Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome everyone.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
It is the Local Toy Dealers KSR Postgame Show. The
Cats win an easy one against Eastern Illinois and take
home the prestigious BBN United Classic.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
Who's It?
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Presented by Billy Kentucky Tourism Kentucky Tourism. Uh, and we
are glad to cut down the nets here on the
Local Toy Dealers KSR postgame Show. Cats win by forty
six and led from moment one. Game was never in
question and Kentucky gets the victory. You can give a
(00:35):
shout eight five to nine, two eighth, twenty two eighty seven.
We will take your calls tonight, getting ready for big weekend. Obviously,
the Cats play tomorrow as well. In football.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
Let's just.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
Really two different things to talk about. First, the game,
I thought Kentucky actually played really well. I said great
on social media, and we had a lot of sort
of negative folks saying it wasn't.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
Great, it was it was bad, or it was just serviceable.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
You know, you win by forty six and you're up
by thirty at halftime, I'm gonna take it.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
I thought a lot of good things happen.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
First of all, you look at this roster for Eastern
Illinois tallest player six seven. You need to dominate him inside.
They dominated him inside pretty much. All the bigs had
nice point nights. You should do that when you're taller
than the other team, and then they did so I'm
not going to complain about that at all. They dominated
on the glass, you know, just sitting here looking at
(01:35):
the stats, Kentucky had Diabate had twenty, Garrison only six,
but Yellowvich with eleven. Moreno, with eleven. They out rebound
him forty nine to seventeen. That's an insane number, Billy.
I'm not sure I've ever seen a forty nine to
seventeen that is rebounding.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Discription scene, Yeah, that's crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Shoots sixty one percent from the field, that's pretty good.
Thirty six percent from three decent. Not great, but we'll
take it. Twenty one assist you like that. You know,
free throw line they didn't take very many, but twelve
for sixteen, So overall, I'm good with it. The one
negative number you sit and look at it is thirteen turnovers.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
That's too many.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
But a lot of those, I mean, you gotta have
a little bit of context. A lot of those are
at the end of the game when the game's over.
I mean we were up forty two with thirteen minutes
to go. I think at that point maybe we had
seven turnovers. You get six in the last little bit.
I mean, I'm not gonna get upset about that. It's
it's hard to keep your interest when you're up forty three.
(02:44):
In general, my sort of wonders about the team, though,
are still there. I mentioned Brandon Garrison only have six
You know I still watching the game.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
I don't. Well. First of all, I'll say the positive.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
Diabat was excellent, twenty points, eight for nine, high energy.
I loved he needed a bounce back double double because
I don't really think he played very well against against Louisville.
I thought he was really good. It was good to
see Aberdeen continue. Had twenty sixty other night thirteen tonight,
he ran the point.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
Thought he played well.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Jasper Johnson little inconsistent, but especially in the second half.
Thought you saw some good stuff from Jasper. He's gonna
have to be the backup point guard. If you listen
to the game, the announcers, who clearly had been talking
with Pope said basically, he's gonna get run at backup
point guard.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
I think that's a good decision. Good to see that.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
So I'm generally happy Cam Williams came in hit two threes.
That's what we want to see, you know.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
Negatives.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
I'm still a little concerned about O Way. I mean,
he had twelve, He gets twelve in his sleep. He still, though,
to me, looks a little lackadaisical and just doesn't He
doesn't completely look to me like the guy I saw
last year. And I thought Jack Gibbons Goose had a
really good point on the postgame show against Michigan State.
(04:06):
They are one of, if not the most physical teams
in the country. They are also a team that gets
out in transition. They're kind of like they sprint up
the floor. They either get you with a layup or
then they run a long set. That's the way they play.
Try to get transition or if they don't get it,
then let's set up our offense. On defense, they're gonna
be the most physical team we play. Probably they're gonna
(04:29):
beat you, They're gonna bang you. It's gonna be a
real test to me for Oway. Jack said this, so
I'm stealing his point. But will Way be the O
Way from last year? Take it to the basket, draw fouls,
draw the defense, or will he settle for threes from outside?
That's gonna be the question. Which O way is it
(04:49):
gonna be? That Michigan State game will tell me a
lot about where he is, because the Louisville game he
was bad, and then even tonight, I just I just
haven't felt like I've seen the Otega that I saw
last year. Defensively, by the way, I thought Tucky was
really good. We held him to what was it, nineteen
in the first half. That's a pretty amazing number, especially
(05:11):
when you consider that nine of them were three threes
on back to back to back place. So in a
minute we gave up nine and the other nineteen minutes,
I think we gave up ten points. That's pretty good.
At the end, it gets sloppy. We foiled a lot.
I gotta be honest with you, I don't care whatever
this game was over. At that point, Michigan State becomes
a very important game and we'll have a lot.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
Of time to preview it. Now.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
What I was the most interested in it after the
first half was all right, well, what's Mark gonna say about?
First of all, jaylen Lowe, I give Mark Pope credit.
I think he's a lot more honest about injuries once
you get him to talk.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
It's interesting to Bill. I feel like he's a lot.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
More honest with the fans on that postgame radio show
than he is with the media. I'm not saying he's
not being honest with the media, but he's a lot
more open.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
Yeah, I wants to give him a little extra act.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
I think he just likes talking to the fans. I
think that I agree with you.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
I think there's some about when the fans are sitting
there looking at him and they've stayed after the game.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
He just wants to be more open.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
He said about Jaylen Lowe essentially said very similar injury.
Now it's just about and I think what he said
was sitting with his with our medical staff, his family,
and his agents. You don't even go say agents, but
he did, right, he did say that correct and making
(06:36):
a decision, and that's a you know, we'll see. I mean,
there's a lot for it sounds like to me, and
I've talked to a couple people that you a couple
of who have written me, who work on these injuries,
like he's gonna have an unstable shoulder all year, which
means this can happen again, and it can happen again,
(06:57):
and at some point he's gonna have to get that fixed.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
So do you want to do it now or do
you want to wait and do it later?
Speaker 2 (07:05):
And I don't know what the downside of waiting to
do it later is, but I would guess there must be.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Some Maybe it's just pain. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
Gotta remember, he still has another year of College of eligibility.
If he stops now, he might have two. So what
happens if you play eight games, lose your second year
of eligibility and then get hurt. So they're probably thinking
about all that, and he says they're going to decide
over the next few days, so we'll see. Luckily it's
(07:34):
not a worse injury or he would have already had surgery,
so that's good. Then there was the whole Louisville thing,
the pregame Louisville thing, which he.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
Gave two completely different answers.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
To in his two postgame comments in the comments to
the media. Here's what he said in the comments to
the media. There's really not much to it. At some point,
I'll tell you the story, but i'd like you guys
to prognosticate on that for a couple more days. It
(08:09):
really is nothing. And then he quoted Taylor Swift. What
did he say about Taylor Swift.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
I didn't hear this.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
To the media, so I didn't hear it because I
just saw it on Twitter. So he said something about
Taylor Swift, which, yeah, I don't know. I mean, I
like Taylor Swift, but like, I don't know if this
is the time to bring up Taylor Swift. But he said,
I'm a big Taylor Swift fan, and I just love
to leave out these things that keep everybody wondering and guessing.
(08:39):
It really is nothing. It's just something about the emotional
level of the team. So I have to tell you
I didn't really like that answer, just because I love
Mark Pope, But like, this isn't the time to screw
with us. You know, we just lost to Louisville three
days ago. We don't know if our point guard is
going to play. I don't think this is the time
(09:01):
to put like B side album drops. You know, if
you're gonna say something happened before the Louisville game, just
say it.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
Well, I kind of.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
Wonder, Billy if between when he talked to the media
and he walked out and talked to the fans. I
kind of wonder somebody UK said to him, Hey, can
we stop.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
All this teasing?
Speaker 4 (09:24):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (09:24):
Really, well, I say.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
That because then he said something different to the fans.
To the fans on the postgame show, he said, we
are very meticulous about our emotions, but we don't want
to be controlled by them. And then he told this
story about how they do this thing before the game.
