard of.

Speaker 5 (09:57):
It's got to be a casino.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
So not only did he refuse, he lied and said
he was going to perform a concert and he wasn't.
So my question for you is, what could Chubby Checker
have been doing that was so important that he would
skip the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Man's eighty
five years old. Wow, this might be the last time

(10:18):
he's in the public consciousness. Yeah, why Shannon not show
up and just twist? I'm just like one more time,
just twist.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
Some would argue he doesn't even belong there to begin with.
He only had one song, So.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
I would you, right, said Fred making it for time
two sexy?

Speaker 3 (10:37):
You have one hit and all of a sudden, now
you act like you're above the rock and Roll Hall
of Fame?

Speaker 4 (10:42):
How could you not come twist?

Speaker 5 (10:43):
I went to his website to see his next tour date,
and there's just something asking if you want him at
your corporate or special events, like they asked you to
come to their special event, and if they just called
you and you didn't.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
Go at eighty five, can you even twist?

Speaker 4 (10:59):
Well, there's a video of him at the Little Plain,
Illinois in July, and he's twisting. Now he's got on
a Shannon a bad hair piece.

Speaker 8 (11:06):
I've heard twist that hair piece off.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
The hair piece is not He's not twisted. It was twisted, unfortunately,
but like he clearly can still twist. Don't you think
that room would have gone crazy if this old man
came out and just twisted.

Speaker 6 (11:20):
Maybe the biggest pop of the night and if.

Speaker 4 (11:22):
You can't sing, get somebody else to sing it, and
you just twist.

Speaker 6 (11:25):
Like Drew said his fan, his fans would want to
see him give him his flowers one last time.

Speaker 4 (11:30):
I just don't understand how Chubby Checker skips. I don't
either of all the people on that list, he's the
least like. Wouldn't you agree he's the least star.

Speaker 5 (11:40):
He's the guy that first, like, he's there three hours
before the door's open because he's so excited.

Speaker 9 (11:48):
For everyone.

Speaker 5 (11:49):
He has his own pot luck back there for everybody.
He's just excited to be in.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
I can understand if, like, I don't know, well, actually
all these people should have attended, because I mean, we
should attend the hall of this Indie Lauper sound Garden.
Joe Cocker, I mean Joe Cocker dead. I don't know,
Warren's Evon's dead. Yes, Salt and Peppa, I'm sure there's they.

(12:12):
I'm sure they came.

Speaker 6 (12:13):
I'm sure they were there when the last time.

Speaker 4 (12:16):
It really offends me that Chubby Checker didn't come in
unless there's a because especially that he put out a
public statement that I have another concert and he didn't
have one.

Speaker 6 (12:23):
Yeah, it's private show.

Speaker 8 (12:27):
Joe maybe twist. Joe Cocker is dead, so that's why
he wasn't there.

Speaker 4 (12:31):
Okay, So I excuse Warren's I excuse Joe Cocker, but
I don't understand how the lead singer Bad Company. Now,
maybe he's sick. Okay. So if that's the case, I understand.
But Chubby Checker said, I'm not sick. I can twist.
I'm just not twisting for you anyway. It annoyed me.

(12:51):
I'm not gonna lie to you. Let's go to Jim.
Go ahead, Jim, Yes, go ahead.

Speaker 10 (12:57):
Who I'm sort take? The Florida game has remained. First
time I went to the Florida home game against Florida
and as a game and we got a one point
lead in Boston the fourth quarter.

Speaker 4 (13:12):
So did you go to this week?

Speaker 10 (13:15):
No, I'm not able to go and a.

Speaker 4 (13:17):
Handicaps, understand. So it had to feel good since you
went to the one that we lost, blew the lead
that we got this victory.

Speaker 10 (13:24):
Yeah, there were two A man's in there as he
left and said we had a good coach one time.
His name was bear Boy, wasn't it it took?

Speaker 4 (13:33):
Yeah?

Speaker 10 (13:36):
Hang on this second good good old basketball player for
Kentucky passed away last week. Neighbors, Oh, George Christ he
was caught Cotton Nash's roommate and best praying back.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
George Christ.

Speaker 10 (13:54):
Uh huh Christ see c R I t V Chris.

Speaker 4 (14:00):
George Krits or is it he's.

Speaker 10 (14:03):
A county We moved down there. He led his high
school team in his corn the Blue Brook or something like.
That's my oh hi. But he he was a great guy.

