Speaker 1 (00:00):
This podcast of the Leech Report is presented by Boone's
Butcher Shop in Barnstown at one hundred old Bloomfield Pike,
family owned and operated since nineteen forty six with fresh
meat cut on site daily. Boons Butcher Shop. Good day,
and welcome in to the Leech Report, presented by Bobcat Enterprises.

(00:21):
As we look at more rain, fortunately it's not going
to be a huge deal today. A little more round
of rain coming in later in the afternoon, and then
we'll get back to some sunshine. Hopefully it's going to
be nice down at the Masters. It tees off today
in Augusta, Georgia, and a check the weather done there

(00:41):
a couple of days ago. Looked like Friday was the
only day that they were expecting to have any weather
issues at Masters our show today. We will lead off
with Stephen Thompson who covers the pitt Panthers for the
Pittsburgh Post Gazette, and he'll give us a little scouting
report on Jalen Low, the new point guard through the
transfer port for Mark Pope in company the goose Jack Gibbons,

(01:04):
and then Justin Rowland from Katz Illustrated. That's the guest lineup.
Wildcat News of the Day, presented by Giuseppes of Lexington.
The assumption is that Mark Pope wants to add at
least one more player and that it would be another shooter.
And there are reports that Sam Houston's Lamar Wilkins is
planning a visit to UK, also slated to visit Auburn, Indiana,

(01:28):
and Ole, miss According to reports, he averaged twenty one
points a game last season at sam Houston and shot
forty four percent at the three point line. I think
the record for most threes by an opposing player in
Rupp Arena maybe a guy from sam Houston State. It
was for a while, Corey Almond was his name, and

(01:53):
I think it was in the twenty ten season. And
I'm going to look this up here and see if
I've still got it in my game prep notes the
most threes by an opposing player eleven by Corey Allman
Sam Houston State in November of two thousand and nine.
So maybe he could shoot for that record if he

(02:15):
ends up playing for the Wildcats. Impressive numbers, especially the
forty four at three. So you know, we've seen so
many names pop up. It's just the way it is
in the portal. There's a lot of reporting and a
lot of you know, there's some staffs that play it
closer to the vest I think Poping Company is one

(02:37):
of those. Others talk a little more to the media
and so you know, Jayden Quaintons, I don't think anybody
saw that one coming until right at the very end.
So just another name to put on your radar screen
if you're part of BBN. Football practice wrapped up yesterday

(02:57):
with a news conference for offensive coordator Hampden and some
guys on that side of the ball. Saturday, of course,
is the open practice for the fans to come out
to Kroger Field and see the wrap up to spring practice.
But yesterday coach Hampden talked to reporters on a variety
of subjects. He was asked about Zach Calzada, the quarterback transfer.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
He said he's more athletic.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Than fans might be expecting. Big arm accuracy is the key,
said Kalzada likes to make big plays. The whole group
at running back, Hampdon likes what he is seeing there.
Jason Patterson's gotten some buzz this spring. Hampden said, it's
just a situation where Patterson has continually improved, but again

(03:41):
it's the whole group that he likes at running back
and then the offensive line. He says, it's definitely improved.
The guys there that they've brought in really care about
their job and are working hard, and they just have
to keep doing that and developing in the weight room
over the summer to be ready to make a big
move forward with that particular position group this fall. And

(04:03):
out at Keenland yesterday there were several long shots that
hit and so there's a big carryover in the pick
six today and also in the super high five that
is a bet on the last race where you picked
the top five. Another thing to watch today at Keenland.
In the very first race, the number four horse is

(04:23):
Brea from three. I think Kobe Brea puts something either
on X or Instagram yesterday reacting to that and thought
it was cool.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
So it's the.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Four horse in the first race today, Brea from three
fifteen to one on the morning line. Links to the
stories that we talk about can be found on the
Bud Light Leach Report page at Tom leachky dot com.
When we come back, Stephen Thomson will join us from
the Pittsburgh Post Gazette to talk about Jalen low It's
the Leech Report, presented by Bobcat Enterprises. Our opening segment

(04:58):
always a service of Sepees of Lexington. And if you're
looking for a place to celebrate a really special event
in your life, a celebration of an anniversary, or a birthday,
some other special occasion, or just after a fun day
at Keenland or a UK sporting event, make plans now
through open table to get to ju Seppes. The food's fantastic,

