Speaker 1 (00:06):
NFL Cover Zero with Matt Jones and Drew Franklin is
a production of the NFL and iHeart podcast. It is
Week eleven of NFL Cover Zero. Matt Jones and Drew
Franklin on the precipice of our trip this weekend to
(00:29):
Buffalo for Buffalo and Tampa Bay. We are taking off
from Kentucky on what will be certainly a beautiful drive
up through Akron, Cleveland Erie, Pennsylvania. Some people call it
America's most beautiful highway to Buffalo. Drew, are you excited
for the first time NFL Cover zero goes on the road.
(00:51):
I am very excited.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Always enjoy going on road trips with you guys anyway,
But a Bill's game has been high on my sports
bucket list for a long time. I even said that
on the show You did too, before we even knew
this was a possibility earlier in the season. So I
am fired up to get out there. I'm a big tailgater.
I want to see the mafia and in full speed.
I'm looking forward to being a part of it. Weather
doesn't look like it's gonna be too bad.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
I mean, we wondered about that going through obviously the
game is gonna be fun. Two great teams. Billy gets
to see his Tampa Bay Bucks. I get to see
my football crush, Josh Allen. But more importantly, have you
ever made that drive before between Akron, Cleveland, Eerie Buffalo?
Speaker 2 (01:34):
You would have been to Buffalo, but I think we
were coming from the area, and this is one of
the few major roads in America I've never been on.
I've been up to Cleveland, but Cleveland to Buffalo.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
You go along the lake, you get the Lake Effect snow,
you get Lake Erie. Canada. You can like you can spit,
although I think that'd be rude, but you could spin
and it would go into Canada. I would like to
take you all to Canada, but not one, but two
of you do not have a passport, which is crazy
to me. That's my bad. You're bad. I mean we ruse.
(02:11):
You don't ruse how close we are to Canada there
and we're not going to get to go. I might
go and leave you. We might go get poutine and
come back. We might go and leave you.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Well.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
I know you've had issues at the border between king I.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Stopped at the Canadian border twice, but I feel like
third times at charm.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
I'm banned from a stadium in Canada.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
That's true, also a problem. But we can leave you
in Buffalo and then go across Niagara Falls to Toronto.
But I am looking forward to it. We're talking about
maybe staying Saturday night NEARI Pennsylvania, which people say what
happens in Erie is not talked about, not because it's
scandalis because no one wants to. But but it should
(02:50):
be fun. And we have press It's the first time
we've had NFL press credentials. How about that.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Yeah, we've We've had fun cover a lot of sporting events,
but I've never been able to go to an NFL game.
I guess we'll probably jump right in, do the interviewing
like we're just one of the regular b reporters around there.
I'll do a little working from the press box, whatever,
whatever we're allowed to do.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
I want to say, Tony Romo game or Tom Brady.
Do I get to see one of those guys.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
I'll look it up.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Do you know who the announcers are? We'll look that
up'd be funny if our friend Iron Eagle was there.
I will say this. They approve your credentials a lot
faster when you're with the NFL. Usually, if I ask
for credentials to an event like this, they called me, go,
who are you? Why do you want to come here?
Kentucky's not playing right this time? Thirty Secondariot, Yeah, got
(03:35):
that approval, like almost instantly. They were very precise about
their head shots. That took a little I even had
to like redo it. So they want to make sure
you're looking good on that pass. The other night said
on a headshot, do not face to the left. I'm like,
but that's my best side. Look see watch look at
me right now in the video. Now go see why
could not wanted to you see what I wanted to do?
(03:57):
This should be your credential, just me, just me moving. Well,
they didn't let me do that, but we're looking. We're
looking forward to the trip.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
It's an eagle and yeah, let's not tell him. Let's
just walk up behind him.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
So Ian's gonna be there and J well, I don't
know JJ, but Iron's my buddy. Maybe we can go
out Saturday night with Iron. Yeah, he's gonna talk about
credential stuff. Why are you all here that he's gonna
hit us a what the hell are you all doing
to that would that that would be really funny if
we did not. The problem is we probably can't get
in the booth. But if we didn't even tell him
(04:32):
slid up there and just walked behind him and gave
him like a noogie collins Worth slide right, he'll chair
up next to him, that would be the what are
you doing here?
Speaker 2 (04:43):
He could be listening to prepare for the NFL weekend?
Speaker 1 (04:46):
Well, Ian, we'll see you. We'll see you on Sunday
for Buffalo and UH and Tampa. If you're in Buffalo,
come say hi to us. I can't tell you where, Billy,
do you have a bar yet for us to do
the show? Yes?
Speaker 2 (05:00):
After the game.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
I don't say it yet, okay, because we don't know
for sure that's the place. You don't everybody going there.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
I've been making calls though, so we will be ready.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
What do you say to the people when you come?
There's a main mainstream NFL podcast that would like to
be in your building.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
I was dropping the NFL like it was my job, Like,
how what do you say? Hey, this is Billy Rutledge.
I'm with iHeartRadio and the NFL and we're looking to collaborate.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
I mean you felt you felt confident enough to say
you were with the NFL.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Yeah, I mean, I mean I'm looking at the logo
right behind.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
That feels very confident to say you are with the NFL.
I mean that would be only Look if there was
an NFL organizational chart. I think it's fairly certain you're
at the very bottom. But on the list you're not
not with the NFL. But I wouldn't say you're with
the NFL either. I think that's a stretch. Maybe I'm
(05:57):
doing something for the NFL.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
EH didn't have the same range it. I put NFL
Network in my Instagram.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
Yeah, come on, I don't have a bio.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
I just tag every account, ksr ks bar all the
stuff we do. And I just added an NFL network
to the bottom and sneaking that in.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
Yeah. Well, today I spoke at the university here in
Kentucky and they asked and they asked me to do
my bio and I was like, Tucky Sports Radio, ESPN Radio,
blah blah. And then the professor goes, how about the NFL?
And I was like, I don't know, if I feel
comfortable that'd be like me just adding Netflix because I
was on it one.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
Oh good call documentary star.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
Well, all right, so you you said I'm with the
not with I'm from the NFL.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
No, I'm with the NFL. And we're looking to collab
with a local sports bar. We'll be able to give
you some free promotion on a national show to the
region NFL.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
Yeah, all right, Well, hopefully we'll have some success. We're
looking forward to it. And Erie, if you're in Erie,
if you have a suggestion of what we can do
in Erie seven seven to two seven seven four five
two five for the text machine, let us know. Where
do you eat in Eary? You know what is there
to do? Where's the party? Where is the party in Erie?
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Because we've had many random knights in Pennsylvania towns that
aren't Pittsburgh or Philly had a good time.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
Harri's never been We've never been up there like that
little corner.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
That state never lets us down. We have been there
random towns.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
That's true. All right, this is our midweek show, so
we're going to try to get the news. Billy has
come up with what he believes are the top ten
NFL stories this week. These are a no particular order, right,
this is not like an order of how important you
think correct. So these are just randomly random NFL stories. Billy,
I'm gonna let you go, and we're gonna do some
(07:44):
commentary on Let's go. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
The first one is the Giants decided to fire head
coach Brian Dable. They kept their GM, but Brian is
out after a twenty forty and one record as head coach.
He was Coach of the Year his first season in
twenty twenty two, but with Jackson Dark and another poor
start to the season, Brian Dable is out in New York.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
Yeah, yeah, not a shock. I mean I think he
probably he probably got fired the moment Jackson Dart got
that concussion, right, because, I mean, the only reason you
would have kept day Ball is the idea because you
know he helped develop Josh Allen in Buffalo. Is that
you go, Okay, well, maybe he can do it with
Jackson Dart. Then once he's out with the concussion, there's
probably not a lot of reason to rush Jackson Dart back.
(08:27):
So you say, why am I doing this with day Ball?
Speaker 2 (08:30):
Right, And it seemed like they were heading for this
in the beginning of the year with Russell Wilson just
chucking it out of the stadium every time he got
a chance.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
But then the.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
Rookie combo of Darden Scataboo brought some swag, They got
a few unexpected wins, got some life in that fan base.
