Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome everyone.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
This is the Local Toy Dealers KSR postgame show. Kentucky
with a big win, getting back on track, absolutely annihilating
Valparaiso one oh seven fifty nine in rupp Aerna on
rainy night in Lexington, Kentucky. We'll open up the phones
here in just a minute. Eight five, nine to two,
eight to zero, twenty two eighty seven.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Shout out.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
By the way, I just heard the commercial of the
Big Blue Deli downtown. I ate lunch there a lot
sometimes that Billy goes in even we get it for lunch, right, Billy,
great stuff.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Good stuff, So thank you. They've joined the postgame show.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
It was a feel good game for Kentucky tonight, I thought,
after the poor performance against Georgetown, who by the way,
won by double digital digits on the road tonight against Maryland.
So maybe Georgetown's good and the poor first half against
Nichols was important Kentucky come out and play well, and
they did. I think they made their first five shots

(00:56):
and were excellent. Let's just go over some numbers. All
five starters, all five starters in double digits. That's huge,
Malachai Moreno eighteen points gets a double double. They went
they had had twenty seven assists with only six turnovers.
That's a four and a half to one ratio. You're

(01:18):
not gonna lose any game where you have that assist
to turnover ratio. They shot the ball thirty nine percent
from three. That's the first time they've been over twenty
five percent in a game this year. So that was
a great sign. And it all for me comes down
to well two things. One, Valpo decided to play up tempo.

(01:38):
I'm glad they did it because I think a lot
of teams in the SEC, the good teams, so Florida
Alabama they're gonna play like that, so I want us
to have games like that. But also, it's a very
tough style to beat Kentucky at when you're a lot
less talented, and that's what ends up happening, is you
get run off the floor, especially when we're hitting shots.

(02:00):
But put that to the side. The big difference in
this game is clearly having Low in Aberdeen. You know,
in the first half of the last game, Aberdeen didn't
play a lot of point. He comes in and plays
it in the second half. You see the difference. And
then tonight Aberdeen right out of the Gate Helps and
then Jalen Low. He played you know, small amount of minutes,
but you could tell in those minutes, you could tell

(02:22):
exactly why he's gonna be so big for this team.
He just changes everything, his penetration, his passing. He had
five assists. I think he had four in the first half,
and he just the way he gets the basket, the
way he sees the floor and he's not even really
looking for his offense yet wait until he has to
do that. I just thought they were great, and that

(02:43):
is the team offensively that I think we can have
a lot of the year. You know, most teams will
play a style where we're not gonna be able to
run up down the court.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
We're gonna have to do it in the half court
more often.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
But you know, when you get a game where six
guys are in double digits, nobody what I love about this.
Six guys in double digits. But of the starters, everyone
had between twelve and fifteen points, completely even scoring distribution load.
You know, o Way had his now standard get he'll
get thirteen to fifteen. Every single game, Garrison played well,

(03:19):
Moreno played well.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Diabate was good.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Honestly, every single person on the floor was really excellent.
You know, poor King Williams still can't make a shot,
but pretty much everybody else I thought, really showed something.
You saw Colin Chandler making all those threes to start.
You know, if you take the second half of the
Nickels game and the first half of this game, I mean,

(03:42):
dude was on complete fire. I think he made seven
of eight. If you combine those two halves, this is
what you want.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
Now. Is valpel good? Probably not.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
They're probably mid pack of the Missouri Valley Conference. But
for me, I just wanted to see. I just wanted
to see Kentucky play like that, because even in the
Purdue game, as good as they were offensively, it wasn't
in a style like this. Half of our SEC games
are going to be like this, and half of them

(04:12):
are going to be like Georgetown in terms of the
way they play. And now we've gotten a test against
both of them. We won't really play a team like
Perdue in the conference, but we will play teams like this,
better versions of teams like this, and we'll play teams
like Georgetown, and now we've gotten a test in both
of them. Thought the arena was sounded great, love the

(04:32):
ovation that Jalen Lowe got when he checked in the game.
I watched it at home. Travis Ford, Billy sounds just
like Jimmy Dikes. When did that start happenings? He always
sounded like Jimmy Dikes.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
I don't know. I don't get to hear it, so like,
what do you mean, is he doing the bits and
things like that?

Speaker 1 (04:50):
Or oh?

Speaker 2 (04:50):
He literally his voice it's he sounds like Jimmy Dikes
has a nasal cold.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
That's what he sounds like.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Because for a minute was like, oh, they got Jimmy
Dikes for this game, and then I realized it was Travis.
I had never noticed how much they sounded alike. Overall, though,
I'm thrilled with this performance. And now you get Louisville
on Tuesday, and of course Louisville's player yes yet last
night said blank them when talking about Kentucky. I have

(05:17):
not read quotes yet, but I'm sure the Kentucky players
were asked about it. I'll be interested to see maybe
between now and the end of the show bill you
can find me any Kentucky player quotes about Louisville, Okay,
because I would like to see what what what we
what we did, but that is a team that was
out there on the court tonight that even without Jade

(05:37):
and Quainton's, can beat anyone in the country. And I
needed a game like that and we got it. And defensively,
I know this team's gonna be good, but I wanted
to see him shoot the ball. I wanted to see
him be a fishing on offense. And they were a
five nine twenty two eighty seven. North Carolina puts a
beat down on Kansas. They were down in the first half,

(06:00):
came back won by double digits. That's good for us
because we play North Carolina, so if we can win
that game helps the strength of schedule. It's very very early,
very very early, but we're second in the Kim Palm
right now.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
That's good.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Georgetown beats Maryland, even though that doesn't really officially affect
our strength of schedule. Kind of unofficially, people in college
basketball know what happened with the Kentucky Georgetown game, and
maybe Georgetown is actually good. But all of that is
gonna be secondary to play in Louisville on Tuesday. And
I hate that it's this early in the year. Hate it,

(06:36):
hate it, hate it, hate it, but we're gonna play it.
We might as well beat them, and I now think
that can happen. Whereas I'm a little bit worried, to
be honest with you before tonight A five nine two
twenty two eighty seven. We will open up the phones.
It's a rainy Friday night. We got football tomorrow. Obviously,
the Zach Calzada news today was not good. He has

(06:59):
apologized for that. But remember, we'll be on the sideline tomorrow.
Potentially is the backup quarterback another thing to watch. We'll
deal with all that when we return. This is the
Local Toy Dealers KSR postgame Show.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
Welcome back.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
It is a Local toylet Dealers KSR postgame show. Eight
F I'm nine eighty seven. We're just talking about I
asked Billy during the break if you'd ever been on
a date or with a woman and argued in public
at a restaurant. There's a video of this couple arguing
at a restaurant kind of going viral tonight, and I asked, Billy,
has that ever happened to you? Have you ever been
in an argument at a restaurant with someone you were

(07:33):
you were dating?

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Yeah, but it it it never escalated. Yeah something, what
about you?

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Yeah, it's hard, I think when I've done it, I've
always like argued, but you know, in a whisper, you
know how you can sound like you're really upset, but
in a whisper like how could you do?

Speaker 4 (07:49):
You know?

Speaker 1 (07:50):
But you can tell.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
I've been in a restaurant though where people well, I've
been in a restaurant once where a couple stormed out
from my table ooh from people I were with was
with Yeah, left and the rest of us were just
sitting there.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
So I've been Actually, that's happened a couple of times.
I've been there. I luckily I wasn't the one that
did it.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
Mark Pope says he has jury duty next week, Billy,
the week of the Louisville game.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
He has jury duty in Fayette County.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
What Louisville clerk County court clerk in the Fayette County courthouse,
What Louisville fan did that to us?

Speaker 1 (08:28):
Exactly? How are you gonna give you know, I've lived.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
In I've lived my entire life in Kentucky and have
never I've never had jury duty ever. And Mark Pope's
been here a year. Drew's had it like four times
since we've been here. I have, and I've I've never
had You've had it. I've never had it, which is
crazy to me.