Speaker 4 (14:18):
All right, Well, I appreciate thank you for letting us know.

Speaker 10 (14:22):
Thanks, how goes go?

Speaker 4 (14:24):
Did you?

Speaker 6 (14:25):
I think I think the prtice named Kritz.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
He's like, yeah, big adare county, you know, coach administrator
for years and years after his basketball career was over.
But yeah, I think he guy was right. He think
he was caught in Ash's roommate.

Speaker 4 (14:37):
I did not know that. Well, rest in peace to
uh George Krits and his uh and prayers to his family.
Tell me about Stocktor Morgan Stoctor mortgage.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
You know, the little interest rates have kind of gone
down a little bit, so a lot of those buyers
who've been on the fence kind of making the jump
trying to get a house get it locked up before Christmas.
So if you want to do it, you got to
move fast. Rates are still maybe they think makes drop
you a little bit more. So, you know, there has
been a lot of houses out there, and the houses
that are out there have kind of the price is
still keep going up, so it's kind of been a
rough situation for buyers.

Speaker 6 (15:06):
But now the time's starting to switch a little bit.
So doctor Morris can hold your hand, get you to
the closing table, help you every step of the way.
So give him a call. Go on their website Stockton
dot com, NMLST eight two five nine Equal Housing Lender.

Speaker 4 (15:16):
One person writes, does the Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame pay anything? Maybe Chuck Chubby couldn't afford the cost
the trip they said they off, they fly everyone out,
they do, they would put them up. I'm not trying
to attack. People are saying we're attacked. I'm not. I
just feel like.

Speaker 8 (15:30):
I'm a talk.

Speaker 4 (15:34):
Yeah, just come out that Hall of Fame, Come on
and twist again. It's we did last Sun.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
The place would have gone nuts if he'd walked out
the five years old slow down.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
First of all, they would not have gone nuts. Yes,
they would hold man who would have gone nuts. His
audience is dead, eighty five years old. He goes out
there and tries to twist dead except for him, you
would have twisted.

Speaker 6 (15:58):
There's no doubt you would twisted. You would got out
to twistage. Everybody wants to twist.

Speaker 4 (16:09):
But Shannon does not believe everybody would go crazy.

Speaker 6 (16:13):
They would go nuts.

Speaker 4 (16:16):
All right, So the guy in back company that didn't
come has health issuesky, totally fine, okay with that. Meg
White apparently has severe social anxiety and has only been
out in public once in ten years. Sorry to hear that.
Understand that right. Been nice if she could have come.
That's odd for somebody who had that job for so long,
but fair enough.

Speaker 6 (16:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (16:35):
Chubby Checker apparently has been boycotting the Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame since two thousand and two because he
believes he should have been in the inaugural class.

Speaker 8 (16:45):
Slow down, slow down, buddy. He should be happy to
anybody invited.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
Then, come on, wasn't the inaugural class like the Beatles, Elvis,
Rolling Stones? Maybe I'm looking it up now and Chubby
Checkers like that?

Speaker 6 (17:01):
Should Chuck me Berry? I think Chuck Barry Berry, James Brown,
sense of self and.

Speaker 4 (17:08):
So he's been boycotting it and since then because he
thinks he should have been in.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
They shouldn't have just not even put him in. If
I'm the Hall of Fame and you say that you're
not even going in, Yes.

Speaker 4 (17:20):
Give me some names I would know, well all of them.

Speaker 5 (17:23):
Chuck Barry, James Brown, Ray, Charles, Sam Cook, Everly Brothers,
Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, Eddie Cochran, Bo Diddley, Aretha Franklin,
Marvin Gaye, B B.

Speaker 11 (17:32):
King.

Speaker 4 (17:33):
Let me keep going. It's Smokey Robinson. So he thought
he should have been in that gir.

Speaker 6 (17:37):
I do have a great fun fact about Chubby Checker.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
Okay, he his daughter is named Misty Bass who played
in the w n B A. But she's married to
Shane Boyd. Shane Boyd is Chubby Checker's son in law.
No way, Yes, Shane Boyd married.

Speaker 6 (17:55):
They're still married.

Speaker 4 (17:56):
Former Kentucky football player Shane Boyd.

Speaker 6 (17:58):
His father in law. Yes, are you kidding me?