But then then with those two out, they've gone right
back to dead and just that they needed to make
the change.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
And the Bears knocked him out too. I mean the
Bears were, They're up two scores against the Bears, they
blow the game, have a chance at the end. Russell
Wilson looks like Drew out there playing quarterback at the end.
It is odd to me though they kept the GM,
and maybe it's because of hard knocks sort of associate
those two at the hip, you know, and the fact
(09:10):
that they kept one and not the other. And I
would assume that means they're keeping Joe Shane during the offseason,
like there would be no reason not to fire him
now if you're going to keep him at the end
of the year.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
Yeah, And it shows how close it was and people
thought might ever happened, because every story I read it's
like very intentional in the headline, you know, coach fired,
kept GM. They want they make they're making that point,
because a lot of people assume that they both would
go about the same time.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
Do you think she said to the GM, Yeah, I
mean was it a I don't know, was it like
you have to fire him or else you're gone? I mean,
I don't I never understand who makes these decisions. Like
in theory it should be the GM, but if you
also might lose your job, I guess it's the president, right.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
Yeah, or the owner right over your shoulder that doesn't
like what the GM's doing.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
Well, he seems very involved from hard Knocks Mara like
he was in the he's in the draft room and stuff.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
So, but they had an incredible draft. I think that's
probably why the GM stayed. I mean they got Abdull
Carter at three or whatever, and then Scataboo looks like
he panned out, and then talk Dart was a gamble.
You know, everybody was talking in that spot. So I
guess with the GM, you're like tough to fire him
after the.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
Draft he had. He did have a really good draft.
You are the owner of a team, would you be involved,
Like let's say Drew Franklin gets to own the Titans.
How much are you involved in the day to day decisions.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
I would want to for a little bit, but I
would also recognize, like quickly, if I'm not good at it,
I would get out of the way. There's a lot
of owners that can't look in the mirror and realize
that they're, you know, doing too much, not capable of it,
and they just messed things up. I would be in
the room for a few days, a few weeks, and
if I realize I'm in over my head, I'm like,
all right, I'm getting out the way. I'll be in
my suite watching you all bring me a good team.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
See, I worry I'd be really involved. You would be
very involved, like the I mean, I would be very involved.
You don't know that. Well, we watched you see people
at our restaurant. What I knew you were going to
say that. I knew you were going to be a jerk,
and I knew you were going to say that. But
you're right, I do do that. Yeah, I don't know,
(11:13):
because I would definitely want to know, Okay, why are
you doing this? But I would probably let them make
the decision. So I don't think I would be Jerry Jones.
But I also would do something right, like what was
the point of buying the team unless I can.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
I would want to be liked by my fans, And
there are a lot of owners whose fans do not
like them because their hands are too involved team's not good.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
What would you do to be liked?
Speaker 2 (11:41):
Stay out of the way when things aren't going.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
When they're bad, they're going to blame you anyway, like
you're gonna get it. It's like again, you use an
example of the restaurant. If somebody comes to the restaurant
and has a bad meal, they blame me, even though
I didn't cook it. So shouldn't I try to make
sure as much as I can it's cooked.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
Well, Yeah, I guess owning the team though, if I
don't know what I'm doing, I'm just removing myself and
then blaming everyone. I'm like, I'm in my suite having
fun with my friends.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
I have a witched owner.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
That's probably what I would do. Okay, you asked me
the question. Yeah, that's probably what I would do. I
would not want to be Jerry with my hand on everything.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
It's interesting. So the owner, like the Bears owner, is
an old lady McCluskey. McCluskey, McCluskey anyway, she's beloved. She's
like in her eighties, and I think people know she's not.
She didn't select Caleb Williams, and the Bears haven't been
particularly good. So maybe that's what you want to be.
You need to be the little old lady in her pearls.
(12:38):
I will happily be a little old lady.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Now, if we have the number one pick or something, Hey,
I'm getting in there, and so you are going to
be I'm listening. But if I have a quarterback I
love or something, I'm gonna have a little influence. I
would not override everyone, but I would be in the
room like, hey.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
Okay, so that's really like question. All right, So it's
Caleb Williams Jadeen Daniels, and you're the Bears, and you
own the Bears, and you've seen both these guys play
and they say, I want to pick Jayden Daniel. But
you really believe Caleb Williams is better, Like you really
believe what are you doing? This is easy.
Speaker 2 (13:13):
I'll look at him, I say, look, I really like
Kay Williams. I'd love to see him in my uniform.
But I hired you all to make these decisions. If
you go the other way, that's fine, but you will
be quick to the unemployment office if it doesn't work out.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
How are you going quick to the unemployment off.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
Like, I'm letting you do it, but just know that
I have this in mind. But it's all on you,
and if it works, I'm putting the credit on.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Youbo you knew, Okay, in that case, you could have
made a case for both of them. What if it
was somebody like Anthony Richardson that you knew you and
I knew when he was in Florida he was a
bust and they come to you and say, we're picking
Anthony Richardson. Are you vetoeing it? Yeah? I think I'd
have to think if.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
It's someone that I truly believe that will they will
not work out. I couldn't, you know, with my own money.
Let my GM go do it time.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
But if it's closer, I ty gos the GM.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
But I'm putting all the credit one way or the
other on them.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
Yeah. I think I would be very involved, but I wouldn't.
I would not pick the seventh round pick.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
Yeah, I'm not out there watching the lineman. I'm going
to But if we have the number one pick and
there's like some because that's your franchise, that's your marketing,
that's your whole thing'd be a little more active in that.
Speaker 3 (14:21):
We've seen Jim Ursay's daughter really be involved. She's wearing
a headset on the side.
Speaker 1 (14:25):
I don't know why that bothers people because I actually
think as long as she's on the sideline and she's
not communicating, she's just listening. What is wrong with wanting
to know what's happening? Again, to use the restaurant example,
that would be like me sitting in the back and
watching the cooks. Shouldn't I want to know how my
(14:48):
restaurant is run, how my coaches do their jobs. Is
that wrong?
Speaker 3 (14:52):
No, I think it's a great idea. I just think
the narrative would be different there.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
She's gotten a lot of criticism for that some and
I don't think that's fair. I think she I think
she should do that.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
Seems to be staying out of the way and just listening.
Like Eve, when you see her, she's off by herself.
She's got a little notepade. You know, she's writing stuff down.
She also did something what I would do when I
saw about me being an owner when they were in Berlin.
Did you see she went to the bar full of
Colts fans and picked up the tab just strolling.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
That's the kind of stuff i'd he do, a thing
you do as an owner. You come in and you go, okay,
I got this for everybody.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
They're loving her, right players fans of course, team being
eight and two helps, but uh, you know this is
their first season doing all this and they're loving her.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
Yeah. I think you do a lot of that stuff
because because if you're that rich, you know, one five
thousand dollars bar tab.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
I went to the Titans played the Chiefs in the playoffs,
and I made the trip. We weren't supposed to be
in the game. It also had to go and we
had a Titans party and the owner came in.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
She didn't bother the round.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
But it was like everybody celebrated and she was going
around meeting people city.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
She didn't buy anything though, I don't remember her buying
her round.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
I didn't see much, I don't know, but just just
being in there like you're the road team, you're you're
the away team, you're out numbered. It's like we're all
in the same spot. And then ownership in the GM
roll in and start hanging out. That's pretty neat. I
think I would do a lot of that ifire in
their shoes. Well, sorry to Brian day Ball. He'll find
an OC job.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
Somebody will, somebody will hire him like he's he's had
enough success at it, He'll he'll get one.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
Well, there's rumors that the Bills might bring him back
since they've been stagnant on offense.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
And wouldn't make sense. He obviously has a good relationship
with Josh Allen, so uh uh, you know, it's kind
of like in uh old Brother, where arn't theyu? When
he sees the the what's the guy's name? That Rob's
Banks baby face? He says, I don't think that's the
last we've seen of old baby face Nelson.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
It's funny bring that up. I might be watching that
movie tonight. It's like tonight and excellent.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
I have that. I now have that in my top
five of movies I really do like in terms of rewatchable,
I may have seen. If you're saying what movies Matt
Jones and no one's saying this, but if they were,
what are the five movies you've watched the most? Caddy
Shack is number one brother, where Art thew might be
(17:09):
number two. It's that or The Godfather.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
I'm married into an Old Brother family. Anytime they're together,
it's like, well, let's watch Old Brothers. So that's become
like a tradition. Even though I loved it when it
first came out, now I've seen it so many more
times in the past few years.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
Was it big when it first came out. I don't remember.