Speaker 5 (08:54):
Too.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
I'm sure you'd be really in Well.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
I would get struck immediately though, like I it would
actually be terrible because I know, no one knows, no
one lawyers ever going to keep me on.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
Probably, Yeah, the lawyers do not keep other lawyers on.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
But the question you were asking me, if I thought
Mark Pope was going to get dismissed get excused, he will, probably,
but it's hard to get excused, you know, because everybody
thinks that they have a valid reason, and the court
tends to like, you know, really the only people that

(09:30):
get excused are you know, maybe doctors. Uh but really no, like,
he'll get excused probably, But it was.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
So it's not like there is a world out there.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
There's a world he lived, like like, okay, you know
Vince Merrill lives in Lexington and coaches a little u huh.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
There's definitely a world that.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
If he got called to Fake County jury duty, they
would make Vince Merrow sit there.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
They would guess miss him.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Yeah, that would yeah, because because being a basketball coach
is not like, you know, you can't use as an
excuse I have to work, because everyone has to work,
you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
The excuse has to be something like I have a job.
I can't remember what the wording is but that.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
But it's like I have a job that cannot be replaced,
and it's a serious public concern.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
This basketball coach in this state. I think it fits
at the week of the uk U of L game.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
Doesn't any week of the year in this state. I
would say so.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
But I'll say this, if he was not, if it
wasn't during the season, I bet he couldn't get out
of it.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
Yeah, that would be much tougher.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
Yeah, Lexington's actually hard to get out of it. Some
cities are easier, but Lexington can be.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Hard, all right. Who's up first, Jeff, Jeff?

Speaker 6 (10:47):
Go ahead, Jeff, Hey match Jeff and Barstown A couple
of things. We obviously looked a lot better with our
two point guards than Oh guess any team would look
more organized, get colin or opportunities and just pass the
ball a lot better. I guess I'm only concern, not
even concern really, because we've won two gave it's hard
to have a concern. Where do you think we find

(11:08):
the star power on this lineup? We have a lot
of players that can score fifteen points. Where do we
see a guy that just really woos you offensively?

Speaker 2 (11:16):
I don't think we have one, to be honest with you,
and to the extent we do, I'm hoping it's Jayalen Low.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
I mean, I I appreciate the call. I love Otega Away.
I think Otayo Oway is.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
Going to finish the season with like fifteen points, and
you know he's gonna be great, But I don't think
he's that guy.

Speaker 7 (11:36):
Now.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
I know we made winning shots last year against Oklahoma
and I and he can make winning shots. But I
think you've got to have the dude that creates and
I think that's Jayalen Low by the end of the year.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
But we do not have.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
The overwhelming star. And it is the case that if
you kind of look back at national championship winners, they
usually do and we don't necessarily. But we have I
think seven or eight guys that could get an important
bucket down the stretch, and I think that's most teams

(12:14):
don't have that, So it'll be interesting to see. But
this is why I've said all year, Billy, did you
see today? Why I've said all year? This team will
go as far as it as how good Jalen Lowe is. Yes, yeah,
I mean that that's tonight was an obvious example. Now,
Denzel Aberdeen is better than I thought he was. He's
better than I thought he was, so I'm excited about that.

(12:36):
But this team goes based I think on how good
Jalen low ends up being Who's next?

Speaker 3 (12:42):
Angus?

Speaker 1 (12:43):
Angus? How are you Angus?

Speaker 8 (12:46):
I'm good? How are you guys tonight?

Speaker 1 (12:47):
Doing good?

Speaker 6 (12:49):
Good to you guys.

Speaker 8 (12:50):
The same point, I think that when Din'jel Aberdeen runs
into Michael Brown and Louisvill on Tuesday, We've seen enough
over our last fifteen years to know that those true
freshman point guards when they into a grown man, they
seen the struggle. And I think Denzel Aberdeen will be
that grown man that Michael Brown runs into.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
Well, let's talk this second. Are you are you Caro?
Let me ask you about are you have you? Do
you know a lot about Louisville's roster this year?

Speaker 8 (13:14):
My family, my family is all loivelle fans. I'm the
only Kentucky Pandama I look real.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
Quick, because I will admit I watched them play Kansas
a little bit in the exhibition.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
I have not watched any of their games so far
this year, so I'm sitting here looking at it.

Speaker 8 (13:27):
I've watched them purely for purely to talk trast in
my family is the only reason I want.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
So their starting lineup is what it's. It's it gonna.
It's Michael Brown, it's Conwell.

Speaker 8 (13:36):
To be Michael Brown and Cason Wallace. I mean Cason
pryor Mni you're talking about. I'm not sure who the
other two I'm not sure.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
The Conwell and mcne and then what frew is that
his name? Threw the guy I don't know.

Speaker 9 (13:52):
Yes, that's it.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (13:53):
So, like you know, they don't have as physical of
a team as we have. We have a true sec athletic, defensive,
physical team, and they're just kind of rolling with the
punches as they just find offense as they go. They
don't have the physicality to match up with us in
my in my opinion, I agree with that. Hopefully it's
going to come back to bite me.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
I agree with that. I appreciate the call.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
I mean, I look at matchups for me It'll be
interesting to see because the best player on the floor
from a talent perspective will be Michel Brown. But he
is a freshman. Against Kansas, he went what one for
fourteen or whatever in that game in a preseason game.
So I think it's one of those feast or famine
we've seen over the years with Cal's freshman in the

(14:33):
Louisville game. Sometimes they play great and sometimes they don't.
Prior's only going to be in his second game.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
Mcn neel. He's a good shooter, don't. I don't know
as much about Conwell he played.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
Who did Conwell play for last year? Is that the
kid that came from Xavier? Yes, okay, so that's a
kid that came from Xavier. He's pretty good and he
you know again, I have not seen them play except
for a few minutes. They were awful a few minutes
I saw him. But I think we match up pretty
well with him. I think I think Diabate will be
a huge advantage for us, And I think watching that

(15:09):
Aberdeen and Low versus Michael Brown, uh, you know that
that might be where the game is won. To be
honest with you, how those how those how those guys
go against each other. Prior I think, is gonna diabate
Prior that well, first of all, Prior and Garrison are
gonna almost fight. Would you agree, Billy, that that's gonna happen?

Speaker 1 (15:28):
Can't wait?

Speaker 2 (15:29):
And Prior and Garrison are gonna they're gonna fight. As
a matter of fact, I I you know, I don't
mind if Garrison gets a technical in that. Sorry, if
if he wants to establish himself, because Prior is gonna
be doing that, it's gonna be interesting that the crowd
is gonna be a big deal. I mean, this is
a true road game. If you go look, honestly, every
Kentucky team of the last well of always, we always

(15:53):
struggle in our first true road game. Just go back,
go back through history. I mean we over the years
have lost our first true road game. Remember we lost
one year at Purdue, or excuse me, at Notre Dame,
not Purdue. We lost at Notre Dame one year. I
don't we very rarely play a true road game this

(16:14):
early in the year.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
I'm trying to think the last time that's happened. Yeah,
I don't know, when's the last time we've played a
true road game this early in the year.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
We've always had the Champions Classic so early, and that's
doesn't count, right, So.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
Maybe back in the day, maybe we played Carolina this
early sometimes, but I cannot remember a true road game
this early and year. So that's that's the one thing
that worries me the most about the Louisville game. Is
your third game of the year and you're having to
go into that home environment. Who's next?

Speaker 3 (16:44):
Jalen Lowe was asked about Case and Pryor's comments after
the game tonight, and he said, we will save our
chirping for during the game and after the game after
we win.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Oh really, yes, Oh that's my guy. I like that.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
Remember Jalen Low's played against Louisville twice, maybe three times,
so he knows. He certainly knows prior and he may
he may know more of the guys as well.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
I love that answer. Uh, What's who's next?

Speaker 3 (17:12):
Chance?

Speaker 1 (17:13):
Chance? Go ahead? Chance? Where do you see that quote?

Speaker 3 (17:16):
By the way, Dylan Ballard posted it?

Speaker 1 (17:18):
Okay, gotcha video? Yeah, I'm on, yes, go ahead.

Speaker 7 (17:25):
Yeah, I'm just sitting here watching John Sumrall play on
a whooping on who should be a playoff?

Speaker 1 (17:32):
What's the score. I'm watching the NBA. What's the score?

Speaker 7 (17:35):
Oh shure, we're hit sitting here at a review. It
was twenty one to fourteen. I believe that's not really
a whooping. That's a one score.

Speaker 10 (17:43):
Twenty eight seventy.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
Okay, all right, Well, big game from Memphis. This is there,
This is there essentially there. You know they win this,
they got a good chance of making the playoffs, so
this is big for them.

Speaker 7 (17:55):
But it could be a big wiver. John Sumraw who
should be our future coach, and.

Speaker 2 (17:59):
My yeah, I worry about him winning games like this though,
and maybe one of these bigger schools takes him before
we can.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
So you got part of me wants him to lose
for that reason.

Speaker 7 (18:08):
Hey, blue blood is blue blood. He's here for us,
all right. But I just want to come in on
just the effort we had as a whole team tonight.

Speaker 6 (18:20):
I mean, you just saw the.

Speaker 7 (18:23):
Complete effort of everybody we played as a team, and
just seeing on having a solid guard run the offense
is something we haven't seen all year and we just
benefited at a maximum.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
Yeah, I mean it is.