Speaker 8 (18:04):
Brian?

Speaker 4 (18:07):
Before we did went on an anti Chubby ran, you
could have told me that like our great quarterbacks of
all time played, I didn't know.

Speaker 6 (18:15):
Thanks to the text machine, we got it.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
I feel like now we could get Chubby on the show.

Speaker 8 (18:19):
We've got a connection.

Speaker 4 (18:20):
Actually, that would probably be a great interview. Just let
him air all his complaints on the air.

Speaker 5 (18:26):
Chubby Checkers all shade boyd Ryan said during the break,
I have a good update. I didn't think it would
be anything like that.

Speaker 4 (18:34):
Wow. By the way, the individual that passed, that's his
last name, Christ is how you say it, So that's
why that gets sound like the guy.

Speaker 6 (18:40):
Said Christ Christ.

Speaker 4 (18:42):
There you go. Uh, let's go to where are we?
Let's go to Les Go ahead, Lex.

Speaker 12 (18:48):
Hey, guys, I don't know what the plans for the
entertainment district are, but I think Drew will second me
in saying that there needs to be an El Mariachi
in walking distance to Kruger Field because those pregame nachos
just hit different.

Speaker 10 (19:02):
Uh.

Speaker 12 (19:02):
Secondly, I'm thirty five.

Speaker 5 (19:04):
I'm not young enough do what the Texas nachos had
them too.

Speaker 12 (19:09):
Oh yeah, yeah, So I'm thirty five. I'm not young
enough to be in the college crowd that wants STUPI
is gone. But I'm also not old enough to be
like totally settled. Here's here's my question. If we didn't
have the buyout, which we do, and I think we
should keep him because of it if we didn't have
the buyout. Are you okay with being okay?

Speaker 4 (19:28):
Or so yeah?

Speaker 12 (19:29):
Where do we where do we want to do we
want to try to be the next Iu? Do we
want to try to be the next Vandy? Or are
we okay with being okay?

Speaker 4 (19:38):
Completely fair question, my over the My answer shame's in
the last five years. My answer five years ago would
have been I'm okay with being okay. Now, I think it's
plausible to make a move. Here's where I am today Now.
I might be different in two games. If we go
get blown out the next the last two games, that's different.
Where I am today is I think it would be
better for the program to have a new do something

(20:02):
okay I do. However, I also don't think you can
fire him with a thirty seven million dollars biot if
he goes to a Bogan. So that's right, That's exactly
where I am. I appreciate the call. I mean it's
one of those would it be better? It'd be sort
of like let's say cow had beatn Oakland got into
the Sweet sixteen lost by twelve that year. That would

(20:22):
have been one of those that would have been like, well,
we got to bring him back, but it would be
kind of nice to have somebody else. That's kind of
where I am now. If we finished seven and five
and we have momentum and cutters back and then all
of a sudden, maybe it's not like that, you.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
Know, and that's not crazy to even mention that that's
still possible. I think the football program, you know, us
old timers, we remember how bad it was for a
long long time. So for us to get to five
and seven and six and six, it's still to me
a big accomplishment. Can they ever get to where Indiana
and Vandy is now?

Speaker 4 (20:58):
They can? Why can't? Now I would have said no,
they can't, but now they clearly can't because it can
we do Fandy Indian again, Big ten's a little different,
although I think Indian is legit. If Fandy can do it,
there's no reason we can't do it, right.

Speaker 5 (21:12):
Oh, definitely, I mean they can do it when we can't. Yeah,
they're the sec example. But the top twenty five this
year and the playoff picture has been full of teams
that we thought never would have gotten that conversation. Yeah,
and I think a reset will be good for both parties,
but we cannot ask the man to get us back
to a bowl game. If you gets you back to
a bowl game, like, well, all right, we're firing when
you gotta find thirty eight million. If he goes bowling,

(21:33):
There's just nothing you can do about it. There's nothing
Mitch Barnhart would do about it.

Speaker 4 (21:37):
I think you're exactly right about that. Let's go to uh, Roddy,
what's up Roddy?

Speaker 10 (21:43):
Hey?

Speaker 11 (21:44):
Boys?

Speaker 13 (21:45):
First time, long time?

Speaker 4 (21:46):
Who are.

Speaker 10 (21:49):
So?