I think it's one. It's like Office Space another Office
Space bombed when it came out and then got it's huge,
like everybody knows office Space now. But I don't think
anybody watched it when it.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
Came I don't remember it being that big when it
was out. I just remember catching with Clooney and the
music and bluegrass kind of type stuff.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
Liking it.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
But uh yeah, it's one of the more rewatchable movies
for sure.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
I'm not kidding what.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
I'm probably gonna watch it tonight.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
We have have dialed up, all right, what's next?
Speaker 3 (17:49):
Former Tennessee Titans wide receiver AJ Brown made some interesting
comments over the weekend. Now with the Philadelphia Eagles, he
was on a Twitch stream playing mad everybody's.
Speaker 1 (17:58):
On twitch streams and they all say, say, does anyone
ever say anything intellectual on a twitch stream? It feels
like every time the story starts, he was on a
twit stream. Then you get something that makes people mad.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
Do we need to be twitching?
Speaker 1 (18:09):
Mario? Shall we be twitch streaming that? I'm you act
like I don't.
Speaker 3 (18:13):
He acts like Mari and I haven't talked about us already.
We'll be doing that next summer, all right, go ahead? Yeah,
so he said, in reference to the Eagles offense, it's
a bleep show.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
I'm struggling. If you got me on fantasy, get rid
of me.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
And then when reporters asked him about it today, he
doubled down and it said, it's not just solely about
my situation.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
I want to win too.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
I think if we're really focused on winning and doing
our job, we can't just keep slapping a band aid
over the defense doing their job and getting us out
of trouble. At what point are we going to pick
up the slack as an offense that.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
You would hear those quotes and you would think they're awful,
but they're seven and two, right? So is he mad
that he really thinks the offense is bad? Or is
he mad that he's not getting the ball. Yeah, there was.
They had a couple of weeks, but that's since been fixed.
They did to be fair against green Bay, but they.
Speaker 2 (19:03):
Will sure the green Bay game One is good out
just I like aj Arthur one is what I call him.
But he's got to be the NFL Arthur one, Arthur
one Brown. He has to be the NFL's leading diva
right now. And I say that would love. I feel
like we've had six of these stories this season of
him little.
Speaker 1 (19:22):
Comments here and there. What do you think if they
were five and four but he had his yards up?
Speaker 2 (19:27):
Do you think you would complained? Probably not. He says
he wants to be a part of winning, but they're winning.
I know, Jay. He says he wants the conversation to
be winning. It's like, well, you're one talking. Jalen Hurts said,
we have to stop shining light on all these stories
pretty much like.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
Well, I mean they craig me if I'm wrong. They
won the Super Bowl Lash, Yeah, defending champs. They are
currently tied for first in the NFC this year. Correct, yep,
what does he want the ball because he's a wide receiver.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
Yeah, he took a back seat to Saquon when Saquon
ran for two thousand yards last year. So exactly we
thought this year was going to be his big year
and just hasn't happened.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
So he was on a Twitch stream. What were they
streaming Madden?
Speaker 3 (20:09):
They were playing Madden?
Speaker 1 (20:10):
Who's they? Who's he playing? Whoever?
Speaker 2 (20:12):
The Twitch streamer that is hosting the stream?
Speaker 1 (20:14):
So you're telling me that, like just some kids playing
Mad Yeah, And then all of a sudden, AJ Brown plays.
Speaker 3 (20:20):
They're playing with aj Yeah, and he's on the mic
talking to them, and he's streaming it. I'm not sure.
I don't think he is. I don't think he's the
one hosting the stream. I think it was another person.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
So did they know each other before?
Speaker 2 (20:32):
Don't know that either. It does seem most news comes
from all the players having their own podcast or streaming
a game. It's you know, they say nothing to the
media now, and then they just go home and turn
on the computer and say.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
But what I don't understand is why don't they advertise that?
Because I feel like if people knew that AJ Brown
was playing like a nineteen year old kid from South Korea,
there would be people that would watch it wouldn't they.
I would probably want to do they advertise it and
I just don't get to see it because I'm not
watching those channels.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
Yeah, I'm not sure. They probably would make some money,
but they probably are just trying to.
Speaker 3 (21:09):
Relax a little bit.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
Then why do they stream it?
Speaker 2 (21:12):
They're not streaming. It's the person they're playing with, So.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
Why didn't they? Why don't they say turn it off? Kid? Seat?
I see what you're telling me. This was a random
kid's stream that somebody happened to be watching.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
Well, probably a lot of people were watching because AJ
was playing with But how did they know AJ was playing?
Speaker 1 (21:28):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (21:29):
Word gets around?
Speaker 1 (21:29):
Right?
Speaker 3 (21:30):
You just send a tweet out AJ's on the stream,
he's playing with us.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
Word gets around but didn't get to me?
Speaker 3 (21:35):
Are you on the TikTok I?
Speaker 1 (21:38):
Like how you said that the TikTok I am but
it didn't come into my feed? AJ's streaming here.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
Looks like he was playing with someone, Janki Rondo.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
Oh, I like Janki run. I don't follow him enough.
That's why we missed. This is Jankie Rondo famous?
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Uh, looks like he does some so he.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
Plays against famous people. Oh, Jankie Rondo. It sounds like
a nickname people had for people in Middlesbrough. Don't go,
don't get your car fixed, don't Yankey Rondo sales what.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
A world though you're just a guy playing a video game.
You bought a game.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
Stop.
Speaker 2 (22:12):
But on the other end, h you know, pro bowlers
leaking news.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
This goes all over the NFL. You never know when
you watch Jankie Rondo what he's going to do, what's next.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
Matthew Stafford is in his seventeenth season in the NFL.
He's won a Super Bowl and he's the favorite to
win the MVP right now at plus two sixty odds.
But the stat is that he just reached five hundred
for a winning percentage of his career after two hundred
and thirty one starts, he has now one hundred and fifteen,
one hundred and fifteen and one.
Speaker 1 (22:54):
That's amazing because didn't he start out his first year
He's like one in fifteen, right.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
That the Lions were bad?
Speaker 1 (22:58):
Yeah, well, I think his first year they were literally
maybe one in fifteen, So he probably had a big
hole speaking to guy. It doesn't his wife didn't she.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
Stream He was a podcaster what does she had?
Speaker 1 (23:08):
She does like a Christian thing, right.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
I'm not sure, but she's made news talking.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
It's something like she's like everybody drink milk or something
like that, isn't she.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
That's Jim Harbaugh. Okay, she had a beef with somebody,
was another player? Yeah, I don't know, a couple of
years ago she had a beef. Yeah, there was some
podcast beef.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
I'm so old. I remember when the picture of them
dating went viral when he was in college Georgia. Look
who Matthew Stafford dates this sorority? And now she's like
milk podcasting?
Speaker 2 (23:42):
Where are you getting the milk?
Speaker 3 (23:43):
So?
Speaker 1 (23:44):
Is it not milk?
Speaker 2 (23:47):
It's on Jackie Rondo's That's where we got to see it.
I love the staff though that you know, this long career,
got a Super Bowl ring, he's Hall of Famer.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
Yeah, just got to five hundred, has he he's Has
he ever won the MVP before?
Speaker 2 (24:02):
I don't think so.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
So. I mean there might be kind of a lifetime
achievement ord to this a little bit.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
And as his career winds down, I know they're good,
but he's got to be careful to get above five
hundred and stay there. You can't retire under a five hundred.
For Matthews, do you think.
Speaker 1 (24:16):
His career is winding down? I mean, these guys play.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
Forever now, right, He's got to be getting close to Fordy.
But then again, I'm Flacco and Rogers are still out there.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
Do you that trade between them and delroyit? Yeah, that's
one of the very few trades of high profile people
that kind of worked out for everybody, didn't it?
Speaker 2 (24:37):
Yeah? Both quarterbacks quarterbacks? Right, Well, Stafford was always good.
He was just on a bad Lions team. So he
finally got somewhere.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
He goes and wins the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
Yeah, but then Jared Goff and the Lion as soon
as he gets there, they're on the uptick and you know,
a contender this year. So it is one of the
rare where it worked out both ways.