Speaker 11 (18:42):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
We gotta have those guys, I mean, without those guys,
the offense just gets stagnant. It becomes one on one
and you can have moments where it looks good, but
it's not gonna be consistent because we don't have We
don't without those guys. We don't have a great guy
who can just take over. So you gotta have a
point guards. The good thing is I kind of thought
we had one, and now I think we might have two.

(19:05):
And that's exciting. I mean because Aberdeen's bad. Definitely he was,
and I think you put those two guys on the
floor together with O way, you got three guys who
feel good kind of controlling the offense.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
And I really like that.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
And that also helps. If Brandon Garrison isn't as good
at that Amari Williams role, it may not matter as
much if you have three guards who can initiate the offense.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
Last year, if you think about it.

Speaker 7 (19:30):
And yeah, and that one stepping up in his role
is we don't need that Amarri Roll. If our guards
are putting out what they can put out, you know
we got three guard deep. We can have a Malachi
Brendan Garrison that we don't need them to benefit our offense,

(19:50):
but can just step up and play off the playoff
the screen and just feed off of that and just
hey go get you a bucket, get your rebound, and
play off that. Where are guards benefit off our team
in general?

Speaker 1 (20:03):
All right, well, I appreciate the call. I I agree
with you on that.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
And you know, people think because last year we played
with the Mary Williams in that role, that means that
that's the only way Pope can play. I think there's
a belief that, like, well, that's how they that's how
Pope played last year, so that's how he's got to play.
They really haven't played that a lot this year. They
have not been running the ball through the big very often.
They've been letting the guards go, and that's it's opened

(20:28):
up a lot of corner threes. Chandler made them tonight.
Diabata made a really ugly three tonight. So uh, you know,
I was very encouraged by the shooting and and everything
else this evening. What's next, Terry, Terry, go ahead.

Speaker 12 (20:43):
Terry, hey man, this is Big Terry from Taylor County.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
Hey y'all doing Hello, Big Taylor Terry from Taylor County.

Speaker 12 (20:55):
Hey man, Uh, great win tonight. But I warned, I
warned the f in the locker room.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
Let's not dwell on this one.

Speaker 12 (21:02):
I think we we saw what happened when we dwelled
on the Purdue when.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
Hang On, you told who this in the locker room.

Speaker 12 (21:12):
No, that's what I want to tell the fellas in
the locker room.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
They're not gonna be dwelling on this. They got Louisville.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
I mean, I don't think they're gonna be sitting there
saying there's a big differencetween beating Valpo and beating the
number one team in the country, Purdue.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
So I don't I'm not worried with you.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
I'm not worried about them dwelling on a game against
this team. Their eyes are gonna be set for Tuesday.

Speaker 12 (21:33):
Now, I agree with you. I just relate this in
my past life. I did semi professional MMA. Anytime I
dwelled on a victory I had over opponent of lesser ability,
I came out and got my butt whooped the next time.
I just don't want that to happen though.

Speaker 1 (21:48):
What does it mean? What does it mean you did
semi professional m m A. Is that in Taylor County?

Speaker 12 (21:56):
Yeah, just around Taylor County, Columbia area, even into Marion
County there.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
But where around Taylor County? Where where are you doing this?
Where are the where are the events?

Speaker 12 (22:10):
Well, Matt, if if I'm being honest, some of them
are in our my buddy's backyard.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
I think you're making this up. You're making this up, right, Matt.

Speaker 11 (22:21):
I promise you, Matt, I promise you.

Speaker 12 (22:22):
I'm Taylor big Terry from Taylor County.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
You're saying you you do events in your buddy's yard
in Taylor County.

Speaker 12 (22:31):
This is this is a past life, Matt.

Speaker 2 (22:33):
I remember, Billy, I think this is more interesting than
the value, right, So explain to me how how backyard
m a event in Taylor County?

Speaker 1 (22:43):
How does it work?

Speaker 13 (22:46):
Well?

Speaker 12 (22:47):
I mean, you know, the Campbellsville area down there, not
a lot of stuff to do. We had to keep
ourselves busy. One day, my buddy Noah, he just said, hey,
you think we can start putting the gloves on and
kind of going at it. And before we knew it,
more people would show up. I mean we even we

(23:08):
even got the point where we were selling tickets at
one point.

Speaker 1 (23:11):
See if you seld tickets in your buddy's backyard.

Speaker 12 (23:16):
Yeah, I mean not a packed house, but I mean
ten fifteen people just getting together having a good time,
watching people beat up on each other.

Speaker 2 (23:23):
First of all, Billy would love to go to this.
If do you think big Terry you could start this
back up?

Speaker 1 (23:32):
You might. I don't know you might have at all,
but I would. I would come and watch.

Speaker 12 (23:37):
Well, I appreciate that I have hung the gloves up.
Unfortunately I'm just too old for that. I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 (23:44):
All right, Well, if there is another if you hear
let me put it like this, if you hear of
a New Taylor County backyard MMA group, will you let
me know.

Speaker 12 (23:55):
Matt Jones, you will be the first person that I caught.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
All right, I appreciate, appreciate the call. See, you never
know what you're gonna get on these shows, but.

Speaker 3 (24:06):
You really don't no idea.

Speaker 1 (24:08):
I spent a lot of time in Campbellsville when I
was younger. There's a lot of.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
People there I wouldn't want to fight, matter of fact,
all of them. There's like nobody I would want to fight,
especially when the fruit of the Loom factory was there.

Speaker 13 (24:19):
That was it.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
You wouldn't You wouldn't wanted to brawl with people. So
I would like to have seen Big Terry go at
it in Taylor County.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
Who's next, Tyler?

Speaker 1 (24:28):
Tyler? Go ahead, Tyler.

Speaker 10 (24:32):
I can't help but laugh at that Big Terry stuff.

Speaker 5 (24:34):
I need Bruce Buffer calling him when he gets into
the ring.

Speaker 1 (24:37):
Big Jerry, I like, well, let's get ready to rumble.
I'd have liked that. That's what I would have liked
to have heard of, Taylor Keddy. But go ahead, Oh
would have been even better.

Speaker 10 (24:47):
Anyway. So we got Loulville coming up, man and I
and I.

Speaker 5 (24:50):
Honestly god, I knew the game was was early in
the year and not this early.

Speaker 10 (24:54):
I I was super.

Speaker 5 (24:56):
I was like, holy crap, it's next Tuesday and.

Speaker 10 (24:58):
This is yesterday.

Speaker 7 (24:59):
I'm like, I couldn't.

Speaker 10 (25:00):
I just I want to know why are.

Speaker 5 (25:04):
We playing this game so early in the year.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
They I don't know.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
I think, I think, I think what has happened with
these games? This is this is just a guess. I
honestly don't know. I think what's happened with these games
is December.

Speaker 9 (25:18):
Now.

Speaker 2 (25:19):
They're very hesitant to play these big time games on
the weekends in December because of Bowl games, so they can't.
They don't want to put the TV games against them,
so now they're wanting to put them during the week,
and I think when they put them during the week
and it's at Louisville, we're probably gonna see it be
early in the year. I think when it's in Kentucky

(25:39):
in Lexington, it might be later the ACC schedule. So
when it's in Kentucky, I remember we'll usually play between
Christmas and New Year, but I think the ACC schedule
is actually starting between Christmas and New Year this year,
so I think I think that's why this game is
so early.

Speaker 1 (25:56):
So this may be a case that when we play there,
this is what it's going to be, and when.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
We play here it's later in the year. So I
don't know if that's good or bad, but it may
just be end up what it's been. But it sounds
like neither coach really wanted this, so hopefully this is
a one time thing.

Speaker 5 (26:13):
I can't wait for the postgame handshake after we win
until we get in about twenty and we get to
see the height difference between Pope.

Speaker 10 (26:20):
And that mention that they got on the sideline.

Speaker 2 (26:22):
Anyway, that's all let's hope we're winning. That's the big one.
I mean, this is how important Billy, is this one
to you? I mean, the Louisville game is always important,
but is it more less than usual this year?

Speaker 1 (26:35):
Where are you on it?

Speaker 3 (26:36):
It's just so strange because it's so early. I'm not
ready for this game to happen.

Speaker 1 (26:39):
I'm not either. It feels like we should be playing
in the Champions Classic too.

Speaker 2 (26:43):
Yeah, like I would much prefer to be playing Michigan
State in New York City Tuesday then playing Louisville.

Speaker 3 (26:52):
But caseon Pryor's commons definitely got me fired up. And
you know, I want to win, absolutely, but it's probably
about the same.

Speaker 1 (26:59):
What about you?