Speaker 13 (21:49):
I'm a senior here at UK and I just wanted
to tell you all a comment one of my out
of state friends, mate, I was so happy after the game.
I could not stop smiling after what I grew up watching.
And my buddy said, what are you so happy about?
We we kind of owned Florida, So I think we
should give Stoops credit for the fact that people think
we owned Florida.

Speaker 4 (22:09):
A lot of truth though, that we do own Florida.
I mean we've won four the last five, yes, three
straight home. I mean the idea that you would have
Stoops has I appreciate the call owned Florida he has,
which is an amazing thing. I mean, it's it's a
testament in some part to Florida, but it's also a
testament to soups.

Speaker 9 (22:26):
See.

Speaker 4 (22:26):
I mean he owns it.

Speaker 5 (22:27):
Before he snapped that streak at twenty eighteen, there's no
scenario where I would have believed me if you've told
me that they were gonna win three games against the
Florida Gators in Lexington in a row, I wouldn't have
believed that is possible. And now he's done it. The
four out of five, he's really had their number, even
in the dips, the sec streaks. He's always gotten Florida
since he's not always.

Speaker 4 (22:46):
But you have their number.

Speaker 11 (22:47):
One.

Speaker 4 (22:47):
We beat them. We were close every year, every game
came down to the end.

Speaker 5 (22:51):
We had one at home, should have won holding call.
You got the one. Yeah, I mean he's been in
that fight all but maybe like the Drew Barker team
got killed that time.

Speaker 4 (22:59):
Yeah, did you catch with that?

Speaker 6 (23:00):
Guy said? He goes. He was smiling because of what
he grew up with. He was grew he was a
youth when they won ten games twice.

Speaker 4 (23:08):
He was a youth. Yeah, it's like the oldest thing
you've ever said. He was a youth.

Speaker 6 (23:13):
He was a youngster and they win ten games and
he's crying.

Speaker 4 (23:15):
He was a whipper snapper eight five eighty seven. I
can't believe this is Shane Boyd's father in law. We'll
be right back, dude.

Speaker 6 (23:27):
Place would go nuts.

Speaker 4 (23:28):
Shan TJ. Smith, personal injury attorney, called TJ. He'll make
them pay.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.

Speaker 8 (23:37):
Here's Matt Jones.

Speaker 4 (23:39):
So I was most excited though, Shannon that Warren's Zvonn
made it great to see David let him in there.
They played Lawyers guns and money was a song the
Killers played it. They was all right. They had some
of his original band that had me listening to Warren's
zyvon all weekend. I don't know how many people out
there except me and David let him. Men are just

(24:00):
huge warrens zvon fans. There can't be a lot, but
it was nice. We actually had a caller to the
Pollen Collin Show, the Post Game Show say hey, I'm
listening to you and watching Warren's Zvon on the Yes,
but this is one of his It got me down
a rabbit hole yes day of reading the lyrics of
his songs. They're bizarre like this one. The lyrics of

(24:21):
this song are dark, even though turn it up, listen
to how happy it sounds. Yeah, man, but we're not gonna.
I'm not eve gonna. Don't even read the lyrics. But
it just sounds like a fun song, right Shannon, Oh yeah,
And then you read the lyrics where Wolves of London
is the same way, like everybody knows where wolves of London.
But go listen to lyrics, Like I think that's the

(24:43):
whole point of his his thing is, like you can
just hide these lyrics if you just have a fun song.

Speaker 6 (24:48):
And call it excitable boy, you think it's a happy song.

Speaker 4 (24:51):
Yeah, it's about this dude who this boy who does
horrible things, but everybody just excuses it by saying, well,
he's an excitable boy.

Speaker 6 (24:59):
So anyway, I don't want to know.

Speaker 4 (25:01):
That, don't but but.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
I don built a cage with their bones exactly.

Speaker 14 (25:06):
That's turn now you know that's the lyrics that turned up. Yeah,
it just sounds much happier than the lyrics anyway. The
nine eight And did you say Jim Carrey inducted somebody
sound Garden?

Speaker 8 (25:20):
Yeah, I didn't know.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
Apparently Jim Carrey is a big fan of the band
back in the nineties, and when he was a special
guest host on Saturday Night Live, he insisted that Sound
Garden be the musical guest.

Speaker 4 (25:30):
What is the last movie Jim Carrey?

Speaker 8 (25:32):
I don't even know, man, it's I mean, Jim.