The goal leading up to the game is to keep
your emotions in check, and then right before the game
(09:47):
they flip the switch, is what he says. He does
something where they flip the switch and like say, get
really pumped up. That's how I listened to it. And
he said, quote, we flipped the switch in the locker
room an hour and a half too early, and that
hurt us. So I don't really know what that means.
(10:12):
I guess that means they do some kind of thing
where it's like, you know.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Game time.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
I don't know, I guess. I mean, I have no
idea because I'm not there, so I don't know. But
he says, we did it an hour and a half
too early. Now the question is Why would that matter.
I guess it could matter if you know some of
the rumors we've heard about, you know, potentially interactions with
fans or interactions with each other, if those were true.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
He said he would say more about it later. I
just have to tell you, but I don't like this thing.
I don't know why he's doing this. I think Drew
said it really well in the pregame show. We all,
both the fans and the team need to move on
from the Louisville game, and this kind of.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
Like teasing back and forth of what happened. I just
don't know what that does for anybody.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
Oh, he's kind of laughing about it, you know, poping
funny how they're overreacting about a comment he made.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
But you know, the last person that did that was
cal the sort of I don't think laughing at the
fan base is a great idea, especially after we just
lost to Louisville.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
Now, he did say.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
In the postgame like we're embarrassed by the performance we
gave you against Louisville, and he thanked the fans for
come out.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
See.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
I love that about Pope. He doesn't scold Kentucky fans.
For being upset about the game. Our previous coach would
do that, he'd scold us for being mad about losses.
Pope does not do that. He recognizes we lost and
that is bad. So I give him. I give him
(11:49):
a lot of credit for for doing that, But I
don't understand the desire to kind of keep this story going.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
Do you disagree?
Speaker 3 (12:01):
No, No, not at all. This is kind of his
first misstep.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
To me. I think it's a misstep. I do.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
I think it's a misstep, and I think it's a
misstep born out of, like I don't know.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
I'm not sure why.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
He's doing But either way, I hope he just gets
rid of it before the Michigan State game. Either way,
it's not the end of the world. I think Kentucky
actually played well tonight. You beat Michigan State, a lot
of these things will go away. He did also note
there were two other things I thought were interesting. Number One,
he noted that he thinks the biggest problem against Louisville
(12:37):
was not getting back on transition, which Jay Billis pointed
out a lot during the game. He said, they did
a thing tonight where if you didn't sprint in the
last ten minutes of the game, he was going to
make you run seventeens. I think seventeens are apparently some
kind of sprint drill, and that in the last ten
minutes you can see those guys going crazy. And he
(12:58):
essentially said the next home game, which I think against
Loyal and Maryland, they're going to do.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
It the whole game.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
And then, well, I've always in my mind's already slipped
on what the second one was.
Speaker 1 (13:10):
What was the second one?
Speaker 3 (13:11):
He said, I'm not sure.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
All right, I'll think of it.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
He had a second comment I thought was important, But
I do like that he recognized that in the Louisville game.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
Getting back on defense was maybe the most important issue.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
So if I'm nine to eighth twenty two eighty seven, Uh,
what did you think about the game?
Speaker 1 (13:30):
What do you think about the low news? What would you.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
Do if you were Jalen Lowe knowing what we know
about the injury, which is it could happen again, but
also he might be the player most crucial to us
having a chance.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
To win the national championship. Oh well, oh, I remember
what it was.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
He said, I'm a little upset with how behind I
am with these guys basically thinking they should.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
Be better than they are.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
It's another thing I give him credit for being honest
about how many coaches would come out and say, we're
just not as good as I think we should.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
Be right now.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
None.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
None, They would all just tell you to be patient.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
He's like, I am disappointed that I'm still having to
teach basic stuff and that's on me. I just I
appreciate him saying that. I appreciate his honesty. I just
wish he would just end the pregame little story A five'
nine twenty two eighty seven. We will take a break
and be right back. It's a local toy Dealers KSR
post game show.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
Welcome back.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
It is a local toy dealers KSR postgame show. A
couple open lines, slower phones tonight. This is the kind
of night that that happens, though they sort of bad
non conference games when we win by forty, So this
is a good chance for you to get in.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
UH.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
Women's coach Kenny Brooks is gonna join us here in
the next segment.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
Uh. He's got a big.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
Game coming up tomorrow and then next week, and we're
gonna check him with his his team. I don't know
if we've ever had a coach on the postgame show
that wasn't you Can you ever remember us doing that.
Speaker 3 (14:58):
Having one not who had just currently played in the
game we're talking about.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
I like that though, by the way I said, it
doesn't happen very much with the rebound margin. The last
time in Kentucky won the rebound margin by thirty two.
According to Big Blue History, this is only the second
time that's happened since.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
Nineteen ninety eight.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
We out rebounded Vanity by thirty nine and ninety eight,
in Ohio by thirty six and twenty twenty one. So
that's in part when people say, well, why do you
think the game was great? We have like the third
largest rebound margin in the last thirty years.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
It's pretty good. I think that makes it a pretty good,
pretty good game. A f i' nine two eight twenty
two eighty seven Ari, who's up first? Brad, Brad, go ahead, Brad.
Speaker 5 (15:47):
Hey, it's up Fellas. So we blew out Wagner. So
that was good. We did, you know, we didn't have
a good offensive game. But issues I did see was
we played some rotations that I don't think we're gonna
be able to play against Michigan, say, I was hoping
to see a little bit more, you know, play in
(16:10):
regards to messing with the rotations.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
Like who would you have wanted to see? Uh?
Speaker 5 (16:17):
Well, like, I don't think we can have Garrison and
Moe playing together. You're almost essentially three on five offensively.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
Well, I mean I agree with you.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
If there was ever gonna be a game where you
could do it, though, it would be Michigan State, you know.
I mean, like, if there was gonna be any game
this year that you could play two dudes like that together,
it'd probably be them because they're a physical team that
probably will have two guys like that in the game
at the same time. So I don't disagree with you.
I think against a lot of our schedule, you don't
want to play those two guys together, but you actually
(16:50):
might want to.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
Do it against them.
Speaker 5 (16:53):
Yeah, I mean another three guys I would really like
to see grow this year, and I think they can.
They showed first as they can is a cam Yellow bitch,
and I guess I mean he's already showing him a Chandler.
I think Chandler is going to discontinue to build upon.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
His success well, he is your m VP by the
way of the BBN classic.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
Oh is that right?
Speaker 5 (17:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (17:22):
Yeah, they named him MVP. He gets he gets an
m v P trophy.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
So uh, he only had four points tonight, but his
past performances made him m VP.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
Sure. Uh yeah.
Speaker 5 (17:33):
And then on the on the Oway thing, it just
seems like he's checked out. I don't know if you
guys saw that. There was a pretty odd picture pregame
before you l and he was in the street clothes,
I think during a walk walk through, So I don't understanding.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
Yeah, but there were other guys in the street closing
that picture. I mean, he wasn't the only one. I mean,
he was the obvious one, but there were there were
a couple other guys.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
I'm with you.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
I don't want to say checked out because I appreciate
the call that that makes it sound.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
Like he's not like he's not he doesn't care. It
does not.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
Feel like though, the way that we've had where he
is locked in one hundred percent effort attacks the basket,
diving for every loose ball. It doesn't feel like we've
seen that yet. And I don't know why, but I
think Michigan State will be the best test because that's
(18:26):
a team that plays like that, right, So that's a
team where.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
They're all always.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
In some ways. So let's see, let's see you match that.
I think I think it's you know, Jack said it earlier.
I think that's gonna be a huge test. Is what
is Otega like?
Speaker 1 (18:45):
Uh? In that game? Who's next? Joe, Joe? Go ahead, Joe.
Speaker 6 (18:51):
Hey, Thus, thanks for taking the call. I just wanted
to note how how lucky are we that Denzel, first
of all, is just on the team, because it was
supposed to be the Indiana guy who I think is
just a two guard, not a point guard.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
Say that again, you're talking about Lamar Wilkinson.
Speaker 6 (19:13):
Yeah, he's just a shooting guard right in Indiana.