Speaker 2 (27:00):
I want to win obviously, I want to win. I
think it's a big deal. I don't think it's more.
I think this is more for like just chirping purposes
between the two fan bases. I don't really know that
it'll say anything about either team. There's probably more pressure
on them than us because it's on their home floor,
right No, JQ, I mean it's.

Speaker 1 (27:20):
On their home floor.

Speaker 2 (27:21):
We haven't got you know, we haven't gotten not out yet.
You know, they're we might be older, but they've got
guys back that are in key roles, and they got
this talent talented.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
It's really because it's on their home floor. I think
the pressure in this is just.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
Gonna be on whoever's on the home floor, and and
they're having to defend home court. Steve one more and
will take a break if I'm nine to eight eighty seven, Nick, Nick,
go ahead, Nick, Hey, what's up?

Speaker 9 (27:47):
Mat?

Speaker 6 (27:47):
You got me?

Speaker 1 (27:48):
Gotcha?

Speaker 9 (27:50):
All right?

Speaker 14 (27:50):
I got two comments for you.

Speaker 6 (27:51):
Then I'll go off here.

Speaker 14 (27:53):
Jayl and Lowe from the Limited Mindens he played tonight.
You can really see the vision, like the way he
pushes the ball down in transition and gets the break started.
He's definitely our most creative playmaker. Of course, he had
some like first game jitters, first time being in front
of that rough crowd, but he definitely changes his offense
and you saw that tonight with over one hundred points scored.

(28:16):
If he stays health this year, I love our team
and I know that's your MVP of the year. But
obviously he had limited minutes tonight. But what do you
think about Jaylen Low's debut.

Speaker 2 (28:24):
He's great, he did exactly what I hoped. He played
limited minutes. Pope says he's gonna be playing limited minutes
for a while, but he did exactly what I hope.
He takes it to the he takes it to basket.
He could get a step on guys. First play he
came in, he drove the basket, kicked out for a
corner three for Chandler made it like, that's what he's
gonna do, and he's gonna do it all year. And

(28:45):
the great thing is and I appreciate the call. I
only saw him take one. I didn't see him take
any bad shots. He only took one shot that maybe
he shouldn't have, but it wasn't even that bad. Like
his weakness was taking bad shots and he's not doing that.
So I can't wait SEC play. Assuming he's healthy, he's
gonna be all SEC. My ern Metcalf asked me before

(29:06):
the year, He's like, who should I have as my
second UK guy on the ll SEC team? And I said,
you're gonna make a mistake if you don't put jay
one Lowe on it. And I believe that he is
gonna be. He's gonna be, in my opinion, first or
second team all SEC. I think he's that good.

Speaker 1 (29:20):
I think he's gonna be our leading scorer in SEC play.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
Now I don't know what's gonna happen between now and then,
Like you only had six nightsuse he didn't play a
lot of minutes, So I don't know what he's gonna
score in the non conference. But when we get to
conference play, he's gonna be. Uh, he's gonna be, if
not our best player, he's gonna be our leading scorer
A five nine, two eight, twenty two eighty seven. We're
gonna take a break. Apparently two fans got engaged tonight.

(29:45):
They were waiting to meet Mark Stoops after the game
and get an autograph, and when they got to the
front of the line to get the autograph, the guy
asked the girl to marry.

Speaker 3 (29:52):
Stoops or Pope?

Speaker 1 (29:53):
Did I say Stoops? Yeah, Pope. It would be very
odd to get engaged in front of my excuse too
at the game?

Speaker 2 (30:01):
Yeah, Mark Pope. They got engaged in front of Mark Pope.
There's video, Dylan Dylan Boward has it. I'll uh, I'm
gonna retweet it right now so people can see it.
But it's a video. They waited until they got the
frontal line and then he dropped on one knee and
Mark Pope was there to be the witness.

Speaker 3 (30:19):
Oh, congratulations to couple.

Speaker 1 (30:21):
All right, we'll take a break.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
If I'm nine, two eighth, twenty two eighty seven, it's
a Local Toy Dealer's KSR postgame show, Welcome back. It
is the Local Toy Dealers KSR postgame show. If I'm
nine two twenty two eighty seven, I'd started filming these
little reaction videos after the thing. I can't call them
rapid reactions because they do that with with KSR the website.

(30:45):
Everybody's giving me a hard time, Billy, because I have
a picture on the ground and behind it.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
Yeah, how long has that picture been on the ground.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
It's been on the ground for a long time. Yeah,
it's probably been on the ground for well are we
talking in this exact spot?

Speaker 3 (31:00):
No, No, I mean total time had this picture.

Speaker 2 (31:03):
I've had this picture since I did the thing where
I went to every county, So that was in twenty nineteen,
so I've had this thing for six years.

Speaker 1 (31:12):
So it has been on the ground somewhere for the
last six years.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
That point.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
The problem is this is hard to hang up because
it's really heavy. It's wood. Yeah you know what I mean,
not that I could hang it if.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
It wasn't wood. But that gives me an excuse that
it's it's heavy. It's really nice, though. Have you've seen it?

Speaker 3 (31:32):
I like, say, yeah, I saw it.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
It's a map of Kentucky and it's made of the
things each region is known for. Right, So it's coal
in the coal parts. Grass. It's not made of grass,
but it has grass on it, right.

Speaker 3 (31:46):
Yeah, it's unfortunate. I can't even view what's on the picture.
I can only see that it's on the floor, so
it's hard for me to actually look at it.

Speaker 1 (31:52):
I'm sorry. I'll take a picture of it for you sometimes.
It's up next, let's go to Aerin Aaron, go ahead,
Aerin Amen.

Speaker 5 (32:00):
I got two things for you. The first one is
really just you know, I know it's Valpo, but it
just felt good to go in there and really kick
their teeth in. I know we're supposed to, but I
feel like over the.

Speaker 15 (32:14):
Last few years it's you know, we kind of sweated those.

Speaker 10 (32:18):
Games, and this year it didn't feel like that, or
at least.

Speaker 2 (32:21):
Well it was over from the beginning. Yeah, and we
did it for moment one. I think that's probably the
biggest difference. I mean, well, we don't win a lot
of games about fifty. But we've won a lot of
these games by decent spreads, but it's rare that we
come in and like it was over at the first
TV timeout, you know that that was kind of a
unique cool thing.

Speaker 15 (32:41):
Yeah, and I love that and it's just felt good.
And the second thing, honestly, during that game, I you know,
I lived in chelbyvilt and I was like, you know what,
I'm going to this Louis game because I got to
be there.

Speaker 5 (32:52):
And my sister, who has never been to a Kentucky
basketball game, I just texted her and I said, we're.

Speaker 1 (32:58):
Going to this game.

Speaker 15 (32:59):
I'm bringing with me, and so I said, make it happen.
So I bought two tickets and we're going and we're
super pumped because I'm just I'm so very provable. I
won all the smacks on everything to happen. I'm just
you're gonna have I know there's gonna be more, but
you're gonna have at least two Gats fans there.

Speaker 1 (33:17):
And that's awesome. I think there's gonna be a lot.

Speaker 2 (33:18):
Remember they went on sale during the show when we
basically our fans bought up all.

Speaker 1 (33:23):
That was left.

Speaker 2 (33:24):
So I think there's gonna be a lot. I've said
this many times. It's still the case, and I hope
this happens for you appreciate it. The called nothing better
than getting to win in another team's house always, and
if you're there, it's it's awesome sitting here looking at
the scores around college basketball. Obviously, North Carolina beat Kansas
a couple of interesting close games. Perdue only beat Oakland

(33:45):
by ten. That game was tied at halftime. The Oakland
that you know, different players, but that beat US a
few years ago was tied with number one Purdue winning
by ten.

Speaker 1 (33:55):
Missouri only beat Southeast Missouri Billy by three. Uh oh yeah,
I don't know. I don't know what that means.

Speaker 2 (34:06):
For Missouri, and then most of the rest of these
games the obvious team won. There are some schools though,
we talked about how mid majors were having a hard
time scheduling, so they have to play these schools that
are like Division two, et cetera. Some of these schools
that played games today. Fort Lauderdale. Did you know that
was a school? I mean, I knew it was a city,
it was a school.

Speaker 1 (34:25):
No, I did not.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
Harvard played MI. I t I don't think MIT is
Division one. A school named Jarvis Christian played Evansville be caliumet.
I'm assuming that's not the farm h Delaware lost to
a school. The name of the school is Wilmington, Delaware.
M heard of a schooling, But have you ever heard

(34:50):
of a school being named the name of the city
and the state. No, that would be like a school
being named Louisville, Kentucky. Yeah, the school is named Wilmington, Delaware,
and then they beat Delaware. So one city is better
than the entire state.