(05:20):
the ambiance is equal to it as well, and you
will love every bit of Juseppes full wine and bourbon
selections to Scott Bartender makes a fantastic espresso martini if
that's your drink of choice. Let's get to a break.
We'll come right back and find out a little more
about Jalen low It's the Leach Report Radio Network. Welcome

(05:43):
back into the Leach Report, presented by Bobcat Andrewerprises. We
go to the club Blue nil dot com online. David
Thompson is a writer for the Pittsburgh Postcauzette covering University
of Pittsburgh and Jalen Lowe is coming from Pitt to
play for the University of Kentucky next season in men's basketball.
For Kentucky fans, Steven, what kind of what can you

(06:05):
tell them about the kind of player and point guard
they're getting for their team.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
Yeah, I think a point guard that has you know,
not really hit his ceiling quite yet. You know, Jalen's
really interesting. I think in that you know, both his
freshman and his sophomore year, the situations maybe surrounding him
weren't always ideal, uh, And from what I know about Kentucky,
I think he's walking into a really good situation for himself.

(06:31):
You know, his freshman year, he had an injury during
the preseason that kind of kept him limited. He probably
would have been a starter for the entire year if
he didn't get hurt in the preseason. It was a
lower body injury. Still, apperiod in all thirty three games,
but only start, but started in nineteen and he kind
of took over full time starting point guard duties down

(06:52):
the stretch of the regular season and then into the
ACC Tournament. So some of those kind of raw averages
you see, you know that point takes points per game
from his freshman year three point three assists maybe aren't
reflective of really how good he was playing down the
stretch of that season. And you know, if you go
back and you watch their ACC SEVENTI for ACC Tournament

(07:13):
semi final lost North Carolina, you see both him and
bub Carrington, who was in the same recruiting class ended
up going to the NBA and was a lottery pick
after a year. They were really really good in that
game at a time where Blake Henson, who was an
ACC Player of the Year candidate, didn't have a great game.
Those two freshmen really kept them afloat against the team
that was an eventual number one seed in the top
seed in the ACC, top four team in the country.

(07:35):
And then this year, you know, task was taken on
a much bigger role and it was maybe a team
that didn't fit his skill set quite as well. So
was trusted with the ball a lot, really high usage
rate and it translated to a really high assist rate.
But you know, there are off some turnovers, His shooting
splits went down, especially from three, and so you know,

(08:01):
I don't think he saw the best of him, even
though he was averaging him your seventeen points a game
and five and a half assists and was an All
acc selection. There wasn't a ton of shooters on this team.
It was a pit team that you know, for the
most part, if you watched him, it looks like a
lot of all right, let's get Jalen too the ball

(08:22):
screening and then see what he can do, and so
didn't seem like the most effective way to utilize him,
but the roster kind of needed him to to do
that and it worked for a little bit. They had
a really great start to the non conference season, urge
to the season a non conference play, and then really
scuffled down the stretch. So you know, that's you know,

(08:43):
kind of a big takeaways on Jalen is that he's
a really good player, and he looked like a really
good player when he was a pit but we still
haven't seen the best of what he's capable of. And
in a mar prop offense with a bunch more shooters
and that plays at a higher tempo, I think you're
gonna get some really good production out of Jaila Mow.
He's a terrific passer. I think my impression of him

(09:04):
when he's leaving is that he is at his best
when he is able to facilitate more than be relied on,
as you know, a leader, a lead scorer or lead
scoring option.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
That leads me into exactly what I was going to
ask you, is he do you see him as he
moves forward being more of a playmaking point guard who
can score or a scoring point guard?