Speaker 1 (19:19):
Yeah, you know, I haven't seen him play.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
I think he is a shooting guard, but can also
kind of move over and can't handle the ball if
he wants, But he is I think primarily a shooting guard.
Speaker 6 (19:29):
Yes, okay, yeah, I thought he was just a pure shooter.
But yeah, I was just gonna say I have confidence
in Denzel. He was plus thirty seven tonight, Jasper was
plus thirteen, so little concerning there.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
But also remember Jasper's playing with the bitch, right, So,
I mean Aberdeen's getting to play with the starters. Jasper's
playing pretty much the entire game with the reserves. So
it's not a you know what I mean, it's not
an equal comparison.
Speaker 7 (20:00):
That's true.
Speaker 6 (20:00):
That's true. Last thing was I guess. I guess it's
good you couldn't physically actually buy the Jalen Low stock
that you've been talking about. You might be down a lot.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
Yeah, but I think with injuries, I feel like injuries.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
Don't count in the stock market. Appreciate the call, you know,
I mean, he can't help getting hurt, right.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
No, I think you lost all your money on that one.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
I don't think injuries. I don't think injuries should count
in the stock market. Is there any I don't know what. Yes,
I am holding if he.
Speaker 3 (20:38):
Doesn't play, Okay, No, I'm holding.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
You sell your stock holding. Yeah, I'm gonna buy more
of it.
Speaker 2 (20:46):
By the way, Clemson fumbled inside the one against Louisville,
UH trying to take the lead, and now they got
the ball back and they've just run in the inside
the ten again.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
We'll see if they're able to get it in.
Speaker 2 (20:57):
Are you rooting this is a tough game for me
because I hate Little but you know how I feel
about Dabo.
Speaker 3 (21:01):
I am definitely rooting for Dabbo here.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
I'm rooting for I am rooting for Dabo.
Speaker 3 (21:05):
But you know, maybe if they wait, we'll get a
Dabbo on the post game tonight.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
After Kitty Brooks. Okay, that would be that would be
a surprise.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
Who's next, Brian?
Speaker 1 (21:17):
Brian?
Speaker 5 (21:18):
Go ahead, Brian, I'm at a first time long time who.
Speaker 6 (21:24):
Calling today?
Speaker 8 (21:25):
Actually a couple of things.
Speaker 9 (21:26):
Uh.
Speaker 8 (21:26):
First, I want to give a shout out to my
brother for hooking me up with a ticket to the game.
He got called in after right after the game was
over to go deliver a baby. Oh okay, we're supposed
to hang out tonight, but he he got called in
for a baby delivery.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
So well, shout out to your brother for coming through.
And I hope the baby ended up amazing, right.
Speaker 8 (21:47):
And my other point about the game, I was thinking
of with the game like this, like we're gonna blow
this team no matter what. It's kind of more like
looking at like trends and like players and like how
they do in the game. More so, I guess my
big complaint was like just Jasper and like the backup
point guards and stuff and not really like seeing a
real defined like player step up there, which is kind disappointing.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
Yeah, I mean, I know, I get it. It's gonna
you know, it's gonna have to be Jasper. I think
if you don't have Jasper do it, then you're taking
away what makes Colin Chandler so good. Right, So I
think it's gonna have to be Jasper, and he's gonna
have to be good. I mean, look, if I'm Jasper
Johnson and I see what you know. He's played his
(22:33):
entire life playing against Michael Brown, right, the kid from Wuivere.
Like they've played against each other their whole lives. And
Michal Brown was a star against your team, and you
played six minutes. So you can either complain about that
and say you should have been in more, or you
(22:53):
can say, okay, I gotta step up. So my hope
is he sees that and elevates his game. He's gonna
play in a game. I think he's gonna play in
the game Tuesday, which, if you remember, every year, the
Champions Classic is like next to Duke in Carolina, it's
the most watched college basketball games of the year. He's
gonna have more eyes on him on Tuesday than maybe
(23:18):
any game we play the rest of the year. So
if I'm Jasper Johnson, I'm gonna get chances in a
game that matters. I hope he is more focused for
that game than he's been any all season.
Speaker 8 (23:31):
Yeah, I think it was good to see him hit
a couple of shots, and like I just I think
for play a scorer like him, just seeing the ball
go in the basket is huge. I just would like
to see him make a couple of better reads on
some of those passes.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
Yeah, well, I appreciate the call.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
I mean, I'm excited about this game against Michigan State
in part because I think we need to win it
after losing the Louisville game. I also think the rest
of our non conference schedule looks a lot harder.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
Than it did two weeks ago.
Speaker 2 (24:02):
Indiana's been good, North Carolina's been good, Saint John's we
knew was good. Gonzaga has been better. This is probably
the easiest game of the power games we have in
the non conference. You gotta go win, and by the way,
we're gonna play six top twenty five teams in the
non conference.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
I mean, I'd be surprised if there's very many other
teams that do that. Who's next, Hunter, Hunter, go ahead, Hunter, Matt.
Speaker 10 (24:31):
Billy, Ironman, Rutledge. Good to talk to you, guys. As
far as like the game goes, we won by we
won by forty plus, and in my opinion, like the
great teams, they win these games by thirty to forty,
like the really good teams every year.
Speaker 1 (24:46):
Yeah, let me look on that point. I mean, on
that point, I'm gonna let me just I'm gonna look.
I'm looking real.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
Quick at the scoreboard, okay, because I had a lot
of people get like, how could you say this was great?
All right, So I'm gonna look right now, real quick
at the scoreboard. I'm just gonna look at the top
twenty five teams in the country because almost everybody played tonight.
Illinois beaten Colgate by eighteen. Carolina's beaten North Carolina Central
by twenty six. Looks like Duke beat Indiana State by
thirty eight, Arkansas beat Samford by four, Creighton beat four,
(25:17):
Creighton beat Maryland Eastern by twenty seven, Texas Tech beat
Milwaukee by seventeen. I just say that to say, if
we didn't play well, how do you explain the fact
that we won this game more than any other team
won their game in the top twenty five. And by
the way, some of these teams played really bad teams
as well.
Speaker 10 (25:34):
Go ahead, exactly, and like I don't understand, Like I
agree to you, I don't understand the oh, like it's whatever.
But like most of the great teams when they play
these games, they win thirty plus. That's how you know
that they're good. That's how I tell that we have
a good team from a maybe average team, is you know,
do we beat them by twenty We beat them by forty.
The other thing I'd say, though, is the one thing
(25:56):
I will say is this game has left me with
a lot more questions than answers. Is specifically because of
Mark's postgame comments. Like Mark's a smart dude. He doesn't
just say something to say something, So what is his
intention by this? And I don't really know? And hopefully
we get some answers. That's my take.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
Have a good night, guys, appreciate it. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
Listen, he has been pretty perfect in dealing with the fans,
Like I've seen no mistakes. I don't understand how he's
handled this Louisville thing. It's not the end of the world,
it's not the biggest thing in the world. But it's
the first time I'm like, what are you doing? And
the fact that he also gave two different like he
(26:39):
said two different things tonight, not contrary, but like he
wasn't gonna say it, and the later he said it.
It's just it's almost like they're not exact. What I
think happened is he wished he hadn't said anything, and
now he doesn't really.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
Know how to get out of it. Who's next, Josh, Josh,
go ahead, Josh, Okay.
Speaker 11 (26:57):
Well, the first thing is I'm sure you've already done it,
but if not, if folks haven't mentioned it, A big
shout out to UK women's.
Speaker 1 (27:07):
Volleyball at.
Speaker 12 (27:10):
Y.
Speaker 1 (27:12):
Yeah they won.
Speaker 11 (27:13):
They were down two sets to you know nothing, and
then Mustard got their championship stuff together and it was
just a great overall effort.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
So you were at the volleyball game. You were at
the volleyball game.
Speaker 11 (27:25):
No, actually I was at the basketball game.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
We were just fought.
Speaker 11 (27:30):
It's a harder ticket to get the volleyball.