Speaker 1 (35:08):
So kind of on who's next?

Speaker 3 (35:10):
Jen May?

Speaker 1 (35:11):
Jen May? How are you?

Speaker 9 (35:12):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (35:13):
I don't know, you don't know how you're doing?

Speaker 2 (35:16):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (35:17):
Hey, I'm on somebody else.

Speaker 1 (35:20):
Okay, go ahead.

Speaker 4 (35:21):
Hey, I just wanted to say. Yeah, So my son
was playing at a concert u L. I had to
listen to most of the show on the radio. I
have to say that I was really impressed with the
way that like the we made so many shots. I
just feel like the last game like of missed a
lot of shots. And Jalen Lowe came in tonight, which

(35:42):
I was really happy about because I call himented on
one of us supposed to He liked it so I
was like, he's my best friend.

Speaker 1 (35:50):
So you commented on a Jalen post, Jalen Low post,
and he liked it.

Speaker 2 (35:54):
Well, that's probably why I played so well, I think,
so you should take full credit for it.

Speaker 4 (36:02):
Right, and Drew Yellovic, I think that he's gonna come up.
I'm a fan of the next Yelovick fan club.

Speaker 12 (36:10):
Let's go okay, all right?

Speaker 1 (36:11):
He played.

Speaker 2 (36:12):
I thought he played well tonight. He hit a couple
of shots. I thought he looked comfortable on the floor.
I like the way he plays. You know, he seems
to be able to play in a too big thing
pretty well. So I thought Yellovick was good tonight.

Speaker 9 (36:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (36:27):
I wish I could have seen it. I listened to
it on the radio. So how do you think they're
gonna play against I haven't seen U of L play
all year?

Speaker 13 (36:33):
How do you think?

Speaker 1 (36:34):
I don't know? I really don't.

Speaker 2 (36:36):
I mean, there's never been I appreciate the call. I've
always felt like I had a pretty good handle on
the U of L game. Like, if I look back,
I feel like I went into every one of those
games thinking that the team would that was gonna win,
ended up winning. They are only two times I've been
genuinely surprised by the result of the U of L game.
When the Fox Monk team lost to them, I was

(36:58):
surprised by that, and then I was surprised when we
won with George's and that year because we beat him
on their home floor and they were really good. But
generally speaking, I kind of feel like going into it
every year, you kind of know who's the better team.

Speaker 1 (37:18):
And I'm not sure that I like our upside long
term more than theirs. But I'm not sure who's better
right now.

Speaker 2 (37:27):
I don't really know because we've only I mean, today
was the first game we've had our whole team, and
you know, I do think we have our whole team
with Quaintans. I do think he's gonna play. I do
think he's gonna be a big deal. I don't think
we can When we signed Quaintance, we knew he was
not gonna be here at this game, So Billy, I
don't think we can use him not playing as an excuse,
you know what I mean, Like we knew when Mark

(37:48):
Pope signed Quaintance, he knew he would not be playing
in this game. So if jayle Low didn't play, that'd
be different. But I don't think if we if we
lose Tuesday, we can't go.

Speaker 1 (37:58):
Well, we didn't have jaydon Quaints. We didn't think we
were gonna have.

Speaker 3 (38:01):
He's still part of this team, ceiling, right.

Speaker 1 (38:04):
That's exactly right.

Speaker 2 (38:05):
But the question is today and today he's on the team,
but no one expected him to play. So you know,
part of when you bring in Jagan Quaints is you're
acknowledging he's not gonna play during a non conference So.

Speaker 3 (38:18):
Well, scary thought of adding that guy to this team.

Speaker 2 (38:22):
Yeah, especially if he gets if he's on the team
before February. If he doesn't join the team on mid February.
While I do think he'll play, I mean he's not
gonna be. You can't base the team around him if
he doesn't join until mid February, the question for me
is when's he gonna play. He was doing five on
zero drills apparently, which, by the way, you better be
able to score it.

Speaker 1 (38:41):
A five on zero drill.

Speaker 3 (38:44):
Back down your man.

Speaker 1 (38:45):
If you get it, you can beat a truble. But
but that says he's getting some game action, which is good.
Who's next? Noah, Noah, go ahead, and Noah.

Speaker 9 (38:55):
Hey, Matt.

Speaker 6 (38:56):
So, I'm actually in the middle of watching the recap
from the game. It was my wife's birthday to day,
so we went out for a night, dinner and dance banquet. Uh,
fun thing to celebrate for her. So I'm in the
middle of the recap watching it.

Speaker 16 (39:08):
But for.

Speaker 6 (39:10):
If you if you're not able to get like from
the the third party streamers that are probably getting knocked
off now after.

Speaker 2 (39:19):
That, I think the one I think the one Shannon
mentioned got knocked off tonight or else he didn't do it.

Speaker 6 (39:24):
I couldn't find him.

Speaker 1 (39:26):
Yeah, I else he didn't do it.

Speaker 2 (39:27):
Now I will say the Islamic one had twenty five
thousand people at one point.

Speaker 1 (39:32):
Billy, who would have.

Speaker 2 (39:33):
Ever thought people are watching Arabic UK basketball? That to me,
you know, say whatever you want. The world is small
and we can all come together for for basketball.

Speaker 1 (39:43):
But go ahead.

Speaker 6 (39:45):
Yeah, so, but I want to let people know with it.
So there's a different streamer, a guy that I found
who he takes if I'm correct from the name if
you look up just the letter oh underscore ball underscore.
He basically does all as far as what I can see,
all of the UK basketball. I think volleyball and football

(40:07):
basically takes the entire streams of the games, recording them,
but then takes out any commercial break, so you're actually
it's not just like a highlights real like I personally,
I like being able to watch and like sit and
watch like like I'm actually watching the game. So he
has the entire stream of the full game, just taking
out the commercials so it's not just like the random
highlights for it. So it feels like you get the

(40:28):
actual experience of the game.

Speaker 2 (40:30):
So that's okay, underscore, Okay, be careful though, don't don't
don't Narcy. Now, Shannon already did that to the.

Speaker 9 (40:36):
One he's been around for a while.

Speaker 6 (40:39):
I don't think he's gonna get an art, so I think.

Speaker 2 (40:42):
With how he does it all right, right, I appreciate
the call, But I wonder if the guy Shannon mentioned.

Speaker 1 (40:48):
I wonder what happened.

Speaker 2 (40:49):
Was he on there at all tonight, because I went
looking for him soon after the game started, didn't see it.

Speaker 1 (40:53):
I wonder if Shannon scared him from even doing.

Speaker 3 (40:57):
I don't know he brought it.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
Ryan Tip, the Arabic one.

Speaker 3 (41:03):
Well, I don't know if they said his name. That
was kind of what put him.

Speaker 1 (41:07):
He did tweet.

Speaker 2 (41:08):
He did tweet that somebody hadn't said his name, which
makes me think he paid someone to say his name
and they didn't say it.

Speaker 3 (41:15):
See, that's gonna make him upset.

Speaker 1 (41:16):
That's gonna make him sad.

Speaker 2 (41:18):
There has to be a level of trust between the
illegal streamer and the stream.

Speaker 1 (41:21):
Ee, and I don't know if there was tonight.

Speaker 2 (41:25):
I think, when's our next? When's our next illegally streamed game?
We still have like two more so I had to check,
all right, who's next?

Speaker 1 (41:34):
Danny?

Speaker 2 (41:34):
Go ahead?

Speaker 6 (41:38):
Yeah, So Jaden Quainton's Uh do you think he's an
immediate impact when he comes in?

Speaker 9 (41:47):
I mean, how good?

Speaker 13 (41:48):
I know.

Speaker 2 (41:49):
I mean, I think he's great, But I think any
kid who hasn't played basketball in over a year is
not gonna immediately come in in the middle of SEC
play and just be excellent.

Speaker 1 (42:01):
But yes, is he an impact?

Speaker 2 (42:02):
Like the dude's a freak. I mean, go there are
videos of him at Arizona State and now he can
play a lot because he got hurt. But when but
if you go watch him, I mean, he is a
freak of nature. And he was seventeen when he played
last year, so Yeah, he's gonna be and he's he's
gonna be one of those athletic guys where you're like,

(42:23):
oh my, but is he And I think he can
raise our ceiling. But I think a lot of it's
gonna depend on when he starts. If it if it's February, then.

Speaker 1 (42:32):
I don't know. But now if it's if it's SEC
play and he gets SEC play to ramp up, then
I think we're talking about something.