Speaker 3 (09:24):
Yeah, I would see that as I would see him
as a playmaking point guard. You can't score, so he's
liable to give you, you know, twenty points to night on
any twenty points on any given night. But for a
teams to operate at their best, I think for Kentucky
to be the team that they want to be, Jalen
is going to be a pass first point guard that

(09:47):
lines up a bunch of shooters with open shots that
can get two feet in the paint and draw a
lot of attention and then distribute the ball. And you
know he can be a closer at times too, So
it might be, you know, on certain nights, a scenario
where you know, Chalen has you know, six, seven, eight
assists by the ten minute mark the of the second half,

(10:10):
and then he starts to score once you know he
can kind of get into some one on one situations
when you know secondary defenders are focused on their shooters.
Jalen can really make some hay in the paint, and
you know, he can really play off of others as well.
So past first, I would say most of the time,
and he has a special ability sometimes to take over
games if his team needs him to.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
The shooting numbers, especially this past season, were not great,
But is that more of a factor of what you
were saying about how he's being asked to play and
maybe taking more bad shots than he would normally take.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
Yeah, I would I would say it is so first
of all, he was being asked to do a lot,
so there wasn't a ton of kind of shooting or
I wouldn't even say offensive talent, because I do think
Pitt had some talented players, but I'm not sure all
the pieces fit together as well as Pitt had maybe
a marriaging your hope that they would at the beginning
of the year when they put this team together. The

(11:05):
other side of it is, I do think that Jalen
didn't always make great decisions, and you know, it's kind
of a chicken and egg thing, you know, was he
not making great decisions because there weren't a time of
those shooters or people to take you know, some of
the pressure off of him, or was he you know,
or were were those bad decisions and not opening up

(11:25):
other things for other people. You know, you could kind
of get yourself into a loop arguing that. But you know,
I really do think that on a different team, with
more shooters, it'll open some things up for him. And
as Jalen gets older and as he moves on to
a different situation, he'll be able to understand that a
lot more. He's definitely a better shooter than he was

(11:49):
than the numbers I think would reflect, especially from last year.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
What about his ability on the defensive end, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:56):
That's that's another thing. So I was I mean, I
was gonna say, you know, the one thing you worry
about is maybe him in the paint and being able
to finish there. He's crafty, but not necessarily strong. I
think that does apply on the defensive end as well.
He's got good hands and I think can be a
high steels guy. I think he's smart and knows what
he's doing. But you know, maybe some bigger guards will
be able to were able to back him down a

(12:16):
little bit or overwhelm him at certain times last year.
So you know, he's getting older. He was you know,
young while he was at Pitt So I would not
discount at all another year of college weights and just
another year maturing, he gets a little bit stronger, and
you know, some of those some of those concerns about
maybe getting overwhelmed by bigger guards on as big of
a problem going in it next year.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
Lastly, what about just the fish bowl that a player
can find himself in at the program like the University Kentucky.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
Think he handles that well?

Speaker 3 (12:47):
Yeah, I think he would. I mean, Jalen has been
a high level player his entire life. His dad as
a coach, he always kept really high level players around him.
Jalen's always been in a gym. He just kind of
lives there. That's where he grew up. He's a really
fiery competitor as well, So you know, who knows. I mean,

(13:08):
I think Kentucky's going to be good. I know it's
a lot of pressure there, but Jalen's going to be
in a situation where I mean, Jalen faced the situation
last year where you know, the team wasn't winning a
whole lot and he was being asked to do a lot,
and he was kind of at the center of all
of it, and I think throughout all of it kept
a very level head, you know, sitting courtside during the
AC tournament, and you know he was just as competitive

(13:29):
and just as into the game after they had lost.
You know, I forget what it is, maybe twelve or
fifteen or twelve of sixteen or something more than that
to end the regular season as he was, you know,
when they were twelve and two, and when they were
ranked number eighteen in the country and things like that.
So I think Jalen is a really levelhead and is
really smart, and his upbringing really kind of forged a

(13:51):
temperament that allows him to be in competitive environment and thrive.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
Steven Thompson, Pittsburgh Post Casette, thank you for the time.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
Appreciate you having me a little.

evans joining us on the Club Blueennil dot com hotline. So, Goose,
what do you think about the group that Coach Pope

(15:24):
has put together thus far through the portal.

Speaker 4 (15:27):
Oh, I love it. I love it, man. I think
I think Mark has has put together some some some
potentially fun and exciting pieces to our team next year.
And I just can't wait to get an opportunity to
see him play and also to see what else he does.

(15:49):
Uh in this portal, I think there's still a need
or too, so we'll see if he can he can
sell some of that in.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
I have to say, you came to when I was
watching some Jaden Quainton's highlights, and every one of them
showed him dunking it at the end.