Speaker 13 (27:32):
Games these days, especially when they're playing against Oklahoma, but
we were one I would I really enjoyed and I
think overall, I think this UK team is gonna get
a lot more out of this game.
Speaker 11 (27:49):
I know the score was lopsided, but as I was
watching it, I saw the Eastern Illinois was a better
team than I think the score reflected. I saw him
executing sometimes to get into the rim against our defense.
And they as you've noted, they've all they've played some
(28:10):
pretty good defense. But I do think that they had
skills enough that when they go back and they take
a look at this, they're going to be able to
isolate where we need where we have some stu some
significant weaknesses.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
You know, there was a.
Speaker 11 (28:27):
Yeah, there was a period of time, and I think
it was in the you know, the second half of
the top of the second half. He had a lineup
in there and I didn't know if we were going
to score for a little while. I mean, it's you know,
obviously it's still early in the season. They're learning how
to play together. I'm not so worried. I'm I'm hoping
(28:50):
Oway wakes up. When it's gonna be when.
Speaker 1 (28:53):
It's that's the question.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
That's the question. Is will that happen? And I'm with you.
I hope, I hope it does. I don't think Eastern
Illinois is good. I appreciate the call, but I actually
think they're probably better than the other teams we played
this year, and we did I mean, not obviously Louisville,
but in the BBN United Classic.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
So one one concerning thing.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
By the way, the SEC, Billy, right now, you know
what the SEC's record is against Power for opponents?
Speaker 1 (29:22):
No, is it bad?
Speaker 2 (29:24):
The SEC's record right now against Power four opponents is
two and nine.
Speaker 3 (29:28):
Ouch.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
You know, we were the best conference in ever in
basketball last year, you could argue one of the best
conferences of all time. And they're two and nine right now,
which and that includes one really good win Alabama against
Saint John's. But like Central Florida beat Texas A and
M by fifteen to night on twelve on their home floor.
(29:53):
We have some bad losses so far. I just say
that because you know, you get to there's some of
these scores and it's like maybe the conference isn't as good.
And where that will matter is you know, last year
we lost ten games and we're still what a three seed?
Speaker 1 (30:11):
Is that?
Speaker 3 (30:11):
What we were pliso.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
Yeah, I think we were a three seed with ten game.
Speaker 2 (30:15):
Well, ain't gonna happen this year if the SEC's non
conference record, uh doesn't get better AFM nine, two eighth
twenty two eighty seven. The callers hang on because now
at the top of the next segment, we're gonna bring
on UK women's coach Kenny Brooks.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
Then we'll go back to the calls.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
He's got a game tomorrow at Marshall and then Tuesday
a huge one in Memorial Coliseum. We'll deal with it.
That's next here on the Local Toy Dealers KSR postgame show.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
Welcome back.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
It is a Local Toy Dealers KSR postgame show Clipson
just scored to take the lead on Louisville twenty to
nineteen with six minutes to go. Uh. Kentucky men obviously
win and the women play tomorrow at one o'clock. They
are at Marshall there in Huntington, right on the border.
So we wanted to bring on on the coach of
the women's team. Kenny Brooks also has a big game
(31:03):
next week. Kenny, First of all, I gotta say, who
do you have to talk to about your schedule?
Speaker 1 (31:08):
Maker.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
You've been on the road at Buffalo and on the
road at Marshall. Who's scheduling you with all these road
games and kind of random places.
Speaker 14 (31:19):
Well, I have to take credit for that, Matt. You know,
it was very intentional, obviously, getting.
Speaker 7 (31:23):
Back to Buffalo.
Speaker 14 (31:24):
Clara Strack is from Buffalo, got to go back there.
It was a tremendous experience for everyone. The community really
rallied around us. We actually have probably as many people
there than they did. And then this game here, I
just thought it made since playing it on the road
is going to give us an opportunity to get ready
for SEC play, and so the schedule is very intentional
(31:44):
and hopefully it works out for the best for us.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
You know you mentioned you were in Buffalo. We're leaving
for Buffalo tomorrow. We're going up there for a Bills game,
me and Drew and Billy Mario. We're driving up there.
Any Buffalo tips.
Speaker 14 (31:59):
These are as advertised, so you gotta go. I think
it's a place called wing Nuts. It's pretty good, so
you have to try that. I actually love Buffalo is
my my second favorite team. I'm a diehard Cowboys fan,
which obviously they're not doing too well, so I've adopted
Buffalo Bills because of all the Kentucky Boys as my
secondary team. But the trip was wonderful and everyone there.
Speaker 5 (32:22):
Really greeted us nicely.
Speaker 14 (32:23):
So we got a dove, so it was all great here.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
You got Ray and Dion and Maxwell all up there
as well. You probably went up there when you were
recruiting Claire, I would think, so you probably know the area.
Speaker 14 (32:34):
Well, well, I actually don't. You know the way the
whole recruiting process went, we didn't even go to Buffalo
to see or she came to see us, but you know,
we wanted to make sure. We wanted to make sure
we got back up there for her, and that was
my first time there.
Speaker 11 (32:48):
So it was really good trip.
Speaker 1 (32:49):
I think at school you do that.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
I remember Shryzewski used to do that at Duke for
some of his guys. He would he would go play
a game in their home place. Roy Williams did it,
so I always thought that was cool. Now you're playing
at marshalltmore Orrow. That's that's a good team. I see
they played Indiana very close. Uh and uh played the
Buffalo team that we just talked about.
Speaker 1 (33:07):
Tell me about what you're expecting in Huntington tomorrow.
Speaker 14 (33:11):
Well, you know that they they thrive on chaos. They're
going to try to speed us up.
Speaker 1 (33:15):
Uh.
Speaker 14 (33:16):
They're they're they're not as tall as we are, but
they're fast and they and they're going to try to
just run around a cause havoc. Their their system is
very similar to Tennessee, and we felt like this would
be a really good preparation to get this under our belt.
We have a new team essentially no Georgia Amore, so
beating a press is going to be different for us.
Speaker 1 (33:34):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (33:34):
So this will be a really good test for us.
Speaker 14 (33:36):
By no means it's going to be an easy, uh
game for us, and we're gonna have our work cutout
for us. But we think it's going to help strengthen
this team and try to build some chemistry as we
go along to try to get ready for the SEC.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
Do you do that, like that's interesting?
Speaker 2 (33:50):
Do you schedule sometimes games in the non conference to
mirror teams that you will play in the conference?
Speaker 1 (33:56):
Play?
Speaker 14 (33:57):
Absolutely, absolutely, we're gonna play like we played Morehead State.
Speaker 5 (34:02):
Uh.
Speaker 14 (34:02):
That's not a game that I really love to play.
They're very methodical, but that's going to mirror some of
the teams in the SEC. Uh, this game in particular
is going to mirror some of the teams in the SEC.
And uh, the only way that you're going to get
ready for it is that if you've seen it a
little bit to some similars, and uh, this is gonna
be this is gonna be great preparation and it's Julie
does a tremendous job. I think the Lexington fans, Lexington
(34:23):
people are very familiar with her from Transylvania.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
And uh, that's the that's my championship.
Speaker 14 (34:33):
There, there you go, there you go. And next year,
next year we'll bring her back to h to Memorial
and she'll be able to come back to Lexington. So
you know, this game had a lot more meaning, uh,
you know than just the actual game. And uh and
that's why we really, you know, signed up to play
this game.
Speaker 2 (34:48):
Oh that's great, Yeah, of course. I mean she are
my alma mater's only national title. You mentioned your team's height.
I'm sitting here looking at the stats. You guys are
averaging eleven blocks a game. I would say that has
to lead the country, isn't it.
Speaker 14 (35:01):
Well, you know what it does. We led the country
last year in block shots, and that's something that's part
of our defense. You know, our DNA on defense is
not you know, fast where we're gonna run and steal
the ball and trap you. Our DNA is to protect
the rim. And in women's basketball, and when you have
a Clarestrack and Tianni Key and Amelia has it, which
we affectionately call the triplets, Uh, they really cause a
(35:23):
lot of havoc. And it makes us a very efficient
defensive team. And that's the why that's what we lay
our hat on is that type of defense, and it
really works for us. And then on the other end,
it gives us a plus two because we're a really
good offensive rebounding team because of our height.