Speaker 9 (42:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (42:41):
Man, So I appreciate the call. Uh, here's a here's
a picture of Jaylen Lowe when he committed to Kentucky.
He did a live stream video and uh, he threw
the LS down up. See, I'm gonna love him this.
He's gonna be my favorite player. Well, he is my
favorite player. I you know now, in the world of

(43:03):
college basketball, some night when you're like, don't have anything
to do and you just turn a game on, you
might see a guy who will be a future cat
And and I got that a couple of times with
Jagulin low last year, and I was like, this kid's crazy,
but I love it.

Speaker 3 (43:16):
By the way, Kentucky plays Eastern Illinois next Friday.

Speaker 2 (43:19):
On next Friday is another illegal stream Yeah, that'll be
the That'll be the championship of the.

Speaker 3 (43:25):
B B d N United tip Off Classic presented by Kentucky.

Speaker 1 (43:27):
Turyal Kentucky Tourism. All Right, who's next? David? Go ahead?

Speaker 9 (43:32):
David, Hey, Matt, can you hear me?

Speaker 1 (43:36):
I can go ahead.

Speaker 6 (43:38):
I've been fortunate enough to go to the first two
games this season, and I got to say, malchais really
impressed me.

Speaker 17 (43:45):
And tell me if I'm wrong here, but he's kind
of reminded me of Nick Richards a little bit in
a way, a little bit and catching a lot of lobs.

Speaker 2 (43:53):
A little bit. I mean, I think he's a better
I think he's a better shooter than Nick. Nick was
a better defender.

Speaker 1 (43:59):
Uh Nick.

Speaker 2 (44:00):
Nick was a really good defender his last year. But yeah,
but I mean, part of is their hair looks alike
when they and when they play, but they do, but
they do catch the lob. Similarly, I think Moreno's upside
is huge. I mean it's huge. What's gonna be great
about him is unless he gets too good, he'll be

(44:22):
back next year and he'll be like a centerpiece of
the team next year. But he's great. I think he's
gonna be great. I mean at eighteen tonight. And the
thing is he can catch that lob and finish it.
And while guys like Nick Richards could do that easily, Willie,
We've had a lot of guys over the years who
were tall and just they just couldn't consistently finish that, right,

(44:44):
Just think about all the various dudes we've had like that.
He can do it and I and then he can
shoot threes, and long as he start making free throws,
I think he made his two tonight. Will be good.
Appreciate the call. Let's do Let's do one more, then
we'll take a final break. Travis, Travis, go ahead, Travis.

Speaker 1 (45:06):
Hey Man.

Speaker 6 (45:06):
Really enjoying the show tonight. I know this might be
a little random, but I really enjoyed the TV broadcast.
I gotta give props to Andrew Kappus. He sounded like
a ten year veteran on ESPN with Travis Ford, and
I just really enjoyed him.

Speaker 2 (45:20):
I thought he'd did a good job as well. Actually,
when listening, thought that, what how did he end up
doing that game? Didn't the other guy.

Speaker 1 (45:27):
Get hired to do or whatever? What happened to him?
I don't know. Well, I thought Andrew did a good job.
That's I agree with you.

Speaker 6 (45:36):
I'm glad you do. And I got a question for you.
I've lived here in Louisville, I work with a lot
of U of L fans, and with the game coming up,
should I be chesty with them or should I keep
just kind of be chill until after.

Speaker 2 (45:50):
The game and optimist, Okay, cautiously optimistic. I would not
talk trash because I don't know. Like I said, I
have no idea what's gonna happened in this game. I
don't even know what the line will be. I'm gonna
assume Louisville's gonna be favored, but they might not.

Speaker 1 (46:06):
I don't know. I mean, it is a completely up
in the air game, and you.

Speaker 2 (46:12):
Throw in first true road game, which we've not always
had the most success in. It's probably if you look
at their schedule, their biggest game of the year on
their court.

Speaker 1 (46:24):
They might I don't I don't even know if they
I don't think do they have duke this year.

Speaker 2 (46:26):
I think they had them last year, so I don't
even know if they have them this year at home,
So this is gonna I mean, I wouldn't be chesty
because I don't know if we I don't know what's
gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (46:37):
But I also wouldn't like be nervous, because I feel.

Speaker 6 (46:42):
Like it's I'm not nervous at all. It's just I
know if I need to stay my ground or just
kind of like what I just kind of wait.

Speaker 1 (46:48):
I do like Jalen Low, and I appreciate the call.
We'll talk after the game.

Speaker 2 (46:53):
In my view, we're better than them, but I don't
think that gap today is huge, and we're on their
home court, and I just believe in college basketball home
court means a lot, and it almost means a lot
more in Kentucky games because everybody shows up when we play,
whereas they don't always show up when other teams play.
So I would say we're better, but the home court

(47:17):
makes it a toss up. We'll take a break. Hey,
if I'm nine two eighty seven, do the final segment.

Speaker 1 (47:22):
This is the Local Toy Dealers KSR postgame Show. Welcome Back.

Speaker 2 (47:26):
Final segment, Local Toy Dealers KSR Postgame Show. The NBA
Cup is going on, which I'm sure most of you
did not know, but these courts are crazy.

Speaker 1 (47:38):
Did you see the one earlier today that was like
bright yellow. I think which which team?

Speaker 3 (47:44):
Right yellow? That sounds annoying for a basketball court.

Speaker 1 (47:47):
You gotta look at the picture. It was wild.

Speaker 2 (47:51):
Is there a game on that ap The Cavaliers scored
fifty points in the first quarter in their game tonight,
which is an insane amount of points for finished with
one hundred and forty six.

Speaker 3 (48:02):
Is that on ESPN or something? I can't find it.

Speaker 2 (48:04):
I think the games tonight are on Amazon. Oh okay,
you so I just turned on You said turn on
USC Northwestern?

Speaker 1 (48:11):
All right? I did that.

Speaker 3 (48:13):
Yeah, that's what I got on.

Speaker 1 (48:15):
That's that's exciting.

Speaker 2 (48:16):
Because of this YouTube ESPN thing. I don't even think
to turn on YouTube TV. It's actually hurt the other
channels because I don't even think to turn them on.
It's funny you start to learn you don't have to
have it after a while. I wonder if you know
you got you got the Arabic streams on YouTube, if
you if you need to watch.

Speaker 3 (48:35):
Anything people are in other ways?

Speaker 1 (48:37):
Yeah, all right, we'll do six and call it tonight.
Who's next?

Speaker 3 (48:40):
Before we do, it's time for the Johnny Rocker Personal
Injury Attorney money Maker of the game. This is a
new name, new name. Yeah, money maker called the.

Speaker 2 (48:48):
Money maker of the game. That's what Johnny Rocker. Where
is Johnny Rocker? By the way, I wonder if piece okay?
So that's right next to Taylor count You think he's
ever been to the backyard MMA file.

Speaker 3 (49:00):
That's a great question. I'm gonna have to ask him,
and you have to ask je quarterback.

Speaker 1 (49:04):
So this is the moneymaker of the game. Who you
pick it? That's right?

Speaker 3 (49:06):
Injured get small town compassion with big city results when
you call the Rocker at two seven zero three two
one four four two nine. And the story of the
night was Jalen Lowe. But how about the guy he
played pick and roll with most of the night? Malachai Moreno.
I thought David hit the nail on the head. Eighteen points,
ten rebounds, three assists, zero turnovers in one block in
twenty one minutes. Malachi Moreno, our second ever Johnny Rocker

(49:29):
personal injury attorney, moneymaker of the game.

Speaker 1 (49:31):
Money maker of the game.

Speaker 2 (49:33):
The text machine seven seven two seven seven four five
two five four one person rights Matt. I'm from Taylor
County and Terry calling that MMA fighting semi professional is
the most generous adjective anyone could use.

Speaker 1 (49:46):
I like it.

Speaker 2 (49:47):
I mean professional means you have to get paid. Do
you think they got paid? I guess I should have
asked that question.

Speaker 3 (49:51):
I mean paid in drinks and food for the night.

Speaker 1 (49:54):
Maybe yeah.

Speaker 7 (49:56):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (49:57):
By the way, lower lower level prices for the game.
You want to guess what the lower level price for
Kentucky for Louisville, Kentucky is like four hundred bucks? Looks
like yeah, it.

Speaker 2 (50:10):
Looks like about four hundred and forty bucks perticular for
lower level.

Speaker 3 (50:14):
Good guess, Billy, Thank you.

Speaker 1 (50:17):
You gotta compliment yourself.

Speaker 2 (50:19):
One Mercenary's first rule of Taylor County fight Club as
you shouldn't be talking about Taylor Carey Dutt County fight Club.

Speaker 1 (50:26):
Yeah, it doesn't.