Speaker 4 (16:08):
I'll be you know, I'll be really really happy about that.

Speaker 5 (16:11):
Man.

Speaker 4 (16:12):
I can't wait to see a lot more of that
than we saw this season.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
He gives them certainly a more physical presence. Diabate, I
think that I love that pick up a guy who
can guard multiple positions and was a good rebounder and
certainly played well in the in the games against Kentucky.
So I think Mark, it looks like wanted to get

(16:38):
guys who could bring more athleticism and physical play after
seeing his first year in the SEC.

Speaker 4 (16:45):
Right, yeah, yeah, one of the things I knew Kentucky
needed to add was what JQ brings a six ten
twenty five very physical SEC style forward. If you will,
you know one of those guys who seems to enjoy
banging around the basket, who can go up in traffic

(17:10):
and just dunk on people, guy who can push around
a little bit. They need it at least one of those,
and I think Brendan Garrison will be better at that
part of the game than he was, So I think
that's covered. And then you know to have a guy
like Diabonte who is six seven, but he gives you

(17:33):
six seven rebounds a game, that is huge. You know
he's not gonna score a bunch of points, although he
had some big scoring games. But I just love that
guy who can you can put on that even a
point guard, and say, just make it difficult for him

(17:54):
to score. And that's what he does. You don't have
to call a lot of plays for him, Mamadedden, you
don't have to call his number all that much. He
can go get points because if he's getting you six
or seven rebounds a game, he's probably gonna have two
or three offensive rebounds, which gives him opportunity to go
back and score. So I'm excited about that pick. As well.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
We'll talk more about that and the other players in
just a moment on the leak report. Second half of
the Lad's reports presented by Bobcat Enterprises, and they have
four locations in Kentucky. So when you need to buy
or ran a piece of heavy equipment, you google Bobcat Enterprises.
You'll find the one that's closest to you, and they
will give you what you need at a great price

(18:39):
and even better service after the sale. The Ghost jack
Ewitt's joining us on the club blueenil dot com hotline.
Talking about Kentucky's pickups in the transfer portal, Diabatee said,
reminded me maybe a little bit of DeAndre Liggins type
in terms of just the versatility. You know, herb Joe

(19:00):
was a player that Alabama had a few years ago.
Maybe diabate'es. You know, a player like that that just can,
as you said, can guard multiple positions.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
He's gonna score you know, six, eight, ten.

Speaker 1 (19:13):
Points, uh, without you draw anything up for him.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
He's gonna he's gonna stuff the stat sheet I think
every game. Right.

Speaker 4 (19:21):
Yeah, another guy a little more current who who Deabonte
reminds me of. This is a guy like Jamal Mayshack
down at time.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
Oh I like that.

Speaker 4 (19:32):
Yeah, he he He never gets a play called for him.
He comes in knowing that my job is to defend
Kobe Bray. My job is to defend whoever you put
on him and close that guy down and you'd never
have to give him the ball. And Tennessee had that

(19:54):
in Mayshack, a guy who I just he was the
guy who I most wanted to avoid plan against, you know,
when I was playing a guy who you knew was
going to come in and if you score on me,
you're going to have to work. And dia Bonte kind
of reminds me of him, and he gives us that

(20:17):
same quality, if you will, that same piece that Tennessee
got when Mayshak would come into the game. And I
think that is an awesome, awesome thing. And again we
talked about his ability to rebound the basketball. He'll get
you five to ten rebounds on any given night, so

(20:37):
that's going to be huge.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
Let's talk about the point guard JAYL. Low from pitt
Just had a writer that covered pitt On earlier in
the show.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
I liked hearing what he had to say.

Speaker 1 (20:49):
And it seems like Low's a guy, probably not as
good a defender as a Lamont Butler, probably maybe a
little more dynamic offensively. So you know, when you're going
through acquiring players in the portal, from one position guy
to one position one year to the next, you may

(21:10):
give a little, you may lose a little. You're probably
not going to find a lot of guys that check
every box for you.