Speaker 2 (35:38):
Yeah, also your three leading scorers. So I watched some
of the of your last game. It is a very
different team than the team last year because you don't
have Georgia. I think a lot of people tomorrow and
then Tuesday when you play Perdue will be seeing this
team maybe for the first time because the games have
been on the computer and there's the YouTube dispute. It
(35:59):
is very, very different than the team we saw last year.
Speaker 14 (36:02):
It is and obviously when you have such a player,
a dynamic player as Georgia, they almost are like once
in a generation for a coach.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
Uh.
Speaker 14 (36:10):
So you have to go and you know, you have
to rebuild and restructure your team. And we've been very
fortunate to have Tony Morgan, who was an All acc
performer at Georgia Tech.
Speaker 4 (36:19):
Uh.
Speaker 14 (36:20):
She's come in and and Matt, I can't, I can't
tell you how excited that and happy I am for.
Speaker 10 (36:24):
Her, just because she's put in so much work.
Speaker 14 (36:27):
And when you follow a legend, you know, someone who's
played for the for the coach for five years and
is a sixth pick in the WNBA draft, sometimes people
will shy away from that. But she's come in and
she doesn't match, does it doesn't. She doesn't mind if
I say George's name one hundred times. She feels like
that's the blueprint. And she's been able to take what
we've given her and put her own little spin on it.
(36:49):
And you know, as a result, you know, she had
one of the more dominating games I've ever seen from
a point guard the other night, with eleven point sixteen
assists and zero and yes.
Speaker 1 (37:00):
Hey wait a minute, sixteen assists and zero turnovers.
Speaker 14 (37:02):
Wow, sixteen assistants, zero turnovers, and you know, so she's
putting her own stamp on it.
Speaker 15 (37:07):
She's trying to get comfortable.
Speaker 14 (37:09):
Everyone's trying to feel the way out and this day
and age, you know, for it's a little bit difficult
for coaches as well as fans when you have the
transfer portal and essentially you're having, you know, a pretty
much all new team. Everyone has to get used to
each other. And so that's what we're doing right now.
And you know, we're stumbling, and we're fumbling a little bit,
you know, but it's a good thing when you can
(37:29):
win while you're doing that, and you know, we're creating
our own identity on Georgia.
Speaker 2 (37:34):
By the way, you didn't get to hear it. She
was great on the Big Blue Mattis like she's got
a future in that she's I think, you know, yes,
she was one of my favorite interviews that I've done
since I've been here. All Right, so you got the
game tomorrow. I don't want to skip ahead, but Tuesday,
you guys play Purdue. Schedule picks up starting with tomorrow
and then the Purdue game at home. You want to
(37:55):
make I think a huge crowd impact on Tuesday.
Speaker 1 (37:58):
Talk about what you have going on Tuesday.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
Uh, and Purdue coming into Memorial Coliseum.
Speaker 14 (38:05):
Now, Purdue's coming in obviously a Big ten opponent right
up the road.
Speaker 15 (38:09):
Uh, it's gonna be a great test for us.
Speaker 14 (38:11):
Uh, you know, and and we want to get Memorial
this time of the year. It's difficult for fans.
Speaker 16 (38:16):
I get it.
Speaker 14 (38:17):
I understand they got to make a choice. You know,
they got the men's games, they got women's games. We're
in full swing with our volleyball teams doing great.
Speaker 1 (38:25):
Uh.
Speaker 14 (38:26):
You know, we have soccer that's doing well, you know, so.
Speaker 16 (38:28):
So you have to pick and choose.
Speaker 14 (38:30):
This will be the last time that we'll be at
Memorial for a month. You know, we're gonna be able
to go on the road and uh, you know, test
our wits on the road a little bit. So we
want to we want to get the fans in, We
want to pack the house out. We want to give
the young ladies, uh, the wildcasts a great sendoff, so
to speak. But we want to show everybody what's to come.
And I think it'd be a great opportunity. And you know,
(38:51):
there's gonna be some fans. I know the men are
playing on Tuesday. I think they play a half hour
later than we do. Uh, but you know, rest is short.
We're gonna show uh majority of the game on the
on the big screen at Memorial while it's going on.
So come on out, you can double dip. You know,
you can cheer on the Lady Cats, uh and all
the while still see the men playing and cheer them
(39:13):
on the victory against Michigan State. I just think it
would be a wonderful opportunity. And uh, you know, we
got a lot of special things going on uh in
the house. You know, we need people there to show
that we're going to be a great basketball team.
Speaker 2 (39:25):
Well, I'll talk more about that when we get when
we get you off, but uh, it is a big
night for you guys, and good luck hopefully we get
a one to two big ten win. And good luck
tomorrow and Huntington as well.
Speaker 14 (39:36):
I appreciate you man, you do a fantastic job. Thanks
a lot.
Speaker 1 (39:39):
Thank you for staying up with its Kenny. We appreciate Kenny.
Speaker 9 (39:42):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (39:42):
Now he can't he can't say this, but I think Billy,
they have like one of the top recruits in the
country coming like like they I think they have a
recruit that if they come like it'll be like maybe
the number one class.
Speaker 1 (39:55):
Oh yeah, they already half a couple of really good ones.
Speaker 2 (39:58):
So part of the reason I think they that we
want to have the crowd they want to have is
like one of the really top recruit is on campus Tuesday.
So just throwing that out there. All right, who's up next?
Speaker 3 (40:10):
All right, let's go to Andrew number two?
Speaker 1 (40:14):
Andrew number two? How are you? Andrew? Been good?
Speaker 16 (40:20):
Thanks for having me on. Of course that question, Uh,
with the injuries we've got, what you know, what's the possibility.
I mean, we've got a lot of big games coming up,
and there's gonna be some lineups we've got to throw
out there that, let's just say it can't guard, can't
guard very well. Is there any thought you think of
(40:41):
maybe playing a level zone in the future, just a
little bit?
Speaker 2 (40:44):
Could They could a little bit occasionally, But I actually
disagree with you that they they're gonna be lineups where
we can't guard. I think Les Louisville, we didn't well wait,
let me put that back. There are lineups where we
won't be able to guard. But the good thing about
this team is we should be able to always put
a lineup on that can guard every kind of team. Now,
(41:04):
against Louisville we didn't, but I think it was more
execution and effort. I don't think it's like last year
because I think last year we just had guys who simply,
I don't care how well they played, they were not
gonna be able to guard Alabama. I don't feel like Andrew.
This year's team is like that. I think pretty much
every team we play, if we execute, we will have
players who can guard them, I hope.
Speaker 16 (41:27):
So last year it just kept coming back that we
just we can't stop a straight line drive. Why don't
we zone?
Speaker 2 (41:34):
But we weren't athletics last year. I mean, I agree
with you, we should have played more zone maybe last year.
But this year's team is not last year's. I mean,
last year, Kobe Braya couldn't guard anybody. Jackson wasn't a
very good guard, Andrew Carr couldn't guard anybody like I mean,
we just had some deficiencies that I don't transparing like.
I just don't think this year's team has those deficients.
Speaker 16 (41:55):
Yeah, I agree with you. One more quick question, I'll
get off here. What do you think about the bottom
half of it SEC. I think it's gonna be significantly
weaker this year, and and I don't think I think
we're gonna have a chance to rack up some wins
this year. I just think, don't think we're gonna get
as many quality opponents down the bottom of.
Speaker 2 (42:11):
The Totally agree with you. It's a weird conference schedule
for us this year. I appreciate the call. It's a
very weird conference schedule because we play all the bad
teams at home, So, like you know, we have a
home schedule where we shouldn't lose. I mean, the only
(42:33):
two good teams we play at home are Florida and Tennessee.
The rest of our home games are against like the
worst teams in the conference are. But the counter to
that is we play all the good teams on the road.