Speaker 2 (50:26):
It doesn't exist anymore now. One person tells me that
in Pike County they do that every weekend.

Speaker 3 (50:32):
That's just a normal weekend for them.

Speaker 2 (50:35):
Another person says, Matt, you know that there are backyard
fights all over the state. They sometimes stream live on TikTok.
Please let me know when that happens.

Speaker 1 (50:46):
All right, I.

Speaker 2 (50:49):
Would love to watch one live on on TikTok. I
promise I won't knarc you like Shannon dip all right,
who's up next?

Speaker 3 (50:59):
Corey?

Speaker 16 (51:00):
Already go ahead, Cory, Hey, Matt, I'm just curious, Well,
first and foremost, what was then, at least at my
Twitter talking quite a bit? What do you think about
their big man's matching up against ours? How do you
think we compare?

Speaker 1 (51:15):
So I haven't.

Speaker 2 (51:16):
I haven't watched enough of the Frew guy, so I
don't know. I do like the matchup of Diabate against Prior.
I think we I think we can win that matchup,
but I don't know. Like Freu versus Gary, I just
haven't seen him, so I can't really say uh that,
I would just be guessing. Again, I watched a handful
of minutes of their Kansas game. It's hard because you

(51:36):
know they changed the roster. It's hard to know, so
I can't. I do think I think the Prior, uh, Diabate,
I'll take advantage Diabate.

Speaker 1 (51:47):
We were still on here, Billy, No, he's gone, No,
I said, are we still on here? Yeah for sure? Okay, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (51:56):
I think the point guard matchup, I think it's likely
Low and Aberdeen will play better than Brown, but Brown
is more town. Brown is a super talent, so like
if you do one of these things of let's say
everybody is at their peak performance, Brown will be the
best player on the court.

Speaker 1 (52:14):
But I don't know if he'll be at his peak performance.
I mean, he wasn't against Kansas.

Speaker 2 (52:18):
He has been pretty good in these two games to
start the season, but they haven't been playing anybody. So
we'll see what happens when he plays. You know, he's
played one game against a good team and did not
play well, So we'll see what happens.

Speaker 1 (52:29):
In this one. Five more, Who's next, Jackson? Jackson?

Speaker 11 (52:32):
Go ahead, Jackson, Hey, Matt, So great games and I
first things. First, I saw analytically were ranked third in
the country defensively, which is it's only been two games,
but we haven't had a top twenty defense since twenty nineteen,
which is kind of crazy.

Speaker 1 (52:50):
It is crazy.

Speaker 2 (52:50):
And for Mark Pope, for Mark Pope to have a
top twenty defense, yeah, I mean historically that's not his
teams haven't done that, So I mean that's a really
good sign if that keeps up.

Speaker 11 (53:03):
Yeah, I mean it would be electric to have a
great defense this year. So yeah, love, it's only been
two games, but still, you know, scheduling for the analytics.

Speaker 2 (53:12):
I love that.

Speaker 11 (53:13):
And the second thing is it seems like the days
of random guys coming into Reperena and going nuts on
us seems to not be a thing under Mark Pope
in two years or a year and two games, we
haven't seen it so far, so any common.

Speaker 1 (53:27):
That's a great point.

Speaker 2 (53:28):
I think it's I think it's a scouting thing, to
be honest with you. I mean, I think when I
think Col's view, in my opinion, way too long into
the season sometimes even in the tournament, is.

Speaker 1 (53:40):
We do what we do.

Speaker 2 (53:41):
We don't worry about what you do. Uh, And what
that can lead sometimes is the only guy that can
beat you will go off. We've seen it. We've seen
it over the year, especially in Reperina. These Pope, I
mean like they're breaking down these teams. They know the tendencies.
I mean, listen to Pope in a you've heard this billy.
Listen to Pope when he does his pregame interview with

(54:03):
Tom Leech mm hm, Like he knows every player on
the team. He rattles off the numbers, what they do.
He usually doesn't say their names, he says their uniform number.
He rattles it all like it's clear he knows, he
knows everybody, he knows what they're gonna do, So I
think it makes it less likely. I think they come
into these games and go, Okay, Valpo or a team

(54:24):
like Vappel's got one or two guys that can maybe
score on us. We shut them down and we make
these other guys beat us, and usually they're gonna have
a hard time doing that. When you're getting to the third, four, fifth,
sixth guy.

Speaker 1 (54:35):
On a team. Four more, who's next.

Speaker 2 (54:40):
Let's go to Brad, Brad, Go ahead, Brad, Brad, all right, No,
Brad A five nine, two, eight oh twenty two eighty seven.

Speaker 1 (54:51):
Who's next?

Speaker 3 (54:52):
Caleb?

Speaker 1 (54:52):
Caleb, go ahead, Caleb, Hey, Matt, what's up?

Speaker 8 (54:59):
First time?

Speaker 11 (54:59):
Long time?

Speaker 1 (55:00):
Who?

Speaker 17 (55:02):
I just wanted to say. You know, we've talked a
lot about about who's going to be pushed out when
we get we get all healthy and JQ gets back,
but nobody's really talked about Brendan Garrison taking that role.
With Maliki really really flourishing and JQ coming back at
the at the five, you know, I want to get
your take on what you think about Brendan Garrison maybe
getting pushed off to the side. I mean, I love him,

(55:23):
I love how far it.

Speaker 2 (55:24):
Is, but I don't think it's impossible. I don't think
it's impossible. I'd be a little surprised. I think defensively,
they really like what Garrison does, and he's more physical
than Malachai. So I think defensively is why it's more
likely to him stay on the court. But I could
see a world where you go, well, wait a minute,
Malachi's offense maybe makes up for some of the Abate's

(55:49):
offensive weakness. The Abates defense helps Malachi, and then Garrison
and Yellovich.

Speaker 1 (55:54):
Yellovich had some offense, Garrison defense. I could see it.
I don't think it's crazy.

Speaker 2 (55:58):
Uh, I think they'll I'll stay with Garrison until but
if Malachi scores eighteen a game, he's gonna be starting.
So a lot of it depends on because I don't
think Brian Garrison's not gonna do that. So, but my
initial reaction would be I would expect Garrison to keep
it now when quaintance comes.

Speaker 1 (56:15):
If he were to start in December, then by February
he'll be starting. But we'll we'll, we'll see what happens.
Free more. Who's next Ryan Ryan go ahead, Ryan, Hey.

Speaker 6 (56:27):
Matt, I just wanted to call and say, you know
that the first half of the game. I don't know
if there's a team in the country that could be
the first half Kentucky tonight for sure, you know, trying
to slow the things down the second half. And then
I did also want to call in just to take
up for Taylor coun I'm actually driving through Leman now
home back to Taylor County. We're not all in our backyards,
mma fighting we are. We're trying to clean it up

(56:48):
a little. We're getting a zaxis, you know, So it's
not all.

Speaker 1 (56:54):
You're an acting like I don't. I don't think that's good.

Speaker 2 (56:57):
First of all, I've been to Campbellsville, next to Lexington,
Louisville and Middlesbrough. I've been there more than anywhere else
in Kentucky. All Right, you have the best, mister Gaddies.
Is that still open?

Speaker 6 (57:08):
I'll give you that. I'll give you that.

Speaker 1 (57:10):
You got the best, mister Gaddies. You're getting a Zaxby's,
Is that right?

Speaker 6 (57:15):
Got Zaxby's. We just got a cookout a couple of
years ago, So things are looking.

Speaker 2 (57:19):
See that's good a minute, that's high class. Middlesborol does
not have a cookout or a Zaxby's, so like you got. Now,
that's a huge uptick in the quality of fast food restaurants.

Speaker 6 (57:31):
And that's that's what I'm trying to say. You know,
come to Taylor County, eat your cookout, eat your Zaxby's,
and if you want to stay for an MMA fight,
you know there's options there.

Speaker 2 (57:38):
It's just not all you know, sounds like a fun night,
it's not gonna lie. I appreciate the call cookout.

Speaker 1 (57:45):
I see.

Speaker 2 (57:45):
I didn't think cookout went to places like Campbellsville. I
thought that was more like of a Lexington, Louisville.

Speaker 5 (57:50):
MM.

Speaker 3 (57:50):
Cookouts good. Anytime you get a corn dog as a size.

Speaker 1 (57:54):
That should be my next investment. Bring a cookout to Middlesborough.

Speaker 3 (57:58):
I could see it doing well enough people in Middlesborough.

Speaker 2 (58:01):
To well we got we got lmu over in Cumberland
Gap those kids like those kids like a good hand.

Speaker 1 (58:06):
Murder two more.

Speaker 3 (58:07):
Who's next, Jason, Jason?