Speaker 4 (21:18):
No, But the thing as I was listening to your
previous guests, the thing that came to mind to me
when they talked about when you talk to him about
defense and maybe bigger guards backing him down and doing
some things. I look at Kobe Brea, and I know

(21:40):
that totally different players, don't get me wrong, But I
look at the improvement that Kobe made on defense from
the start of last season to the finish of the year,
and I know the work that Mark and his staff
puts in on players like a Brea, who you know,

(22:01):
early in the season you couldn't have him on the
floor because he couldn't stop anybody from scoring till later
in the year when you got to the point where
you couldn't take him off the floor because of the
job he was doing, not just offensively, because he's always
been able to shoot it, but the improvements he's made defensively.

(22:23):
So when I look at this guy, yeah, I don't
know a lot about him, but I do think I
do see improvement, the ability to improve. And I don't
want to count anybody out or say this is going
to be a weakness or that is going to be
a weakness until he gets here and he proves to

(22:45):
have a weakness. Because sometimes you know your own teams
were they don't want you playing any better defense than
you're playing because that means you're going to pick up fouls,
and that be when you pick up fouls, you have
to come out of the game. And when you come
out of the game, a team like Pitt may not

(23:06):
be able to score, they may not be able to
stay in games. So yeah, that in a situation, Yeah,
go ahead.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
It's a great point.

Speaker 1 (23:14):
Like it's a lot of times you find in high
school where the best player you don't want the worst
thing you could have is have him get in foul trouble.

Speaker 4 (23:22):
Yeah. Yeah, So I don't know if that's the situation,
but he will be in a situation here where you
have to play defense. Because I have other people who
I can put in if you don't, and that usually
changes the guys start thinking on defense.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
And then Cam Williams, the other one that they've picked
up to this point, just looks like a maybe a
Kobe type. Kobe was six' Seven, CAM i think maybe six.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
Eight but.

Speaker 1 (23:52):
Not many three point shooters as prolific As Kobe. Brea
But Cam williams had really strong numbers shooting the. Three
and in terms of adding, it do you think they
need to add one more?

Speaker 4 (24:01):
SHOOTER i, think, well you can always have you can
never have too many. SHOOTERS i, mean so, YEAH i
THINK i think that would be. Good AND i also
would like to see it seven one you, know shot

(24:22):
blocker type player to come in who can clean up
a lot of stuff around the. RIM i don't know
If marco add. THAT i don't know if he feels
like he needs to add, that BUT i would love
to see one of those kind of guys who long
and just can run up and down the floor like

(24:44):
the Kid duke. Had, again you don't have to give
him a lot of, touches but he just intimidates in the.
Paint SO i would like to see that as. Well
and by the, way as you talk About Cam williams
at six eight one. Ninety i'm really excited about seeing

(25:05):
this guy up close and. PERSONAL i, think, Boy i'm
excited when you add a guy like, that who can
who can score, points who can do a lot of
different things, Rebound, okay you know that kind of. PLAYER
i think he'll fit in THE sec very very.

Speaker 2 (25:22):
Well that's The.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
Goose Jack evans joining us on the club blueennil dot com. Hotline,
Goose thank you. Much enjoy The masters.

Name brea from.

Goose Jack evans joining us serial in The Leads, Report
quick Break back With Justin rowland From Katz. Illustrated Let's
report coming to you from The Clark's Pumping shop. Studio,
Return refresh and. Refuel Justin rowland joining us on The
Club blue nil dot com.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
Hotline.

Speaker 1 (26:32):
Justin i'll start with posing a question to you that
you posed to your followers At Roland rivals on. X
you listed the twelve players currently on The kentucky men's
basketball roster and asked what would be your expectations for
that group and what do they need to? Add so
what do you?

Speaker 2 (26:49):
THINK i?

Speaker 5 (26:51):
MEAN i feel like going into the offseason a healthy
expectation was a step forward from The sweet. Sixteen and
that's kind of a nebulous concepts because it's all about the.
Tournament but you want top ten roster going into next,
year AND i feel like they're kind of they're kind
of at that. SPOT i, MEAN i wouldn't say it's
like the top one or two, roster but it's also

(27:13):
very competitive with what you see from a lot of
other teams out. THERE i, mean they're, balanced they seem
to have addressed a lot of the deficiencies or maybe
not so great strength that they had this, season and,
uh they're going to have a, deep versatile roster, again
maybe more versatile on the.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
Defensive if you look at his first roster to his.
Second he's excuse, me had certainly more time to work
on this. One but it is trading experience some experience
that Was uber experienced first. Year but what you're getting

(27:51):
is a more athletic, GROUP i, think and a more physical,
group right.