Speaker 4 (25:34):
Carrey was a massive star that it seems like has
just decided I will not be in the spotlight anymore.

Speaker 5 (25:40):
He does those those son movies.

Speaker 4 (25:42):
Yeah, Sonic was he Sonic the Hedgehog?

Speaker 9 (25:45):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (25:46):
Yeah, he's done Sonic and Sonic two. They've got two
of them now, No, they've had more than.

Speaker 4 (25:50):
Two on the lead. My god, James Marsden does those.

Speaker 10 (25:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (25:54):
I mean, I guess Jim just likes, uh making a
boatload of money off doing the Sonic franchise.

Speaker 4 (25:59):
Because I mean, he's in some great movies. I mean,
Truman Show is a great movie. I saw they were
going to remake that. No, why would you remake that?

Speaker 6 (26:07):
True?

Speaker 4 (26:07):
It's perfect? Why would you do that again?

Speaker 5 (26:09):
Stop remaking movies, especially like that one. Jim Carrey. Dumb
and Dumber was almost ruined the original for me. Yes,
but I mean they're going to remake it without him.
It was just gonna be the same movie again with
somebody else.

Speaker 4 (26:22):
Why would you do that? That movie was perfect. Man
on the Moon, Yeah, great. And then of course Ace
vent Tura and The Mask and all that.

Speaker 8 (26:32):
Sunshine Eternal Sunshine.

Speaker 4 (26:34):
Yeah, that's one of my face You love that movie.

Speaker 8 (26:36):
Too, right, my all time favorite movie.

Speaker 4 (26:38):
That's a top twenty movie for me. It's Shannon's number one.

Speaker 6 (26:42):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (26:43):
And then he just doesn't do anything anymore.

Speaker 6 (26:45):
We disappeared like it was a recluse for a long time,
wasn't he.

Speaker 4 (26:48):
That's one of the great documentaries on TV is on Netflix,
the documentary about him making Man on the movie that. Yeah,
that is one of them. If you I don't remember
what it's called, maybe it's called Me and Andy.

Speaker 8 (27:02):
Or something like that like that, I think it is.

Speaker 4 (27:05):
You need to watch. That's one of the great documentaries
I've ever seen.

Speaker 6 (27:08):
That scene where Andy Kaufman's family come to talk to
him and they start crying because.

Speaker 4 (27:12):
They because he won't get out of character and they
think they're talking to Andy Coffin Yep, yep. Jerry Lawler
is in that documentary a lot.

Speaker 8 (27:20):
Jim and Andy is what it's called the Great.

Speaker 4 (27:22):
And yeah, it's great, all right.

Speaker 5 (27:24):
I have one thing on the Sonic franchise. I found
an interview he says he does Sonic because I need
the money, frankly for what.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (27:33):
That's why he came back to do Sonic movies.

Speaker 4 (27:37):
Wow, Poe, go ahead, Poe.

Speaker 11 (27:41):
Hey guys, God bless show and God bless her troops.

Speaker 4 (27:45):
God bless you.

Speaker 11 (27:48):
Thank you. I wanted to say I saw Chubby Chicker
about twenty five years ago at Rhythm Roots in Bristol.

Speaker 4 (27:56):
Rhythm and.

Speaker 11 (27:59):
Rhythm and Root, Okay, Yeah, and.

Speaker 4 (28:04):
He plays the Kentucky State Fair about once every five years,
so I'm surprised Shennon hasn't never come across him. Yeah.

Speaker 11 (28:13):
Well, I wanted to say I laughed about Ryan He
he got that dude off there on YouTube. And now
Tom Hartbetter will be looking behind his shoulder.

Speaker 4 (28:24):
Yeah. Uh, well you it's nice to talk with you, sir.
Appreciate you. Uh, go ahead, go ahead, go ahead.

Speaker 11 (28:33):
I think it will be awesome if we do get
I think we can beat Littleville. I don't know about Vandy.
We can beat Vandy, but I don't know if we will,
but we can beat little and it will be awesome
if we made the Liberty Bowl and face two Lane
and summer On just had a twist off the suits.

Speaker 4 (28:54):
But I'll take that. I'll take that. Which is more
likely now? Win the basketball game too Tuesday or win
the football game in two weeks against Louisville.

Speaker 5 (29:05):
Oh, that's a tough one. I'm gonna say basketball, even
though I I oddly feel good about both.