Speaker 3 (24:53):
Kelly made news in twenty twenty four when she revealed
that she dated Matthew Stafford's backup quarterback at Georgia to
make him jealous.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
I knew she was this big story.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
I did not hear that. Oh yeah, I thought it
was just milk. So what what happened?
Speaker 3 (25:07):
She dated Matthew Stafford's backup quarterback was at the university
word to Joe Cox, who she publicly apologized to.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
Why does she apologize to Joe Cox?
Speaker 2 (25:16):
Well, she said, I don't want his identity to get out,
and then she said he was Matthew Stafford's back up
his senior year. It's like, well, we can figure that
out pretty easily.
Speaker 1 (25:23):
She said she didn't want the idea, so and then
she never said his name.
Speaker 2 (25:26):
She just kind of was given clues of who it
could be, but it was like, well, that has to
be the backup quarterback.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
So she apologized to Joe Cox. Yes, did she apologize
to Matthew Stafford? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (25:35):
I mean probably they got kids now figured it out
somewhere along the way, and so this cast the moment
I was thinking.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
Of, they can't. This came out on her milk podcast.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
I don't know about the milk.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
You're right, though. She had a beef with somebody. I
don't remember who it was, but she got into it
with like Drew Brees's aunt or something.
Speaker 2 (25:59):
I love a milk podcast.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
With Drew Brees's aunt. It was somebody, you see I
she Drew is right.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
She had a beef the morning after with Kelly Stafford.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
That's a very seductive name, isn't it.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
Yes, they're dropping storm after.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
Is that on the NFL network when you drink your milk? Okay, well,
would you vet? Would you vote for him for MVP?
Right now?
Speaker 2 (26:26):
I don't know where you're about to ask me, because
I was thinking the third podcast and milk anything. Drew Brees' aunt.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
MVP. She's a nice lady. Yeah, I know, clearly I don't.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
I don't want to let the Patriots fans win, but
if they don't start losing games, Drake May is gonna
be your MVP.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
No, or Taylor give it to the seventeenth year guy
instead of the same He's got plenty of time. I
don't disagree. What if the culture Patriots if he ends
up stinking and then you're like, remember that year we
gave it to Drake Bay.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
And we all laugh.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
I saw Jonathan Taylor about to hit the hit the
triple Crown of yards per carry touchdowns and told the
yards or not about to he's on pace two to
win all three of them, and that hasn't been done
in forever. Maybe I think maybe Terrell Davis or somebody
did it. So if he were to do that and
the cults still be good.
Speaker 1 (27:12):
That'd be hard. I'd like to see him win, just
because running backs don't ever win.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
I know, I always wanted Henry or the years Henry
were so spectacular, I wanted him to be in the conversation.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
Is it weird that every time I'm watching a game
they say Jonathan Taylor. I just want to say, Thomas
go back to Home Improvement. That's good.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
It's a good home I've been rewatching it lately.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
I mean, he was a like teen idol. He was.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
He said teen Bop, Tiger Beat, Tiger Beat and Team
Bop those were the two.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
Yeah, Pyle doesn't know about Tiger Beat. You don't know
that era.
Speaker 2 (27:46):
There was nothing more intimidating then you know the elementary
middle school dating scene.
Speaker 1 (27:51):
If you ever were lucky enough to.
Speaker 2 (27:52):
Even go in their home because you're young, should probably
shouldn't be doing that. You go in there and there's
just posters of JTT everywhere, and you see him, Like,
what am I supposed to do against that?
Speaker 1 (28:00):
It would interesting, be interesting to see a hall of
Fame of Tiger Beat, so first ballot, new Kids on
the Block and like in Sync and Backstreet Boys that
they would be first ball. I've got a deep cut
embarrass I'm gonna say it. Kurt Cameron, he's on there.
He was big. Let me, I'm gonna do uh Mark,
Paul Gossler and Mario Lopez and then JT. T is
(28:24):
on there for sure.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
I think he's like the face of that era.
Speaker 1 (28:28):
Of that era. But I think you go back to
New Kids on the Block, they were right there too. Okay,
so what who else would you add to the time.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
There's a guy who's in a bunch of movies that
he just disappeared. Is there Andrew Keegan? Something like he
has like pulled back hair. That's not I'm gonna I'm
gonna pull him Up're gonna know as soon as I
show it. He was in all the teen movies.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
I think you're making that.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
No, yep, that's his name. Got him right here on
the cover of Tiger Beat too. He's on the cover
of Tiger with JTT. No he's not by side, No
he's not. Look it says JTT and Andrew. Well, all right,
let's look Andrew Keegan.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
Yep. Oh yeah, he just fell off the grid. He
was in everything for a few years. He was in
ten things I Hate about you. Yeah. Also a movie
called he was in Some Bad Movies Teenage Caveman Returns.
Was that a sequel? I don't. He must have been,
because I don't think he was there to begin with.
(29:24):
I just want to see, because you know, the internet
has everything. Has anyone ever made a Tiger Beat Hall
of Fame? Okay? No, I mean because listen if that's
if that happened, I would be impressed. Tiger v. Not
We're going to do it. Oh, this is uh Detroit
Tigers Hall of Fame. What does Tiger Woods need to
(29:47):
do to go to the Hall of Fame?
Speaker 2 (29:48):
I'm on oprah dot com. It has forty five years
of Tiger Beat covers. It's the closest I can get.
Speaker 1 (29:57):
Well, oh, here's some old ones. There's uh oh these
are really old. Oh oh, here's a good one. Scott Bayo.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
Oh yeah, do you know Scott No, No, Charles.
Speaker 1 (30:08):
In charge of our days and our lives. We're straining
a little bit from football on this week's episode, Just
a little bit. What's next Tiger beating over.
Speaker 3 (30:21):
A name that you guys already mentioned. Drew Brees is
joining Fox Sports's NFL cover, which he will be debuting
in the Green Bay Packers New York Giants game on Sunday.
Through for over eighty thousand yards and five hundred and
seventy one touchdowns over twenty seasons, and will now join
Tom Brady and Greg Olsen on the network.
Speaker 1 (30:38):
He's an example of why you can't just completely dismiss
an announcer when they start, because you remember his first
game was just atrocious. He kind of looked at the
camera and was like, I like football, throwball downfield, and
now I actually think he's a pretty good announcer. So
(30:59):
he's replacing I guess Mark saying Jay, and I think
he'll be good. I like that higher. He's also going
to become the firstnouncer for Fox to ever be allowed
to call for another network, because he was already scheduled
to do Netflix this Christmas take game.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
Yeah, the Christmas game. Yeah, I like hearing it. And
Brady also had a rough start.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
That's still I'm not a huge I'm he's better. He's better.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
But every once in a while when they lock into
that brain that only a few of them have and
they tell you something you don't know or what to
look for, not so much the Romo calling plays, but
when they get in depth, those guys that truly know
it and you grew up watching it is different. And
I like him out there. And Brady's still pretty rough,
but Breeze has improved.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
Who would you say, give me your MVP of NFL
color announcers today? Who's the top of the chart, who's
the best?
Speaker 2 (31:48):
I'm still upset Greg Olsen got passed?
Speaker 1 (31:50):
Greg? All right, so let's do our top four. For me?
It would be Greg Olsen one. I'm gonna still go,
Chris collins Worth. Two, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go
three arising J J. Watt Oh, Okay, is that because
(32:14):
he's with your body. I think he does a good job.
I really do. And then I'll go four. Aiightman Not
even so much because I think he's good. I just
think he signals like it's a big game because Troy
Aikman's on it. So uh, That's how I'm doing. What's yours?
Speaker 2 (32:31):
I don't know if I can do Collinsworth. I might
put even though you.
Speaker 1 (32:34):
Wouldn' put him anywhere in the top four.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
I just I have collins Worth exhaustion.
Speaker 1 (32:38):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (32:38):
It could be from you on all the time, the
signal you don't want me to do? No, no, you
keep doing it, But I just think the real call
Collinsworth is suffering because of it.
Speaker 1 (32:48):
Okay, doesn't me doing Okay.