We play Alabama on the road, we play Auburn on
the road, and we play Arkansas on the road. And
I think we play all miss here there there, there's
(42:53):
they're supposed to be decent. But so because of that,
I think we're actually gonna have even if we struggle,
we're actually gonna have a pretty good conference record. But
I do think, you know, it's not gonna be like
last year, where every single game was a war, but
it also meant you could get a quality win at
(43:14):
the bottom half of the SEC.
Speaker 1 (43:16):
He's exactly right, it's much worse this year.
Speaker 2 (43:18):
I still think Alabama's really good, Florida's really good, Tennessee's good,
Arkansas's good, and Old miss Is probably gonna be all right.
And then I just think there's a huge drop off
after that. And I think there's just a lot of teams.
I may be missing somebody, but there's a like A
and M's bad, George's bad, Mississippi State's bad, South Carolina's
(43:41):
really bad. I don't think Vandy's good. I haven't really
Texas did not look good against Duke. Don't know much
about Oklahoma. I just think it's a much weaker conference
than it was last year. Who's next?
Speaker 1 (43:55):
John John? Go ahead? John, Hey John? Or hey man?
Speaker 17 (44:00):
Sorry first time? Long time?
Speaker 1 (44:01):
Who are.
Speaker 2 (44:04):
First off?
Speaker 17 (44:05):
Shout out to Louisville Mail Tonight they upset Manual in
the second round of the six A playoffs on a
two point conversion.
Speaker 2 (44:12):
How's Male upset Manual? Is it Male always good? And
Manuel was rarely good? Is it different this year.
Speaker 17 (44:19):
This year, Manuel smoked them in the regular season. Male
just wasn't that good, but then played at Mail tonight
and close it out on two point conversion, so they're
moving on.
Speaker 2 (44:31):
Okay, Well, congrats to Male. Did middlesbrough win Billy? Have
you seen the play?
Speaker 3 (44:36):
I don't know, John, do you know, I'm not sure.
Speaker 1 (44:40):
On that go ahead?
Speaker 17 (44:41):
So I don't know if you saw about Steph Curry,
but you know so a few years ago he started
his Curry brand that de Aaron Fox actually signed to. Uh,
they were with under Armour. They announced today that he's
leaving under Armour and Steph Curry was wearing Nikes today.
So I just wanted to know what your thoughts saw
(45:03):
it is.
Speaker 1 (45:04):
Yeah, it's interesting. It's quite a change. Yeah, well Daron'll
be the face of the brand, I guess.
Speaker 17 (45:12):
And you don't think he's going to be tied to
under Armour contractually since he signed with Curry brand even
though they were under idea.
Speaker 2 (45:20):
I would have to see what his uh, what his
agreement is. I appreciate the call. That is weird though
that I saw the deal was expiring. I didn't know
he wear different shoes that night. That's got to stink
if your under armoury goes thirteen years and then the
one second he could get out of him, he's already
in the other one.
Speaker 1 (45:36):
That's kind of you know.
Speaker 3 (45:38):
Middlesborough did win tonight forty four to thirty six over
Hazard forty.
Speaker 2 (45:42):
Four thirty six. All right, I think we get Pigwell
next week. That's only tough. But I want him to
beat Pigwell because then they'll come up here and I
might actually get to see him play Louisville with a
really really really stupid personal foul under two minutes to go,
and I think they just gave him a personal foul.
It gives them a first down and it doesn't end
(46:04):
the game or no way. But I guess they called
it on Clemson because it's third. No, Louisvill's now got
third and twenty.
Speaker 3 (46:10):
Nine because Clemson like dropped a punt.
Speaker 2 (46:14):
Oh, Clemson dropped the punt the ball. Oh so Louisville's
actually driving to kick a field goal here?
Speaker 1 (46:20):
Oh okay, and that so that fifteen yards takes him
out of field goal.
Speaker 3 (46:24):
Ll Wowsville right there.
Speaker 2 (46:27):
Still though, what a stupid play. Yeah, but you're right,
that is a big play. Well, we'll see what happens here.
They'll get a field goal right here. Ay fi ive'
nine two eight twenty two eighty seven. We will take
a break. When we come back, we'll take more of
your calls. Final segments A Local Toy Dealers KSR postgame show.
It is a local Toy Dealer's KSR postgame show. Just
an unbelievable ending.
Speaker 1 (46:48):
To this Clemson Louisville game.
Speaker 2 (46:49):
Clemson botches a snap to give Louisville field position to
just need like fifteen yards to win the game. Louisville
ends up getting a false start, then they end up
getting a unsportsmanlike conduct that takes them out of field
goal range. They end up getting ten yards and then
(47:11):
it's fourth. They get a forty eight yard field goal
and he misses. It probably would have made it if
not for the unsportsmanlike And now Clemson looks like they're
going to win.
Speaker 1 (47:24):
On Louisville's field. That's gonna be two straight losses, uh
for we.
Speaker 2 (47:29):
Actually, well, game's not over yet, but but looks like
it's close to being over. That'll be two straight losses
for Louisville at home to teams with a losing record.
Speaker 3 (47:37):
Oh, that's brutal.
Speaker 1 (47:38):
Louisville has had their foot.
Speaker 2 (47:40):
Louisville's football team has like they could have been in
the playoff two years in a row. I mean they've
lost some crazy games the last two years. Really half,
maybe we can beat him here in a couple of weeks.
If I'm nine, two eight oh twenty two eighty seven,
who's up next?
Speaker 3 (47:56):
And before that, it's time for our Johnny Rocker personal
injury attorney money make of the game. Injured get small
town compassion with big city results when you call the
Rocker at two seven zero three two one four four
two nine and the night belonged to Modavaatee. Denzel Aberdeen
had a good night as well. But our moneymaker tonight
is Andrea Jelovich. Fifteen minutes, eleven points, seven rebounds. He
(48:16):
was plus seventeen in the plus minus. He also made
a three. I feel like this guy's improving every single game.
He is our Johnny Rocker personal injury Attorney moneymaker of
the game. Matt, I want to ask you, what do
you think his role is on this team?
Speaker 2 (48:28):
Well, it's been quiet, but he's been good both games.
I thought he played against well against Louisville as well.
I think his role is exactly what you've seen. But
I also think you know, with Garrison, you know there's
always a world where he gets moved out of that
starting lineup and Moreno or Jellovich can find their way in.
So Yelovich's been really good. I love the way he shoots.
(48:50):
What I've been surprised with him is how well he
plays defensively. His ability to keep his feet to slide
and be able to uh stay in front of guys
has really been surprising to me. Like it's actually been
quite impressive to me how he's done. And so I
think he's got to knowing does have a great role.
Speaker 1 (49:11):
I think he's been really, really, really good this year.
Speaker 2 (49:15):
This game's not over, Billy, right, I mean I didn't
realize they had two timeouts. I mean there's a minute
twenty four.
Speaker 3 (49:23):
But yeah, I mean it could if.
Speaker 1 (49:25):
They don't get this first down, they're gonna get the ball.
Speaker 3 (49:26):
You're gonna have twenty thirty seconds left something like that.
Speaker 1 (49:29):
Yeah, more than that.
Speaker 2 (49:30):
Actually, if I'm nine two to eight zero twenty two
eighty seven, Ari, who's next?
Speaker 1 (49:34):
Lacey, Lacey? Go ahead, Lacey, hey man, what's up.
Speaker 12 (49:41):
Can you hear me?
Speaker 1 (49:42):
Yes?
Speaker 12 (49:44):
Okay, I just wanted I wanted to ask you a
quick questions. My family and I just got season tickets
for basketball this year, and we're wondering, what would your
best way to get out of the Rupp Arena parking
lot there?
Speaker 1 (50:01):
That's great, great question.
Speaker 2 (50:02):
First of all, all right, so first of all, don't
park in the parking lot.
Speaker 1 (50:06):
All right, So that like the parking lot.
Speaker 2 (50:09):
The parking lot's the worst place to park it row
because it takes you forever to get out of the
parking lot.
Speaker 1 (50:14):
The key to Rupp Arena parking.
Speaker 2 (50:17):
Is to it is first of all, do you want
to Are you cool paying or do.
Speaker 1 (50:22):
You not want to pay?