Speaker 14 (29:13):
Now.

Speaker 5 (29:14):
I know that part of that is just rooted in
my hatred for Louisville. But the way the defense is played,
and then seeing their complaints about their own quarterback over
the weekend give me some optimism there. And then, as
Ryan noted to start the show, the Kentucky basketball team
that played Friday night, they're gonna give about anybody troubles
wherever the game is.

Speaker 4 (29:31):
They don't like, they don't like their quarterback at Louisville.
What do you think which one's more likely?

Speaker 6 (29:36):
I'm gonna go with Dree.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
I'm gonna say basketball because I'm just a riding on
that high on Friday. Nobody's beating that team we saw
on the first half Friday night. Nobody that team was
the best team in the country.

Speaker 4 (29:45):
I feel very good. If this game was winning normally
would be that we would win. I just I don't
know if we're gonna win immediately first time. I wish
they played an environment other than Rupp Arena before we
went there.

Speaker 6 (29:57):
This has to be the earliest true road game we've
had in forever.

Speaker 4 (30:03):
I would think that's probably true. But I also think,
leave aside having to listen to them talk trash, I
think there's like it's kind of a no lose situation
for Kentucky if it was anyone but Louisville. Because it's Louisville.
You don't want to lose. Yeah, right, But you know
you don't win a lot of true road games against
big teams right off the bat, yeah do you? I mean,

(30:27):
already in the very few big time games on home floors,
the home teams won all of them. Between two really
good teams, you know, North Carolina beat Kansas, Michigan State Arkansas.
There'll be more of them, but I'm pretty excited.

Speaker 9 (30:44):
See.

Speaker 5 (30:44):
I mean, Kentucky fans get in. Remember we bought up
the upper level of what was available there about a
month ago. I mean, Louisville will still have the dominant crowd.
They're not checked out like they were two years ago
when Kentucky took over, but I think there'll be some
a good shade of blue in there taking over as
much as they can.

Speaker 4 (30:58):
Kentucky, Joe go ahead.

Speaker 7 (31:01):
Yes, uh man, that's a good show today. I believe
Kentucky can win. I mean both of the grunts.

Speaker 9 (31:08):
Matches against Louis.

Speaker 7 (31:11):
I hope off pers in football. And the thing is,
I wrote those songs because I thought I thought this
team would be special. This team is special.

Speaker 4 (31:20):
Now what were you a d Were you a Chubby
Checker fan?

Speaker 7 (31:26):
Yeah? Oh yeah yeah. I went out there. Yeah, yes, yes, yes, man,
I went out there. I went out there to the
Uh it was a derby, No, no, it was during
the Entucky Oaks or about probably twenty years ago. And
I got out there and did the twist.

Speaker 4 (31:47):
You did the twist at the Kentucky Oaks in what context?

Speaker 10 (31:51):
Yes?

Speaker 7 (31:52):
Huh wow?

Speaker 4 (31:54):
In what context?

Speaker 7 (31:57):
No? No, no, he was doing he was doing the
twists he did for about four or five minutes.

Speaker 4 (32:04):
You're telling me the Checker Chummy Checker performed at the
Kentucky Oaks.

Speaker 9 (32:10):
Oh yes, I.

Speaker 4 (32:12):
Don't know if I believe that.

Speaker 12 (32:14):
Probably twenty years ago, I guess when, like right.

Speaker 4 (32:18):
Before the race started he just went out in the
middle of the track and did the twist.

Speaker 7 (32:23):
No, no, no, it was down in It was actually
the infield and you know it's out of construction.

Speaker 4 (32:29):
Now, okay, I'm gonna pay.

Speaker 7 (32:33):
He kind of looked pretty good, really man.

Speaker 4 (32:36):
Yeah, well, I appreciate the call.

Speaker 5 (32:38):
Two thousand and five, guess who was the grand Marshal
of the Derby Parade?

Speaker 4 (32:42):
No? He was?

Speaker 6 (32:43):
Was he?

Speaker 4 (32:43):
Chubby Checker was the Grand Marshal of the Derby Parade
and so so Joe's right. He probably did do.

Speaker 5 (32:50):
The s He did the Thursday parade. Then he was
at the Oaks Race on Friday than the Derby on Saturday.