Speaker 2 (32:51):
Give me your five again? I putt I go one
hold on. Let me let me collins Worth. What I'm
gonna put Romo in there instead of Collinsworth, even though
I do get annoyed when he tries too hard to
call out the place. I enjoy listening Romo and I
like watching the Cowboys when he gets a Cowboys game,
that's fun. This guy's new and just getting started. But
(33:12):
I always love mccordy on NFL Network in the talk show,
and now he's starting to get a chance.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
He's not in my top five, but I'm really rooting
for him. Is Charles Davis still doing it?
Speaker 2 (33:23):
Charls Davis, he's pretty good.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
I like him. I didn't. I wasn't familiar with Vilma
until he interviewed Trump. He's a beautiful pay. It's a
big pay.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
Did you say Romo might have been fifth?
Speaker 1 (33:39):
For me? Romo I got. I had some Romo exhaustion,
like we get it, man. You know the plays, but
I think they told I do like how excited he
gets about it though, like he does, he does get
excited about the games, and I like that for announcers.
Charles Davis actually probably would be fifth for me. He's
probably the He's interesting because he wasn't that good a player,
(34:01):
and yet he keeps rising up the charts, which I
think is good.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
Is uh is Darryl Johnston still out there?
Speaker 1 (34:07):
Is he still doing it? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (34:08):
I think he still thinks.
Speaker 1 (34:09):
So the problem is we still get to hear a
lot of these announcers because I'm watching red Zone. So
if you do a one o'clock game, I may not
hear you never call a game.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
Well, I watch at one o'clock my Titans, and they
ain't getting the A team to B team.
Speaker 1 (34:24):
You get a lot of what Actually, I've had some
lot of Adam Aman, I've had.
Speaker 2 (34:28):
We've gotten some Iron Eagle JJ Watt a few times
this year. So that's been a nice treat.
Speaker 1 (34:33):
Okay, I can't believe we can see Iron Egle.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
That just adds to an already fun trip.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
I'm gonna do something. It's gonna be our first attempt
to this. Can we call Iron Eagle live on the air?
Hang on this mell what hey, Bud, Can I call
you back in two minutes. I'm just getting in an elevator. Yes,
call me back in two minutes. All right, Oh, we're in.
(34:59):
That's all you get to hear. I just wanted you
to know that I knew Iron Egle. So when he
calls me back to tease, we won't. We won't. We
won't talk about just about you, just we will know
that's the name we actually dropped.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
How about you don't talk to him until we get
to Buffalo. Don't call him back. If he calls back,
don't answer.
Speaker 1 (35:19):
He's done that to me before. By the way, though,
can I get you No, I'll call it. He'll go
CALLI right back, and then I hear from him six
months later, and you're like, hey, you said you're getting elevator.
Speaker 2 (35:27):
Blayddeen.
Speaker 1 (35:28):
Let's keep going until I and calls and then we'll
take a break.
Speaker 3 (35:31):
Go ahead, okay. The Texans announced that C. J. Stroud
will not play this Sunday against the Titans. That means
we get more Davis Mills.
Speaker 1 (35:39):
Is he hurt or is Davis Mills won the job
as one of the best quarterbacks if the second best
College of By the way, we forgot Jim Plunkett as
a Stanford quarterback, maybe a little better than Davis Mills.
Speaker 2 (35:51):
To wait till he plays the Titans on Sunday. So
is Stroud hurt or concussion? He's concussed? I mean Davis
Mills did well, didn't he?
Speaker 1 (36:01):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (36:01):
I mean he made our Stanford us the best quarterbacks ever?
Speaker 1 (36:08):
Who are they playing the Tights.
Speaker 2 (36:10):
That's why I'm saying Davis Mills is about to have
another big game.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
I think they're gonna win. Yeah, right, this could.
Speaker 3 (36:15):
Be the start six point favorite big season for Davis Mills.
Speaker 2 (36:18):
Tidan's coming off the bow week film. Look out you
doing all kinds of stuff.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
Okay, we're back from the Iron Eagle call. I'm gonna
try to see him in Buffalo. Maybe we can do
a little quick thirty second interview with Iron with with
cover zero. Wouldn't that be exciting?
Speaker 2 (36:49):
Absolutely, we'll be in the press box. I'm sure he's
going to be somewhere in there. We'll just walk around
till we see him. It's right, we'll go exploring.
Speaker 1 (36:56):
I don't think I've ever had press credentials for an
NFL game before ever. Yeah, so I don't know what
it's gonna be like. You might get a free lunch,
maybe free coffee. I judged teams by what they give
you at the game. U of L the other night
played Kentucky. The Louisville food a lot better than Kentucky's food.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
I talked to a lot of people that come to
Kentucky from other schools, and they're like, how do you
hold through this year?
Speaker 1 (37:24):
It's bad? But Buffalo I'm feeling like wings, bananas, like
everything you would want.
Speaker 2 (37:32):
Wings and bananas. Are we gonna get Maybe they'll have
media room wings, but are we going to get the
local buffalos?
Speaker 1 (37:40):
You and I have eaten that once.
Speaker 2 (37:42):
A Mario over here likes chicken wings, so we'll have
to get them back.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
I mean, there's a place where they originally go, but
people tell you not to go to that. They say
that there are better places. We went to Buffalo. It
was really depressing. I'm hoping to have a better Remember
we went city was shut down, nothing was going on. Yeah,
so I'm hoping we have a better impression this time.
Speaker 2 (38:01):
We got there kind of late, it was dark. We
went and got Buffalo wings and that was kind of
the extent of the I.
Speaker 1 (38:07):
Thought, I found a place for us to stay, and
it said church slash basketball court slash Airbnb. I felt
like that was a good commination.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
You're just gonna run us a community center. Big money
over there. You call him tell me work for the NFL.
Speaker 1 (38:24):
Well, so I wrote them it was a little expensive,
and I was like, if okay, so if you could
bring it down, well, it was two dollars for two nights.
I was like, if you could bring it down to
like fifteen hundred, I'd before it. And she said, we're
focused on monthly rentals. So here's my question, who's written
that for a month? What are you doing with it?
Speaker 2 (38:46):
Playing basketball? Maybe maybe they get a Bills player coming
through temporarily to finish out the air and.
Speaker 1 (38:54):
Do it and make them make them accept me, just
to see what it's like. All right, what's next?
Speaker 3 (38:59):
The NFL has their final international game of the season
this Sunday in Madrid, Spain, and they got a good one.
Commander's dull. Since Daddy Yankee is going to perform at house,
I'm Daddy Yankee.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
Who's that first? Well, I'm not Daddy any with Daddy Yankee.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
I believe he's a rapper, but mainly of a different
dialect than English.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
What dialect is he?
Speaker 2 (39:21):
I believe it's Spanish.
Speaker 1 (39:22):
So why would a Spanish rapper call himself Daddy Yankee?
Yankee is an American?
Speaker 2 (39:27):
Yeah, I mean you know you'd have to ask him.
Speaker 1 (39:29):
All right, Well, let's look it up.
Speaker 2 (39:31):
And a couple other storylines from that game.
Speaker 3 (39:32):
It's a battle of Hawaiian quarterbacks with Marcus Mariota and
to tagle Violin.
Speaker 1 (39:36):
Well that's kind of cool.
Speaker 3 (39:38):
Washington has allowed eighty two points in the last two games,
so Dan Quinn says he's taking overplay calling dut he's
on defense.
Speaker 1 (39:43):
Daddy Yankee, by the way, is Puerto Rican. He's dubbed
the King of Reggaeton is how you say it?
Speaker 2 (39:52):
Well, that sounds about right.
Speaker 1 (39:54):
He is, Uh, he's older than I am. He's forty nine.
He also goes by the Big Boss in Winchester.
Speaker 2 (40:02):
I've heard Daddy Yankee. I'm familiar. I'll drive around listening
to a lot of it. But I the name him
like he has been. He's a feature and a lot
of stuff I hear. What do you know the name
of his biggest song of all time? Couldn't tell you.
Oh wait, does he sing? He doesn't sing Gasolina?
Speaker 1 (40:16):
Does he? That's what it is? Told you.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
I know Daddy Yankee. He was big time for a while.
He's getting a little old.