Speaker 5 (27:56):
YEAH i. THINK i Mean pope said right after the
season that he did take away from this year that
you gotta be, longer more athletic in the sec just
the way that these teams are, constructed in the way
that they're recruiting and roster. Building and they've gotten that in.
SPADES i mean that's been clearly an. Emphasis and you know,
this this pendulum swings for both. SPORTS i mean they,

(28:18):
say you, know you gotta you gotta pass the ball,
Better you've got to get, longer you got to become
a better shooting. Team AND i Think pope has he
wrote in on this area and in a credible. Way
he hasn't reached on guys who aren't gonna fit his.
System when you think About quainton's And Cam williams and
Your body and guys like, THIS i mean they are
in their own right bring a lot of good things

(28:39):
to the, table but you know they're gonna be minor,
differences like maybe is there gonna be as much passing
out of the bigs other Than garrison than there was
compared to this, season or is there gonna be quite
as much? Shooting but there's definitely gonna be more one
on one shot creation. Ability so it's not gonna be
the same exact, team But i'm Sure pope system is
adaptable enough to incorporate.

Speaker 1 (28:59):
That and as you evaluate, guys all you have to
go on is in the portal guys what you've seen
to this. Point But otega always a great example of
there could be a lot more, there AND i think
about that with a guy like the point Guard. Low
we had a writer on who Covers pit earlier in
the show and talked about some of the circumstances That

(29:20):
low was in there that may have contributed, to for,
instance some of the shooting numbers that were low that
were poor to avoid a. Punt he is a guy
that has the skill set to be open to a
lot of growth in a different system with a lot
of different types of players around.

Speaker 5 (29:40):
Him. Absolutely. YEAH i spoke with a pit writer who
said the same. Thing it was just a couple of years.
Ago he was a more efficient player because he wasn't
asked to do as much one on one or force the.
Action he didn't have to make inefficient. Plays and sometimes
that's just the byproduct of a player's circumstances and it's
not all on, him kind of like not every sack

(30:01):
is on the, quarterback and so there could be some
some underlying potential. There and there is a lot to
like about his. Game AND i feel like each of
the guys they brought in they're gonna be a lot
longer and more. Athletic it's but it's not going to
be exactly the kind of team that you would have.
Assumed this is What pope would. Recruit if you think
about like the prototypes for like what you thought A

(30:22):
Mark boate team would look, like some of the guys
they brought in might not fit that to a. T
but we also saw they do have to be better,
defensively better to fifty to fifty loose ball loose balls
and these guys are going to help him with.

Speaker 2 (30:35):
That, YEAH i, think you, know he. Is his approach
seems to be.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
He's not, gonna you, know, complain worry, about you, know
how the game's being called or what they're allowing to
go to get away with and. Not it's just, Like,
okay if that's what it's going to, be then now
you're you've let me know HOW i need to build my,
team right.

Speaker 5 (30:57):
Exactly, YEAH i Mean Cam williams three and the body
is a great rebounding energy off the, bench but also
he kind of contorts his body well and getting to
the rim and kind of does a little bit of
what Made alabama special is so many guys that can
break you. Down then obviously. Acquaintances you, know some people

(31:18):
have evaluated him as one of the best defensive prospects
in college basketball given the age in a really long,
time and that's just it brings a lot that they didn't.
Have and, REALLY i think the real potential of next
year's team is gonna come from the youth and from the.
Bench like we're not talking about some of these young
guys on the level that they could impact the. Team

(31:39):
there is real breakout potential for some of these highly
regarded young, players and it's gonna make the bench. Better
you're not gonna have to bank on all due respect to,
him But Trent noah And Travis perry from having good
games off the bench every single, night night and night.
Out some of those bench guys are gonna carry over
in their role, world but they're gonna relying on four

(32:00):
and five star players. MORE i Think i'm moving.