Speaker 4 (32:56):
They say. In two thousand and two, Chubby Checker up
a booth outside the Hall of Fame ceremony and twisted
to protest not being in the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 5 (33:07):
Hung did twist. I'm not a fan. I'm gonna listen
to Chubby Checker on the way home.

Speaker 4 (33:15):
Wait. Can you imagine you go to the ceremony and
just standing up Checker twisted. I wouldn't go in stay
out there with him? What a protest? One year after
nine to eleven, Chan and Chubby Checkers standing up for
what he believes it does.

Speaker 3 (33:31):
Every song of his have twist in the title.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
Well, let me read you a couple of titles here,
somebody just sit me. Here we go the twist. Yeah,
for Twisters only. Let's twist again for Team Twisters only.
Calm down, Chubby, don't knock the twist twisting around the world,
Chubby Checker in person, twisting in Texas. Wow, he knows

(34:00):
his money maker is milking the cow. Good business man.
You know some people try to like expand their repertoire.
Not Chubby.

Speaker 5 (34:07):
No, here's one called Plut's twist.

Speaker 4 (34:09):
Again is the name of the song. Oh yeah, twisted
in Texas. He should have done that for every state.

Speaker 8 (34:14):
Is the first one I played.

Speaker 4 (34:15):
Now we're twisting in North Dakota.

Speaker 6 (34:19):
Now we're twisted in Kentucky.

It is to train.

Speaker 4 (35:09):
Dude. Man, you talk about just milking it, milking a life. Though.

Speaker 3 (35:13):
There's also one called the Pepperminte Twist. Well it's for Christmas,
right right, Yeah, he got one for every occasion.

Speaker 4 (35:21):
Oh man, you know, what are you gonna do? What
person rides Matt? In the early nineties in Lexington, Chubby
Checker came. He had a contest on stage for who
could shake it the best? And I won?

Speaker 8 (35:33):
You won? What would you win.

Speaker 4 (35:36):
A Chubby Checker? Well played eight five eighty seven? What
person rides Matt? You're a fair weather friend of Mark Stoop.
Sure we've had a rough rough patch, but you've been
willing to drive the bandwagon for a change from the
very start of the year. You should have renamed your
show to the fire Mark Stoop Show. Maybe you're the

(35:58):
one who's had a good run and now the KSR
Show needs a change. A highly doubt you'll respond to
this well. I mean, the second part would be your opinion,
but the first part was my opinion, which is I
you know, I do like Mark Stoops. I've said many times,
I don't know that I would say we were our friends,
were like very good acquaintances. But I do like him.

(36:22):
But that does not you do not make decisions on
what should be the future of a public institution's sport,
its program by who is your friend. You know, that's
what gets people the wrong if you look at government,
or you look at sports, or you look at anything.
If you just say, well, this is my friend and
then we're going to do it, then you end up

(36:42):
making bad decisions. Mark Stoops, if you only went through
the first half of the season, would not have deserved
to remain the coach at Kentucky. Now we're kind of
a halfway through the second half of the season and
things look different, and let's see how it finishes. But
you know this is not this is not the goal

(37:02):
of friends. Told I've told you. I've had two friends
since I did this, Dwayne Peevee and Vince Marrow. And
Dwayne was great. Vince had the issue when he left,
and it makes it hard, makes it hard when you're
friends with people. And I don't think I'll do it
again for that reason, because it does make it hard.

Speaker 2 (37:18):
I don't think that callers being the text is being
fair at all. I mean, at not one time we're
demanding Stoops be fired. We just said if they lose
out or only win four games, it's a no brainer decision.
We were not leaving the charge of getting fired immediately.

Speaker 4 (37:30):
And what do you I mean, would you say Mitch
Barnhardt is probably friends with Mark Stoops. Would you write
Mitch Barnhart and say you're a fair weather friend if
you decide to make a change, like that's a tear.
You know. Part of the problem we had with cal
is he kept his friends in place when they.

Speaker 6 (37:45):
Weren't serving him well.

Speaker 4 (37:47):
Right. Friendship is a private thing. When it comes to
business or public thing, you have to judge performance and
all of this.

Speaker 5 (37:56):
I hate when people are like motivated, no it's wins
and losses. They lost a eleven straight home games. That's frustrating.
You want to change on you. Yeah, when he goes
into the Florida game, you have to win that or
that street continues another season. He's an underdog on his
home field. It's hard to be optimistic when you're an underdog.
He won it by a lot. It's now the Monday

(38:16):
after and we're saying, good job. It's all about the
wins and losses.