Speaker 1 (40:23):
How did you know Gasolina? I'm telling you it was
a big deal. I know, I'm familiar.
Speaker 2 (40:28):
With with Daddy Daddy Yankee. It's just he's getting old.
Bad Bunny pushed him out of the way and took over.
Speaker 1 (40:34):
Wow. He was cited by seeing it as the most
influential Hispanic artist of the early two thousands. It's a
very specific award, but that's a big award.
Speaker 2 (40:44):
I would think you would know Gasolina if you heard it.
I don't know where the music rights we have.
Speaker 1 (40:49):
Do we have the music rights for Gasoline?
Speaker 2 (40:50):
Eleenelena?
Speaker 1 (40:54):
See?
Speaker 2 (40:55):
We all know Daddy Yankee?
Speaker 1 (40:57):
Wow? Was he in? He was also in uh a
movie called Gasolina. Well there you go. Who knew? Well,
so he's performing and what else is happening? The Hawaiian quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (41:14):
Hawaiian quarterbacks Dan Quinn's taking over play calling on defense
and then the NFL is adding games in Australia and
Brazil next year.
Speaker 1 (41:22):
Well, they played in Brazil last couple of years. Australia.
That's far away man, like you're.
Speaker 2 (41:27):
A is is McDaniel going to drop by the Commander's
bar in Spain? If they win do the little lap
is victory lap?
Speaker 1 (41:35):
That Yeah, I did a victory lap. You should do
a victory lap. He's staying for the rest of the year.
I thought you talk about I had him fired every
week we did. We just well, next show who will
be the new coach?
Speaker 2 (41:44):
And he goes and beats the bills by a million?
Speaker 1 (41:47):
Yeah? You like ways in Madrid? Yes, yep, So just
to the record couple teams. If I ever disappear and
I go off the grid, that's where you're going. I
will be in Spain. Spain is my favorite. Spain's my
favorite country to potentially like live it. Why just the
whole vibe. Take naps in the afternoon, so i'me in. Yeah,
(42:11):
I mean dinner starts at like eight thirty. You stay
up late, sleep late, works like nah, you know, get
around to it. Tapas see, I like tapas because you
go to a restaurant and you order like nine things.
Speaker 2 (42:26):
I love Atapas restaurant and.
Speaker 1 (42:27):
They're just they're small, but like you don't have you know,
You don't have to sit there and go, oh do
I get the chicken or the fish? You just get
it all.
Speaker 2 (42:32):
Sometimes, you know, have three or four things, You get
three or four people.
Speaker 1 (42:35):
To go with you. Y'all have singria, and then it's like, uh,
you know, and then the the soccer is is fun
there and they you know, Spanish. I can speak a
little enough Spanish to know what's going on, and I'm
not fluent, but I can, so I just feel like
I would enjoy it.
Speaker 2 (42:53):
Could you give us a little of that now?
Speaker 1 (42:56):
I mean gasoline.
Speaker 2 (42:59):
I got kicked out of the Foreign Language Festival Atmurray State.
I was in there in the Spanish competition, and I
left campus to get pizza. And when I came back,
they said, we told you not to leave campus. You
are disqualified. That was the end of my Spanish speaking.
Was this like last week was in high school? I
was in Spanish too. We traveled to go show off
our Spanish. I got a pizza craving, We got pizza,
came back and they said, no, sir, we know you
(43:19):
went over there.
Speaker 1 (43:20):
Why can't you have more authentic place to show off
you're Spanish than Murray, Kentucky.
Speaker 2 (43:25):
It's the Spanish language festival.
Speaker 1 (43:27):
We were trying to broaden our horizons in West n
If I can do it, I can like listen to
it and kind of get it. I'm actually not the
best at speaking. I know. It's it seems weird you
do both, but like I have to sit there and
think about grammer because I don't want, you know, and
I don't do.
Speaker 4 (43:44):
That masculine or feminine thing. Yeah, yo, lo tango, biblioteca library.
It's amazing that that's a word we all know. I
couldn't tell you library and another language. But all right,
that's nice. I hope they have a good time. What's next?
Speaker 2 (44:01):
Big matchup?
Speaker 3 (44:01):
At four o'clock in the NFC West, the forty nine
ers will travel to take on the Arizona.
Speaker 1 (44:05):
Cardinal for the fourteenth time this year.
Speaker 3 (44:08):
Arizona's three and six this year, and they'll have to
play without Marvin Harrison Junior this week. He's missing his
first game of his career after emergency appendicitis surgery.
Speaker 1 (44:17):
I saw that, you know, appendicitis, that's when your appendix
is it? When it bursts?
Speaker 3 (44:23):
I think, yes, I believe, so, so what what does
your appendix do? I don't know, but people get it
removed a lot, I know, and it's often like it's
a serious thing, right, Yeah, you can get really sick
when it bursts.
Speaker 1 (44:38):
So why don't we do it like wisdom teeth and
just have everybody take it out? Does it some serve
some purpose?
Speaker 3 (44:44):
I'm not sure.
Speaker 2 (44:45):
So you're saying, like, everyone turns fifteen, let's just go
get our appendixes removed.
Speaker 1 (44:49):
Well, I just feel like it's it feels like the
cost benefit ratio is I mean, Marvin Harrison is one
of the best athletes in football maybe in like so
if he gets it and it's an emergency surgery.
Speaker 2 (45:02):
And all the football he's played, never missed a.
Speaker 1 (45:04):
Game, never high school, college, and then this, So there's
part of you that goes, well, why do we have it?
Speaker 2 (45:11):
It's on the lower right side of the abdomen.
Speaker 1 (45:13):
I know that much.
Speaker 3 (45:14):
You do not need it to survive, so that's why
you see it commonly.
Speaker 1 (45:17):
But why do you got health?
Speaker 2 (45:19):
It's a critical role in digestion overall health.
Speaker 1 (45:23):
It can't be that critical if you can take it out, yeah,
I mean, it's being real. If you can take it out,
then how critical can it be? Yeah, it's there.
Speaker 3 (45:33):
But like if the government or the body were to
shut down, you know they would, it wouldn't be like
a critical employee, you know.
Speaker 1 (45:38):
Government, what you're saying, Yeah, I cut you off too early.
It's not a critical employee. Yeah, but it would be
nice to have it sort of like the park right. Yeah,
they're not critical, but it's good to have them.
Speaker 2 (45:52):
Gut health, you'd appreciate a park ranger.
Speaker 1 (45:55):
That's a phrase, by the way, that we also never
used to say, gut health. Yeah, you remember hearing that.
Until like three years ago, people be like, how's your
gut health?
Speaker 2 (46:04):
No, no, no, dude, all right, I guess feeling pretty normal.
Speaker 1 (46:08):
I mean, yeah, well, I hope he gets better. Arizona's
like what, they're three and six, three and six, Yeah,
so it's not gonna really matter, but hopefully he gets healthy.
He's a really talented guy. Wish he wasn't playing for
you know, Larry Fitzgerald played for Arizona forever. I felt
like I saw him make two catches ever and he's
one of the best of all time just because no
one the games.
Speaker 2 (46:29):
Yeah you mean you didn't mean he was only getting
making two catches? Not significant?
Speaker 1 (46:35):
What NFL team have you seen, you think, collectively the
fewest minutes of their games in history?
Speaker 2 (46:43):
Probably the Chargers.
Speaker 1 (46:46):
The Cardinals at least made a Super Charge Cardinals. Though
the Chiefs and Chargers are always on TV, the Chargers
made a Super Bowl. When I was a kid in
the eighties, Dan Fouts, they would show those a lot.
I think it's the Cardinals. I mean, they had that
one year with Kurt Warner m But when when's the
(47:07):
last time you've cared about a Cardinals game?
Speaker 2 (47:13):
Well, that is the only win my Titans have this
year when they were tripping over the football in the
fourth quarter.
Speaker 3 (47:17):
But before that none our video game. Mario had a
great Larry Fitzgerald moment. Do you remember that?
Speaker 1 (47:24):
Yes, he asked you that was true. We went to
a party and Mario, who's twenty five twenty six, went
up to Larry Fitzgerald and asked for a picture. And
Larry Fitzgerald thought he meant he wanted a picture, and
he instead wanted Larry Fitzgerald to take a picture of us.