Speaker 1 (58:09):
Go ahead? Jason?

Speaker 13 (58:11):
Hey, uh, let me let me first start off say
I'll work in Taylor Downing. We'd love to have to
come back and do another live show there. I went
the last time you were at a Yaddy's back and
I think, yeah.

Speaker 2 (58:22):
Well, we used that usually happens in the summer, and
I was gone two summers ago to Europe and then
this summer we didn't do it. We're probably gonna do
some summer stops this summer, so hopefully they'll bring us there.

Speaker 13 (58:34):
Awesome. So the reason I called I've got a stat
You're gonna love I gotta stat. I know you're gonna
love this. You know how at the beginning of the show,
you were talking about true road games. Yes, okay, So
go back to Kentucky's three title teams ninety six, ninety eight,
last three title tall team ninety twenty twelve. Out of

(58:57):
those three teams only had one true road lost between
them out of all three.

Speaker 1 (59:05):
Interesting but the Indiana right Indiana.

Speaker 13 (59:08):
That that was it. That was the one that was
on the last second shot by Watford. As we know that.
The other ones ninety six they lost to UMass on
New York Court, they lost at Missisispi State, and the
SEC tournaments from New crak Court. In ninety eight they
lost to Arizona and Mali, and then the other three
were Louisville Florida and old mess at home, and then

(59:31):
of course in twenty twelve the Indiana game that did
you mentioned, and then.

Speaker 1 (59:37):
We lost. We lost three home games and didn't lose
any road games. That's interesting exactly.

Speaker 13 (59:42):
Yeah, So I say, let's let's let's start it out
with the win on Tuesday night. Let's I want to
see Rogue Warriors this year, we do that. And at
twenty twelve or twenty twenty fifteen, you know, was their
other best team? Obviously they went, Yeah, you're right.

Speaker 2 (59:57):
I've always judged teams by how they do on the road,
and I appreciate the call specifically how they do their
mentality on the road, because you know, like in twenty ten,
we lost a couple, we lost, won two games on
the road, but like those guys liked being on the road.

Speaker 1 (01:00:15):
I think part of what I want to see is, like,
you know, win or lose.

Speaker 2 (01:00:19):
What's what's their attitude in that, because we've had teams
look scared in those games. You know, we've had teams
who just couldn't win on the road. You know, I
think it's Robert Goulay who said anybody can win at home,
but a true team wins on the road. He said
that in that song Patino and the Cats. Will you
play that for me before this thing? Will you look

(01:00:39):
that up?

Speaker 3 (01:00:39):
Patino and the Cats.

Speaker 1 (01:00:41):
Yeah, it's like ESPN two. He has a song. It's
called Robert Goulay. Look it up.

Speaker 2 (01:00:46):
It's on YouTube. It'll be like Patino and the Cats,
they go riding together. It's goes something like that. Okay,
if you find it, I'll be impressed. Two more, who's next?

Speaker 3 (01:00:56):
We only have one more?

Speaker 1 (01:00:57):
And it's bruh, Well somebody else is gonna cut to
call because we have more? Oh okay? Or did I
say one more?

Speaker 3 (01:01:03):
Well you said six more and this is the sixth.

Speaker 1 (01:01:07):
Oh okay, well then this will be the last one.
Go ahead. Who's up?

Speaker 3 (01:01:10):
Brian?

Speaker 1 (01:01:11):
Brian? Go ahead? Brian.

Speaker 9 (01:01:13):
Hey, buddy, guys, want thank you all for your show.
I love it. My question is what's your opinion on
the portal? I mean, I know it allowed us to
get better players than the teams would more money get
the better players. So is it an epict in the
cinderellas that.

Speaker 1 (01:01:30):
Will never see a little bit? A little bit? I
mean it's well yes and no. Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:01:36):
So we lost to Oakland in the portal era. Right,
Yale beat Auburn. Yale beat Auburn in the tournament in
the portal era. Last year there was any McNee state
last year one in the portal era. Now, what is
happening is, I think you're seeing a lot less upsets
here in the non conference. But the reason I think

(01:01:58):
that's happening is less the portal than what we talked about.
Did you hear what we talked about on the show
earlier this week about scheduling philosophies.

Speaker 1 (01:02:07):
Did you hear that? The basic is this? The basic
is this. They've now changed the way they do.

Speaker 2 (01:02:15):
They now use the net to see the tournament and
the net whereas the RPI used to value the teams
you played, whether or not you won or lost. So
like playing a good team and losing sometimes it is
better than playing a bad team and winning. The NET
values winning, and it values margin of victory. Margin of

(01:02:36):
victory is now part of it the end the RPI,
It really wasn't so because of that schedule, Like these
coaches and ads have realized it's better to beat teams
by thirty than to beat a team by ten.

Speaker 1 (01:02:49):
So there's a story on the athletic.

Speaker 2 (01:02:51):
About how Belmont and schools like that they can't get
anybody to play them, because now these schools are saying,
rather than play Belmont, which used to be a game
that helped you in the RPI, Belmont.

Speaker 1 (01:03:02):
Make the tournament, then you could have beaten a tournament team.

Speaker 2 (01:03:06):
Now beating Belmont by ten is much worse than beating
Valpo by fifty, and so now these teams are all
scheduling Valpol. So I think the kind of teams that
used to pull off those games that you and I
like to see, they're just not getting to play. These teams,
so like the Belmonts of the world just aren't getting
to play games.

Speaker 1 (01:03:24):
That they can pull the upset on.

Speaker 2 (01:03:26):
And I think that's really what's happening more than there's
just these huge gaps in who everybody's playing. So I
think they got to fix that because they need to
make this non conference better. And to do that, I
think they're gonna have to encourage find ways to encourage
teams to play the Yales, the Belmonts, the teams like
that that can actually get pulled off an upset.

Speaker 9 (01:03:46):
Yeah, I mean, I agree. You think the portal hasfect on.

Speaker 14 (01:03:50):
I mean.

Speaker 9 (01:03:55):
It seems like the parody is getting center and center
as the years come out.

Speaker 2 (01:03:59):
It is, and the portal is part of it. But
I think the portal giveth and the portal taketh away.
One of the good things about the portal is teams can.
Teams can be good, new teams can be good. H
think about how good the SEC was last year. Right,
that's also because of the portal too.

Speaker 9 (01:04:15):
Yeah, I agree with that. I agree with that. And
these teams have a lot of money, can get the
best players, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:04:21):
Yeah, but it does hurt. I agree it hurts these
small schools. But I also think the kind of small
schools that can win these games, they're not getting a
chance to play them because of the new They're going
to have to fix that, I think, but appreciate it. No,
it's because of the new way they're doing the tournament.
It's because of the net. They got to fix the
net to make it to where teams like Kentucky want

(01:04:41):
to play Belmont instead of wanting to play Eastern Illinois.

Speaker 1 (01:04:44):
That's what they need to do.

Speaker 9 (01:04:46):
And I dad help recruiting for those schools.

Speaker 1 (01:04:49):
Yeah, I appreciate, appreciate the call. Do you have that
little song.

Speaker 3 (01:04:53):
No, I couldn't find it. I only found Patino got
ran over by a Wildcat? Do you want to hear
any of that?

Speaker 1 (01:04:58):
Patino Got ran over?

Speaker 3 (01:05:01):
It's a song.

Speaker 1 (01:05:02):
It's all right, not what you look, not what I
asked you for, But go ahead.

Speaker 3 (01:05:05):
You want it anyway, all right?

Speaker 7 (01:05:06):
Sure?

Speaker 1 (01:05:07):
Over by a wild can leave the Freedom Haul on
Christmas Eve? You could say it was a chance encounter.

Speaker 3 (01:05:19):
But as for me and Tubby, we believe about that.

Speaker 1 (01:05:27):
That's not as good as what I wanted to hear.
But I did not know that song existed. Who is it?
Who is it? That's singing?

Speaker 3 (01:05:35):
That looks like a fan made video.

Speaker 2 (01:05:39):
That's actually sounding well produced for a fan made video,
And that's probably what two thousand so that was the Sparks. Yeah,
that was here, Patrick Sparks got fouled on the free throw?

Speaker 1 (01:05:50):
So what was that?

Speaker 2 (01:05:51):
Two thousand and seven, thousand, two thousand and seven, two thousand,
four years out?

Speaker 1 (01:06:00):
Over love can all right?

Speaker 3 (01:06:03):
Sorry I'm distracted by this.

Speaker 1 (01:06:04):
Yeah, just turn it out, UK, I can go happy.
Can't just get it off, all right?

Speaker 2 (01:06:08):
So thank you all very much for listening, Thanks for
Billy for finding that great song. We will be back

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