Speaker 1 (32:04):
Forward talking With Justin Rowland Katz illustrated Dot, com it's
At Roland rivals ON x we'll switch gears to football
and the fans get a chance to see this team
On saturday in an open practice At Kroger. Field but
Yesterday Bush hampden talked to the, media talked a little
bit about the quarterbacks and the offensive. Line he said

(32:28):
is definitely, improved and that seems to be a consensus
that has emerged out of this spring, practice which is
maybe one of the best pieces of.

Speaker 5 (32:37):
News, yeah no, doubt no. Doubt if they're if they
can be strong up, front then that don't make everybody
else look, better but would caution that they still they
still got to get the other positions looking. RIGHT i
think the fact that they would be open to adding
another receiver in the in the spring wave of the,
portal and the fact that there are still some questions

(32:59):
at running back and and. Quarterback but that line is
going to make everybody look. Better is going to make
AND i think the tight ends can be improved and
solid as, well With Willie rodriguez And. Catis and have
heard some good things About, boyer the big six, seven
two sixty five blocking tight end that they brought in From.
Illinois but you're talking about relying on guys LIKE Dj

(33:20):
miller freshman receiver from From Saint louis and maybe some
guys if You Jason patterson in line for a bigger rolling. Back,
yeah the offensive line is probably the unit that you
feel best, about on that entire unit going into the.

Speaker 1 (33:33):
Season any update on the young man From, Louisiana Tech
edwards as far as a wide receiver and getting able to.

Speaker 5 (33:40):
Play, YEAH i haven't heard anything, precise but somebody close
to him when that ruling from THE ncaa on THE
gCO waivers came, down said he didn't think that he
would be. Eligible so and the fact that they they've
offered another receiver since, then from the portal makes me
wonder they just can't count on, that although it hasn't
been ruled.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
About, yeah the transfer From alabama seems to be generating
a little.

Speaker 5 (34:03):
Buzz Law, Yeah Kendrick. Law, yeah he's A Swiss army
knife And ham been kind of alluded to that when
he talked about him, yesterday how developing as more technically
as a conventional wide receiver instead of just the utility
guy A Swiss army. Knife, it's you, know something to
talk about, versatility but at the end of the, day

(34:23):
you have to find that role where and find your
bread and. Butter and it makes sense for him to
get away From alabama And kentucky where he can be
showcased more readily on that but physically, athletically he's a
very impressive guy and was promising At. Alabama when they're
talking about, you he's promising At. Alabama that would certainly
be Interesting In.

Speaker 1 (34:41):
Kentucky we always tend to focus a lot of the quarterback,
position and At kentucky with the offensive line since it
had slipped in recent, years which leads to kind of
overlooking the defensive side of the. Ball anything noteworthy you're
hearing from that side.

Speaker 5 (35:00):
Corners waller AND jq in particular had had turned some,
heads and you, know anything you say about one unit
is going to be kind of a reflection on the other.
Unit But David gusta From Washington, State i've, heard really
pushes that pocket. Back he might not get a lot of,
sacks but he's great at creating. Havoc and then My
Queas grace defensive lineman him in From South dakota as somebody,

(35:23):
else he's turned some. Heads BUT i, Mean i've felt
like linebacker is really the one area WHERE i have
probably the biggest question all things. Considered they're bringing in
a lot of new parts and we just don't know
a lot about those. Guys but they got a lot of,
big impressive bodies in the trenches and they got some
experience in the. Secondary SO i, MEAN i still expect
it to be a pretty typical steep.

Speaker 1 (35:43):
Season i'm intrigued by one of the smaller, Bodies Steven.

Speaker 2 (35:47):
Souls. Yeah how dynamic he was in before he got
hurt last.

Speaker 5 (35:52):
Year, yeah and you just look at him getting off the.
Bus you wouldn't have guessed you'd be one of the
freshmen to make the biggest. Impact but he has a
particular skill and that's getting after the, quarterback creating, havoc bending,
quickness beating you off the, edge and that's carried to THE.
Sec and so we're gonna find out if he's going
to be a two hundred snap guy or if he
could eventually develop into a starting. Player but he definitely

(36:14):
has a role with how he can get after in the.

Speaker 1 (36:16):