Speaker 2 (47:43):
He's like, I'll just get this guy and take a
photo and produce.
Speaker 1 (47:46):
Larry Fitzgerald was so he asked Larry Fitzgerald. If Larry
Fitzgerald would take a picture of us not be in
and not be.
Speaker 2 (47:54):
In it nice Gatto took a good picture.
Speaker 1 (47:57):
He didn't take he took it, didn't he? I think
he did?
Speaker 3 (48:00):
What a nice guy?
Speaker 1 (48:02):
Can you imagine that?
Speaker 3 (48:03):
By the way, It's like a prank thing somebody would do.
Speaker 1 (48:06):
Yeah, I mean, I know Larry Fitzgerald, but they did
that to me. He got the U L game. The
other night, I was talking with the Craig Greenberger mayor
Louis who was my friend. Guy walks up to him
and goes, guy, I get you a picture and he
hands it or can I get a picture? And he
hands it to me and then takes once Craig, It's like,
come on, man, it's good. So the same thing with that.
(48:40):
What's next?
Speaker 3 (48:42):
The Eagles just traded for JayR Alexander to bolster their
secondary right before the trade deadline. He just decided this
week to step away from football to get right physically
and mentally.
Speaker 1 (48:52):
Yeah. I was sorry to hear that. I mean, they
just made a trade. Would they give like a six
or seven round pick for him?
Speaker 2 (48:57):
It was a late round pick swap, so it was a.
Speaker 1 (48:59):
Late round said not much. Yeah, well, I hope he's sorry.
That kid played at Louisville. Seemed like he was good
for a long time. So well, I hope whatever it is,
it makes it better. You know what, if something's happening
where you don't feel like you can be at your best,
good to step away and go take care of it.
Speaker 2 (49:15):
So yeah, long Tom Packer was with the Ravens just
for a little bit and now this so he's battling something.
Speaker 1 (49:20):
And talking about guy he's gotten on three good Yeah,
I mean he talked about getting three good at organizations.
But he's only with the Eagles.
Speaker 2 (49:26):
For a week and then he was out and Ravens
was just the beginning of this year. So I hope
he gets better. He's still still young ish for his position.
Speaker 1 (49:34):
Got a little more football in him, says right, they
played with Lamar played or was it maybe a little
bit for.
Speaker 2 (49:38):
I don't know exactly what games, but uh, he was
with them for a stint a cup of coffee, as
they say.
Speaker 1 (49:44):
That's right, what's next?
Speaker 3 (49:45):
And finally we started with the Giants, will end with
the Giants after firing their head coach and with Jackson
Dart still in concussion protocol. Jamis Winston will be making
the start this week.
Speaker 1 (49:55):
That's exciting, can't wait. Jameis Winston. He's talking about guy.
He's got have a good television career. Although I don't
know what you can put him on because he could
say anything.
Speaker 2 (50:06):
Whatever it is, I'll watch.
Speaker 1 (50:07):
He is very entertaining and the video of him at
the press conference.
Speaker 2 (50:11):
Was excellent singing Hamilton.
Speaker 1 (50:13):
He sang he was singing Hamilton, that's right, and he
was like tenth anniversary. Uh is Russell Wilson like, is
he okay?
Speaker 2 (50:21):
He says he's not retiring. He just thinks.
Speaker 1 (50:23):
I guess boy, nobody has had a more precipitous fall
in all parts of life than Russell Willson.
Speaker 2 (50:30):
He said he hasn't asked for a release. He wants
to stick around and do what back up James Winston.
Speaker 1 (50:35):
I guess let's ride. Is this one of those you
just like you do like an office space and you
give him a smaller and smaller locker, making him fly
Charter Spirit.
Speaker 2 (50:47):
Put the practice squad guy between him and Jamis, make
him third yeah, where.
Speaker 1 (50:52):
He's Russell Eving gonna be the backup? Yeah? Thank you?
So what if they bring in in Bailey's Appy. I
feel like every time Bailey's Appy gets brought in, you
know it's over.
Speaker 2 (51:02):
That's a Western Yeah, that's.
Speaker 3 (51:05):
Like Naords right now, by the way, so keep your
name out of did you cover him?
Speaker 1 (51:12):
Master? But I do feel like anytime something's gone really bad,
Bailey Zappy is involved, Like when he came in and
Sdor Sanders got demot the practice squad for Bailey Zappy.
I think I think Bailey Zappy was like who got
brought in to kind of end Mac Jones's time in
New England. They're like, oh, here comes Bailey Zappy. True.
(51:35):
So I think that's always a signal when you see
Bailey Zappy things are not going well.
Speaker 2 (51:39):
Do you think you have like a cave at his house?
He's just sitting in there with pads all around him,
just waiting for that signal to go off. Somewhere in
the league.
Speaker 1 (51:45):
I do wonder if those guys that are known but
not on a team, like Flacco, just watch and flip
from channel to channel hoping somebody gets hurt.
Speaker 2 (51:55):
Studying every offense receivers where you want to go.
Speaker 1 (51:58):
Somebody goes down and they're like, come on, please, I'm
not sure if Zapy does that, he probably wouldn't a
Western man like, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (52:08):
I mean, backup's a good job. I mean, you hold
a clipboard. You make millions of dollars.
Speaker 2 (52:12):
He was my homes back out.
Speaker 1 (52:14):
Yeah, I don't think you make millions. I mean some
of them do, but I don't think. I don't think
let's go take I don't think Bailey Zappi is getting
milled practice.
Speaker 3 (52:22):
Squad would be a good job in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (52:25):
Yeah, you don't do anything.
Speaker 3 (52:27):
And you still make six figures.
Speaker 2 (52:28):
Oh, Bailey Zappi's on a one year, one point one
million dollar Oh, no way millionaire.
Speaker 1 (52:34):
Bailey' zappy makes one point one million dollars.
Speaker 2 (52:37):
According to the Internet.
Speaker 1 (52:38):
Wow, what a good life. I should have been better
at quarterback. Yeah, Jeff Tigue, which has nothing to do
with Bailey Zappy, But I was listening to Jeff Teigue
this morning and he had a great thing about guys
making money. And he was like, when I was young,
nobody told me you could make money with money. He
was like, when I made five million dollars, I was like, well,
(53:00):
if I live fifty years, I could have one hundred
thousand dollars a year and somebody was like, you could
put it in a saving an account and it makes interest,
and he just said he said. I looked at that
guy and went you crazy. I thought was one of
the great clips. You need to look it up. Jeff
(53:21):
t talking about interest is a really good clip.
Speaker 2 (53:24):
Maybe he could lead a financial literacy class for the NBA.
Speaker 1 (53:27):
I think they should teach that for a lot of
a lot of guys. All right, so you to look
up Billy the playoff situation? Yeah, do you have that
for it? I do. So if the playoffs started today,
what would it look like?
Speaker 3 (53:39):
Do you want the NFC or the AFC. First, Let's
start with the AFC AFC. The Colts would be receiving
a bye. The two seed Broncos would take on the
seven seed Jaguars.
Speaker 1 (53:48):
The Pats Broncos Jaguars. That would be the Saturday noon game.
You know how they have three games each day. I
can guarantee you Saturday noon that's when they played Broncos Jaguars. Yeah,
I would agree without question. What's the next one.
Speaker 3 (54:05):
Would be three seed Patriots versus the six seed Bills.
That would be a nice AFC's there, and then you
have the four seed Pittsburgh Steelers versus the five seed
la S Chargers.
Speaker 1 (54:17):
Were you figuring that out in a real time what
LAC stood for? No?
Speaker 2 (54:20):
I was just adding that for flair. So right now
the Chiefs would not be in a good flair correct?
And the Chiefs played the Broncos this week?
Speaker 1 (54:28):
Big game for the Chiefs game, Big game for the Chiefs.
That would be crazy because I still think they're the
best team and if they're not even in the playoffs,
that would be nuts. Are the NFC?
Speaker 3 (54:38):
NFC, the Eagles would receive a buye as the one seed.
It would be the two seed Seattle Seahawks versus the
seven seed Green Bay Packers. Okay, it would be the
three seed Detroit Lions versus the six seed Chicago Bears.