Speaker 4 (38:19):
And I mean I've now gone through this with Tubby Smith,
Billy Gillespie, Joker Phillips, and Rich Brooks and Mark Stoops,
which is anytime you get to this turmoil in John
cal Perry where you're not sure whether or not you
want to coach or not, the natural reaction is when
people disagree with you about the opinion, you must be biased.

(38:40):
They can't just be the case that I disagree with you.
I mean obviously we had that with cal It happens again.
Like you know what, sometimes in life, Texter, people are
going to disagree with you and it doesn't make them stupid.
It makes them disagree with you. And on this I
was not ready to say fire Mark Stoops, but remember
two weeks ago, I was getting hateful messages of people going,

(39:02):
how could you not call for him to be fired? Yes, yeah,
you know, so everybody has. I can just give my
opinion of what it is, and you should do the same. David,
go ahead, David, Hey, Matt, how you guys doing doing good?
What's up?

Speaker 12 (39:19):
Good?

Speaker 15 (39:21):
Number one? Most importantly free chubby Checker. I mean, Pretto
much anti Chubby Checker going on. Secondly, in the first
half we and this in the first half, Cutter Bowley
looked really color and gout tempo and as you sell
by his body language, he felt much more like in

(39:44):
control of the offense. Now could he have done that
free games ago? Probably not. However, he's kind of growing
into kind of what you know, whatever it is like
a being in charge the offense. Of course that Stoops
blessus hard. It's like he wants to play like Iowa
all the time. But sometimes if you got somebody really good,
you gotta go with it.

Speaker 4 (40:04):
Yeah to go, And I think Stoops's view and I
appreciate the calls. He doesn't want to get bown out
in some of these games. He thinks, like against the Georgia,
the best chances to play like that, but it did
look Drew like cutter Bowley likes being up tempo more
than not.

Speaker 5 (40:17):
Yeah, and Bowlie, since what was that first game went
into the Eastern Michigan whatever that was. Yeah, you know,
he still needed time to start playing well. But just
from looking comfortable, he looks so much more comfortable than
our seventh year quarterback. And just each game he's getting
more and more comfortable. I know it's not much, but
when he picks up a first down and hops up
and throws that arm forward, or he's head button his teammates,
that's just a guy that's locked into the game, as

(40:38):
opposed to what we were seeing early in the year
looking on the sideline confusion. I mean, it looks like
he's really feeling and being a part of the rhythm.

Speaker 4 (40:45):
Steve, go ahead, Hey guys, what's up?

Speaker 9 (40:51):
Uh? I think if we're not going to make a
complete toaching change this year, you got to get rid
of bread White. As you know, the last two games
it looked really good. But you can count on him
laying at least three to four eggs every year.

Speaker 4 (41:07):
I mean, the only game this year where I think
the defense has looked really bad was Tennessee.

Speaker 9 (41:15):
Uh, there was a couple others in there where It's
just nobody looked like they knew what they were doing.
And I just hope the next league is not against
is not against Tennessee Tech.

Speaker 4 (41:27):
Yeah, well, I appreciate the call. I mean, obviously I
hope it's not against Tennessee Tech either, But you know,
I mean he had us to where we were in
the game against Georgia and O miss. I mean, we
had a shot in the game against Texas. Tennessee's really
the only bad one for the SEC game.

Speaker 6 (41:44):
Yeah, Tennessee is really the South Carolina did. We had
trouble with South Carolina.

Speaker 4 (41:48):
Have a little trouble with South Carolina.

Speaker 2 (41:49):
South Carolina and Tennessee the other games. I think Brad
White's defense has been to steal a line from Mark
Pope elite, elite, elite in the last three of the
last four games.

Speaker 4 (42:00):
Line from Mark Pope.

Speaker 6 (42:01):
Oh, he uses it. He says it all the time,
like Jasper Johnson is elite, elite elite?

Speaker 4 (42:05):
Does he say that? Okay, Mario was gonna give you
He's gonna say yes.

Speaker 6 (42:10):
I feel like Malcolm Reno elite, elite, elite.

Speaker 4 (42:13):
We'll tell you what else is Elite Court physical therapy.
If you are in pain, there's no reason to be it.
You know, we got a month and a half left.

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