Speaker 12 (50:24):
We don't mind paying.
Speaker 1 (50:26):
If you don't mind paying.
Speaker 2 (50:27):
If you don't mind paying, then there are lots on
like second, like on second Main Street. Second like start
like that towards the towards Trancy. Okay, there are little
side lots that are easy to get out, So get
on that side and then get out so like they're
(50:48):
little church lots or things like that that you can
get out pretty quick.
Speaker 1 (50:52):
And that's what I would do.
Speaker 2 (50:54):
And then now if you if you don't want to pay,
the best thing to do. And I can't tell you
where they are, Billy, because I'd be ruined it for
other people. But there are side streets. There are side
streets between ks Bar and rub that. Think if you're
at Chasbar and you're coming to RUP, there's some side
(51:14):
streets on the left on that drive that nobody uses.
Speaker 1 (51:19):
There's some parking over.
Speaker 12 (51:20):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (51:21):
I walked by ten minutes before the game and the
street was had like ten spots, So that's what I
would do. And that's actually very close to the arena
and free, so I'll just that's the biggest hint I
can give you.
Speaker 12 (51:36):
Okay, we come to KSR well during football season and
do the shuttle.
Speaker 1 (51:41):
So there's no shuttle and it's about a mile. It's
like one point.
Speaker 2 (51:46):
One miles from KS Bar to the to the arena,
but in between there's some side streets there if you want.
Speaker 1 (51:51):
To do it.
Speaker 17 (51:52):
So all right, awesome, thank you.
Speaker 1 (51:55):
Good luck. Do you have any parking tips. You're downtown
a lot, Billy.
Speaker 3 (51:59):
No, I just just park the same place every time,
but you get a city center. Yeah, but she asked
the right person.
Speaker 2 (52:06):
Yeah, parking is at art, especially at Rough there are places.
But the thing is, I don't want to blow everybody's spot.
But what I just told you, there's a lot of
options in those little side streets between chaos bar and
in there.
Speaker 1 (52:20):
All right, who's up there? Andrew? Why did he feel that? Andrew?
Go ahead, Andrew?
Speaker 15 (52:26):
Hey, Matt, have two things. First off, kind of worried
about Brandon Garrison. Four turnovers in sixteen minutes is an ideal,
and obviously he's on Mary Williams, but if he's gonna
play have a substantial role, he's gonna have that better
decision making. I just worry that he's gonna be the
odd man out when Quintins comes back.
Speaker 2 (52:46):
I worry about it too, but I'm more worried about
his defense. I just think last year he was a
decent defender, and I feel like he's been really bad
this year so far. Defensively, he was awful against Little
but even tonight, I'm just I don't know. It feels
like he, especially on screens, just makes really bad decisions.
Speaker 1 (53:06):
But go ahead.
Speaker 15 (53:08):
My second thing, loose is I'm a season ticket holder,
so I was of the game or not, and I'm
surprised Pope hasn't tried a line up of the Aberdeen Chandler, Mo,
Yellowitch and Marino altogether. I know kind of limits the
penetration from the guards, but I just think Yellowitch and
Moe are just so good, and I just don't.
Speaker 10 (53:26):
Think you'd keep them up before.
Speaker 1 (53:27):
I just think that would be I mean, you got Yeah,
I appreciate the call. Yeah, I don't.
Speaker 2 (53:31):
I mean, I don't think you played three bigs.
Speaker 1 (53:35):
But I do.
Speaker 2 (53:36):
I mean, tonight a lineup that was kind of effective.
Form is they had Cam Williams at the three with
Yellowvich and Moreno, and it actually seemed like it worked
decently well in general. I don't advocate that, but you know,
all those guys can shoot a little bit, so it
probably probably works out. Okay, twenty five seconds Louisville has
(53:57):
it on the twenty Who's next?
Speaker 1 (53:59):
Eric? Eric? Go ahead? Eric?
Speaker 4 (54:02):
Hey, Matt, I good to talk to you again. You
may not remember me, but my wife still loves the car,
so thanks a lot.
Speaker 1 (54:09):
Still loves Oh, yes, of course good. I'm glad. You
know what.
Speaker 2 (54:14):
Yeah, I thought of you just the other day actually,
because now I'm about to probably get another one.
Speaker 1 (54:20):
So and the last time I had a new car,
was you how long ago.
Speaker 4 (54:24):
Was that, By the way, I think that was twenty
seventeen October September around there.
Speaker 1 (54:30):
Been eight years. That's about what I thought.
Speaker 18 (54:32):
Alright, go ahead, yeah, I know everybody was really down
after the Louisville game. I was too, and like you
were constantly pointing out after the postgame show, we had
issues in that game with just to assist a turnover
ratio and the defense wasn't great. I think this was
(54:53):
a good rebound game for us.
Speaker 4 (54:54):
We did exactly what we needed to do, and I
think the thing that I'm most happy of out with
this is that this team has a huge upside and
we were able to do in this game exactly what
we needed to do after the loss of Louisville because
everything we struggled with the Louisville is fixable, even though
(55:15):
it burns really really bad to lose to somebody like them.
So totally I agree with you.
Speaker 2 (55:21):
I don't expect us to be as bad defensively as
we were against Louisville. It just doesn't make sense for
how this team is built, so I hope, and we
still scored eighty eight points. I mean, the problem to
me was more defense than offense.
Speaker 4 (55:37):
I agree, and I think that this we've got offensive weapons.
And the biggest problem I think that BBNTO is spacing
right now is that last year's team didn't have great athletes,
didn't have superstar players. And I don't know we have
superstar players this year, but we have much better athletes
and Pope was able to get them to overperform lot
(56:00):
last year. I felt like, and I think BBN is
gonna expect the same thing out of this lineup, and
if we don't, he's gonna have a lot of naysayers. Unfortunately, no,
he will.
Speaker 2 (56:13):
He will, but we're still a long way away from that.
But I appreciate the call. Good to hear from you.
Speaker 1 (56:18):
Billy. You know that story? Do you remember?
Speaker 2 (56:20):
Were you with us in twenty seventeen when my car
got what happened to it?
Speaker 3 (56:24):
That was when I joined. So I'm I.
Speaker 2 (56:26):
Was driving to a remote I think it was in
somewhere in eastern Kentucky, and I had a Cadillac like
an SUV Cadillac and the engine locked up because I
didn't change the oil enough.
Speaker 3 (56:39):
Oh I have I do know this story, which.
Speaker 2 (56:41):
Was really stupid, and I got it towed back to
the Cadillac dealership, and that guy he worked there, and
he bought it off of me because he said his
wife had always wanted one and he could fix it.
And he fixed it. Like I thought that meant when
your engine locked that way, you were done right right.
Speaker 1 (57:00):
So I sold it to him and he fixed it,
and then he gave his wife a car.
Speaker 3 (57:03):
Do you regularly put in oil?
Speaker 1 (57:05):
Now? Now I do?
Speaker 2 (57:06):
Okay, I wasn't as good about it, but.
Speaker 1 (57:11):
Now I will tell you.
Speaker 2 (57:13):
When your car locks up on the Eastern Kentucky Parkway
and you end up on the side of the road
and then you can't use the car anymore, you.
Speaker 3 (57:20):
Learn, Billy, you don't forget after that.
Speaker 2 (57:23):
I do not forget. At that point, Clemson has just
beaten Louisville. Let's do three more.
Speaker 1 (57:27):
We'll call it a night. Who's next, Let's go to Luke? Luke,
go ahead, Luke, Hey.
Speaker 19 (57:33):
Matt, first time, long time? Who Honestly, I was just
kind of calling to ask about, like, given the Jalen
Lowe situation, what would you say, like, realistically, let's say
he like does not come back for the season. What
do you think is like the cat's like realistic destination
going forward into the turnal.
Speaker 2 (57:54):
Okay, so I don't I don't you know me, I
don't predict what we're gonna do in the tournament because
I think it's random. So now if you're asking me, though,
what could what could our record be?
Speaker 1 (58:05):
I think we.
Speaker 2 (58:06):
Still can be a contender in the SEC and a two.