Speaker 1 (54:50):
Three seed Detroit liell That would be fun. Would That
would be exciting? A good rivalry game in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (54:56):
And then the four to five would be Bucks Rams.
Speaker 1 (55:00):
That would be the other contender to be at one
at noon on Saturday. That would be the noon on
Sunday game.
Speaker 2 (55:05):
The Seahawks are both seven to two and play this week,
so that will go one way or another.
Speaker 1 (55:11):
That will change. Well, let's make some picks. All right, Billy,
you have won the survivorly, that's right, but I want
to see how long you can keep going, all right,
because Drew and I are out. So what are the
teams you've picked so far? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (55:25):
I don't have that in front of me.
Speaker 3 (55:27):
Let me get that and then I'll be able to
make my pick here.
Speaker 1 (55:30):
What do you mean you don't have it in front
of you.
Speaker 3 (55:32):
I don't have my uh home, No, I got it here.
I'm just highly unorganized like you the other day. Should
be behind your debty Yankee notes. Okay, here it is,
I got it, I got it.
Speaker 1 (55:43):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (55:44):
So I have Jags, Cards, Bills, Colts, Chiefs, Patriots, and
then the one that I did last week, which was Seattle.
And then I also have yeah, Seattle.
Speaker 1 (55:54):
So who do you like here?
Speaker 2 (55:57):
You know it's tough.
Speaker 1 (55:58):
I mean, the biggest favorite Patriots, but you can't pick them.
Speaker 2 (56:01):
No, can't pick the Patriots here.
Speaker 3 (56:03):
I'm almost inclined to take the Texans over the Titans.
Speaker 1 (56:07):
When else you can pick the Texans. It's just Davis.
It's only five and a half points.
Speaker 3 (56:10):
Davis Mills though, and he's kind of become our like
podcast icon here.
Speaker 1 (56:16):
So yeah, I mean I get that. I think I
would probably if I were you. So if I was
still in the game, I would probably take Packers over Giants.
No offense to Jamis.
Speaker 3 (56:28):
I took the Packers already.
Speaker 1 (56:30):
Okay, see I don't think I.
Speaker 2 (56:31):
Oh, I'm sorry, No, I haven't.
Speaker 1 (56:32):
Well, do you want to switch?
Speaker 2 (56:33):
No?
Speaker 1 (56:34):
All right, you're gonna take them? No, I do not.
Speaker 2 (56:37):
No, I'll stick with the Texans.
Speaker 1 (56:38):
Actually, I don't think I've picked the Patriots yet either,
so I could have picked them. All right, So let's
do our touchdown game. I think I go first this week.
And let's see. I'm going to take Stefan Diggs tonight. Oh,
(56:58):
he's been good for me on Thursday Night football. I'm
gonna take Stefan Diggs. I've not picked him as my
wide receiver. Drew your next. He's hearing a quarterback, a
running back.
Speaker 2 (57:09):
I've been betting on him, he's been hitting.
Speaker 1 (57:11):
I will take.
Speaker 2 (57:12):
I'm gonna go running back.
Speaker 1 (57:15):
Try. Have I used any running backs?
Speaker 2 (57:16):
Do you have my list? I don't know who I've used?
Have used saque? I know I don't have the list.
I know I'll get a I'll get one that's off
the Grid that I haven't used. I'll say Josh Jacobs
against the Giants. I know I haven't used him. That
should be a blowout.
Speaker 1 (57:31):
Josh Jacobs. All right, So Stefan Diggs, Josh Jacobs, Billy.
That means you got to pick a quarterback? Yeah, who
have you picked?
Speaker 2 (57:38):
Jackson Dart?
Speaker 1 (57:39):
All right? That's it? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (57:40):
I believe?
Speaker 1 (57:41):
So okay, So what quarterback do you want?
Speaker 3 (57:43):
I'm sticking with the Giants. I'm going Jamis Winston. Give
me a brushing touchdown for the famous James.
Speaker 1 (57:49):
You got, Jalen Hurts, you got my homes, you got Lamar.
You're gonna take. You're gonna take Jamis Winston. I like it. Bill.
Speaker 2 (57:56):
The last time you did this was Jackson Dart and
all he does is rush touchdowns.
Speaker 1 (57:59):
So you're up four to three one, you are, I'm
up four to three one, and you think the way
to catch up is to pick Jameis Winston. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (58:05):
I mean anybody could pick Josh Allen and Jail and her.
Speaker 1 (58:08):
But you haven't yet.
Speaker 3 (58:09):
You could do it. Yeah, maybe a fun Maybe I
will later. Who bets on the favorite? How many and
how often you.
Speaker 2 (58:15):
Get Jamis starting?
Speaker 3 (58:16):
I mean you maybe the rest of the year, the
one guy I was too afraid to go up to
and ask for a picture.
Speaker 1 (58:23):
Oh you were scared?
Speaker 3 (58:24):
Yeah, you thought he was gonna get angry at you. No,
he'd be the one guy that'd be nice enough to
do it. But as a big Tampa fan.
Speaker 1 (58:30):
And just what are you gonna do when we get
in that locker room.
Speaker 3 (58:34):
I'll be fine, I'll vi I'll be fine. You're toss
it around the NFL and talking to Baker.
Speaker 1 (58:41):
And Billy Billy Billy reutlive NFL.
Speaker 2 (58:44):
Billy are sports. That's probably what he'd know me by NFL.
Speaker 1 (58:48):
Do you think you wouldn't know you? But I don't
know how.
Speaker 3 (58:50):
They do it, Like do they still open the locker
room or is it like I think like them all?
Speaker 1 (58:56):
Yeah, I don't know. I mean, like it's the whole
thing is gonna be interesting because we're not going to
fit in with these people. Yeah, I mean with the
rest of media, we're not going to fit in. We're
gonna be trying to break into Iron Eagle and JJ
watts booth.
Speaker 2 (59:09):
I'm gonna have pieces of a table in my back
when I'm checking into the press box.
Speaker 3 (59:13):
Yeah, probably can't wear Tom Brady Jersey into them.
Speaker 1 (59:16):
A couple of rules here for you two. You cannot
wear I mean, you can wear whatever you want, but
you can't wear team gear. So you can't wear Bills
gear in the press box. Now, you could wear it
if you want to wear it. When you're out in
the parking lot, you can't. But you can't wear it
in the press box. I don't even know if you
have Bills gear, which means you can't wear Tampa gear. Okay.
(59:37):
I don't want you all to embarrass me. I've traveled
enough with Drew. I know he won't embarrass me. Mario,
you can't ask people for pictures selfie, I'm serious. Don't
run out there to Josh All Baker Mayfield go what up, bro,
big fan? Can we get a selfie? You can't do that,
all right?
Speaker 3 (59:57):
Or or asked Baker to take a picture of you.
Speaker 1 (01:00:01):
You can do that.
Speaker 2 (01:00:02):
Oh you can't do that, Billy.
Speaker 1 (01:00:04):
The bucks of your team. Please when we walk in,
don't cry.
Speaker 2 (01:00:09):
I can handle that, all right.
Speaker 1 (01:00:12):
Are you gonna ask a question? Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:00:13):
Yeah, no, leave aside the player thing. That's easybody can
do that. But in the media setting with the coach
Todd at the podium. You got a Todd question, Todd,
I'll think on I can think of one.
Speaker 1 (01:00:24):
Yeah, be thinking of one for you to ask. I
asked a question at the Ryder Cup. For that reason.
I was like, I want to say that I asked
a question at the Ryder Cup. So I asked Lee
Westwood a question. I said, what he thought of Kentucky? Yeah,
and he was like, Mike, it's brut.
Speaker 2 (01:00:42):
You could say, you have to introduce yourself. Billy roliche
KSR pre show in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (01:00:48):
Billy Rudlige NFL NFL Billy Relige personal assistant Roger Good
you can you can do.
Speaker 2 (01:00:55):
That one, because it sounds like you've already been introducing.
Speaker 1 (01:00:57):
Yourself like that for a few weeks now. So you
got that one done. Well. We will see everyone in
Buffalo Sunday night. The podcast will be from Buffalo, allegedly
at a bar. If Billy can find one, we'll figure
it out. Otherwise it might be from our house in Erie, Pennsylvania.
But thank you all very much for listening. We'll see