Speaker 1 (58:12):
Or three seed. I don't think we can be a
one seed without Jaalen low.
Speaker 2 (58:19):
Now, when you get to tournament, I think we're an
elite I think we're a little bit better of a
tournament upside than last year. So I think we're like
an elite eight level team. But you know, if you
get a good draw, you can get to the final four. Still,
if you get a bad draw, you could lose in
the sweet sixteen or second round. But I sort of
(58:42):
see this team if it reaches its potential without Jalen low.
Speaker 1 (58:46):
As being like, I don't know, six to ten.
Speaker 2 (58:52):
But there's also a world where they don't and we're
like a six seed. So it kind of depends on
and if they reached their potential. Because the one thing
about Jalen Lowe, beyond the fact that he creates offenses
end of game situations, that's a dude who can get
you a bucket if nothing else is gone.
Speaker 1 (59:11):
Like think about the Louisville game.
Speaker 2 (59:12):
We had a long period of time where we were
not able to score and then they put him in and.
Speaker 1 (59:15):
Immediately we scored. Right.
Speaker 2 (59:18):
I don't know if we have a dude like that
without him, and that's what worries me a little bit.
Speaker 19 (59:24):
Yeah, I agree, Well that's.
Speaker 16 (59:26):
All I had.
Speaker 1 (59:27):
I appreciate. It's called St.
Speaker 19 (59:29):
John's game for that.
Speaker 1 (59:31):
Well, thank you, enjoy it.
Speaker 2 (59:32):
Uh, you know, I mean, maybe Aberdeen will be that,
but like last year, Jackson, Robinson, even Lamont Butler could
like take somebody off the dribble and.
Speaker 1 (59:42):
Go to the bat. I just don't I don't know.
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (59:44):
If I don't know, maybe maybe guys will develop that.
Jasper Johnson could be that, but he's got to play better. Uh. Middlesborough,
by the way, won How about this, Billy. It was
fourth and goal from the fifteen. Middlesborough was up eight.
The quarterback scrambled ran.
Speaker 1 (59:59):
Got knocked out the one line as the game.
Speaker 3 (01:00:02):
Ended, So that was Hazard trying to tie the game.
Speaker 1 (01:00:05):
Hazard trying to tie the knocked.
Speaker 3 (01:00:06):
Out that finish.
Speaker 1 (01:00:09):
Wow, who's next?
Speaker 5 (01:00:11):
Ca?
Speaker 1 (01:00:11):
Yes? Camden, go ahead, Camden.
Speaker 5 (01:00:14):
Hey.
Speaker 9 (01:00:15):
Yeah. First, I just want to shout out Union County Football.
They beat Glasgow tonight. Uh so that was a big
win the second round of the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (01:00:23):
Congrats.
Speaker 9 (01:00:24):
And the next thing I want to say is I
wonder if the coaching staff has thought about playing Yellowvich
and diabate together because I feel like when, especially when
Garrison's on the floor, he just gets caught in so
many ball screens. He's like it just feels like he's
constantly in no man's land, like he it's like he
(01:00:44):
doesn't know how to guard it. And I just I
feel like they thought about it.
Speaker 2 (01:00:50):
I'm sure they thought about it. I don't know if
they're going to do it, but I'm sure they thought
about and they probably you'll probably see it some. I
like that too together because Yellowitch can shoot, and I
think you need to play diabatee with someone who can
who can shoot, because he really can't.
Speaker 9 (01:01:09):
Yeah, And I just want to say, good teams win,
but great teams cover. And it was a big spread
tonight and we covered easily, So I was pretty excited about.
Speaker 2 (01:01:20):
That me too. I appreciate the call, by the way.
Uh yeah, So Middlesbrough plays Pike. Well, Sayer was upset.
All those rich kids got upset tonight. So congratulations to
UH Paris for the upset. So if we could beat Pike,
full don't have to play, sir, who knows, we could
be playing in.
Speaker 1 (01:01:39):
The state championship.
Speaker 3 (01:01:41):
Dabbo, congrats on the wind to night. What did you
think after the game? Now you're five hundred?
Speaker 1 (01:01:45):
Oh sorry, I wasn't mentally in the frame of mind.
Speaker 3 (01:01:49):
That was like Mitch mcconnald Ryan's McConnell there.
Speaker 2 (01:01:54):
Oh, oh, one more today?
Speaker 3 (01:01:57):
All right, Dabo, next time, mobyb.
Speaker 1 (01:02:00):
Like the like the techno DJ. All right, Moby go ahead.
Speaker 7 (01:02:05):
I have no talents of a techno DJ. But my
call has nothing to do with basketball, so it's great.
That's the lat to call tonight. I just want to
invite you, Matt and Drew, Billy and Mario to our
house in Northeast, Ohio to do the post game football
show on your way up to Buffalo tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (01:02:22):
Oh oh, that's a good invite. All right, Let's see
where do you live. What's the town you live in?
Speaker 7 (01:02:26):
I live in Hudson, Ohio, which is the northeast suburb
of Akron. It won't put you too far off of
the interstates.
Speaker 2 (01:02:34):
All right, So I'm looking here Hudson, Ohio. I see it.
You are four hours and forty six minutes away. Okay,
so let's think timing here, Billy. If we leave right
at eleven.
Speaker 3 (01:02:46):
Thirty really noon, you got to pick me up.
Speaker 2 (01:02:49):
Yeah, but what eleven forty five, because we're going to
get out of there quick. The game starts at one thirty,
so we're talking postgame show around five, you know, I mean,
it's not the worst. That's I kind of thought we'd
end up between Akron and Cleveland.
Speaker 7 (01:03:09):
I heard you earlier this week say that That's the
only reason I'm bringing up I'm a big fan, my
wife and.
Speaker 2 (01:03:14):
Kid kind of that's the kind of random thing I
like to do on these trips. So here's what we'll do,
cause I mean, if we can get I hope you understand.
If we can get farther than that, we need to
just do it. But if we're gonna be close to there, like,
that's about where I thought we were gonna be. So
I'll tell you what. Hang on, give Billy your your
(01:03:36):
address and your phone number, and if it works out
that we are close to that, then yes, we will
do the postgame show in your house if you now
this is and I'm glad to pay for it. I'm
not asking you to do something, but will you have
pizza there so that we can then get on the
road when it's over.
Speaker 7 (01:03:54):
Would you like Costco pizza? You're gonna getting something local.
Speaker 2 (01:03:57):
Let's do something local. I don't think we need Costco.
I'm glad to pay for it. I'm not trying to
put you out. You're hosting this, but we'll but wait,
I was gonna go somewhere where we could eat while
the show was going because we've got to get still
get to Buffalo that night.
Speaker 7 (01:04:09):
No, I got you. We'll get the pizza. We'll get
some snacks and some diet coke for you.
Speaker 1 (01:04:13):
So I got you. All right, Well, don't buy yet
until I know if we're gonna beat so Billy. I
think this will work. I think we can go.
Speaker 2 (01:04:20):
I think we could do that because I literally thought
it would kind of be somewhere between Acron and Cleveland.
You're between Akron and Cleveland.
Speaker 3 (01:04:26):
So all right, so hold on talk to you here
in a second.
Speaker 1 (01:04:30):
All right, Okay, that's.
Speaker 2 (01:04:33):
Appreciate it. That would be nice and random. Final show
on the postgame show when we do the show at
their house.
Speaker 3 (01:04:39):
It is about right where we were going to be, so.
Speaker 2 (01:04:41):
Literally, if we don't hit any traffic, it's exactly where
I thought we'd be, so all right, there you go.
You know, my ex girlfriend was from Backron, so I've
spent a lot of time there. I've never been to Hudson.
Speaker 1 (01:04:53):
All right, thank you folks very much.
Speaker 2 (01:04:55):
Tomorrow our pregame show is at nine thirty AM, so
just ten hours away from now. The bar opens at
ten if you want to come join us before Kentucky
and Tennessee tech Cats get a big win Louisville loses
in football. Good night, We'll see you later. This has
been the Local Toy Dealers KSR Postgame Show
